We came here not really knowing what to expect but had been walked by too many times. We both admitted this was the best Chinese food we had had as far as we could remember. Talking with the waiter and cook after who were great said they really focus on the authenticity of the Beijing style they know. We've never been to China but certainly know this was not your typical Western version of Chinese food and it showed in how incredibley delicious it was!
The owner is a true Beijinger, and the dishes are incredibly authentic. Highly recommended! It lets us enjoy the taste of home without having to go back to China!
Not impressed. The meatballs soup was bland, someone without any cooking skills could do a better job. The cabbage at $15 was way too expensive. The service was okay.
The beef fried rice and twice cooked pork was really good. The soup of beef noodle was kinda salty but it's alright. Still giving it 5 stars
As the ONLY traditional Beijing style duck plus cuisine, we enjoyed the food and service and had a wonderful dinner. Thank to Jimmy the restaurant owner, from Beijing, cooks delicious North China food. We will definitely come back again.
The waiter didn't understand us. The food came out cold. The dumplings were wonderful. The rest of the food was good. No hot tea was served, like another Chinese restaurant did, in Chinatown did.
I’m Chinese and this is easily the best Chinese restaurant on the island. So happy I found this gem! The owner is super nice and he makes his own noodles fresh in house. I recommend the beef noodles, dumplings, the eggplant dish and the amazing savory pancakes! The meatballs vermicelli soup from here is my absolute favorite, it’s so delicious and it’s not on the main menu so ask for that when you order. Can’t wait to come back to try the roast duck. Give this place a try and you won’t regret it
What a wonderful surprise ❣️. Fantastic tasty fresh food, of good proportions, cooked by a 30 year experienced Beijing chef. Service was fabulous, with a very humble, kind, gracious, friendly and gentle server. Didn’t have to wait at all for food to be prepared hot and fresh, even though they were busy with a constant stream of online delivery orders, and dine-in patrons. Humble environment, which only makes the experience more of an amazing meal. $$$
The chicken tastes like it just traveled through a desert without drinking a drip of water.
This Sixi meatball is the best. I heard it is a hidden menu. There is also braised pork with pickled vegetables to try next time.
We had The best Chinese hand made dumplings for winter festival with family. Kourou is also smooth and traditional. Strongly recommended.
Very delicious
Favourite takeout in the city. Faves are the cold noodles with sesame paste and mapo tofu. Portion sizes are also great, we always have leftovers!
Super friendly and affordable, authentic Beijing flavor, come back next time
Friendly staff, clean environment, and Im obsessed with the won ton soup!!
The hidden dish Braised pork with plum vegetables is so delicious! It melts in your mouth, the plum vegetables are fragrant, and it goes very well with rice. The shredded pork with Beijing sauce is also delicious and satisfying~
So good, I was born and raised in Beijing , and this is the best I have ever had before!! This is special, the chef only cooked for me hahah
Very authentic Chinese food in Victoria. The staff are very nice and friendly. Food is always delicious.
The shredded pork with Beijing sauce is delicious
Good food and great service
Got off cruise ship looking for hot tea and soup. This place was fantastic. Wonton soup was killer as was the almond chicken. Service was superb. Interior was inviting and clean. Highly recommend.
Nothing tasted fresh :( the dish is worst than I can make at home! Everything was too salty and oily, I just know my caloric intake is through the roof I got the sweet and sour pork, bok choy, and mapo tofu.
very nice
very good taste and good service love it
The duck didn t smell fresh but that might have just been us and the rest of the food was pretty good
Best authentic Chinese food in Victoria. We can taste the guo qi! Guo qi is an art. You need an iron wok, high heat, and perfect timing to deliver this authentic flavour. Delicious! The steamed grouper fish with ginger and green onions is amazing. Beef noodle soup with homemade noodles, Gong Bao chicken, and Hot and Sour Shredded Potato (Suan La Tu Do Si) so good! Small, clean homey restaurant with friendly owners. Suggest reserving a table for more than four during busy times.
