Price increase on take-out !! I guess the cost of paper bags and boxes has gone up ? Our usual take-out has been increased by $4.00 so we won't be ordering as often. Although the fish and chips here are very good here one can only spend so much on this type of food. We usually ordered twice a month but now will be just once in a while. Is it just my imagination or has the quantity of fries in the box decreased ? Anyways, too bad and I hope they don't price themselves out of the market.
We did takeout. Got two of the one piece cod and chips meals, a single piece of halibut and a 4oz tartar sauce. All the food was yummy! Halibut was a little overcooked but still tasted wonderful. We were a little disappointed that the fish was not local, the cod being Atlantic and the halibut being Alaskan. The service was quick. We were told 15 mins, so we went outside to wait. At ten minutes we went back in and our order was ready! Overall very good and we will be back.
Polite and prompt but the 5 stars comes from the fantastic fish dish. ✨️ Its fresh, with light and crisp batter. I like the real potato fries, not processed. Good eats.🥰

So this was my first time visiting Salty's since I got to the island a year ago today! Now I’ve been in the restaurant industry for years, back of house as executive chef and front of house as a manager and bartender. Now the food was great! Large portions, great batter and fry on the cod, perfect coleslaw and the tartar sauce is amazing. Where this restaurant crashed and burned for us was the service! The 2 girls working tonight were horrible. They took the order which we had to verify as the order she told k was incorrect and had to add onion rings as I asked for a substitute and she forgot it on the order I had to reminder before she walked away. After receiving our order the blonde girl touched the table once even though both girls on the floor looked at me and my empty glass and just stood there chatting. Now the place wasn’t busy at all so it finally took my wife asking for a refill to finally get a refill and when she brought it to the table I said thanks and she just dropped it and had this look like we inconvenienced her. Once we were at the bill paying point we paid and keep in mind we both have been in the industry for years and we tip 25% most of the time. The girl who brought me my refill looked at the 15% tip and basically gave me the F you look and just walked away. These girls were young and maybe they lacked experience or maybe they really received poor training but the difference between the bill She got and the bill she would have got was a difference of 30 bucks. Not sure I’ll go back but if I do I hope the owners/ managers use this experience as a learning experience and help these girls reach a level of service that this restaurant deserves and will be known for In the future.
2024/7/25 Before hiking in Goldsteam Provincial Park, we had a quick lunch at Salty's. Salty's is located at Langford Center with convenience parking space. They offer various fish & chips to choose from. Seems every table has ordered it. We had two pieces codfish and had onions ring instead of chips. The fish was so fresh & crispy, we had a great dining experience here👍
It’s located beside a parking lot ( so not the best location comparatively) but the atmosphere (old British style), the food, and the service were all superb. Bought brunch takeout (to the beach). The chef was so caring and helpful in (first) giving advice on food choices and preparing a great takeout package, and (secondly) giving advice on city attractions and “things to do”. Btw, take the chef’s advice (their gravy is good!)
Good portion size, price and service. The fish and chips were pretty good. Fries weren’t my favourite for some reason. The tartar sauce and coleslaw was good, as well as the shrimp!
The fish and chips were top notch today. Much better than when they were on craigflower. Heres hoping this is a trend. Will be back to see.

Food was good and the server was friendly but the restaurant was extremely dirty. Specifically, the front door, window ledges, air ducts and floors.

Great atmosphere and music. Extremely good customer service. It was Very friendly and efficient service. We were seated for our meal. The food came fast. The food tasted amazing. We had halibut with fries and gravy. Coleslaw was super fresh and very tasty. It was our first visit. I highly recommend this establishment and we will be returning. Thank you for a great meal.

Best place south of Nanaimo for fish and chips in my opinion and weve tried most. Service is always top notch, food never greasy , batter just right and consistent time after time. Coleslaw is excellent. Yes, it is nice to sit by the water but the food at the Langford location is worth forgoing that, worth the trip from the peninsula.

I ordered take out. 1piece halibut and fries and a 2 piece halibut and fries. This food was exceptional. Big shout out to both the young lady on the counter and the cook. We were very pleased with the meals as well as the service. Good job guys.

