So I came in for a date and wasn t sure how it was going to go and didn t want to commit to a table in the restaurant. They said if I wanted a coffee I had to sit at the bar. After a while we wanted food but it was really hard to get a menu and order, the pizza chef ( who was super cool and really good at his job ) had to get us menus and then we couldn t order we had to go to the counter and order and pay. So that kind of sucked. I ve never been to a restaurant where you weren t allowed to sit and order a coffee at a table by the window. Other than that it was cool, I enjoyed the pizza and the atmosphere. Vegetarian options: They have a vegan cheese on one of the pizzas and a pretty good sounding falafel bowl ( falawfully good) Kid-friendliness: There were children. They were well behaved and mostly went unnoticed. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp goes into the place and they have tables you can wheel up to ( some are high though)

The smash burger was tasteless. Two of us had the hamburger and we both wished we had ordered something else. There was nothing to like about it. Since posting this, the restaurant reached out and provided a means to followup and rectify the experience. However, after immediately responding to the unexpected but nice gesture, they have still not followed up...its been over 3 months....wont be going back. There are alternative dining experiences. Parking: Residential area and marina. Parking options are not great.

Great location to experience a sunset and enjoy the dynamic of downtown Victoria ( ferries, water taxi, water plans, kayak devotees, the Parlament House, Fairmont Hotel and more) Delicious pizza and great wine selection and desserts!

Great atmosphere and food. I am local and this is my favourite fancy dinner place in town. They have a non-alcoholic cocktail list that is much appreciated, and their service is prompt and professional.

Had dinner with My best friend and my mother last night. Shalena s service was exceptional. My mum has food issues that can be a challenge. Shalena could not have been more accommodating. Mum often avoids going for dinner due to her FOD diet Mum was so happy to be so well taken care. Thank you for the exceptional service. They have a special deep fryers to accommodate people who are celiac and willing to adjust a dish to suit my mums food challenges. Cheers

Really screwed up a family event

Nice upbeat atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon here - not crowded at all. When in for just coffee and dessert, the choices are delightful, prices quite reasonable. Gazing out at the yachts moored adjacent to the restaurant is always interesting.

I thoroughly enjoy visiting the Victoria International Marina and Boom and Batten Restaurant. When that beautiful development was initially announced there was a surprisingly large contingent of locals that were vehemently against the project. Im a lifelong Victorian and professional mariner, (licensed captain), and was thrilled to see that Victoria was to get a world class maritime facility. I lobbied City Hall at every counsel meeting over the proposed development. I brought current statistics, data, research of financial and community benefits of having a luxury yacht marina. The development was allowed, albeit, at 52% of the original design. Its become a gem of the harbour now!

We came in from Alberta, first time to the island, as a couple together. My partner and I got seated immediately and the hosts treated us so nicely. Katt was our server and we connected immediately, we felt right at home yet also like we were welcomed guests to a dinning experience that we just simply can t receive where we are from. It was truly an amazing time. The drinks that Katt recommended to us were executed so freakin well by the most wonderfully talented Nikkita. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone that has the chance. Vegetarian options: So many vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: They did the cauliflower so well omg, and also confirmed that there was an absence of multiple allergens.

Boom + Batten is one of my top favourite places for brunch. No really complaint except for being charged $1 each for a tiny side of butter and a tiny side of jam that I only used perhaps a teaspoon of. Most restaurants typically don t charge for condiments so when I saw these charges on my bill I was quite surprised and dismayed. Otherwise I love this place and the food and everything!!

Food quality was very poor. Scallops were small and overcooked, salads were flavourless with limp lettuce. Desserts tasted like they came from a box. Nothing seemed to be fresh or made in house. The prices were exorbitant considering the quality. The service was below average. The drinks and atmosphere were fine.

Food was amazing. The mushroom risotto was spectacular. The views probably would ve been great, but a truly ludicrous yacht was blocking every single window. Still worth it though!

Lovely building and fun classy vibe. The food was good but could be better to catch up to everything else about this place. Med-rare steak was medium and the chocolate-coffee delish tasted like a box brownie. Id come back and try again with the pizza. It looked like many patrons were having a good time with that.

We have gone to Boom & Batten a few times for breakfast now. We get eggs Benedict. The food had always been good as well as the service. A great experience. Especially with such a lovely few of yhe Harbour. Love watching the planes take off and land.

Close friends invited us to this restaurant. I fail in love with atmosphere and with food. We ordered several dishes for share. Portions not big, but when you order couple items to share it s more than enough. Service was good. I will definitely go there again when I ll visit Victoria.

