Great produce and meat selection. If you haven't tried one of their sandwiches, you are missing out. It's the best lunch at an affordable price.
Everytime I've bought produce from there it was rotten and I've had to return it (garlic, tomatoes and bell peppers, each time on a different visit). Their sandwiches are good but that's about it. Their products are way overpriced.
Thank you Red Barn Esquimalt for having the Group Lunch option on your menu via Skip the Dishes - you always come through for me when I have to order a lot of food for business meetings at my work and I REALLY appreciate it! You save my bacon and everyone at the office LOVES your sandwiches!!
Fresh BC raspberries and lots of other vegies and fruits. They have the best double smoked bacon too.
Great store with plenty of food choices for everyone's taste. Best sandwiches!
$7. For a lettuce sandwich ( should be ham and cheese). You see any ham in the photo? Oh, it’s there. 1 thin strip hidden in a sea of lettuce and slice of cheese. I heard their sandwiches were legendary. Ya right… won’t be there again..
What is this garbage? Greek salad? I don’t think they have ever been to Greece. Expensive cut up veggies more like. No feta cheese as that’s expensive. Gotta rip the customer off and make money right 🙄. Go to the Country Grocer down the street, way better supermarket. I’m taking this “Greek salad” and using it for pizza toppings. Expensive pizza toppings. I’ll also add the 8 pieces of cucumber were put on top to make it look good. Took a picture after I removed them. Basically red and green pepper cut up.
I had the wrap in many different ways and they are all excellent. All the ingredients are always fresh. I loved my wrap every time, but my favourite would have to be with the bacon. The sandwich artists are so amazing and impressive with how they could fit so much in the wraps and still be able to roll it up perfectly. There’s always a line at lunchtime, and it is tricky to get in/out of the parking lot but it’s all worth it. This red barn market has my heart. I’ll be back :)
Great staff and delicious food
Good selection but overpriced. You can find everything here at Wal-Mart for much less.
Expensive, cold, soggy sandwiches!
I had organised an Easter get together at home. I opted for snacks and finger food from Red-Barn. Amidst last-minute shopping worries, Rajs exceptional service and delectable sandwiches were a saving grace. I left feeling relieved and grateful. Cant wait to come back soon! Thank you Raj!
Always a good experience and staff is very professional, polite and friendly! Selection of food is also really good!!
Great sandwiches and shop the sales Amys frozen meals and Napoli pizza to save on takeout. Meals items tend to clear out with lunch crew customers. Cashiers are friendly. Get the turkey pepperoni. Expensive drinks.
Shop there often. Maybe less now. Bought celery marked US, got home and found they said Mexico on the little tag. Also bought carrots, marked BC local. Got home, they say on the little strip US! Okay maybe we should inspect labels and ignore signage but we shouldnt have to and it does not reflect well on Red Barn.
They have some good food here and also some healthy choices, Spices, meats, jams, plenty of good local farmed goodies.
Land of expired goods. Went in there to buy 3 items. 2 we re on their way out. Bread had one day left and was moldy by morning. The Caesar dressing was a week past it s expiration.
When a customer orders something and you have an opinion you should probably keep it to yourself and not discuss the customer to your other coworkers when the customer is standing there it s rude!! Just because a customer doesn t like certain things doesn t make them wrong!!
I ve consistently experienced poor customer service at this location to flat out rude and condescending behaviour at the deli bar. Today was no exception, the service received was shockingly obnoxious and from a supervisor! Look, I get it it must be frustrating for you to demonstrate patience when customers are unfamiliar with the process, but that s no excuse to exhibit poor judgement in how you choose to interact with them. And yes, it is a choice. I recommend avoiding the deli counter all together for your next visit.
Wow! Awesome food, friendly staff and fair prices for real non-gmo foods. Live their deli counter and good deals on steak every once in a while. I find I have energy after eating anything from there but it seems other grocery store (thrifties, save on foods and country grocery) all the food I buy from them makes me tired for some reason, possibly because of gmo products
Was at the store today and bought a $200.00 gift card and got the extra $20.00 bonus. Great products and good prices. Go shopping for items and get to the cash, the lady rings through my items, found it odd my bill was so high and looked at my receipt and I was charged for a label maker German Swiss for just over $26.23 dollars, also did not give the 2.oo off sticker on the burgers i bought. I immediatly returned inside and the lady checked my items, agreed with me and refunded me the $28.23 to my bank card. Mistakes happened but that was odd, however Red Barn in Esquimalt is a great store, quality is great and always has good sales.
Friendly staff, great sandwiches made flesh while you wait
My Chicken Caeser Salad did not contain any chicken or dressing. The only correct part of the description was that it was a Salad of cheese, romaine and bacon. No wonder it was on special.
