Frankie's Modern Diner in Victoria

We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Frankies. The waffles and chicken were excellent. The fried chicken was crispy and juicy, cooked perfectly. The blaze burger was phenomenal with delectable flavors from the chicken, bacon, onion rings, and secret sauces. Surprisingly, it filled my growing 15 year olds chronically empty stomach(rarely accomplished by any restaurant). Our lovely server, was cheerful, helpful an helped make our visit as as enjoyable as possible. Personally, I will be back to try the supreme pizza.

One of the best eggs Benedict I ve ever had! The yolk was perfectly runny and such a rich shade of orange. Potatoes were also nice and crispy. Atmosphere and service were very friendly. Highly recommend!

Well I like Frankie s good food great service and friendly waitresses. Have had dinner and lunch when am in town. Thought I would try breakfast and it was good but what I can t understand is why do they only serve one slice of toast. I have never seen or had that happen at any other restaurant so I will stick to lunch and dinner.

While browsing the downtown sites of Victoria we anted to have A bite to eat and noticed an above the street diner so we chose Frankie s for some appetizers. Their menu had lots to choose from so my wife picked the mushroom skillet and I had the calamari. The meal was brought to us quickly. Both of us shared and we must say that each meal was the best of each we had ever had. We whole heartedly endorse Frankie s Modern and will definitely go back again.

charged regular price for pizza when it was happy hour, even had photo evidence as i had taken a picture of the pizza as soon as it arrived and it was time stamped. yet they said there was nothing they could do, even though we ordered before happy hour ended. also we saw a mouse running around.

I took my sister out for a dinner and we saw mice, not once, not twice, but three times was not the most optimistic start to the experience. We would have left but we had already ordered As for the food, I had the sesame salmon ginger rice bowl (which should be renamed a ginger soup because there was hardly any sesame sauce and it was more of a ginger veggie soup.) the salmon was also over cooked, while the veggies were under cooked. My sister entertained the soup salad bread combo. Where s the bread? One small slice no bigger than a quarter slice of bread, for a bowl of soup? Not a great experience considering I paid almost $100. I recommend getting some traps and renaming some of your items.

Vegetarian options: Both vegetarian and vegan options. More vegetarian options, but the vegan options did exist and it wasnt just a veggie burger. Kid-friendliness: Had a kids menu, crayons, colouring.

I don t normally write reviews, but what I faced gave me the urge to. I found this place with a quick Google search of the nearest casual restaurant. From the beginning, it was a decent experience. I ordered the Meatball Stromboli ($23) and Linguini Alfredo ($22), and added Chicken ($5). The food was alright (I d dock a star off for using pre-cooked chicken breast in the linguine) but service was good. I would have given the restaurant 4 out of 5 stars until there some things I faced that were a cause for concern. First, I saw a small mouse just leisurely walking around in the open, and once I mentioned this to our server, she didn t even bat an eye - other patrons already mentioned it to her. Wow. That wasn t the reaction I was expecting. Her response was along the lines of Yeah, it s an issue a lot of businesses are facing, even Earls has it a lot worse - and it s Earls . Our owner knows but there s not much we can do about it. If it s common knowledge that your restaurant has mice running around, shouldn t you temporarily close until this issue is fixed, or at the very least, additional preventative measures are taken? Also, telling me that another restaurant has it worse doesn t change the fact that I saw a mouse here. Second, when I received my bill, there was a 7% PST charge ($0.35) on my non-alcoholic drink ($5). Since when did PST get added on? Only 5% GST should be charged on food & beverage. I asked the server to check why it was there, and when she came back to tell me that there are three taxes in BC, I didn t bother to go on. I wasnt asking WHAT the tax is, I was asking WHY it was there for. This seems like a shady way to be getting more money by charging PST, which shouldn t be applied on food or drinks. Overall, based on this experience alone, it s unlikely I would come back.

My wife and I came in on a weeknight evening, around 8:30pm, and informed the host that we were just ordering dessert (key lime pie). The restaurant was almost empty, and we were sat in a small section with lounge style seating. The pie was great and came out very quick (<5 mins). No complaints there. The problem came when it was time to pay. It took about half an hour to get the attention of the server. We could have stood up to find someone to pay, I suppose, but it was very clear that we were done and ready to leave.

Even on a cold, windy day I love the Mediterranean salad with grilled chicken.

I got the turkey club and it was very good. Not a traditional club sandwich but it was even better than I expected.

Walking downtown and needed a place for lunch. Three adults and two children under 4. Simply put, we were all amazed with the food. The prices were reasonable for the quality and portions. Extensive kids menu. Word of advise, try the Meatball Stromboli!!!! Enough for 2 people. Ill be back and recommend to anyone.