They use fresh chicken in the fried rice which was a plus. Sticky rice is for pudding, not fried rice. The chef added salt to the cooking, and it was quite a bit oversalted; salt addition needs to be left to the customer. So I did not bother to ask for soya sauce. Beef in the fried rice was inferior, like a real low, tough grade was used. The taste of the beef was also weird. Both dishes were terribly greasy. Fried rice is supposed to be cooked fast with very little oil. My friends food was served between five and ten minutes after my food came to the table. The food is overpriced. The service was not very good. The woman worker was quite miserable which was not at all welcoming. She was annoyed when I asked for forks. She also did not come by once to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. I have never been to a Chinese restaurant that did not serve complimentary Chinese tea.
Found rocks in the mapo tofu.
They put rocks in food for some reason. Judging from some responses to negative reviews, they dont deserve your money.
The sweet sour pork and wonton soup is great , and good environment
I love their food especially the chow mein thats why I keeps coming back and forth because my cravings keep me satisfied.
Very authentic northern style food, will definitely recommend friends to come, a hidden treasure of Victoria! Dietary restrictions: Northern style Foods tend to be more spicy and salty, maybe have peanuts in certain dishes. Kid-friendliness: Yes, good for family dine out.
Best fried rice of downtown
Best Chow Mein in Victoria. The food was amazing, I even forgot to take a photo for this review because I just started eating right away! Food : 5/5
Infinitely delicious, very authentic Beijing, China delicacies
The Kong Pao Chicken felt like it was marinated in cornstarch for a month and tastes like chewing plastic. The sweet and sour pork were marinated in purple using coloring, which should be reported. The waiter had a bad attitude and couldnt even understand what we were saying. Will never come back again.
After researching a good restaurant near our hotel, we found Beijing Bistro at the top of Googles review list. Unfortunately, despite Googles claim that it was open until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, it was closed. Hopefully, you can change your hours online or at least put up a sign up why youre close.
Amazing food and services. Hundred percent will visit again.
Roast duck is totally unacceptable
This is a over all INCREDIBLE Chinese restaurant and I wish that I knew this place earlier. My family and I bought 4 main dishes, 3 bowls of rice, 2 drinks and 1 dessert for a total of below 100 dollars. Both the service and atmosphere were absolutely amazing and we will definitely be returning. Kid-friendliness: My kids loved the food here and the atmosphere here is so comforting. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is right beside the sidewalk making it extremely assessable.
Waited a total of one hour to order food and then be served. Then the order wasn t correct . The waitress didn t try to correct the mistakes! The food was mediocre. We won t return.and definitely don t recommend the place. Very poor all around. While we were waiting we met two other parties that were waiting for carry out for an hour as well.
Loved it here the food was great and the service was great. Honestly 10/10 Chinese restaurant would definitely recommend 100%
The food is very delicious and the staff was phenomenal and The Waiter Felipe is so handsome and so good at waitering
The food was really good and the service was great!
Had an amazing experience, the food and service were excellent! 10/10
I came to Victoria from Seattle, and I am glad I chose this restaurant. It offers authentic Beijing (Northern) cuisine and is very comfortable to eat. I ordered Twice-cooked Pork, Shredded Pork with Beijing Sauce Sauce, Di San Xian, Stir-fried Beef with Coriander and Beijing Mixed Sauce Noodles. I forgot to take pictures of the previous dishes, I only took pictures of mixed sauce noodles. Except for the coriander beef, which I personally thought was just average, everything else was super delicious. The portions are also large, the service is good and the price is reasonable. Will come again if I have the chance! Highly recommended
Food was fabulous, food was authentic, delicious. The ambience of the restaurant is excellent. Yah Yah must try!!!!
Foods are a little bit salty but pretty decent overall.
Food was delicious!!!! Nothing bad to say!
Best Chinese food in Victoria
We lived in China for many years and I will say, this restaurant is the real deal! We had the simple beef noodle soup. The noodles were handmade. The beef was tender, and the flavor was totally authentic. The chef and waitress were so sweet, too. I cannot recommend this place enough!