I was torn between 4 and 5 stars - wish I could give 4.5! We went for brunch and our food was delicious (I had the benny with smoked salmon). The location is incredibly beautiful right on the harbour - I would go back just because of how beautiful it is. My only complaint was that I felt it was somewhat overpriced (particularly for drinks).

My girlfriend and I came last Friday to this restaurant and it was a good choice. The place was elegant, the food was good too and the view was incredible. Next time we come back to Victoria we will come back to this place.

Its always a delight to come to Boom - the views never disappoint, their food is great, service is lovely, their cakes are freaking delish, and enjoying the ships going by, water planes coming in and out of the harbour is really special! Even if you just come for appies, youd be remiss not to try and get a window seat to watch the harbour while enjoying a tasty meal and bevvie.

I m struggling between 4 and 5. Overall, it s a great place but there is always a room for improvement, isn t?

I wasn t impressed by a lot of things at this restaurant, one of them being the service. We walked in for our reservation and were told that it would be about 10 minutes until our table was ready - completely understandable. Since the waiting area was full, we asked to sit at the (very open) bar. The hostess denied our request and instead suggested that we take a walk outside since the wait wasn t very long. We also spoke to a manager about a problem at hand - nothing serious, we just had a question for her - and were spoken to in a very condescending and curt way. The one redeeming factor was our lovely waitress, whose name I don t recall unfortunately. The food was mediocre, especially considering the prices. The burrata salad was tasty, but the ratio of burrata to salad was very off. The burrata was gone within two bites. The gnocchi rossa was almost completely flavourless. Although the pasta wasn t bad, the sauce itself was quite awful. Bitter and lacking salt. The tuna tataki was extremely salty, perhaps due to the soya sauce in the dish. The green beans on the side of the halibut dish were essentially raw, as well as the roast potatoes that came with the steak. Overall, I wouldn t recommend coming here based on my personal experience.

Yummy mussels, great service!

Thoroughly enjoyed Lunch with the wife. The tagliatelle was excellent and the Poke Bowl was great. Loved the atmosphere, it was upscale, yet casual enough. Service was prompt, friendly. I would recommend a reservation though, on a sunny Sunday, it was busy.

Excellent steaks and seafood. Good drink selection with alcohol free cocktails and a great wine list. Definitely a place to go back to for a nice occasion.

Wow- I didnt know what this place was like before I went. Delicious! A great place for a slow relaxed meal. Vegetarian options: The vegetarian and vegan options were clearly listed on the menu.

Picked the restaurant for its excellent views and great ambiance. Our server, Simon, created a warm and welcoming environment and met our every need. His recommendations were spot on and he was attentive without being intrusive.

I had a disappointing experience at this establishment. The staff were unprofessional and unfriendly. When I visited with my 4-year-old son at 5:30 PM on a Monday, they told us they couldn t provide a table until 9 PM, despite having many free tables. It was clear that they were reluctant to serve us simply because we had a child with us. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and made us feel very unwelcome.

Updated review: the first time I went to Boom it had just opened, and the experience left much to be desired. The experience has since changed dramatically over the years. I ve been back many times now and everything is dialled in and great. Excellent service, great food and atmosphere. The room is beautiful and of course the view is hard to beat. Recommend to anyone for just a drink, brunch, lunch or dinner.

I have been trying to make a reservation for our office end of the year party via email and it has been a very frustrating task. I have sent our prefer date and time and was told to email back end of the month... should I email the 27th, 28th, 29th? I asked for a more specific day to contact back and was told anytime end of the month. I find the communication very passive aggressive and unhelpful, not to mention a waste of everyones time. I wish there was a more efficient way to book a party of 20+ people.

Fantastic place to come and great service and atmosphere. I would have given five stars except for the choice music which was a heavy beat almost disco, which was very inappropriate for the demographic. Most people using the restaurant were older Middle Aged and up. Not teenagers!

The Earl Grey Martini was a highlight was delicious and smooth. Sablefish was very tender and had well balanced flavours however Gnocchi was a bit too underdone/rubbery and didn t absorb much flavour. Anastra Pizza tasted really good but didn t have much Duck on it. Matcha cake was a bit overdone which made it a bit dry but the carrot cake and olive lemon cake was delicious! Overall good vibe, especially with the sunset in the harbour.

Our server Marina was excellent, I would highly recommend the steak and potatoes they were amazing!!! The view was beautiful, lots of big yachts. I will definitely be coming back.

Just stopped in for a snack, fries, and a Margherita pizza. It was delicious, The fancy sauce for the fries is really good. View was nice - except for the big yacht blocking the view.

