Friendly staff. Sub was alright but I expected more. The location is great and while I was passing by and thought id give it a go. It was noon on a weekday and devoid of any customers, which I found odd as the place is almost the size of a small gymnasium. I hear it is a local owner so I hope he can make this thing work. But certainly a few things need improvement.
I’ve been getting subs here since January . I was going through a slump and was ordering skip almost every night . These guys are open late and one of the only late night options . Always arrived hot and delicious . Now I go for take out since I live down the road . The owner is friendly and up for a chat, you can tell he’s passionate about food . Place is simple but clean . Definitely recommend for a quick and delicious late night bite .
Order was received stone cold. Bread on sandwiches was dry and stale, very few toppings which were of questionable quality. Ordered soup at $8.50 per, definitely not $8.50 worth of soup. Just forced this food down and now feel sick. This place used to be good, never again! Update: It's now been an hour after eating this food ,my wife and I are both experiencing food poisoning!
FIRST order was completely wrong. I called and informed them of the error. Sounded like they were going to make it right. I Ordered a Halifax donair extra meat extra sauce onions and tomato. On their second attempt 28.00 dollars for This grease-soaked over-priced undersized abortion. I really thought I found a hidden gem... Now I know why I'd heard never of.
Had the “Excellent”, was really good. Generous amount of meat and toppings at a really fair price. Service was fast and dude working there was nice. Operating hours are a definite bonus, great for people looking for a bite after a late shift. Recommend this spot for anyone looking for a delicious sandwich!
Pretty disappointed overall, while the outside of the bun was slightly toasted the inside of the meat was cold, combined with over sized raw onions each bite was worse than the previous. The owner/ manager talked a big game, this sub was super boring and a waste of 20$.
While the ingredients tasted good. Everything else needs a ton of work. I was surprised to learn this restaurant was opened weeks before I ate there as the decor and vibe was that of a place that was under repair or ready to open. The menus were hastily placed on top of the counter and the main sign outside was still just vinyl. My sandwich had too little meat for the price ($12 for a 9" which is way too much) and was cold, the cheese had not melted properly and the mushrooms were raw. There was a single employee there on a week day and they seemed under trained. I would not recommend this restaurant when there are so many Vietnamese sub places in Victoria.
Love the Subs here! Can’t beat quality Ingredients on Portofino bread ❤️ I find that you really don’t need as much sub vs other sub places. A 9 in sub here I find fills me up as much as if not more then a foot long everywhere else. Also the bag and paper is biodegradable 👍
Must stop when in Victoria
Great subs !!
are you kidding me ? Worst meal ever.
where in the hell are you located
Great subs great service subway got nothing on this place
Person making our order wasnt wearing the mask and had a really bad attitude.
Good authentic Montreal sandwich, friendly service....decent value. Will be back!
Got the deal of the day today for lunch and it was great value. The sandwich was huge and tasty - lots of good recommendations for what to add (or not). Friendly owner. Nice to support a new local restaurant .
Great place to stop for a bite. Went here three days ago and stopped by everyday since. Staff is nice, subs are excellent, and it has great hours. Would definitely recommend
So this place isnt the worst per say, but it is utterly bizarre. The food is incredibly average and definitely a little pricey for the quantity and quality. With my chocolate milk, a nine inch sourdough with a paltry amount of meat on it came to like 16 bucks. Theres inflation and then theres whatever this is. The atmosphere is terrible; it looks half-under construction and there are some really loud vents or something that echo off the cavernous walls. And on my way out, the one worker there exclaimed Resist the man, maaaaan! ... like, what? You work for a restaurant fella, at least pretend youre not high at work.
The owner are kind and are about your sub my sub was great and the daily deals are a great price with chips and soda
Cant rate it highly enough. Awesome subs (beef dip thats out of this world) great desserts, mind melting soups, friendly staff, family run and open till 1 am. Its like Disney Land but with toasted subs instead of heat stroke and tourists.
