Blue Crab Seafood House in Victoria stands out as a premier destination for exceptional seafood dining in a stunning waterfront location. Renowned for its fresh and flavorsome dishes, warm ambiance, and impeccable service, this establishment is a must-visit for seafood aficionados. Furthermore, the restaurant caters to a diverse array of tastes by offering a selection of non-seafood options, ensuring that all diners can enjoy a memorable culinary experience.
- amazing view but that's it - Food: 3 stars Service: 3 stars Ambiance: 5 stars Price: 2 stars Overall: 3.25 stars We decided to try this place since we didn't want to get Italian food twice in a row. We came here on a Wednesday night and it was mostly empty. However, most of the seats next to the window facing the harbor were taken. They sat us on the upper layer of the restaurant, so we could still see the harbor somehow. It was beautiful with night lights. We ordered 1. West coast steamer pot for starter $25, 2. Lobster and Pacific prawn papardeli $41, 3. Chanterelle mushroom risotto $32, and 4. AAA 6oz tenderloin $55 (all prices in CAD). The steamer pot came first.. and while it's good, the seafood wasn't particular fresh or impressive, and the sauce was too savory/salty for me. After waiting for maybe 30 minutes for food, they finally came. My lobster and prawn pasta was good but again, the sauce was a bit too much. The amount of seafood given was also quite sad. The mushroom risotto wasn't cooked al dented, though the taste was fine and wasn't too salty like other dishes. The tenderloin was good, but I enjoyed the side veggies that came with it and the sweet sauce better than the steak itself. Overall it was just an alright and pricy dinner, so I think it's only worth it if you can get the seats next the window as the view was quite nice. This was the most expensive meal from our trip but I didn't think it was worth.
The Blue Crab Seafood House is a highlight of Victoria's dining scene, offering stunning harbor views and expertly prepared fresh seafood. With attentive staff and an elegant atmosphere, it provides a delightful waterfront dining experience!
We have been going to the Blue Crab regularly for over 20 years now. Although the views are incredible and the service always personable, the food quality has definitely diminished greatly. We recently had the Halibut which tasted like a frozen fish stick from a grocery store, the fries were over cooked and the chowder was anything but good. In the past years, the food was always top notch but sadly, this is no longer the case. We recommend to enjoy drinks and view only. No food.
We live in Victoria and wanted a dinner fancier than the usual 'diner' type restaurants. The best mojito ever!! Our server (sorry can't remember names) was lovely. He did not rush us and didn't hover. Had the steak and lobster. For a seafood restaurant the steak was fantastic. We enjoy the beautiful inner harbour and at Christmas there are lots of cheery lights. We laughed because part of our view was of our own condo right across the water. Highly recommend for visitors and locals.
Delicious food and portions. Our server was very kind and attentive. The evening lighting is great here. It’s not too dark and the interior goes well with it. The only complaint would be some of the desserts were thicker than we expected but they were delicious nonetheless.
Gorgeous views of the harbor. I had the halibut and wished there was more flavor to the batter, and my spouse had the salmon burger. He greatly enjoyed the unique ceaser salad. The service was slower than expected, although we feel they were giving us time to enjoy the views.
I went here for my birthday dinner, and I absolutely loved the view. The food was top-notch, and the server was extremely nice. Highly recommend this place especially if you can get a seat by the window.
Food did not disappoint, absolutely delicious. Watching planes arrive and take off as well as water taxis zoom around provided for an entertaining back drop to our dinner. The outside patio was closed, but the inside was quiet and nice.
restaurant in a hotel. we didn t have reservations so we sat in the bar and had a seafood platter and drinks. the bill was $300 USD and it didn t really satisfy our seafood craving.
We went there expecting a lovely waterfront dinner. My halibut was overcooked and the staff was inattentive. We waited too long to be shown our table. I had noted it was a birthday celebration in the reservation but there was no mention of it. There was a party going in the banquet room that was so loud we couldn t wait to get out of there. The waiter said that the noise was typical. It was the worst dining experience that I ve paid way too much for.
The Alaskan snow crab is phenomenal. Cant wait for an opportunity to come back and have it again. Also the clam chowder, creme brulee, and Sorbet were all exquisite. The service is very friendly and professional.
Lovely meal tonight. L9vely view over the inner Harbour. We had multiple small dishes, a main dish each and a dessert each. All good. Great service. Well go again.
This place has a beautiful view, is clean and the service was very good and friendly. I went with a group for brunch. I ordered vegetarian eggs Benedict. The menu said they came with guacamole, but it was just sliced avocado. The eggs and toast were lukewarm. Worst, the hash browns were a small pile of shredded, barely cooked potatoes that were barely lukewarm. How hard is it to make some decent hash browns? Very disappointing for $23, plus tax and tip.
Dont charge me $25 for a burger and then serve it with cold fries.
Great!
Walking up, seeing that it was a hotel restaurant, I had my doubts. I was wrong. Wonderful food, and their small meal were very reasonable. Elegant setting where we watched the harbor otters play. Surprise bonus, our waiter suggested a restaurant that we later went to.
Wonderful chowder and halibut. Great service and lovely ocean view
A beautiful view of Victoria Harbour from every table.
Vegetarian options: Great risotto Food
Just as good as it gets. Beautyful service & superbe gastronomy. A1 waterfront seating
Great place, fresh fish, attentive service, friendly staff, very nice harbor view
Great breakfast selection & wonderful service!
Disappointing brunch. Poached eggs for Benedict were overcooked and crab cakes were average. Didnt get our side of bacon and the kids bacon was overcooked. Had to fill up my own water. Enjoyed watching the harbor ferries & seaplanes.
I recently had lunch at Blue Crab Seafood House, and it was a delightful experience. The food was good and delicious, and the service was nice and attentive. Its a great spot for a satisfying meal, and I would definitely recommend it.
