Last week we came to this restaurant and Palak was amazing. She is the best at customer service. Wonderful staff. Will come next time. She deserves the raise.

I recently visited Varsha Kitchen and tried the chilli chicken and fish pakoda. Although the food was absolutely delicious, what truly stood out was the exceptional service by Palak. She was incredibly polite, attentive, and made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Her warm and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression. I highly recommend Varsha Kitchen not just for its amazing food but also for the outstanding hospitality. Looking forward to visiting again!

Walked in cause I couldn t resist once I saw my name on the board but am glad I did cause the ambience and the staff were both warm and inviting We ordered tandoori chicken tikka and the dip served was incredibly delicious and elevated the appetizer to another level For our mains we ordered garlic naans and matar paneer . The portions were huge and we were left satiated and delighted with every bite . Definitely recommend

Visited friday night around 11:20ish, the server was pretty friendly, would say i got the best customer service in victoria specially in the indian food chain. Also, the food was amazing and delicious. Would love to visit again.

Came here once before. Forgot why I havent been back in a long time. 25 minutes waiting to order. Only 3 other tables. Too slow. Another 20 minutes waiting for food. Its also too expensive for the quality of food.

Had a fabulous prawn masala here. I asked for it hot and it came out properly hot, which I love. Prawns were huge, plentiful and cooked to perfection. Jasmine rice was great and the sauce as well. Garlic naan was tasty and hot.

I can t recommend Varsha enough! This excellent Indian kitchen in Victoria, BC, consistently impresses with its warm and friendly service. The food is simply amazing each dish is a delightful experience. I ve been working my way through the entire menu, and I ve yet to be disappointed. Wonderful food, great service. We got butter chicken, naan, and a vegetarian dish. So nice to have it called butter chicken, rather than having to look up the Indian name for it. Rather than guess about spiciness scale, we just said mild, and the mild was perfect for me and my friend, two middle-aged white ladies. Before they took our order the server asked if we had any food allergies, very nice! We have a lot of Indian restaurants back home, I eat it often, so I have a strong baseline for this cuisine, and this restaurant is top notch! We also ordered a couple of cocktails, because they had items on their menu I hadnt seen before. Happy we took the chance, we enjoyed our drinks. The food, drinks, and service added up to a great evening out!

Delicious butter chicken and veggie samosas!

Food didn t taste terrible but it certainly isn t fresh!!! I ordered the Goan Vegetable curry for take out and I am 99% certain they tossed in some frozen vegetables. Honestly, I have had grocery store instant curry packs that taste much better than this. Shocked by the 5 star reviews. The prices are also outrageous for what you get. I won t be ordering from here again unfortunately.

The food isnt worth the money theyre charging. Waited 30 minutes for dessert and we had to ask the bar for it. The woman looked at my friend like he was nuts. Customer service at the bar is a solid zero.

Get Authentic Indian taste at this Kitchen. We ordered for Tadka Dal and Baigan ka bharta . Both dishes were deliciously cooked. The service time was little slow but after getting the food it did not matter any more Went there after 5 years. Interiors have changed but food still tastes good.

On 13th june , I dined at your establishment with guests from Calgary. Unfortunately, our experience was marred by several issues, primarily concerning the quality and taste of the food. We ordered a variety of dishes including Navratan Korma, Butter Chicken, Paneer, Chilli Chicken, Chilli Paneer, and Fish Pakoras. Regrettably, all the curry dishes seemed to be made with the same sauce, lacking any discernible difference in taste or flavor profile. This homogeneity in the preparation detracted significantly from our dining experience. Additionally, the breads we ordered were served cold, which further compounded our dissatisfaction. As someone from Victoria, who was visiting downtown and seeking a pleasant lunch experience, I was thoroughly disappointed by the lack of quality and taste in the food offered at your establishment. The reputation of your restaurant led us to expect a certain standard, which unfortunately was not met during our visit. I understand that mistakes can happen, and I am hopeful that you will take this feedback constructively. In light of this experience, I would like to request a response from your end acknowledging these concerns. Furthermore, I would appreciate it if you could extend an apology and make an effort to improve the quality of your offerings. Omg. This food was so good. We had 3 different types of curry and each one was unbelievable.