The ambiance is really wonderful with the view of the harbour. Lunch was great. Everything is very clean & beautiful. My complaint is about going for tea there. Its awful. The black tea was incredibly weak, even with 2 bags, since the teapot is designed for loose tea.

Great Forno Pizzas

Food - I ordered one dish. The Îles Flottantes. I was interested in trying a poached meringue and ruby chocolate. The meringue was evidently made with granulated sugar. It had a gritty texture. Inexplicable. An Italian meringue, or powdered sugar could have resolved this issue. If there was one component to the dish that should have been executed well, this was it. The raspberry sauce was tart and one note. The crème anglaise was overly sweet yet bland. The ruby chocolate was too subtle to have any impact against the cream and sugar. Service - The waitress was personable and provided good service. No complaints. However, the Host needed phone number as well as first and last name in order to seat me immediately. Guessing Boom + Batten has had a rash of dine & dash guests. Still, it set the entire experience off on the wrong foot. I didn t care to argue this with the host, however it all but guaranteed I ll never be returning and never recommend this restaurant. As a rule of thumb, you shouldn t ask for any more personal information than is absolutely necessary. Atmosphere - Generic Catus Club vibes indoors. Played the strangest French Jazz Dance Fusion soundtrack. Beautiful location on the water with a great view. Great for tourists if you want to watch seaplanes land, and water taxis ferry folks around the harbour. FYI None of this can be seen from the patio, as the building blocks it. Overall - I should ve taken the request for my name and phone number as a sign and walked out. That s on me. And yet, it s perfectly fine tourist fodder. Wheelchair accessibility: Ramp crowded with planters, propped open doors for ventilation, and leashed dogs tied to the railing. One third of the dining room is elevated with 2 stairs, and no ramp. Another third is the bar and high-top tables. And so, there is only one third of the dining room that is accessible.

We always have a wonderful time . Never ever had a bad service not to say everything has been perfect but when brought to there attention if anything is going off course they have corrected or changed and always made it into a perfect experience. The staff are kind , thoughtful and very knowledgeable. The food is excellent. The location and veiw is one of the best for seeing and experiencing Victoria at its best . This place seems to have gone downhill since it opened. This was my third or fourth time visiting. In my reservation, I specifically indicated that it was our anniversary. We were given what I view was the worst possible table - right by the kitchen so all the waiters had to walk by us and with minimal view. We felt exposed and we couldnt really talk much because it was loud with all the movement around us. There were open tables near us that we could have been moved to, and when the guests arrived at one of the nearby better tables they said Wow, we didnt even have to ask for the good seat! despite my wife asking several times if we could move to one of them for 10 minutes before anyone else arrived. Clearly there were options but we werent a priority. I dont feel entitled to a better location, but I do feel it is better service to consider such things when someone indicates it is a special occasion. As far as the food goes, it was standard fare for the price level. My only real complaint was that they used truffle oil, which I find quite unpalatable. Lastly, on the issue of cleanliness, the mens washroom had dirty paper towels across the floor and the paper towel dispenser was empty (and seemingly broken?). It didnt seem like it had been cleaned or properly maintained. I really liked Boom + Batten the other times I went, but was unimpressed this time.

Had a really delicious dinner tonight- Chowder, Sablefish and Thai Mussels. Portions were good but the mussel order was huge! The views were awesome and our waiter was great. Highly recommend.

Amazing cocktails, good service perfect for a Sunset date

I went for brunch on my birthday my 40!! I was super excited because I love this restaurant, but I had the worse experience, not sure if was the host or the manager that came to my table and she was super rude to me. She approached to us very upset yelling at me because when I first got there I askes for a table for 7 people and she said we were 10 people, but we were 7 adults and 2 kids and a baby. We did not asked for chairs for the kids, but she insisted that we were 10 and I said we were only 7 thata it wasnt ok, and not allowed, she said I will passed this time, She was very mean and rude to us, and she said this can not happen again, and yes it will not happened again because I will never go back there, she ruined my birthday brunch, unfortunately, she made me feel very bad, my family is visiting from Mexico and i was so embarrassed because of her attitude, she was a bit racist I feel, so sad

We came for Happy Hour on a Friday. Started off great with fried chicken and Tuna tataki. Then it went downhill from there. Margherita pizza and Prawn pizzette were disappointing. Crust was very hard and difficult to chew. Smash burger needed salt on the patty because it was very bland. Hoping to erase all with the chocolate and caramel dessert however no luck. That dessert was not what I was expecting, to the point of confusing because I saw and tasted no caramel? Anyways, might be back to try the pasta because service and location were good.