Went in several times in the past couple of weeks its an OK store. However more often than not, the items that are up for sale are expired. Just bought some of that Cabana tea (2 bottles) and both are over a month expired. didnt realize at first but when I got home I finally saw the Expiry date printed in dark red on a bottle filled with red liquid. Plus the white chunks of mold in it. And I highly suggest if youre looking for good bread go elsewhere its usually stale bread there. Also no offense to the staff but they are really uncomfortable to talk to, either really pushy or just stare at you and say nothing when you come up to check out. Wont shop here again.
I lived across the street for three years. Its expensive, but its a boutique grocery store. Although they had the deal on dark chocolate almonds. Now when I first moved there, they carried a line of Bobs flour, but not his gluten free pizza mix. I asked and they started carrying his pizza mix. . They still do.
Staff are always very nice, but the fresh produce is very often in a bad state, and often is mouldy the day after purchase. Ridiculous at those prices.
Jeff at the esquimalt location is a shining light in this world. He put his own special touch on our sandwiches. He is so friendly and kind and reminded me there are beautiful people in the world! Thank you for the experience
Nice new big and sparkling. Great people. Not as busy as most Red Barn locations.
I made tea but forgot my sweetener this morning, swung into Red Barn Market while working and they were kind enough to let me have a pack of Splenda. Nice people!
They make the most amazing smoked cheeses here! They also carry lots of seasonal local produce which is great as well.
Red Barn sandwiches are food for the soul. Update, Esquimalt sandwich counter closes at 6pm for now! Still great though
Their sandwich menu has a wide variety option, not only are they really good but its cheaper than Subway, my family loves getting food to the Red Barn and it will be my favorite food place.
this store seems like it sells mostly sauce, but it also has a great sandwich bar and snack selection. we liked the atmosphere and the creativity we had with our sandwiches. if youre looking for a specialty store, this one is really special.
Friendly staff, fast service and very clean floors. Many unique items and special services. I wish the sandwich and wrap bar was open later but otherwise very happy
The absolute best place for sandwiches, fruit and veggies!!!
The cashier made two errors that would have cost us $5.50 more unnecessarily. Not sure if this was a genuine error or intentional but in either case unacceptable.
Delicious amazing pre work .. friendly staff
To expensive and very limited stock, but some good sales sometimes on fruit and vegetables
Sandwiches are awesome - the double meat charge is a little egregious, but such is the way of life these days. Will sometimes have the more specialty fruits you might need and their bacon is unparalleled. Not the cheapest grocer, but a great little shop.
Helpful and friendly, and good food.
I bought a bowl of their vegetarian chili, and it came with a bun. It was a very nice lunch. They have a nice selection of food at their food bar.
Awesome!!!!
Small selections however they are focused on organic type items. If you ever come here though, I strongly recommend getting their beef jerky batons. They are really delicious.
The sandwich bar is a absolute mess! They had no stock of veggies, cant hear the sandwich maker, and they dont pay attention when you call for them.
I always come here for BBQ season. Lots of great cuts of meat, burgers and tons of local products like bread and produce. It costs a little more but the quality is worth it.
Always satisfied when I go there!
Best sandwiches. Great bacon. Great staff. Shop there always.
Small, but has everything you need. Weekly specials are a good value.
Great produce and meat selection! Lots of fresh local products and their sandwich bar is fantastic.
Really bad. Veg is very often past its prime yet carries a premium price. Discovered bread to be mouldy when I got it home more than once. Started only going for the sandwich bar but the staff is incompetent and the last straw was chipping my tooth on a rock in the veg! Hard pass. Stick to the West Saanich or Vanalman locations.
They had a few local items but didnt have the lovely local greens I was anticipating. Probably wont shop there again. I was hoping for a true island vegetable shopping experience.
Great stop for beautiful meats, spectacular Sammys for the beach or a road trip, picnic goodies, fresh produce, great staff & service!
There meat and fish products r good.
Bought a roast beef sandwich at 11:30 am.I ordered on white bread. The pieces of bread were half the size of a normal piece of bread. The bread was so stale i looked to see if had mold on it. I ended up buying a loaf of fresh bread and put what was left of my sandwich on fresh bread. $9 bucks for that . What a disappointing rip-off.
Sun-dried turkey mmm
Great sandwiches but they need to figure out a better routine for making them quicker. Line ups get to long even when its not busy.
One of the best sandwiches I have ever had
Best made fresh sandwiches around, awesome staff.
A great little market in Esquimalt. Great staff, helpful and friendly! Easy to find what you need for right now. Always has great organic and sustainable food stuff. The produce and perishables are always fresh and delicious!
Fresh ingredients is top notch when making sandwiches and wraps. Just not a place from a young family to do a full grocery shop.