We had a wonderful lunch here to celebrate a family members birthday. The food was excellent, the service was fantastic. Server did a wonderful job of making us feel welcome and took great care of us. I really enjoyed the variety of menu items and the Key Lime was a wonderful way to end the meal. I look forward to coming back again soon. Thank you for such a great experience.

Came for late breakfast! Felt like having something healthy! Best oatmeal I ve ever had (just like my own concoction at home)! Steel cut, nutty, with a mix of granola and delicious fruit on top - frothed milk of choice. Very sweet waitress!

I do not do this very much but this was worth doing it. My boyfriend and I fell upon this diner doing a city tour. I have to say you get what you pay for. The food i just got was out of this world. I orders chicken tenders and fries. They were the best I have ever had. So light and crispy and so fresh. My boyfriend got Blazen barbecue burger. It was not a burger but yet a chicken sandwich. It was amazing if you ask him. He said the flavors were fresh and just the right amount of spice. Flavor explosion . If we ever make it back here to visit this will a place we must visit again. #Ohio

My son really enjoyed his chicken tender and fries and insisted I leave a 5 star review :) He said it was the best he has ever had.

The Parmesan chicken sandwich was very good. The only thing that knocks off a star is they were pushing around a bissell in an area full of customers eating. That should not be done with customers in the area, I feel. Also, the windows and ledges need a good cleaning.

We went for brunch, and the food was delicious. Got the chicken and waffles and loved every bite. Goof service, friendly and helpful staff. The atmosphere was fine, quite generic, but it was clean so no complaints.

Summary: Manager is terrible and clearly cannot handle the stress when its busy. Went to Frankies this morning for breakfast (Oct 14th) with my boyfriend. We asked for a table of 2 and got seated quickly. Waitress was lovely, food was lovely. About 30-40 mins later, 4 of my friends later came to the same place for breakfast but at that stage the restaurant had gotten much busier and there was a queue for tables. Our booth was small but we could of definitely squeezed in as 6, or at least tried to. My boyfriend and I were finishing up eating but intended on ordering more drinks anyway, as we were not travelling until later that day.. I got up and asked the host if our friends could squeeze into our booth. And this guy, blue shirt, which I can only assume to be the manager came over and barked Ill handle this, show me where you are sitting. He marched me back to my table and I pointed to our booth. He was already unncessarily agressive. Oh come on, youre both finished. You want your friends to skip the current wait time of 35 minutes, and youre finished your food. You have have party of what? I said 4. And they responded They wont even fit there you thats too small, you cant just have them skip the queue Now I can take no for an answer. His concerns were valid. Thats no problem, I just thought Id ask. But I was completely taken back by the excessive aggression and how quickly it escalated. Its completely unacceptable for someone in management to tower well over 6 foot and start raising his voice at me for simply asking a question. This is very intimidating, for no reason at all. Camera Time approx 11.15am. Im wearing a white hoody and I remember holding my hands up saying thats okay. Twice. And hes still barking at me. Incredibly disappointing experience. I did not tip or have any more drinks as originally intended, because I literally could not justify spending another cent in the restaurant after being treated like that. We paid our bill and left.

Food toook a long time (but understandable since it was a Holiday). The appetizers were great, but the main dishes werent good.

Having to carry your stroller up by the stairs isnt that fun! Its not wheelchair friendly either! The place is crowded, which makes it hotter inside, and the hostess wasnt welcoming at all, which makes us not go back!

Wasnt very impressed with overall experience and just average at best. Would give it 2.5 stars but option wasnt there. Next day went another breakfast place in town called OEB Breakfast and they were overall experience was 4.6 stars out of 5. Wheelchair accessibility: No access and no staff help.

If you re here for breakfast save your money and go to Denny s. It s just ok. Lost of other breakfast options that are better. If you just want a greasy diner breakfast Denny s is cheaper.

If you want great quality food whilst in Victoria, check out Frankies (just above Burger King; they offer, breakfast, lunch and dinner, prices, portion sizes and service was excellent.

They dont have many gluten free options. I ordered and was assured that the kitchen will take care. I got sick later that night as I have celiac disease. So care was not taken.

We had brunch here on Sunday. Pina colada & the fluffiest pancakes. Bacon was crispy just right. Our server was quick and courteous . She checked on us during the meal to ensure everything was alright Too full to order the key lime pie they are famous for. Next time though.

Mice infested, couldnt continue eating mid meal. Informed management and it didnt seem to faze them. From reading other reviews dating back to a year they have a long standing problem and will give u your drinks for free for dealing with rodent guests.

