it is what? it is.
Came for dinner and this did not disappoint. The atmosphere is super cool, the food is amazing! You can tell the chefs know what they’re doing. As a restaurant owner myself, I respect how clean their kitchen is (yes I’m posting a pic of that because it’s impressive)…seriously, these guys crush it! Also I can’t recommend the split pea hummus enough, that is one of the best dishes I’ve ever had!
We had a fantastic dinner and experience at End Dive. We sat at the bar and Todd took excellent care of us. Wow was the food exceptional! And…the wine! I absolutely love their attention to detail and their desire to support and create community. Their food is primarily from local farms so when you eat at End Dive, you are supporting our island community!
Quality all around. Suitably pretentious in the best way 🤓 I do wish the cocktail was a tad stronger on the spirit front, but clearly artisanal in craftsmanship and presentation. The food was also lovely with ample portions - the pesto pasta dish was my favorite this time around. I’m definitely coming back!
Incredible, creative dishes. We almost over-ordered, but our server was really good about talking through the menu with us. Normally at a shared plate kind of place I expect the portions to be much smaller but these were generous. Our cocktails were really fun and interesting too!
We had the pleasure of spending the evening until closing at End Dive on a Saturday night. It was late, we were hungry, and End Dive had come recommended. It certainly didn't disappoint. From the handcrafted beverages to the incredible food, it was a relaxed, delicious experience from start to finish. Staff are casual, knowledgeable, and attentive. Vibe is definitely for the younger than us crowd (50-60), but we felt welcomed. We ordered the black pearl oysters, scallops in potato chowder, and the smoked cod salad. Hands down, the best food I've ever eaten. Two of us including alcohol and tip was a little over $220. I highly recommend and we will definitely be back the next time we are in Victoria.
I don't normally leave reviews but I had to because we had such a great experience. Coming from Metro Vancouver, we've been really disillusioned with the food scene that's supposed to be "cutting edge". In reality, so much of Vancouver "fine dining" has been resting on laurels and lacking creative fire. "end dive" was the perfect balance of creativity of pairings and precision of flavour. There was not a bad dish that we tried, and we ordered seven between the two of us (the server kindly warned us that it was too much, but we wanted to try a lot because the menu was so enticing). I had one of the best salads in my life at this restaurant. Loud music but we weren't bothered by it. However, good to note for those who prefer a quieter dinner. The menu is constantly changing, so the one on the website is meant to give you an idea of what's served. The server said that the restaurant is meant to be a vegetarian/pescatarian restaurant, so it's vegetables and seafood on the menu, no land meat. We spoke to the chef after dinner because we were so impressed, and he was humble, passionate, and caring for his staff. I'm very excited to see the future of "end dive".
Great spot! Stopped in for "cheap time" between 4:30 and 5:30 and was easily able to grab a bar seat. I sadly bypassed the cocktail menu (which in hindsight was the move) but did have a cheap, local sipper. Being full from lunch I wasn't in the best shape to sample much but did try the pickled egg & the salmon belly off the cheap time menu (salmon is also on main menu) and the recommended charred cabbage off the main menu. The highlight was the salmon belly, an absolutely stunning dish. The charred cabbage was very good but the portion was massive. It is definitely one for 2+ people so sadly I couldn't manage much of it. Overall though, an amazing vegetarian/pescatarian spot with excellent cocktails and atmosphere. I look forward to returning! With the menu changing so often (daily?) I'm not sure if I'll ever run across that salmon belly again...
Stopped in for a drink one night and ending up staying for dinner because everything was so good. The cocktails are amazing, as is the food. I definitely recommend trying the carrots and grilled romaine if it's still on the menu. The pasta was also delicious. I only wish I had more! The service was also fantastic. I highly recommend
We ate the salmon belly, albacore tartar, chanterelle toast, and smoked beets. Everything was incredibly delicious!
