West Coast Tapas + Wine Bar
Bray's in Downtown Victoria, has stolen our hearts! With two visits under our belt, we can't wait to come back for more. The standout star is undoubtedly their mouth-watering pork belly - a must-try! But what truly sets Bray's apart is the trifecta of exceptional food, impeccable service, and a warm, inviting ambience. Each dish we've tried has been expertly crafted, and we're excited to explore more of the menu. If you're a foodie like us, add Bray's to your list - you won't be disappointed!
It's a lovely place for a Drink & Tapas.. the food was fresh & made to perfection. Every dish we tried was just amazing!! They even had Truffle Popcorn - SO good!! The service was great, Taylor was so pleasant & welcoming! They have outdoor and indoor seating, which was nice.
I ate at Bray’s with two friends on Monday night to celebrate my 26th birthday in style! We had an excellent server who gave great advice on the tapas style menu and was super attentive all evening. We ate the charcuterie board, zucchini salad, scallops, gnocchi, burrata and toasted bread. Each item was brought out individually and everything was delicious! The portion on the scallops was small (only two scallops) but otherwise we found each dish was worth the cost. A free dessert was provided to celebrate, and we chose the raw cheesecake.
Beautiful location and space! The food is perfect and the cocktails are wonderful! The bartenders are lovely and knowledgeable. Perfect date night or friendly meetup spot.
This meal was actually the highlight of my trip to Victoria! Had the gnocchi and pork belly, everything was cooked perfectly and oh my god I will forever dream about that meal. My server was super nice and friendly!
Bray's is a fantastic place for tapas in the summer! The atmosphere is great, and the interior of the restaurant is fancy. The host and servers were friendly, and the service was not slow despite it being busy. The cocktails were excellent; both the Shaft (5/5) and the Banana Bread Before Bed (5/5) were great, though a bit strong. All the tapas were good. The scallop was exceptional (5/5) - the asparagus purée and pickled asparagus harmonized beautifully with the bone marrow jam, which tasted almost like pulled pork. The shishito pepper (4/5) was a nice nibbling option. The gnocchi (4/5) was very soft, almost like boiled tater tots (even thoughI hadn’t tried boiled tater tots lol) The spot prawn (3/5) felt a bit undercooked, but it captured its sweetness well, though I still think it needed to be cooked longer. At $5 per prawn, it seemed a bit pricey. However, I would definitely revisit Bray's.
My wife and I came here for our one year anniversary in May 2024 and had an excellent dining experience. We were graciously treated to complimentary prosecco to celebrate our special occasion. We came on a Sunday evening at 5pm and the restaurant was quiet, which was perfect for us to have a special evening. We were seated at an isolated table in the corner making for an intimate dining experience. After convincing my wife to trust the restaurant we decided on the Chefs Choice and it did not disappoint! We greatly enjoyed the dishes selected by the staff for our dining experience and our waitress took into account our preferences perfectly! I would highly recommend going this route if you chose to dine here. In addition to the amazing food we both greatly enjoyed the drinks. I ordered something off the cocktail menu and my wife enjoyed some delicious white wine. First time in a while that a restaurant offered for us to try the wine before making a final choice. Much appreciated! I would definitely come back here for another amazing tapas dining experience and would recommend it to anyone who asks!
Tried this place this evening for the first time. We were not disappointed! Service was outstanding. Food was fresh, packed with flavour, and flawlessly cooked. The gnocchi with pine nuts, kale, Grana Padano, and lemons, was some of the best I’ve ever had. The Salt Spring Island Mussels were mouthwateringly good. Wish we had ordered another plate of bread so we could’ve soaked up the rest of the white wine and butter broth. Pork belly was stunning, and the soy glaze was perfect. Cocktails were well worth it. Can’t wait to head back, especially during patio season!
The server was very knowledgeable and friendly
Wonderful staff and the food was delicious! Had the Chefs tasting menu and it didn t disappoint.
Oh wow this place is beautiful! Atmosphere 10/10. Went here for tapas and that s what we got! Lovely selection of small delicious dishes, my fave was the spot prawn ceviche! The wine selection is huge, we sat on the patio and watched the sea planes land all while enjoying the sun tasting so many wines! Will be back asap!
beautiful patio and cheap happy hour with delicious food
Beautiful space. Our favourite dishes were the carpaccio, squid, broccolini. Amazing value! Service was exceptional.
