Located in Victoria, BC, a block from the Inner Harbour, on Humboldt St. at Douglas, Bartholomew’s Public House, known by the locals as Bart’s, offers a lively atmosphere in a traditional pub setting. We are open daily from 11:30am with Happy Hour running from 3pm to 6pm every day (3pm to 11pm on Mondays) Our menu features tasty share plates, appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, pizzas, hearty mains and delicious desserts, plus a great selection of local craft beer, signature cocktails and the biggest selection of Gin & Tonic's in the city, if not the entire province.
The prices here are definitely on the higher side compared to other places. When we arrived, the waitress seated us at a high, somewhat uncomfortable table in the middle of the room, despite there being other available tables for two in quieter corners. We had to ask another staff member to move us to a different table. Overall, the vibe just didn’t feel right for me and my friend—it wasn’t the most welcoming or comfortable experience. Not sure if I’ll return.
This place was cozy and delightful. Service was great, we had the Sunday roast dinner that starts at 3pm for $30 and it was quite good. The roast was actually delicious and Yorkshire pudding was almost as good as the last roast I had in Manchester. We tried the 4 course and the salad was lovely but didn’t love the cheesecake. GREAT gin menu. We just missed happy hour sadly but overall surprisingly wonderful experience for a place that kind of looks touristy from the outside.
Lovely old fashioned English style pub ...in a older historic building that's attached to the Hilton hotel ..... its got lots of TV around for sports games, bar , seasonal outdoor seating areas , lots of indoor seating areas from booths to round tables and bar seats etc ....... lots of options for drinks and food ....I added menu Pictures in post....our server Mandy does awsome customer service and other staff awsome aswell .....the atmosphere here is very traditional English pub with the decor and even traditional English pub food too
I enjoyed dining at Bartholomew's Public House and can’t recommend it enough! The private patio is a hidden gem, offering a serene escape from the bustling city. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a meal with friends or a cozy date night. Whether you're in the mood for something hearty or a light bite, there’s a fantastic selection that caters to every palate. The drink menu is equally impressive, featuring craft cocktails and local brews. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring everything we needed for a delightful evening. Overall, Bartholomew's Public House is a must-visit. If you want a great dining experience with a lovely atmosphere, check it out!
Great selection of interesting draft beer - maybe 40 or more. 11$ beer flights. Fish and chips has a very interesting batter, but overall not that great- not much actual fish in it surprisingly.. Service was great and the outdoor patio is very nice, but this is a bar and restaurant in the first floor of the DoubleTree hotel so don't expect a quaint historic setting. Overall a better than average experience.
We stopped by Bartholomew’s Public House for a late dinner (830PM) and had a great experience. They have a large selection of drinks (beer, wine, cocktails) and a dedicated gin & tonic menu. The food menu was expansive and we enjoyed it all! Highlight was the Langos which is like a puff pastry garlic bread with dipping sauce. The house salad was fresh and adding salmon & avocado was great. Reasonable prices & open late. Highly recommend!
We came in for lunch and honestly, had a great time with delicious food and drinks! The server was super friendly and the drinks/food came out super quick. The serving sizes were huge, so just make sure to order accordingly, but the food was great. We would recommend the fish and chips or the tuna bowl. Would highly recommend you give it a try!
Always a great experience at Bart's, nicely varied food menu with tonnes of delicious options. Extensive tap list, massive variety of gin, beautifully curated cocktails. The staff are super lovely and very attentive.
We stayed at DoubleTree and dined here a couple times. Food was good and so were the drinks.
Lovely English style pub. Shout out to Bar Manager Noah (sp?) and Bartender John. Nice pints and solid food. Highly recommend the beef dip or Sunday evening roast plate special. Absolute gem of a local watering hole. Cheers !
Good service but not much atmosphere when I visited.
Young servers with horrible attitudes negate the others who are trying to do their best. Not a place that would be first on my list to go to in Victoria.
