542 Herald St, Victoria, BC V8W 1S5, Canada
All-day breakfast, including eggs Benedict & pancakes, plus updated comfort food amid rustic decor.
Such a great place! I came here for brunch after reading the reviews and it did not disappoint. I only waited for about 7 minutes (I came by myself) and was seated at a cozy corner at the bar. I wasn’t sure if I should get the Green Eggs and Ham or the Huervos Rancheros, so I asked my server, Izzy, for her recommendation. After chatting through ingredients, I decided on the Green Eggs and Ham. It was wonderful! And Izzy was absolutely fantastic. Wonderful food and wonderful service. I will definitely be back 😊
The establishment offers quick service and provides good quality food at reasonable prices. However, one notable aspect is the close proximity of the tables, which can create a feeling of invasion of personal space. This experience has occurred during two visits to Victoria, suggesting that such table arrangements may be typical of the local dining culture.
3rd day on my road trip and this restaurant is a such a milestone. It was recommended to me while I was riding the ferry and I cannot express how good this place is. First it is a Sunday morning 8 and the street is mostly empty and gloomy with few people, this forms such a contrast when I entered the restaurant, friendly host led me to the table and it is busy! I ordered the milk shake and ordered the fried chicken Benedict. The milkshake came with two cups with extra milkshake, the fried chicken is the best fried chicken I ever had, such a thin coating with the world’s most juicy chicken I had. The waitress later told me the chicken is marinated and hence the flavors. There are so many ways a fried chicken can go wrong like too much coating, too dry, too salty and the chef nailed it! Jam, Jam, Highly recommend!
Friendly staff makes stay a lot better here. Atmosphere is cool, jazz, and rustic antique feeling. Brunch they serve is a lot better than any cafe here in Vic. Had the bennys and a big blueberry pancake, portion was wayyy too generous for me to handle. Can’t beat that
Best breakfast I’ve ever had. Green eggs and ham were amazing along with the tastiest pancake ever. Great drinks too including the chai latte and mimosas. Helpful friendly staff and the best atmosphere. Cannot recommend enough
We’ve enjoyed Jam Cafe in Vancouver a few times, so when we were in Victoria and craving a hearty and delicious breakfast, we knew exactly where to go. From the moment we joined the queue, the experience was wonderful. Despite the 20-minute wait, we were handed menus right away, making it easy to decide what to order. Our hostess was incredibly friendly, which added to the positive atmosphere. We ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, a mocha, a vanilla milkshake, and banana and strawberry waffles. The Nashville chicken sandwich was substantial, but the brioche bread was wonderfully fluffy, making it perfectly balanced and flavorful. To our surprise, they even gave us an extra milkshake at no charge. As always, Jam Cafe delivered an exceptional experience. We highly recommend it!
Absolutely the BEST food experience in Victoria. A MUST breakfast spot. Thank you Ocean for an exceptional dining experience. Editing this review to mention we had to come back 2 mornings in a row. Another point to mention is that Management is truly magnificent, very engaging and friendly. Blessed to have met great people. Thanks Jam Cafe, we will be back. 🙏
Absolutely amazing! We went to grab a bite again today; however, there was a lineup right up the block, so we went elsewhere and instantly regretted it! Their bacon was the best bacon we ever had; incredibly thick with a lovely and not overpowering sweet flavor. The sour dough toast was lovely. The only thing that stood out to us was that we were only given 1 piece of toast; 2 pieces are ideal with a 2 egg breakfast.
Today was my first time at Jam Cafe and I will certainly go back! The food was amazing (chicken and waffles yum!) The staff were friendly and helpful. The overall experience was wonderful. Dont let the libe deter you! Its well worth the wait.
You wont be disappointed with this breakfast place, It is fantastic! Atmosphere is eclectic and welcoming. Menu is amazingly complex, along side daily specials . Food is abundant, fresh and great! Staff know what they are doing and are also great! Cannot say enough about this place. Love them.
Awesome people and food. First time we did not see a line up at the door when we visited recently.
I love Jam cafe, everytime I come to Canada it is on my list! Waiting for the day they bring back the crossiant waffle!!! Yum!
get ready to wait in line! The lineups for this place are long but well worth it. Once we got inside, I ended up getting an omelet which was really great.
Good breakfast and with a delicious menu. I got the special French toast of the day, and I have no doubt everything is as tasty as that. I look forward to coming back! The staff were all so sweet, and the decor is fun; super cozy spot!
Nothing but stars for this cozy neighborhood spot. From the warm welcome and coffee to the abundant, delicious food, it was a delightful stop on our travels. Bonus points for the friendly service, and even more bonus points for people who like books!
My friend said: A friend said it was delicious, so he went to wait in line for an hour at 10 a.m. on a Saturday at the end of November to eat it. In fact, it s just normal foreigner food. For example, it s like eating authentic home-cooked food when you return to China. Not bad. The main thing is that the sausages are so delicious.