Stopped by w wife quickly when cruising, so were tight on time. The staff was very accommodating and food very refine and delicious. Food
While visiting with friends in Victoria, we popped into their local favorite. The staff were over the top friendly and service oriented. This, combined with the menu choices in beverages and food, made for a wonderful and memorable experience. We actually dropped in the next day for a quick Hoyne to say hello and thank them for the hospitality the night before. Smiles and handshakes all around. This is the kind of place where the manager comes over to welcome you and see if they can enhance your experience in any way. A must visit when in the BC Capital! Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access!
We had an exceptional evening in Brays last night. The food is off the scale, delicate thought through dishes of quality. How squid can be so tender is beyond me! Equally the service was personal and knowledgeable without being intrusive. Would definitely recommend the cheese selection to finish off and make sure to ask for a glass of port to go with it.
This a cute little wine bar, eatery near the Johnson Street bridge. The staff were lovely. The wine selection is good and we liked the charcuterie board
Our latest find. And we are glad. Really thoughtful, well prepared, interesting, tasty and reasonably priced for the quality food and cocktails. The menu is small and has seasonal updates. Great patio area with heaters which is appreciated now and even dog friendly. Inside has a cool vibe. Service is friendly and accommodating. We love it and hope you give it a try. A restaurant this good and trying this hard deserves patrons.
I was really excited to try here. I went by myself before I was going to meet up with others for event. I didn t feel welcome being solo. As I watched the other guests getting served, I was not a priority. I had every intention of eating dinner, but I had a glass of wine, an appy and left. I wanted to like this place but I won t be back unless I have people with me.
Had a date night there and the whole dinner was great! Showed up early to our reso and had some great cocktails at the bar while waiting. Then for the dinner we did the chefs choice with the wine pairing and it was delicious! Will be going again.
A really exceptional experience. Food is delicious and the service to match. Will be back for sure.
Amazing patio! Best cosmos in town, hands down. Food
Great spot to share amazing dishes with friends and fam
Great location, including the outdoor patio. Could do with a change of the music to something more relaxing.
A must visit in Victoria
Wow this chef curates amazing small plates. I loved the scallops, gnocchi and salmon dishes a lot. A great selection of cocktails as well. Can t wait to be back :)
Great food. The chef has a clear passion of delivering fresh food with complex flavours.
Prob my fav restaurant in Victoria right now. Love that they have so many yummy vegetarian dishes. Great patio and their Spritz s are delish! And great service too!
What anamzing place with good Wine and small dishes. Also the background music is greatly chosen and not too loud u always can have a small chat Food
Humboldt squid is my favourite of our tasting menu! The tastes are so well balanced and the texture of squid is still there, not too soft not too hard, perfectly cooked. Barton is such very sweet server, he even stole the recipe of the bacon bone marrow jam from the kitchen for me lol And very reasonable priced!
Awesome place for tapas! Expensive, but when arent tapas expensive? Get the scallops!!!!! Chef knows what hes doing - my husband and I ate ourselves stupid here!
Probably the best meal my partner and I have been to in Victoria. The staff and food were incredible!
Enjoyed the exquisite squid. Very nice seafood and vegetarian selections on the menu.
Great food! The squid was fantastic, perfect cooked. Great spot for summer to seat on the patio.
We arrived in Victoria for 5 days and have been to Brays 3 times! Staff are amazing special shout to Paul, Taylor and Sam. Thanks so much for making our drinks and food and providing a great place to chat and chill. Food is stunning and the gnocchi is as good as the gnocchi made by my husbands mum in Italy. Just soft delicious and melt in the mouth. Mussels delicious and scallops so good you don t want it to end. The potato s with the garlics sauce are to die for and the broccolini should not be missed! When we come back we will go back 10000%
First rate drinks and service. Highly recommend.
Unexpected and delicious food, excellent cocktails and the best mocktails Ive had on my journeys. The staff here were so friendly and professional. Great experience all around.
Fabulous tapas style restaurant, with great atmosphere and service. We had 10 different dishes between 4 of us, and all of us loved all of them. Creatively presented, delicious combination of flavours--very innovative experience!
Wonderful little patio with great food and good people watching .. the crudo was so good we had seconds The nectarine carrot salad with goat cheese foam was Devine Chef made crackers were really good and beef carpaccio.. yum Looking forward to our next visit
The cocktails and staff are delightful. Paul, the cocktail, master crafted an amazing spicy nectarine margarita. It was our first time to Victoria and when we come back, Brays will be a must. The atmosphere, either outside or inside, was an experience. While we didn t eat here, the menu looked divine!