Horrible food. We ordered Malai Kofta and Daal Makhani and both were tasteless. We were here twice last year and that time it was good. Seems like it is no longer worth a try.

Loved the Goan Coconut Curry with Goat! Also tried the Rosemary Garlic Naan, delicious!

Ordered a Navratan Korma , it was the worst korma that I have ever had . The basmati rice tasted like it was instant and the vegetables tasted like they had thrown in a bag of frozen mixed veg in , wont be ordering ever again

The fish pakora was nice. The chicken lababdar had too many vegetables and chicken was not soft. The parantha was really nice. The chai was served after 45 mins and the service was pretty slow even though it was only us in the restaurant. Rest everything overall pretty average!

**Disappointing Experience at Varsha Restaurant** As visitors to Victoria, we were excited to try Varsha after reading some positive reviews. Unfortunately, our experience was far from enjoyable. Not only did they mess up our order, but the food we eventually received wasnt worth eating. It lacked flavor and freshness, and we were left feeling disappointed after what was supposed to be a nice dining experience. The service was slow and disorganized, making the evening even more frustrating. I wouldn t recommend this place based on our visit there are plenty of better options in the area.

Varsha provided catering for my wedding and both the food and the service were absolutely incredible. Arshad was reliable, quick to respond, and generous with his time at every point in the process. Every dietary restriction was accommodated. The food was delicious and an absolute hit with our guests. We cannot thank Varsha enough for a delicious and stress free meal at our wedding. Dietary restrictions: Lots of vegan, gluten free, and dairy free options.

Varsha used to be our go to for Indian but the last 3x weve ordered it has been disappointing with our order today being the worst thus far. Today, I ordered Moms Aloo Gobi and received a small container with cauliflower and potatoes in butter chicken sauce ($18). Im not a huge fan of butter chicken so it was disappointing to receive an Aloo Gobi dish swimming in the sauce. The other two dishes ordered were butter chicken. Both people said the sauce tasted like Chef Boyardee tomato sauce and it wasnt good. As my non-butter chicken meal was also in the sauce for some reason, I can confirm it was very zoodles/chef boyardee-esque. Also, like a lot of places, portions have shrunk significantly. Quality and taste no longer matches the price so we wont be ordering from here again.

Worst indian food ever. Took 20 min for naan and 1hr food . After that food tasted so bad that couldn t even eat. Over priced food . Worst experience

Very disappointed from this place, such a wrost Indian restaurant. Service is wrost. This is an authentic place for stale food, No freshness. Frozen naans, frozen rolls, frozen chickpeas and curry has just the taste of tomato paste.

I have dined at many Indian restaurants in Greater Victoria area over the past years and Varsha has exceeded all expectations and is a cut above all others. Service, quick response, guality & presentation. The hostesses are so ready & willing to go the extra which makes Varsha a 5 STAR IN ALL ASPECTS OF DINING OUT.

Good service and moreover the staff was humble enough. We got attended by Raman and was an overall great experience. Chicken Biryani was really nice and will definitely try again whenever we are around the corner.

As an Indian who has had a lot of experience eating Indian food, the food was horrible. The biriyani was the worst biriyani I ever had. The other dishes were decent. The biriyani is so overpriced as well. I do not recommend it to anyone.

I truly cannot say enough about how fabulous the staff and food is I found Varsha earlier this year as I live above the MEC store and wanted to try somewhere new for food Varsha did not disappoint. I m a weekly visitor here at this establishment and I can honestly say it gets better every time. The staff are extremely lovely. Arshad is always accommodating and friendly every time I am there, the lovely waitresses work so very hard but always have a smile on their face, their food, well, that s the icing on the cake. Delicious in every sense. I highly recommend Varsha, trust me on this one!!

We had the mussels at Varsha! Very disappointing, many of the mussels were broken, when we ask the server why they were broken in pieces she said they must be broken because of how they cook it, might be fragile!! We didn t believe it and stop heating what look to us like old mussels that didn t open naturally. No good!!

Very bad food. Unfortunately none of the food that was made had any authentic taste, the gravy for different curries we ordered was not cooked properly, the chicken had a smell to it, daal which is te simplist of food was also a big fail. Lastly, the washrooms were clogged.