This place just had great food all around. From a poutine starter to the chicken parm main and the key lime pie dessert, there were no bad dishes that we came across. If in central Victoria, I highly recommend a lunch or dinner here

This place is dated looks like a Vegas style Denny s. Big and fills up pretty good and it s loud and noisy. Service was slow and the food was ok, big servings so if you are looking to get full this is the place. If I had to compare it with something it s like a up scale Denny s with a step up of food. Over all place is clean food was good service is slow, place was good in a pinch but it s a one and done for me.

The hostess was lovely. Our server was nice. I was there with my Nephew and my great nieces. When one of the nieces saw a mouse while she was eating her dinner she freaked right out. I was able to calm her down but they refused to eat their dinners after that. You know the mice have gotten comfortable when they are running around in the restaurant during a busy Friday night dinner service. My chicken burger was delicious and my Nephew really enjoyed his salmon rice bowl.

I dined in with my coworkers tonight to celebrate a promotion and the service was outstanding. Erin was very helpful in answering any questions we had and was very prompt with her service. Our waitress and the chefs truly went above and beyond today and all of us really appreciated their hard work. When I come back I will make sure to check if Erin is working so I know my party will be taken care of. I ordered steak and fries and the food spoke for itself. I now have a spot in Victoria that I know will be a truly enjoyable dining experience.

Didn t have a good experience at all, me and my friend came a few days ago and both got food and drinks, I chose the shaft as it was on happy hour only to look on the non happy hour menu and it s the same price, why is it even advertised as happy hour then? Asked the waitress who said yeah I m not sure why it s even in there too , got our food and both of us said it was bland even and had no flavor ,the Caesar salad as my side had no taste either. pretty disappointed, so I tried to let it go and decided on getting a dessert so I got the apple pie and surprise, somehow that had no flavor either??? How can you mess that up? Asked my friend to try it to confirm I m not going crazy and he said the same thing, usually not one to complain but had to for this.

I had the vegan pizza and a strawberry lemonade mimosa. It was all so delicious and very filling. I appreciate that they have vegan options, admittedly not a lot of options but I m still happy to have something on the menu.

We had a very disappointing experience at Frankie s diner this evening- for a couple of reasons. My husband s steak was a tough cut. He couldn t even cut through it. He only ate 1 bite. We advised our server and they offered to take his soda off the bill to compensate. I ordered the Mediterranean salad with prawns, which was great until we saw a mouse run behind the table behind us. At that point, I couldn t eat another bite. I ate half my $30 salad. We advised our server of the mouse issue and they said they would let their manager know. We were charged $80 for our meals- full price, less his beverage. Such a bummer.

This place was so great! Food was fabulous and the staff were terrific. Cheerful and attentive staff and right on top of things too. Even went back for delicious pie! Now on our list of favorites! Dietary restrictions: We had a friend in our group with dairy sensitivities and they were quite good about suggestions to make sure she could enjoy her meal.

I also forgot my wallet and they ran after me to give it back so very thankful. Would go again Edit: I work here now and my review hasnt changed, ive worked alot of kitchens where I havent been proud of the food ive served but Frankies is an exception 99% of the food is handmade by skilled cooks, the kitchen is clean, problems are well managed. We dropped by on a Monday night, and the place was pretty quiet. The food was good and the prices were pretty affordable. Great service. Kid-friendliness: Plenty of folks with kids there. They had high chairs and crayons.

Omg tried the Stromboli-Meatball it was deadly!! It reminded me of the flavors from when you were a child. There was peppers in it, but they werent too spicy So it gave a nice little kick. The staff was super friendly, no issues. I got a Piece of the key lime pie. I forgot about it so Ill let you know today how it was. I do love keylime pie. I will be back to try some other things on the menu. I wonder if they do anything cool for birthdays?

first time ever in victoria, and i would definitely love to visit again just for this place! the food was so good and so was the service too, and the staff was amazing!

Good food but the service is not so good. The waitress did not check on us and was acting like she did not care. We had to wait for so long for a refill of Pepsi and our food was done by the time we got it.

I was thinking about having breakfast outside while not breaking my pocket. After exploring the restaurants in google map, I decided to visit this place. I d say this is an amazing place to have breakfast. The food, service, and atmosphere is top notch. As n early bird, I took the Early Riser offer which is available from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM only $11.95!! The food proportion was enough for me.

Frankies was just a 15 minute walk from the Hotel Grand Pacific, and it was worth the walk. Friendly and attentive service. We went for breakfast on a Tuesday and there was no wait. I chose the Italian Diner Hash, my Wife had Steel Cut Oatmeal, both were excellent. Stairway entry was a little tricky, not sure about an elevator

Great service and atmosphere. Had the Benedict eggs and it was delicious though the potatoes are just ok. The key lime pie is all that, i strongly recommend.