Completely exceeded expectations. Super nice atmosphere, awesome & kind people, a spirit & cocktail menu that features aquavit (a rare treat), and everything we ordered was delicious. The mushroom risotto and poutine in particular was incredible, and their brown gravy is magnificent - absolutely will be back.
Music bingo is super fun! Will defs do it again
Cute/awesome staff and great gluten free options!
Used to be a great spot before the pandemic... I was disappointed the few times I went there after, and last time, the waitress wasnt nice at all... Not going to spend money there anymore, Just a tourist spot now...
Always enjoy going here
Enjoyed a good pub meal in a friendly neighborhood pub. If you are looking for good meal that is reasonably priced, try it out.
Service is excellent! The food tonight was fantastic. The Atmosphere was relaxed. Always enjoy coming here.
The food was pricey. They charged us for a grilled chicken breast, mashed potatoes, and veggies (chicken was custom) $26. There wasnt a lot on the plate compared to the other dish that was the same price and there was a lot more food.
Beer poor, even by North American standards.
Had so much fun at trivia!
2 bartenders on with just 2 people at the bar and yet they made sure not make any eye contact for 5 minutes while complaining about coworkers and management. Time to clean house
Food was meh...not terrible not fantastic I would say slightly below average. Service was pretty mid also. Asked to turn channel from wnba to NFL of any game on a sunday and it never happened. Overall pretty forgettable place, good location though.
Our first night in Victoria we went with other family members to Bartholomews and had a really good time just relaxing and enjoying the Pubs atmosphere. The beer drinkers had lots of good brews to choose from, and the food menu made all of us happy with our choices. The service was excellent, our food came out promptly and our server was very friendly and attentive. Barts was a perfect first stop and introduction to Victoria. Vegetarian options: Always appreciate it when businesses have this option.
Great food and fun music bingo!
Great for dinner or bar bites
A little taste of England in a classic pub. Kate provided great service as we enjoyed some salads and toad in the hole. Unfortunately did not have room for sticky toffee pudding which sounded delicious.
Nice pub. Very bright and airy at 6pm in August. Quiet no loud music much appreciated by us old ones.
4 of us ordered the Sunday roast beef dinner. we all agree the beef roast was super tough and chewy. the Yorkshire pudding was way sad. when in doubt, order a burger. wont partake of this eatery again for food. Maddie our server was however very accommodating!
Excellent salmon burger and tomato bisque
Gluten free fish and chips !
Great English pub food and cocktails. The service is very good and we enjoyed the outside patio multiple times during our stay in Victoria. I think we ended up trying all of the appetizer dishes and didnt find one we didnt like. One star deduction for mice running around the patio which was concerning to some of our group.
We always seem to end up here. Great Food and drink list
Had a great experience for dinner with our family while visiting Victoria. The food was delicious.
Nice atmosphere great food.
Great English pub
Either the management/owners treat their people terribly, or the staff on a moderately busy Monday evening at 6pm is naturally surly. Whatever the reason, everyone had a chip on their shoulder, distraction in their eyes, and not an ounce of friendliness. Ugh.
Amazing place great feel of an English pub inside Victoria. Watched the Euro finals there and it was a great experience with the lads.
Had a great time at the pub!! Bingo night was enjoyable with a dance off and fun music, that the bar was singing along to. Food was great with the fish and chips tasting like they do it over in Ireland straight up. Yorkshire Pudding was a hardy meal and very tasty, recommend the horsey sauce with it. The gin and tonic list is full of all sorts and can make your own and should try
A decade ago barts was my go to bar. I had some great times and met some life long friends. So when I returned to Victoria it was one of the places I wanted to revisit. It was a Sunday night, when we arrived there is a sign that says please wait to be seated. Even though the bar was not busy it took almost 10 min for someone to notice us. We were seated at a table, and then we waited for service. We were there for at least 15 min before a server took notice of us trying to get her attention. We were planning to eat but did not because of service. We had 1 drink and left. The atmosphere does not have that pub vibe anymore, it is more like a restaurant. No more meeting new people. It is sad to say but I will not go back. I have my memories
Englishtype pub but so dark inside. We arrived at a half empty place yet were seated at a small table just by the door. The drinks were good. We ordered pizza and salad. Pizza looked like a warmed up one from a supermarket rather than anything made on the premises. Overall, it was ok.