Turned away at the door because our sleeping baby wasn t the vibe . We ve eaten here many times over the years and this was the dumbest interaction I ve had here. I asked if we could pull up at the bar. Server said, I ll need to check , then quickly pivoted to, It s our license but kids aren t really the vibe. We re not a family restaurant. We were well-aware this isn t Denny s. I ve literally eaten here before while kids under 10 were at the next table. This seemed incredibly arbitrary at 6:30pm on a Thursday with at least six empty tables in plain sight. Especially wild given there was a disruptively loud woman yelling while seated at the corner of the bar while we were talking to the server. So, at this point I m not sure if it was our kid or that we re a queer couple, but we were turned away for what seemed like a made-up -on-the-spot rationale. If y all are a liquor-primary business, it doesn t prohibit children if they re with adults. And we were welcomed openly at a similar calibre restaurant moments later. We were happy to give them our business after this little debacle. The final insult was the server shouting, Maybe come back for a date night. Unaware that we were on a date night for my birthday. This was a really unkind heteronormative comment. This place is not kid friendly, nor was this interaction what I would consider a safe space for queer or trans folks. If you don t want children in the restaurant, please put that on your website and also explicitly here in your description. It currently does not state that anywhere and is a waste of time to hear it at the door. Kid-friendliness: Kid-hostile. They don t want them in the restaurant.
Outstanding food, drinks, desserts - and great atmosphere! Vegetarian options: Lots of great vegetarian options. Food : 5/5 |
Endive is a must visit. The food is amazing. The cocktails are good as well but I would recommend ordering food.
We popped in here for a cocktail while waiting for our dinner reservation at Eva and loved the atmosphere, the drinks and the service! We didnt eat here but the food at the table next to ours definitely looked and smelled awesome.
Complex flavours interwoven with creative pescatarian mains, elevated vegetables and fresh homemade pasta dishes. Stunning cocktails and natural organic wines and bubbly in an intimate playful setting.
This is now my second time at end dive, and they haven t disappointed. The food is great but the cocktails are the showstoppers. Cocktails are expensive but are unique and have above average presentation so they don t feel overpriced. Cool aesthetic and attentive staff. Definitely a bit dim and loud if that s not for you. My first visit was two months ago and it was cool to see an entirely different menu; only complaint was that they didn t have all the amazing things I had last time! It was ok, it forced me to try new, equally as delicious things.
How often can you say the carrots are the best part of your meal? The I can t dance cocktail was a very close second, made by an outstanding bartender, but the food punches you in the face with flavour. Some of the most inventive food, perfectly executed that I ve had in a long time.
Amazing cocktail list, locally inspired menu, and excellent staff. Perfect for a late night eat/drink.
I love end dive!!
If you want to taste exceptional cuisine, go for it! Great vegetarian dishes as well as seafood and cocktails. Real explosions of flavors in the mouth, difficult to reproduce at home and affordable prices! Lovely staff and warm atmosphere
Drinks are good but food is always a miss for us
Look at these fancy pants drinks! Check out this tasty ass food! A friend of mine told me about this place that I had to check it out, now you do! The service was exquisite, love the decor. The food is deductible, work of art. Opened by a couple old-school punks with some kick ass band in the city here. I think the name is Bad Hoo. You gotta check this place out. Only bad part was I couldn t find them on social media anywhere, take advantage of the free advertising guys! Keep going, keep growing!
We came on a Thursday evening based on a recommendation....Wow! What a great experience! The food was excellent- hi-lighted by the sokeye salmon and the clams! Service was efficient and thorough, while the background music created a great vibe! A great representative of Victorias food scene!
The worst customer service I have ever experienced here. Me and my friends were served oysters that weren t fresh. We could not finish the rest of the oysters we ordered and sent them back and informed the staff that it tasted wrong and it was not fresh. We asked for the bill and noticed that we were still charged for the oysters. After a pointless back and forth conversation with our server she basically said that it wasn t her call and that we would still have to pay for the oysters we didn t even finish. A half hour after leaving the restaurant all of my friends felt sick to their stomach.
DON T BOTHER. We were treated as an inconvenience because we indicated that we might just get cocktails so were seated crammed in next to bar service station where I was bumped repeatedly. Dishwater splashed on the cocktail from bartender cleaning up multiple times. Food was salty and inedible. Response from bartender who was acting as our server when told her after only consuming two small bites was it s new . No offer to have it remade, discount or remove from bill. We had heard mixed reviews about this place and it seems the negative ones were correct.