Great food, great portions and service
The service was good and the food came promptly, that would be the highlight of the meal. Although the food was made well individually, it was bland and dry. We had the chicken Benny and the gravy coupes. My partner and I were excited to try this place but left underwhelmed.
Quick service once youre seated. Great flavours. High quality food
Amazing food. Huge portions. Will be back again and again.
GARBAGE PLACE DONT COME HERE. SERVINGS ARE TODLER BASED. AND THEIR icon THE JAM, IS SERVED BY THE TEASPOON. WAITERS DONT BOTHER TO LOOK AT YOU. AND EVERYTHING IS SO EXPENISVE. DONT COME HERE IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A GOOD DAY
The atmosphere was cozy and the food is always nice it was just busy during brunch so I dont recommend going during weekends brunch. Service was so good as well
Sweet funky place with great food!!!
Incredible breakfast experience here. Most insanely delicious and unique breakfast menu. You ll never be disappointed.
So good! I ve always wanted to to try the one in Vancouver but it was always busy. Huge portions, the food so good and tasty! A must, worth the hype
The lavender latte and coffee is SO good! My boyfriend had the Fat Elvis and I got the Pear + Brie Benedict, egg was cooked to perfection and the waffles werent overly sweet!
Excellent creative food... And super cool place!!! Worth the wait!! Food
Beautifully presented and tasted even better. Great, friendly staff. Highly recommend.
The food is excellent! Fresh, well presented, good portions. Very nice variety of menu. Looking forward to coming back.
Glad we got here early. Otherwise there is usually a wait time.
Everything was delicious but way too greasy!
The food here is pretty good. I came here twice and tried a charlie bowl the first time which I loved, it was full of so many flavors and got a peach bacon french toast the second time which was heavily drowning in maple syrup so maybe ask for less syrup or on the side. Also they will not seat you until you re a full party which makes sense but I was at the front of the line and I told the girl my friend was a block away and they ignored me and sat 3 parties down so we waited longer than how long it took for my friend to walk one block. The waiter also seemed very pushy to get us to pack our food and leave when we haven t even been there for an hour so it was a bit uncomfortable. I understand it was busy but just felt like we couldn t even sit there for maybe 45 minutes enjoying our food cause she asked numerous times if we were done.
Very Cozy and Authentic atmosphere Yummy flavours and delicious Chai Latte Food
Amazing experience there with my family everything was just perfect Food
The place has a beautiful atmosphere. The line wasnt too long and the waiter gave us menus outside to prepare what we were going to order. Our waiter was incredibly friendly and delivered top notch hospitality. The food arrived timely and the dishes are very filling. The chicken crispy and juicy, bread sliced generously and the taters crunchy. Highly reccommend!!!
The breakfast is delicious! Its all very tasty. The dishes are very well served. You can share it.
Funky decorations, and great vibe. My sons loved the taxidermied armadillo, in particular. Food was super tasty, and everyone enjoyed it. Portions were a little small for the price, and the music was just a little too loud to talk comfortably over. Overall, worth going, but thats why I docked the stars. The picture is the breakfast tacos, which was actually the largest portion of all the meals. Lucky I could bat clean up for my son, as I otherwise would have left hungry. Kid-friendliness: Kids really enjoyed the atmosphere, mid-tier kids menu selection. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy accessibility.
Servers were very mindful and friendly. A pear s and camembert cheese bennies were incredibly delicious! Food
I ve had a handful of breakfasts here, and every single time my breakfast was amazing and complimented perfectly by the amazing staff who are always so kind and so fast. Don t let the line deter you, if there is one it is fast-paced. Perfect place to go as a tourist or a local family! Also would suggest trying out the mimosas.
Brunch chain!! Always large portions, tasty, friendly staff and original interior. But there is always a line, keep this in mind.
Wonderful service. (:
The food was amazing and the place is a bit retro. A bit of a wait at the door but well worth it!
Staff is great. Food was fantastic.
I love the fried chicken benny <3 , my go-to place if the lines arent so intimidatingly long.
Good food but .... A chunky Miserable mask wearing woman hates life and people.
The server was Thai, and he was very friendly, so I had a pleasant meal! It was nice that it didn t take too long for the food to come out! I was lucky enough to not have to wait long, but since it is a very well-known place, I recommend going with the expectation that there may be a bit of a wait! The food was clean and good, and the hash browns were delicious! Look on the outside! The dipped jalapeño sauce is delicious!
Great food, bad treatment by manager . Finished a great breakfast today for our friends birthday. Just finishing our tea after a great experience , only to have the manager come over, lay her hand on our table and say we re going to have to ask you to leave as we need this table as we have a line up of people outside. So basically, order, eat, and get out . Been coming here for years. The three of us looked at each other and said to each other, wow none of us have ever had that happen to any of us in a restaurant before. All I said to the manager as we left was that that was uncalled for. And it was. Don t worry, you ll never have to worry about this local customer finishing his tea ..cuz I won t be back. Thank you for having our wonderful time end on a sour note. I ll take my business elsewhere. Kudos to our great server, and the kitchen staff for great food.