Nice little market. Deli sandwitches are excellent!
Best sandwiches in the City!
Thank you so much to all the staff Red Barn market in Esquimalt for coming to work and giving me a place to buy food during this pandemic !
Just got a great wrap, the girl making it was so sweet and nice. Great customer service.
Awesome fresh made food..good prices excellent staff
Went to the sandwich bar around 5:50pm on Sunday, August 9th, with my adult daughter to grab sandwiches for dinner. (We were both masked) With one person in front of me, we each waited on a red circle for our turn. When I was called, I maintained proper social distancing to ensure my safety and that of the lady ahead of me. That s when all heck broke lose. A third sandwich maker came to assist (a male) and forced my daughter to come between myself and the lady ahead, no longer maintaining 6 distance Covid protocols. Then a fourth person started making sandwiches and by the time we were finished getting our sandwiches made, we were in a tight group of 6 people waiting for or having sandwiches made. Having just self isolated for 5 months I had a panic attack (internally) and just had to get out of the store. (I have asthma and a heart condition) I ve shopped a few times at this location for produce and have been happy with Covid protocols. But the sandwich bar needs to be addressed and staff retrained in proper hygiene and safety protocols. The staff member helping make my daughters sandwich touched his face mask at least 10 times, contaminating his gloves, her sandwich and all the food items he touched. Unfortunately, this will have a negative affect on my opinion of the company and I will not return. And I love red barn sandwiches :(
Always good service and prices are good.
sandwiches!
Good sandwiches, good beef jerky sticks in the deli too
Always a nice stop. Plus they carry The Very Good Butchers products
Helpful, fast, pleasant service, good displays, beautiful produce, and great meat selections!
quality and nice price for organic avocados 99c
Delicious sandwiches as always
Wow terrible service no one was in the parking lot their handicap parking was unable to see yes my fault but it was raining hard an couldnt see it was stopped before I could buy milk is all I needed to move my car also it is so overpriced I went to another gorcer store to get milk for same price plus another week on the experiation will not shop here ever again way over rated and just a hipster store now they lost a lot of customers today
amazing sandwiches, great staff, wonderful location. lacking variety and selection
Amazing sandwiches
Great food. The deli staff friendliness can be hit or miss. Most are really good.
Wraps there are amazing
Cant beat the Red Barn for the high-as-a-barn sandwiches. YUM! Great neighborhood grocery store.
Best sandwiches in town, good meat section
Very helpful!!! The person even ordered a gluten free bread for us that I was looking all over for.
Pretty good
Its a small supermarket. Because they carry healthy ingredients, the prices were a little higher than regular supermarkets. The sandwich corner was popular and many people ordered it.
Glad to have them there. Good sandwichs a bit overpriced tho... change your name to ol liquor store lol
I used to like this place... though they keep changing thier store hours and now they are raising there prices; once again apparently. Most people dont notice these things, though Im not most people... plus now that most people are all baked, they definitely wont notice
Good sandwiches and fresh jelly babies and licorice allsorts
I love your store for food but was very disappointed when I went in last night because I needed feminine products (you only had tampons and one brand). I get it, I didnt expect much but its bad when the gas station across the street the street has a better selection.
Very good and helpful the service is great
Very Good grocerie shopping. DOWN TO EARTH, ALSO VERY GOOD STAFF.HAPPY NEW YEAR
Excellent.....amazing wraps!!!
Carries some unique brands, good organic choices, expensive.
Great place to shop.
Best sandwiches ever. Good soup too. Great selection of prepared items. I dont do my grocery shopping here, but they have a good selection of high end products that might be hard to find elsewhere.
The sandwich bar is amazing and delicious!
Delicious wraps!
Nice store, lots of good items. Friendly & helpful staff.
I seriously can not get enough of their fresh sandwiches and bun-on-the-runs. They put something magical in their bacon, essentially ruining me for all other bacon. The generous amount of toppings, and large array of condiments, produce, cheese and meats make these a delight each time. Throw in portofino bakery bread.. Im sold! What, reasonable prices!? Cant. Get. Enough.
Great produce and local meats. Check the flyer for sales, as their sales on meat are often better than other stores.
i really love this store and shop there all the time. great to have a sandwich place nearby, and the ingredients are fresh and delicious, but for real, they need to teach the staff how ro make a sandwich properly. Too often the meat and toppings are placed in separate piles over the bread, so half of my sandwich has meat, theres a column of onions in the middle, and a different column of red peppers covering a mostly separate third of the samdwich. This also makes for extremely sloppy sandies that are very difficult to eat. Theres no way I could eat the sandwich i just got in front of another human and not be embarrassed. it was everywhere! when i buy a sandwich, or any prepared food, i feel justified in expecting the person preparing it to know how to do so properly. i shouldnt have to instruct the sandwich maker on how to make a sandwich, and when i do i feel like a jerk. but when i dont i fairly regularly receive a fairly horribly constructed sandwich. Like, when you make a samdwich, imagine you are going to eat the sandwich, and how you might want evenly distributed ingredients/toppings and maybe a 6-tall sammich is maybe not going to be easy to eat. end rant.