All around amazing. They can do magic with vegetables! I ll be back often
Often a menu as eclectic and interesting as End Dives would scare me off (I have fairly limited experience in these arenas) but the crew here are so sweet and helpful. I usually sit at the bar and Todd has helped me navigate the menu every time. A+++. Every time I go I tell myself to go more!
Go out of your way to eat here. The chefs are truly gifted. Anything you order on the menu will come out even better than you expected. They only take reservations at 5 pm otherwise you need to walk in. We would travel back to Victoria just to eat here again. The quality of the food tastes like it s an undiscovered Michelin Star restaurant. The biggest surprise is how low the prices are. I almost think they should charge more for how good the food is. In the meantime go out of your way to eat here and it won t cost you a lot. https://som.mom
So good! We live nearby and I ve been meaning to try this place. Cocktails are creative, tasty and worth the price. We had the black pearl oysters and the salt spring mussels to snack on. The oysters were so meaty, yet creamy and the mussels were some of the best I ve had in my life. The creativity with flavours and high quality ingredients are exactly what I m looking for when I dine out. Service was great, everyone is very knowledgeable and attentive to your needs without being over bearing. There s music, candlelight, and high quality tasting food and service in a relaxed, casual environment. Highly recommend!
Innovative and super-delicious menu.
I really wanted to love this place and tried it three times. I do tend to prefer more traditional food options, but appreciate the restaurants in town striving for more. This to me is among Stage, Tourist, Nowhere, in stretching the scene beyond simple farm to table, Italian, or tourist food. What s great: cocktails, creative vibe, interesting people around. What falls short: the menu. Not the food per se, but the fact that almost everything is experimental. For example, you can spend $100 a head here and leave hungry. An assumed safe bet menu option could arrive and be too salty, too small, or too weird to be an entree. But then you realize that s everything on the menu! Nothing really hits the spot and now three times I ve left confused; is it me? Is it them? Why am I unsatisfied? I think that some elements of the service can improve for the price-point: food was slow, paper napkins, waiters not very personable. Im sure many do enjoy this place but, for me, its not keeping up with Vics incredible food scene.
I am not the type to take pictures of my meals, so a write up will have to suffice. This was by far the best restaurant I have been to in ages. I was amazed how much time and preparation went into the meals we ordered. The drinks were off the hook delicious and also looked like they were created with the utmost care. This place is a must check out if you live in the area or are just visiting. Free street parking a block or 2 over. We will be back many times. Thank you
What a delightful spot. The only regret was that I couldnt order more dishes because I got full! Cocktails were really good and they have nailed the wine selection. This will be a go to every time we go to Victoria.
This place has literally been a point of discussion amongst my friends and I, because we think this place nails all of the essentials of an awesome restaurant. The atmosphere is great, with good music, and cute setup inside. The drinks are fab, with signature cocktails and natural wines. Even the mocktails are delicious. Every dish Ive had here has blown my mind with how great it tastes (plus they look divine). And the service is SO good. The servers are really attentive and welcoming, and one of them remembered me from me visiting only once before! This has quickly become my favourite place in Victoria, with so much quality in every area!
One of the more exciting meals I ve had in recent memory. Excellent, attentive service by waitstaff. If you re on the fence, just go!
Very Vibey. Cute date spot, great cocktail selection and very interesting menu items. I really enjoyed my time there and would definitely come back
Good cocktails, good music. They played the whole first Betty Davis album which is a banger.
If I could put in a negative stars for this restaurant I would. My experience was very very very VERY underwhelming. I was expecting so much more from end dive. Just like a can of soda left out for a few days, this restaurant fell flat.
Amazing , tastebuds didnt know what hit em.
The food at End Dive was some of the best Ive had in years! The dishes were so creative and every bite was delicious. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly and helpful in suggesting menu items. The menu changes all the time, but we had the tuna tartar, roasted smoked beet salad, and one of the pastas. Also had a couple cocktails which were beautiful as well!
dinner was so good we started talking about getting married
Awesome cocktails, great food, amazing wine selection. Service on point. Lovely atmosphere.
Randomly walked in intrigued by the green cartoon marquee, and stayed for one of our best meals in a while. Like a great gourmet gastro pub in London. Cocktails were awesome. Nettle Tortellini and the tuna ceviche required bread to mop up every bit of sauce and crumbs on the plate it was so good.