My boyfriend and I recently stopped by this charming spot after a long motorcycle ride, and we were blown away. As a joke, he asked for an offensive amount of butter and they fully delivered! They brought out a massive serving of whipped butter that had us laughing and made the whole experience so much fun. This place really goes above and beyond to create a great atmosphere. But let s talk about the food wow! The chive scones are absolutely to die for. They re perfectly flaky, buttery, and packed with flavor. I could eat them every day! The rest of the menu is equally amazing, and whether it s for dinner, lunch, or just a quick coffee, I can t recommend it enough. Speaking of coffee, while I personally find their brew a little on the acidic side (which I think has more to do with the fact that they use Level Ground Coffee which is ot my favourite), it s still a beautiful spot to grab a cup and relax. It s quickly become my new go-to place for any meal or a coffee break. Between the warm and welcoming staff, the amazing food, and the little touches that make every visit special, this spot has completely won me over. I can t wait to come back again and again! #inlove

The restaurant was great, we were very excited to eat here on our vacation, it s on the water and had huge windows. Very disappointed more in open table than in the restaurant booked the main table table area but our reservation was listed as the Cafe sunset room, not a bad place but it s definitely a entirely different feel than the rest of the restaurant. The dessert was so good, the chocolate and caramel plate was incredible. I would have liked to see the fish portions being a little bigger, the pizza was very well cooked. Felt a bit overpriced for what we got.

Was out in Victoria for work and took a client out for lunch here, on his recommendation. The food was great, and so was the view of the Victoria harbour. Wait staff was super friendly and the prices were very reasonable. Would definitely go back.

I came from Vancouver to visit a friend in Victoria. We went to another restaurant and it didn t have the best service. We left and went to Boon & Batten . Our server Jade was absolutely lovely and kind. We had some delicious food and great atmosphere. I highly recommend this place to any other visitors. All the staff were lovely especially Jade. Looking forward to coming back soon.

We were really looking forward to our dinner as we ve always enjoyed our meals and consider it a special occasion restaurant. After this last visit, we will not be returning. The service was very slow, the food was nothing special and my daughter s pizza had a hair baked into the crust. For the price point, we expect a lot more in service, quality and taste.

I ve come here 3 times and every time I m more disappointed with the food. If you want a good meal don t come here. Beautiful setting and atmosphere. But don t come here for food. Pizza was god awful, chicken bowl was disgusting, tuna tartare was sad. And everything s overpriced

Just came here for few drinks and it was lovely. The service and the place were amazing. Our waiter was super kind and friendly. The place has a wonderful view and great atmosphere. Can t wait to come back and try their food. In addition, they also have a bakery. We tried the macarons and they were fresh and delicious. I high recommend this place!

Another terrific restaurant in Victoria

Very disappointed. The service was excellent and the decor very enjoyable. Unfortunately the food was not very good. There was barely anything included with the Burrata + Charcuterie, and the Tuna Tataki was chewy. For the main courses, the Nochi was basically mush and the pasta was just okay. The prices were very high, which would have been okay if the food was exceptional, which it wasn t even close to. Be prepared to spend a lot of money and good luck with the food.

Great location with beautiful views and Harborside atmosphere but the food was just okay and prices are very high. Ive never had ceviche that consists of a few pieces of shrimp and scallops with slivers of radish swimming in a bath of juice. A small dish that contained 10 taco chips was exactly portioned for the surprisingly small amount of ceviche for $23 which seems a bit ridiculous to me. Also, the seafood in the ceviche was mushy (under cured) and Ive never experienced that before either. I also ordered the meatballs to try to bounce back from the first dish and they were just okay. My wife did enjoy the kale ceaser salad and the cocktails were good.

Super classy place on the waterfront. Exciting food. Good prices. Amazing 1st date atmosphere. We highly recommend it.

My mom and I came to Boom by water taxi and what an amazing experience. I reside in Victoria so have been to boom many times, my mom was visiting from Ontario. I felt the need to write this review because of the service we received from Stacey at the bar. We came at a busy time, but were able to have a couple of seats at the bar. Stacey was very attentive, funny and his service was exceptional beyond above and beyond. I was truly astounded! We enjoyed some Appies and several cocktails and everything was amazing! The Tuna tataki was so delicious! I m not one to write reviews normally but since I work in the industry as well I wanted to express my many thanks to Stacey and of course all of the other restaurant staff who made our visit exceptional!