Great comfort food. Quicky made too. Service was decent too.
I love coming here every Thursday cause the Music Bingo was so fun!
Great beer selection, food is good!
We tried the beef dip and sat on the patio and it was incredible! So tasty, quick service, and the fries were delicious. Best beef dip weve had :)
Excellent food! Plenty of gluten free options. Dietary restrictions: Plenty of delicious gluten free options. Wheelchair accessibility: Very accommodating. Removed a chair for me to wheel under the table. They have an accessible restroom.
The chicken sandwich was awesome, great service as well
Was it overpriced? Absolutely. Would we come back? Probably. The food and service was very good but charging $9 for two cokes is robbery, I dont care what year we are in. We had the Bangers and Mash, the Beef Dip and two cokes. $65 before tip. We found it more expensive than most restaurants downtown Vancouver serving the same pub fare. The beef dip was very, very good but not $22 good.
Been hanging here for 25 years. Nothing changes... which is a good thing. If it aint broke, dont fix it
One of my new favorite places to go
Its a good looking pub with a good drink and food menu. Nice stop off or place enjoy a few beers with your mates.
Great social place friends meeting friends. Great neighborhood pub vibe.
Overpriced nachos that were microwaved chips with cheese sauce and terrible chicken. When I asked how big the large nacho was, the server had no idea! Really? Won t return!
We tend to meet at this pub after work about twice a month; a little more when the weather is cold or rainy. They have an excellent happy hour menu, The atmosphere is cozy and warm, with a touch of Old English charm. The service is fast, friendly, and attentive, without being bothersome. Food is good for traditional English pub fare.
Becoming my favorite pub in the city
Loved this pub. Irish folk group playing music for 3 hrs. Enjoyed happy hour wines and appies, would come back again
I always force my friends to go to Bart s when we want to chat over drinks! Servers are so wonderful and well informed, often taking the time to chat with our group about the new beers on tap etc. Trivia and music bingo nights are fun too. Lots of nice corner booths if you d prefer a quieter atmosphere. Only negative is the food and cocktails can be pricey but it s nothing extreme for a Victoria pub.
Stellar fish and chips and now Wednesday Irish music night Food
Really great pub downtown Victoria. The food and drinks were on point, service was good, and the atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. Great place to go on a date or hang out with friends .
We stopped in for the Chiefs game because of the menu had so many GF options we had calamari and fish and chips, no pictures sorry. The staff was great and the atmosphere lovely. Good times.
Lovely staff. Food is good enough. Not quite the community vibe youd want from a pub. The bartender is very sweet and has a cute dog though.
I love heading to Bartholomews for happy hour or a late night stop. Great cocktails, applies and service.
Nice pub, excellent service, and friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Food was good and met expectations.
Classic pub vibes, great happy hour specials, and no nonsense style of service. I would definitely recommend coming for happy hour and having some cheap drinks and quick apps.
We had a large group who were arriving at different times. The service staff were fantastic in securing us a cozy large table we could use as we waited for the others. Everyone was friendly, helpful and patient with our multi-generational group. Awesome, fun atmosphere. Fries were hot, crispy and yummy. The salmon burger is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!
We had a great visit here! We came in on a Friday night and though they were pretty busy we were seated quickly. The service was excellent and the food very good! We got an order of their gluten free fish n chips, which were really good, and an order of their crispy ribs, which were amazing! All washed down with some Guinness, ciders and a Lady Diana for good measure. Our waitress was super friendly and very attentive. We ll definitely return! Dietary restrictions: Good gluten free selection!
Take out
Service is always excellent, food is good.
