We have come to this restaurant every time we are in the area, and it is fantastic every time! They have great food, a very long and vast variety of drinks and they have wonderful service every time, but our waitress this time, Alex, was absolutely phenomenal! She was attentive, so kind, and very helpful throughout our time there! Amazing experience!

Ive read somewhere once that this place has gotten too touristy... but boy, did I have a good experience. This is one of the few pubs in BC Ive been to that actually feels like a traditional Irish pub that youd find in, say, Dublin. The pints of Guinness were sometimes poured somewhat inconsistently, but had been decent enough. Happy hour deals were great and the oysters were fresh as well. I would recommend this place despite being labeled as a touristy spot.

I happened to visit the Irish Times after 8:00 p.m. in the evening. They had a live band called The Tumbling Dice. They were a great man Ive seen them other places also. The food was your typical regular Pub style food which was good. The service was spot-on amazing for such a busy night. It was an enjoyable evening but I must say the dance floor is a little small. I definitely would like to go back again sometime during the day for a meal. Great job to the staff that work at the Irish Times Pub. I will be frequenting.

See update below- managers response is a lie. - dine elsewhere if you are visiting off a cruise. Horrible service from our waitress Tami. Like legit worst service ever. Sat without drinks or a simple hello for 15 minutes. Tami had no interest in serving us. When we got drinks, naturally, we drank them fairly quick because it was hot outside where we were sitting. Tami walked by at least 4 times, looked at the empty glasses and went on about her business. Once we asked her for refills and she finally brought them, she left all the empty glasses and empty appetizer bowls on the table. There was nowhere to sit the food when someone else brought the food out. We had to move the empty dishes to a table beside us. This would be understandable if they were super busy. They were not. Thanks for the experience in Canada, Tami! We should have went to the pub across the street. Super rude!!! I rarely leave 1 star reviews but Tami earned this one for this business. UPDATE - Totally inaccurate response from the business owner / manager, but I would expect nothing less from your business. We were outside on a patio and my guest, was told to stop vaping one time, which he did.He made a mistake, vaped in an incorrect spot . Literally one puff. My guest vaping one time does not excuse your staffs behavior. Worst waitress that I have ever had. Get your facts correct before you respond to a review. Again, the 1 star review stands should be a ZERO If you have a problem with someone . Ask them to leave don t give them trash service and treat them as rudely as you see fit.

Hi. Ill tell you about my experience in this pub. We came there 7 people and had a good time, ordered drinks and food, of course we danced. When my friend went to the toilet after dancing, the waiter called him and asked him to go with her and brought him to the security who immediately very aggressively took him out into the street and said that he was too drunk. In fact, he was not so drunk that he should be taken out into the street. My friend did not act up and did not swear at anyone. We all went out to our friend after paying the bill. When we were standing on the street, these security guards took out a woman whom we do not know, but I saw her on the dance floor with her boyfriend. She danced normally and behaved adequately in the establishment. The security did not let her go in and take her jacket, she was very cold and her boyfriend said that he would bring her a jacket. but when her boyfriend brought her a jacket, the security guards started pushing him very aggressively and he fell to the ground, he stood up and started asking why they were acting like that, but the security guards continued pushing him hard. I think it was too cruel and wrong on the part of the security guards. This is a pub, an alcohol place, with a dance floor, everyone drinks there, but that day the security guards were inadequate and aggressive towards customers who were spending hundreds of dollars. The guy who was being pushed by the security guards said thank you for the video you made. The person who was being pushed did not show any aggression towards the security guards, but the security guards were wrong, they physically assaulted a person on the street near the pub on the street.

A nice bar with great live music, delicious foods, good drinks and an absolutely electrifying environment to watch sports games, particularly soccer. As a Liverpool supporter since 2010 I have had many good memories watching Liverpool games in this place, particularly when they won the 2019 Champions League. The bar was packed with mostly passionate Liverpool supporters belting out chants and tunes, and it was an amazing atmosphere.

Very good food, fast service and pleasant staff.

It felt like being in an authentic Irish pub. The staff was friendly and informative about the area, and enjoyed chatting with us. Food was delicious and came out very quickly. Recommend for a quick pint or a dinner.

We stopped by during our sight seeing from our cruise and its a very nice pub! My wife has visited Ireland and she loved this place too! We had a group of 14 and they accommodated us and got us tsbles in 10 mins! Beers were great and the poutine was super good! Bacon and blue was a little salty but goooood! Pulled Pork had a sweet taste that went well with the frys! Fish and chips were fantastic, heavy meal but recommend highly! And idk if its Canadas water or higher syrup in the sprite but the sprite was very good!! Would recommend this place to anyone!