This place is like a hidden gem on the waterfront. The food- Excellent. My partner and I shared a number of dishes; Meatballs, fried chicken, pepperoni pizza, steak and fries. (It was Happy Hour, and the price was right.) Cocktails and mocktails were delicious and the service was fantastic- I didnt have to ask for anything, they just knew exactly what I wanted. I didnt have room for dessert, and I wanted some SO bad, so I am DEFINITELY going back for that. Also, very clean. I was so impressed. The kitchen looked so clean, and the cooks looked professional. 3 stars is only with consideration for the service. our server was very attentive and friendly. the food wasn t good at all. I actually didn t finish my meal. I ordered the fried chicken bowl. to start it has pretty much no flavour at all. the chicken was so heavily breaded and deep fried that it was 90% batter that tasted just like oil. it was awful and I think you guys should highly consider removing this from the menu. my partner got the smash burger and it was just okay. it wasn t bad but most definitely not worth $25. overall I wouldn t come back.

On this night we seemed to be an inconvenience to our waitress.

Starting out with the chicken liver parfait was absolutely worth it. It was definitely pretty to look at but I missed my chance for a picture gah! The display of the dish made it look like a small amount, but when sharing between two people it was more than enough for an appetizer. I ordered the full salmon eggs benny with a Latte. Normally when I say over-medium for a benny they still come in poached, but the eggs were cooked perfectly. The hollandaise sauce was tangy, light and felt more traditional than you would experience in diners or from a package you would buy for home. The restaurant is right on the water next to large clean yachts. The music was not overbearingly loud and had an upbeat modern sound. Long story short, this place gives off fancy vibes, so take advantage to show off to visiting relatives or friends and order the fancy things!

I went here with a friend and his parents. I appreciate having a loading zone available, as we had someone with limited mobility with us, and parking was limited. We asked for a different table, as we werent sure how a booth would work, and they were able to accommodate us. Plates were scraped clean, so the good was delicious. Our service was excellent, even responding to dad jokes for the seniors in our mix.

A place so nice, we had to go twice! Salmon Benny & peach mimosas with immaculate views?! Alex was the best server you could ever ask for. So kind & fast service. I am excited to visit Victoria again, simply for this spot alone. Thanks for the great service

Terrible service. Rude wait staff and ever part of my order was incorrect. Asked for an oat bar, was not provided and her attitude and response was you could have grabbed it yourself. From behind the glass, I asked?. She hands me an energy bar. Not what I ordered. Asked for a lemonade, received a purple drink. Asked for an apple tart to be warmed, brought out 10 minutes, never being warmed. Staff were rude every step of the way. Chicken sandwich was good but for $28, it should have been incredible. Views are beautiful but it would have been nice is the service matched the views.

Disappointingly rude service at bill time at lunch today. I m visiting my family in Victoria and decided to take my young niece for a nice lunch before shopping for her birthday present. After we d finished eating, the server left a receipt slip on our take out box .she left our dirty plates. Shortly after & while I was in the middle of a very personal conversation with my young niece, the machine was slammed down on my table as she stared at me expectantly. It was beyond inappropriate. Even though I was rattled, I politely said I d pay a little later because we were in the middle of something. Not 15 mins later an unfamiliar server comes over saying in a mocking tone, that he was sub contracted to have me pay. It was unnecessary, rude and unprovoked. Certainly left me with a bad feeling and my sweet niece was uncomfortable too. A bummer of an ending to an otherwise nice lunch. I will not return. Victoria has a lot of friendlier restaurants

We had brunch here yesterday. Excellent atmosphere, views and very good service. The food wasn t up to a 5 star standard - the hash browns were not home made (they were triangular shaped, premade fast food quality) my over easy eggs were almost hard and they didn t have avocado. The sausage wasn t great. The spicy fries were good. I d give this another try though, as the location is great.

We came to Boom & Batten for lunch today and we had the cauliflower mushroom risotto and the steak sandwich. The food was delirious and the atmosphere was very pleasant. Our server Ceilia was excellent, she was very professional and kind. I will be returning for both the food and her service.

Went here on the recommendation of my daughter who lives in Victoria. She is celiac. The menu was so amazing. We all decided to have four different dishes and we re eating off each other s plates. I can t wait to go back! The location is also so beautiful! Thank you!

We had a blast in their fantastic private room. We were a group of 10 people who came here to celebrate a team success. We ordered appies, their family-style steak, and seafood tower for sharing, with one main dish for each of us, and of course some wine/drinks and desserts! The food is delectable and the place is beautiful!

Cardboard pizza with almost zero toppings was a rip-off.

