Med Grill Royal Oak in Victoria

Delicious food and drinks. Quite busy during dinner hours on a Saturday and would recommend making a reservation. Was impressed with the service; the staff looked like they are well managed and organized for a busy dinner service.

Saturday night, dinner reso for 7:30 pm. Very nice causal atmosphere. We shared the lemon pepper calamari, which was very tasty. We preferred the cucumber tzatziki dipping sauce over the other. For our entrée we both had the cranberry brie stuffed chicken. It was excellent. The whipped potatoes had the right amount of garlic. Finished our experience with the tiramisu and sticky toffee pudding. It was a very nice way to bring the dining experience to a finality. Service was fantastic. My only disappointment was the absence of the risotto on the menu. Overall, 5 stars all the way!

Our waitress just completely ignored us as we waited 15 minutes for her service. Although, my daughter asked her that we were ready to order. We were very disappointed as our last visit was amazing.

Nice and open. Not noisy so we could talk. All the dishes we ordered were tasty. Felt the pricing was fair for the portions and quality we got. The fries I got were really good. Lovely crispy. Food came really fast too! Dietary restrictions: They have GF options, but the kitchen is not GF. You can order GF bread/buns for your meal for $3 more.

I rode my bike to Med Grill yesterday to meet a friend. The food and service were top notch and we had a great time. The reason for my low rating is the complete absence of bike parking. I was surprised to arrive by bike and discover that there were no bike racks in the parking lot or by the front entrance. I figured that I must be missing the racks, so I went in and asked the hostess where the racks are. She thought for a moment, said that she didnt know of any, and went out back to ask. After a few minutes, she returned and offered to put my bike on the back patio -- which she said wasnt very accessible, so was probably fairly safe. However, the way she phrased it indicated that I wouldnt be able to lock it up out there, probably because its only accessible through the kitchen or something. I ended up locking to a parking regulation sign near the front entrance, which isnt ideal but was safe enough. Hopefully management sees this and thinks up a way to get a bike rack installed. Because cyclists exist, and we come to patronize businesses, and I wont be back unless I can be assured that theres safe, accessible parking for my chosen means of transportation.

Very nice restaurant

We went to the Med Grill for our anniversary. The host welcomed us and wished us Happy Anniversary as did our server. The Tuscan Table, 3 course meal and the choices were all tempting. For the starter we chose the Cranberry Apple Quinoa Salad and Thai Curry Sweet Potato Coconut soup and a 3 dip Med Bread. All were delicious we wanted more but needed to leave room for the Main course. Both of us had the Bacon wrapped stuffed chicken with roasted garlic whipped potatoes and seasonal vegetables. What can I say ...Yum Yum Yum. That was a plate licker ! But of course we didnt...lol. We were very full but made room for the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. The Med Grill is impecably clean, white table cloths and a candle and small delicate flower vase on each table. Service was very good and she checked with us a few times during our meal. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Love the food here. It is consistently very good. The sticky pudding is a huge favourite. Parking: Parking can be full in the small lot beside the restaurant. Good idea to go a bit earlier to get a spot.

We visited Victoria and this was the closing afternoon before heading back to Vancouver. The food was excellent, the girl was always attentive to the table and how we felt. A warm and welcoming atmosphere. Recommended Thank you for such a nice experience.

I dined at Med Grill the first time this weekend and it was a very lovely dining experience. The location is has a unique design to it that sets it apart from other fine dining. Felt rustic and cozy while not cheapening the experience. Staff and service was great, waitress was attentive and friendly. The food was the highlight. I got ordered from the Tuscan table and was not disappointed. The serving sizes were perfect to enjoy, while not feeling bloated. The food itself was quite good, chicken was moist and seasoned well, vegetables cooked how I liked them, and the mashed potatoes were creamy. I thought the prices were fair for what you get at this calibre and would definitely would recommend to anyone who wants to dine somewhere for a special occasion.

As usual, the service and food were excellent, however, we could only converse by shouting at each other. The restaurant was ridiculously loud. Also, having driven through the parking lot three times, I was forced to park down at the shopping centre...and this was a Thursday night.

Calamari was not warm enough and suggest that you advise people the lettuce wrap is a put together appy.

I walked in, expecting an average dining experience. However, I was blown away by how delicious all the items were. I tried the seafood crepe and my partner tried the beef dip, and both were amazing. Other members of our party tried various items and all were equally tasty. Too bad they dont serve steak and some other options during lunch. I want to come back here every time I visit Victoria! You have made me a fan!