Cocktails were fantastic, nice vibe and great food.
I was blown away by this restaurant. The food and drinks are not only excellent but they are creative and have wonderful flavour profiles. Service was great too. Highly recommend!
We were recommended this place by someone on a chairlift whilst skiing in Whistler. We were not disappointed! The food is quite something else. Completely unique and unusual, beautifully prepared and the tastes were just delicious. The best food weve had in our 6 week trip to Canada.
Everything was fantastic. Creative, fresh, delicious. What more can you ask for?? Service was perfect and the vibes were great. I cant drink alcohol and the mocktail they made me was so tasty. We cant wait to be back!
As a former New Yorker, I love the cozy seating and bar-level volume at End Dive. While it may be a bit loud for an intimate conversation, it s the perfect place to catch up with a pal over some really excellent food. Their flavors are exciting and feel hearty without being heavy. There wasn t one bad bite, and the cocktails are nice too. Sweet, knowledgeable servers, overall just a great spot in Victoria. I m excited to go back!
Absolutely delicious!! And great for vegetarians!
Best dirty martini I ve ever had. We came during happy hour which made the small plates a bit more reasonably priced. Everything we had here was very good!
Took my adult daughter for dinner, we shared a few dishes, every bite was a celebration of flavour! So delicious! A very upbeat vibe, loud but still able to talk. Highly recommend. Matt the chef has created something special here.
Thoughtful and intentional. Lots of details in the minimalist space. We sadly had dinner reservations elsewhere but stopped for a cocktail and were sucked in. Ended up having 2 cocktails and 2 small plates. Everything here is detailed oriented and executed perfectly. If we lived here they would never be rid of us.
There s some really innovative ideas going on with the dishes and cocktails at end dive. A great mashup of loud music, leafy greens and luscious sauces. They oysters were super fresh and shucked with precision. It s dining on the finer side, but in Ferngully. Portion sizes are massive, so be prepared.
came here for dinner with some friends. I didn t realize it was a non-meat menu. Definitley got to try something i wouldn t typically seek out but it was interesting. I thought the dishes were slightly underproportioned so I left hungry unfortunately. But the mascot is cute and the inside is decorative for sure
Top tier cocktails and food
The food taste like ocean!
food is fun. always tons of different stuff on the menu. sometimes it tastes great! sometimes it tastes just good. never does it taste boring. drinks are superb. service varies from fine to fantastic. drinks are superb. atmosphere is lively and excited. drinks are superb.
For a restaurant that has a predominantly vegetarian menu the chef should perhaps learn how to cook vegetables. We ordered a parsnip dish that arrived completely undercooked. We left the mostly uneaten parsnips and the server asked if we didn t care for them. I explained that the parsnips were hard as a rock and not cooked. They still charged us $17 for a dish that was inedible. Terrible customer service and an absolutely awful dish. Don t bother
The ambiance is nice. The drinks are okay. The pasta was pretty good. But they dont know how to cook vegetables... We ordered a few appetizers and a main pasta dish. One of the appetizers was the cabbage (savoy) which was recommended by the server. On presentation it looked great, but as my partner and I dug into it we realized that they put little to no thought on how to properly cook a cabbage. It was basically raw. We tried soldiering through it, but it was awful. My recommendation: learn how Chinese chefs cook with cabbage, and see how incredible the ingredient can be. The reason this review is a 3, is because the pasta itself was good. However, alongside the pasta was a bunch of purposeless leafy greens. I initially thought it was garnish, but it covered half the plate. I then ate the greens and they had no seasoning or sauce. Straight out of the bag. Overall, they were intrusive and took away from the pasta.
fantastic ambience, great food, and lovely service. Quickly becoming our favourite date night spot downtown.
awesome spot. Natural wine selection very good. Service great and attentive. Only had the puff pastry but it rocked.
slay
Went for a birthday dinner (no reso) and got a great seat at the bar right in front of the chefs. We were able to see which dishes we wanted to try next as we sat enjoying cocktails. Highly recommend the grilled Napa cabbage and the cocktails were all delicious (and pretty). Our server was lovely and the atmosphere was great. Will definitely be going again and would recommend to those who want something that feels special without completely blowing the budget.
