Island Poké (Langford) in Victoria

A nice place for a Canadian or North American for food and people. Not for the South Asians for sure. Food was not of my choice. Drinks reasonable and ambience perfect but dont go alone you will miss your friends and family.

Unbelievable value, very fresh and delicious. The owner serves you andbis happy to provide background on sauces, garnishes and toppings. Lots of customization, or go with any of 6 tasty standards. Will definitely go again! Food

Your average poke place. This is a nice and relatively cheap option (about 20$). I got the large ohana bowl Vegetarian options: You can pick tofu if you want.

Im one of the regular customers and Ive always loved the food at Island Poke. I went to grab a lunch today Feb.17 at around 12:20pm. I ordered a bowl with half rice and half salad in it. A lady who took my order misheard me and started putting white and brown rice. I humbly reminded her about what I ordered and her response was very rude. She unpleasantly said no, you ordered half brown rice and white rice. I did mention again but she literally denied it 5 times and fixed my order with discontented glare and gesture. This lady seems to hate her job and not suitable for customer service. Langford location.

Excellent Poke bowls, fish and all other ingredients were very fresh.

Underwhelming. Staff served us grudgingly then went back to their conversation in the back of the kitchen! Not really any atmosphere - but it was clean.

We had the most horrible customer service experience when we visited here last night. We eat out quite a bit and have never encountered this kind of service anywhere. It is rare for us to post reviews, but unfortunately, we find this unacceptable, especially for a well-known restaurant in the Goldstream area. We didnt even feel like eating our poke bowl after the experience. The staff who served us were extremely unwelcoming from the moment we entered the store. Their attitude towards us made us feel like we had done something terrible. They made it clear that they did not like us. We noticed that our portions were intentionally undercut, and we only received half scoops of the items we picked. As other reviewers have mentioned, the staff also pretended that they couldnt hear us properly. Overall, it just felt weird and awkward communicating with them. We have been to Island Poke multiple times before, and this was actually the first bad experience we had. We are quite sad because we enjoyed coming here.

Expensive food, decent quality and no atmosphere

It was really tasty. I didnt eat inside. I had a picnic with it but it was really good. The price was a little high Like everywhere else but it was good And you got big enough amount of food.

Had been to this location before and we loved it. We went today Sunday, July 2nd at 5:30pm and we had the worst experience. The lady working there wearing pink crocs was extremely unwelcoming since the moment we arrived. Taking our order felt like she was doing us a favour. When we paid, my husband asked for the receipt and she literally almost threw it at him. I asked for the bathroom and she barley pointed the kitchen not even proper directions. We ordered 3 pokes. Two to eat there and one to go. We were hoping we could eat our Pokes there with our 2 year old that was having a Tim Hortons muffin. She kicked us out in the most demeaning way. I am terribly shocked about her behaviour towards us since the moment we arrived. I understand that outside food is not allowed but never thought anyone would kick us out over a 2 year old eating a muffin while we eat food from the restaurant. When she kicked is out, I told her that the whole experience had been terrible since we arrived. She said, well just leave, you need to take care of your child. I thought that was extremely rude. As much as we enjoy the food there, we just can t go back knowing she will be working there. Extremely disappointed.

Don t go there. I feel like I am not welcomed to that place. The lady there did not greet us. It looked like I am owing her some money! I had a better experience in the downtown one.

Have always enjoyed this poke place, but went in yesterday and had the worst service ever. One of the women, whom I have not seen before but she acted like she was an authority figure in that she butted in when another nice lady was already helping me, she was so rude and had zero customer service. She told me that how I was ordering my bowl was wrong and I need to do it this way, and I explained I order it this way everytime, and she had an unbelievable attitude. I didnt end up with the bowl I wanted as she was she was rushing and speaking in an Asian language to the other lady while I was trying to order, and there was no one else in the restaurant at the time?? Will not be returning.

My wife and I loved our experience today. The service was great, I have some food allergies and I they helped me make informed choices about what would work. The food was delicious. Vegetarian options: Very delicious. Dietary restrictions: They helped me decide what to get based on my own dietary restrictions. I heard about Island Poke from the Celiac Scene.

Very rude staff member on Saturday. No hello, no smile. Asked to avoid the tuna with all the white sinew. Its too chewy. She wouldnt scoop the tuna from a corner without the chewy sinew and started arguing with me. Left without lunch. This is the second time this person started arguing with me. Very rude person and Ill not be back.