The best food we had in Victoria. Great service, food and drinks.
food has been better w/ every visit. always get the risotto. patio is a dream . Food
What a great place for innovative small bites. Perfect with wine. Its not Spanish but it is still tapas.
Wonderful delectable tasting experience!
Everything 5/5. Salads are great here if you want something light, and the broccoli dish. Great Aperol spritz drinks. Food : 5/5
Its an hot breeze Monday afternoon enjoyn our happy hours here in Brays. Top 3 taps so recommended: *Fish crudo *Shishito peppers *Black bean dip Dog Friendly patio, friendly Staff and best vibes.
My husband and I had an amazing dinner experience here. The atmosphere is chic, the service was seamless, and the location is excellent. I didnt rush to try this place as initially the menu was quite meat heavy but despite being a fairly short menu the choices were mainly vegetarian/pescatarian. The waiter recommended about 3 dishes per person. We ordered 4 dishes and the baquette and found that amount for our smaller appetites perfect. The dishes are small - really made to share between two people or eaten solo - but it is much easier to order more than to be restricted to larger servings. Every dish we ordered was a hit...visually appealing and delicious. The cocktail I ordered was very good. The bill came to about $150 for the 5 dishes and 3 drinks which seemed quite reasonable.
Easily my favourite restaurant in Victoria. Went in and sat at the bar and just keep going back. Had the chefs choice on our last visit and left very satisfied. Service is always on point.
One of the absolute best dining experiences we ve had in town! The service staff is super attentive, the decor is beautiful and the food exceptional. The carpaccio is the tastiest one I ve found in Victoria and the burrata salad is an absolute must try.
My friend and I tried a lot of dishes and drinks, and everything was fantastic. Our server, I forget his name (20 yr old blonde man) was lovely, and his suggestions were impeccable. Cant wait to go back.
Excellent place for a fine dining experience. Its a must for those who consider themselves foodies. The ambiance is perfect if youre looking for a place to relax and chat with friends or family.
We found Brays late on a Tuesday and came in for a 845 dinner. Paul was an amazing host and made our experience even better. All the food was great, especially the perfect, light, pillowy gnocchi. Paul knows wine and cocktails. He even had us try a banana digestif that surprised us with its balance and thoughtful construction.
The location, patio, and interior nice. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was quite tasty. However, the portion sizes are comically small. For two people, you would probably need to order 6 or more dishes to feel any semblance of full. The prices seemed okay until the food arrived and was a fraction of the expected size. For example, the $18 scollops ended up only being two, each less than an inch across. The $14 charred carrots for were only four baby carrots. I would have preferred to pay more for each dish but get a reasonable size. I can t imagine home many dishes you would need to order if your party is bigger than two people.
Barton, our server was a gem, the location on the patio is beautiful and the food is lovely its a bit of an unknown place in Victoria but its worth a visit!
Lovely little wine and tapas spot with great drinks, food and service. We enjoyed fresh oysters and the yummiest strawberry cocktail. Highly recommend!
Amazing tapas, amazing service, absolutely will return for the pork belly.
Amazing food! Amazing service! Amazing vibes!
Service is phenomenal! Absolutely loved the recommendations and the staff know their stuff. Great non-alcoholic cocktails and food was outstanding. Will be a new staple. Highly recommend for sharing some plates or for a quick bite on your own.
Some of the best sun in the afternoon in Victoria!
Went to Brays tonight for the first time and I was seriously blown away !! We tried several different tapas and each one was incredible! Mouth watering flavor combinations that were so different and fabulous ! This , people , is a MUST experience !! Dont walk...run ! You have to try this place !
Bray s was such a wonderful spot to stumble upon! Their shareable tapas-style menu is SO good and it s clear there is lots of thought and effort put in to each dish. I wish I took pictures but we could hardly wait to try each dish. We had a group of four and shared 6 plates. Such a fun dinner experience! Their outdoor patio is also dog friendly and the heaters + blankets make it very cozy. Highly recommend checking it out!
Spectacular service with excellent food and drinks and a very nice atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone!
Been twice now. Both times staff were very attentive and knowledgeable, and everything we ordered was delicious. Highly recommend!
After some last minute decisions we ended up here for my birthday supper and it was amazing all around. Our server Taylor was lovely and the food was absolutely delectable.
Had an amazing time at Brays. The gnocchi was beyond, 10/10 recommend. Special thanks to Paul for taking such good care of us!
