Excellent food and service! Our server James (with diamond) was attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommend Victoria Harbour House for delightful dining.

Great service and great food everytime, has never disappointed. Have had James as a server multiple times and he always provides a great experience.

The food, with one exception, was good but, not to the same standards of years past. Unfortunately, the prices remained elevated. As for the one exception , it was what was advertised as Oysters Rockefeller. The dish I received was unrecognizable with a curious flavour to match. If it s not oysters on the half shell and served chilled, don t call it Oysters Rockefeller a guaranteed disappointment, even if you were to cal it Oyster Rockefeller inspired, the dish remained unrecognizable and flavours were not inspired either. p.s. French Onion soup had excessively large chunks of onion as if the Sous Chef just got lazy or tired of cutting uniform sized pieces

This is our favorite restaurant in Victoria!! Food is outstanding, nice wine and liquor lists. Great service. Cozy atmosphere without being pretentious!! We usually stay in the hotels close by when we come to Victoria, so it is in easy walking distance. We discovered it years ago when there was the Christmas blizzard! We never miss an opportunity to eat there whenever we come to Victoria!!

We wanted to pay 30$for tip but the waiter asked us to chose at least 18percentage which was around 50$and gave us a very bad feeling

Very dated, bland food, and overpriced. What was once a lovely neighborhood restaurant has, sadly, dropped in quality. I feel bad for the servers having to manage this. Most of the customers are senior citizens, and the food appears to be geared towards them. Definitely dont recommend, and wont be coming back. It would be one star and much harsher if it wasnt for their competent and kind wait staff.

What happened to this place? The set Christmas menu was very disappointing. Sparse servings, lacked flavourful, ugly presentation. Not worth the $. Lesson learned. Never again. Food

Our family has gone to the Victoria Harbour House many times over the years, usually for Xmas or Thanksgiving. This year I took my son and his GF for turkey dinner. It cost me $60 to book a table (!), and then the food was appalling. Soup that was tasteless or tasted like fat and was sent back. The turkey dinner was pathetic, just a pile of nondescript food just all mashed together. Ive never seen nor tasted a Xmas turkey dinner that looked that unappetizing and was in fact pathetic. After my soup was returned, it was replaced with a Caesar salad that was a little pile of nondescript lettuce with some kind of dressing sprinkled on top...absolutely pathetic. OMG and the turkey dinner was just a mishmash of I think turkey and some other stuff. Then the waiter brought a little bowl of cranberry sauce but neglected to remove the sauce from a former diner!! And on top of that, the tip was added on without my permission or input!! You folks better make absolutely major improvements or Im afraid youre going out of business. The dinner cost me over $400 for 3 people and was awful...just awful. Ill never go back, nor will my son and his GF. So can you imagine...over $500 for 3 people for an appalling Christmas dinner!! Never again!!

It was very pleasant. The spaghetti Bolognese was okay, Ive had better and made better. I thought it was overpriced for what we received. The Atmosphere inside was very nice and didnt match the casual appearance outside the building. Since it was Christmas, the windows were painted with Christmas scenes that denoted a more casual affair that was inside the restaurant.

This was one of the most disappointing restaurants in Victoria. The menu looks like it was created in 1980 when the restaurant opened. At the high price point, we thought this would be an amazing opportunity to try some classic recipes that are seldom served in restaurants but we were sadly mistaken. Four people at our table had the side of vegetables and all of them came with large undercooked and not seasoned potatoes. Another person got the chicken pasta. Their chicken tasted rubbery and the pasta was cheap store bought noodles. I had the filet mignon. I ordered it medium-rare and it came blue-rare and still cold in the middle. The waiter Bob was extremely rude when I mentioned the steak was undercooked. I did not ask for a discount or it to be cooked more, just for him to kindly give the feedback to the chefs so they know for the next customer to cook the steak a bit longer. Bobs only response to this was ok and then he walked away to fold napkins. Bob then ignored me for the rest of the dinner and never acknowledged my steak again. After dinner Bob showed up again and with the bill and machine to pay. The tip options started at 18% and went all the way to 35%..... Bob stood directly over our should and stared at us/the machine while we paid making the tipping option extremely uncomfortable. He claims to have decades of server experience but after the way he treated us I really have no idea how. If you have read this, there are so many amazing restaurants in Victoria with excellent food and service. I would highly recommend you save your money and time and go somewhere else.

Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed with our experience here. The food was bland and undercooked with uninspiring presentation. As a place that claims to offer fine dining , this was anything but fine dining. The wait staff were extremely rude and dismissive when concerns were raised about the food quality of multiple dishes. The tip options start at 18% with the options going up to 35% and no custom option. For a $500 dinner this was beyond disappointing, and we will never be back. Please DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!

Shameful to charge over $100 for awful turkey, hard mashed potatoes, stale dressing and tasteless gravy on Christmas. Gordon Ramsay would have closed the place mid service!!!!!!!

You know those times when things get so bad you cant help but find it comical? This restaurant will bring those memories rushing back, a nice dash down your memory lane of type 3 fun! Ill spare you the dish by dish play of blatant culinary offenses, but one thing I just cant let go of is the amount of salt the cook dumped in all the seafood dishes we ordered... Im talking enough salt to send even the most seasoned salt lovers crying to their mommies... enough salt to give a horse kidney stones. This much salt in multiple dishes is not a mistake, either the chef doesnt bother tasting his dishes, or there is a policy of hiding the low quality ingredients by oversalting and overcooking. Its actually a bit unfortunate because its such a nice location, the place is so cozy and has a marvelous view. As a resident of James Bay, I know I would cherish this place even if they had the most basic of pub fares. I guess theres no place to go but up? Youve been warned! If you read this review, then go to the restaurant despite it, and the food is bad, I hope you picture me saying I told you so... But know that Ill be there with you in spirit, chugging pitchers of water and giggling along with you at the salty absurdity of it all.

Classic tourist trap that gets away with horrible food I was very excited to try out this beautiful restaurant. I had walked past it many times on my way to work and one night decided to take my fiancée there for a special date. Yes it is in the touristy area of Victoria, but we decided to give it a try. The menu looked promising and wow, what a charming and welcoming dining area! Huge mistake....the food was beyond terrible and not at all what youd expect at that price point (just short of $200 for the two of us), or at any price point for that matter... I started with a glass of Chardonnay from Quails Gate and it was served freezing cold and tasted like it was diluted with water or ice cubes. After leaving it to warm up and breathe for several minutes, it did not improve....Big red flag, but I had never tried this particular wine before so decided it might just be a matter of personal taste. I did raise the issue with our waiter, but he simply suggested I order another wine and didnt offer any compensation. The first bites of our food confirmed our fears of having fallen into a tourist trap. The Coquille St Jacques was awful - watery sauce, too salty, and the seafood chunks were severely overcooked, almost like rubber. My partner had the crab cakes - they were burned and flavorless. The main courses were even worse. The trout amandine was overcooked and the side of rice tasted like bland minute rice, like you would get at a school cafeteria. And the Seafood en croute was SO salty that it was almost inedible. If the owner reads this and wants to tell me that its a matter of opinion, please dont. The food didnt taste good, and as a restaurant it is a basic requirement to serve food that is of good quality and tastes good. Overall, a shockingly disappointing and terrible culinary experience. We bitterly paid our bill and left feeling utterly dissatisfied. Save your money (and your taste buds), go literally anywhere else.

We each had the sea food en croute and agreed that it would be better with a lighter pastry as a Vol au vent. All together a very good restaurant with great service and good food.

We left Alberta 8 years ago, so when the offer of Alberta beef (done medium rare) was suggested to us, we jumped at the chance - love BC seafood, but Alberta AAA beef is out of your comfort zone; at least at this restaurant. Steak was dry, wine was excellent, service was great. Parking: Easy weekday parking.

We have been going to the Harbour House Restaurant for many years now. We would go there and eat hotdogs just to have Bob wait on our table. The food is always fantastic and the service is a wonderful experience.

Great service and food. What I loved and appreciated is its somewhat old fashioned and reminded me of special nights out as a kid with my parents. This is our go to restaurant for steak and lobster, mussels and when halibut in season it s amazing. The caesar salad for 2 comes with an amazing show, made at your table.

