For arrived cold, rice burnt, and I called to ask for a solution a nothing was offered. Absolutely not worth the price.

They changed their containers to a smaller one and they dont fill it, only half way. Chownein is very small portion for the price. Service is not good. They will get things for you but grudgingly seems like. I still tip them but they are not friendly at all.

Best Chinese in Langford. I live in Mill Bay and we order from here still cuz it s the best!! Get the salt and pepper squid, beef and broccoli, ginger beef is bomb. Best chowmein is the Szechwan!! So so good. Best war wonton I ve ever had! Highly recommend this place.

I took my son , grandson and grandaughter there on Sunday . Everything we ordered was fantastic. They served our food very fast and it was piping hot . I will definitely go there again .

Good food. Theres not a lot of Chinese food places in the west shore, this is my usual place. Definitely your best bet in Langford. I miss buffet all you can eat Chinese food. I understand why they arent a thing anymore, maybe keeping the food behind a sneeze shield or have a server that worked the buffet. It would be great if thay could figure that out. I recently ordered delivery from Maygold Village in Lanford, B.C., and was disappointed with my meal. The dishes, particularly those containing onions, had a distinct chemical taste that reminded me of floor cleaner. This unusual and unpleasant flavor significantly marred my dining experience at home. Due to this, I feel compelled to leave a one-star rating. I hope the restaurant addresses this issue to ensure better quality for future orders.

PART 1. I wanted a dinner for two. It only seems to include one of three items. + 2 spring rolls . Those choice are the same price as the ime items on the menu and I was not aloud to trade for the items iliked. Ididnoy like the one choice that was the only dinner for 2 available. I didnt understand why I couldnt swap out for itherchouceson the menu seeing as how there was no deal. Everything was the same prices. It was irritating and I had to order individually which I paid the same price but for individual dishes instead of for 2. Very disappointed. Also the almond chicken was extremely disappointing. Extra extra greasy and also way over cooked so it was hard with no soft meat in the middle. I would not recommend recommend you eay here. PART 2. So i decided to eat here tonight which was the first time since my review (part +1) i ordered take out, deciding id give it another shot. BIG MISTAKE. I should have hung up the moment i was told to hurry up they were busy, and the lady constantly saying what?? I didnt year you frustrated i raised my voice so she coud hear me. F.F. Food arrives....COLD, containers not full, and while the d.driver was funny and kind it didnt make up for what we found next!!! A few bites unto each if the 3 dishes we both had to spit out what we were eating. It tasted wrong. It tasted like a floor or bathroom cleaner. My throat is now irritated and scratchy. My friend says he is tasting skmething bad when he is coughing he ate a bit more then i did. Obviously we didnt continue eating. We are still deciding whatbwe shlukd do about this. Chinese food is Chinese food but there is bleh and there is good. This was pretty good tonight. The crispy fried ginger beef was really good. Singapore noodles quite good. Nice place.

We went last night hoping the buffet would be back but instead ordered individual dishes. Food was very good and servers friendly. This is definitely quality Chinese food at a reasonable price and I would recommend. But I do hope they bring back the buffet! It was always excellent.

Honestly have tried plenty of Chinese food restaurants around victoria and this one is the best. The food is always flavorful and tastes the sane everytime. Their take out is also delicious. I definitely recommend this place.

Had a war wonton and mom had cashew chicken lunch special. War wonton was very large and delicious. Moms lunch special was very good and took a bunch home. Will be back soon. Service was great also.

Food was good but the service was not great. My family had their dinners a good 5 minutes before mine was brought out. That is a huge pet peeve of mine. It was not busy, we were the only customers in the place.

I usually order the combo for two here, but I find its all pork, which I find to be too much. Last time I ordered, I asked to switch the sweet & sour pork to chicken, which they charged me an extra $2 for, and I didnt even get it! I got the pork instead. If I ever order from here again, it will be a very, very ling time, and IF i do, Ill be sure to get what I ask for, especially if I get charged extra! There are other places that are just as good nearby with the same price point. The egg rolls are also terrible, like none Ive ever had before.

Take out is consistently good. Food is hot and has good flavor. Delivery times are as quoted when you place your order. When buffet was open, we did not enjoy it. Take out is the way to go!

Ill have to be clear, 6/5 on food but 0/5 on the long waiting time and poor management. We waited for almost 45 minutes until we got our first dish, and there were people, dine in and to go, waited their for 1.5 hours. The foods were amazing, they definitely got great chef, but they need to either get a larger kitchen or limit the amount of takeout they take. Guess what, I suggest that you always call for takeout and make sure you give yourself at least 1 hour of buffer zone.

