723 Pandora Ave, Victoria, BC V8W 1N8, Canada
For over almost forty years we have been making everything from scratch including our herb bread, cornbread and all our salad dressings. When Food Network Canada was filming, “You Gotta Eat Here” we made our Southwestern Meatloaf, Belgian Waffles with our own cream cheese syrup and our best seller, Eggs Benedict with an authentic real butter hollandaise sauce and we had a blast doing it.
love this place! it is clear why this place is one of the city’s gems! Highly highly recommend the Norm Cash Club!! SO GOOD
Best place for breakfast or brunch. The foods are tasty. We came in desember love the decorations Service was good and fast. The cappucino needs improvement tho. But we definitely will come back
John's Place Restaurant: A Spooktacular Dining Experience in Victoria 🎃🍽️✨ During a Halloween visit to Victoria, I stopped by John's Place Restaurant, a beloved local gem at 723 Pandora Ave. 🏮🎃 The festive decorations turned the restaurant into a haunted haven, complete with cobwebs, jack-o’-lanterns, and spooky lighting! 🕸️👻 The fun and cozy atmosphere made it the perfect spot for a holiday meal. 🍂✨ Known for its homemade comfort food 🍴❤️, John's Place truly lived up to its reputation. I indulged in their flavorful dishes like the Southwestern Meatloaf and the famous Belgian Waffles with cream cheese syrup—an absolute treat featured on Food Network's *You Gotta Eat Here*. 🧇🍖 The attentive staff and generous portions made the experience even more special. 😊👏 Whether you’re looking for a hearty breakfast, a warm meal, or a festive vibe, John's Place delivers it all with a side of charm. 🎉🎃 It’s a must-visit spot in Victoria, especially during holiday seasons when the ambiance is as delightful as the food! 🥞🍽️✨ Can’t wait to return for another delicious and memorable meal! 🌟❤️🎉
What a lovely little place! I visited with my boyfriend and we both loved it. It was surprisingly quiet when we came but the food was so delicious. The pictures on the wall are so interesting! Our server was so nice aswell, great value👍
This is easily the best breakfast I’ve ever had. I got the waffle and classic Benny, both were INSANELY good. Their espresso and milk frothing machine was broken, but they were still able to make cold drinks, which were delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone, and when I come back to Victoria this will easily be a place I return to!
Famous people eat here…. And so do regular folks. Very friendly service and just far enough from tourist ville that you don’t have to wait in a line on a Friday….. weekends though be prepared to wait.. had myself a delicious Benny … it’s always nice to try something different.. this new to me Benny was worth the risk of trying something new…. If you are looking for a Victoria classic … skip the j jar and head to johns.
It was our first time in Victoria, and we decided to try this place based on several food blog recommendations and high ratings. Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the food. The omelette was particularly disappointing (I do not know a simple omelette can be that bad where I couldn’t finish it), and the prices are too high for the quality of service and food.
Top notch brunch all over. This place is almost 40 years old now and the vibe and the food is amazing. The service was pretty quick too and we enjoyed the morning here. The vibe is very sporty with big sports photos all over.
Best brunch in vic! Food is phenomenal and so are the staff every server I ve ever had here has been unbelievably friendly and welcoming, especially some of the older ladies! On busy days like weekends you should expect a bit of a wait for a table and maybe for the food, but it s so worth it and always goes faster than you would think.
The staff were so nice . I never had meatloaf for breakfast but it was amazing I recommend trying this place
Arrived before opening on a Sunday morning, hadn t been in years and wanted to see if the magic was still alive doors opened with warm welcome and inviting atmosphere, told to take any seat we wanted, grabbed a warm booth and hot coffee to start off. Bfast was just like I remembered all those years ago, cooked perfectly and ample serving! Love all the memorabilia on the walls and the sense of history and timelessness of the place.
Mathew was very friendly and knowledgeable good food
What a restaurant should be like.
November 2024 update. Its been a while but Johns Place is still amazing. The posters and memorabilia can occupy you for a while if you allow. Tried the chicken and waffles this trip and it was delicious. The service is excellent. Definitely stop in. [from September 2022] Amazing as promised. Worth a short wait! Really good coffee, beautiful mochas (like dessert), and do not fail to try the Benedict on cornbread. Perfect spot!
Amazing vibe. Throwback to when service felt like you were treated like family. Warm welcome and great service with that classic menu that feels like comfort.