Staff was great, friendly downto earth. 1st time Ive had a Montreal and it was great. Their tiramisu was great. Youve gotta stop in when you are in the area
Fantastic, locally sourced food. Super friendly efficient service. Good vibe, good sense of humor. Will definitely be back!
The old school, east coast style of sub shop youve been looking for. The guy working there has a Mitch Hedberg sort of sense of humor/demeanor which only adds to the overall experience.
Great service, nice subs!!!
Shawn the owner is an awesome guy, great service and 100% canadian products mainly local actually. Best Gyros around aswell highly recommend
Not fancy, but great value when you get the daily special.
Terrible. Everything we got was either not good or terrible. I guess I should have known with the huge selection they had. $18 for a smoked meat sub with extra meat and I wonder how little would be in there had I not paid an extra $5 for the extra meat. That was the highlight though. The Boston chowder was sour!? Not sure how that happened but two of us were puzzled as to how something made of bacon, milk and canned clams could taste that way. It was spectacularly bad so threw it out. The chicken gyro was made of deli chicken, was cold and also tasted suspect. Nothing like eating something that doesnt taste good and wondering if youre going to get sick from it. This is the worst takeout Ive had in Victoria in about 20 years. Nope!
Amazing food! Nothing fancy about the inside but the Montreal subs are so tasty! We also had great customer service. Both my partner and I will definitely be returning!
Wicked service!!
Tasty subs
Quick turnaround, tasty, friendly staff!
Excellent service & great food that s ready to go in no time
The donair was horrible 0/5 do not recommend
Food was great. Really enjoyed the bread. I had a personalized BBQ chicken sub, and my partner had the Montreal smoked meat sub with beef dip. Hours are great for a late night snack.
Had it on 7-11-22. Almost got food poisoning. Food did smell awful and bread was old. Worst sub place Ive ever visited. Had to throw away gyros
DONAIR BEWARE!!! The donair I ordered online, with delivery was absolutely disgusting. They used a small cold pita and put god knows what kind of processed meat on it, then called it donair meat, with some huge purple onion strands and tomatoes in a ton of sauce. There was so much processed meat and grease on and it. I was uncertain just by looking at it - if I should even try it - but i was hungry. When I took that first traumatic bite the whole thing fell apart. The taste was very bland and greasy and I knew instaltly what I had to do. I threw it away. It was just so unenjoyable, I wanted the experience to end. If there was a choice for 0 stars I would select that option.
Better and healthier than Subway
Took great care of our large groups to go order! Food was great.
Amazing service, super fresh ingredients and ultra fresh buns! 10/10 will be back
It was bad. Go anywhere else!
Had the Montreal smoked meat sandwich. The meat was all but invisible. Being from Montreal this was a real disappointment.
I used to like subway but the staff and the Verity of menu items were top of the line the flavors were awesome also it was locally sorced
Sauces tasty, not bad overall, not a huge amount of toppings, and some of the lettuce was wilted rotten. So so.
Im going to try something different next time. I liked what I had, even though it wasnt quite what I was expecting... Ill decide what I think of this place then.
The quality of the food was very good, and Im pumped to go back for more >:D
Sauce and cheese almost non existent. Meat and cheese stacked at tip of sandwich to make it appear theres more than what there actually is.. do not recommend. I ordered off skip maybe thats why they chose to deliver me a sandwich with barley enough toppings to feed a mouse
I got the 12 inch chicken teriyaki and it s the best sub I ve had in a long time. My girlfriend got the 6 inch Montreal swiss and she only regretted not getting the 12 inch. Plus the employee thanked me for the tip - I don t think I ve ever had that. I ll definitely be back.
Disappointed with the quality of food. Low standard!! I tried twice but still unhappy.
Fantastic quality, great selection, and an honest representation of a Canadian classic. I cant recommend stopping by enough to grab a sandwich the size of your head packed with delicious smoked Montreal beef. Go and see Jennifer, shes amazing!