Just really darn good Chinese food. Reminds me of the food we ate in Taipei in the 70s. Definitely give it a try. 3e
Its extremely unpalatable. The roast duck is pre-made, the stir-fried vegetables will kill you, and the duck soup contains half a pound of salt. The first time I was deceived by google reviews
A NO go restaurant, Ordered half pecking duck got only served more like a quarter a very small portion for 70$! Not to mention the duck was dry and has soggy skin had a pungent smell like was cooked a day or 2 before 100% not fresh. Will recommend sampan along mckenzie ,The reviews are not reliable, left without a tip on the bill but handed the young server cash for serving a good beer.
Best Chinese food in Vancouver
Chinese food lover? If you are looking for some real Chinese food( especially Northern China food), This is the right place. Proves to be the Best Beijing cuisine cook on the island and will satisfy all your imagination on Beijing cuisine. Located at downtown, not too far from Chinatown. Soybean sauce noodles is what I would recommend for mains, best noodles among all Chinese restaurants I have tasted abroad. Real authentic Beijing style. I was born in Beijing, so does the manager. Fried potatoes, eggplant and green peppers( also taste great. The sauce is properly made. If you don t like the dishes here, which is possible, could possibly means you don t like Beijing food.
We had a fantastic meal. The portions are generous, reasonably priced and the service was great and very attentive. Highlights were the pork dumplings and fried rice. Thank you!
We were visiting the city from Kitchener, ON. Lucky us for choosing this Chinese restaurant. The service was lovely. The food was great. We had Sweet and Sour pork over rice...it was crispy and the sauce was the perfect balance of sweet to sour. The bok choy was well cooked and garlicy. We tried Sticky rice dumplings served in bamboo leaves ( 1 of each kind) for the first time. Very good and would order them again. Thanks for a great meal.
Delicious, reasonably priced. The boss is very friendly and enthusiastic.
The real one and only Beijing Chinese flavor restaurant
Legit Chinese food!! It s a must-visit restaurant in downtown Victoria.
This bistro is serving fairly authentic Chinese food. Worth the money to visit if you have craving for Chinese food.
This was my first time ordering from Beijing Bistro, and I did so based on reviews. It was very expensive for the quantity of food, and there were 4 pits (date?) in the single serving sticky rice! The potstickers were pretty good and the chicken chow mein was okay. Overall, not impressed.
Authentic Chinese food, very good service
I love the Beijing duck and luzhu huoshao
We ordered twice cooked pork, chowmein and pork dumplings. Everything tasted great. A must visit for Chinese cuisine.
Very good food!
Try the beef noodle soup, so nice. I was expecting it to be bland and boring but it was so rich and delicious with a touch of cilantro. Worth repeating
Great Chinese restaurant. Owner and waiter are very friendly.
Best Chinese restaurant on the island. Very reasonable price with huge portion. Every dishes is above average. Highly recommend Kongpao chicken, Yuxiang shredded pork and Chashu fried rice
I recently visited this lovely restaurant with my grandparents. We were amazed by the authentic food, and the atmosphere. The owner kindly spoke to us and checked on us throughout the meal. The and were rhe best we have ever had in Canada. Thank you for an awesome dining experience!
Your employer so rude im just asking a question his voice sounds rude not good
Excellent traditional chinese food
(+) Nice server and quick food. (-) Very mediocre food. Each dish used a similar gravy sauce making everything taste the same. It was to a point where if I closed my eyes I wouldnt know what I was eating. Food : 3/5
Be careful. Their business hour is incorrect.
The food was amazing we tried the potato eggplant and pepper with rice and Kung Pao chicken, an egg drop soup with tomatoes and zucchini. Quick service and the man serving us was super sweet. Goes to show you dont need to speak the same language to connect with people, food builds that bridge for us Will visit again . Thank you for your kind service.