The Irish times is in a beautiful historic building in Victoria , love the atmosphere, the food is good and portion sizes are huge , thier nachos are good for a large group of people , they got live music check out thier website calendar . The service is good . The pub location is in a central location in downtown Victoria very close by to the hotels etc , public parking /transportation around nearby , got tvs to watch the sports games etc , I added menu Pictures in the post , its got inside and outside seating areas , this place is roomy for large gatherings too lots of space ,staff friendly, its two levels of seating areas inside , its got healthy menu options too .

My girlfriend was feeling unwell due to cramps and they told us to leave just because the liquor inspector would have thought they are intoxicated but they makes no sense . So ya the most stupid pub ever. Never ever coming here to this trash place

One of the best Irish pubs Ive been to in Canada in terms of atmosphere, authenticity and Guinness.

I had some time left so I stopped by for a bit and I was full so I ordered a small beer. The server was friendly. There are many types of beer I think the atmosphere is nice and the store is clean~ I want to try the menu next time. I recommend it

Had lunch on Saturday Aug 31/24 and waited for a long time to get our food, plus all the servers, not only ours, looked annoyed and tired.

Decent food and service but very slow and we spent most of the time on our cruise port waiting for our food. That was disappointing. We were recommended this place by a local.

It is a very good location in the heart of Government street, live music and a good atmosphere, It has some good wings here and the staff is very friendly, a lot of cruise ship crew and passenger visits as well which makes it even livelier in the evening.

Decent pub fare but with pretty terrible service given the price and service charge. If youre not a local expect nothing but contempt.

We spent a little under 6 hours in British Columbia, We had no plans and no idea what the town had to offer. We stumbled across this pub and had the night of our lives!! Service 10/10 Band 10/10 Drinks&Food 10/10!!! It was such a short and sweet stop but definitely one of my favorite nights on vacation!! Much love from Florida!!

Food was ok. Traditional bangers and mash, with MUSTARD, first time ive ever seen MUSTARD with bangers and mash. Definitely wasnt a big fan of that. A lot of fruit flies while eating also. One big thing that a lot of places does, when one person is finished eating, can you please leave the plate there till the other person is also finished, its like ye have no other dishes in the kitchen besides grabbing it from under our fork on the last bite.

Really great atmosphere, good service, decent food and drinks. Slightly too loud for my tastes, but the aesthetics make up for it and then some.

We cruised in for a 4 hour port and hustled to Irish Times Pub for some local beer and poutine. Our server was a treat and the music was 90s hits. Poutine was spot on what we expected! Thanks for having us.

Service was great, staff was friendly and helpful suggesting places of interest in Victoria. We ordered turkey pot pie and fish and chips. Pot pie crust was light, flacky, moist, and tasty. The fish and chips were also tasty. There is live music at 9 but we were unable to stay for band. I would definitely recommend this place.

Second time being here visiting Victoria and comments are the same on both times visiting. Service is very slow! Like very slow.. Oh and the waitress uniform are short Scottish kilts.. nothing to do with Ireland lol other than that atmosphere and music is great though, the Sax player is INSANE!!!! Pure Talent.

This location was lovely. Our waiter had an Irish accent, which made our meal feel like a beautiful and authentic experience. This pub made me feel like I was back in Limerick Ireland, and the dishes didnt disappoint. The fish was absolutely beautiful with a lovely dill batter.

Solid Irish pub but the music is so loud I couldnt chat with anyone and even the server couldnt hear us. Absolutely ruined the experience. Service was also very slow. Unfortunate since the beer list is great and decor on point for an Irish pub.

Fancy place. Nice Irish music. We ordered Irish coffee, Murphy s Irish stout, Smithwick s Red ale, Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale. Irish coffee was nice but I d like more whiskey in it. They where out of Murphy s Irish Stout. Smithwick s Red Ale was ale but not red ale. Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale was like a stout. As you see in the picture both beers have the same color.

Serious review. I wanted to try Murphy s Irish Stout, but they were out of it. I then ordered Kilkenny Cream Ale, having tried it several times before at Irish pubs. I was brought something else. For those who don t know, Kilkenny Cream Ale is a Guinness company product, it looks like the Guinness stout, non-transparent and with a brown colour. I was brought what is depicted on the photo, a transparent golden beer. It looked and tasted like a lager, nothing like the cream ale I ve had before. I asked the server for a replacement, they brought me the very same beer, claiming they mixed up the barrels. This is highly disrespectful.

Just had the masala poutine, it looked really good but then when I had it the sauce tasted like store-bought poured out of a can and the cheese curds tasted like string cheese. Atmosphere is great, drinks are great just was pretty disappointed with the poutine as I had been two years ago.