My husband and I stood in line on Monday to enjoy 1984 prices & celebrate Johns 40th anniversary. Have been coming to Johns for 22 years - amazing food, amazing friendly staff, & thank you John for your 40 years.
Amazing decor. Delicious food served hot. Attentive servers. Will be back for sure
Excellent diner! Always fun, good food & nice service.
The waffles with churro topping and cream cheese were insane Vegetarian options: We also had the vegan tofu scramble, so delicious Food : 5/5 |
Long time customer. Consistently good food, great service, diner style. Today had the huevos rancheros, good plate of food, but what component has sugar in it, sauce or beans? In my opinion, better without. Thanks, great breakfast.
Im impressed that the place has been there for 40 years. The service is awesome! I dont think the atmosphere has changed in that time but I did appreciate the celebrity pictures on the wall. The food is regular dinner food as expected.
My experience was okay; it s a simple restaurant, and the service wasn t great. The food was well-served and good. The special part was seeing the many autographs there.
Great food, love the atmosphere and friendly service! Get there early as it gets busy.
Ive been going since 1996. Went for their 1984 retro menu week. What a blast. A must visit whenever you visit Victoria. Thanks, John and Gang.
It was a bit too busy and squeezed in for me on a Sunday. Would go a different day. Excellent food and the service was very good considering how busy it was.
Absolutely on of the best all day breakfast restaurants in Victoria.
(Excuse me, not the best picture here ) I ve been here for many times, and there are too many reasons to love this place: -Items are not over priced -Friendly staff -Unique atmosphere Absolutely LOVE the cornbread!
Food was lovely and despite the restaurant being very busy it all came very fast!!
Great ambience. Super food at great prices.
Absolutely the best place for brunch in Victoria!! I ve been there two times and of course it s pretty packed but the line goes quick compared to other places ( and plus it s very worth it ). Their eggs Benedict and their hollandaise sauce is really amazing. We wanted to go for the waffles too but our very nice waitress told us their lemon pancakes are a must since they don t have it all the time and oh my god they are probably the best ones I ve ever had( I m a big fan of lemon and zesty things so if you are too this is perfect for you). I also want to say that the service in this place is spot on, every single worker there does an amazing job even though how crazy busy it is. I m definitely coming back again here!!!
Always enjoy going here and the wait isnt usually too bad, especially when you have a small group. The pancakes are bigger than your face but delicious
Great fun, loud and staff were friendly and attentive to our needs. Food was good, glad we didnt get caught in the line up
I would like to express gratitude to John s Place and their staff for their continued support of Canadians serving in the profession of arms by providing a complimentary meal to active service members and veterans on the day after Remembrance Day. The prompt service that we received as a large group was above our expectations and each of John s staff made time to stop by our table for a quick conversation or to express their appreciation. Their support and willingness to offer a full compensation of our lunch means a lot - especially during economic downturns for small businesses where commercial food and labour costs are ever increasing. I will definitely continue to support this local business.
A classic diner with excellent and delicious breakfast options. Very tasty and large portions. If you enjoy vintage this is a must visit diner on the island!
Food is just delicious. Plates are abundant and service is super friendly. We had to wait for about 20 min, but it was worth it.
Came to see the place. Great atmosphere. Love all the pictures. Had the huevos ranchers to share and it was plenty. More of a rancheros pizza, with the sauce and all. Nice to try. Not amazing, but tasty and satisfying. Chorizo sausage was homemade, but not very flavorful, more mild.
Great
Great spot for brunch. Service was exceptional and polite. Delicious food. If I come back to the island, I m going straight here.
Perfect
Best diner in Victoria. Comfort food and excellent service. 30+ years! Happy 40th anniversary Johns Place. Nobody does it better! Food : 5/5
The savory cornbread is amazing. The meat in the meat lovers hash was a bit too oily for me. The place has a great vibe. Would still recommend to visit.
The eggs Benedict is the best in Victoria
Great restaurant, lots to look at with pictures all over the wall. Food was great with huge portions. Staff very busy but were always attentive. Will be returning for sure. Parking: Down town Victoria location. Come prepared to hunt for parking.
As usual, great food, huge portions, great service!!