If youre wanting take-out, or dining in without high standards for atmosphere, this kitchen makes outstanding fish and chips. Staff are kind and efficient. Its more than *just* a take out place: theres a room with about 8 tables, Dolly Parton on the radio, a couple of televisions playing a sports channel, and on a Friday at dinner its full. Clean, and smells like good ventilation for a place with a lot of fryers. Even beer and wine on the menu. Ill be back!

When a restaurant specializes in such a simple dish like this, I expect better than... barely mediocre. For the real deal in Victoria, go to Barbs at fishermans wharf.
Came here tonight with my wife we have never been here before it was busy we were greeted immediately; server was very kind and attentive; she explained meal options I just wanted a beer but she told us about the special which comes with a beer so I took that option! My wife had the one piece halibut and fries: sooo good!!! They make their own tartar sauce and they also make their coleslaw from scratch. The fish was cooked perfectly crispy outside and moist tender meat inside. Yam fries were stellar, the atmosphere was good lots of people seems like locals like it here. I was totally impressed: good food good portions excellent quality and service was great! I would recommend this place to anyone wanting quality fish and chips! Good specials all week too! Prices are fair. A+++
I love my fish and chips, and enjoy them every chance I get. Ive had Saltys before and enjoyed them. This location might need some attention. Food is good, but honestly, my shoes stuck to the floor. Malt vinegar is key, but the bottle leaked as the top was not installed properly and ended up leaking excessively. Salt shaker was sticky, and I had trouble getting salt out (clumping). Enjoyed the traditional coleslaw, but had similar issues with the pepper shaker!! I didnt check out the washrooms or peek into the kitchen....

As a new Brit to the area, I was excited to try the fish and chips (I ordered take out) - disappointed to say the least! The portion sizes were incredibly small, chips tasted ok and the fish was very greasy, too moist, it ruined the batter completely. I thought I d give them a second go this evening, tried calling several times with no answer. Why bother, I went somewhere else. Won t be going back and will not recommend :)
If you are going to have a website perhaps you should make sure its current. Checked website, said you were open on Tuesdays. Drove in from Sooke to find out youre closed on Tuesdays.

Nice service and food. Fish not overly battered and a good chunk of fish. Good flavor. We got their daily special. Would recommend a try for sure. Kids menu comes with a good size drink and a good portion of ice cream for dessert. Parking: We were traveling with a motorhome and found street parking quite easily
We ordered take out and were pleasantly surprised with the portion sizes and quality. It came to us hot and delicious with extra condiments. Love them they are our go to!!

The owner in the kitchen yells at staff and you can hear him all through the restaurant. It made dining there a terrible experience.
The batter was very thick and the fish was like leather. Very disappointed in over cooked fish.

The best place on the Westshore for fish & chips. The cost point is less than other restaurants on the west shore. No soggy fish or chips, delivered just the way you like it at your table for dining in. Staff is pleasant and pay attention to your needs. Of course, well be back, again and again.
They charge extra for tarter sauce snd coleslaw on takeout. What a rip off

Sitting literally 4 feet from cashier and they let my order sit on a shelf and get soggy. I get it, it was busy but come on.
I don t usually post negative reviews, but they ve messed up multiple takeout orders. If it was McDonalds I would probably just shrug it off, but Saltys is really expensive. I ve ordered halibut ($32.50) and received cod ($26.50) instead. Today I ordered a 2 piece halibut and chips ($32.50) and received a 1 piece ($18.50). At this point they re pretty much just stealing from their customers. Wouldn t recommend.

Had the cod. Fish and chips were excellent. Then I got the bill and realized the gravy added four dollars to the bill and two cups of coffee added almost seven dollars more. Well played....but arent repeat customers where the money is?

This Saltys location is the best...my favorite, of course, is halibut...There is another fabulous Fish n Chips place that I love but in the West Shore this is so yummy. No grease is very important and the coleslaw is fresh...very important is the fun servers and behind the counter staff. A greater after work pick me up..assessable for walkers and the elderly. Take out or dine in... this is the place! Parking: Never a problem finding a spot. Kid-friendliness: Fish n chips..a childs fun supper..oh of course ketchup..lots of ketchup! Wheelchair accessibility: Level entry but might need help with the final turn which is the counter for take out.