Delicious subs. The sourdough is some of the best Ive had in town. The owner is always giving people free deserts, stays open late always greeted in a friendly manner. One of the best sub places I know of
Was looking for a great smoked meat sandwich and got exactly that. By far one of the best sandwiches I ve had in a long time with fresh ingredients. Great place open late and great service!!
Great new place. Fresh ingredients and friendly owner. Will be going back again.
Honestly just ok. If you dont pay attention to the fine print in the menu, you wont get what you want. I got a philly cheese steak thinking id get something authentic. It came with montreal smoked meat. The flavours didnt work well together, i also threw almost half of it away due to the meat feeling slimy
good Sub ,tasted good as was the Greek salad.
Dont remember visiting here but it seems to have been a good time
Meat from Montreal, local bread, real cheese and fresh ingredients. Very friendly customer service. Amazing food.
Great sub in fresh Portofino bread! Friendly owner.
Good quality ingredients.
I was really excited to try these guys out but when I went (around 810pm on Friday night, July 26 2019) they were closed.
This place pales in comparison to quiznos, let alone real Montreal smokemeat (which the owner is clueless on how to make, embarrassingly enough). Sourdough, mustard, smoked meat (lots of it you idiot), mustard again, sourdough. FFS avoid disappointment and just don t bother. -A montrealer from cotedesneiges
Disgusting.
Fantastic subs, cheerful owner. Great food in an unassuming restaurant.
I love eating this high quality food. It makes me feel good and the daily special makes the cost manageable. Real Portofino bread is delivered often so its a very fresh feeling sub.
Dont bother. I went to Montreal Subs because there was a picture of a sub on the door that had thick slices of unprocessed roast beef. I went in and ordered the Chicken Gyro, the first ingredient of which was GRILLED chicken. He first puts one of those tiny 5 pitas under a conveyor heater, followed by too many slices of deli meat. When I saw the deli meat I thought, Abort! Abort! so I told him that I didnt realize he was going to use processed meat intending to cancel the order. He replied that the meat is not processed - perhaps because he didnt realize that I have working eyes, doesnt know what processed means, or thinks there are pre-seasoned, ready-to-slice chickens running around in the wild in the shape of footballs. Then he gave me some ridiculous explanation about how (pre-cooked) chicken breast pieces are filled with water which gives them extra weight when you buy it, but evaporates when you reheat it, blah blah blah. Then he said, itll taste good, I promise, because maybe he didnt realize that I have, in fact, tasted deli meat before. So I begrudgingly paid about $9.50 for a mangled, poor-excuse-for-a-gyro and a bag full of lies. Anyway, I ended up tipping him, not because of the service, I just think he needed the money. ...Then I went nextdoor to Pallagio for a slice of pizza. (It was good and cost $3.)
They have real east coast tasting Donair sauce! Excellent fresh bread! Subs are very tasty.
Fresh bread and awesome ingredients. I was skeptical at first but very impressed
Great owner, great sandwiches, definitely worth it to buck thevtrethof the chains!!
Super great food, big portions, excellent service...love the owner.. friendly, funny character
A whole lot of bread and one fine slice of store bought deli meat. Horrible
It was ok. Not enough meat on the sandwich, and the bread was kind of stiff. They were also out of a lot of veggie ingredients. The price is rather high, and the quality doesnt justify it.
Fantastic customer service and amazing food. They have the best subs locally in my opinion! Too bad the store is never open when I go there.
10.95$ 9 beef dip sub had basicly barely any meat or veggie 10.95$ 9wiskey bbq sub same thing 3 small slices of what they called montreal smoke beef barely any toppings look guys this isnt real deal montreal smoke beef its just pastrami and they cheap you right out if you want real deal montreal smoke meat go to la belle patate the actually know whats up there
Awful.