Fabulous place for brunch, seated straight away on the outside deck, spoilt for choice with the menu, eggs were cooked to perfection, staff were very friendly, glad we went and highly recommend
If you take a look at the included picture, you will see the SUMMER SANGRIA at the bottom. Ive seen few restaurants who make this type of deceiving advertisements and try to get away by saying It wasnt intentional when they get called out. If you look carefully, the sangria is $13.75, not $3.75. They just wrote the first 1 on top of the dollar sign to deceive you.
Had a really good breakfast. It was a full restaurant and the food tasted not too bad.. They do have really good coffee. Going to come back and try something different next time
Super rude server when I paid the bill, food was too salty
I had an iced latte & fried chicken on French toast on a maple bourbon bbq sauce. Good value and everything was freshly prepared. However, the sauce was too sweet, masking out the flavours of the bread & chicken. The chicken was inadequately crispy as it lacked crunch. Service was excellent & the ambiance of the restaurant is homey and rustic. Definitely worth a trip if you re in downtown Victoria.
The drinks tasted good but served cold and the vibe is good as well as the service. Food was dry and okayish and the veggie bowl was not eatable at all
Jam Cafe was our top brunch spot for our vacation in Victoria. Cozy shop, AMAZING menu selection, pleasantly hefty specialty coffee options, and the staff were friendly and attentive. Would 10/10 Jam again!
Fantastic place for breakfast or lunch. Many in house specialties.
This place lived up to the hype!! All of the food/drinks were so amazing, lovely staff, great music, loved the decor!! The local advice was to show up early to avoid line ups.
This is my third time visiting jams and will it be my last time. I forgave them twice before, but this time our food was cold we waited almost 40 minutes for one egg which had to be sent back twice the music was so load it was like eating at a rock concert. My family and l did eat most of our food because it was so cold it was not even acknowledged but the server or manager. Think twice before you visit Jams lots of better places for breakfast in Victoria.
Fabulous breakfast. Very friendly staff
Best hash brown I ve ever had - so crunchy! The menu has a lot to offer. My nashville hot chicken and egg benedict was so good! The line can be long but we got in pretty soon after lining up. Will come back from Toronto to try some more! Vegetarian options: Veggie bowl
Movie breakfasts. The service is very attentive to requests, and the menu is very extensive. To repeat a thousand times.
Amazing spot for breakfast / brunch, good food, fair prices and lovely service, what more can I say?
delicious food and great service from our server Amy!
Bad service and horrible coffee!
This was my 2nd time visitings Jams VICTORIA. But honestly the management is not handling well the name here: The food wasn t great and nor the drinks: I suggest never to order cold brew with ice cream as it taste like sweet water. After taking just one sip and returning the drink and ordering another drink the management refused take it off the bill and charged for 2 drinks. We were told the manager will come and talk and he can take it off. No one showed up a totally different server came to get the bill. Not at all professional as we were not informed until the end of the brunch. Management should made it clear as if they would ve done so I would not be ordering the food. Will not recommend going to Jams Victoria ,at all other locations are a super hit !
Very friendly staff , one of the best eggs benny you will ever have
The people were nice and flexible worth the wait in line. Tayla was a grate server. There was a great kids menu
Worth the wait! There was a line up to wait ~25 minutes, the menu has various items and all looked good! We tried the avocado Benedict and the veggie bowl, very tasty. Staff is very friendly and provided nice suggestions. Wanted to try something sweet yet I was full after the bowl, portion was more than enough.
Great little place for breaky. Come hungry as the portions are very large. I ordered the blueberry pancakes and my wife ordered the strawberry/banana waffle. Also know that what we ordered was very sweet. I could not finish all of mine. I also got a coffee - very surprised they don t offer brown or raw sugar. They did have honey for my coffee ..for an up charge. No biggie. Line up moves quickly.
Amazing food. Must try for everyone!! The pancakes, the waffles, cant wait to try more.
I wanted to give this place a higher rating, but I wont succumb to all the hype from Google reviews. $24.00 for a small breakfast is really crazy and over $4 a cup for coffee...WOW. I understand costs of overhead/staff payouts. The breakfast I ordered was not very big. One piece of multigrain toast cut in half. Eggs were small. Bacon, 2pcs. Thin tater pancake. A bit of jam. That said, I found this place charming and the patio also. The staff and owners treat you very well and though busy, will take time to chat. The food presents well and flavor was a treat. They season their potato pancakes very nice (maybe parmesan and garlic?) The bacon thick slices, very smokey and sweet. The eggs were tasty and fresh, even if small size. The raspberry preserves - very nice and fresh, likely homemade and not too sweet. (Just wish they gave me more toast to try it on). Maybe they thought I was a senior or a small eater. This place wreaks of GOURMET prices and the small presentations, though laid out well and very tasty, are just not fulfilling. The locals and tourist maybe find this budget friendly, but I dont. BUT DO CHECK IT OUT...for the food, staff and ambiance and respond to my review if you want. Perfect for downtown Victoria.