Love this place! Definitely our top pick for local wine bar, small plates and also late night happy hour! Amazingly friendly and helpful staff, and tend to always have a nice rotation of wines.
Awesome experience - food and service are amazing. Hope to come back one day P.S. Try the risotto, thank me later :) Food
Brays is hitting on all cylinders. The pork belly dish and scallops are spectacular and our service was sincere and engaging
We had an awesome time! The flavours were delicious, and the service was great! We were there on a Sunday night and it was very quiet, which was lovely. Will be trying again on a busier night to see if it stacks up when we re not the only ones to serve
We had an amazing time at Bray s. The Chef s selection gave us a chance to try many different dishes, and all were fantastic. Taylor was attentive and friendly and really made the experience memorable. I would highly recommend Bray s!
This is our new favourite spot! Amazing food, great service and a friendly, hip vibe.
Three of us went for happy hour/ early dinner. This place is a gem. The ambiance is lively, the service attentive, and the food sublime! Each bite was completely delicious. We enjoyed the oyster mushrooms, scallops, bison tartare, baguette and charcuterie. It was hard to pick a favourite as everything was equally tasty. Highly recommend!
Best, most petite menu - you d love it !
Such a welcome addition to the neighbourhood!! The cocktails are fabulous and the food is absolutely delicious. We had such a fun date night. Can t wait to come back soon!
Amazing location , cocktails, service, and food! Can t wait for their patio! Definitely a must try and welcomed new cocktail bar for the downtown core! Absolutely will be back
Three of us went in and ordered four plates between us and a drink each, before we even got through half we had eagerly doubled our order. The food is fresh, savory, and consistently the perfect bite. The atmosphere fits anything from a great first date, catch up between friends and fine dining. The service was personable yet still very perfessional. You can tell those that work there put a lot of thought and feeling into everything made within. Absolutely loved it.
Feels like it has been there years! Really impressive attention to detail and the lemon olive oil cake is amazing
Wonderful spot for drinks and small plates.
As a first review I am happy to give it a 5. Service was excellent, the view on the patio was incredible for people watching. The gnocchi, scallops, almonds, and olives were wonderful with our tasting of three red wines to improve our tasting ability. We tried a Cab Sauv, Malbec, and a Syrah. We WILL be back!
We would definitely go again for oysters and drinks! Great location and love the atmosphere:)
Great food, nothing bad on the menu! Will be coming back for sure and recommending everyone to try it out! Very good!
10/10 enjoyed the experience and the food was amazing! Definitely will be back and would recommend to others. Favourite dish was the scallops and the hot sauce for the oysters was really good.
Atmosphere and service were both pretty good but the food was quite disappointing. Got the tuna, pork belly and carpaccio. The portions were quite small and quality and flavour were lacking. All dishes left something to be desired.
Great spot, excellent wine List. Oysters and food were delicious. This will be our date night go to.
Great service, great wine and absolutely incredible food! As out-of-towners who wanted to try a selection of BC wines they allowed us to have smaller glasses to create a wine tasting/flight - perhaps worth having this as a full-time menu option? Definitely get the prawn ceviche!!
I wish I took pictures because the food was absolutely stunning! Just stopped in Brays after work to get something to eat and expected it to be dead at 3:30pm. The place was already bustling! Amazing Decor and wine selection was enough to make a sommelier blush, but the real winner was the food. Every bite was perfectly seasoned, every item painstakingly paired. To die for. The wait staff was great, neither myself or my date waited long for anything. They were kind, courteous and well spirited. Onto the food, Being a tapas place we ordered many different items and they did not disappoint! Both of our favourites were the Beef Carpaccio. Having tried carpaccio in Italy, I am always hesitant to bother with it in Canada but it was absolutely not of this world, you could have told me it was made with the wings of angels and I wouldve believed it. So good. The Sous vide pork belly was near perfection and lastly the desserts were a great note to finish on. You cant go wrong with any of their mixed drinks, theyre priced about the same as the rest of Victoria. But they were top tier. Its worth making a special trip to try this place, definitely recommend eating on the patio if its nice out! Beautiful view! Parking: The restaurant is nestled in the corner between the inner harbour and a beautiful flower garden. The building itself a historic brick building of notable history. Great spot! Wheelchair accessibility: Its all wheelchair accessible as its all on a single level.
Exceptional experience in all aspects. The culinary artwork, fantastic service, and ambience, has made Bray s our go to spot downtown, for any occasion.