Ok the food was super delicious. All share plates but I might go back in and eat the stuffed pasta all by myself...no sharing !!! It was hard to really understand what the combinations might be like when you read the menu but nothing disappointed! Print could be bigger on the menus but their was help in deciphering what everything was!!
The food and drinks were wonderful! Took a visiting family member here & we were blown away. I recommend ordering family style so you can try more than one dish.
so yummy! cozy date night spot :) excited to go back
end dive came highly recommended and didn t disappoint. Amazing cocktails on the rotating menu invented by the house wizards, and the menu is equally imaginative and quirky. Come prepared for an experience and be bold with your choices. You won t be disappointed!
The food I was able to eat was delicious, the drinks I had were fine to underwhelming. The experience overall I found very disappointing. I dont drink alcohol. There is nothing non-alcoholic on their drink menu, and when I asked I was told they had one option. I ordered it and it was fine. Then my partner asked them to make her something creative and non-alcoholic and it was meh. I have some dietary restrictions and there is no info on what is/can be GF/DF/Vegan/etc on the menu (and a lot of words we had to ask about). When we asked about making a dish cheese free we were told the kitchen doesnt do modifications. As a former line cook with some dietary restrictions I found this frustrating as I have made countless orders modified to make sure someone could enjoy their food. I left feeling like this restaurant wasnt welcoming for me, and had made some intentional choices to make it that way. If you drink alcohol, eat everything, and have $100+ to blow on dinner, you will probably really enjoy this place. If you need any sort of accommodations Id skip it.
I m just going to say it. I think this is the best restaurant in Victoria. It s such a welcome addition to the restaurant scene here. The drinks and food are amazing. Especially the pasta. All the pasta. The service is also wonderful and very welcoming.
Hidden gem
Favourite fun place to wine/dine in Victoria BC. Playful menu. Creative space. See and be seen vibes.
End Dive is a must-try when in Victoria! It is a seafood and vegetables based restaurant with terrific cocktails and has a cool vibe. The quality of the food and service was exceptional. Please don t miss out on this hidden gem. We also liked the location. We dined there on Friday evening and didn t have a reservation but the host managed to get a table for two right away which was truly appreciated! End dive takes a family-style dining approach which in my opinion, is fun as you get to try as many of their savoury dishes. It is perfect for sharing especially in their warm and relaxed atmosphere. First, we ordered the Black Pearl Oysters. They had a good kick to them as it was spicy! The Squash dish served with hazelnut dukkah and lentils was very creative and delectable. The pink scallops, clams and mussels were fantastic. Their in-house focaccia bread with the cultured butter were truly appetizing especially if you have some left-over sauce from the pink scallops dish. Our minds and palates were blown away by this dish. Wow! The Garganelli pasta was exquisite. The depth and flavours of every single dish we had was flavoursome and phenomenal! Taking everything in consideration, I totally recommend dining at End Dive. We would return and try other dishes off their menu. It has a pleasing atmosphere plus the food and the service is excellent!
Really cool place near chinatown. Popped in for a quick drink and snack before dinner. The salmonbelly was delicious. Really enjoyed our drinks as well -complex flavours with nice blending. Super fun atmosphere~ ended with the icecream which was rich and not too sweet. Love the crumble on top to give it texture and contrast
Drinks where great but the puff pastry was too salty and terrible we didnt even finish it
If youre looking for a cozy place to eat fancy pescatarian dishes while drinking the best cocktails youve ever had, you need to try this place! The staff are WONDERFUL.
Stopped here over the weekend for the fish fry. Best fish burger Ive had in my life. Those guys behind the counter know what theyre doing.
The food was amazing, but the music was so loud that we couldn t get out fast enough. Why do places think we come to yell at each other and listen to their bad music? I definitely will not return or recommend.
Great cocktails, fun setting. Thanks team.
Had two incredible dishes with amazing flavour profiles (the beet dish with pralines and the sweet potato with blue cheese) and bad advice cocktails! Everything was sooo delicious! Excellent service! Thank You! Food
Ask Tod to just make a drink with your base of choice and End Dive into the best drink you will have in a lovely spot with great vibes!