Great place recommended, to us by a barman from the Irish Times Pub! Great way to catch a lovely breakfast our last day in lovely Victoria.
A bit of a wait as we had 5 people, but the food was great! Service was fantastic! We have a family member with a food allergy and they were very happy to check with the kitchen multiple times to ask about different dishes. Dietary restrictions: All of their sweet dishes include artificial flavor.
Went to this place twice during our stay in Victoria. It s worth the wait if there is a line . It actually moves fast too. Very nice service and very delicious food AMAZING
Delicious spot!!!
Great food and good service! Highly recommended. I gave the atmosphere a 4 stars, not because it had a bad atmosphere. The atmosphere was very good! It was just very busy in the restaurant, which isn t ideal for me, but it s a sign that it s a really good place!
Very delicious food and very friendly!
Our breakfast spot in Vic. Reliably great!
So good we went back both mornings we were in Victoria. Get the cornbread!
Ever have everything wonderful and something leaves you feeling bitter and upset? I had the pork belly eggs Benedict and it was fantastic. Like a thick juicy fatty slab of bacon under a wet poached egg with onions and hollandaise sauce. They serve Drumroaster coffee for 4.15 and if you are diabetic they only have sugar twin. REALLY. Go ahead and tell me how great your food is and ask me to enjoy a great cup of your fantastic coffee but be a huge cheapskate are dont pay the nickel it would have cost you for stevia or Splenda or even Equal? If you want me to enjoy my experience, think of all the people out there that cant or dont eat sugar and consider how much you directly affect their entire meal by making bad choices. Im not asking for monk fruit or exotics, just what normal restaurants have including McDonalds. Thanks for a great meal and a bitter angry resentment that you were so cheap and have me sweeteners from the 1970s and saccharine was discovered in the 1800s.
Kiersten was our server and we went with her suggestion.it was so delicious.the place has very nice atmosphere so many vintage items gets you busy while you are waiting for your food.it was super busy even on Tuesday morning which shows they do really good job.higly recommended special thanks to our server.
It was so busy but the wait wasnt long at all. Food was great as usual.
Our favorite brunch place!
Great, always a line though so be prepared
I had the tater bowl with pulled pork and it was delicious! Great lattes aswell. Wish there was a location closer to where I live, the Jam would definitely be my go to breakfast spot
Always a 5 star experience! My favourite breakfast spot ever, hands down!
Quite easily one of the best breakfasts we ve ever had! Highly recommend the huevos rancheros, it was out of the world
Great food! Always busy - cute inside!
Basically a bar with loud music and vibe - where you can have breakfast! The food and service was great, the waiting time should be taken into account.
We were up early to be first in line with friends and were first served on a busy Saturday morning. Great service, nice atmosphere, but mediocre breakfast! My wife and my Eggs Bennys were not even luke warm, but cold and bland. After departing and discussing our experience, we realized the lack of flavor was partly due to the missing hollandaise sauce. So, in fairness that s on us too. Hash browns were way too salty. On this day, Jam was certainly very undeserving of their reputation as local top place for breakfast! Not worth the line up. Can think of ten or more local breakfast places we ll continue to frequent instead.
My partner and I were so excited to try this place! The hostess was very sweet, but our server was just alright (which to be fair she did her job and didn t mess anything up), but definitely felt rushed and no pleasantries. The food was really sub par unfortunately, but this could have been just what we ordered (eggs, sausage, hash browns, toast, and French toast). The French toast was the worst I ve ever had. It was so dry I almost sent it back, but I have no confrontation skills lol. The eggs were cooked fine and the hashbrowns were good, but the sausage was subpar (like the grocery store has better quality ones). We collectively left disappointed, especially for the price of these!!! I don t think we would give it another go around. I would skip this and try out other breakfast places (johns place, spoons, etc.)
This is my first time visiting Jam Cafe as it has been recommended for me multiple times. The food and service here are good but I dont know if it worth the long wait during busy hour.
Well let me tell you a story about a magical place called Jam. It s a place where parents can enjoy breakfast with their kids. Or without them in this case. We got baby sitting Service it was amazing we got to meet this lovely lady who kindly carried out new born around while we enjoyed our meal. Talk about such a lovely lady, we honestly couldn t think the staff could be any friendlier or kinder. We hit the jackpot. Jam. Is a great place. We used to live in Van then moved to the island. We have been going to Jane cafes for a while and will always support this business and business like this. Who really go well beyond service and food is awesome as always. Me and my battalion size family are really greatful. I cannot guarantee that babysitting is availible. But I can guarantee you will have a great meal. With awesome people. Thanks Jam From Franky Kid-friendliness: Not specific to kids but the staff is nice to everyone
Awesome! Thanks
Everything was excellent, I would come back again. many breakfast options.