Ive probably sat at every single table in this restaurant over the last 40 years. Today I celebrated with them on their birthday along with thousands of other people. This restaurant should be considered iconic if it isnt already. The staff and the family owners are what make this place relevant as a Victoria hotspot
Very good breakfast! Service was incredibly friendly and cheerful! Portions are really huge and the price-performance ratio is right. Clear recommendation for a delicious and great breakfast in Victoria!
I love John s Place!!! Amazing service as always! Started with being greeted by Tessa, a very sweet and friendly host and served by Avril who is just as lovely and has an amazing attitude. Pancakes are out of this world, service always makes you feel at home, and their whole menu is very reasonably priced! Atmosphere is welcoming and lively. Best breakfast/brunch in Victoria in my humble opinion!
Plenty of portions, great service and really good breakfast. Solid. Come on over
Polish Frittata, Loved it!
Excellent food, delightful staff, good music and unique decor
Wow! I think the best meal I have ever eaten in my life, Ive never had a gluten free waffle at a restaurant and it was 10/10. The cream cheese sauce was to die for, the potato pancake the egg benny was on was so delicious. Im going to have to come back to Victoria just to eat there again!!
Very nice place for breakfast. Delicious food and extremely polite staff! Signature dish is must have. Would really like if some organic chicken dishes would be added. Food
Johns is a Victoria legend. The pictures on the wall tell just a tiny part of the story. The people are awesome, and the food always impressive...I do miss the Mediterranean Chili, Food
Amazing food. Interesting collection of autographed photos and memorabilia. Had a great time with friends on a work trip. Vegetarian options: Delicious vegetarian options
Nothing special, menu is ok but no Halal option.
An experience in itself. With beautiful food.
Friendly service. Large delicious portions. Pancakes are HUGE. My mouthwatering breakfast photos posted may look like they may have been Photoshop enhanced, but theyre not.
Food was okay. Best was their crispy hash or home fries ! I could definitely have more of that. Unfortunately, our dining experience was ruined by the fruit flies & flies. We were seated by the window and there were so many of them hovering our food and table. Some even shared our food lol Maybe ask to be seated elsewhere if you do come! Edit: As per the owner s response, I emailed them regarding our experience but I still haven t heard back yet..
Excellent breakfast. Had the traditional Benny and my kids had waffles. Chorizo is amazing as is the house made creamcheese syrup. Staff are very friendly as always
This place is a must go if you re ever in Victoria. The food is unmatched, and very reasonably priced for the portions and quality. I d go for the atmosphere alone because it s such a vibe! I have a gluten allergy and they re very accommodating, with gfree waffles. And of course their cream cheese maple syrup. You have to go!
Really amazing food at a great price and the staff are always lovely. Bring money for the jukebox!
Great vibes, a ton of wall art photos to look at, friendly service
It was beyond disappointing. Worse than fast food quality, nothing was fresh or hand made. You can find better prepared food even in Safeway or Walmart! I am not sure how they get these reviews. Food : 1/5
Pretty decent place. Waffles were memorable. Kid-friendliness: They had kids menu and they were appropriately sized and priced. Food : 4/5 |
Great place with unusual decor, attentive service and above all very generous portions!
Great atmosphere, super friendly host and good food! Had to queue to get in but the line moved fast and was worth the wait. Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options for brunch!
Hearty traditional Canadian breakfast and good coffee in a very interesting set
This place is phenomenal. Regardless of whether you have to wait or not the atmosphere, food, service and quality is just incredible.
The chicken is impossibly delicious. Excellent, quick service. The bread is so soft and warm and tasty. I never review restaurants but this place had the best chicken I ve ever had and was just a life changing experience. I feel bad for anyone who hasn t ate here.
I love it here, my family and I always make it one of our stops to have the amazing waffles and cream cheese syrup! Staff is super friendly, and they make sure you re not rushed but are always right there if you need anything or need to pick up the cheque!
Not your average breakfast place. The food is fabulous and made in house. Great service. The only draw back is that it is loud but that s mostly because it s so popular!
I went there because it was right next to the hotel. The atmosphere was nice, the food was delicious, and the servers were friendly! I had eggs Benedict, but it was a lot so I think I could have ordered a half size.
Just lovely lovely food. You will not go hungry. The staff were superb and the restaurant itself was lovely!