Beautiful patio, great people watching but overall Bray s was just fine for our group. Came with a party of 3 and although the dishes are priced well and meant for sharing, the portion sizes are barely enough to feed 1 person. I would have gladly paid a few more dollars so each of us could have 2 carrots each or not have to split a scallop 3 ways. No modifications are allowed because the kitchen has prepped to reflect the exact menu which is a bit frustrating if you have any food restrictions. Drinks were pretty standard and although the flavours of dishes (especially the sauces) were very thoughtful and presented well, after a drink each and 5 tapas between us, we left hungry and went to End dive s and had the best drinks, food and service of the trip.
Excellent food with great flavors and presentation and great service. The portions are are about 25% smaller than most places in town with similar dishes at similar prices
Ate here last week and it seriously changed my mind about eating out in restaurants again. The atmosphere in this place was incredible, even as early as 3pm it was already bumping on a friday. The Drink selection was huge and presented a never ending selection, and lastly the staff were seriously amazing. Super courteous and helpful and not once did I have to wait, even when the place was busy. So I feel I should say this is a tapas and wine bar so my partner and I had several dishes to try out. We started with Beef Carpaccio and never in my life have I had carpaccio this good. It was cut thin and seasoned to perfection. The black garlic aioli and Grana Padano was a perfect touch to add a full flavour to this dish. I could seriously eat this everyday. Next up we had one of my favourite foods, scallops! Now I have to say, I have eaten scallops a lot and a really stand out scallop for me is rare. However, Brays scallops were thee best scallops I have had to date. I had to ask what part of the dish was made from as the flavour was not of this planet. So the scallops and asparagus were perfectly cooked and seasoned as youd expect, but on the side was this red & brown jam, unsure what it was I tried it and my word. ... . I have never had a flavour like this, it was Bone Marrow Bacon Jam. Putting that on the scallops changed my life, if you go to Brays GET THIS! We had the Miso Glazed Turnips & Roasted carrots next. Again a beautiful more rustic flavour, cooked to perfection. The habenero and beet puree added a nice rounded flavour profile as well. Lastly we decided to get dessert, The Lemon Olive Oil Cake w/ Buttermilk Gelato... . This was incredible! I had never tried an olive oil cake before this but I am glad we got it. It was thee perfect end to a perfect meal. I will be going back as soon as possible! I also learned when talking to the amazing chef that they rotate part of the menu all the time depending on whats in season so its always going to be a fresh experience. Go there! You wont regret it!
Food, service and atmosphere fabulous . The server very helpful with my gluten-free , vegan diet. Defiantly a place to go back to!
I could not say anything bad about Bray s. We tried the entire menu of tapas and the majority of the cocktails and have not be disappointed about any of it. They also have tons of wines on tap. The prices are great, and the service is phenomenal. Our server was Laura and she was on it and so attentive. The Olive Oil Lemon cake is also a must try!
Wine for happy hour was alright, though the wine selection could have been better on the whole. We ordered the lemon cake, baguette and cheese. The lemon cake was so-so. The cheese was a disaster, the main issue being serving size, though the presentation was off-putting as well. I get that cheese is expensive, but the solution to that isnt to serve what amounts to four crackers worth of cheese--just charge higher prices and serve an appropriate quantity.
As locals who can walk to Brays, we were very excited about trying it out, as it is fairly new. It has a nice patio in a convenient spot, and we found the service great. We were quite disappointed with the food, and this really seemed like a management problem. We had a 14 dollar cheese plate that had three small pieces of cheese (no Crackers or garnishes), totalling less than 2 ounces. I had a glass of prosecco that was flat and tasted more like cider. We were also shocked to see the truffled popcorn at the table next to us, served in what looked like a margarita glass, for 12 dollars. I will give them the benefit of the doubt given that they are new and will try them once more, but I do hope they make some changes...
Modern and elegant new spot in the Janion building with harbour views and a large patio for sunny days and people watching. Thoughtfully decorated interior with a lush vibe. Extensive options for wine by the glass. Great to share a few small plates/tapas with friends. The pork belly dish and scallops with bacon jam were stand outs. Bread is baked in house and served with a savoury herb butter. Outstanding service - very attentive and knowledgeable. And of course, you can enjoy a well crafted Shaft here - youre in Victoria, after all. Vegetarian options: Vegetable forward menu
Great staff for sure, top notch service and decent food. Will be returning and ordering something different, the half dozen Fanny Bay oysters are to die for tasty.