Went here for our anniversary and we were treated great! The food was fantastic and James our waiter took great care of us. We always try to stop here when we are in Victoria!

Started with Dessert first. I always do. My date had the lobster dinner, cooked perfectly. I had steak and lobster, steak beautifully seasoned and a perfect medium rare. James was our host. Excellent service, promoted the specials and even a unique drink special. He was always there when we needed him.

2017/2019 Our favorite restaurant in Victoria. Seafood en crout Update: Back again after a few years away, mostly due to COVID travel restrictions. Still the same awesome seafood en crout, my favorite dish of all time. Great desserts, wonderful staff, great to see Bob again

wish i could give this place zero stars. abrupt service staff, over cooked and over priced food. i ve never had such a disappointing dining experience. my family had a large reservation for 12, which we gladly said we would take two tables of 6, 3 tables of 4, just as long as they were in the same area. we arrive to the harbour house at the time of our booking and we are seated at one large table set for 12. the waitress then rudely tells my aunt you can t sit here because i need to be able to get passed. to which we were all thinking why would you put a chair where you needed to walk?? . my other aunt had her sleeping 8 month old in a car seat next to her, and the waitress decided our side of the 12 person table was a good place to shout the specials out at us, next to a sleeping baby. luckily, he didn t awake. alas, have some spacial awareness. the wine list is honestly embarrassing, i am a server at a chain restaurant here in BC so i know that their wines were overpriced. $11 for a 5oz??? robbery. improper wine service, cheap wine chillers, and dirty, unpolished wine glasses. then the food arrived, my mom ordered the steak neptune and the béarnaise sauce was curdled and bright yellow, upon politely informing the waitress that it was not what my mom expected from a $55 dish, she did not even apologize or acknowledge that there had been anything wrong with the sauce. i know what food looks like after it has been sitting under a heat lamp, and that was it. i also know proper protocol for when a guest has a problem with a food item. the waitress did offer to put in an order for something else on the menu, but she was cold and unapologetic, it was more like how dare you have a problem with this perfect meal. . i ordered the seafood fettuccini, and one of my mussels wasn t even open. i wouldn t have had a problem with any of this had the food not cost an arm and a leg. i will not be returning and all 12 of us will be telling all of our family and friends to STAY. AWAY. better off going to an earls or even a boston pizza!!!

Underground, salmon baked to death - totally dry, rice 0815, oysters in a disgusting cream sauce

Besides the fact that the Service was great, I highly recommend not dinning here. The food is one of the worst I ate since I m here (5 months). We started with a crabcake and the Rockefeller Oysters and both of these dishes were horrible the sogginess and the weird texture made it impossible to finish ur dish. I don t want to talk about the main dishes! I just recommend if you somehow decide to dine here, do not eat anything connected to fish.

Fine dining, fantastic service and friendly staff.

We had a Fantastic meal at the harbour house. We enjoyed the seafood en croute, lobster bisque , escargot and fresh halibut. The crème brule and cheese cake were very good. You won t be disappointed. Wheelchair accessibility: Parking is right beside the restaurant in their own lot. Wait staff guided my mom (uses a walker) through a kitchen area as she can t manage stairs.

What a fabulous meal and experience! The best server ever (not sure if his name was James)-good advice regarding choices, engaging with folks at all tables-including us, perfect sense of humour, very accommodating and upbeat. Happily it was a quiet beautiful place with wonderful jazz playing in the background. The seafood was yummy!

Absolutely impeccable food. The best oysters Rockefeller Ive ever had anywhere, and Ive tried it everywhere! Ordered take-out, and my orders were ready not more than 15 mins after calling them in - insanely quick given the quality of the cuisine! This will become a regular stop for me whenever I find myself in Victoria again. First class!