Great, funky heritage breakfast spot in downtown Victoria. Hollandaise is so good it s criminal. Kid/family friendly. Busy, fun atmosphere. See if you can spot the signed photo of Tom Hanks. Servers were attebtive and the coffee flows like wine :) Kid-friendliness: Good kids menu and appropriate portions/prices. Our kids loved looking around at all the photos/art on the walls.
Make a reservation before coming especially on weekend. Not well managed, staff are clearly overwhelmed and it is reflected in service and your order. Too bad cause the breakfast food is great. Dietary restrictions: Celiac friendly waffles. Pancakes too if you like potato pancakes.
The food was delicious i had a waffle with whip cream and syrup.
There is a waitress who apparently does not like her job, her service was very hypocritical.I hope it wasnt discrimination for being from another country, (thats how I felt). I was going to leave the tip in cash, when I paid by card I put no tip. She got angry and She was a little aggressive. After seeing his behavior I decided not to leave him anything. However, the food and coffee is very good. Thank you!
Walked past this place numerous times on our journeys, Johns place was a place we could not forget. We decided to stop in on this rainy day in Victoria and were not disappointed. I had the meatloaf and my wife had the breakfast burrito. We had a lovely server named Liz who met all of our needs with a smile and a joke to match. Weve made a promise that once a month we will return.
Only SO-SO!
Very delicious breakfast there. Nice atmosphere. Great service
Best service my friends and I had during our week on the island! And the prices are good as well.
There may be a line up, but it is worth the wait! Consistently fantastic.
The odd couple comes with a cream maple syrup that sends you places. Do yourself a favor and try this place. You will return! Food
Amazing!!! I am celiac and the waffle and eggs Benedict was simply amazing I highly recommend!!!! Dietary restrictions: Celiac friendly
Great service and food
Definitely should stop here for a simple breakfast! They get the classics done right. The hollandaise wasnt anything special but it was good with a generous slice of ham with several bread options instead of an English muffin. London fog was small but good. Waffle was light and crispy with an interesting homemade cream cheese sauce (or syrup). Build your own omelette was tasty too!
The restaurant is always crowded and it s all a bunch. The waiter were really nice and friendly. Service is great, feels like everyone knows everyone when we got there. We ordered the famous salmon Benedict. The sauce was a bit sour but sweet and the bread is made out of cornmeal, it was quite unique. Thank goodness Salon was not very salty. Must order full size because half is not worth it. The dish is very full and delightful.
Worst server ever. Watch out for this skinny blonde server. She will get you the wrong order and your total will include the tip already. Hope this is not racism .
I went to search. It was a great start to our trip to Victoria. It was really tasty and delicious. For my younger son, this is the most memorable place on this trip.@@ I think Ill go back to Vancouver Island because I want to go here. Highly recommended!!! Although there is a lot of waiting for customers, work very proactively while continuing to arrange appropriate table arrangements. Be sure to go!!
John s Place is a cozy diner vibes restaurant with a great menu offering and friendly service. The walls are rich with history featuring the community that has come through over time. We enjoyed the John s Free Run Loaded, Bat out of Hell Meatloaf, and the Catch 22 (Waffle & Half Classic Benny) You Gotta Eat Here!
Johns place is delicious, the fried chicken was amazing the waffles were light and fluffy and that cream cheese syrup was AMAZING
My favourite lunch spot! Rotating weekly soups that are always to die for. A bit too busy for my taste for breakfast/brunch but is always chill at lunch time. Lunch staff are always super sweet too :)
Nice atmosphere and serves. The breakfast is basic yet tastes good, we tried the veggie burrito and build your own omelette. We enjoyed the keylime pie. And it was a nice gesture with the free cupcakes for Canada Day, loved the blueberry one! Food
The best place for breakfest, there is no better.
Loved it. Amazing decor, great food and great service.highly recommended and best breakfast of our road trip so far.
As a celiac I was so impressed with their concerns and attention to my needs, not to mention the several gluten free options they have. I had the gluten free eggs Benedict with potato pancake base and it tasted delicious!! The service was outstanding! Definitely recommend!
This brunch spot offers a fantastic dining experience with excellent service and delicious food.
Super funky place. We really enjoyed it. We got there just early enough that we didnt have to wait in line, but soon after we sat down there was a line out the door! Dietary restrictions: They had options for lactose intolerant people.