Cozy ambiance, a great place to come share tapas with friends! Amazing wine list and cocktails!
Had a great dinner here. You have to be prepared to expect small plates, and that its not Spanish tapas. Theres a good selection of west-coast styled small plates of different food, with some really innovative flavour pairings. Id say each dish is best shared between two people at most, and we had 8 plates between the two of us and left pleasantly full. Wonderful wine selection, and very scenic location.
Brays has quickly become a favorite spot for so many reasons. Number 1, of course, is the food. Small, beautifully presented plates of exceptional quality local food. Have been twice now, with plans of many more visits, and tried almost everything on the menu... and loved EVERYTHING!! Number 2 is the selection of wines, all by the glass and ranging in price with not a bad one on the list. The cocktails are perfectly balanced as well ( once upon a time in mexico is a must try) and served without pretension by the lovely, and very knowledgeable bartender Ian. The decor is tasteful, the bar stools are comfortable and the view is gorgeous. I would love to keep this secret to myself but I cannot...you simply must go here!
We are visiting for the day and were recommended this restaurant by a friend, and every dish was incredible! Highly recommend the zucchini small plate and the cheesecake.
One always has to be suspicious of SO MANY perfect reviews by users that only have ONE review. So be cautious of the google rating system. Especially since the joint is so new. Having alerted other users to this fabricated review society, the place is serving up some creative and beautiful, flavourful plates. Tapas might be the wrong word as there is no spanish influence. Small plates for sure. $18 for TWO seared scallops is a bit much, seriously. Yummy for sure. Good service, average happy hour. We wish them luck, nice location!
Im Janion Guy. Sadly, there have been several failed attempts at this iconic location and I certainly wish the new operation well! Prices are a bit high for the amount of food on the plate. Nice location throughout the year, especially with the new City of Victoria berm work to lower traffic noise. I just cant afford to nibble away and super small plates. As other have said, they are not Tapas in the traditional sense of the word. Delicious though so we might be back!
We just visited Vancouver Island on vacation and had a day in Victoria, so we stopped into Brays for drink (or three). The food was good. The wine was good. The cocktails rocked!! This was the real standout of Brays. They have put together a collection of great cocktails that feature spirits from Vancouver Island. They can also mix up most of your favorite cocktails in local fashion. I had a fantastic corpse reviver #2 with local spirits. I am surprised they are not putting their cocktails front and center in their marketing. Ian, the manager, was super knowledgable about the local spirit scene. If you enjoy great cocktails and have a locavore bent, Brays is unsurpassed. Dont miss it!
The combination of exceptional food, friendly front of house and excellent location makes this a great spot for a date night or a fun spot to kick your night off.
Best happy hour wine prices, food plates a little light leaving you wanting more.
Settled into a shady terrace in a perfect Oceanside location, we were wisely guided by the recommendations of our brilliant server Graeme to enjoy the earthy Roasted Carrots with eggplant purée and lentils, and perfectly Seared velvety Scallops grounded with a rich, umami hit of bone marrow bacon jam. We added the delicious squash with a cloud of tangy green goddess and finished off with ceviche enjoyed on crisp homemade potato chips. Go here and enjoy, you will be thrilled.
The service and ambiance are both amazing. The food was good but my only gripe is the portion size (hence the 3 stars). Cheese selection $14 - we got 5 different soft cheeses to enjoy. I was very excited about this. When the plate arrived it was literally 1 tbsp of each cheese dolloped on a plate. Probably less than 100g of cheese. No crackers, spreads, olives, pickles or bread (the typical accompaniment on a cheese plate). I had to order a baguette separately for the cheese $6 - had 4 pieces of sliced warm baguette accompanied by some herb butter. Also yummy but for 4 chunks of baguette, not worth it. We also ordered the Seared Scallops $18. We got 2 VERY small scallops in a delicious bacon jam. The flavours were delicious but I m not sure I d go back with the cost for the portion sizes given. The flavours were great, view is lovely, but I was shocked about how little you got. Maybe they would consider revamping the cheese plate and portion sizes. There are pictures posted by other reviewers of some the dishes I noted. It will give some reference as to the portion sizes. Wheelchair accessibility: Ground floor access
Every dish we tried was outstanding. Will be back to sample the rest of the menu!
Exceptional food and Sam our server was exceptional. Great selection of wines and a great patio!
Clean, bright, fun. Great staff and service, amazing food, and fantastic drinks. Cant wait to be back.