The food is consistently good, and the location and facilities are lovely, but the truth is the service is inconsistent and can be quite inattentive, and my last experience stood out as quite poor. I followed up with the restaurant and they offered a giftcard to return, I chose to accept it, and 2 months has passed and I never received anything or heard from them. I have come here and had 6/5 experience and I have come here with 2/5 and I wish that the service could be relied on to bring better such that I can always expect the same. What a dream!!! Fantastic location, phenomenal tasting dishes (appetizers, main and desserts) and compliments to the Bartender for making one of the best Makers Manhattan Ive had on the North American West Coast. My husband LOVED the sablefish. OMG your home made pasta is sublime!!!

Really nice restaurant. I really like the cocktails, presentation, etc. It was really nice , the view from our table was amazing too. However qe had to wait 1 hr to get our food after entrees, so it was a bit of a long wait but other than that everything was great! Definitely recommend it

I think there are things that need improvement. The charcuterie plate came with the meats stuck together like from a supermarket package; they should be separated and arranged on the board as if they were sliced in-house. These details make a difference. We waited 30 minutes from our appetizers to our mains, which is too long. I ordered a striploin that was just okay, with mash, jus, and beets nothing special for $49. The dish lacked effort to make it look more appealing, you know? Microgreens or some infused oil, lack of colors and height. The duck was fine but came with bland lentils, salt needed, a lot. I don t know, these things make you feel like you re paying for the place rather than the food. The kitchen staff looks very young, all of them, but it s a nice resto/pub/pizzeria with a chill view.

We came on a Friday for happy hour. We ordered the mai Tai and it was okay. A little too sweet and didnt have enough pineapple in it. The smoky pepperoni pizza and Margherita pizza were disappointing. The pizza wasnt chewy enough and not crispy enough on the outside. The pepperoni had lots of pepperoni on it. Wouldnt order these again The prawn + pesto pizette was much better. It felt like the dough was almost fried. The flavour was much better The tuna tataki was disappointing. The tuna didnt taste like much but I did like the alfalfa sprouts The burger was really disappointing. The beef patty was dry. The bread was boring and the condiments were a bit lacking. The dessert Mystic forest was the highlight of happy hour. There wasnt enough matcha flavour but I liked the blueberry mousse with the blueberry confit. The chocolate crumb added that saltiness to it. Overall the service and ambiance was great. It reminded me of a cactus club or milestones but with a great view. The food was pretty boring but the view makes up for it. The dessert was pretty good though. Tip; I saw a lot of people order the meatballs. Maybe try that or the fried chicken or the fries from the happy hour menu instead of the items I got (oh but do get the prawn + pesto pizette)

Very modern decor with a subtle marine theme complementing the fabulous water view. Wonderful ambience with a great menu and tasty drinks with a twist. Love this place.

Can t believe it. Went out of our way for a drink at Boom and Batten. Plenty of seating at the bar and we were told wait 5 minutes because they didn t want to overwhelm the bartenders. There were more than 12 empty seats at the bar and there were 3 of us. If we were told it may be a wait for the drinks we would have been ok. Instead we were told to stand and wait

Stopped in for a quick bite to eat. Despite it being a Saturday evening, they still snuck us in at the bar which we were very thankful for! We werent super hungry, so we decided to split the burger. It was pretty great, but what through me off was the charge for the kitchen to split the plate for us? I know times are tough, but after spending a decent amount on cocktails and beer, I was surprised at a charge for a second plate. Great atmosphere, and incredibly friendly staff, thanks for having us! Ill definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

We decided to try the Boom and Batten after walking by it numerous times. A pleasant atmosphere if not a bit noisy as the lunch crowd arrived. We both chose breakfast items for lunch. The standard breakfast of Eggs and Sausage and the Classic Eggs Benedict. Both came with hash browns which were done differently and very tasty. The back bacon on my Benny was very salty and spoiled the dish a bit for me but it was still good. We didnt have any alcohol as prices for wine were pretty high.

Although the food and drinks were fine, the service was not good. When my group ordered a specific beer (starting with P from the beer menus first line), our server brought us a non-alcoholic drink (also starting with P and listed on the first line of the non-alcohol menu) instead. We politely informed her of the mix-up and pointed out the beer we wanted, but she continued to bring the wrong non-alcohol drink despite our explanations, even though we had not opened the non-alcohol menu. While we understand how such mistakes can happen, the servers attitude was extremely disappointing. She appeared upset and did not address our concerns, which made us feel uncomfortable. Her response was just grabbing the drinks from our table with an aggressive attitude and not saying a word. This mix-up, along with the servers attitude, left us feeling as though our requests were not being understood. I used to love this restaurant and always enjoyed the atmosphere, but this experience has made me hesitant to return. Better communication and attention to customer orders would greatly improve the overall dining experience.