Finally was able to try this place and Im super happy I did! Ordered the island bowl for pick up and it was delicious! Everything from the tuna to the rice was perfect. Im already looking forward to eating here again. If you havent tried this place yet, theyre open, clean, local and super friendly!

Great Poke, taste fresh and delicious!

The white rice was really crunchy and undercooked, and when I called to complain, they didnt even offer to remake my bowl. Bigggg thumbs down. *edited 3 years later* ordered again and it was even worse if you can believe that I literally threw the whole bowl in the trash as it was inedible. Hopefully I learned my lesson this time

I love Island Poké. The Crunchii bowl is my favourite. Every time I order from this location I order ahead on the phone and it s ready when I get there. The quality is always great and it s one of the few places in this city that I genuinely enjoy ordering from. One time they made a mistake on our order and I had already come all the way back home and it was very inconvenient; however, I called and they took care of the issue. They told me that if I didn t want to come back that the next evening I could come pick up the bowls and they ll make it correctly. They kept their word and I really appreciated that. The girls I ve encountered at this location are really kind. I do have to say that most times when I go to pick my order up they seem to be really struggling to get through their line up s. I think Island poké should prioritize their bowls that they already feature on the menu, rather than the make your own bowl concept. I think that when people build their own bowl it just takes way more time for the employees to fulfill the order. One complaint I have about island poké is that their prices are quite high and I think they re a bit over priced. Perhaps start some sort of loyalty program like a punch card. Other than that I do genuinely enjoy my poké from here. It s a clean friendly environment as far as I ve encountered.

Good food but really cheap with amounts given. If im buying basically 15 dollars worth of purely toppings and sauce- I would expect more amounts given. One of the workers gave me literally a crumb of the toppings and it was a veggie..

Quality hasnt been as good lately as it used to be. Hard bland rice and way lighter on the sauce unless you keep asking for more. Might just be bad luck, still going to keep going.

Definitely my favorite lunch spot in Langford.

Good ingredients and not too expensive. However the smell inside was way too strong and caused a headache after only about 10 minutes of being inside. Evidently they use a lot of cleaner for it to smell so strongly.

Langford location on October 17th: food is good but the young lady that put my order together a was incredibly rude. She made me feel like a burden just for politely asking for a little extra lettuce and some sauce on the side and then she practically threw the bag of food into my hands while giving me a death glare... I got the feeling that she hates her job.

I am probably the last person to post negative reviews and always try and take something positive from every experience...this was a challenge. After hearing so much from so many about Poke bowls this was my first experience. The second the door opened the smell of bleach and fish was a little overwhelming. The servers behind the counter had little patience explaining how it all worked and what it was all about in regards to choices. We were told you had the choice of five toppings and wanted 2 of one topping and 3 others... apparently that wasnt allowed??? After the smell, the poor service and very high price you sit in an area that has an atmosphere like that of a high school cafeteria...

Place is only good in-store, never order from delivery apps or services as they will mess up the order 80% of the time. A small mistake I wouldnt usually mind, but I wont be ordering from them online again as this time I was missing almost my entire $50 order. Unless you are carefully watching them put it in your bowl, I wouldnt trust them to complete an order thats fully written out for them. Edit: Just asked for a redelivery to receive my order correctly, and to my surprise I was given the exact same order again, mistakes and all. I have no words, hopefully the staff learn to do their job correctly or to just give up... Extremely disappointed

******Edit We BOTH got severely sick not long after eating. The salmon had a smell but we did it think it would be that bad we were wrong. We haven t gone back since and probably won t. We ve been here twice and it s been amazing both times! We order the build your own bowls that way it s super customizable and it s huge!! Enough for two meals. The staff have always been friendly and given great suggestions. The freshness of the ingredients is what keeps us coming back. This may become our new weekly spot!

Good food, decent prices and okay service. Pretty sad to get nickel and dimed over Nori strips when its literally like $0.20 for a whole sheet and youre mad Im asking for a penny worth on my $16 purchase.