Is this the new world of restaurant dining ? 2 couples, 5:30 dinner reservation, we have not seen each other for a while, so enjoyed a glass of wine and catching up. We ordered dinner, one meal was a bit bland, and one of our group asked simply for some extra parmesan cheese for her meal. The server brought a Parmesan shaker you find on the table at Boston pizza, he was asked if they had fresh Parmesan , and we were told it was a $ 1.50 charge. This was to give the meal some flavor . The manager arrived with tiny plastic cap of Parmesan, and said we will give you this for free THIS TIME. Our bill for 4 of us was over $ 300.00. Finished our meal, and chatted over a second glass of wine, to have the manager come back to our table to say the next group has arrived, and we are going to need this table I m a very calm person, but this really made me say Wow

I eat here regularly and have never had a meal short of amazing! Talented chefs, made-from-scratch ingredients, wonderful servers, very reasonable prices, lovely ambiance and a nice patio in the summer.

I recently visited Med Grill in Royal Oak and had an extremely disappointing experience. My group and I were seated promptly, but then we were left unattended for over 10 minutes. Not a single server came to take our order or even offer us drinks. It s unacceptable to be ignored for such a long period of time, especially when the restaurant wasn t particularly busy. Unfortunately, we decided to leave and won t be returning. This experience has left a very negative impression on us.

Great service and food. Had the 3 course meal special and would recommend. I had the the tomato basil soup followed by the blackened chicken and finishing with the lemon curd yogurt desert. It was fantastic! My wife had the ahi tuna with the prawn scallop linguini and it also was good. Our server was attentive despite the place being busy. I had the non alcholoic belini and it was yummy. Definitely recommend reservations as it fills up! Will go again

In summary 4/5. 4/5 Very good attention from the reception and waitress, they made us have a very nice Fathers Day celebration. We started with a meat carpaccio, which was 3/5 good in flavor but a lot of arugula in proportion to the pieces of bread and meat. 4/5 The main course was mushroom soup with citrus salad with avocado, intense and balanced flavor. The children ordered a kids menu which was good, tasty and balanced. I would go again to try new flavors. recommended to visit, eat delicious food and have a pleasant time

Vegetarian options: Good selection of veg meals. I had the the Buddha Bowl which was recently effected by inflation and shrinkflation. There were hardly any veggies and I ordered noodles instead of rice and there were very few noodles, but by contrast my friends had the Peanut Pad Thai and it was bigger and better value in comparison. The food is still good as was the service.

We had a reservation, we were all excited to dine at the Med Grill. Heard good things. But our experience was not what we all anticipated. Very loud atmosphere. There was 5 guests at our table. We could not hear each other talk but could hear every conversation around us. Our tea & coffee was not refilled, 2 of guests burned their tongues on the Skillet meal. We were only told the pan was warm. The Eggs Benie had an odd taste. Not what he expected. The cost of each meal was expensive. We all had dined at another restaurant the week before. That one was cheaper & the food was amazing, Sorry but I cant say the same thing about the Med Grill.

Tasting menu is such a great deal! 39 per set. Good wine selection as well. Will be back!

Really enjoyed our meal and the service! The chef made a special effort to make our wings unique which we appreciated Short rib Cannelloni was great with the beef inside. Earl grey martini was tasty as well as the salted caramel bar. Nice atmosphere. Good place to go for a special occasion or date night. Best to reserve here tho. Even on a Monday night it was pretty busy!

This is a staple in the area. It has been here for years, but I cant recommend it. Felt a bit like the food from a retirement home. Our bill for a family of five was over $200 and the quality of the food was pretty substandard. The service was good and the drinks were fine but the kitchen seems to going for the lowest quality food options they can find. Its not overly expensive but given the quality of the food there are many other options in the area. That said its a very busy place and always full so perhaps your mileage may vary.

The staff was nice and very accommodating I really want thank then for helping find the best table to help make my mother comfortable. The food was good, definitely quite nice, but I wasnt overly interested by the menu - sort of a more modern Med-fusion than I was in the mood for. But do read the menu and, believe me, if you see what youre interested in, you will be impressed.

Today is Family day, and restaurant is very busy. I walk in at 4:50 with no reservation, and a lady Gabby(not sure the correct spelling) took my info for waiting list. And I just had bad experience with her. Wasting 20+ mins for meaningless waiting. I just wanna say the table was sitting by the people who was waiting for the take out

Been several times and have never been disappointed. Favourite dish is the beef ribs. They literally melt in your mouth. I highly recommend this dish! Last night my husband and I had a lovely waitress Sinead (I hope I remembered the spelling correctly). She was perfectly attentive. Not too much and not little. Place was busy and things appeared to be flowing smoothly. Note to owners: I recommend you give wait staff an opportunity to sample any and all dishes. First hand knowledge is valuable.