Convenient location. Unfortunately, the priority in the ambience for tourists exceeded the quality of drinks. The Irish coffee was not given enough whiskey (compared to Irish pubs in European capitals). My companions were also dissatisfied with the quality of the beer.

Typical pub atmosphere. Staff were friendly and food was good. Not sure about gluten free options so make sure to check before going. There are stairs to get in and to get to the bathrooms. Wheelchair accessibility: There are stairs to get into the restaurant as well as to get to the bathrooms.

I happened to overhear from a passing tour guide that the Irish Times Pub was once a bank, which would explain the grandeur of its exterior and interior. But what he failed to mention is that their service, food and drinks are similarly lavish, extravagant, and worth investing your money in. I truly struggled with the dilemma of ordering either the shepherds pie, or the bangers and mash, eventually choosing to go with the former, as it is one of my all-time favorite dishes, and based on how fantastic it was, I know would not have been disappointed in the latter, either. A thick, warm, fluffy layer of mashed potatoes over seasoned beef and veggies, with a thick crust of melted cheese on top; its like a creme brulée for people with savory, sanguine palates, or who hate sugar (like me)! Couple that with an Irish Old Fashioned, and you have made me one happy boy! For a few moments, I was able to forget the impending sorrow of having to leave Victoria on the ferry in a few hours. My wife, who had enjoyed a larger brunch than mine, supped on a cup of their fantastic crab bisque: a surprising find on the menu of an Irish pub, in our opinion, but well-received - it had a savory twang to it I could not identify, but gave it a unique quality that we appreciated, and will not soon forget. I didnt get the best look around the interior, as it was nearly full, and we had a stroller with us, so outside seating was our only option. That said, service was prompt, friendly and efficient, and everything arrived sooner that we expected it to, even out on the patio. Every aspect of our visit was top notch, proving that its not just the luck of the Irish that makes this pub a world-class establishment, and a four-leaf clover in Victorias hat! Sláinte!

Excellent food. Really cool old building (though lots of stairs). Service was kind of slow, but it was really busy.

Terrible experience at this restaurant, disrespectful staff. We arrived for breakfast, and the staff gave us rude, condescending looks. They refused to let us in, assuming we were underage without asking for our ages (I m 25, my partner is 27, and my sister is 17). When they finally said we could eat, they rudely directed us to a back corner, saying it was because we were minors (she assumed I was a minor too), even though there were families with young children inside and in the window, this makes me feel discriminated. The staffs behavior was incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional, treating us with a dismissive and superior attitude. Feeling unwelcome and insulted, we left. I do not recommend this place...

We ALWAYS come here when were in town and it NEVER disappoints. We first came 7 years ago for our honeymoon and make frequent trips back to enjoy Victoria and specifically this pub. After having been to Ireland this past year, it is truly authentic and transports us back from the food to the atmosphere. I always enjoy the Mac & cheese, but this past time also did the stew with soda bread. My husband had a Guinness and I enjoyed an old fashioned. We enjoyed the beautiful day on the patio with the pup . Well see ya next time!!

Great pit stop in an authentic styled Irish pub. Local brews as well as drinks from Ireland. The club sandwich was filling and the half portion Caesar Salad with chicken was more than enough for lunch! The loaded potato skins were so good! Kid-friendliness: Kids menu

We ate here last year and couldnt wait to get back this year. LOVE the historic building and decor. LOVE the outdoor seating area. LOVE the fish and chips. It was an overall spectacular experience and already looking forward to our next visit to Victoria!

Great place to stop for a quick bite.

Great bustling Irish pub in Victoria. Loved the local beer selection, welsh rarebit, and bangers and mash. My dinner guests enjoyed the blue cheese burger. Docking one star for the volume level of the live band, we could hardly talk to each other!

We had a great experience yesterday at the pub. The staff went over and above in helpfulness when I arrived at the pub with friends and couldn t find my husband. Since we re from Washington State our phones weren t working and one of the kind staff offered to call my husband. We connected and when he arrived she brought him to our table. Our waiter was also not only very kind and friendly but checked on us numerous times. The pub is very quaint and we all enjoyed our beers and the atmosphere. Thank you to all the staff who helped and waited on us yesterday.

Quality is top notch. Food is delicious, portions are a little small for my taste but good. If you plan to get drunk and full, expect to spend a few bucks. Totally recommended. Keylan was so kind and friendly thank you for your hospitality.

Sat at the table for 15 minutes with no service. Server helped the table next to mine three times in those 15 minutes but never stopped to take my order.

We needed gluten free and we were very happy to know that they have a dedicated gluten free menu and they use a dedicated gluten free fryer for their food. It can be really hard to find a lot of places like this, but this is by far my favourite place to eat in Victoria! I really want to thank everyone there who made it very easy to find safe food for us. Dietary restrictions: They will accommodate you if you need gluten free with their own fryer and menu. Fantastic options.