Im not sure what happened. The searing was cordial. The waiting for even a glass of water , let alone food? I guess theyre on their own schedule. We had to get up and leave. 5 minute wait? OK. 15-20 minute wait to give them our money for any type of food or even a glass of water? Um, this is on our time schedule and pay for it. Ive been to Canada hundreds of times, so I know the indignant slow roll. This one was unacceptable. We walked out without even a waiter greeting us. Good luck, we heard the food is good, but this place isnt timely service when youre on a schedule? This isnt the place to go when you have to be somewhere on a schedule. I cant recommend anything. Id have to have a server first.
Great views and crab but quite expensive for the portions. Service pretty good but can be slow when busy
This restaurant was such a disappointment based on the reviews. It took forever to get our food. They tried to pass off a half a pound of king crab legs as a pound. When I brought it to their attention the chef came out and condescendingly explained to me that crabs have different sized legs (yet you pay for weight so that shouldn t matter). Ultimately they begrudgingly gave us another crab leg. I expect a better level of service and attitude from the staff for the price. On a positive note the view was pretty.
Great views of harbor. Service was great. Food was fabulous. Definitely would come back if visit stress again.
Great place to hang out with family for brunch. Great view, great food and great service.
Roast halibut was delicious
Our waiter, Delvin, the tall, elder gentleman was absolutely fantastic. Cant emphasize that enough, and I hope this gets back to him somehow. The best waiter service Ive had in a very long time. The food was delicious and the scenery is absolutely picturesque. Eating your meal by the panoramic view of the seaside...what a perfect way to spend your day. This venue deserves all 5 stars.
Over 3 hours to get dinner. Entirely too much money for that long of a wait, especially for food that is just ok. The server himself was excellent.
Excellent food for affordable price! I really enjoyed seafood soup!
One of my favourite spots to bring family visiting the island. Comfortable, classy atmosphere. Outstanding seafood dishes and cocktails
This is a MUST-TRY restaurant. Many painfully mistaken people on Yelp and Google Maps alike will say that this restaurant is overhyped, or that it is harboring and hiding hundreds of extremely small french soldiers. But the lips of those who tell and guard truth and integrity in the culinary world may remind you that many foolish Americans said the same of our beloved statue of liberty, whom hosted only 30 or so french soldiers, and they didnt even do that much! I can only await with bated breath the beautiful day that France finally recognizes Canada for its similar valor, and awards it a similar statue. The dishes I tried were the Lobster Pappardelle, The Romaine heart salad, and the Smash Cheeseburger. The first thing to note is the basic bread they brought with all seafood items. It was ludicrous. It drove me and my beloved band of trained mini-horses to near insanity, all of us fainting briefly upon trying the crispy, fluffy, decadent, buttery, garlic encrusted slices. The lobster pappardelle was a marriage of rich, tomato cream sauce, and fresh lobster and prawns. I like to imagine them all packed in an underwater club, with all the little critters dancing to barnacle songs, much like the beloved film, The Little Mermaid. Maybe instead of eating mindless creatures, relieved from a drab life by a merciful fisherman, I was eating happy shrimp, who died satisfied after a long night out. The Romaine Heart Salad was the most interesting blend of flavors of the night. It was sweet, piercingly tangy, and somehow so intense and nuanced that words escape me. The cheese was fresh, well held up, and complimentary to the crisp leaves of romaine. The Steamer Pot had a rich and amazing cioppeno base, and went amazingly with the mini-horse killing bread. The ambiance of the room was complicated. The weight staff was well intentioned but disorganized. they only gave us one napkin for a party of 17 mini horses and one human, and we needed to ask for utensils. When I cut the napkin into eighteenths, suddenly I was the bad guy??? You gave me the napkin, with a knife INSIDE it. Most mini-horses are not meat eaters, but they were difficult when asked about the vegan options. Upon asking for extra napkins, there was a steady stream of them, like a malfunctioning sushi conveyor belt, and by the end of the meal we couldnt even see the check under a sea of napkins. The server was a bit slow and disappeared for about 10 minutes. Other patrons looking around for her.. Needing to ask for desert menus. Didnt follow up on request for after dinner drink menu. The server was friendly when present. The setting sunlight bounced off the shiny table surfaces. Blinds could be pulled down, but there was no server about to assist.
For was great fresh, the garlic bread is a must. Would live to have the the ingredients. Crab legs was delicious. A must go !!
Thank you Manny, for a great experience today! Excellent service, seafood, and tarter sauce ;)
Went here for dinner and brunch and enjoyed every dish that we ordered. The crab cakes and platter were the highlights!
Had wonderful Crab cake eggs benny. Good service, beautiful spot.
Good nice
Ive frequented this place several times during my stay. They serve fantastic breakfast and dinner. The seafood was incredibly fresh, and everything else was superb, but, oh my, the view is simply magnificent. I doubt any other restaurant offers a better view than this. Also the staffs make us feel comfortable. Definitely comeback every time I visit Victoria
For a hotel restaurant the food was quite good, the service was top notch as is the view. A little pricey, but not overly so for the location.
Romaine salad... delicious. Seafood pot... plentiful. Halibut...immense flavors!
The food was sadly below par .The sauce for the mussels tasted like tomato soup. They were unfortunately out of crab, just after 6:00 pm. The salmon entree was disappointing. They best part of this experience was the view.
An absolutely lovely evening, the service and the food was exceptional Thank you Craig
Carly was areal treat, very attentive, accommodating my GF dairy free needs!
We ve been here a few times and have had a wonderful experience each time. The staff is very friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied. The latest time we ordered the squid, oysters, halibut with lobster tail, the steamer pot. Everything was excellent, and the bread pudding dessert was the perfect finish. We will come back again, of course!