Went to enjoy dinner with relatives while visiting from out of town, so I thought the company would be the highlight of the meal. While it was, the food definitely didnt disappoint as well.

Disappointing. Appetizer calamari was skimpy and flaccid rather than crispy and flavourful. Large garden salad was passable with excessive dressing. Triple A striploin with peppercorn sauce was piled in a large bowl on top of fettuccine Alfredo and steamed broccoli and carrots rather than presented on a plate. Not very appetizing. Steak was good but not exceptional given the price. Very noisy atmosphere made conversation and relaxation difficult. There is an incessant annoying background bass beat and inaudible music which seems to hype the atmosphere unpleasantly. Setting and layout are lovely, airy, and Italian. Service friendly, gracious, and appropriate.

I work near this place, but never been until the other day.! Wow! Food was awesome, our waitress was super nice, too! Definitely going to stop by again :) Food : 3/5

The food was delicious, I enjoyed the Thai chicken salad, I do have to mention the mushroom soup was also enjoyed one of the better ones I have had. It was a busy lunch, and the room was full of chatter. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their food. My only complaint was I had to find a water jug to refill my water glass as the waitress was busy..

Friends who live in Saanich love MedGrill so we took them for dinner as a thank you for having us as houseguests. We were pleasantly surprised to find such a wonderful local bistro with great atmosphere, a friendly and welcoming staff and delicious options on the menu. The 2 men ordered from the price fixe menu and raved and us girls chose the flatbread and salad as a lighter meal. We were all very pleased. We had heard that it was a pretty noisy but, by reserving for 7pm, it got quieter and by 8pm closing, there wasn t a peep!! For sure we ll return before we leave town.

Hadn t order for a while and when we picked up our meal - the garden salad was skimpy!!! The dressing is still fabulous, but for $15 I expect more substance. The med bread was disappointing as well - what happened to the Asiago drizzle? We got the cream cheese in containers and it wasn t even spreadable. Very disappointing and won t be going back!

Had the prawn chorizo pasta special. Nice flavor, but the prawns were overdone and chewy at first. Server got them to fry up some fresh ones that were much better.

Food tasted great. Halibut chowder and Cobb salad. Satisfying lunch, served with bread. Tiramisu for dessert. Server removed my plate without asking and before others at the table had finished eating. Otherwise, a pleasant dining experience.

Atmosphere, server, hosts fine except we each had the Tuscany Table. Starters were good, but main courses below acceptable. Ribs were meh, the rockfish dry, chocolate dessert heavy and nothing special. Disappointing!

My first meal experience when traveling to Victoria was very good. I called to make a reservation that night and ordered three set meals. I tried different main dishes and desserts. All the food was very fresh and tasted very authentic. We have lived in Europe for more than ten years. The food here tastes very similar to restaurants in southern France. The service is warm and thoughtful, and the environment is very good. Highly recommended.

Had a 10/10 experience here while dining for my friends mini baby shower. The service was great and the food was AMAZING - I had the 3 course meal they were offering for $35 (so reasonable for what it was!) and every course was prepared and cooked to perfection. Our party stayed over an hour past closing time and the staff didn t rush us at all to leave. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very inviting too. All in all, one of the best dining experiences I ve had in Victoria in years.

Always enjoy ourselves here, this is a placeholder family frequents. The service is usually ok, it s always a full house here so staff seem to be in the weeds but the food is always on point. Any dish is going to be wonderful. I love sitting on the patio but I d suggest some wasp traps because you can guarantee you ll be visited by many once your food arrives. They have A LOT on their menu but seem to do a great job at executing each dish. Sometimes finding parking is a bit hectic because the lot is fairly small.

The Chicken Quesadilla was tasty so was creme brulee.

Oh dear! My first visit in over 3 years, and I must say that it wasn t as good as I remember. In fact, we sent back our prawns wrapped in bacon as the bacon wasn t cooked enough. The calamari was good at first, however, the tomato concassé garnish made many of the pieces wet and chewy. The lettuce wrap was DELICIOUS! The service was excellent and the prices are moderate - good for the quality and presentation of most items. I won t return right away, but will definitely give them another chance.

I went to this restaurant a few times before and I was happy. But we wanted to go there in a group of 10 friends for a long time but we couldn t get the reservation. Finally we made it last Friday and we enjoyed our time there by good food and service. Totally recommended.

