I have never had a bad meal from Lums! My husband and I get the combos for 1 and it is more than enough! I can t even usually finish it off for lunch the next day. The staff is always so friendly and so accommodating no matter what time of day!

I love this place. The food is good and when I ask for a tweak they always try to do it. Fast good price and T A S T Y Num Nums 10 stars if only Google had more stars I think its only take away now. Vegetarian options: Lots of options and always ask. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes

Favourite chinese food I ve had since moving here

Good food, generous portions and consistent. However, usually we order 3 meals and they always give only ONE soy sauce packet and usually on the phone they are dismissive and rude and hang up the phone while youre still talking. Food

The online ordering system will not complete the order unless you add in a tip. As Im the one driving to pick it up, I dont feel I should be forced to tip. Ordered my dinner for 4 elsewhere.

Arrived in town hungry . Looked up chinese food delivered and settled on Lums due to it high rating on trip advisor. Now to be fair we werent looking to invest our time in finding authentic Richmond style Asian food. We were more than willing to settle for some old school asian buffet style food to eat in the hotel . Rather than order the dinner for 3 we chose 4 dishes in the hope it would be better . Heres how it went. Dry garlic pork. Deep fried in cornstarch . So hard they bounced off the table. Literally. When my wife bit into the first one the crack was so loud I asked her what that was ? They were like milk bones and were inedible. Check the reviews on this . House special fried rice. A mix of everything . OK but not worth a return to the buffet table . And not fried dry rice . Or at least not properly. Shrimp were tiny . Not velveted like good Asian food but tasted like cat food. House special chow mein. Pre overcooked noodles with no glace and a ton of soy sauce. The worst Ive ever had . Again tiny shrimp , tiny bits of bbq pork and chicken , a large , like huge piece of over boiled, bitter bok choy and tasteless noodles . Gross. Last dish was beef and broccoli. Maybe the best dish of the four but still gross. Mushy broccoli. How the hell could someone put that broccoli in this dish !? It was so soft ! The beef was OK which made me think they stir fried the beef then threw over cooked broccoli on it at the last minute . So to add insult to injury this meal including tax, tip , delivery ect was $80.00 Two packs of soy sauce for 4 dishes. No cutlery, chop sticks , napkins ect. Order from here and your going to get the least they can give you. Lums, You sold your pride over the cash till. You earned this review.

Great food, great prices and wonderful service.

I get a combo for 1 whenever Im tired or lazy. Food is good, portions decent and relatively well priced for what you get.I have never fi ished in one go at any rate.

Ordered through Skip and although the price and portion size were great, the food was abysmal. The almond chicken had the consistency of grainy pudding, the sweet and sour pork was all hard gristle nuggets and the chow mein was literally tasteless. I hope this was a one-off bad experience, because the little I could eat of it made me sick for two days afterward. Id hate for anyone else to be so inflicted.

My first time eating take out from here, and I was not disappointed. They serve pretty big portions of the meals, for a good price. We ended up with leftovers to eat the next day! The food tastes very authentic and delicious too, as someone who eats and makes Chinese food regularly with my husband. The staff there are multilingual but are still pleasant to talk to and show exceptional customer service when it comes to explaining and describing the menu items. The only one downside is that its dining area closed down, and hasnt been re-opened since prior to COVID lockdown. Regardless, I would come here again, whenever we are too busy or tired to cook dinner. We ordered the B &C combo meals. The almond chicken had way too much breading on it. You could hardly taste the chicken. The chicken was also very tough. Not tender at all. It also did not come with a gravy as we are used to on almond breaded chicken. The sweet and sour pork had a very hard crunchy outside and the meat was also tough. The chow mein and fried rice were pretty tasteless. There was also way too much breading on the fried shrimp. We went there because a travel advisory had given it four stars. I wouldnt give it anything at all but, one is probably more than what they deserve. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Bought dinner for four sweet and sour pork was so tough you couldnt chew it, prawns were overcooked, and broccoli was raw . All in all a waste of money.

This place is great, I ordered typical fair, Pork fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein, some Ginger fried beef and sweet and sour pork. We had a shell fish allergy in our party and the chef was eager to accommodate and removed the oyster sauce. The people were super kind and grateful everyone behind the counter was working like crazy, Awesome food, worth the price.

Just had for the first time recently. Just moved here, so I was looking for a new Chinese place. Lums was closest, so I figured Id try it. The food was terrific, an astonishing amount for the $15 I paid. I did not get the order I asked for, but I wasnt disappointed. It could have been a miscommunication, and I will be going back to possibly update my review to a better rating.