If youre looking for somewhere off the beaten path in Victoria, this is a great little place. Its been around since the 80s, traditional in service sense where staff dresses in formal wear and a cozy atmosphere. My partner and I went there for his birthday. The service was good. A bit quirky but that added to the experience & ambiance! We had a table side caesar salad, it was nice to chat with our server a bit about the ingredients and about the restaurant. It was probably one of the best caesar salads I have ever had. Very tasty- balanced and bright flavours! We shared the mussels that were super fresh. The white wine sauce was good but lacked a slight bit of richness in my opinion however that did allow for the extreme freshness of the mussels to come through. I had the fillet mignon which was very tender and very good! My partner had the special (steak and lobster) and he enjoyed his. The ONLY thing was that the temps of our steaks were reversed (but I lucked out on that one because my fillet was actually better than how I would have gotten it had the temps not get reversed). Overall we had a great experience! It was refreshing veering away from downtown and the places that we would normally choose. I would recommend Victoria Harbour House for sure.

The service was amazing, the food was delicious (we came with a large group and everyone loved everything), and the setting was just right. Working with the restaurant prior to our group booking was also a breeze.

Staff are friendly and great service. However, the food is completely underwhelming. For this price point you expect great food. There are far superior restaurants in Victoria. If you love food, then give this place a miss.

A cozy and elegant place, with great food.

Came in to try a new restaurant in Victoria, food was very underwhelming, portions are very small for the price you re paying and lightly seasoned chicken and veggies. To make matters worse at the very end the old man (server) was very disrespectful and proceeded to embarrass the individual who paid by demanding for a specific percentage and said did I do something wrong when we tipped him way more then necessary. It s very disrespectful and inappropriate to demand and call out a customer for the tip amount, no one is required to tip an amount equivalent to an underwhelming meal and underwhelming service.

Steak was not worth it. Strip loin tasted like dry roast beef. Do yourself a solid and go to the keg Food : 2/5

Humiliating experience! My friend and I I checked ahead of being seated whether my gluten & garlic sensitivities could be accommodated & was told by the host (who checked with the kitchen) yes. I ordered the pasta primavera with the gluten free option that was on the menu.I also requested no additional garlic be added. The waiter (older man with gray hair), proceeded to roll his eyes at me. He then placed some bread in front of my friend and announced loudly so others around could hear. Here s some bread for your friend but you can t have any He then chastised my friend for not ordering an entree.( She just wanted soup & a house salad). Throughout the meal he walked by our table at least 8 times not once asking how our meal was. Meanwhile he was chatting it up and checking in with other tables right next to us. At the end of the meal, he said loudly dessert? Oh wait we have nothing gluten free for you. To top it off, every table had a beautiful candle and flowers except ours.This waiter was extremely rude & arrogant to us and it ruined an otherwise fabulous day in Victoria. We did nothing to deserve this kind of treatment. As my friend and I were leaving we asked to speak with the manager who was conveniently absent.

We enjoyed a wonderful anniversary dinner - 60 years. Food and wine were excellent. Out window table perfect. Bob, our server, made the evening even more memorable with his excellent service and conversation. Highly recommend!

Everything was amazing except the dessert but that was a personal taste thing, not on them!!

Although the food and service were good but this restaurant seems to be a cozy place for mostly seniors. I felt so isolated as a young solo diner.

This was a gem of a find on our trip to Victoria. The service was impeccable and kind with helpful recommendations. While some sides, rice and potatoes for us, could have used more flavor in my opinion, the food was excellent overall. This is a lovely way to spend a quiet night after a day of running around the city.

I had the Halibut special but it was a bit over cooked. Nice people , cool atmosphere but for the price I had higher expectations.

We enjoyed a very special family dinner here recently - 13 adults and 2 children. I cannot say enough about the service, ambience and attention to detail, the food, the wine - the whole experience. Thank you Harbour House and the lovely James for making this evening a special time and one that will be remembered by all of us.

My wife and I had a great time celebrating her birthday which was the first one since retiring two months ago.