We ordered 4 dishes for take-away. All were delicious and the portions were generous. For us, the eggplant with potatoes & green peppers was an unexpected delight. The prices were reasonable and the service was prompt. Both the servers we dealt with (a woman on the phone & a young man at the counter) were friendly and helpful. We asked for chili oil on the side and they gave us 3 times as much as we needed. :)
Wonderful Chinese restaurant in Victoria
One of the best Chinese restaurants in Victoria.
Very delicious, a must-go restaurant in Victoria
I ordered vegetable chow mein, vegetable dumplings and veg egg roll. Originally it appeared like there were no vegetables in the chow mein because they were all on the bottom, so give it a good stir. Dumplings and sauce are amazing. I ordered through Uber and very fast. My new go to place for Chinese cravings.
Recommend the casserole meatball soup and oil-soaked grouper, which will not make you want to go overboard. The dish I ordered this time was still a bit salty. I called specifically to ask for less salt. It would be nice if it could be lighter next time. The store is clean and tidy, and the boss is as enthusiastic as ever. I wish the business a prosperous future.
I came from China and I have to say the Chinese food at this restaurant is very authentic, delicious, and super fast. Owner is very nice and welcoming. Super surprised to find this gem at downtown Victoria. Just had a wonderful meal. Would definitely come back for more. Highly recommended!
Great place to eat with family! Parking is great and the food is always fresh!
A very authentic Beijing dish, recommended to be braised over fire. The food is a bit salty.
Their Beijing roast duck is totally not worth it, $58.99 for a salty oily mess. And just to get a pot of tea is $5 btw, just sad
Beijing bistro gave an authentic cuisine with amazing service and I could not find anything misleading about the place. Overall, amazing restaurant, definitely go visit!
The boss is very enthusiastic and the food tastes very authentic.
Great and delicious food. Gentleman is very friendly.
Kong pao chicken is a must try
great service and the food was delicious. the head shef has a language barrier so we wrote down the item numbers and they hopped right to it. very kind staff, definitely worth a try
The beef noodles in this shop are very good! It tastes good and there s plenty of beef~
Delicious and huge portion
So delicious!
Full marks, highly recommended, worth eating here, no mistakes.
Outstanding Peking duck, and Ive had many. May be considered pricey, but well worth it. Half a duck quite sufficient for three. We also had excellent green beans mildly spicy, and more standard sweet and sour pork. Given the quality, under $50 ahead was good value.
Amazing northeastern Chinese food here, highly recommend!
Awesome Chinese restaurant with authentic food from North East China. Love the dumplings and steamed fish!
Kung pao i will be coming back,
Delicious Chinese food made by the restaurant. Must recommend to Chinese food lovers
Amazing food and service. The special fish is so unique and tasty. I really recommend it.
Dumplings are pretty delicious!
so good delicious especially for Bingjing Duck
We had steamed rock fish and eggplant with ground pork. Both are very authentic and tasty. Service was very good and got good recommendations. We highly recommend this place!
Had the steamed rock cod. Perfectly steamed and it was tender in the middle. Service is excellent.
This place got the best roast duck on island, no doubt. Also the entrees there represent authentic flavor from Northern regions of China, I love their stir fried eggplant, beef with broccoli and dumplings. I saw some special traditional food on the menu including some Chinese deserts, will definitely go again and give a try. The service is friendly, and the chef is OK with any adjustments you want on your order, i.e. protein substitutes and spiciness! Which is great to know when you trynna dig up something more but with limited choices on the menu. Love this place! Vegetarian options: You can substitute the meat with tofu
Ordered takeout through skip, got the almond chicken with rice. Holy, Im not sure how you were able to get so much food into the little box amazed me, there was enough to feed a small army. Also those little tri cut pastries were so yummy and not too sweet which I loved. Definitely worth it.