There s a reason John s place keeps appearing as the #1 place for breakfast in Victoria. Food is yummy (although my Eggs Benny sauce was a bit on the heavy side for me) and staff are always appearing to refill your coffee and friendly and chatty. Recommend picking up some of their coffe beans (which they sell), because their coffee is great. Kid-friendliness: Kid friendly menu with drawing
Nice place, good eggs benny with great gluten-free substitute options Dietary restrictions: Gluten free buns available, gluten free waffle batter. Food : 5/5 |
Food is wonderful, service is so friendly and atmospheric is bustling. Love this place . For our first breakfast in Victoria it was perfect!
The best eggs Benedict Ive ever had! Such cool ambiance with all the sports and entertainment collectibles everywhere! Super friendly staff and quick service too!
A really interesting place for Canadian food!
We had the best service we ve ever had in Victoria, not to mention a delicious breakfast. Thank you, Mathew, for taking such great care of us!
Always amazing
Decent little place, friendly staff. Benedict and French toast were great. Pancake and waffles were a little undercooked. Bacon was decent, sausage was a little bland. Coffee was BAD!
I came here 10 years ago and remembered the corned beef hash being really good, and still just as good today! Loved it, and the waffle with cream cheese syrup was such a delight, the waffle was light and crispy! Loved my breakfast experience very much, will be back!
just like others who visited this place, I would love to come back if Im visiting Victoria. Egg Benny is simply the best. odd couple was awesome as well. Dont miss this spot
Great restaurant. The burgers were juicy and the side salad was good. The serving size was generous. Service was ok but not great. Waiters seem to somehow forget some about requests and we had to ask several times.
Amazing place for brunch! Great atmosphere with so much history too. Service was friendly and quick. Got seated quickly. All the food had large portions too. A must visit when you re in Victoria!
Bad news: they don t do dinner anymore Good news: they ve blend in their dinner menu into the brunch one! Food
This place is practically an institution in Victoria. If you visit Victoria and want to go to a uniquely Victoria place this is where you should start your first morning here. The staff is warm and funny, the look is distinct and unique and the food is some of the best breakfast food you can ask for. I am not much of a breakfast person but I have been to many breakfast places across Canada and out and this place is one of the best if not the best. It definitely has the best French Toast I have ever had. Their eggs Benny is also very good as well.
Nice atmosphere, food was good, maybe slighty greesy for my taste, some lemon would help. The service was very friendly. The food came slow as it was very busy. Classic diner style, I still recommend.
Great place for brunch with good portions. Friendly, efficient service.
The eggs Benedict were divine. Beware you only need to order one pancake. They are huge and they are excellent with their cream cheese syrup. I had their Catch 22 which was one Benedict and one Belgian. Waffle. Perfect combo. .
Excellent food ! Their hollandaise is amazing and their homemade cream cheese syrup is to die for ! The service was great and even though we went late and it was a full house we got seated after 5 minutes. Highly recommend and will be coming back regularly! Vegetarian options: There are veggie options and gluten free options
One of the best brunch I ve ever had! Although it took us about an hour to get a table, it was definitely worth it. Food, service and atmosphere all is great. Thanks Food
The food was yummy. The serving size was enough to share! And prices are good. Service was also very good and friendly! Must visit in Victoria! Food
Walked by yesterday, HAD to go in. Its s good sign when theres a lineup even before its open. The breakfast was EPIC, the Latte was delicious. Definitely would go again Food
I quite enjoyed the food and atmosphere!!
Great food! Huge portions! Their eggs Benedict was the best! Dietary restrictions: They have a great gluten-free toast substitution! Food : 5/5 |
A German-speaking travel guide mentioned this restaurant as a tip. Found the day before on a city tour and visited for breakfast with 4 men at 10:30 a.m. We were all very happy with our orders with different dishes.
Wonderful place to eat. Generous portions. Quality service unique fun atmosphere. Lots of options. 5 stars Thank you.
The lighting is beautiful and the atmosphere is great, the food is served quickly and is delicious
A great North American dining experience, worth a visit
A fun dining experience
Pierogis are delicious and the staff is so friendly.