Had a magnificent time dining with my daughter! We made a last minute decision on this restaurant, and they accomodated our last minute reservation immediately. We were escorted to our table, and seated at a window table looking out onto the harbor and a lovely park. The service was impeccable! The food was great! The atmosphere was outstanding! We had the chateauxbrionne, with muscles & shrimp scampi as starters. As well as drinks from the bar, & desert! We couldnt ask for better service, or quality, at such decent prices! We were there for dinner recently and it was delicious My husband had the 10 Oz Rib Eye and I had two lobster tails. Both were amazing taste and presentation We have been to this restaurant many times and have never been disappointed!! Only request would be to have a baked potatoe option !! Good quality food and prepared with wonderful presentation, flavors, and service always top-notch Highly recommend this restaurant!! Was just there last night again

The Birthday dinner at the Victoria Harbour House Restaurant was phenomenal. The Service, food and atmosphere was above the 5/5 stars Ive given. If dinning for 2 you must order the Caesar Salad for 2 that is prepared at your table. Wonderful experience watching it being created, and served. This was the best Caesar Salad Ive ever tasted. I can go for another one, and was very memorable. Hail to the Caesar Salad. The Entree was fabulous. Tasted great as well. I had the Halibut with a peach and ginger sauce with a bed of rice and vegetables. The other Entree was chicken marsala. Both were well cooked and tasty. Dessert was Creme Brulé, and Peach Melba. Julie, our server was amazing. Very professional, smiling all the time, and warming. She made sure we had everything we needed. VHH is worth the dinning experience and the price. Definitely coming back here to dine. Well done VHH!!!!! We will still raving the dinning experience till the next day. Parking: Parking was next to the restaurant on a first come, first server patron only. Not much parking space, but you can park on the streets. Wheelchair accessibility: No ramp necessary as the restaurant sidewalk is the same height as the restaurant. Inside is spacious to move around.

After looking at the reviews, my husband and I had dinner here last night. It was truly awful food. My twin lobster tails were barely cooked through. No flavor at all. Hubby s filet mignon and lobster was equally as bad. The filet was ok on one side but chewy on the other. Unusual for filet mignon. I would not eat here again.

Just enjoyed a very nice strip loin steak here.

The lamb was delicious but I dont think this is a good place for tourist. We have no idea why we are served rudely. We have tried to ask about the portion of the lamb and the waiter rudely inform us that we have to order 1 dinner for each person without providing any recommendation. When serving dishes, my girlfriend was asked to remove her own plate rudely. We clearly see difference in attitude when serving us and other customers and that s definitely not a good experience for us.

The food was delicious, and the service was great. My girlfriend and I had a delightful dinner. She had the best crabcake she has ever had. Our server James was wonderful. We will return the next time we visit Victoria. Food : 5/5

Intimate, quaint ,amazing atmosphere, I felt like I was dining at a restaurant in the 1930s, The menu had a wide variety, especially for seafood. The staff was friendly, warm and helpful. I highly recommend this restaurant. Im definitely coming back!!!

Entering this restaurant indicated quality with the service staff in suites and tables covered in linen and cutlery. Staff was attentive. I ordered 3 different courses and was extremely disappointed in all. With previous reviews, my expectations were high, but alas, did not remain there. Definitely, will not return.

We happened upon the Harbour house near huntingdon Hotel. The food was outstanding, I had steak Neptune, and my wife had salmon. However the star of the entire evening was our waiter Bob . Professional, but not stiff, I have rarely had a server I would describe as his equal and none superior. The creme Brule was also great and had high surface to volume ratio, resulting in more crunchy awesomeness. Id let you know how the mousse was,but the Mrs devoured it. Cheers and best wishes

A classic steakhouse with old Victoria charm. I loved the lamb ribs.

We have gong to Harbour House for many years. This includes two very special birthdays with our family. Last night was no exception, the best service, meal, and a lovely time. Thank you Bob and staff. See you soon.

Food was decent, but got mild food poisoning from something I ate here. Crab cakes were good, rack of lamb was good, creme brulee was okay (the sugar on top hadnt hardened when they brought it to the table...disappointing). Mostly everything on the menu I can make myself at home. Super old school restaurant, I probably wouldnt come back.

Went for the 3 course meal. Crab cakes, steak and lobster and creme Brule for 52.95. Everything was delicious. The staff were pleasant and prompt.

The trout almandine was very good.

Had a great 3 course taste of Victoria dinner hear. Came early, on a Saturday evening. Food and service was top notch. Would definitely recommend when in town.

