HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE FOR A VEGETARIAN As a lifelong vegetarian, I was appalled and disgusted to be served CHICKEN instead of paneer in paneer tikka masala. This negligence is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE and has caused me immense distress. The manager apologized for this. Nevertheless, I demand immediate action to prevent such gross experience from happening to anyone else. Vegetarian options: If you are a vegetarian, it is best to go eat at home or go for a pure vegetarian restaurant or if you decide to go to Sizzling Tandoor, make sure to go inside the kitchen and watch while the food is being prepared. Lily was one of the best servers we ve ever had and made sure we had a great experience. The drinks made by Peter were also a major highlight. We definitely recommend and will be returning for more great food and service!

The whole place had a very nice atmosphere. The food was incredible, we even had enough for leftovers. Our server Lily was very friendly, and the drinks made by Peter were some of the best Ive had.

We got takeout so no reviews on vibe but the Shahi paneer was probably the best Ive ever had. Perfect spice and heat and I have this dish at EVERY Indian restaurant I go to. Naan was super warm and fresh. Panoramic was a bit salty and over fried but otherwise Id 100% order from here again and suggest it to friends.

Second guessed before going in as there was no one else inside initially. Dang is this place great. Tables filled after and a continuous flow of take out while we where there. Food was amazing. Haven t had service like this in a long time.

I found the chicken dishes disappointing. The butter chicken lacked freshness, and the tandoori chicken was excessively dry, detracting from the overall experience. Additionally, the presentation felt very basic, failing to elevate the appeal of the dishes. Overall, it didnt meet expectations for quality or creativity.

Our favorite Indian restaurants sadly did not survive the COVID shutdowns. Weve been searching for good Indian food ever since, and we finally found it here. The Traditional Lamb Rogan Josh was particularly excellent, a robust and lively blend of savory spices. All of the naan dishes were delectable as well, with the garlic cheesy naan and the rosemary naan standing out. Our server was delightful, and her helpful recommendations were spot on. This spot is on our must visit list whenever we are in Victoria.

Found this place looking online and it definitely did not disappoint! Service was impeccable, everyone we interacted with was very lovely and attentive. We ordered the butter chicken poutine, lamb korma, mixed tandoor, garlic and cheese naan, and onion and cilantro naan, EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!!!!!! Food came out fast, was very hot and very fresh. If we lived near by, would 1000% be back and recommend to EVERYONE!!!!

This indian cuisine is so delightful! Amazing customer service. The washrooms are clean and the restaurant itself has a wonderful ambience. Our server was Muskaan and she was an amazing server! The tea and the mango desserts are definitely a try!

They dont have half the stuff from the menu.

The worst service I have experienced. We came in at lunch and said we would go with the buffet. However my young kids wanted one item off the menu. No one came to serve us, there were no dishes at the buffet station either. We asked multiple times and finally I went up the the manager to politely ask for a menu and told her about the bad experience. She got emotional and told me I didn t know how to talk. This place doesn t seem to accept feedback. Food was not great either.

Tried their buffet, the food looked nice but upon tasting I could clearly tell that it was atleast few hours old and didnt feel fresh at all, moreover the variety isnt great either compared to Royal Spices buffet, royal spice has more variety in their buffet with tea being a part of their buffet and the price is also high at Sizzling Tandoor for its buffet.

Gurinder uncle ji is the best in town. He has well trained staff with excellent interpersonal skills. All credit goes to Gurinder uncle ji for training them. Apart from food tastes, Food presentation is always on point and Gurinder always paid attention to safety protocols and details. He catered my own wedding too and I still have not forgotten the taste of food he prepared. Hiring him for the wedding is like cherry on the cake . Very humble and beautiful person in and out.

I was really let down when the server and restaurant didnt tell us about the automatic gratuity added to our bill for the group. It felt sneaky, especially since most of us ended up adding tips on top of that. Other than that, the food was mid and the service was slow.