Ive been here many times, I met the premier here. I am so shocked to have had to deal with a verbally abusive hostess in front of my son and partner. The cooks and servers are top tier and then they put the most rude repugnant hostess ever in front of them. Its an atrocity. I will never be back

Quite average food, but that s the theme in Victoria. Average food for a very steep price. I would only return and give B&B another whirl simply for the view and ambience. My better conscience really can t justify their prices for their portion sizes. Take yourself to Finn s and thank me later :)

The absolute best place to eat in Victoria. We ordered the Hawaiian pizza and fish & chips. The service was exceptional as our server was very friendly and checked up on us multiple times. We didn t like the virgin pina colada so she replaced it for soda drinks. Food

Very forgettable! The view was spectacular, but so is the view from blue crab. My tuna was very bland as well as my mimosa. The menu was nothing great whatsoever. Our food arrived before our drinks. We had to remind the waitress that we actually ordered drinks. Food

Visiting Victoria, we were told to try this great restaurant with a harbour view. The food tasted good, the atmosphere was amazing. But the front wait staff did not communicate well, seemed shy and awkward. Kept saying I ll have to go ask someone . We did a walk in, and saw them set up our table but we continued to wait 25 mins before being seated at it despite asking. They do not have high chairs for children, which feels extremely unwelcoming to families. The main portion I got of the Seafood Tagliatelle was very small, certainly did not feel like a meal. Thankfully the waitress we got was its redemption, she was lovely. Get some high chairs Boom and Batten! If minors are allowed, high chairs need to be provided. My sister had to instead bring in her stroller to sit her baby in, I don t know how having a giant stroller in your restaurant is better than providing high chairs.

Nice restaurant and view. Foods were well prepared, Sablefish was cooked perfectly although light on seasoning. Cocktails and desserts were well crafted.

Good happy hour food and drinks menu fairly priced. The GF fried chicken starter was nicely presented and the chicken was tender and crunchy. Cant beat the atmosphere, right on the water, and the beautiful view. This is a favorite of locals and always busy. Expect to wait for a table during peak times on sunny days. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are clearly marked on the menu. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options are clearly marked on the menu. Parking: Beautiful views from the outdoor patio and from inside as well.

Ill start by saying that the food here was incredible. I had the spicy Hawaiian pizza (not spicy at all, but that was ok), and my partner had a chicken bowl of some sort. Both were delicious. We had a male server, though I didnt catch his name. He was funny and engaging and did an outstanding job. There were 2 reasons that this place didnt get five stars. 1. The table was dirty. It had some old food stuck on it. The server came straight away with a cloth to wipe it but it didnt all come off. He was busy so I didnt persist. 2. My wifes wine was brought with a plainly quite dirty glass. It had lipstick on it from the previous user. When asked for a new glass, or server apologized and got a new glass from the bartender, who made a show of rolling her eyes. I dont know if it had to do with us or something else that was said but it annoyed me. All in all, a good experience with outstanding food and I would definitely give them another chance.

Great food, great atmosphere, great service! Wonderful experience alltogether. A server had hurt herself and thus forgot to take our orders and checking in on our table for a while. However they were outstandingly apologetic, brought us some free snacks, and provided our first round of drinks free of charge. All servers were very friendly and professional, the food tasted great, the portions were much better than elsewhere with these prices. Loved it. Only improvement could be some more vegetarian options.

For our anniversary we chose Boom and Batten for the view of the Inner Harbour, however the view and service received that day was disappointing. My wife booked online 2 weeks previous and when asked if we were celebrating a special occasion, chose anniversary and booked a time of 5:30 pm. Upon being greeted by the hostess we were informed they needed the table back by 7:30 pm. (Table beside us was also given the same message). What if we wanted to stay longer? Isnt table management the responsibility of the restaurant? Despite indicating this was our anniversary, at no point in time was this acknowledged. Dont ask the question if youre not going to do anything about it. For 20 minutes, our views of the Inner Harbour were stellar, that is until a 152 ft motor yacht pulled into the berth directly in front of the restaurant cutting off our view and that of 90% of other patrons The view is part of your marketing strategy, so this was a huge disappointment. My wifes burger was excellent, my crispy duck was uninspired and not crispy. Will not be returning or recommending Boom and Batten.