The waitstaff are accommodating. Service was timely. We ordered the smoked chicken Garganelli and the bacon cheddar burger with a side of there house salad and fries. I am impressed with the taste and complexity of there fries. I was however not overly impressed by the burger. The pasta was a solid choice. Atmosphere was nice.

I will first start off by saying that the meals were delicious. However, we had a bit of an issue with the delivery of our meals that bummed us out. My husband and I ordered entrees that listed roasted garlic mashed potatoes as an accompaniment (our favourite), but the waitress politely stated that the mashed potatoes werent available till later in the evening and roasted potatoes were the only side available for our plate. No worries. Completely understandable. I myself asked for a side of aioli to dip them into to please me, but my husband chose a different dish completely by getting the steak & pasta since his beloved mashed potatoes werent available. When our waitress delivered my meal saying, Surprise! We were able to give you mashed potatoes! I was very happy, but my husband was bummed out because he too wished to have received the same. The waitress offered a side plate of mashed potatoes to compensate for the missing desire he had on his, but to our disappointment, we were charged $5. She placed the aioli in front of me and charged us for it too, when clearly I didnt need it anymore after the sudden placement of mashed potatoes was presented in front of me. I also had to wave across the establishment to get the attention of our waitress for another refill of our cocktails. Judging by their amazing menu and solid reviews, we were expecting more from Med Grill this evening.

Came here today for my 12th wedding anniversary with my wife. I did the 3 course meal which is a great price and she had the brisket beef dip which she loved. I had the lamb appetizer which was over cooked and very hard to eat even but with the butter knife they give you then followed by a Cannelloni pasta which taste amazing but the noodles were not cooked fully and still crunchy in the middle. The service from our surgery at first was great and then she was gone we sat at our table with out drinks for just over 20 min before some one else came by and when I mentioned my issues the server got snooty with me and my wife. Which at this point did not make for a great time here. When my pasta finally came back out the second time it was better than it was before minus being cold in the middle a bit. Now for the Apple Crumble Pie it was amazing melt in your mouth goodness. But not sure if its suppose to be served hot or cold but it was still good cold. The place is very romantic and has a great vibe. Sorry for the 2 star rating but Im being honest. If things did not get messed up and the server was more tentative I would have given more.

I just tried to make a reservation here for 11 people 10 days in advance for a Friday. In previous reviews for Med Grill, it states that they accommodate large groups on weekends. I was laughed at on the phone by a manager when I made the request and told well that s too bad for you. I was completely unaware that it wasn t allowed as a family member of mine has had a large reservation of 12 people there in the past. I was then told that they only accommodate groups as large as 6 in resos and hung up on. I understand putting limits on numbers for the sake of busyness and for your staff. Absolutely. Communicating this in a kind manner and offering other options is good customer service. I wouldn t go here simply because of being laughed at for a request I didn t know was as absurd as she communicated. In response, no other restaurant was suggested. And I was told no group bookings of our size are allowed at all, not that they were particularly full. Telling lies in your review response is unprofessional.

Stopped off by chance on the drive to Victoria, really friendly staff and the food was fantastic. Seafood pasta and salmon salad or party had were both brilliant. The non alcoholic cocktails were interesting and great too

I ve been here several times and the food has always been good but the service has always been rough. This last time I came, the restaurant was full/reservation only but there was no signage or indication of this. I waited for my turn to speak to the host, who continued to speak to everyone else but me for a very long time. When the host finally spoke to me, they did not inform me that the restaurant was reservation only and then when I asked for a table for 2 she spoke to me in such a condescending and rude manner as if I was just supposed to know. Good food is not worth the experience.

The food and service were great. I found the dinning area to have confortable sitting, however the atmosphere was annoyingly noisy.

First off, Lyndsey our server was great.. its a refreshing experience these days to have service from someone attentive, professional and friendly. It was a date night with my husband, first time here and we really enjoyed the set 3 course meal. Coffee and wine is good too. I was happy to swap one of the set desserts for a tiramisu for a few extra $, delicious. Will be back..thank you.

The foot was excellent. I went with friends. Staff were friendly and nice atmosphere but noisy. Parking: Parking near the door is a few spaces and large parking lot behind restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Yes children were there. Wheelchair accessibility: At main door out front.

We always love the Tuscan Table menus and were privileged to try a free Amuse Bouche. Great service, lovely evening.

My favourite place to eat in Victoria. The Christmas decorations and the atmosphere is amazing. Always great service and food. My go to is the Caesar salad with blackened salmon. Incredible . Great with friends for a nice brunch or lunch but also a perfect choice for date night.

Very busy for much so recommend a reservation. Food is decent and service is good.