Ordered takeout last night. The tandoor chicken was the culprit of this review. For $22, I expect something better than four tiny bone-in pieces. In the end it didnt matter: the chicken was undercooked, and had a strong and unpleasant taste and smell that clearly indicated it had gone bad. I had to throw it away. I pre-ordered my meal but only part showed up.

We used Sizzling Tandoor s live catering for our wedding in April 2024 and Gurinder, Narpinder and their team were absolutely beyond exceptional in everything. We had 4 events in 2 days with a short turnaround time with an expansive menu and the live catering was provided for all events. Their food quality, their service was amazing and most importantly their ability to meet our needs to make our event special was fantastic! Their food at their restaurant is delicious no doubt and their catering services are similarly fantastic. I would recommend them to anyone and our guests from our events feel the same way! 110% recommended to anyone looking for a professional team that provides stellar service and provides even more stellar food!!

We ordered 1 mild medium heat butter chicken and 1 extra hot mango chicken and mild medium tandoori prawns. We got 2 butter chickens, they were probably about a high heat on both. My husband can t handle spice and couldn t even eat his.and we didn t even get a mango chicken.

Order 1 entre and see how much more you want. Servings are generous.

Ordered on Door Dash while staying at a hotel for work. $50 for naan, samosas, and chicken korma, and they forgot the cutlery. Then, I got food poisoning, puking it all up at 4am.

Stopped in for brunch all you can eat . The food was tasty, a bit mild and cool. Limited selection, but still tasty. Server was attentive and the price was reasonable.

I ordered on Saturday via skip the dishes. The food took 2 hours to arrive and when it did it was cold. I was not send the 6 pack of beer I ordered at a $30 value. I called sizzling tandoor and they indeed confirmed it wasn t sent. Skip the dishes wouldn t refund me and now it s too late to get a refund and sizzling tandoori took no responsibility and told me to deal with skip the dishes. No one wants to accept responsibility for the refund of the six pack I ordered. Absolutely appalled at the service and apathy here from both.

Absolutely amazing Butter chicken! My friends and I had the same. Portions were just perfect, we all took some home. Highly recommend this place to anyone who authentic Indian food. Cant wait to go back and try something else when we visit Victoria. We also noticed a ton of take out orders while we were there. Let me know when you open a restaurant on the mainland. Very friendly place, and they aim to please. I wish I could give them 10

This was the worst food I have ever had. The sweets were served cold and the naan was so chewy. Still they cost us 20 dollars per person. It is too overpriced and just a waste of money. WORST FOOD I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE

Food, when it eventually came after about 80 minutes of waiting was good. We were sat in the front on Christmas day. It felt like we were in the waiting room. No ambient lighting, atmosphere non existent. We asked for candles and one came about 60 minutes into our visit, despite asking 2 different servers, twice. At one point, the lights on the wall above went out and we sat in the dark for an extended period of time. No one came over to us to acknowledge this. We used our iPhones and found a fireplace App to create some sense of atmosphere. The rest of the restaurant was well lit and looked cozy. We felt like the abandoned step family that no one wanted to talk to, despite making reservations well in advance. They seemed to have a good business of take-out and paid no attention to the folks in the restaurant, at least they paid no attention to my family. I finally brought it to their attention after having sat there for 60 minutes with no attention. We had no food and were starving. They didnt ever offer any sort of munchie to get us through this time. Most Indian restaurants will offer some papadom and some sauces to get you through. Fine, we didnt order, but come on, 80 minutes without any drop of food, when we only ordered 3 curries. This was a terrible Christmas experience. The service was some of the worst I have ever experienced. If you cant take care of the few people in your restaurant, you shouldnt be in the service business. Sorry, big fail tonight. We had more time tonight to analyze how you could make that small room better with more ambient lighting, candles, curtains. We literally felt like we were in the waiting room and no one knew we were there. It was sad.