Not only does this restaurant have an amazing interior and exterior decor, but the staff are also super friendly, professional, and attentive (considering about 75% of my visits have been with large groups) . The food is also really tasty and packed with flavours, on different occasions, Ive had the fish, the pasta and the chicken bowl also and they have all tasted delicious, the only issue is the portion being a bit small, Ive found that I have to always get a side of fries from here after my meal or get home and have to find a light meal to fill me up. But overall the restaurant is a great place to have dinner for either a large group or a personal date

The location is perfect for a drive to, as it has plenty of spots to park around the corner or nearby or you can park by the Delta Hotel and go for a nice walk before and after. This is one of the best places in town for a romantic dinner, we had a bunch of appies, some cocktails and desserts and everything tasted great! Make a reservation though, specially if you want a seat with a view.

We had a work going away lunch yesterday and that s the only reason I came back to boom again. My wagyu burger was cold, dry and very shrunk. I was looking for a thick juicy burger but what was put in front of me was a sad-looking bun with a thin patty. Very disappointing. Beautiful space, lovely atmosphere, delicious bakery. If only the food matched up all that!

I don t know if it s because it s the end of the night but the service was absolutely disgusting! Waited 20 mins before someone come to take the order, did not even introduce themselves, slammed the drink on the table/didn t even announce themselves then turned straight to the other table. Mind you it s not even that busy in here. I ve been here before and it was amazing but today was absolutely not worth me spending my money here.

The food service and ambiance were all great. They accommodated our request for a window seat but there isn t a bad table in the house. Enjoyed watching seals play in the harbour while we ate. This restaurant is right on the water.

The overall experience was great. We ordered only desserts and tea/coffee. It was great that all desserts were home made. We will come back again for sure.

Me and my wife went there.it was happy hour and we ordered bunch of different things like salad felafel prawn flat bread and tuna.all of ofthem are delicious.prices are not bad on happy hour for the location.wel ado had bottle of bubbly wine for 30 bucks.our server was Molly m(sorry if I spell her name wrong)really tall server:).she was kind and attentive but not bothering level.we are super happy with her service.also other ladies I did not get their name were so kind to talk to us if we are doing ok or need something.and last but not least the hostess inside was kind also.it was Tuesday around 3 pm so she can get credit for being nice to us to show diningroom.we ll definetly come back.last visit Maddie was super nice.its hard to find attentive server but not bothering level nowadays.great job Maddie.

Came here for a birthday meal when visiting town. Location is great - right on the water. Decor is stylish. Service was good but not excellent -- our waiter sometimes not noting who had ordered what. Considering that North American restaurants routinely solicit 18% and up service charges the service should be perfect, not just good. Food was mostly very good but I deduct a point as the portion size on my halibut main was absolutely miniscule - I estimate there was about 150-160 grams uncooked weight of fish for a main listed at $42 on the menu.

We had a lovely anniversary dinner last week. There is a new menu and I found the food much better than in previous visits. The sablefish with gnocchi was outstanding. My husband s steak was proclaimed delicious- and he s a picky carnivore! The appetizer buratta charcuterie was good but unexceptional for the cost - great mustard. Had the best ever espresso martini and a reasonably (for a restaurant) bottle of Côtes du Rhône. Aside from the great good, ambience and view- the highlight of the evening was RJ our waiter. Not only was he knowledgeable and friendly- his service was just great! Allowing us time to have a great relaxing experience (not a super busy night, luckily) We expressed our thanks to the supervisor Kayla - also very charming. B&B has always been my go-to for great coffee and scones- been awhile since I ve been for dinner- they have really upped their game! And you cannot beat the view in my opinion. Thanks RJ for a memorable evening!

Great location. We used to think it may have been a bit uppity, being located by the new marina. Wrong, great vibe, nice cocktails for happy hour. Pizza is a bit thin but good.

Sat in the cafe area for dinner. Friend who never sends anything back sent back way too salty pork belly. Another was unimpressed with her dry chocolate dessert. Server was very slow, as was the food service itself

This is truly the most underwhelming experience that Ive had dining out in a long time. My husband and I go out for dinner every weekend and we typically sit at the bar. Boom and Batten, while not in our regular rotation, is a place we go to every so often and have always enjoyed it. We decided to go tonight as we hadnt been in a while and, per usual, were seated at the bar. It wasnt clear to us who our server was - or if we even had one- but the entire evening involved us waving/speaking loudly to literally get anyones attention to order food, another drink, get the bill, pay the bill. . you get the idea. It was exhausting. We didnt tip as we honestly didnt feel like we had been served in any way. In a city with so many incredible restaurants where we routinely have exceptional service, I dont see any good reason to return here.

Beautiful spot, delicious food, great atmosphere, some of the best servers Ive had. We have been three times and always enjoy our experience. Highly recommend!

Had dinner here awhile back, food was amazing! Service had a hiccup in the beginning as no one knew who was serving our table but that was sorted out soon. Would definitely come back!