On sunday afternoon around 2:30 Dec. 18. at Langford location. the young female, she said she is the supervisor on that shift, seemed doesn t wanna work; very rude and not giving proper customer service, i could read laziness on her face. She didn t wanna give her name even I asked to bring this up to her manager. I was ordering food little slowly since I was reading the txt; the food is for other person. And she said to me you need to order faster . It doesn t make any sense that someone at the counter said that to customer ordering slow.

It was fantastic! I m usually cautious about poke here after having it in hawaii, but this is the closest I ve had to the real thing and it s delicious. Amazing value, I got mine over salad and was so full when I finished. Will definitely be coming back and bringing friends!

July 1st: the young gentleman was rushing with only two of us in the line, couldn t wait a second for an answer. He was rude, I just wanted to leave. But more importantly, poke bowls were so bad Ingredients were not fresh, signature bowl was plain and not tasty at all. And it s Signature bowl! So, for sure we won t come back. Not recommend this place.

Bad customer service. No acknowledgement or anything and could not get me out of the store quick enough.

As first timers we were unsure of the process and the young man serving got a little shirty! That being said the food was delicious and you do have lots of choices once you realize it is like Starbucks and you can customize your meal. We will definitely return.

Gave us slimy tuna. Called and told them. Not to mention the order was not even correct. They don t care. Terrible customer service in the store and after the fact. Not an email a week after. Terrible. We used to frequent this place but we won t be back. Terrible. Once we ordered 2 bowls and they only gave us one. The rotten fish was the line.

Delicious place! Definitely unique and satisfies a craving for something fresh and healthy. The fish makes it very filling. Ordered a reg Island bowl and a large spicy salmon. Both tasted great but the salmon wasnt very spicy. I think the pieces of ginger was suppose to add a kick but wasnt enough for myself.

I go to the one down town all the time, love this place. I was in the Langford location today and the absolutely rude service from the young man has me not wanting to come back. I was the only customer and it was not busy. Sorry I took time out of his day to serve me. Brutal service. Unfortunate.

Large portions and very clean facility. I dislike that they mix your fish, veggies and sauces all together as they make your bowl. I prefer places that give you the components separetely spaced around the bowl so you can eat different bites of food as opposed to everything being all mushed together.

Went there with my friends to grab lunch. The guy who was working alone there deal with customers and orders great and fast. Even though it seemed little busy with togo orders he was very nice and very well trained. Great customer service and the place is so clean. Good job

Super fresh and super quick

I really enjoyed their marinated salmon and tuna poke. Prices are typical and they had a wide selection of choices and pre-determined bowls. I was a little thrown back a bit by the attitude of the employee there when I was confused about the add ons. I enjoyed my poke with their wasabi aioli which matched very well with the marinated fish. Overall, it was the only poke we tried on the Island and it was great! Parking is a bit of a doozy though, street parking or park next door at Timmys.

One of the best meals Ive had in a long time! Exquistely fresh and made the way you like it. I always feel energized after eating one of the island bowls and the raw protein (other options available) keeps me going all day! Excellent service and very clean cuisine

Standard poke. If you like poke you will enjoy it here. Nice selection of premade bowls, or you cam build your own. A little pricey for assembly line food, a couple dollars cheaper I feel would be a good price point for them.

Very yummy! And awesome staff. The rice in my bowl was kinda hard and when my brother ate it he ended up choking pretty bad... just make sure you chew very well :)

Very nice bowls! Cool options or make your own. I like that they have the option of Wild BC Salmon (Sockeye) and not only farmed salmon. Employees are nice and greet you with a smile. Price is decent for fresh food. Makes you feel full and good but not stuffed. Would go again.

The rice was not cooked enough. Hard little bits of rice hurt my teeth.

Was really sceptical to try it. When I went in I didnt like that it was served over rice. I didnt think I would like it at all. I did like it. My goodness was it good food. Healthy. Just plain delicious. I cannot wait to go back. 1 less star because they dont serve beer.

So good. Only a little disappointed because my burrito fell apart on the bottom. Ive had them before in other places, mainly Toronto, and never had them fall apart, or come undone. Will definitely be back. Great dinner on a day its to hot to cook.

Food was great. It the guy at the front thats supposed to be the manager was incredibly rude. I have never ever been treated so poorly. Not only did he speak to me like a should know how to order (this was my first time there) when he asked me what things I wanted from the toppings half were missing labels and were covered so I lifted a lid to look. Well he snapped at me that this was not a buffet. Yeah will not be back there u less he is gone.