We were there on Christmas Eve and found the service and the food to both be impeccable! Despite the fact that the restaurant was very full, the servers were attentive and lovely to interact with. The magical Muskan was my server here at the Sizzling Tandoor, a gem of a restaurant. Old world furnishings and light fixtures, with transcendant food. I started with a mango lassi and the Gobi Manchurian, lightly fried cauliflower tossed in a slightly spicy Indo-Chinese curry. The second course was Shahi Paneer, with cashews and fluffy mallows of paneer bathed in a perfectly spiced (medium) butter sauce, with basmati rice and naan flecked with minced garlic and basil. I had a tamarind shrub and mint mocktail to round out the meal, finishing with Gulab Jamun, fried donuts for dessert. I ve never been a fan of this dish because it s usually served cold and soggy, but this was an entirely different experience. The donuts were still crispy and warm, softened by rosewater nectar of the gods, flecked with edible flowers. I entered the restaurant in a bit of a funk, but the team and the food at Sizzling Tandoor nursed me back to life. I encourage you to take your time here and trust you will have as incredible an experience as I did.

I had a lovely first experience at Sizzling Tandoor. When I came in with my bubble tea, I wasnt aware that I couldnt have it with me. The gentleman kindly informed me and also offered to keep it in the fridge until I leave. The service was wonderful. I also admired the interior. The lighting was very cozy and the lights themselves have a very unique design that I appreciate. The food itself was amazing as well. The portion was quite generous. I thank everyone working for being so warm to my mother and I. And thank you for being understanding when I left without my bubble tea and came back minutes later to retrieve it, haha. I hope to eat at Sizzling Tandoor again soon!

Best Indian food I ve ever had! I get the butter chicken everytime and it s soooo good!! Great work!! I also get from all locations and it s always the best.

Wish we had got the opportunity to try their food. We arrived with two young kids and were asked disrespectfully to wait at the side or go for a walk and return after 15 mins. That s not a way to treat your customers even when your restaurant is busy when in fact the restaurant wasn t so busy. I think the restaurant is trailered to a different clientele and we didn t belong to that group. I wish I could say more; it was a humiliating experience to be treated like this. Wish the owners good luck!

Really recommend! My first visit I found my main was lacking in terms of portion size (though the flavour was great!) Sizzling Tandoor is my go-to take-out and dine-in Indian food in Victoria. They expanded in 2020 and the room is warm and inviting, with a great vibe for enjoying with friends and family or even at the bar flying solo. You can expect a great mix of your favourite curries along side more traditional dishes that you may have never had before it but will be glad to try for the first time. The cocktail list is creative and surprising, with all of the classics reimagined with an Indian twist. It might just be my favourite part about Sizzing Tandoor. All in all, it is my most highly recommended Indian restaurant in the city. Enjoy!

This evening I took my friends who are new to Victoria out for supper. Sizzling tandoor is my go to every time! All the options are flavourful and very filling and good for its price. Today Isabella was our server and was amazing! Isabella made sure we had enough to eat and drinks were full. Also was a great server to talked to whenever she was around the table. This has become destination dining for us when visiting Victoria, for a number of reasons. The food is packed with flavor and consistently excellent, whether you take it mild or spicy. The drinks are inventive and delicious, and the bartender who I believe either owns or co-owns the restaurant improvised an off-the-menu version of a Manhattan for my wife that was as tasty as it was potent. Finally, the staff are attentive and welcoming, warm and knowledgeable. A hidden gem. Well worth a try, if you re ever even remotely in the mood for Indian cuisine.

Sizzling is one of my favourite Indian restaurants in town. Food is amazing, ambience and the cocktails are its hidden gem. My favourite is the Lychee Martini

I love the food, and I have met the owner a couple of times, he is a genruous and kind man. However, my recent experience with a staff was very unpleasant. The staff was rude to me for just standing near the door, even tho I was not blocking the door in any sort of way, not to mention there were no one around for me to block. I hope things change as there was no reason for the staff to be rude in any circumstances. Otherwise it would have been given 5 stars.

Amazing just amazing nothing else needed

The amount of food in each serving is huge. Lamb Biriani in particular was a great pile of red rice but with no sauce. The raita was its rescue. Rogan Josh was very meaty and I am pleased my partner ordered aloo gobi so we shared and I got some vegetables. Chicken tikka masala all went - the only empty plate on the table. The server apologized that two of the beers on their list were unavailable - but one arrived later. Popadoms were plentiful and welcome as was the mango chutney. Service was prompt, efficient and friendly. The virgin mojito was welcome. We ordered mild but sometimes I thought my idea of mild was not the same as theirs.