Great gin selection, awesome happy hour. Unfortunately food was lacking. The server raved about the coconut curry rice bowl, but when it came out, the rice was severely undercooked and was crunchy. I just ate the veggies that were on top, which tasted fine. No one checked in on me so I wasn t able to bring it up until an hour later when the plate was collected. Ordered the sticky toffee pudding, ice cream was half melted when it came out. They charged me for the rice bowl, but maybe the person who collected it (not my server) didn t tell anyone. It is what it is.
Amazing Sunday Roast! My first in Canada! Very good, the Yorkshire puddings were delicious. And the sticky toffee pudding! Fa-bu-lous. Maddie our waitress was amazing too! Thanks for this great moment!!
We went on a Monday night, it was delicious. Both main meal and dessert. Not loud, not busy, an old rustic place with great food. The waitress was on the ball and ensured we always had a full drink. Would definitely recommend this place.
Perfect pint of Guinness!
Good food and service. I usually go for trivia nights on Tuesdays.
Best pub in Victoria! The food is really amazing, and the staff are always kind, patient, and go out of their way to make sure that you have a good time. Everyone is friendly and their food and drinks are fine dining quality while having a relaxing pub atmosphere.
House Ceasar with Tequila!
Very slow service on a Saturday at lunchtime. Food was cold when it got to us and was medicore quality.
There are 5 words that everyone in the service industry would benefit from knowing. Tonight I went to Bart s. When I arrived I noticed the sign that says Please wait to be seated. The hostess was chatting with someone and didn t acknowledge me, and from where I was standing I could see that the bar was nearly empty, so I helped myself to a chair at the bar. The bartender was filling water jugs at his sink. He looked at me in a derogatory way, continued filling the water jugs, looked at me in a derogatory way again, then came over asked Can I help you. I said I d like a menu and a beer, please. He said, The sign says you re supposed to wait, but fine I ll go grab a menu . Like it was big pain for him that I was there. Just, attitude. I left and went a half block up the street to another popular restaurant. Within 90 seconds of being there I was warmly greeted, seated, had a menu in front of me, and a drink. What a difference. I m going to spend my money somewhere else while I m at the adjacent hotel for the next 3 months. The 5 words that everyone in the service industry needs to know is, I ll be right with you . The bartender - and this establishment - would benefit from adding those words to the vocab.
The atmosphere is good but the food should be better.
Good Caesars
We had happy hour dried ribs which were good. Also ordered and split between 2 of us the Toad in a Hole which was lots, so was hard to do justice to the poutine, again great portion size and tasty! We will be back!
I found the service very good and quick but you should be aware of 2 things: A hot water with Lemon there is a charge of $4.25 at Bartholomews whilst in other pubs/restaurants it s free. Another they add tips in your bill .. 20% which I thought should be mention in advance for both issues!
Nice place for a drink. Old pub look and style.
A great pub in Victoria
Staff were friendly and helpful, decor and atmosphere was good. Too crowded, nd maybe just not my scene.
The black and blue burger was delicious; juicy substantial patty, caramelized onions, and the right amount of blue cheese. Perfect fries! Beer selection was great, and service by Kenzie kindly appreciated. Thx!
The food here is good pub fare and there is a good selection of local craft beers. They now are open for lunch as well as of (September 28, 2022). The acoustics make it difficult for conversation especially later in the day when the place is full. There are lots of low tables for wheelchair seating. There is an accessible washroom (single room) with a support bar. However the toilet is mounted very low and may be difficult for some.
What a great place to grab a beer, watch some sports and eat some good grub. The waitress were friendly even though they looked incredibly but they didn t miss a chance to check on you. I really like the happy hour menu. Got to go check it out for yourself!
Yup!
What a great little spot in Victoria. A true olde English pub feel with some of the best chicken wings in town. All the food was very food. Incredible gin selection too.
Nice place to go and have a nice time.
Fun and friendly
My new pub for Friday nights !!
Fish and chips...sooooo greasy. Could not finish. Service was so-so. Not a 2nd visit for me
A pleasant breakfast in a cozy and quiet place with a great location and friendly and unobtrusive service.