Goodmorning! Dinner last nite, 2 pc halibut and chips! The Best as Always! First rate food and great service!
Picked up for take out. Got home, immediately unboxed and served to me and my family. We had never had Saltys before. It was okay. Not bad but not great. Found the fries undercooked and a bit soggy...the fish was ok but a little bland. I understand we got food to go so it does condensate. Not their fault!
Went in for dine in with my family tonight, my mother in law asked for her chips to be well done, server said ok. Her fries come and they aren t crispy (all our fries were soggy and undercooked something others complain about) I ask for her to get new fries. Cook comes out and tells us the sugar in the potatoes is too high and that they will only burn. We tell him we ask for crispy fries everywhere we go and we ve never heard of that they re chips, not fries. Is what he replied. Uh okay, called my dad who s a professional chef and he says they could have definitely fried the fries slightly longer and not burn them. What a joke, fish was greasy and gross waste of money.
Tried this place for first time, took it to go due to covid restrictions ( ate within 10 minutes of getting it) Fish was very bland, did not come with coleslaw or tartar sause (every fish place ever always gives those out did not think I had to ask). I was the only customer at the time and the fries taste like they were waiting since the last order. No seasoning on anything so lack of sause of any form makes it hard to cover up. The way the fish is fried is 10/10 though. Not trying again.

Ordered 2pc Halibut and Fries and asked for extra Tarter Sauce. When I got home and opened up my meal, there was the smallest container of Tartar Sauce, if you even want to call it that. The batter on this fish was lacking any flavour and fries soggy where we had to put them back in the oven to crisp up. And no Coleslaw! Not worth $30, won t be back.
Super yummy batter. I had the captains plate and I love the variety. It had fried prawns, scallops and oysters along with a great piece of fish.

They used to be good ! I drove in from Sooke to get my usual two pieces of Halibut. When I returned home and unwrapped the fish it was unusually odiferous and had turned to mush in the tray. The fish had a different texture as well. Not at all like the quality product I have received in the past. I called the shop thinking I had received the wrong order. The manager advised that he had personally cut the halibut this morning and he had packaged and served me the order. He also said his halibut was from a new supplier and was just moister than that of his last. This order of fish had the texture of slim. The boss was given the opportunity to correct the situation but did not. If youre looking for good halibut and chips you better look someplace else.

Despite the hours posted on the website we arrived to find the Langford establishment closed. After knocking the young man inside told us he decided to close early asit was dead. Well, we werent dead... I wonder if the owners know customers are being turned away due to staff boredom. Not very impressed.

Ironic how food in a place called Salty s seriously lacked any salt. As a result every dish we ordered was basically flavourless. The root beer also seemed watery. On the other hand the service was excellent and the portions were huge.
The fish is cooked to perfection and the homemade fries are very tasty too... the hefty portion of coleslaw is also very delicious... totally worth the trip... again Thanks for a great dining experience folks Keep up the good work saltys staff

Cod was good, chips were undercooked. Also for the 2 piece dinner( which does not include coleslaw), it also did not include any tartar sauce or lemon wedge. I would have at least expected one of the two. Pricey for what you get.

Just picked up fish and chips to take home. Fish was dry and batter was soggy and fries were under cooked. Second time like this. Called last time to comment on the food and they dont care and do nothing for you.
The staff are friendly and quick to serve and always happy and smiling. I ordered the traditional and the fish was crispy and fall apart flaky. The shrimp was fantastic with the sweet chilli sauce, French fries were cooked perfectly and the coleslaw was great not overloaded with mayonnaise. The homemade lemonade was great as well and not overly sweet.

Great Yam fries, decent poutine, could tell the chicken tenders were frozen , the fish my friends got looked and smelled great though. I Wish the chicken tenders could have been made in the same batter (ironically I dont eat seafood but my friends wanted it). Waitresses were super friendly!

Busy place not open on Sundays. Good selection of fish, chips can be a bit overcooked on occasion. They provide take-out, usually about 10-15 minute wait. Table service is provided. Depending on what you order, and time of your visit, it takes 10-12 minutes for food. A nice atmosphere with English/ London motif and wall decor. Take-out is available but they do not deliver nor are they available on meal delivery services. Still, worth a visit for good food at reasonable prices in downtown Langford. Located in the Langford Centre shopping area, near the roundabout and fountain on Goldstream Avenue.