This place was awesome! We went in very hungry and the food was amazing. The coconut curry mussels were super and the mom s plate to share was just perfect for 5 of us. The butter chicken was smooth and delicious and the naan was perfect for dipping in the terrific sauces. Check it out!

Came here for first time ! The food we ordered was : Lababdar chicken : One star for it... House Special chicken: One star for it , want to give two but my taste buds wont allow at all.. Daal makhni : One star for it ... Really need to improve on the authentic cooking skills for the chef, the food was no where close to Indian food not even tasty food ATALL !! Totally yucky food and the quantity was even less then how much it should normally be according to the prices ! If you are an indian never come here... If you are not indian and still come and eat food here you will not experience what indian food taste like in reality!!

The difference between fine dining Indian and mediocre Indian is huge. This was a mediocre meal at best. The type of meal that leaves your stomach a little queasy and wishing you had read the reviews. Bland is the best word I can find to describe the food. A total disappointment. There are some very good restaurants in Victoria BC but this isnt one of them.

I recently dined at this restaurant and i must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment i walked in, i was greeted warmly by the staff. The ambiance was inviting, with traditional indian decor that set perfect tone for the evening. Now, lets talk about the food. Each dish was bursting with flavour, a true testament to the skill and expertise of the chefs. From the rich and creamy butter chicken to the perfectly spiced biryani, every bite was a delight to the senses. But what truly set this restaurant apart was the service. The girls who waited on out tables were not only attentive and efficient but also very knowledgeable of the menu. They went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed, from recommendations on what to order to ensuring our glasses were never empty. Overall, my experience was nothing short of amazing . ..!!

Suggestions for the cook/chef : Please cook Indian tastes for Indian customers. We Indians always looks for an authentic Indian taste. Cook blend food for other customers but not for Indian people. I liked the food but I can give you a 4 star on food. We Indians used to eat pure authentic Indian taste. Fika nahi bhaiya.

This was our first taste of Indian cuisine. We were visiting Victoria and sightseeing in Chinatown. We had decided to try authentic cuisine from places never experienced. It was delicious and the waitresses were very friendly and helpful in our selections. Highly recommend.

We come here fairly often. The food is delicious; I recommend the tandoori prawns, broccoli and curries. The breads are excellent.

I went there with my buddies. it was great experience at Varsha. we tried bunch of different things there all of them were delicious but one drink wasn t good which we didn t like but staff was very good specially palak she changed the drink twice. She was friendly and helping person.

Our family eats at Varsha 2-3 times a month and we have always loved our visits and their food in the past. We have been loyal customers for 2+ years now. Unfortunately last night we went there for dinner and it was a disaster in the food department in every sense of the word and every one of our meals The food lacked every flavour we were used @Varsha and our entrees were poorly seasoned and presented. The butter chicken tastes almost like a bland tomato sauce/soup, my daughters paneer was absolutely flavourless and very soupy and reminded us of puréed spinach you feed a baby, not at all the quality we are used and my dish. I won t even mention my dish because we sent it back, it was that bad. Not sure what s going on, but for almost a $100 dinner, we left upset, hungry and disappointed. We have decided to take a break from Varsha and spread our wings (and pocketbook) elsewhere for awhile.

Very dissappointed with the last night dinner at VARSHA . Service was good but the quality of food was not UPTO THE MARK . Wont recommend this place . Last night we order veg kofta which was blend . Lamb biryani was ok . But chicken tikka was absolutely disgusting. I never had such bad experience in an Indian restaurant . The servers were kind void the item . The quality of the chicken was so bad . Indo style chicken chilly was ok . Tandoori prawns was also a disaster. Cold old stale prawns . I hope some one reads this and address the kitchen . Value for money was zero . Managers and the owner need to have a word with the kitchen stafff . If u cant make it rite take it out of menu .

We had lunch there on Friday May 10th. They had a beer and butter chicken Poutine special that we both absolutely loved. Price was great and our service was even better. Good portion sizes too. I cant wait to go back and try their Matar Panneer for dinner sometime. Also some of the best chutney Ive ever had with a Samosa!

The most down to earth blessed incredible food! Great central downtown location. Great prices and 100% authentic. As an indigenous 2S elder, I give them 5stars at least. I had a wonderful time here, I had the chef s platter and the assortment was very tasty. The food came in a timely manner and the staff was very kind. Highly recommend.