I great small plate spot. If you sit at one of the spots along the bar you get to see the master chefs whip up seasonal seafood, pasta and veggies. I d recommend everything but especially the salmon belly.
Very cool, hip vibe, great space and wonderful to see a young, local business succeed. Our food was bland/underseasoned. We asked for salt and pepper, and were told we couldnt have them because the dishes were already properly seasoned. I was speechless. There are reasons people need additional seasoning - certain medications, health conditions, etc - but even absent that, if I want additional seasoning for my food, thats my business as Im paying for it. Ive never experienced this before. Our server, Morgan was very good. Glad we tried it, wont be back.
A really creative and unique menu and excellent cocktails! @Victoria_Foodies
The food and drinks here are both creative AND delicious. Absolutely no regrets with anything we ordered. For a tasting menu-style, the portions of each dish are generous. We came with a group of four and each had plenty from every individual plate. Service was immaculate, the food came out quickly - which wed requested due to our schedule - and I left wishing we could have stayed longer to eat more!
This was such a fabulous find we stumbled upon. Cocktails were amazing and the food was superb. Cannot recommend it more. Staff were super friendly. Would definitely eat here again!!
Fantastic cocktails and food. Full stop, just fantastic. One of the best places in Victoria in our experience. Also wonderful people and service. Can t recommend it enough and will definitely be back.
This hip little place just outside Chinatown made some of the best cocktails I have had. Friendly, attentive service and lovingly made inventive food to boot. Definitely try when you re in Victoria.
Worth the wait! The drinks, the food, the people, heck even the the washrooms were fantastic. Easily one of our most favourite restaurant/bars of the entire trip. All the dishes we tried (and saw being prepared since we were sitting at the bar) were very fresh, well thought out and made with the upmost care. The drinks were so beautiful it was almost a shame to take a sip (although you ll be very glad you did). All the servers were awesome and really seemed to enjoy what they were doing and the people they work with. All in all a great vibe. Not to be missed.
Cocktails were great!
The food, staff, and ambience was incredible! I wanted to lick each plate clean - the flavours were so yummy. So delicious! My favourite food and drinks since forever!
Absolutely a must Go! Food, service, atmosphere top notch! A fun place to have a great night out. Food
If you are reading this, let me tell you this - JUST GO. We ve been wanting to check out this place since it opened and everything was beyond delicious. The menu is super well thought it makes you want to try it all. The flavours and the technique was 10/10. I simply can t say enough good things about, seriously. The food was great, but so it was the service, the cocktails and the atmosphere. Light-back atmosphere + top-notch service + fine-dinning like food = Hands down my new favourite in Victoria. Congrats to all the team and thank you: Victoria was in desperate need for a restaurant like this. Vegetarian options: The menu is fully pescatarian
Absolutely fantastic food. Fresh, inventive, local, beautifully presented, unpretentious and perfectly balanced, layered flavours. Not to mention very generous portions and extremely reasonable prices. As a long time Victorian, I m supremely impressed. Possibly the best meal I ve had this year in the city. I highly recommend! Cocktails, laid back atmosphere and great service also great. But the food it clearly the reason to go. I can t wait to go back!
Painfully underwhelming and grossly overpriced! Food was as bland as cardboard, a slap in the face to true tapas type experiance. Tiny glasses held hostage what little drink they offered at exorbitant prices. Felt less like a culinary journey and more like daylight robbery. Not returning.
One of the most memorable dining experiences in recent memory. It has a unique theme, interior, and menu. I absolutely loved my cocktail. We ordered four plates and shared them all. Each one was special and delicious. We cannot wait to go back.
A tight, always changing sample menu with fresh local ingredients. Staff were fantastic, genuinely excited to take the time to walk you through the food and drink list. Music was a touch loud.