The waiter used what professional servers call the Hep C grab this means he picked up used glasses by touching the rim. allowing saliva from the glass onto his hands and then did deliver new drinks while also touching the rim of the new beer glasses without washing, This is a great technique for transferring hep, herpes Covid diseases. Bad times.
Our fav yum yum spot DT when hunger strikes, and want to beet long wait times at the urban chic drab fab upitty name brand joints. A real classic Victorian establishment.
Really enjoyed the classic British pub experience.
Old English pub and gaining ground in the cocktail world. Impressive 3 page gin list, with some unique and hard-to-find gins. Some of the bartenders are knowledgeable and want to nerd out about gins/cocktails, which is fantastic. They were attentive and service was good. As a young woman sitting in a bar by myself, I felt safe in this bar and had a great time.
Went by there for a first date. Friendly staff and always open to chat. Good drinks and good food. I highly recommend this place. I have been here many times and it never fails to disappoint. They have fun packed evenings and a great happy hour selection. If youre in town, this is a great place to go. It is also right downtown within walking distance to everything. BTW...the date was awesome
One of the places in town that prioritizes hospitality, l love it there.
Great prices and excellent service !
Awesome pub. Love going at lunch where its quite peaceful inside. Nice small menu which I prefer. Large drink list. Dont sleep on the Langos!!
Great find. Staff were excellent. Food & drinks were fantastic. Toad in the Hole & Mac & Cheese.
You can t beat Bart s for a classic pub feel in downtown Victoria. Great selection of beer, pub-style food and friendly service. If you re in need of a relaxed spot for a beer look no further.
Great staff, service and options.
Very helpful, accommodating staff. Secluded outdoor patio, (until 23;00) cozy indoor pub/restaurant. Very pleased they serve non-alcoholic beer & I wish it was available on tap as it is in more & more pubs in Victoria.
3 out of 3 dishes we ordered were terrible
I had the most delicious roasted mushroom tagliatelle. It is heavenly! The pasta is hand made in house. A must try!
Kelee (Idk how to spell) was a fantastic server! She always made sure we had water and took great care of us! The poutine was FANTASTIC and the gin list was 4 pages long. I didnt even know there was that much gin! Absolutely a must go to if youre in Victoria and Im so happy we found it!
A classic pub. Small menu, quality is okay.
This place is not cheap but the atmosphere and service are worth it. Plus I had a Pimms Cup for the first time and it was crazy good.
Such friendly staff and a good selection of drinks. The yorkshire pudding is delicious!
Nice location right downtown Victoria near the museum, vic theatre and the Empress. Warm inviting atmosphere. Food was great and the service was fast and friendly. Prices and food were good (pub fare menu) will definitely go back
I first made the mistake of walking across the street from the Marriott Double tree to Browns Social House. I waited at the bar for over 20 minutes for the bartender to take my order. I came back to the hotel to find this pub one floor below the main floor. As soon as I walked in, I was welcomed by Keely & her warm hospitality! I knew I was in the right place right then ! I sat at the bar and Jeremy & Noah provided me with incredible experience by giving me recommendations of local beers on tap which I thoroughly enjoyed. The food was delicious and the entire team took great care of me while I sat at the bar. I was here for a work trip, so I was alone, but Jeremy & Noah went out of their way to create conversation with me and give me the best dining experience possible. I ll never walk across the street again to a large chain restaurant when I can be spoiled by incredible hospitality and delicious food at the Bartholomew s Public House! Thanks for the great experience I ll be back!
What an amazing spot. We went there after eating dinner at a nearby high end place and needing better food. We chowed down on the pork ribs and the fries. The bartender made us off-the-menu tasty drinks based on what we were in the mood for. They were also extremely pleasant company as a whole. Total night saver.
This place has it all, amazing food, friendly staff, fast service and great atmosphere. A must stop place for sure. The toad in a hole is to die for. And if youre there on a Thursday night, youve got to try musical bingo. Absolutely a blast.