This is a review on how a good Manager can turn a horrible experience into a positive memorable experience. So here we go. My wife and I were staying at the Coast Inner Harbor Hotel for business recently. This was the first time for us at the Coast Inner Harbor. While I was at the office my wife went to the Blue Crab Seafood House for a coffee and something light to eat. She decided on a coffee and some Bread Pudding to take back to our room. When she tried to order the coffee and dessert the server was somewhat indignant. Never asked my wife if she wanted to have seat, never offered any water. When her coffee arrived, the server left it at the far end of the bar away from my wife. Finally she received her Bread Pudding to take back to our room. When she opened the takeout box containing the Bread pudding, it was ice cold, not heated up like it should be. Frustrated my wife went down to the restaurant to talk to the server and showed him the ice cold Bread pudding. She then asked to see the Manager. At this point the Manager DV talked to my wife and agreed with her that this service and quality of food was not acceptable. He asked my wife if we were going to dine at the restaurant that night, my wife replied no. After a few minutes of discussion it was decided that we would dine there that night. When we arrived, our table was ready with a spectacular view of the inner harbor. I ordered the Pan Roasted Pacific Salmon while my wife ordered the Yarrow Farms Duck Confit. Both dishes were incredible, the presentation and flavors amazing! For dessert we ordered the Cheesecake which had an incredible presentation and wonderful flavors. After our meal the Manager DV came over to talk to us, we expressed our gratitude on how he handled our situation and because of this we will definitely be back at the Blue Crab Seafood House. Thank you DV!
Had a wonderful dinner - the oysters and halibut were excellent. Tremendous waterfront view, kind service with a small water spill covered by gracious service and adjustment on our check. The brownie dessert was just OK- but everything else was excellent. Glad we booked and came here! Parking: They covered our parking for 2 hours which was perfect
Vegetarian options: Vegetarian bowl Food
Came here with my grandma, and our server, Shawn, gave us a great dining experience. Beautiful view of the harbor.
We went for the Dine Around and the food was adequate but nothing special. Our guests had the capacity Chong the day and were very disappointed.
Really nice place to have a relaxing lunch. Fantastic view of the harbor
I always enjoy the blue crab especially when its cooked with those garlic butter with seasoning of spice and spicy chilli...loved it
Wonderful food and friendly service.
Fantastic food, server was a little rude and uptight. Beautiful views of the harbour.
Atmosphere was a little week for the NYE event however we enjoyed very much
Great food, incredible views and ambiance AND stupendous World Class service.
Overpriced. No fork for entree. Salty desert. manager very bad attitude.
The food was amazing here, the servers wonderful and the atmosphere beautiful by the harbour! Thank you to the chefs who take such great care in what they do.
Seafood allergies make my choices limited
Exceptional service and food
Ate breakfast here twice because we stayed at the hotel. Really good selection and beautiful views but the service we had was excellent. We went right when they opened with two noisy children and our servers were patient. The food was really tasty - had the Salmon Benedict and an Omelette with crab - delish. Kid-friendliness: high chairs available, staff seemed to like that children were in
My wife and I had a wonderful meal at the Blue Crab yesterday. We were greeted by friendly host staff and wonderfully served by Carly who attended to our every need, explaining the menu items and serving us with attention to detail with her delightful and charming good humour. The menu is of course focused on seafood but there are enough other items on the menu to meet most tastes. Our main dishes (Albacore Tuna and Seafood Pasta) were excellent. My seafood pasta was the best Ive ever had and was full of shellfish and just the right amount of pasta in a lovely light cream sauce. We sat at a table with a lovely view over the Victoria inner harbour and the whole scene was perfect for a quiet dinner for two.
I expected better of a seafood house. Mussel portion was small and tiny mussels in the shells. The crab cakes were admittedly very good. Everything else quite average, and less so given the elevated prices.
Good service, the pork special was so delicious. Great view in the lounging area.
The service was great! Friendly staff, however the food is very over priced for the quality and quantity you get. Its got great style and atmosphere but if your looking for good food for a good price Id recommend the Keg instead Kid-friendliness: There was 0 options for sea food on the kids menu.
Went to have something to eat and found put the kitchen closes early on Saturdays.. had an amazing waitress that sold us a bottle of wine
Food is excellent & service as well. Great view. Steak & lobster has great taste.
Awesome! Fantastic service, great food, GREAT view of the Marina and harbor.
Went just for some crab. It was delicious even in the off season. Had lovely staff and a great view
We were staying near by while on vacation in Victoria and really wanted to have a seafood dinner, after reviewing a bunch of different places we decided on blue crab, the menu looked quite good and the restaurant offered really nice views of the local harbor. We started with an order of the chowder, fresh oysters and a local Hazy IPA on tap. The chowder was quite nice and had a good broth with rich flavors, my partner enjoyed the oysters but wasnt a huge fan of the in house hot sauce. As for mains I ordered the local Dungeness crab and my partner ordered the steamer pot. The crab was fairly good the legs were a decent size, the head piece is just for show as they remove all material from the head, I enjoyed the crab but still wonder if I should have ordered the Alaskan crab legs. As for the steamer pot we found it to be sadly a bit on the average side the sauce was alright and the assortment of seafood didnt seem as fresh as other places we tried while in the area. The restaurant isnt too bad and the views are quite nice. If your staying in the area for a few days give this place a try for dinner
It is very beautiful inside, amazing decor and excellent service!
Great quality food, awesome staff and beautiful views of the harbour/marina. I ordered the omelet and would highly recommend it!
Service was horrible . We ordered the tenderloin and lobster and the lobster part was almost nothing when we talked about it the waitress he raised his voice as he was explaining how lobsters in Canada are different after talking to two waitresses (who were both very rude) the manager showed up and did apologize but our appetite was gone. Food was okay but there is definitely better places in Victoria.