The Avocado Benedict is sublime. And the service is fantastic, particularly from our server Kiersten today. So good we came back the next day! Food
Astoundingly good food at this popular cafe, some of the best we had in Vancouver. Huge portions, beautifully presented, and all in the buzzing atmosphere of Jam. Our server was super friendly and couldnt do enough to make us at ease an attended to our every need. Highly recommended - go there now!
The servers were lovely and helpful, food is amazing Worth the wait Food
Good Food & Service
Line was huge, but it s worth it
Avo toast is fantastic. The hashbrowns were amazing. Not a fan of the sugary bacon
What a breakfast! Too many amazing options and choices. The sugar cured Bacon I haven t the words. Will be back for sure. Food
Exceptional experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff. The ambiance was inviting and the service was top-notch. The attention to detail and dedication to customer satisfaction were evident in every aspect of my visit. The food was delicious, prepared with care and fresh ingredients. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a memorable experience. Cant wait to visit again!
One of the best breakfast I have ever had in a long time.... Great job team
I have celiac disease and have been here a few times and the food and service was good. However this morning I went and ordered the same thing I had the past few times with no issues I was informed that the kitchen would not be able to accommodate my allergy as I cannot have any cross contamination and that there were only 2 things on the entire menu that I could choose from. Mind you the two things to choose from were minus the hash browns and toast with the only sub being a small fruit bowl and still paying the same price. The waitress was very nice about everything and very apologetic when we decided not to order anything. However I felt like it is very poor of the restaurant to only be able to accommodate allergies when it s convenient for them.
Like Victoria? Like breakfast? Ya gotta go here. Watch costs! They add up fast.
I picked this little restaurant without knowing that it is extremely popular. It is just on the north side of Chinatown and was an easy walk from our hotel. There was a lineup when we arrived but we lucked out and a table for two opened up right away. They also have seating at a small bar. The chicken sausages and homemade pork patties taste incredible!
Delicious food that my entire family enjoyed
YUMMERS!!!!!! Service was fabulous and the food came out super sonic speedy quick The pear and Brie Benny was heavenly yum yum yum Food
Jam cafe never disappoints. We ve been to Jam cafes in vancouver multiple times but it was our first time in victoria and it was same experience as always. I always ate Bennys at Jam Cafe but we had our 4 months old boy with us. So i tried charlie bowl in case i have to carry my son and eat at same time and it actually happened . Bowl was so good with jalapeño sauce and bottomless coffee. My wife wanted to have something light so she just order omelette and bread slices. They found us counter a little extra spacious to put car seat. Our server was really good as well. She was pretty understanding letting us take time to manage baby and with boiled water for baby food. Will come here for here during our next vacation here at victoria. Keep it up @jamcafeyyj.
Finally. A place where you enjoy a good meal, good and pleasant service. No wonder the place is full and the lineups half a block. Will certainly go back soon. Food
We are from Ontario and it was suggested to try this place. It did not disappoint. The service and food were ideal. It was a bit of a wait but definitely worth it
10/10 would absolutely recommend!! The line may seem long, but it moves quickly, and they never disappoint with their fabulous food and even more amazing services. My favorite breakfast spot for sure
Soggy Avacado toast! Nothing more disappointing than a lack of crunch. Avacado was brown ( use some lemon juice!). Nice atmosphere and quick service on the plus side.
Soooo tasty! Gluten free options and worth the line-up! Yummy.. Also lovely staff and primo service from each of them.
We got breakfast to go on my birthday when we were in town and even though it was to go, it was delicious! Friendly staff when we came to pick up too. Would definitely come back if we re in town again!
Woke up this morning had a major craving for a Eggs Benedict not sure if they still do the most awesome Benny on the planet creativity at its best l haven t been there since before the pandemic , l actually moved to Nanamio and l miss all of my favourite Cafes / restaurants and the Jam Cafe is definitely # 1 .
Very large portions so be ready for that. One item can feed 2 no problem. Super good quality food in a quaint little diner. Service was outstanding and when in Victoria again we will make this a go to for breakfast. Get there early, line can get long.
It s a local brunch cafe with a really hot atmosphere. As a cafe that focuses on brunch, business hours are short, so make sure to check carefully before visiting! There were so many customers, including tourists and local students, that the wait was about 15 minutes. Chicken on top of French toast... It was unfamiliar, but I really enjoyed it! The whole bacon eggs Benedict is also soft and delicious. Please note that all menu items are large in size! I sat at the bar, and all the staff, including the bartender, were really friendly, so it was a pleasant lunch. The store interior is also really cute.. If you come to Korea...!!!