The special fried rice is pretty good.

Not a buffet

This resto is earning the rare 1 star. While I did pay for what was presented on the plate, I shouldnt have. I have had this place on my list of places to visit for the past 4 years since moving to the island. Today was the day and I was under the impression from their website and some of the photos in the reviews that this would be a buffet experience. IT IS NOT. The buffet is still right there when you walked in, but now it doubles as a plate storage unit. Yellow flag one. Once seated by myself at a 4 top, I was given a menu. They have some pre-arranged lunch options for $15. Reasonable and good generic selections. No different than you would expect from a comparable food court set of selections. Food came out pretty quick. When the plate was placed on the table next to me, not in front of me. Weird. I started with a portion of the chow mein. Noodles were completely bland. No flavour. As I started working towards a few more bites, I noted that the sprout heads had turned completely gray and the tips of their stems too were turning gray. They looked spoiled to me! Next, I tried the ginger beef. What a weird experience. First, these were flat rectangular slices of beef, not the traditional stir fry long shape. The top few bits had no sauce, and the bottom ones were bathing in sauce. I tried the first one. Bang! Massive vinegar taste. I stirred them up and tried 4 or 5 more pieces. But the vinegar was overpowering. Next I moved on to the deep fried spring roll. I could tell by the neat, uniform binding of the rolls they were made outside and brought in. Hope. I broke it in half. Good snap. But. The carrot that dangled out from one piece seemed odd. I pulled it out with my finger. But it was mush. The whole thing was mush inside. I regretfully took a small bite of the one piece. Mush. And, I could also taste that distinctive been in a dirty freezer too long taste. Done with that. I broke one of the shrimps in half. It looked alright, so I tried a bite of the shrimp by itself. Success. Something that wasnt gross. I tried a second, this time dipping it in the sweet and sour sauce in the small dish. Not too bad. I was attentive to look for any dirty oil taste in the fry batter, but it tasted surprisingly clean. I finished the shrimp. I poked at a few other things and stirred a few things over just in case. Bad move. I ended up finding several bits of that black curled up chunks. Because why use a clean grill when a dirty one is just as good. Ugh. What a depressing thing. I tapped out and went to the till to pay. I asked the girl who took my payment if she was an owner. She said no, so I didnt want to berate her over things not in her control. I asked if I could talk to an owner or manager. She got immediately defensive and asked why. I told her the food was not good at all. She wanted to know more, so I said that the spring roll was clearly frozen in the freezer for way too long. She started making excuses about how they dont store anything for more than a couple days because they get deliveries every two or three days. I told her that is a lie. At that point, I left. A couple were looking over a menu when I was leaving. I told them to go anywhere else. And now, I am telling you.

Cool place

The food was delicious! Not greasy nor too heavy. We did order about 6 different dishes and thought it was strange that they brought out one dish at a time, each about 5 minutes apart. Otherwise the service was good and the portions were large for what I believe to be a fair price. We will go back again.

Phoned and asked if they had the buffet still we were told yes but when we arrived the staff was very rude they changed their story and said they don t have a buffet. The place was dirty. Staff was rude and dismissive.

I have been going there for years. When they did have the buffet it was awesome, since vivid no buffet . The food is still great though it is my go to place for Chinese in Langford. Try the steak sauce on the rice....mmm.

The food is very good, and I know that all small business have been under pressure the last two years, so I dont want to be too critical as I own a couple small businesses also. Having said that, we have ordered twice and both orders got screwed up. I highly recommend checking your order before you leave the restaurant the food is very good however.

Been eating here since you opened, sadly tonight you let us down. Chow mein was mush and tasteless, cashew chicken was cold. Have had better elsewhere, for less. So, I guess we take a break for awhile my friends.

Management seems to have taken a massive dive. Buffet should of been open months ago and definately open now that the violation of human rights mandates are gone. Really no logical excuse for why its not open, aside from improper management.

We keep on passing this restaurant many times during the many trips to sites and lunches etc. So we had to try it. The sign on the building said buffet restaurant, but it wasnt. Maybe its because of the pandemic they cut this out. So, we asked about the buffet with we dont do it. Same with the next and next and so on people coming in. We almost walked out but lucky we decided to stay. We picked a number of items that looked good to us, which included hot and sour soup. We didnt realize that they served all items at once. We were disappointed at this. When we said something about this, they said that people like being served all at once. We suggestion is order your soup. Then order what you want next. This way you can eat the way you want. Or all at once, if thats the way you like it. We ended up taking the soup home with us for a later time. Plus some of the leftovers. Maybe tomorrows lunch? Enjoy this wonderful tasting hot fresh food, too!