Too expensive but its the place for organic products
What an amazing grocery store! Great service and supporting local while having a great atmosphere.
I live a block away so I have a hard time going a day without stopping in. They have a great selection of produce, and the rest of the market is fantastic. The staff are all genuinely wonderful people as well. Great, I think I talked myself into a sandwich, on my way!
The meat is good everything else is overpriced their produce is rotting and its the same quality if not the same provider as country grocer down the street lots of non locals stuff unless is packaged disgusted that they are going the way of the root cellar will not shop here again Ill make the drive up Island the the actual farmers market where thing are fresh good prices and they dont gouge your wallets shame on them they started so great but got greedy. Update, just got some soup from there it was labeled as mushroom but when the lady started pouring it into the container it was clearly not mushroom soup asked her about it she guaranteed it was mushroom said it just looks different and it would taste like mushroom but nope it was tomato I knew it from the beginning cant believe they would blatantly lie to customers like that.
Truly the worst red Barn, old lettuce poor yogurt choice, maybe not enough shoppers, my 3rd and last time.
I am visiting from out of town and went to the Red Barn market to pick up sandwiches with my sister in law and my brother. (My brother has special needs and needs time to process and ask questions) I did not find out until we were leaving the store that the particular server from the sandwich counter who served us was near the end of her shift, which should never be any reason or excuse for the foul behavior she displayed. She was very rude and short with us, impatient if we asked any questions about the process, demanding and demeaning toward my sister in law and brother when addressing us, physically took a pizza menu out of my sister in laws hands and moved it to where she could not look at it. My brother asked for bacon to be added to his sandwich, our choice and we were willing to pay extra for the bacon. Her response was one or the other only. He never got the bacon. She left the sandwich area before we had even been given our order, we had to ask another server to give us our order. That server was polite and respectful while doing so, hence the only star I am giving. My brother felt disrespected, put down and not listened to, my sister in law felt like she had been treated like a child and slapped, and I am angry. If she is not happy with her job and interacting with everyone who shops at the Market, maybe it is not the job for her.
Good Popsicles but most staff dont seem super welcoming.
Best bacon in town; produce is always fresh; staff is congenial
Great meets and produce! Friendly staff too.
Dont really do regular grocery shopping here but the sandwich bar is pretty good. Healthy snacks are plentiful but somewhat pricey, as youd expect from Red Barn.
Lots of fresh fruit. Good prices. Easy to park.
Always great meat and produce from local sources!
Staff were really friendly and helpful!
Decent selection...good produce. Priced a little high though.
Fantastic sandwiches!
Fantastic sandwiches! Great pickles. Cant wait to go back.
Good produce and other items. Great hours. Bun On the Run great to pick up for breakfast when in rush in the morning. Staff are always helpful and friendly.
Amazing sandwiches, expwnsive prices though
Great deli sandwiches! And the Kale crunch salad +++
Great sandwiches and wraps!
Our go-to location for wraps and sandwiches at lunch. Victorias (not so) best kept secret!
Great sandwiches
Nice new location, lots of parking in the area.
Theres and icecream shop grosery store café ect
Not that local- half the inventory from u.s.a
Go for a wrap
Best sandwichs
The only good thing about this place is the bacon. I only ever hear about the bacon wrapped sausage, bacon stuffed sausage, bacon in sandwiches, bacon. The rest is overpriced and busy. This is a biased review because I hate long lines and paying too much.
Great deli. Good quality produce, but limited variety.
Love the sandwich bar
Excellent choices, friendly atmosphere, and great prices
Great fresh made sandwiches! Order online
Interesting selection. Good place to go if you missed your farmers market trip this week
Get them to make you a custom wrap! They are so awesome. Also, the bacon is the best.
We used to drive across town to get to a red barn, but not anymore! Yeah!
Its all about the sandwich station - I only go to the Esquimalt location - they let me substitute guacamole or hummus for cheese - veggie sandwiches are good here - prices the to be a little higher than some other local grocery stores
Wraps here are amaizing
Good place for natural
A great sandwish bar and friendly staff!
Great deli! Darn good sandwiches. Produce and meats are super fresh and tasty!
Lots of great products in stock
Amazing local grocer. Great produce selection with local and organic options. A large deli with lots of options and delicious made to order sandwiches and wraps.