Great atmosphere and staff very attentive. We visited on a Thursday night and they had a game of music bingo going on early doors, great bit of entertainment while we ate.
I had the Yorkshire Pudding stuffed with Roast Beef, Mashed Potatoes and Vegetables and it was absolutely delicious. The only one thing that I would of liked is if the roast beef was a slight bit more tender, but all in all my experience and my families experience eating as this establishment was terrific!
Good service, nice setting, food was good, prices were on the higher end but nothing crazy.
We dropped in for a beer this evening on our first day in Victoria after a long drive and a long walk round. We sat outside but when it got a little chilly we came inside. The duty manager was unnecessarily hostile because we had breached some rule we were unaware of. Not like an English pub at all and we know.
Highly recommend the gluten free calamari and gluten free fish and chips! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options available Food : 5/5 |
Great spot for food and drinks, not badly priced and server was excellent
Overall, its an inexpensive pub, but dont expect a proper English pub experience where you can hang out and relax without the staff trying to bother you incessantly. I was with a group of friends yesterday and we were visibly enjoying our conversation and had beers that werent empty. Despite this, the staff interrupted many conversations. We didnt think we were overstaying our welcome because we were only there for 2 hours and ordered many drinks and food. The happy hour is nice though.
not very good fish & chips
I love the poutine from here, the fries are so tasty. But the cocktails are pretty cool too!
This is our favorite pub in Victoria. We went twice during our visit. Both times the food and drinks were amazing. There Gin and Tonics are the best and the fish and chips is crispy, crunchy and the fish is light and buttery. The first time we were there during happy hour and had great service. The second time was at the end of the lunch service and staffing was minimal and not super responsive because they had to cover all of the restaurant.
Staff was very friendly and the food was great!
Im not sure why no one is talking about the mouse problem. There was literally a family of mice living their best life on the patio, and we saw several mice come in and out of the restaurant. I let someone know, and it looked like they had gone through this before with people because he already had a speech prepared about how they have traps set out and have passed every health inspection. I believed him. We had a couple of drinks and ate food. The staff was very kind and came with a broom and dust pan to try and catch the mice. But for the past 18 hours, I have been feeling extremely nauseated. Then, we looked at the past reviews. About a year ago. Someone left a review talking about the mouse problem. For the people that didnt hear me in the back, THEY HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THE MOUSE PROBLEM FOR AT LEAST A YEAR AND HAVE NOT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. This is disgusting. This is a problem that should have been addressed when it was discovered. The staff was very kind, but not always on top of drinks. I do not blame them for the bars infestation. But management needs to address this. I would advise anyone thinking of coming here, to find a different place to eat.
Delicious food, good service (but forgot to bring us our bill), and nice atmosphere but a little noisy when Karaoke starts.
The service was fantastic. The pub is clad in beautiful dark timber and the brick arched windows will make you think youre in the UK. A fun place for a quick bite and some drinks.
I am a classic cocktail connoisseur, and Bartholomew s Pub is by far the best I have ever had. The Gin Gimlet is perfect, and their gin and tonics are sublime. The fish and chips were also amazing. The service was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. Skip every pub on Government Street and come to Bartholomew s.
Good Place opposite the best Hotel {forgot name}. No Tourist! But use. BEST BEARS + KANADIAN WHISKIES. A REAL GOOD PUB
Had lunch here with some friends while exploring downtown Victoria and had a great experience. Kenzie was our host and server and he was warm, welcoming and professional. Our food was served quickly and we all enjoyed our meals. My dip sandwich was spot on as was the soup and my friend said the fish and chips were very good. The location is perfect for when you are downtown. Do recommend.
I love this place. Its been a source of good memories for years. The new ownership show pride in their cocktail and food lists and the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. Highly recommend.