Visiting Victoria from Orange County, California. We enjoyed this cheerful, clean, family restaurant situated off the touristy part of town but only 10 minute walk from Empress Hotel. Wonton soup and fried rice (shrimp & bbq pork) were authentic & great tasting. Would highly recommend! Vegetarian options: Yes Dietary restrictions: Vegetarian options Parking: Plenty Kid-friendliness: Spacious friendly restaurant Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access
Not bad. Had better had worse. The fried rice was nice, sweet and sour to mushy and lathered in to much sauce
The flavor exceeds my expectation. Its classic northern Chinese cuisine.
Real Beijing food
Really good food, my dad said it s the best Chinese food in town. Lol
Good service. But the food was done incorrectly. Some dish done with wrong sauce, or cut vegetable in a wrong way that completely not washed, or meat under cooked. According to the menu, some dishes are pro-level and not regular home chief can handle. But the food we got today is not up to average chinese parent level. The food quality is hard to justify these high score reviews, maybe something went wrong with their chief or management.
The wonton soup was delicious! The dumplings were also very good and reasonably priced. We would definitely go back. Dietary restrictions: They had a lot of dishes with peanuts and almonds, but they were accommodating and made an effort to keep things separate!
The Beijing flavor is very strong. It s definitely unique in Canada. Everything it s pretty good.
We ordered beef noodles, cashew shrimp, pimple soup and roasted eggplant. We ate everything, it was so delicious!
I ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Eggplant with Minced Pork, Cabbage with Vinegar Sauce, Stir-fried Pork with Garlic Moss, and Stir-fried Beef with Scallions. Every one of them was delicious! The boss is super nice I was full I took a few photos, but I didn t finish the photo because I finished eating before I had time to take photos The price is not expensive! Recommend
delicious and authentic. I accidentally showed up during their afternoon break and the owner still made me some noodles. 10/10
Authentic Chinese food with great customer service.
So yummy came for my birthday ordered a whole duck + fish. So delicious and the workers are very kind! Food
We had a great dinner here before a movie. Dan Dan noodles were the best we have had on the island since moving over. The half duck was also fantastic, served traditionally.
Ordered cold noodles. Stir-fried beef with green onions, shredded pork with green peppers, etc. The taste is great, beyond expectations, and the service is also very good
The thin bottom of the bowl of pimple soup is almost filled with soup water. Do you mind charging you more than ten yuan?
It s really delicious. It s a must-try Chinese restaurant for Chinese people coming to the island!
The chef and waiters were really nicee and friendly!! Also there food was really good i loved it
Closed 10/2 at 130. Business hours are incorrect
The boss s cooking skills are superb The taste is still the same, so delicious
Taste of real chinese food!
The roast duck was not even up to the standard of pre-made products. It was served just after being heated in the microwave. The duck skin could not be chewed. They also explained that because dine-in food requires fast food, it could only be like this. I was very disappointed.
I had the steam rock fish for my dinner. Its so stylish and tasty. The price was also reasonable. This remind me having meals in Beijing, China. I would recommend any people who wants authentic Chinese food in Victoria, BC. Myself will definitely come back when visiting Victoria.
Nice small place downtown. Love the food.
solid service. food was done well
The most disappointing Chinese food experience of my life. Not exaggerating
I wanted to eat hot soup in the evening, so I struggled for a long time between a ramen shop and this Beijing restaurant. After that, I decided to support a Chinese restaurant. The owner s accent sounds like he s from Beijing. There will be homemade dumplings and chive boxes. Braised Beef Noodles - The noodles are thick, hand-rolled and chewy. The noodles are a bit undercooked. There is a lot of beef, but it is all lean meat, so it needs more wood. However, there are a lot of aniseed ingredients, and the soup is still very rich and delicious. Leek Box - This is a baking method with a lot less oil. The dough is thicker. The vermicelli filling has more vermicelli than leeks and lacks texture. In addition, the dough is thick and the overall texture is dry. Sesame glutinous rice balls - the sesame seeds are very thin and sweet, the glutinous rice is soft and tender, this glutinous rice balls are really delicious
Won ton soup was amazing, kiddo loved it! Service was fast, quiet atmosphere, cant wait to try more on the menu.