My husband and I honestly just had the best Indian food of our lives. Owners and staff were so friendly and welcoming. Amazing overall experience.

The food was outrageously good. My wife and I ordered three entrées and we walked away extremely happy with our choice to go here. We spoke a few times with the owner and with other servers who were very knowledgeable and very friendly. Will definitely be back when we visit Canada again.

Forced to give atleast 1 star to write the review. Terrible food I ever had. Ordered gobi manchoorian with naan and ended getting burnt naan with uncooked cauliflower. If you guys cant handle skip the dishes, please stop it and dont make people go crazy spending money for food, delivery,packing charges and waiting for their food. I visited the restaurant February 2023. Shanon was very helpful for me to decide a dish that took me home. I had a classic Indian dish, cashew korma with prawn, with garlic Naan and Indian style chai tea. Potion sizes were not too large, food was homely and mouth watering. Place is clean and staff is very friendly and welcoming. Recommend 100%.

I keep trying to order from this location as I ve had great experiences in the past with lunch buffet but the last two orders have not been worth it. Last time the food was just not great, but thought it was an off day. This time I had long black hair baked into my naan. I tried to give benefit of the doubt and ripped that part off and a second hair was in the other half. I can t ever eat here again knowing they don t take food safety seriously. Please invest in hair nets or other means of protecting the food from foreign objects ASAP.

Reply to management: Then you guys don t know how kheer is made. Kheer should be creamy not watery! And you add at least one dry fruit not just cardamom powder. You can check any YouTube video to understand the consistency of Kheer. Worst Kheer ever! They just boiled some milk with cardamom and added Basmati rice!!! Nothing else! It was like drinking milk with rice! Don t sell if you can t make it and waste our money! We ordered take away from Uber eats.

Didn t take a lot of pictures but the food was very much on point. Absolutely amazing Tandoori fish sizzler, curries, cocktails and that dal tarka was just too good! Also, special mention for the hostess/server who was very accommodating with all our requests, kind, friendly and also suggested few good spots to check out in Victoria! One of the most popular and good food places

Not only is sizz the best Indian food in town- but Victoria is sleeping on their cocktail menu. The passion fruit mojito is a personal fave, however, Kirn can also make a mean Old fashion. Every single dish is mouthwatering! Highly recommend the shrimp coconut curry, butter chicken, paneer pakoras and the sexy mozzarella stuffed garlic nan. No brainer.

This is worst Indian restaurant - I found mold in my food - and my wife got terribly sick from eating there chicken

There was what looked to be a pubic hair (or some other curly black hair) in our take out order last week. When we called to discuss what had happened the manager was not only extremely rude and aggressive, but basically gaslit me into saying it didnt happen. They hung up on me multiple times and did not offer a replacement dish or credit. We order from here regularly but are extremely offended and after being verbally abused by the staff we will never be returning here again. Avoid this place, there are many lovely Indian restaurants in Victoria that genuinely appreciate their customers and treat them with kindness. So disappointing after being a customer for years and years.

Just about yesterday, we ordered tandoori fish and stuff naan with 2 drinks n we got a bill of 104$ it s ridiculous. I will be happy to pay off the amount but tbh the food is not good and tasty at all. We just left the food and i think we just wasted are money there. Not worth it.

This review is of the Sizzling Tandoor Food Truck. We caught up with Gurinder, his wife and daughter at their food truck at the Arts & Music in the Gardens in Horticultural Centre of the Pacific. Gurinder made sure we were set up properly with chairs and a table, Mrs Bawa s Butter Chicken poutine, vegetable Samosas and butter Nan Bread was fantastic while their daughter ensured the order was taken and delivered promptly. A great out of restaurant experience! Can t wait to experience their brick and mortar setting.

