Very small shop, 6ish tables,with delicious food. Had the asada and adobada street tacos, both were so good. Adobada was done if the best Ive ever had. Pazole (Saturday special) was also very good. Staff very friendly and with just the right amount of attentiveness. Would come here weekly if I lived in the area.

Yes, Its tiny - so tiny, with only a few tables and seats wedged up against each other. No, theres no table service - or rather, only limited table service, as you order at the counter and wait for your food to be brought to your seat, if you can find one. Yes, its crowded, because on top of all that its popular, so theres often a lineup at the counter and another of people trying to find a place to stand while waiting for a seat or for their take-out order. But, damn, the food is so good, and the young woman at the counter quietly beams while taking your order, and you somehow feel that even though youve never been to Mexico, perhaps this is what its really like in tiny, family-run restaurants there ...and somehow, at that point, the crowdedness and lineups and counter service all just seems to be part of the charm of the place. What a find. Wheelchair accessibility: Not a good space for wheelchairs

La Fogata never disappoints! My daughter and I love coming here, or Ill often stop by on the way home and get some delicious empanadas to go. The staff are always super friendly, the prices are relatively affordable (especially for a restaurant downtown), and the food is consistently tasty!

Everything was delicious, so authentic and well priced! We got the enchiladas verde and pork sopes and it was sooo yum. Don t skip on dessert the arroz con leche and churros were divine! Very good service as well.

I ve been to numerous Mexican restaurants since moving to vic and La Fogata has been my favourite one. I have yet to try a lot of their menu items but I ve always enjoyed the food whenever I visit. Definitely recommend this authentic restaurant!

This is just the kind of place that we need more of in Victoria. Its not fancy by any stretch but its *authentic*, you can just feel the effort that the owners have put into it. I was really hoping the food would match as I had a great feeling about it coming in. I was not disappointed! We had a burrito, enchiladas, salchipapas and sopes. I have to particularly call out the amazing sopes - the thick corn tortilla crusts were absolutely perfect. Very well made, and the balance of flavors was excellent. I cant wait to eat here again and wish the owners every success.

Recently discovered this restaurant. Loved the empanades with green sauce. Went back twice in one week! Delicious! Service starts with a small dish of house made tortilla chips with some special sauces. Very tastefully done. Funky Mexicana decor and speedy service makes the whole experience complete. Definitely recommend this modest and very tasty little restaurant!

Hidden gem!!! This super cute little Mexican restaurant has great decor and delicious authentic Mexican food. The tacos are simple, but well flavored. Salsas that come with them are yummy. I tried Sopes for the first time and they were delicious! Very well priced for downtown Victoria. Decor is cute, music is authentic and quiet allowing for conversation. Wheelchair accessibility: Limited seating may make WC accessibility more challenging but not impossible.

The service was amazing, the workers were very friendly, but the food was wonderful. Im not an expert, I even think that term is a little silly given the diversity of food within Mexico, but I can tell you the food is delicious, the vibes absolutely are authentic, and they have that real cane sugar Coca-Cola. Excellent food, if you are looking for a porquito from Mexico in Victoria, you will kill your craving; They have good flavor, several options to taste. I only add that the beans have a slight canned flavor, it would be a luxury if the place avoided using canned food. They have a variety of products such as snacks, drinks, and typical Mexican rolls. Desserts such as rice pudding, carlotas and choco flan. We will definitely return.

Ordered a beef taco, pork taco and horchata (recommended by an employee). I preferred the beef taco but both were well seasoned and made. Appreciated the 2 tortillas provided per taco so it was not as flimsy and easier to eat. Never had a horchata before but would get again, tasted like a Christmas morning due to the cinnamon in it? Would come back!

I was craving Mexican and thought I would try this place given all the fantastic reviews. Unfortunately my experience was disappointing. Everything I ordered was EXTREMELY dry. And my order included enchiladas- which are usually smothered in sauce. Even the lime they packed was dry. I couldn t squeeze a drop out and that s not an exaggeration. I could ve maybe overlooked all this if it was cheap but it s not. Given the massive portions at other Mexican and Mexican-fusion spots in town, the pricing here is not justified. If you want dry, overcooked beef or dry, bland enchiladas with child sized portions for full sized prices, don t make the same mistake as me and skip this one!

Got their $5 taco with marinated pork and it was amazing. Taco was nice and doughy, and the pork was so tasty. Definitely gonna come by when I visit Victoria again.

The place is small, just a few tables, so we recommend not to visit this place close to dinner time because you will need to wait for a table. Best Tacos in Victoria so far. A cosy little gem in the heart of Victoria. The food is excellent, and the staff is muy amable and wont laugh if you practice your bad español with them. My wife and I have been going in for an early dinner once a week since friends introduced us to it, and weve been slowly working our way through the menu. So far, weve had Flautas, Quesadillas, Arepas, Burritos and Enchiladas Verdes, and its really difficult to pick a favorite. Everything is absolutely delicious and, if we close our eyes for a moment during dinner, it feels like we are back in Guadalajara! If you enjoy authentic Mexican food youll love La Fogata.

Excellent authentic Mexican food, real street tacos. Amazing food and cute atmosphere - complimentary homemade tortilla chips, salsa and hot sauces, just like how they re served in Mexico. They import Mexican snacks too and you can buy tortillas and tamales to take home. We ordered the chicken tamale and birria taco with agua de Jamaica. Would love to come back and try the whole menu!!

The food is great, the prices are not expensive. Its just very small and hot. There are few Mexican restaurants with authentic flavor and la bonada is one of them.

I ordered the chicken enchiladas and my fiancée ordered the shrimp burrito. Both were outstanding (I pilfered a bite of hers)! Reasonable prices, decent service, and quality food.

First time here but heard great things about this location from others. I had the chicken fajitas quesadilla and my wife had a chicken enchilada verde. Both were excellent and the portions ample. We ll be coming back again.

The place is very comfortable, small room makes the feeling on being in a traditional fondita. The food is authentic with original mexican flavors. The service is very good. Other than that is a very good spot to try authentic Mexican food. There are better mexican food restaurants but this one wont disappoint you.

I really liked the tacos when I came in last time but I did not really enjoy the chicken empanadas. I m sure someone else may, personally I feel they struggle to make chicken taste good, even in tacos, the pork ones are far superior - but their portions are good. Not included in the pictures are free chips that they serve you while you wait for your meal - excellent service and they re delicious. All in all, I d visit here again, have the pork options.

My partner and I love and recommend this little restaurant! We have never been disappointed with their fresh and flavourful empanadas and arepas, and I love their patacones. The staff are helpful, friendly, and will recommend something tasty for you if you re not sure what to get. I am celiac and I appreciate their allergen knowledge and precautions. :)

I ordered empanadas and chicken tacoquitos. The tacoquitos were great. I thought the empanadas could be bigger for the price. The lady in the front who took my order was very friendly, I got to practice my Spanish ordering a bit. I wished the dishes were more greasy and the hot sauces were spicier. I understand they have to cater to the majority of clientelles in the area. Still overall 5/5. Will definitely visit again.