Tried to book a table online, and the app would only allow a table for 4. Went by the hotel, and it took 15 minutes to find someone to book a table for 6 . Called back 30 min later to up it to 7 people and was told it was not possible because they had only one server mid week spring break. Why open if you only have a single server for a dining room that fits 200 people.
The food was incredible the service was not.
Nice restaurant, with a really nice view. Food was nice. Servers were nice too. Remember to bring your paid parking ticket and they ll take it off your bill as part of the service to guests.
A nice easy walk, wheelchair friendly with beautiful views. A must visit. Atmosphere : 5/5
My business partner and I reserved a table two nights in a row, the first night the bill was $600 (4 People) and the second night it was just the two of us, we order 3 appetizers and a few drinks and we were chatting when one of the staff comes us and tells us he is moving us into the lounge (no asking) because he wants to give our reserved table to someone else, grabs our food and drinks and moves us. We both are dark skinned so you can see where this is going...they proceeded to seat a white couple at our table. I have never been treated so badly in any establishment so we left immediately after finishing our drink. Blue Crab Seafood House, you should be ashamed of yourselves!
Juicy-velvety textures will confront your taste buds with every seafood intake. The fresh poached feelings made my partner in crime say: Seems that the shrimp I have tasted so far was frozen! This succulent seafood entertainment headquarters pampered us with a privileged view of the Victorian Port while the attentive and kind crew checked on us, mumbling mmmmms and giving thumbs up. The virgin beverages were so good that we doubted they were really alcoholic-free. The perfect spot for a celebration
I went here for an early Mothers Day dinner. We had excellent and attentive service, food was very tasty with large portion sizes. My sister and I had drinks, but the taste of rum was overpowering and completely negated the other delicate flavours. Unfortunately they ran out of gin and oysters. We had the artichoke dip, crab cakes and clam chowder to start. The crab cakes were a little too salty for our preference but was still tasty with the sauce. For the main course we had the butter poached Pran spaghettini, roast wild mushroom and clam Pappardelle, local salmon plate and the steamer pot. My family was quite happy with the tastes and portions.
The food was exquisite and so fresh. The view fantastic. The service efficient and friendly, without being intrusive. Lovely experience and will go again.
Boy, were we happy! I am from Alberta and rarely get the best fresh seafood. I called last minute asking for a reservation, and they managed to fit us right in. Ordered the Crab Cakes and Halibut, and the lady got chicken. Everything was delicious, and we couldnt have asked for a perfect final date night on the island. Im definitely coming back next holiday. Thank you!
Great place for an afternoon meeting.
Parking: Expensive to park and dinner prices too. Not great dinner service. No one came to ask to refill drinks or ask how our food was. Beautiful setting but probably wont come back. Food
Great staff great seafood
Decent food, really nice people. A little more expensive then lots of other places. Beautiful view over the inner harbour.
we came in and asked for a table, they asked if we had a reservation, we said no, they said we could only sit in the lounge than, restaurant was empty, service was slow, food was mediocre at best, when we left restaurant was still mostly empty could have been sat at a table.
Best Steamer Pot I ever had in Canada. Food was just great all together. Best restaurant we could find in Victoria. Prices reasonable. Nice view onto the water.
The food here is beautifully presented but could be a bit better cooked. The crab cakes were very disappointing without much crab in the mixture. Service was competent but the atmosphere lacks much energy.
We went for the seafood, unfortunately they were out of everything we tried to order... even the beer that one of our party asked for... waiter was amazing, view fantastic!! Food not so much. I ordered a steak!... wouldnt again, found it tough for medium rare plus it said ribeye! Looked more like a sirloin... when you spend close to 600 dollars for a night out with family you expect better dishes! Not having to make 3 or 4 different choices because there basically out of all seafood... will not return, lots of better restaurants in Victoria
Maddie is the absolute MVP of waitresses out there. She gave us top-notch service with the most wonderful recommendations. She even went out of her way to show us the expert way of opening up crabs. The highlight of the night was her allowing us to scratch and sniff the maple-scented Canadian dollar for the full experience and discussing regarding fellow Canadians, Justin Bieber and Drake. Not to mention, the food was absolutely delicious and the views were surreal. Thank you for the most wonderful evening. Please give her a bonus/raise because she deserves it.
The atmosphere was nice, staff were great. A tad on the expensive side if you were to compare other restaurants with the same quality of food and service.
I am writing this review after having contacted the management directly, with absolutely no response. I would not have written this had there been any acknowledgement of my complaint. First - greeting at the door was unfriendly, and dry - just very matter of fact, here is your table, as if this was some side-of-road diner somewhere, not an upscale restaurant. Hostess forgot the kids menus. Our actual waiter seemed stretched thin, not rude per se just not attentive, rushed, didnt make eye contact passing by, literally had to say excuse me to get his attention, never checked on us unless called upon. My husband wanted Fat Tug - couldnt get it as the keg was out. I waited at least 30 minutes for my sparkling wine to arrive, tables that came after us were served drinks before I was. My children ordered $7 peach sparkling lemonades which actually werent sparkling at all, they were completely flat. They liked them, so I said nothing, but definitely not what we ordered. I wanted the beets and goat cheese salad, and asked the waiter if I could maybe add chicken to that, to which he said I could but he recommended I add halibut - I said okay i will go with his recommendation. Halibut was delicious, but when the bill came i was shocked to see that the upcharge for this one piece was $38 making my dish basically a $60 dollar salad. There were several dishes on the menu with halibut in the $49 range, so I dont know how in the world my salad came to be $59, and i most certainly should have been warned of such upcharge. Let me tell you, I have never paid $59 for a salad before, and it 100% was not worth it. I believe if a server recommends an add on that triples the price of your dish - your customer should be forewarned. Finally, the order of wings was really bad. The children liked it, so again we said nothing, but they were absolutely the tiniest, driest wings I have ever seen. We ordered salt and pepper, and the wings did have salt and pepper on them but also had sweetness to them which makes me think that they were originally something else (sweet chili or honesty garlic or something like that) $260 later and we are quite disappointed. The way my email to management was ignored - unacceptable for the supposed caliber of this place. This is sadly a tourist trap type of thing, and not one that will be on my regular list of venues.