I had dinner three evenings in this restaurant in 2017, I hope its still the same owners, I would go back with my eyes closed. The decoration is superb, good atmosphere, very special and very friendly attention from the owner, as for the super extra menu. You can choose this establishment with complete confidence

Great restaurant for an adult taste. The music is instrumental, some jazz . The food is great, it is not the highest but if you add the atmosphere of the places, the customer service, and the price is fair. Bob was very friendly and I will say is an Icon for the restaurant. The restaurant is open for dinner, has parking area, close to other restaurants, sport bars, and the view to the marina is amazing. The creme crambulee was delicious. The lobster and steak was good. Service was great , told I couldnt have the baby back ribs but should go with the special . Very plain steak, no taste , vegies needed some spice. Not worth the price sorry.

My friend and I came here for dinner. We were not hungry so just got two appetizer to share: the oyster and the mussel. The oyster was good but the mussel was definitely not fresh. The mussel was salty and not cleaned properly. There was still sand in the mussel. We were not able to finish the mussel. The server did not ask why we didn t finish the food and just provided the bill. Wasn t the best service we got as well.

Service and food was superb. A bit dated, but dont let that stop you from checking this place out.

We made a reservation, arrived on time and as we were being seated they warned us that they were busy. We sat for 25 minutes without a single waiter stopping to welcome us. We were about to leave and then the waiter stopped to take our order. We ended up ordering some drinks and an appetizer but then the waiter didn t return until he had our drinks and appetizer. At that point we decided to cut our loses so we finished our drinks and paid. The menu options looked very dated so I wouldn t recommend.

Had a fantastic steak and lobster dinner, and our server Bob was gracious, humorous, and an absolute delight. We look forward to dining in Victoria Harbour House Restaurant again.

A hidden Victoria treasure. Established 40+ years. Our first visit We did the early bird special. I had the Local Snapper with potatoes. My partner had the Alfredo Prawns. Both the 2nd course entrée were excellent Would come back next time I am visiting Victoria. The service was excellent and the decor very classy.

Absolutely awesome, the best dinner we were able to experience in 3 weeks in Canada, accompanied by Bob our waiter and entertainer who has been there for the guests in this old, venerable house for 42 years. The crab cake as a starter, warm and fresh, an indescribable culinary delight, then the cut-up, perfectly prepared lobster with a fillet steak that is second to none, and the side dishes are absolutely top notch. If youre in Vancouver Island its an absolute must. The prices are absolutely fine for this quality, ambience and service Addendum, after reading other reviews, I dont understand what some people have to complain about here, you get a menu, small but extremely nice as usual in top restaurants and all the prices are there, and you can also read the menu on the outside. But if you only know MC D, you might be overwhelmed here -))) Everything is top serious

Total satisfaction all round, from friendly staff, great atmosphere and excellent food. My wife and I both had the strip loin steak with prawns, so tender and done to order. This restaurant is a real jewel. The staff was most friendly and helpful. I didn t have a reservation but they were able to accommodate me. The steak & lobster was very nice! The atmosphere is tranquil & not too loud. Had the lemon cheesecake for desert & it was the perfect finish, not too sweet. Highly recommend this place & I will be back!

Great service and excellent food

Wow talk about total disappointment , I am a retired chef and was recommended to go there for a fine dining experience.. We started off with crab cakes . they came to the table , they were small over cooked and grease .. no real crab flavor at all , we have eaten crab cakes from coast to coast and have to say they were the worst e have ever had . As main coarses I ordered the NY steak and lobster special . and my wife ordered the salmon . steak came Luke warm and over cooked the lobster was only 3 oz and was just about raw there was no presentation at all ,butter was in a ramekin warm . My wifes salmon was a end cut that was about 4 Oz, over cooked and she asked for side butter and lemon, that didnt come . it was so small she was still hungry after the meal. For a fine dining restaurant it was total disappointment from start to finish . I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Had dinner here. We had the Oysters Rockefeller and the Seafood Fettuccine. Both were good although I have been here in years past and the Oysters used to be served in the shell, now in a casserole dish which is not quite as fancy but still tasted good.