Edit: Updating the rating to 5 after having the full Irish breakfast. Not sure if gourmet breakfast is a thing, but if it were, this is the place serving it! Every component on the dish was spot on. It was my first time having black pudding and Im in awe! What made it stand out was the cilantro/green onion garnish on the hash browns giving off fine dining vibes :D For the irish coffee Id say 10/10. However, the bangers and mash as main was rather average. I dont see what the rave is all about reading the reviews. Overall an ok experience.

Fairly good food, server was nice but infrequent. Pros: Oysters were absolutely phenomenal! Chopped Shrimp salad was delicious. Cons: Poutine could definitely have more cheese curds. Caesar salad was a little soggy. Crab bisque lacked flavor.

Real Irish experience in Victoria

Want an authentic pub feel. This place is pretty close with good food and service.

I really enjoyed this place, it was my first stop on my trip to Victoria and it really didnt let me down.

The building, originally built in 1895 as a former bank, is an interesting and storied space. The food and drinks are only surpassed by the service. Make sure you upgrade your burger with poutine; its delicious!

This is an amazing and authentic Irish Pub with live music playing everyday. We had a Celtic band playing when we were there, which added to the authenticity. The food was amazing. I had the Cajun Sockeye Salmon Burger and Fries with a perfectly poured Guinness. I recommend this to anyone visiting Victoria BC and would definitely go back the next time we visit Vancouver Island.

We come to this bar every time in town and this visit feeling disappointed. Food was ok, had the seafood tower. The shrimp where fresh and big, smoked salmon yummy, the mussels and crab legs so so. Tuna was the best part. My cocktail the Empress 75 which Ive had all over town this weekend too sour.

This was the first place we ate when we visited Victoria back in April. The food was delicious, and yummy drinks! Service was great and great atmosphere too! I had the fish and chips and also had famous Barbs fish and chips the next day at Fishermans wharf and I can honestly say they were both just as good as the other!! Food

It s a typical pub which is nice. I never been to one before. I didn t really like it as much but it was good. The spicy chicken sandwich was SO spicy. My dad loved the place and so did my mom. Definitely recommend the poutine, it was really good. The waiters and waitresses were very nice. It was a really great atmosphere. Definitely recommend to people who would love to be at a pub if you are visiting Victoria.

The four are for the eye candy Short skirts, long quilted dudes with muscles. Barflies during happy hours They certainly felt appreciated when they knew their names. I was craving a soup made by someone else, so, I asked the quilted & cutie dude. He recommended the Bisque. I cant complain. They brew it with good shells. It was delicious I guess the only thing I would like to troll back, were the comments of the only non-good-looking crew member, dressed in black, and filled with impotence... Balding too. A toxic dude. I wonder if he promotes a healthy job environment.

Hot food! We had breakfast there. Even the toast was hot! A lot of places serve luke warm food, so it was good to get food that was straight from the pan to the plate to the table. Nice server, overall pleasantly surprised.

A group of 5 of us had a fun time having drinks at Irish Times Pub on a Wednesday late night. A live band was playing 80s hits and the place has an authentic Irish vibe. Chill atmosphere. Our server, Taylor, was phenomenal. She was very attentive and on it. We re visitors in Victoria and she wrote out a lot of great recommendations for us even though she was busy. We did not try any food. We d go back just for Taylor!

Went in to grab some drinks while in port with a cruise. Band was fantastic. Pretty crowded but our server was still great. We didn t get any food but the drinks were outstanding. Loved this place.

I cannot comment on food as none was order but I can say that drink menu was broken down in categories with a good selection of cocktails, wines, whiskeys etc. The atmosphere was cozy with European feel. If I were local I would probably visit often as the food menu was varied and wait staff very attentive. When in Victoria, stop in for a visit!

Classic poutine was all we shared. Tasted exactly as I would expect and was delicious. Shared some drinks and had a good time. Had a singer on stage and the vibes were good.

Julia gave me the best service I have ever had. She did 100 pushups and 500 jumping jacks. And still served out food in a speedy time. She made me feel like I was the only one in the world. I love her.

Top top top! Came to Victoria for the first time and instead visiting something Canadian, I ended up in Irish pub ha ha ha. I didn t make mistake, overall impression 5/5. Waitress, I forgot her name, she had a lot of tattoos, very sympathic, super nice and helpful. Customer service from her was amazing. We ordered purple gin (forgot the name), poutin and truffle spread. Was very delicious. I had to run back to the cruise ship so couldn t stay longer but being a crew member, I will visit Victoria every week. Worth coming back!

This is a must stop for trad Irish Craik. Always lots of fun with a phenomenal aray on tap. Great interior!