An amazing dining experience tonight! After 11 years of visiting this outstanding restaurant the dining and service experience is still great! The Dungeness Crab was PERFECTLY prepared and the chefs selection of seasonal offerings was superb. Kudos to our server Dava, for het attentive and thoughtful service and advice, and herknowledge of the ice wines and Ports inthe rsstaraunts cellar. An excellent dining experience supplemented with knowledge, courtesy and attention to detail. Thank you Blue Crab for a memorable dining experience!
Definitely would not go back Okay since you asked for more information here it is: Your ceaser salad which your waiter said it was. Was absolutely disgusting, the olive purée makes it taste like the worst thing I ve ever consumed. We also ordered the crab trio. The Alaskan king was over cooked, the snow crab legs were tiny and barely had any meat in them. The dungeneous crab tasted identical to hot water. I can honestly say it had zero crab flavour and was by far the worst crab I ve ever had in my life. The cold potato salad and coleslaw were horrible, one of them contained cilantro which is such a powerful herb that maybe, just maybe you mention that when it s ordered. We complained about the meal and received $20 off. From a $150 bill in which we hated everything. Your food sucks and when someone complains about not enjoying anything on their plate. A good owner would give more than $20 off. If that was done I wouldn t have left a review at all. Your $20 off was an insult. So here s more of a review for you.
We had a great evening, great view of the Inner Harbor, great service and very good seafood with wine from Iceland. Is worth the price.
Great staff, amazing food, and cool atmosphere with a beautiful view
The food was extremely bland and the interior feels straight from 1997. Having eaten at Elliot s in Seattle two days before I felt it was a good comparison with blue crab as they are similar in price and food styles. Elliot s was much more flavorful, and the atmosphere at Elliot was great. Blue crab reminded me of a Gordon Ramsay TV show. Everyone in there apart from my family was over 75 and the food was overcooked and missing seasoning completely.
To be fair, most of the staff at the restaurant was pretty nice but, just like the hotel its in, the rot starts at the top; the gentleman (apparently the maître de maison in the part of Canada where they hate French speakers) was about the most ignorant arrogant rude philistine I have met in my 50 years of living in the area. Just shameful for is locals how clueless our people are about what culture and class actually are... Mostly it just reminded me of the rule that I broke going there! Dont go to fancy restaurants in the area because they have no idea what a fancy restaurant even is.
I have only been to the blue crab for breakfast and have been very impressed with the quality of food and service
The food was very good all in all. The salad was spectacular, and it was evident the seafood was very fresh. However, the service left much to be desired. We waited for over 2 hours for the Dungeness Crab. We had all finished our food by the time it came. Before the crab was brought, I asked to talk to the manager, as at that point I had asked for updates on the crab about 4 times with no response. I was told there was no manager on the floor, and it was clear no one knew how to deal with the situation. Our friend is visiting from Atlanta, and he was so excited to try this crab. He was so disappointed at the wait, that by the time the crab came he didnt even enjoy it. The kitchen seemed understaffed, and so did the floor. To be fair, they did take the crab of the bill. It was a very nice gesture.
Got a table facing the ocean. Amazing view! Watched a cruise ship come in. Seen a sea Otter in the water near by. I ordered the Halibut and it was incredibly delicious My husband had the steamed mussels and seafood soup. He loved it.
Food was fantastic. Service was exceptional. Had a great time
The blue crab has some great food! Of course its on the spendy side but they feature some of the best crab in the world!! Fresh Dungeness crab is to die for must see if you are a seafood fanatic.
We came into town on a cruise ship and had an amazing dinner at Blue Crab Seafood House. The seafood chowder and crab plates were incredibly fresh and filling! Our waiter Hunter provided exceptional service - he was cognizant of our timelines, made great meal suggestions for local favorites, and even got us a shuttle back to the ship. Shout out Emilio for the transport! We really enjoyed our night. Must visit if you re in town!
Beautiful scenery, delicious crab dishes, steak, and the best atmosphere. Be sure to go there.
Service excellent. Mike is a professional server. Food is delicious..
The portion of the meal wasn t very big but the desert was good for 4 of us lol We tried salmon, halibut, prawn and lobster, I liked the lobster the most (freshest) Sat by window, got the sea view.
Had my first disappointing experience in Victoria. It was chilly sitting outside past 8 pm. When I requested a blanket for my wife, the waiter insisted we order first. When we finally did, there were no blankets left. So unprofessional & unfriendly. The service was slow, though the food was ok. For a superior dining experience, Id recommend Finn s.
I had the Humboldt squid and crab cakes to start. Amazing. Then had the pan seared sockeye salmon with risotto which thoroughly enjoyed haha. Great view of the Johnson st Bridge and incoming coho and clipper and the server was personable and great. Ill be back!
We had a very nice experience here for dinner last night. An awesome view of the water, great service and delicious food. We had the Albacore Tuna and the Mussels served with fries and garlic toast.
My favorite seafood place to eat in Victoria. I never go to Victoria without hitting up the Blue Crab. Food mever disappoints, atmosphere is 5 star. Service is always memorable!!
Worst service I have had in 10 years. The waiter forgot the wine and bread. The young man that waited on us, advised my wife that the food was coming soon and did she want another glass of wine. She said yes, however, we got through most of dinner without him checking up on us to let him know that he forgot the wine. My wife also asked for bread 3 times before he brought it.