Excellent food and service! The eggplant, potato, and pepper rice bowl was delicious. We were so impressed by the fast service and great meal!
Popped in for quick lunch and was pleasantly impressed with the food and service. Dining room has nice atmosphere, service is friendly and attentive. Would have given 5 stars but bathroom is lacking in cleanliness as is the area one walks through after leaving dining room en route to bathroom. Soles of my shoes picked up some super sticky stuff in there. I hope this review helps with that as this is a good restaurant.
Its really delicious. Today I had green pepper shredded pork rice bowl, ground three fresh rice bowl, and two leek boxes (don t doubt my appetite, it s for two people. I can t eat it alone and I m not a big eater.) It was delicious. However, the price of rice bowl is about the same as that of a la carte. Next time I will probably order a la carte and pour it on the rice myself. The portion will be much larger and I believe it will be just as delicious. Recommended three delicacies, very authentic, tested by people from Northeast China
Vermicelli Lemongrass chicken was well done, vermicelli was dry probably rehearsed would ve like it a bit more flavorful but overall a great meal
Ordered 3 dishes, received the wrong order for one of the dishes, and another dish (roasted duck) was missing the soup. Food was not bad but the misplaced order has dragged the rating down.
It was really delicious. I ate it twice in a row when I went to Victoria. The uncle boss is a very down-to-earth and enthusiastic Beijinger. I highly recommend everyone to try the dishes cooked by the uncle. Fried noodles with soybean paste, cold noodles with shredded chicken, wontons, shredded fish-flavored pork, and stir-fried pork with potherb mustard are all delicious! Very very delicious! If you like or are interested in Chinese food, this restaurant will be one of your best options!
It s so delicious. The boss is very nice. Highly recommended.
Originally this place only had takeout, but the boss was so nice that he let us take it in. It was worth the wait, it was so delicious! A little spicy, just right! It tastes really delicious!
It is the best Chinese food I had so far
Super authentic northern cuisine, served quickly, tastes good, has many dishes, and the service is enthusiastic. I finished the dishes before I even took a photo. Although the boss doesnt recommend dine-in now, he still let us in.
Very authentic and delicious northern cuisine! Shredded Pork with Beijing Sauce, Di San Xian, and Braised Beef with Scallions are absolutely delicious, but it s a pity that I can t order them all.
One of the best Chinese restaurants in Victoria with super delicious food. The owner is extremely nice !!!
great restaurant! We visited Victoria from Seattle and find this downtown Chinese restaurant. We ordered Beijing Duck, Beef Noodles and other dishes. All are great! The owner is kind and welcoming. We feel very lucky that we entered this restaurant today!
The taste is very authentic and the boss is very friendly. The wonton stew is especially delicious. The fried noodles and chicken corn soup are also highly recommended.
Great food, great service. Owner is nice and friendly, very convenient location, I will absolutely visit this restaurant again.
Nice Chinese food! Real Northern Chinese dishes! Authentic northern taste!
genuine beijing style chinese food.
The boss is super nice, the Kung Pao Chicken is super delicious, and the fried liver is also very authentic
This is THE place to get AUTHENTIC Beijing cuisine. If you are not familiar with Beijing cuisine, try the Soft Fried Pork Tenderloin. It has a chicken-nugget-like feel, should be a great gateway dish. As a native Beijinger, Im thrilled to have found this place during my visit. Having lived in California for 16 years, Ive searched high-and-low for traditional Beijing food; but none in California comes close to Beijing Bistro. It takes courage and integrity to keep the flavors authentic, because appreciating regional cuisine is an acquired taste, and being authentic means taking a hit on reviews and revenues. So, Victoria, Beijing Bistro deserves your support. Pls dont treat it as just another Chinese restaurant.
When I traveled to Victoria, I ate the food I wanted to eat the most, including scrambled eggs with tomatoes, kung pao chicken, and stir-fried green beans. The food tasted great and the portions were generous and large. I am planning to try other dishes again. The boss is from Beijing and is enthusiastic and kind. People who do things with conscience deserve blessings: I sincerely wish this store a prosperous business! Wish you happiness and good luck, thank you!