I love this place, the food is delicious
Went here with kids. Servers and host were amazing. The bread we were served first was like a bite into heaven! We went an 1hr before they close and my 4yr old asked for pancake which the server honored but told me they dont usually make pancake at lunch. Later came back and they the kitchen has put away the pancake stuff. My child started bawling and I asked if an exception can be made since we came all the way from Alberta based on the reviews we read. Of course they refused to make her a pancake. We ordered a total of $85 worth of food. My burger was completely tasteless and I have eaten some tasteless burger but this did top them all. There was no element of spice or flavor to it, as in completely bland! I had to dump it in the garbage. My salad was really great though and my kids burger was equally good so they told me. I also ate a gooseberry, so yeah some comfort there. But will I be returning again? Not so sure. I hope the server gets the tip.
Love this place best eggs Benny Ive ever had food service prices this place has it all highly recommended I eat here everytime Im in victoria
Great place with great service and delicious food. Very cool atmosphere. Would definitely return.
The food was good. Our server was doing the best she could with little help. The pictures on the wall were pretty cool.
busy place but the food is amazing!
Ate here twice in 2 days. They have the secret sauce of diners. Fast service, delicious food. We had the traditional breakfast and the 22(?) which is half Benny and half waffle or pancakes. Yum! Added strawberries to their homemade cream cheese on the waffle which were fantastic. The hash browns were crispy and flavourful on the outside and soft on the inside. Stop here at least once when you are in Victoria. If we were staying longer wed work through the menu. Staff were great.
You wont find better or more filling. Staff are very friendly. You cant go wrong here. Food
Yummy food. This place is packed most days they turn over many a table. Delicious breakfasts hubby and I had. Get there early
Loved this diner/cafe. Service was excellent and food was great. Owner and staff super friendly even though we went at closing time. Vegetarian options: We got the bruschetta and the burrito, both of which were great.
John s Place is absolutely amazing! As a first time customer I didn t even really look at the menu. I put myself in the extremely capable hands of one of the best servers I ve ever met, Deborah! She served me their famous Belgian waffle and avocado bacon Benny. Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Atmosphere so charming and fun that you could spend hours just looking at the pictures. 10/10 Thank you very much for a great start to a beautiful day! My new favorite spot!
We were waiting a long time for the server to come and get our order even though I had to call for him, but they ignored us and kept talking to each other. The food was disappointing, too.
Each time we come to Victoria, this is a breakfast place. We don t miss we ve been coming for years! The food is good comfort fared with plenty of classic breakfast options some with a twist there are vegan vegetarian and gluten-free options so anyone in a group can dine together, as vegetarians, I often go for the tofu hash while the tofu could be marinated and made more flavorful, I really enjoy the mix of veggies and potatoes and salsa that it comes with and when I mix it all together, it s quite delicious. My kids enjoy the Belgian waffles and they make a special sauce with cream cheese and icing sugar. That s particularly tasty. The service is a bit slow, so don t come if you re in a hurry, and it has a very classic diner feel with a personal touch I recommend!
Thank you for your good service and accountability
Amazing place for brunch! The staff is wonderfully pleasant, we loved the interior design and the aesthetic and the food was absolutely amazing. A must come!
Love this place!!! Been coming here for years. Chicken & waffles, perogie & sausage breakfast, Salmon Benny, all 10/10. They make the BEST WAFFLES here! Soup & sandwich is great too. Lots of budget options as well!
Eggs benny were super tasty.
I want to recommend this restaurant if someone is looking for awesome taste and service in Victoria.
great place to have breakfast and brunch!
John s place never disappoints! Tons of great options on the menu, fast and friendly service. It s a staple to visit in Victoria!
Great History
The space is really fun and the portion sizes were fantastic. Our server was such a super star, she had some really great suggestions from the menu that we all loved we all just wish we could ve eaten more but we were so full! Definitely coming back!
Such a cool deco design! Food is pretty good too!
The best pancakes in the city. Honestly I have tried many menu items & specials and they are all very good. The servers Averil & Deb are absolutely the best, we thoroughly enjoy the Repartée with them every Sunday. Seth who is the host is also a very pleasant young fellow. Really our favourite breakfast place.
Long time customer, though only get to visit every couple of years. March visit was just ok. Meagre amount of hollandaise sauce on Benny, dry sausage on 222.
Interesting place with a unique feel, great food, and service. Great diner and breakfast place in a good old fashioned sense. They seem to know what they do and that for decades.
John Cantin is a genius!! Heres hoping for another 40 years of the BEST breakfasts and lunches in Victoria
Yummy in store baked potatoes and the veg wrap with quinoa It was so delicious Even the cake at the end was yummy as well. Overall very nice experience Food : 5/5 |
Fun place with hundreds of fun photos on the wall! Great service. Loved the perogies!