I really gotta use the washroom and I pulled over my cab by sizzling downtown and met this Taurus at front door, told him it s emergency that we do come here a lot or the other location but that guy won t even let me use the washroom said this is only for dining in customers. I m not complaining about food quality or anything it s always great but it was such a worst interaction as to restaurant you go all the time from almost 8 years and the staff would treat you like this I guess we ll take our business somewhere else now

We had a wonderful time at this restaurant. The cashew nut qorma was really good! Naans were fresh. We also tried onion and coriander naan and tandoori chicken. Both were great. Kirn was a great host she took care of us a lot and great bartender! Would love to come back again

I ordered a takeout order from here. I ordered a veg and non veg. After reaching home few items were missing and when I called in to let them know about the situation. The owner was on the phone with me. She was rude and was trying to put the blame on me that I did not ordered the veg that s fine to. But what about the other stuff. She was putting all the blame on me. She was not even apologizing. I don t know what kind of a customer service is this. I would say think twice before going to this place. It s not worth it bad experience. Ruined the night.

Owner/(bang lady/banda) whatever... she is rude man... i was out with my family and she started saying things to us hahahahaha... paise de k khana kha rahe han na k free ch... seriously how #_&@$ can this place be?? Part 1 of review - My husband and I visited this place recently for its boasting 4.2 rating, but to be honest, this is not worth ruining your day/evening! A rude staff member (a server woman with bangs hair style - Kirn Bawa) does not know how to conduct herself with customers. My husband had complained about the music at this place because it was 1 - too loud, 2 - very fast paced remixed songs which were killing the vibe of the place. Music is a big part of the restaurant experience so we were well within our right to request a change of music. This woman staff got so offended that she started making insulting comments for my husband about how he should be a little more happier in life and commanded that he should bring headphones the next time he goes to a restaurant . This was really uncalled for and she did not stop there. Right after we paid the bill and gave her a tip too despite her unprofessional behaviour, she said the front door is right there implying that we should leave. It was a serious shock to me! She is not fit for this job where public interaction is a huge element. She can t handle speaking to customers and is capable of starting a fight with anyone for no reason. When I read other 1 rating comments, most of them quote that staff here is rude and disrespectful which I now believe is true. She ruined our evening. We had packed the leftovers from our dinner there to eat later but honestly we threw it outside the restaurant in the garbage can after this incident as it left a bad taste in our minds despite the food being actually fine! Never returning to this place and I will make every effort to deter my friends and family from giving business to this place. Part 2 of review (after owners reply) - Got to know the restaurant is owned by Bawa family and the woman server who misbehaved with us was Kirn Bawa (GM) and possibly the daughter or some close relative of the owners. That s why she had that bratty attitude and the tone she took was as if coming from an imaginary throne! Of course, then it makes sense why the restaurant supports the actions of their staff because it is all one voice. In the reply, owner (one of the Bawa s) mention they won t tolerate misbehaviour towards staff while completely being blind to the fact that it was her (Lady Bawa) who verbally abused my husband for no good reason. Anyway, our problem was that instead of taking that as feedback, she got utterly defensive and crossed the lines of decency. This toxicity will take this place down because she doesn t even know the C in Customer Service. P.S. There are other reviews mentioning that music here is obnoxiously loud and plays some random rap or mixes of unpopular songs. Makes it impossible to enjoy a conversation with your company.

I dont know if its because Im a food delivery driver that picks up from here, but the last couple times the server/bartender was very rude and demanding to me. Im not too fond of being disrespected just because Im a food delivery driver.

I LOVE Sizzling Tandoor. It is by far one of my favorite places to eat in all of Victoria! Its hard to choose my fav dish, as there are too many to choose from. The Narvaritan curry and Shahi curry are in my top though! We also loved our server Kirn - she was so warm and attentive. We always have such great chats with her while waiting for our food, and she treats us as if we are guests at her house. Cannot recommend this place, and her, enough! Do yourself a favour and get some Sizzling Tandoor!

CALAMARI PAKORA WAS AS THEY SAY TO DIE FOR. YOUNG TENDER SQUID MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH. INCREDIBLE.