Waited outside about 30 min and it was totally worth it! After trying this spot for the first time I would wait an hour for this food. Had the chicken and waffle and asked if they could make the chicken the Nashville hot style & Boom! Added quite a bit of spice along with the sausage gravy. My son had the breakfast tacos & wife had the pork belly Benedict. All 5 Stars! Great music, great atmosphere! Highly recommend this spot even if theres a wait.
Kids happy. Parents happy
Fun place
The Rueben was super delicious. The kids pancakes were the tastiest ones weve ever had. The service was 5/5. They were very accommodating and worked around with the stroller I had with me. The wait for a table was 10-15 and totally worth it.
We were there when the door opened and we received kind and courteous service. The avocado benny was awesome and I highly recommend it. We were visiting from Washington state and when we come back we will visit Jam Cafe again.
Hands down the best breakfast Ive ever had in my life. I had Charlie bowl and Caesar, great combo and super filling. The amount of flavor that they were able to get into that bowl is absolutely mind-blowing. Comfort food at its finest. Update: second visit, somehow better than the first. Nashville hot chicken Benny and an Irish coffee. Both stellar.
Great brunch place! Good coffee too.
Amazing breakfast! I need to go back and try the chicken because it looked incredible but my French Toast and bacon was so good!
Having been to Jam Cafe in Vancouver many times and enjoying great food and service, we were very excited to visit Jam Victoria. Sadly the service was pathetic - our server forgot our order and was very nonchalant about it when we asked where it was. The food was below average and I the milk used in my coffee was stale; it made me feel sick... Didnt feel good after the visit and wouldnt recommend it again.
I have to say I m very disappointed with food. I had an omelette it was absolutely horrible, the toast was hard as a rock . Coffee was disgusting. It s also over priced comparing to other restaurants in Victoria. The only plus is the service, our waitress was fantastic. It s not worth the hip and will not be back Parking: Parking can be an issue
Food always felt a little undercooked, but the variety is amazing. The ambience is beautiful, with rustic items, and a sort of 80s-breakfast-diner feel. The hash browns were not so good, but the bacon is a must have. Service was quick. Highly recommend sitting on the bar swats as the bartender is cheerful to take your order and get the food quick. Parking: Paid parking by street. There are parking spots and occasional pay boxes. Does not accept debit or cash. Always look for your spot number and keep your printed ticket handy.
This is hands down my favorite breakfast spot. The staff is incredibly attentive and helpful, and the food is both delicious and served quick considering the high quality. I would definitely go here again. A solid 10/10 experience!
who knew it would cost $3.25 - $3.5 for a side of buffalo sauce? Who knew it would cost $3 - $4 to have the fried chicken done Nashville style? A heads up by the server ought to be mandatory. Also, why remove the salmon benny from the menu? it was my go to item.
Fun little place with a great breakfast menu. The wait takes a while, but they have most diners in and out in under 45 minutes.
Tried cinnamon pancakes it was fluffy and good. Would love to try Benedict next time if there is no huge line up haha!
Bit of a line up for a table, but the chicken & waffles was worth the wait
We went to have breakfast with my husband and there is only brunch. There are many options to eat sweets. We ordered two brunches: the avocado was a little black, the potatos were not hot and did not taste good (it was not fresh). the portions are not big. It is expensive.
Can t help but talk with other patrons about how good their meals are too!
Our waitress didn t even come back to our table and ask how meal was or if we needed anything else. Food was mediocre. Overrated
Iced coffee and eggs Benny! And treat yourself to at least 1 pancake with the warm maple butter syrup
Very cozy cafe. A varied menu that should please anyone. Fast, friendly, and attentive service. Highly recommend, just get there early
We waited about 15 minutes outside early on Saturday morning for a table. Once seated, we reviewed the tantalizing menu finding it difficult to make our choices - everything looked outstanding. We decided on Nashville Eggs Benedict and Southern Eggs Benedict, poached soft. When the food arrived, both dishes looked beautiful. The Nashville Benny was delicious, however the eggs were overdone. When this was brought to the servers attention, the response was this is how we do them here. We then asked for Tabasco sauce, as the Southern Benny was ok, but needed some additional flavour. We were told we would have to pay $0.60 for the Tabasco. No thank you. Spending $24 for breakfast, each, we felt nickeled and dimed. Its a shame, because we had talked about coming back to try some of the other dishes.
Unbelievable atmosphere of old antiques & collectibles! Great service & the Benny was very enjoyable! All around very pleasant experience!!
What a great place for breakfast! This place has all-day breakfast and lunch and it s delicious. This location is the original Jam restaurant, so it was cool to eat here. The menu is pretty big and they have quite great options. The store café a decent layout and it s a lot longer than it is wide. The best thing about this place is the food and drinks. The place is pretty clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. I would totally recommend this place and I will go back again if I m in the area. I heard they have another location in Vancouver too.