Great dinner place with huge range of dishes for all tastes and a view of harbor. Super friendly service, fabulous Kid-friendliness: They gave our 7-yo crayons and a coloring sheet of paper with a maze
Most stunning restaurant views! Food was good but not as good as we hoped for. The staff are all incredible and make the entire experience great. 4/5 would come again.
We came back to the hotel just before the restaurant was closing. We were able to order dinner to take back to our room. The food was awesome. The kitchen forgot a potato with the chicken and ran it up to the room.
Will not be back- better seafood places in town where I won t wait 30min for a crème brûlée (with no check ins) and I won t have to walk halfway out the restaurant to get a bill.
The most over priced, underwhelming food I ve ever eaten. Came here for my birthday, ordered steak and lobster - $75, expecting something delicious at that price. The lobster was small and rubbery, the steak was tough even though it was supposed to be medium rare and barely 3oz, the pommes Anna was overcooked, the plate was mostly vegetables and the closest thing they had to seasoning was the smidge of mushroom purée. Do NOT order this dish. My sons kids meal had more food than mine, also very bland though. I enjoyed my cocktail and the view is looooovely, but the disappointment was unreal. Staff were friendly. Wouldn t go back, definitely wouldn t recommend.
We are locals. Out with family including a 4yr. old. Enjoyed a fine meal with excellent service from our server DV.
Service was incredible. Everyone we interacted with was super friendly, polite, and competent. We were seated immediately and our host and server both had us set up within seconds of arriving at the table. Our seats over looked the ocean and we watched ships come in while we waited for our food. The mussels were cooked perfectly, not even slightly tough, they fell apart in the mouth. Tomato basil sauce for the mussels on point. Crab was done perfectly. The real kicker though was they got us a shuttle to drive us back to our hotel at no charge and the guy even stopped for us at the BCL. Super friendly guy! All in all a great experience which Id definitely recommend.
Great taste, good service, friendly staff (esp Carly)
OPEN For LUNCH. Celebrated my father s 91 Birthday. What a lovely time. Travis was attentive to our family needs food is excellent. In spite what Google says they are open for lunch in the lounge.
Terrible service, no fresh seafood, really gone downhill.
We decided to pop in for a quick cocktail and truly enjoyed our experience. We received a lovely greeting from Chris and enjoyed our interaction with Carly. Great lounge vibe and service.
The food that we had here was delicious. I had a wonderful cocktail made from local ingredients and alcohol and it was really good. I was expecting small portions for the price and how fancy the restaurant is ;however, all the apatizers we ordered were a good size. My drink was also a decent size. Our waiter was also really friendly and polite. I will be going back. The only downside is that is expensive but worth it. Parking: Parking is on the street first come first serve.
Its fine.
Great staff and fare
Fantastic place for breakfast!
Food was absolutely not fresh!!!!!! Stomachache. Terrible experience.
Went to this restaurant for the first time and had the Dine Around menu. The staff were lovely and the perfect amount of attentive without disrupting the meal. We had the tuna tataki and spring rolls to start. The tuna dish was refreshing and I enjoyed the addition of the marinated squash, which added a salty, umami kick. The spring rolls were rich and gooey, and the chutney complemented it well. We tried the lobster Mac and cheese and Jambalaya-stuffed pork chops for the main. The Mac and cheese had lots of lobster in it and the cheesy sauce was perfect. The pork chop was moist and perfectly cooked. The jambalaya was well seasoned (although not very spicy) and the dish was incredibly filling. For dessert we had the Apple/profiterole dish and the poached pear, which were great as well. We couldn t actually finish the desserts since by this point we were beyond full, but they were delicious. I ll definitely be back to try their regular menu items. The only critique I would give is that the decor is a little dated, but that does not detract from the lovely harbour views, service and food.
We ate two breakfasts here and our entire group enjoyed their meals. Great quality with friendly service. Nice views of the water and marina as well.
Very good seafood menu and nice view of Victoria harbour from almost all dining tables. Underground parking is good. There is a six dollar fee which is deducted from your dining bill.
Horrible experience. The appetizer started off with pieces of burnt flat bread I took it out to show, but it was hidden under other pieces of bread. The main course seemed off, I had the Ahi tuna burger with chowder soup. I asked if the soup was included in the price which they said it was but the bill said otherwise. I went home feeling sick. I will say that they do have a fantastic view though.
it was my first time in BC. i was staying at the hotel located where the Blue Crab is situated. i was in such a good mood from being in this gorgeous city, and decided to grab at bite to eat in this restaurant. now, where i am from, it is standard that the 15% service tip is added at the END of the stay when you check-out and receive all your billed meals and etc. that were ordered to your room. i was so polite and kind when i ordered my meal and asked if it could be picked up and if the bill could be sent to my total for the end of my stay. so since i had asked for the bill to be added to my total for us to pay later when we checked out, i did not bring any payment with me because i had asked for it to be added to my billed. based on my service, i would tip accordingly. i always tip. i am a service worker. when i went to pick up my food i did not pay anything, nor did i bring cash. my misunderstanding. but the way this male employee spoke to me when i went to order a few more things on the phone was disgusting. I AM A SERVICE WORKER. i assumed my tip would be accumulated at the end of my stay when i went to pay for everything i purchased! he said, well, it s customary for you to pay a tip when you order when staff don things for you at this time of night. (7:30 pm???? grow up!!!) it s Black History Month. and i don t appreciate a white male speaking to me (a Black Woman) like a bug. I wasn t going to just carry my tip with me if i intended to pay (and tip) at the end of my stay. i don t know it just made me feel humiliated and kind of put a damper on my stay. i am a server. i don t curse out and degrade every person who doesn t tip. and i had every intention of giving your $5.40 15% tip to you at the end of my stay. when i pay for everything. food was amazing. from the one bite i had. didn t have much of an appetite after that negative encounter.