We were here five years ago and never forgot how delicious it was. It was the first place we visited when we got back to Victoria. The service is fast and friendly and the food is perfect in every way. So flavorful!

Heaven for Chai lovers, its hard to maintain the same taste everytime kudos to the kitchen, and the bartha i found the unique things with so delicious which i hardly get throughout Victoria.

Very runny tasteless dahl. Im used to so much better elsewhere. ( as in everywhere else) Noisy atmosphere with blender going for 10 min. Plug in heaters all over the place. Sketchy washroom. Good thing is, im never going back.

Great food and service

This place is a crown jewel of East Indian cuisine on the island. Loved the authentic taste of Indian recipes. I ordered butter chicken and butter naan. They have the Fat Tug IPA which for me was a great pairing. The butter chicken comes with a serving of basmati rice! Delicious. Just delicious. Quantity could be a bit more though for the price. I liked it so much that I came back the very next day to get the flavour experience one last time before I left town to go home. The service is also top notch. Their server Palak is a delight. So courteous, with a smile all the time. I felt really well taken care of. I write very few reviews but this was so worth it. One of my favorite places now whenever I visit Victoria! Absolutely the best Indian food in Victoria. Naan bread is insane, butter checking is amazing and the samosas are so good.

The service was not good. Waited 30 mins to get our food. Staff looked puzzled when we said we were vegan. The flavors were bland and unimpressive. The carrots and peas were the frozen kind or out of a can. There are many great Indian restaurants around to compete with. This one has a great opportunity because of location to be a great restaurant, but it appears they dont want to? Past reviews they havent paid much attention to? Tip 1. Staff should be professional and knowledgeable. 2. Food presentation is important. 3. FLAVOUR! 4. Run it like a professional place, not a place for restaurant owner family/friends to hang out etc. Great location, not great restaurant.

Ive been to Varsha twice now. Food is excellent and the service has been great. We had the Chefs special for 2 easily would have fed 3. 2nd Visit was for their happy hour. Nice selection of foods and a good cold beer. Happy hour at an Indian restaurant is genius! Very reasonable happy hour prices. Cant wait to go back. Next visit will be for burger night! Well specifically the lamb burger. The 4 stars for atmosphere is because its cool in the restaurant in the winter. Varsha had space heaters and they help but if this would be an issue for you go to Varsha when the weather warms up. Parking: Down town Victoria you are walking and paying. Pay more park close and walk...pay less and walk further. Park for free and have a nice longer walk. Worth the walk anyway.

This is the second time we have ordered take out from Varsha. We ordered a number of different dishes, and a few sides and everything was absolutely delicious! I am excited for leftovers tomorrow. My new trusted go to for Indian food in Victoria.

worst dine in service i ever had.

The food is top notch. I had the lamb curry and the lamb melts in your mouth its so tender. Perfectly seasoned garlic naan bread. And a very good list of mock tails (I recommend the ginger mojito). Super nice staff and always high quality. I took my mom who doesnt like her food too spicy and they made hers a mild curry that was perfect for her. I prefer medium+ spicy (the kind that makes you sweat!) so I asked for that and it had plenty of kick. They customize each dish to your level so it works for everyone.

I recently dined at Varsha and had a fantastic experience. The food was delicious and the service was excellent attentive and friendly. Prices were also quite reasonable, especially for the quality of the meal. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine!

Found this restaurant while looking for a later Sunday night dinner. So glad we stumbled onto it. Delicious food and great service. Loved that we were able to have a say in how spicy we wanted our meals. Reasonably priced for the quality and portion size. Will definitely be back.

I visited this palace today with my family and the service was horrible No one came us for the feedback and when we called to the manager and she just ignored us and she sent the server which was not good at all. And yes we proud to be desi . The servers know what I mean

We had an excellent pre-concert date night dinner at Varsha Indian Kitchen on February 22nd. The service was excellent and the food was amazing - GF options too Thank you so much to the beautiful Varsha team and our server, Palak, for a perfect experience! Vegetarian options: The Dal Makhani was amazing! Dietary restrictions: I was grateful for the GF vegetarian options.