We had our office holiday party there last Friday and it was wonderful! Would highly recommend. The venue is great for a party, the food and drinks were delicious and organizing the event was easy. Thank you Sizzling Tandoor for a great event!

One of my favorite places to get food! Their lunch buffet selections are usually great, and there are always multiple vegetarian options to choose from in addition to whatever else they are offering. Their dinner selections are good too, and I love their masala chai.

I went there last night and I m surprised why there rating is so low. Food is awesome and there service is next level. Will highly recommend going there and my personal favourite was Kashmiri kofta and garlic naan.

The food is quite excellent. Had a very tasty Rogan Josh and a variety of different naan, all cooked to perfection. What stood out to me was the enthusiasm of the staff to help guide diners to getting the most enjoyment out of their meal. From making selections, to dealing with the delicious heat of some dishes. The food stood very well on its own, but the staff were what made the outing so enjoyable.

Wowwwwww!!!! This place is amazing, the owner Kirn, she went above and beyond our expectations. Literally the best Indian food, Ive had. All the way from Houston, TX to Victoria, BC to have the best butter chicken Ive eaten. The cocktails where amazing also, Kirn made them personally. Couldnt of been a better experience. Even the music in the restaurant, was great, good vibe. I highly recommend this place!

We wanted to have something simple Indian food. We ordered Chana bhature and it was simply delicious. Taste was awesome. Service was good. Music was too loud to enjoy conversation. Tables has some sticky wax and was difficult to put hands on the table. But 4 stars for food taste and service

I ordered take out for this location. They are pretty quick and probably was less than 20 minutes to pick up. I ordered plain Naan and lamb Rogan Josh, beef biryani. The Naan was delicious and tasted great by itself. 3 large pieces for $3 was well worth it. The lamb was piping hot and very flavourful. The sauce complemented the rice well. Beef was very tender and juicy . Really amazing experience.

I ordered potato naan bread please check this burnt black potato Naan bread what the heck are you doing seriously this is potato bread. As a tour guide of Google I dont recommend this place. Vegetarian options: They have wide variety of vegetarian dishes

No real experience to share. Im in town for the BC 55+ Games and after the opening ceremonies I was wandering around downtown and decided to drop in to order some food. I seated myself opposite the bar in plain view and for the next 15 minutes the wait staff did an excellent job of ignoring my presence. They walked past me multiple times without once acknowledging I was even there. I finally got up and left.

Top notch cuisine rivalled only by the service. My wife and daughter had Butter Chicken and I had Traditional Lamb Rogan. The butter chicken was aromatic, spicy and creamy. The lamb pieces were large and tender. We had the occasion to meet Kairen, the owner, whom we found delightful. Well be back!

Very bad quality food!! We order tandoori but the meat felt old and dry, as if you just warmed up some old food and gave it to us! I know I ordered late at night 30 mins before closing, but if you dont have good quality food please dont take any order!!! Also we ordered hot, but the food lacked spices and it was very much saltless as well! Never going to eat here again!

Best food out of all the Indian restaurants out there. Every single item that was served had different taste and you could just feel it melting in the mouth. Even the drinks made felt like you are sitting in a 5 year restaurant. Every time I go to Victoria it will be Sizzling Tandoor for sure.

Considering the lack of halal options in Victoria, Sizzling Tandoor is a great option for dinner, right in downtown, on the border of Chinatown. Ordered was: - chicken tandoori on a sizzling plate - chicken cashew korma w/ rice - potato stuffed naan In general, the meal was delicious. Portions were quite generous, especially the tandoori which can be hard to find in some restaurants. Spice level of the food corresponded to what was ordered. I particularly enjoyed the cashew korma which was creamy and nutty, lots of big pieces of chicken. I ve visited previously and I remember their non-alcoholic drinks to be fantastic. I also appreciate that their menu isn t 10 pages long Decor is beautiful! Downsides: -naan was a bit burned on each side -music a tad too loud (personally found it to be)

Got the paneer tikka masala (medium spice level) to-go and it was so flavorful and delicious!