Good views
Impeccable service! Big shout out to the lovely and genuine My Loves server, Carly !!! If you want some TLC ask for her most definitely!! She is kind, eloquent, extremely helpful and spot on detail & recommendations. A true professional! Bravo Blue Crab for keeping such a GEM! Hope you re treating her like the gold she is! Props to the Chef for perfectly grilled Tenderloin, smooth mashed potatoes and flavourful sauces! Indulged with the Caesar Salad, Steak & Lobster, and Croissant Pudding! AWEmazing! Thank you Blue Crab for a soulful and deeply nourishing experience! I am like WOW! Like Wow! Did I say that already? Lol
I had the seafood pasta and it was in point!!!
Nice ambience and wonderful service.
My wifes birthday dinner was here. She loves her seafood and they do an amazing job of cooking and presentation as well. The only negative out of our incredible experience was the bartender who motioned us away (shoed us)before they opened the restaurant. Mike our server very friendly and service was fast too. However, this is for the real stars here and thats the cooks. Everything and I mean everything was simply amazing. A job well and truly done.
Had a wonderful Birthday meal at the Blue Crab. Really, really good Calamari!! (Best Ive ever had, and I eat calamari every time I see it on a menu). Just okay crab cakes.... Tuna was decent. Very good Steak and Lobster meal. Excellent service which for the prices really should never be less than excellent. We will return!
Only stopped for drinks but wow. The west coast vesper was the worst martini I have ever had. We were told it was voted their favorite cocktail so after trying it we high tailed it out. If thats the best I can only imagine how bad the rest are.
Amazing food, friendly staff, and wonderful view! Had a delightful and special dinner here my first night in Victoria.
We came for dinner and the crab was amazing. Our server was Mike, who has worked here for thirty years and he was incredible. Thank you Mike, until next time!
Pesto halibut topped with a crostini crumb with a crab crepe was amazing! So so tasty Missus had the tuna (rare but charred) which is how its listed on the menu . really tender and lovely. Flavour wise was good but had tuna before which had more flavour to it. It was a lovely piece of tuna but just lacked the wow factor hence the 4/5 star review. Aside from this, as the restaurant is within a hotel, it was busy enough when we came in but the tables soon emptied and the atmosphere became a little lacklustre. Our waiter was friendly and attentive.
The crab and lobster dip was great but halibut and chips needs more flavor in the batter and the menu needs to be updated for the prices very expensive for mediocre food please update.
Very good price-performance ratio, dignified atmosphere, very good fish and delicious salad even without bacon
Breakfast was awesome. Coffee was very good. Wonderful views and amazing service
Food is not that good its Ok. Service is also not good. I would not go there again. Dietary restrictions: Everything is cooked with wine so if you dont have alcohol you will not be able to eat anything here. Parking: You can park at the hotel park for 3 CAD per hour Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly at all. Even the high chair they brought was filthy. And the only food they offer for kids is fried.
Amazing and friendly staff. The halibut was delicious!
We went for our 10th wedding anniversary booked and mentioned in Opened Table) First, we 3 got cramped to a smaller table even though theres a larger table available by the window. The service - less than standard for the price that we paying. Food taste okay, but overpriced. We ordered crab cake, clam chowder, halibut, tuna, kids meal, and 2 drinks. Last, they DO not have the mussels available that night (6:45pm) dinner time. Thats so disappointing, as what being called a Seafood restaurant. I do think they expecting me to pay lots of tips. Once I pay what I willing to pay and leaving. I believe thats the manager that we were walking face to face, she doesnt even say thank you or good bye.
The restraunt was booked for dinner. I told the hostess that I would wait in the lobby incase she had a opening. While I was on my phone she came to me 5 mins later and had a table for me. She said she couldnt let my son starve. She was absolutely amazing, kind and sweet.( Blonde lady) I definitely reccomend this restaurant . The staff are great. The food is amazing. My server was so sweet. Thanks for being so kind
Great seafood, great service, will return.
Great breakfast, great drinks and very friendly staff
Contrary to some other reviews, we had a wonderful meal with great service. We had the Crab cakes and the the Mussels, both were wonderful.
Superb
Breakfast and service was good Friday and Saturday. Sunday was like amateur hour, couldnt cook eggs properly time after time. No matter whether poached or fried, gave up. Watched Canada Day fireworks from the bar. Good food at night. The service was great but the waitress had an annoying habit of saying my loves over and over sometimes 3 times in a sentence. One Asian lady pointed it out and she just said yes my coworkers tell me too ha ha...not funny !
Really good cuppa chow Service was top notch and the views are gorerrgeous! They closed really early for a Friday night, but everything tasted delicious!
My experience started with a last minute drop in. Despite not having a reservation on a Saturday night, the greeter was able to find us a table! We ordered the side garden salad, the Alaskan king crab and the seafood pasta. Everything presented well, was well cooked and very flavourful. The server was attentive and the big windows allowed us to enjoy the harbour view. This place is highly recommended!
It was terrible. They seved the food almost an hour later.
Took my family out for a nice meal when visiting them in Vancouver. We where served very well although we where with a party of 10. They gave us a nice spot with a good view on the water and the harbor. Food was very good and especially the Alaskan crab was fantastic. We would definitely go here again.
My wife and I shared the cod and chips. Also a ceaser salad. For dinner. IT was ok. We had breakfast there also.It was alright also. Prob wont go again because it is way over priced for what your getting. Parking: We stayed at the hotel so our parking was looked after. That made it more enjoyable.
Had breakfast there was excellent waitor was really good also
Most abysmal brunch Ive ever had. My breakfast sandwich came without the advertised crab or my requested mushrooms; they didnt even tell us that they ran out of crab until I told them I noticed that there was nothing in my omelette. The pancakes were incredibly flat and had barely any flavour. Utterly disappointing.