I really want to like this place. I have given it several chances, because of this, however every time I do I am beyond disappointed. I just dont get all the hype and the good reviews this place receives. Last night when I ordered from there again, I can honestly say it was some of the worst Chinese food I have ever tasted. I ended up throwing most of it is the bin. The almond breaded chicken was tough and full of connective tissue, and the batter was soggy and under cooked in some areas. The dry garlic ribs were a kin to eating rocks. The chowmein was the only thing that was some what edible and that was bland at best. I dunno maybe it is me, maybe I just keep getting bad batches, everyone seems to love it, but last night was the last straw, I wont be ordering from there again. L

This is a western Chinese food gem. After reading the reviews I had to try this place out for myself. The noodles are savoury, mount watering soy sauced up and best of all cut into small sizes so you can pick up and eat comfortably. The sweet and sour pork has the perfect ratio of umami and sweetness. The coating was well done so it stands up to sitting in the sauce on the way home and the almond chicken actually tasted like almonds. This is not traditional preparation, this is western Canadian style done very well. The owners are fast, very friendly and gave me home made chili oil when I asked for hot sauce. The chili oil is hand down some of the smoothest and flavourful additions to the almond chicken IMO. Really can t praise this place enough. These are the kind of places that have Chinese Canadians a deserving special place in Western Canada. Go during a rush to get fresh food and eat immediately for best results. Bravo.

Gave Lums a second chance after years. The food was definitely sub par. I dont know if it was left over from xmas service but bland and dry clump of rice.. Overcooked soogy to mush noodles. Disturbing and squishy ginger fried beef. Never again. 80% going in the trash.

We have been ordering from here for over 5 years. It is consistently good and the wait times for pick up are also spot on, which is nice as they are always busy. Recommend the curry beef and crispy ginger beef. Fantastic food and very fair prices.

My wife and I read over some reviews before going to Lums. The reviews were not wrong... amazing food quality, tasty, hot, fairly quick (had to wait a bit as they had many orders), and plenty of food! We ordered 2 dinner for ones, and substituted a pork to chicken, which was yummy! We couldnt finish off the portion size! We got to enjoy it again for lunch the next day. I highly suggest checking out Lums! I gave it 5 stars because they deserved it! Well definitely eat there again.

Quantity 4 stars, Service 4 stars, Quality 2 stars, Flavour ?!?! 0 star... Mixing premade store-bought sauces in a random way that clash... Authenticity 0, there is nothing authentic, or chinese about this. If youre looking for a cheap priced meal, it is ok, but a cheap price comes with cheap quality ingredients, paired with poor flavour profiles.

I ordered the dinner for 4 plus almond chicken and it was terrible. Everything tasted like it was cooked yesterday. The Sweet and Sour Pork was as hard as a rock and the prawns were rubber dripping with grease...inedible really. The Chow Mein was a large sticky clump. Sad because i used to order from here a lot. That was a great waste of $65...never again.

The biggest portion size I ve seen for Chinese food. First time ordering and will be a forever customer there s at least 15-20 dumplings in the wonton soup. The quality is fantastic.

Yesterday, Weve got: - Lums special Chow Mein: TOOO SALTY and 90% noodle nothing special at all. -Curried Chicken: It should call curried VEGETABLE. You barely could find a very small piece of chicken.I was watching their cooking, too fast because it was cooked before. It was my first and last time experience. NOT RECOMMENDED

all around the worst chineese food experience ive had in Victoria, we ordered the chow mein pinapple giner beef, and sweet n sourpork, the chow mein was undercooked, dry. and flavourless and came glued together in one big mass, the pineapple ginger beef was soaked in a watery sweet n sour sauce with no ginger flavor at all, and the sweet n sour pork was chewy and dry even though it came swimming in sauce. do not eat here, move along to somewhere better

Lum s is a gem in Esquimalt for great Chinese food. We often get takeout and it s always ready on time or very close to. If we have to wait a moment, it means it s even fresher! We have dined in, in the past for birthdays and casual after work dinners. The restaurant is clean and bright. The service is great and the food is always delicious. We absolutely love their house special egg foo yong.

They are open when some of resto is closed on holiday, so convenient for take out, for those craving for Chinese food.

Went for the first time as soon as I moved into the area a few months ago and now I cant count how many times weve ordered takeout. Weve shared with many friends who now also enjoy Lums Chinese food as much as we do. Simply delicious

Order for delivery placed just after 6pm. Order arrival should have been 7:06pm. Not fast, but not too bad...but now its 7:26pm and no sign of dinner. Dinner here at 7:32. Deep fried wonton: very hard, meat fallen out of several wonton, incredibly greasy Almond chicken: almond? Dry garlic pork: garlic? Chicken chow mein: mushy, very little chicken Fried prawns: ok The kids (teenage boys) were hungry enough to eat a lot fast. The delivery person was very nice.