Great selection of beer! Got two appetizers- the potato skins were small but the quesadilla was good
Great pub style food and atmosphere with Tuesday trivia night and Thursday music bingo
The food here is so good, like way better than any pub food Ive ever had. The spinach dip and fish and chips were perfect. Great atmosphere, and service. Couldnt have enjoyed it more.
Dined here while staying at the Hilton. Disappointing. The furniture inside seating is worned & dirty. The main meal of fish & risotto was poor. The wine selection was one only (they said they ran out due to the hot weather). The service was slow.
Barts as it is affectionately known by locals has all of that old world charm with the classic wood interior and British pub feel. Step on to the patio and you are transported to a lovely little oasis. The fountain drowns out most of the street noise and on a hot sunny day its a lovely place to laze the day away. We tend to go to Barts for happy hour specifically for the gin and tonics which are AWESOME. There are 4 standard options as well as a build your own which is really cool. The food is good. Nothing amazing by my standards. It fulfills its purpose.
The atmosphere would ve gained a higher mark if not for the customer who came in, that every staff member knew as if he worked there, decided he was a VIP who could routinely swear with children in the place. Very classy staff shouldn t feel free to treat the place like a hangout when they re off. Otherwise spot on British decor, good service but the food was not good, tasted old to borderline being sent back.
Classic English pub vibe in downtown Victoria with upscale beer selection and first class service. Skip the rest, and enjoy the best here at Bartholomews.
Incredibly noisy. Huge party next to us were yelling at each other, after staff had the group in a back room they moved them out to the main restaurant. We shortened our meal and left. Food was just ok, staff rarely checked in. Fish and chips were horrible. If there was actually fish under the overcooked batter I could not find much.
Great selection for celiacs. The gluten free fish and chips is very good! Dietary restrictions: Gluten Food : 4/5 |
This is a comfortable casual place to eat. Service is professional, friendly, and helpful. They have several gluten free options. The food is excellent, particularly the French dip sandwich. I highly recommend it.
Perfect poutine. Cheese curds at perfect level of meltiness. Fries perfectly done. Gravy is excellent. Fries could perhaps have a bit more seasoning on them but with a superb gravy they dont really need it.
Had beer along with chicken wings. So yummy . Good service. Very good atmosphere.
This place is great. Good selection of beers and tons of gin. Noah behind the bar was a great guy and terrific sever/bartender.
Good pub food. Excellent service.
A quaint pub with a large selection of beer on tap. The service was OK and the food was excellent. The beer is delicious.
Service was absolutely horrible. We sat for 10 mins before our drink order was taken. Then it took forever to get the drinks. Chicken fingers were luke warm. Caesar salad had too much dressing. Disgusting place, I wouldnt recommend wasting money here
A place with a good English atmosphere, delicious wings and even better drinks,
I held a B2B conference and expo at the Victoria Conference Centre. My delegates were treated with the utmost disrespect just because they smoked cannabis. Calling them pot heads and stoners and not letting them enter the restaurant. Almost all of our delegates stayed here. All of them are in the cannabis industry. Quite certain we will not stay here again because of the manager bias against a legal substance. Meanwhile he makes his living selling alcohol. Just rude.
Never again
I was trying to have a nice dinner after a long day at work but I was disturbed by an argument the very rude manager was having with a guest. He was yelling at him and calling him a pot head. The gentleman remained calm. This manager clearly needs to take a course in good customer service.
Dry ribs very good, seasame dressing delicious. Poutine not as much cheese curds as Costco food court. Tuesday trivia night was great. The cider wasnt great, the coke was flat and poorly mixed. Our waitress was very pleasant, the atmosphere and decor was fantastic.
I was the guy who was kicked out for rolling a joint.
If I can give a zero I would. The manager treated all of our delegates and guests for our conference with the utmost disrespectful. I understand his concerns with substance in his restaurant but the whole process could have been held much differently because of his rudeness may have created the reason why no one was listening to him. But instead he goes on to comment and reply back with the same rude ignorant and disrespect again. Then the next day we had different group of people from our conference (lawyers doctors, government official) enter the restaurant and wanted to put food to their room and were decline. Because of incident that had nothing to do with them. My husband and I spent a lot of money to stay at this hotel . To have the restaurant manager act the way he did and continue to do so for the 3 days. Is just disrespectful ignorant, should not be working with the public. Further more we have video footage of this Manager treating quest with the same disrespect mannerism .