We love the food but the wait time after we ordered took so long. At least 20-30 mins. This needs to be improved
This place is a little gem we found, I had the amazing peach French Toast. All the food was great and had really good service. This is a place I will go back often.
I had a terrible experience with this cafe. I dont think i ll ever forget it. I would not recommend this place especially if you have kids. Food is okay but customer service is terrible. They dont care much for people with kids even when it is raining out & there was an available table but because one your friends is not there yet they wont let you in. They let you wait outside in the cold rain with your baby or child. There is no compassion there.
Very friendly staff and the food was great. They were very conscious and helpful with celiac ordering on a busy Saturday which is so appreciated! Will definitely go back
Food was extremely delicious, they are very busy but the customer service is still really good! They almost always have a line up, so if you re hungry leave home as soon as you can lol Food
Easily one of the Top 5 best breakfast spots in Victoria!! 5/5 for food, service, and atmosphere!!! Must go!! There is a little bit of a wait time but totally worth it!!!
Its fine.... nothing extraordinary
The food was incredibly delicious, my new favourite spot in Victoria. I wish I knew about this 12 years ago. Hands down best breakfast in Victoria.
Great food! Huge sizes! We tried different things pork belly eggs Benedict, veggie bowl and french toast and they were all awesome! Eggs Benedict are great and big for one person, but I would say bowls are for two, theyre huge! French toast is a mots I would say, we tried the apple one and it was unbelievable! The waiting times are a bit long but I would say they are worth it. It would be better if you could write your name down and come back, but still is good. Buttermilk biscuits are very good and special too. Definitely a great place for breakfast/brunch! Vegetarian options: They have a great deal of vegetarian options. There are also vegan options. Dietary restrictions: A lot of gluten free options Parking: Not to many spots to park, but if you park 3-4 streets down (getting further away from DT) there is 2h free parking Wheelchair accessibility: Theyre in street level floors
Honestly, one of the best breakfast house I visited. The food is just unbeatable in portion and taste, prices are more than fair for the quality of the options. I ve been to both locations (Vancouver and Victoria) and they have the same delicious menu. Something frustrating about Jam Cafe (both locations) is the waiting line. I had two unfortunate situations where I got to the line and they told us the cafe wouldn t be able to serve us food considering their closing time. I have waited 80 minutes to be seated because we needed a table for 4. I won t ever understand what s behind the no-reservations policy while customers have to wait easily 1 hour for a table on weekends. Besides this excruciating wait time, Jam is one of my favourite places to have brunch. I get there every time I forget how long the line was last time or any time I am not hungry (yet).
Jam Cafe was a delightful brunch experience. They have a diverse menu. We ordered the Fried Chicken Benedict , it combines the richness of perfectly poached eggs with the crispiness of fried chicken and the Banana & Walnut Waffle was exceptional, it provides a sweet and nutty indulgence, with each bite offering a delightful combination of textures. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it an ideal spot to enjoy a leisurely brunch with friends or family. Overall, Victoria Jam Cafe impresses with its delicious dishes and charming atmosphere, making it a must-visit for brunch enthusiasts in the area.
Shocking treatment 8:10am 20 March. We are visitors from Australia, and got up early to try this place. However, we received disgusting treatment upon arrival. Staff need to learn to be respectful, polite and not treat customers like cattle at the doorway.
Ive been a fan of Jam Cafe for years, but I have to say that the portions have decreased in size, especially the size of the hash browns that accompany many breakfast items. The other down side to breakfast here is the coffee - so awful. Please change suppliers and this coffee (Drum Roasters) is really not great.
Best brunch in Victoria :)
Absolutely love this place. Have been to the Jam in Vancouver and liked it too. So happy to see this place here in Victoria, its awesome! Parking: Had to park kiddy corner to the restaurant, not too far away but there was street parking.
Quite fantastic food a must stop if in Victoria
Came here at 2:00 on Sunday not much of a wait. Food is really good, the fried chicken was moist and well seasoned and crunchy and was yummy with the waffle. The Charlie Bowl is a savoury surprise with every bite - it s breakfast in bowl format. The green onions on both really complement the flavours. The Hot Buttered Bourbon is really delicious and addictive.
Delicious breakfasts and fun atmosphere. One of Victoria s gems.
Great service and delicious food. Great prices.
After we finish eating my daughter asked for something sweet she s 3 so we ask to get the menu to order dessert for her and the answer we got is no you can t order more food there is people waiting outside like who does that that not the service you expect when you paying money for your food , and the worst of all we told it to the owner and he s answer was yeah you can t order more food , we will never come back it s was so embarrassing
Amazing food and service. Loved the pork belly Benny! Staff was on the ball! Food : 5/5
usually long wait time but food is worth it
Came on a weekday. Wasnt busy and got seated for a large group immediately. Usually long waits on weekend. The food was great and service was very nice! They also have kids options which was a deciding factor to come to this restaurant.