Great service, food was as good as I recalled from our visit last year! So glad we went again! Portions are huge, lots of leftovers.

This is the second Indian restaurant Ive tried, as the first one was a real disappointment... I ordered this time through a DoorDash (I have no idea what the ambiance is like inside). I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors and quantities! What we particularly liked : -The fish pakora (there were around ten pieces in my box while the image only showed three or four pieces. They were delicious so a great surprise to discover so many!) -The goan coconut curry with fish was killer too -The plain Naan was good -And the Butter chicken, one of the best Ive eaten! What we liked less : -The coconut naan (Its a naan stuffed with a (too) thick layer of coconut shavings -The coconut rice really disappointed us because it was simply mixed rice with coconut shavings and not made with real coconut milk. -Unfortunately, the House salad that I had as an accompaniment to the Butter chicken was not at all the same recipe as the House salad which is displayed on the menu. I didnt like the one that was given to me. On the other hand, I would have liked to taste the one with the mangoes on the menu, you shouldnt call, its the salad of the same name if they are different! Conclusion : I really enjoyed my meal and it is a restaurant that I recommend. I would recommend again for sure. There has lots of things that I havent tasted and that make me want it. For my second experience it was there and there: huge disappointment! My staff is not very welcoming, it was really cold in the restaurant I had to keep my coat on! we had a cocktail, it was the most abominable I could drink in Victoria, the fleet had no taste, I felt like I was drinking water in a glass of poorly washed orange juice, it was horrible! to finish the service was so long that we decided to leave with our food rather than eat there, it was too cold anyway. Super fast service and great food! I got a hot butter chicken, and it definitely satisfied my spicy craving. However, if youre a fiend for spice on occasion (like me), you might want to add your own at home. I got take out and everyone was very friendly. I did spend almost $30 after tip for curry, which comes with rice, but I added on some Naan. It gave me about 2 meals. Id rather pay this much for food, which is prepared in a clean environment, than return to other Indian restaurants. Unfortunately, there are just not as many curry options here at Varsha. Please consider adding a mango curry to your menu! Thank you.

I liked food, Palak gave us the best service that we were able to enjoy our trip however there was another server lady, who was bit rude with no smile. We went twice and both the employees were same like one was best while other girl was rude.

Finally had a chance to visit here. Cool Indian Fusion menu. We tried the Tandoori Chicken Quesadilla and the Tandoori Shrimp with Mango Quesadilla. Awesome. The Masala Fries are a must try.

Asked for my wings to be super spicy and they werent even mildly so. I told the server and all she did was bring Sriracha, which isnt even Indian. Not only that but the wings were cold. We sat for at 20 minutes before she even came to our table, with water, menus or even acknowledged us after she pointed at the table to go sit at when we walked in. There was only one other table inside of two which werent being take care of well either. The rest of the food was barely ok but definitely not authentic flavors or cooking methods.

Varsha is my favourite spot for Indian food in town. The food is consistently 10/10, and the staff are AMAZING!! I recently ordered through SkiptheDishes and wanted to add a beverage to the order after placing it, but Skip would not let me without cancelling the order. I called Varsha, and they added it complimentary!! This is above and beyond what I expected. My go to order is palak paneer, mom s samosas and garlic naan.

Had the lamb biryani - did not disappoint! Was flavorful, good portion size. Will definitely eat there again. Great value for money for yummylicious food!!!

Went here for lunch. The food was okay Ive had better! Prices are cheap to fair. The service wasnt great! Got served warm water when we asked for water. Good place for a quick bite dont think Ill be back because I like other places better!

The food is not accurate to what the menu describes. Masala fries are cheap freezer fries with almost no seasoning, and the burgers don t have portofino brioche buns , they come with low quality sesame buns, like wonderbread. The price is not reasonable for what you get. We were really disappointed and will not be coming back.

Food was excellent, portions were a little smaller than typical, but pricing was good. Ordered 4 dishes and an extra naan for 3 people, and there was plenty. Flavours were excellent, could have been a bit more meat in the sauces. My favourite was the spicy lamb curry, it was actually spicy.

Beautiful ambience, great food, and amazing service! Ordered the poutine, mango lassi, and butter chicken samosa extremely tasty and super filling! Would 100% recommend to anyone in Victoria or visiting Victoria.