Love this place. Its a must go when visiting Victoria. The food was amazing and the service equally amazing. Kid-friendliness: Perfect kid portion!
Looks like a great place Parking: I didnt seeanything Food : 5/5 |
It s a must visit restaurant while you are in town a very good portion of food with supper friendly people ,lovely atmosphere
Went with my lovely soon to be wife for her 20th birthday was the first spot we hit on our vacation could not suggest it enough as a chef the food was amazing and flavorful so good we said screw the other breakfast places we will go back to this place thank you for your kindness johns
Its been over 12 years since I used to frequent this establishment, and while the menu and faces have changed, the service and atmosphere are as amazing and iconic as ever. I was mainly a dinner person back in those days, avoiding the long breakfast lineups. The line-up was well worth the wait this time.
Great service, tasty food, cool decor :) Parking: Parking outside on street Food : 5/5 |
Delicious, many celebrities have been here, classic brunch
great place for delicious breakfast
Quick service, good food. Had Clasic Eggs Benedict & home fries. Service was quick, price is reasonable.
Absolutely incredible, I had a black stone benny and I can now die happy
Hello I have been going to Johns place for many years weekly. I really regret to say this but the last 3 times I have been there the waitresses have been rude and rushed I m not sure what s going on because so many years most of the reason I would go besides the food being amazing was the family like feel and the great people that work there they make you feel like they care and enjoy talking with you . disappointed!! Thank you I love johns place hope to see some improvement in the way I was treated last 3 times I was there or I won t be returning again
Very kind and personable staff.
This used to be a go to place, with long lines outside waiting to get in. I was surprised there were no lines when I went by, so I went in. The place still has the old-time atmosphere I remember, but I think the quality of the food has slipped. I had an omelet and coffee - they were both OK, but nothing spectacular - Ive definitely had better.
Cozy diner with delicious food and big portions. Always come here when Im in victoria! They have gluten free options too :)) Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available :D)) Parking: Easier to walk to than park me thinks Wheelchair accessibility: Not at all, slight steps and too crowded to fit a wheelchair :(
For me one of the places you could not loose to visit in Victoria. If you are a tourist that like to just have one complete meal for visiting every single place of the city/town you are visiting this is the correct place to get it. The dishes are delicious and well served. You will be more than full and satisfied to have energy to tourist all day long! The dishes are delicious, the regular coffee it s better than getting a latte. And the dressing for the pancakes (I guess it s the restaurant own recipe) it s delicious, you can ask for more than 1.
First time there. Service was amazing and so was the food.
This was my first time here and the restaurant decor was reminiscent of my younger years. The serving staff were very welcoming and it was obvious they enjoy their jobs. Service was exemplary and very accommodating. Food was excellent and prices are very reasonable. Having been in business for 40 years is the result of a successful business and customer satisfaction. Thanks for the warm experience as a classmate and I had lunch. Congratulations to all
Best of the best.
Solid place for lunch or brunch. Always seems to be bustling. Fun memorabilia covering all the walls. Servers work really hard and are super
Wonderful brunch in the heart of Victoria. The brunch here is amazing, plenty of delicious options and the atmosphere is great. Always super busy though as it s a popular spot with locals, especially on a Saturday or Sunday morning. I would put it atop my list of the best brunch spots in Victoria for sure. Vegetarian options: Lots of yummy vegetarian options available.
What a great breakfast joint. Amazing service.
Amazing food and Amazing service
Absolutely THE best place to go! There is a reason theyre celebrating 40 years!!!! Most definitely will be back. Awesome vibes. Awesome food. You wont be disappointed, if you are....then theres something wrong with you. Hahaha Just GO!!!! Food
What a fun spot! This is your good ole breakfast diner- with super friendly service, lots of regulars, big portions of comfort food, and a whole lot of fun art/decor to check out! Thankful for gluten free options including gluten free bun for eggs Benedict, and homemade gluten free hollandaise. Since I m celiac, they noted they have a shared fryer, so I had a bowl of fruit instead of the deep fried potatoes. Also super thankful for the reasonably priced kids menu! My kids loved the French toast and the pancakes- and for 6.95$ this was such an affordable BIG breakfast for them! Plus a juice :)