My friend came all the way from Victoria to cook it for me! So touching! First time eating it in three years! As a Beijinger, I must give you a big thumbs up! Authentic! Absolutely authentic! I recommend everyone to try it! When I get the chance to go to the island after my busy work, I will definitely try it myself!
Authentic, classy, and better! The authentic taste of old Beijing, three days of travel and three days of eating, I will go there again next time I come! Recommended: roast duck, braised duck, and various dumplings!
$18.98 for a kung pao chicken? That is absolutely outrageous. Love the food prices outrageous!
Great place! The food was super fresh and tasty, especially the steamed rock fish. The chef and the staff were really warm and friendly. Will definitely go there again!
It s so delicious. I came here to eat it during the Mid-Autumn Festival. My favorite is pickled cabbage and white meat. The chef s cooking is so authentic... I love the potherb red the most! I often order takeout and it s even better when I dine in! Uvic students can come and compete
We are first time visit from Vancouver. Love their dumplings, our favourite!! Will come back next time!
Highly recommended! A must go when visiting Victoria. The taste is very authentic, and the boss is super nice. Originally there was no dine-in service at noon, but seeing that we were bringing our children, we made an exception and allowed us to dine in the store. The dishes we ordered tasted very authentic, and we also had braised pork that we hadn t eaten in two years. Would go again.
Pricey but the food was phenomenal, especially the soft fried pork
Its the place I go every time when I am visiting Victoria. Really good food, and especially the Peking duck.
Pro - large portions, 1 Beijing duck was enough for 8 people with extra dishes. Con - food quality not great (duck too dry), not refined (sauces too thick). Limited beer selection only Food
The portions are pretty good. I still want to come back for more after I finish eating.
The food is poggers Best place in vic
Ordered from door dash and was pleasantly surprised. The wontons actually have meat in them and the chow Meir is amazing.
Authentic amazing Chinese food, I recommend the twice cooked pork belly! The owners are very nice people.
Really disappointing experience of their beef noodle soup. The ratio was completely off, a few pieces of beef, almost zero soup with the rest just being a whole load of mushy noodles. Not even the freebie side dish of a cold cucumber salad could save the meal as it smelled and tasted slightly off.
I really wanted to like it, but it was too salty and I got a huge headache the next day. I never got this problem with the Purple Garden so I guess Ill go back to ordering from them.
Super delicious! Awesome!! Very traditional Chinese food
Outrageously good real and honest food. The mapo tofu was the best Ive ever had in my life and I am a lover of the many subtle variations on the classic. Pork and cabbage dish was so rich and clean. Squids with crispy fried rice was not at all what I was expecting and totally blew my mind. Best Chinese food Ive had in Victoria so far, highly recommend.
Thats authentic, thats called beauty. Let s chat live at nine o clock
Great services and food is authentic! Would definitely go back again.
Food is extremely tasty and owner is extremely kind to us. Thanks for the food!
Very delicious, their Beijing duck is very good and the dishes are very traditional, taste awesome! Owner is very friendly and honest.
SUPER authentic northern Chinese food! Love the taste and the portion of the food! Great services! Nice owner! He was a chef when he was back in China. If you are looking for delicious traditional and authentic chinese food, this restaurant will be a great choice. Every time we visit Victoria, we have to come to this restaurant.
This dish is really delicious, authentic Chinese food!
The most authentic Chinese food on the island
nice
The service attitude is enthusiastic, very consistent with the taste, very delicious, nice!
Perfect space for real Chinese food! Strongly recommend for guys who would like to taste real Chinese food!
The roast duck is delicious and the boss is super nice
Our meal quality was a mixed bag. Sweet and sour pork was terrible (pork was very dried out). Chicken fried rice was excellent. Roasted potato with beef was terrible because the sauce tasted burnt. Minced meat with Eggplant was pretty good. I won t go back.