Awful service. Ordered my food online at 5:15 for a 7pm delivery and received the email confirmation. Hadnt received the order or any kind of communication by 7:20, so called to find out what the problem was and was informed they were busy and our order was leaving now and would be the first delivery on the route. We live 10 minutes away and did not receive our order until 7:50. No offer of any kind of compensation for this or future orders despite the 50 minute delay. Many other Chinese restaurants have equally good food with much better service so we will not be eating from Lums again.

I love going to Lums for their great portion sizes, affordable prices, wonderful service, and tasty food. Its a favourite for sure!

I ordered Chicken Chowmein and Sweet and Sour Pork. Both were ready very quickly as they were having a slow night and were normal sized portions. The chow mein only had about 3 small pieces of chicken and was quite heavily doused in soy sauce but the noodles were good quality and well cooked. The Sweet and Sour Pork was all pork, no vegetables, which was a surprise but not unwelcomed and was quite tasty. My only issue was later that evening I suffered a pretty devastating bowel movement and felt quite painfully sick. This was the only food or drink (other than filtered water) I had consumed for many hours and would have been the only cause of my upset stomach. It was a shame as this could have been my go to Chinese food place in Victoria but Im not a fan of restaurants that give me food poisoning.

We live in Vancouver where we have access to literally hundreds of Chinese food restaurants and every time we come to Victoria we come to Lums because it is the best Chinese food we have ever had! The won ton soup is amazing as is all the rest of their food. The food is always hot and delicious. The service is fast and friendly and they treat you like family. I would highly recommend this restaurant! Its worth the trip!

We just had the worst Chinese food weve ever ordered. Almond chicken that had unidentifiable hard pieces that were impossible to cut or break. The steamed rice was a congealed brick. The sweet and sour pork was hard and crunchy throughout. Absolutely terrible. A terrible waste of money. Were a little worried that we ate some of it to be honest.

We ordered this evening at 8:13 pm , it is now nearly10pm and they stop delivering at at 10pm. We called 27 times to check after 1.5 hrs and was continuously busy!!! I am so hangry and have no words for this service!!! Never ever again...now its going to be a bologna sammitch :( They should let you know its a two plus wait...I would of ordered elsewhere. PS Food never ever arrived!!

Please do not order from this restaurant, we ordered food from this restaurant after waiting for an hour when we called to check on our order they said another half an hour, then they said we are not delivering. Very unprofessional and zero on customer service. Super rude and also like to hang up. If I had an option to rate them zero, I would.

Been my go to Chinese food place on the island for a long time. I like some other places as well around town but theres just something about Lums that draws me there once in a while to fulfill that craving for there good quality reasonably priced meals.

Had family over, ordered food and it took over 2 hours to arrive! Just as my guests were leaving hungry.

Fast, friendly service. Food was really good. I had the lemon chicken, but the entrees dont come with rice. My husband had a dinner for one special that came with shrimp, and the shrimp were huge! Food was fresh. You can dine-in or take-out. They are open later which was great because we arrived in Victoria later than expected.

First and last time ordering it was 45 minutes late and completly cold and soggy.

Except for the very dry chicken fried rice, my meal was tasty. They dont use MSG..bonus.

Tried to get some sweet and sour pork at 10pm on a Thursday. Cops fire and ambulance showed up to haul a large drunk dude who couldnt stand up, much less pay his bill. The lady at the counter took our order anyway and was just all around pretty cool. Havent gotten the food yet but the service is great, no matter what is going on.

Great food and a great price. Dont let the location put you off. Done in or take out, the food is always good and ready quickly. Highly recommended.

Ive been eating at Lums fairly regularly for years. I moved out of Esquimalt and I still make the effort to go there. The delivery guy recognizes me and I honestly love that. It makes me feel more welcome. Their food is western Chinese, but delicious.

Called the restaurant and they said Thats just how delivery is ok, guess theyve lost more customers. Threw majority of it in the trash and lost $40. Also, the tip is included but they didnt mention that and instead pocketed extra money without saying anything. Harsh practice for mediocre food.

We were told 1 hour for our food to be delivered. 1.25 hours later I called to check on the status of our delivery. They hadnt started making it yet!! Communicating the extra wait time would have allowed us to decide whether or not we wait. With three hungry kids we had to cancel our order and make other last minute plans. Very disappointed.

We ordered Spring Rolls which were greasy, the hot and sour soup was nasty and didnt taste like its supposed to. The Singaporean fried noodles and the beef fried noodles were the better tasting of our whole meal.

Passable Chinese fare at best. Been here 3 times now and ALL 3 times the almond chicken has been undercooked (raw dough). Three strikes your out, will not be returning.