Ordered off of DoorDash, but wish I didn t. Food was not fresh, had no flavour because it wasn t seasoned at all, it even lacked salt. The tofu tasted like recycled cardboard (no, tofu doesn t always taste like cardboard). All of the dishes were bad, so regret wasting my money.

Ordered egg rolls, honey garlic pork, and sweet and sour chicken. The sweet and sour chicken was the only edible part of our meal. The honey garlic pork tasted either very over cooked or cooked over a week ago - extremely stale. The worst part of my experience was the egg rolls. DO NOT ORDER THEM. I was appalled when I took a bite and found what appeared to be pineapple and mayo - no other filling. This is not an egg roll and there is no description explaining this monstrosity on their menu. I ve been to some bad Chinese food restaurants before, but this is by far the worst experience I ve ever had at any Chinese food restaurant.

Honestly the most delicious Chinese food Ive had since moving to Canada, of course Westernized but that didnt stop me from enjoying the lunch specials. The server was attentive and kind. Im hopeful this place will stick around for years to come. We just ordered take out because I loved it so much the other day. I think the downside is that prices are a bit higher. I feel they should do a deal if people order more. Other than that, hardly any complaints. My new go to Chinese food place! (:

I have been going to May Gold for years but haven t since the pandemic and was very disappointed in the flavour, freshness, quality and warmth of our food last week. I would not order again.

Ordered online so there was no confusion. Still got the wrong order. Bland food cold when It got here. Resent the item missed and it was still wrong! Offered me credit but I won t be back here again. Not the first time I have had issues here unfortunately but it will be the last. Thanks no thanks. Terrible service terrible food.. boiled beef over cooked and ramen with no flavour actually was gross to eat lol. Many better options in Victoria than this place save the money

Not impressed with this place at all. Ordered a dinner for 4 since our usual spot was closed this evening. The chow mein was half decent, not good enough to save the meal though. The so called egg rolls were not even close to what an egg roll should be(some kind of white sweet sauce inside and no veggies). The fried rice was very plain and dry. Sweet and sour pork tasted okay but it seemed old and off as well. Cashew chicken and veggies was okay. Finally the ginger beef, the reason we love getting Chinese takeout (usually) was horrible. First off the smell was not something youd normally start eating, then the taste was so far off it was actually shocking. It tasted stale, burnt, old and just wrong. It is a shame it was takeout. If we were in for a sit down meal I would have simply walked out and left it after tasting how bad the ginger beef was. Time for a little quality control and caring about what your serving in this place. I remember having it years ago and it being fairly good back then.

We recently moved to Langford and have tried May Gold Village a couple times. Both times were very tasty! We have only gotten take out but its been made quickly and on time. Their servings are VERY generous. My partner and I most recently got the dinner for 2 and we got 5 meals out of it (we are decent eaters).

Had an excellent meal last night- best chinese food in a long time. Have been there several times for takeout but last nights was excellent. I just ordered chicken chow mein and almond chicken.The chow mein was different then I have had before from there - a longer noodle but it was excellent!! The almond chicken was perfectly crisp and not dry whatsoever.

Prompt timing that was great! BUT the ginger beef was burnt/not spicy and the chow mein tasted like the bag ones you can get at any grocery store the fresh veg was the shining start of that dish only things that had flavor besides the wonton dumplings. The Fried rice would be the only thing I would come back for! Sorry will not be ordering from here again

It was nice when the buffet was open and it had atmosphere. Since COVID, it seems to have been hit really hard and is just doing takeout with the dining room shut off from public access.

We ordered the sweet and sour pork, wonton soup, house special chow mein, and sweet and sour chicken balls. The wonton soup is very good, no complaints. The chow mein we felt was very small for what you pay, however it tasted amazing. The chicken balls were a little hard so they were ok. And the sweet and sour pork was nothing super special, tasted like sweet and sour pork. Overall decent food, clearly busy, would eat here again but wouldnt eat here often

Ive have had Chinese food from several places on the south Island and this is by far the worst. All of the vegetables were undercooked and somehow all of them were bitter, the sauce on the noodles was a thick slime, the meat was way overcooked, everything was cold when delivered when the restaurant is only a few minutes drive from my house, we accidentally ordered shrimp egg rolls (our fault) but they just had pineapple in them and something white that didnt look like egg.

Not good. This place used to have good Chinese Food, not sure what has happened though. Tonight we spent $100 and got tasteless, greasy food. The meat was dry and the prawn batter must have been made incorrectly because all of the oil had dripped out of them, through the bag, in to our car, on our clothes and hands. For the amount they are charging the quality should be a lot better.