Wife and I popped in on Wed evening 6/29/22 and were treated to a wonderful dinner of steak and lobster. Our server Tori was a delight and the meal was perfectly prepared. This experience alone is worthy of the highest compliments and ratings. However, its what happened later that puts Victoria Harbor House and its awesome staff in a category all its own. When we left the restaurant that night my wife forgot to take her purse which she had placed over the chair back by its strap. Neither of us realized the purse was missing until late. A call we placed to the number for the restaurant was promptly answered though the time was well past closing. In an instant, we learned the purse was found and, in no more than 20 minutes, brought to our hotel in its original completeness. Huge Thank Yous and Recommendations to Victoria Harbor House!!!!!!!!

A totally amazing fine dining experience. Professional friendly staff. Had an excellent lobster dinner. Amazing cocktails and some champagne. This restaurant is little bit like stepping into a time machine and visiting the 80s but that is part of what makes it great!

Made a late booking and got squeezed in. Busy on a Monday night. Peak season. Very professional and experienced wait staff. A true fine dining experience. Crème brûlée-amazing! Food a little pricey for what you get. Very basic salad for $13

It was a popular restaurant with a nice atmosphere. You may not be able to tell from the appearance because it is wrapped in a pie, but SEAFOOD EN CROÛTE was delicious and full of seafood. (July 2022)

It was OK. No better than Red Lobster, but at triple the price. Decent food, but not worth the price. Service was good though, considering they had limited staff who seemed to have to take care of too many tables each.

Just went for the first time last Thanksgiving dinner. We ordered turkey and soup + pumpkin pie. Good food, good atmosphere, every table is full of customers.

Spent 250 bucks for 3 of us. Tiny lobster tail- promised 4-5 ounces. Ive eaten prawns that were bigger! It weighed 2-3 ounces at best! 3 small bites and it was gone. The steak portion of my surf and turf was overcooked and tasteless. There was literally zero seasoning on it. The vegetables were served at room temperature and undercooked. This place is tacky and way overpriced. REALLY TACKY!! They actually charged our table 3.00 for more bread! This shows how desperate they are...(Three tiny rolls) The rolls were flavorless and store-bought. Im sure they are frozen par-baked and cheap. Take a hard pass on this horrible overpriced restaurant. There is a reason it was empty during dinner hour. As we looked for a restaurant to eat out, we chose this one because all the rest were very busy. This place was dead like a morgue! There are so many other great restaurants in the area to choose from. This place smells old and musty..

Table side filet mignon was delicious and fun to watch! The lamb was some of the best I ve had! Beautiful wine pairings. Thankfully they were dressed up because we weren t, which wasn t an issue.

It s been 3 weeks and the tastes we enjoyed still linger with us! A frequent comment in our house, when can we go back? Shall we just jump on the ferry for another dinner? Over the moon steaks, from two who rarely eat beef, but if you do, here s the place to splurge. Loony Bob, our waiter/entertainment, was a hoot himself, as he somehow managed all the tables alone while keeping us all wined and dined. I had the 45 day aged steak and lobster, hubs had the ribeye, every bite was melt-in-your mouth. Began with a yummy Caesar perfectly dressed and ended with a delicious crème brûlée. Can t WAIT to return!

Service was good. But non-alcoholic cocktails contain alcohol. 5 months ago, I had gastric cancer surgery. so absolutely alcohol is dangerous to me. also, my friends food has a kitchen iron brush. My birthday dinner has become a risky meal.

The food was exquisite, the service spectacular, the atmosphere Devine. I absolutely recommend this establishment to any traveller looking for a perfect dining experience. The staff are trained in conversation and service (arguably they should be one and the same). Do yourself a favour and stop in, an absolute hidden gem!

This restaurant is fabulous, we had wonderful food and cocktails along with a great bottle of wine. But the best part of our experience was the white tablecloth service and kindness we received from our server and everyone else we met. Thank you for your accomodations and delicious food!

I went there on Aug 29, 2021evening and had the same experience as Mr. Ken Dixon (previous customer). Food is overpriced and was cooked badly. Escargot was tasteless. Crab cake has the same quality found at Thrifty Foods. Tiny lobster tail and the worst New York cut I ever had !