Bray s is the ideal spot for fantastic cocktails, wonderful vibes, and delectable small plates to share! The host provided excellent service, and we really enjoyed conversing with him. The food and drinks were beyond amazing. We ordered the Tofino Time and the Once Upon a Time in Mexico cocktails, and they were beautifully crafted. The shaft was also awesome! In addition , they have a wide selection of wines to try! If youre a wine enthusiast, this place will blow you away with their extensive selection. We shared the Fanny Bay oysters, and shishito peppers. They were delicious. The Romesco Gnocchi with Feta was my personal favourite! The combination of flavours, and presentation, along with the soft and just crispy texture was delightful. Thank you to the skilled chef, and team who created such a beautiful menu. The restaurants aesthetics added to the overall charm. Well surely be back! Highly recommend!
Food, cocktails, and service were all excellent. Sat on the patio in the afternoon and really enjoyed the location. Interior of the restaurant is beautiful as well.
Just seemed like a great place to wait and watch the world go by
I came here with my friends when it first opened and it was fantastic! The owner came up to us and asked us how everything was which was an extra touch! I now came a couple months later with my family and friends and was helped by a fantastic server named Barton. He was great and knew everything about the menu, even knew more about the drinks! Bray s never does less than impress me about the class of food and service. It s one of the best restaurants in Victoria for good eats and drinks and would highly recommend anyone to come and enjoy their rotating menu for a great night! Thank you 1000 for always living up to expectations!
Went for a family dinner, and all 6 of us were very impressed. Forgot to take pictures, but excellent food and service. Portion sizes were generous for the price!
We enjoyed our night a lot. The pace, service, quality and originality all stood out for us and we would go back in a minute.
Amazing food, lovely service, great experience. Ignore the reviews discussing small portion sizes. It s Tapas - it s meant to be small plates, and the portion sizes were completely reasonable for the price. Tasty non-alcoholic cocktails were a bonus for the non-drinkers in the group. Would go back in a minute!
Great service. Delicious cocktails. Very tasty sharing plates. Dope spot.
Great service, great food, and a fabulous atmosphere.
My husband and I visited Brays last night just to check it out. We were pleasantly surprised by great service, a beautiful atmosphere, and nice wine selection. It was late, so we only had cheesecake and two glasses of wine, but we will definitely come back for their tapas! We went after 9 and their happy hour wine price was pretty amazing. Ended up paying just over $20.
Fantastic
Let s just say, it s a Monday. In the hottest time of year. Stuff isn t going your way and you need to buy an assured loading pass to get to Vic from Van. Your air bnb is good, but feels stuffy. You re hungry and you got the lil ferry so avoided all that line up and screaming kids. Only to discover Bray s west coast tapas is beside your crib for the night. All you want is a nibble and a nice glass of wine. Bray s turned my day around, with excellent bites, gorgeous carefully selected local wines, and Barton, the chill, but super knowledgeable host. I will be back, for celebration, because I can t wait to share this find with friends and try more on their menu. (Ps - oysters were perfectly chilled and accompanied by the best hot sauce of my Laiiife!) also view is bomb. Vegetarian options: Thoughtful selections! Try it Wheelchair accessibility: Just roll in from the sidewalk to the patio or inside dining area.
Price compared to service and portion is off ratio. Tapas is for sharing, unfortunately the portions dont lend themselves well to a party greater than 2, making the meal very expensive for what it is. The food was ok, not awful, I would say that nothing was memorable. The staff seemed annoyed by questions regarding allergies and ingredients as we had a couple severe allergies dining with us. Probably wouldnt go back, too many other amazing Tapas restaurants in Victoria to choose from with a much better vibe, and greater percieved value and service. Would not recommend.
We dined here for our anniversary. Really enjoyed the delicious tapas-style food and the cocktails/mocktails. Very nice vibes. Vegetarian options: Lots of delicious veggie options!
This was our first visit and we will certainly be back! It was one of the best dining experiences we have had in Victoria. The cocktails were creative, complex, and memorable. Each plate delivered to the table was inventive and absolutely delicious. The service was professional and friendly. And you hafta have the truffle popcorn!
We loved having Barton as our server! Amazing drinks, great recommendations and wonderful energy! We will be back with friends weekly
Food was hit or miss and drinks were great. The carpaccio was close to being good, but way too much chilli oil. Couldn t taste anything else. Scallops were good but small and cost 18$. I get it s a tapas style menu but 9$ a scallop seemed expensive. Food
Cocktails were good but food was overpriced for the portions. The menu was advertised as good for sharing, but there wasn t really enough to share each dish. As mentioned, the scallops are good but there are only 2. We were a group of six or so and we all agreed we would come back for a drink but not necessarily food.