The manager discriminated the medical cannabis convention users and refused us access He just answered us back He never had warned anybody. The guy that was with us is a medical patient that can carry big quantity of cannabis with him. He just pulled it out to prepare his medicine to go outside after I think more than half of the customers that night in your restaurant were the convention people if you would ve been polite and asked us the medical patient would have listen but no, he came in a very hostile way to tell us to leave the place so you have your own interpretation anyways, it s been discussed with the organizers of the convention, I think you are going to have news of the manager of the hotel it was our second year at this hotel for the convention, and I think it will be the last because of your attitude
I came to this pub to meet with colleagues for a business meeting while in town as a guest speaker for a conference. The manager refused to seat us and called us stoners. He was rude, dismissive, judgemental, arrogant and grossly ill informed. He was mired in ableism and was completely discriminatory to me because of my disability. He needs to be trained in customer service and educated by the Hilton and his senior management to not discriminate against professionals or anyone with a disability. I expect an apology as requested. To date no response has occurred.
Great service and draft beer selection
There is a reason I keep coming back here every time I am in Victoria. Such a cozy pub and the food is delicious.
Fun for happy hour, dinner and trivia!!
Loved the atmosphere, nice and cozy! Great service and food too. Had great menu options with decent prices. Will return to enjoy their happy hour next time!
Nice place with pretty good food, the fries are to die for.
Our experience here did not start off that well due to our waitress having a large and needy party consuming so much of her time, but the host that seated us came to check in after seeing we still did not have any drinks. Dan went above and beyond for us and made our experience one to remember. Im not sure who made the drink I ordered, but it was not on the menu and probably the best drink Ive ever had. Next time we are in Victoria, we are sure to stop by again to enjoy the amazing food and friendly staff.
Nice pub
The chicken quesadilla I ordered was basically snack size and not worth the $16 + tip I paid for it
Tuesday night is trivia night and this visit happened to be on Halloween evening...many guests were dressed up and of course the staff too. Great night, lots of fun! Busy place and still friendly and caring services.
My 2nd time to Barts. Love this place! It s a proper old school pub with some nice upgrades great beer selection, great kitchen. Calamari is really good. Nitro Naughty Hildegard on tap! So yummy. I ll be back.
We had such a fun work dinner here. Our waitress Sacha was honestly probably the greatest waitress Ive ever had the pleasure of being served by. There were 18 of us, she was constantly checking in, remembered faces when people moved around the table. Over the noise from the rest of the table she was unbothered, listened to our large orders, repeated it back to the group with perfection, & served as such. Sacha was on fire. We were amazed by their service. Also the food, ugh, it was good - I ate the Toad in a Hole.
On the loud side but typical for a pub environment. Lots of beer choices and pub food was tasty. Also kid friendly.
It was all day Happy Hour, and it was inexpensive, however, the quesidilla was very bland, nachos & pizza okay, but the English pub atmosphere was fun.
I was in the pub one Friday early evening, having a drink with a friend a week or so ago & there was a table of about 8 people nearby that were swearing using the F word repeatedly & loud. I asked to speak to a manager & he asked them once to please stop swearing, but they still continued. When I asked to speak to the manager again, he tried to use the excuse that it is a pub on a Friday night & should be expected. They offered to move me to another table, but I said that I was not the problem so why should I move. The manager then turned the tables & told me that I was the problem because I was the only one complaining about the behavior. This is unacceptable behaviour for a respectable place & I am a regular customer. Very unsatisfied.
Great service..Really miss the live entertainment and dance floor
Manager was not only rule, but arrogant and condescending. Acted as if our group were lesser people than her. Never seen a business talk down to their customers like this place.