The food was good. I had the king crab and my wife the halibut. My side was mediocre, but thats not why I got the KC. The service was not good. The manager noticed that we hadnt been helped in a while and took our drink orders. Over 20 minutes later we were noticed again, and the waitress was sent over. It took the food over 30 minutes to arrive, and that was after we asked. We were served at 1 minute past their closing time, and got to observe the PPP lace get shutdown as we ate. We were the last table leaving amidst the waiters cashing out and finishing their work. Could have been more enjoyable, but oh well. The halibut was good.
Beautiful view of the harbor! Great atmosphere/ambience. What brought my review down to 3 Stars is the portion sizes in relation to the price. We ate dinner there, with 4 adults, and everyone was underwhelmed with the portion sizes of their meals, especially in relation to the price.
We had an exceptional dinner here last night. I believe our server was Craig, and he was such a lovely presence and catered to all our needs. The halibut was divine, and all the food was delectable. We will absolutely be returning here! Parking: You pay ahead for the underground parking, but you get reimbursed for 2 hours which was perfect.
Diner was good, but for $200 you expect great.
A vist to remember great food with a good glass of wine. A million dollar view. What more do you want?
So disappointed with the service, I hoped this would be a fine dining restaurant. Plates and dishes from the appetizers were not cleared before the main courses came out. A cluttered mess and we had to clear the table for them. At the end of the meal, the staff was more interested in setting up the empty tables around us for tomorrow, then to attend to clearing our table. With my hands dirty from eating the whole crab, I finally had to go to the washroom to get my hand wash as no wet wipes or cleaning bowl was provided. Upon my return, my plates were not clear and I had to clear my dirty plates and place them on another table., Ii found the waiters recommendation to have the halibut or tuna dish interesting as I came for the crab.. I thought the crab had to be excellent as this was a crab house, I was completely wrong and should have had the halibut. The crab was tiny with little to no meat, at $79 for the plate, there was no value. The views of the Harbour are outstanding from this restaurant, the atmosphere is delightful, the non crab dishes were nicely done and a fair value, the wine selection was robust and of great quality and value. I hope they get there staffing right as this could be an excellent place one day.
Gotta have the chowder
I splurged on king crab legs and was very satisfied with everything!
Excellent service, exceptional harbor views, and superbly prepared food.
Very disappointing. We felt fish and chips would be a sure thing. The batter was crisp on the outside and the consistency of oatmeal on the inside. Not once but twice when it was to be fixed. A cod fan and cook, it was alarming to find not cod but a mild mushy fish. The Caesar was old and brown edged. The fries were not edible. The surly service was almost humourous, with the neighboring table echoing similar issues. When they asked her to address issues the manager back pedaled, blamed, and was in no way conciliatory. Dont know how or why a once venerable establishment became low grade but it has.
Would have been 5 all round had it not been for the unhappy person on the reception
Had dinner & breakfast here. Liked the food the seafood pasta they made it vegetarian for me . the menus are in the pictures . Quality is of the food is nice . Atmosphere is great . Comfy chairs. Nice Harbour views. Washrooms are in lobby or in your rooms . Staff great here . Note they dont have dinner open everyday during the week like Monday & Tuesday except the lounge . The green salad had goat cheese its a great salad
A great place in the Coast Hotel. Unfortunately, due to COVID-Related staff shortages, the menu is considerably reduced. However, what is available is well presented and flavorful. The staff are friendly, attentive and professional. Being located on the waterfront is a plus for ambiance. Parking: Parking is roadside so it depends on arrival time and luck how close you park as some of the side streets are Resident Parking Only.
Our first date started at Victoria Love the seafood here
We are never disappointed at the entrees and appetizers served at Blue Crab Seafood House. True to its word, crab is the specialty. Dont miss the crabcakes, among the freshest, meatiest and flavorful of its kind on either side of the Strait. Dont miss the melt-in-your-mouth tenderloin beef steak, either. The salads also deserve a nod for their freshness and restraint. This is a true win-win dining experience.
We eat here every time we come to Victoria. Good food and lovely presentation. Although it is a bit formal, youll never feel out of place in your walking clothes if you decide to stop in for a glass of wine after a walk along the Inner Harbor.
Blue Crab restaurant has deteriorated badly!! In fact, although the lights are on, there is NO staff and NO service!! AND, because you MUST park in the hotel parking underground ($9.00), you must prepay this BEFORE getting to the restaurant -- which has lights on and tables set but NO SERVERS. We went for a Special Birthday lunch, paid $9.00 parking (under a large welcome to Blue Crab restaurant sign) so that wed have a leisurely lunch and could not find any staff working. We finally ended up at the hotel reception, with a grinning clerk who told us (a) Blue Crab was closed AND (b) they would not refund our $9.00 parking payment. The parking receipt says present receipt to service for 2 hours free parking but the hotel clerk grinned at us and said no refunds were possible. In other words, Blue Crab just wants your money, without ANY service!!
For the quality of restaurant it was ok. The view is why you go. The menu was fairly limited. Its basically like the Keg but a more limited menu and equivalent quality. I got the snow crab. The view balanced it out but next time Ill just have drinks there.
Yummy all the time
Food was amazing! Great views but the service was less than good. No water. No specials given.. overheard the specials from another waiter/ table. sat with a dirty plate for over 8 minutes... got better service from the waiter that wasnt our waiter. Again, The food was so so good though.
Delicious food and good service.
This once was a great place to eat. Our last visit there was awful. The mussels were bland and tasteless. We sent the fish & chips back because the were greasy and the fish undercooked. To their credit we were not charged for the fish and chips.
Was OK but prices are the same or more then before covid but only half the menu. I asked about the platter but because of short staff that couldnt happen. So not impressed you would think because half the menu is offered the prices would reflect it.