Very traditional! Very Very delicious!
Excellent authentic Chinese dishes. It did remind me of Beijing food. Love it.
Excellent menu with authentic Chinese choices. The Poached Beef in Chili oil is cooked perfectly, and the Cumin Beef is also quite wonderful. Dishes were prepared quickly, and takeout was quick and easy, with excellent Covid-19 protocols in place.
not good
The best stir-fry on the island! ! Recommend the fish-flavored shredded pork and Kung Pao chicken!
Tastes authentic! We particularly recommend the fish-flavored shredded pork, Kung Pao chicken, and dandan noodles. After taking the first bite, you will know how powerful this taste is and can make people travel back to Beijing.
One of the few delicious Chinese food on the island. Highly recommend shredded chicken cold noodles
The best northern cuisine in the area, bar none. Ive eaten here many times, and every time I go back with great joy.
Some authentic Beijing traditional dishes are served in this charming small Chinese restaurant. The owner told me theyd prefer to keep the original flavors over adjust them for locals. Id recommend it to local folks who havent been to Beijing, China to get an idea of what Beijing flavors taste like by visiting this place on Yates street in downtown Victoria.
After having difficulty communicating with the restaurant on the phone I left a negative review. However, someone reached out and explained and I really appreciated that attention to the review! Will definitely try and order again in the future. Thanks for the prompt message to clear things up. I also work in the industry and that sort of response demonstrates great management. Thank you again and I apologize for being so harsh with my initial review.
Amazing experience here - some top-notch authentic Northern Chinese food. Incredible attention to detail to bring out the unique flavours of every traditional dish. 10/10 for us, visiting from Vancouver which has a large selection of Chinese food. Since we were aware of some of the reviews here about the microwave, we paid attention to the kitchen, and saw that our food was prepared in real time by the chef. They are also very allergy-aware and friendly. We ordered the fried beans, ma-po tofu, and twice-cooked pork and couldnt be more satisfied. Highly recommended!
We came in here giving this place a chance. Never again. I ordered soup that had no flavour. All I tasted was chlorine, probably from their utensils, since the spoon was slightly sticky. Their crepe was over seasoned and was way too salty. This is an honest and fair review. I would not come back. I hope theyre able to take this constructive criticism and be better.
Went for a quick Business Lunch, seems like the kitchen was backed up as everything took a long time to come out. Food was OK. Might try again another time.
The duck wasnt crispy, but that was all.
The store is clean and hygienic. The roast duck and Kung Pao chicken are especially delicious
Mapo Tofu and Kung Pao Chicken are both home-cooked dishes but extremely delicious. They feel like home when served with rice.
can have some special dishes other than normal Chinese food. Highly recommend their duck.
Excellent food. Nice serving staff. Will come again. Green onion pancake was a huge hit. Edit: I have since been quite a few times. Service and quality of food has been consistently excellent. All of the dishes I ve ordered have been tasty.
I called the restaurant 10 minutes before showing up with a party of 8 and when we arrived everything was set up ready for us. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The food arrived within minutes and it was hot and really tasty. Certainly recommend this restaurant. It was a great experience from start to finish.
The food quality is inconsistent, some are good and some are bad. I have eaten overnight roast duck twice and the duck meat was even hard. Recommended dishes: Fish-flavored shredded pork, Kung Pao chicken Dishes not recommended: spicy chicken, roast duck
I have been to this restaurant for lunch several times. The lovely staff/ owners make me feel so welcome. They are proud and it shows in the care that is taken in the food. The Peanut Chicken on the lunch menu is the best I have ever had. If you like very flavourful and spicy fair, you must try this. A Victoria Gem!!!
We ordered Di Sanxian and Pickled Cabbage with White Pork, they turned out to be really good. Staffers are very friendly. Strongly recommended.
Authentic food. Lovely people.
The food was served cold although I called two days in advance for a whole duck. My friends food wasnt unidentifiable and he got sick later.
Food is good but slightly expensive