We love this place! 100%, absolutely worth the wait!!
Food was ok.. wasn t many gluten free options. Only replacement of bread they did was more hash browns which seemed very buttery. Had to wait 30 minutes to get in. But was a weekend. For the price it s not worth it
Full of truly unique and delicious menu items, I highly recommend viva Victoria!
Friendly staff and the food is delicious. Definitely worth a visit!
I had heard about jam cafes food for soo long and everyone waiting hours to get in I finally got in after 6 years in this city in a reasonable time to say the least to be highly disappointed. The food is highly average for the hype the dealbreaker was the service for me. Me and my sister ordered 2 teas and 2 bennys , once we got our food and right after the first bite we decided we wanted a side of single pancake, we were told they don t do that and we normally have to order all together but they will still do it just this once, which felt very passive aggressive. The billl was slapped on the table even before we were done eating. The ambience was over all decent. But Do yourself a favour and go find the same food in a more welcoming place.
Dont get the hype. Food doesnt hold up anymore. Would work well for families
Worth the half hour line. Weve enjoyed the Vancouver location and Victoria is terrific too. Even though we warned ourselves not to order too much...we did. Eggs, pulled pork, bacon, salad plate sized biscuits were all delicious. Corn bread wasnt what I expected, sliced bread with corn somehow added. Just not our cup of tea. Seating a little cramped. Walked around the, just of the beaten path, neighborhood afterwards and saw fun and funky places.
Long lineup
I took my girlfriend there on a surprise trip and the atmosphere was perfect, the server was a happy morning person and made our morning haply and cheerful. The food has incredible flavor and was cooked
Great place for a couple or friends breakfast. It is not cheap but Jam has a very interesting menu! Be prepared for a lineup.
I rarely write negative reviews, but our recent visit to Jam Cafe left much to be desired. What was supposed to be a relaxed brunch turned into a series of unfortunate events that dampened our entire experience. Firstly, the service was far from welcoming. Staff members came across as rude and cold, giving us the impression that they were more interested in rushing us out than ensuring a pleasant visit. This was evident right from the beginning when we lined up outside. We were informed of a 45-minute wait, which seemed reasonable at the time. To pass the time, we decided to grab a coffee across the street. However, barely five minutes later, we were abruptly called for our table with a warning that if we didn t show up immediately, we would lose our spot. The tone was unnecessarily rude, forcing us to abandon our coffees at the nearby cafe in a rush. The negative vibe unfortunately continued inside. The once-lauded food quality at Jam Cafe has noticeably declined. The banana pancakes, a dish I used to enjoy here, were a major letdown - they were almost dry and lacked flavor. Equally disappointing were the bennies; they were hard and not nearly as tasty as I remembered. Overall, this visit to Jam Cafe was a series of letdowns - from the service to the food. It s disheartening to see a place you once enjoyed fail to deliver the quality and experience it used to be known for. I hope they take this feedback seriously and work towards improving both their customer service and culinary standards. Feel free to modify or add any additional details to better reflect your experience.
Great little breakfast place with fast service! Chicken and waffles was good, hash was amazzzzinggg and the latte was mediocre. Drinks are pricey but would still recommend for the food!
The best breakfast place, their consistency is next level. Worth the wait. There fried chicken benny are one of my favourites.
Its always lined up here, so I took advantage of a snowy day and was able to secure a table without waiting, although it was still the last table available. The venue is quite small and the tables are very close together. I felt like I was eating lunch with strangers. Service to order and get food was fast, although it took a while to get our bill. I think I might have ordered the wrong things because I wouldnt say I loved it, but it was good. We shared breakfast tacos which were bland, but potentially owing to their not having bacon on them. The cinnamon bun pancakes were huge and tasty, and very sweet.
On Tuesday around 11 am, I went with a friend. We had been there before, and the food and service were good. We decided to go again; the food was fine, and the portions were generous. However, the service was unpleasant. Our server, Kiersten, left the bill on the table without us requesting it while we were still eating. A few minutes later, she approached with the POS for payment. We explained that we hadnt asked for the bill and wanted to order more food. Unfortunately, Kiersten rudely informed us that she couldnt give us the menu, as it was the new policy not to order more once an order was placed. We didnt understand this unreasonable attitude. Despite seeing people waiting outside, there were two available tables. Although she reluctantly handed us the menu again, we decided to leave the place where we apparently werent welcome. I regret that such service is the reason I dont plan to return and will share my experience with friends who ask about this place. One expects to enjoy good food and pleasant service. What a lack of judgment to implement such absurd policies when a restaurant aims to sell, not deny the sale.
Queues don t lie. Worth the wait, but expensive.