Great food and good service. The only entrance for wheelchair users is through the kitchen but the staff are accommodating and helpful. I ordered the Salmon Wellington and the salmon was moist, the crust was flaky and the vegetables were crunchy (as they should be!). Be sure to indulge in dessert. We had the Creme Brule and it was delicious.

A delightful experience at this restaurant. Normally catering to tourists, this establishment provides an excellent dining experience for residents as well. Our group of seven greeted warmly at the door and promptly seated. Our one star off was due to the sparse table setting dictated by current COVID regulations. All meals gained favourable comments. Those who ordered from the the early bird menu were especially appreciative of the value for their meals. The Salisbury Steak and Shrimp Fettuccini gained particular praise. A very fine meal served efficiently and warmly in a pleasant environment. Victoria Harbour House Restaurant has successfully operated from this location for decades and for good reason.

5 words Bob and the crab cakes. The food at this restaurant is always bang on, every time. But I need to highlight Bob and the crab cakes. Bob is a server at this restaurant. 40+ years experience. He loves what he does and it shows. Funny, engaging and professional, he is definitely an example of a master of his profession. Now, the crab cakes get the crab cakes. Even if you don t like crab cakes, get the crab cakes. They are the most amazing crab cakes you ll ever eat. My wife doesn t eat crab, had these last night with me, and she almost ate the plate. Get the crab cakes.

Disappointing. Seeking a special seafood-centric dinner for someone visiting, went here recently for the first time to try, based on decent reviews and what looked like a long history in Victoria. Overall, food was just ok - nothing outright bad, but nothing memorable. What was memorable however was the lack of value - for the money, was expecting more. Appetizers were ok, Coquille St. Jacques in particular was decent and had a fair amount of seafood. Signature crab cakes were a big letdown - just two small of the same frozen ones available at most local grocery stores for $1~2 each (I know because I buy and prep them at home- exactly the same). Main courses were also mixed results. Trout Almandine was decent, probably the best of what we ordered. Seafood en Croute however was almost insultingly small - see photo. Bowl was half full at most. Upon eating, contained one small piece of lobster/crab meat, three smallish scallops, and three medium shrimp. (See photo) That s it, the rest was mushrooms/sauce. For $37. Seriously Deserts were unmemorable. Milopita soft/soggy, though decent size. Clearly this place, once highly regarded, has transitioned owners and presumably chefs over the years, and is not what it once was. Avoid.

Good friendly service and attentive. They had a special for steak and lobster with a salad. The lobster was good but the steak was lower quality for sure. The bread was good though. You will need a vaccine card to dine in. They are only opened during dinner hours.

Worse experience ever. The best part of my dining experience was the the ginger ale and even is saying a lot. Took my wife here for a Romantic dinner, never again. First dinner rolls were store and stale. Oysters were ok but slightly burned. Surf and turf dinner, horrible clearly a frozen microwave dinner. Even the salt lacked flavour. Do you yourself a huge favour save the $200 and go to the keg.

My wife and I have been coming to the Harbor House Restaurant for well over 30 years. It is without a doubt our favorite restaurant overall. Great food, great service. Dominic was our server and I can not speak highly enough of him, he was very attentive but not overly, if you know what I mean. I highly recommend this restaurant over any other in the Victoria area. Can t wait till April when we return.

This restaurant has the best seafood in town, bar none! Whether it is oysters, shrimp, scallops, salmon or snapper, you wont be disappointed. They have many seafood appetizers and some as mains. You can even order lobster as a side. The cream sauces are creamy but not heavy or clumpy at all, with a subtle but unique flavour that tells you you arent just anywhere. Surprisingly, you can order french fries as an accompaniment option along with the other options like rice. Even the rice, the way it is done, helps you appreciate every bite of your meal. Walking in, you feel transported to a different time, such is the decor. Nathrooms are upstairs though, so not accessible for those with mobikity issues. The humorous waiter I understand is celebrating his 42nd year there. Suitable for both formal occasions and a casual drop by. Reservations for Saturdays recommended. Nestled among the hustle and bustle of James Bay, we found the cozy Harbourhouse Restaurant, open for dinner several days a week.