What a great spot for after work drinks. Really good happy hour drink prices, excellent service, and delicious tapas - the gnocchi is outstanding.
Highly recommended.
Scallops are delicious. We love this quaint place.
Wonderful! Staff was friendly and welcoming, food was outstanding, atmosphere was chill and modern. Inventive, fresh and flavour forward. We ll be back soon!
Love this place! Easily my new favourite restaurant in Victoria - exceptional food and service in an unbeatable location.
What a great wine bar!! Will be coming back for their happy hour :). If you re in Victoria-be sure to stop in-great food, ambience and service!
A fabulous tapas bar. On our recent vacation we found ourselves coming back to Bray s for their Happy Hour. An Italian wine for 6 bucks, we ll take it! The food is simply outstanding and presented beautifully. If you go try the zucchini and squash. The ambience is great, very open and lots of light. Music is perfect for the location. Simply a great spot.
This was my first visit to Bray s and I will be back again and again! The location is perfect, we sat outside and watched the world go by on a busy Monday afternoon. Our server, Ian, was amazing, and best of all the wine selection and menu options were excellent and very reasonably priced! Something for everyone; we have the Rose from France, and at happy hour it s $1 per ounce! Where else can you find that in Victoria? We enjoyed a toasted baguette with onion butter, a cheese board, a delicious beet salad and beef carpaccio! Everything was delicious, very well priced, can t say enough, everything was perfect!
We had such a great time, the food was DELICIOUS and the service was impeccable! Would definitely recommend
Amazing restaurant, had a great experience when I ate there! The food was incredible and the staff were really friendly. 10/10 would recommend!
Fantastic food. Delicious drinks. Great service, good happy hour. Cant complain! If your hungry definitely grab something to eat before hand, have a snack here though as it is most definitely all delicious food.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS PLACE! Amazing dishes, the menu is so unique and locally sourced. Very creative dishes! The atmosphere is fabulous and the service is even better! Top notch place! If you love food and gorgeous flavours dancing in your mouth this is definitely your spot! Also most forgot the Patio has the best view, the water is right there Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: You can avoid gluten and dairy here too Wheelchair accessibility: One level for patio dinning and restrooms
We have done tapas in Spain, Greece, Turkey, Vancouver and several places in the USA. This was incredible! Best weve ever had! Taylor explained the dishes perfectly. We were still surprised by the great presentation and flavors!
We were so pleased with everything about this place. The service was wonderful and the food was spectacular!!! The charcuterie board, the pickles, the gnocchi and dessert were all incredible!!!
To say this is an amazing establishment is an understatement. Value for money, check. Incredible staff, check. Atmosphere, check. Chef s menu, check check. Drink menu, check check check! If I could marry a venue, I would say I do to Bray s.
Barton was our server and because of his attention, detail, and keen enthusiasm of taking care of us, we had a wonderful evening. 100% recommend.
If you love small plates that are sumptuous. Bray s is for you. Barton our outstanding server helped us navigate the interesting menu. They were able to accommodate our special and dietary needs. Barton is clearly passionate about customer service. We are coming back !
What an absolutely amazing place, if you re looking for a nice place to get some amazing food, fantastic service with a cozy atmosphere then I couldn t suggest a better place to go and a special shout-out to their absolutely wonderful bartender Paul who has made my experience there even better each time I go. When it comes to drinks not only do they have a wide variety of drinks from wine to cocktails but every drink I ve had there is so tasteful and well thought out!
LOVED the Brays Board and the lemon olive oil cake is unreal. Ian behind the bar also made our night
What a great new place! Paul behind the bar was a wealth of information about the food and wine! The food and service was amazing! Try the scallops, best I ve had in a long time!
Fantastic fresh seafood. Great service in a very relaxed atmosphere.
A lovely evening spent with friends. The food was delicious, perfect for sharing, great presentation. Everyone was welcoming, friendly and fun. Was so refreshing to go to a place where the bartender was willing to play and come up with delicious cocktails to meet each of our tastes. Well done! And you cant beat the view! I think I have found my new favorite spot.
This place was incredible!! Loved the happy hour! Great bartender, the food was to die for. Beautiful place. Had some great laughs.