Vegetable forward (nice to see a place that doesn t just deep fry or go heavy on the meat) , cool atmosphere, music a tad loud. Friendly service and now I ll get to the part that really matters: the food was great, looked great and was locally sourced. Will definitely come back here. Food
Exceptional dishes, exceptional staff, exceptional vibes
Quite disappointing. We love vegetables and tapas style foods. The escarole starter was so bitter it was completely inedible. Our server said that it is bitter by nature and that is how it s meant to be served. We left it almost untouched and were charged. I ve seen other people say the same thing. My pasta was so salty and the fish came with fins attached which was very unappetizing. I really wanted to love this place but we left with a huge bill and very unsatisfied. Our server was friendly and the place has a nice atmosphere but you d be much better off checking out other tapas places nearby.
Delicious food and good service. They have a very creative way to use vegetable as the main element of a meal.
If your restaurant is not going to accept folks with a kid who are well behaved and you just don t want to deal with them; you should probably update your website and signage to indicate you exclude families from joining you. So rude to come into an empty restaurant only to be turned away simply because they predicted they might be busy and you have seen poorly behaved children before. My child doesn t make messes, doesn t cry, and is as well behaved as any other person at a restaurant. Simply update your signage and website if you re not going to let kids in. Not hard. Kid-friendliness: Decide they don t want to serve you if you bring a kid with you. No other signage indicates this is the policy.
Excellent creative menu . The plants and herbs on each dish are quite unique. I never had iced plant to eat before. Same for the cocktail, complex; one contained absinthe infused coffee and it was delicious.
Visited Victoria for a holiday and our place was right down the road from this AMAZING restaurant. We ended up eating there twice on our holiday. The atmosphere is like nothing else I ve ever experienced. We sat at the bar and watched the Chefs make our food and chatted to the lovely Bar Tenders. The drinks and the food literally brought tears to my eyes. I ve never tasted anything so delicious. I love how the owners are passionate about sourcing as many ingredients as they can locally and organically. The breads and pastas are made in house and are to die for. The cocktails are out of this world! Please do yourself a favour and go to End Dive for dinner. I wish I lived closer!
From the outstanding selection of items in both food and drink to the incredibly welcoming atmosphere and staff, this place makes you feel with every sense in your body that you found THE place. Incredibly prepared and clearly passion inspired and delivered food and cocktails. As a bonus, you may just hear your new favourite band or some old gems while hanging out at this beauty of a dive. Well done to the entire end dive team.
Excellent. Period.
Amazing new culinary experience for Victoria! Farm fresh, deeply creative dishes -- service was absolutely lovely.
Knowledgeable staff, warm service, elegant drinks, seasonal rotating menu with a variety of portions size.
Wow, blown away by the food at End Dive! The menu is unique but everything is amazing. Highly recommend! Great cocktail list too :)
This was some of the best food and cocktails we ve ever had. Beautifully presented and stunningly flavourful vegetarian cuisine. This is how vegetarian food should be made, not fake meat products trying to copy something but food that accentuates what makes vegetables delicious.
This place should have a 5 star rating- best food I ve eaten in Victoria in three years and I m a Torontonian that s privileged with many restaurants when I lived there. We had the broccoli shoots to start and the flavours were unbelievable. I had the sourdough spaghetti and didn t want it to end, I tried my friends pasta with cauliflower sauce and it was equally delicious. Thr natural wines were also amazing. For all of that it was $60 pp. Great service, great vibe, will definitely be back! Vegetarian options: Whole menu is pescatarian Wheelchair accessibility: Then aisles and bathrooms were a bit tight- not sure how accommodating this would be to a wheelchair
Todd serves up the best swill in town !! Thanks for always serving good vibes
Can t wait for cheap time!!! I like love cheap Bestaurant!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Food : 5/5
Excellent music, unreal food, delicious cocktails, and immaculate vibes. What else do you want. Only reason to go downtown. Food
My favourite place in town, love everything about it. Some of the best food I ve had in this city hands down, great drinks, good vibe.
Went here for cocktails. Slick vibe! And cocktails were strong ! Good service too
Outstanding cocktail menu! Very casual staff, I kinda liked it! Thanks for being good homies ya homies
Was really looking forward to trying this new spot but, besides the wine list (Neon Eon!), everything fell short. We made a reso for two plus a toddler but when we arrived the snarky host said Yaaaa we don t usually tolerate toddlers. Why accept the booking then? We ordered four dishes, including oysters, and the oysters arrived *last*. A sign of a disorganized kitchen. We also ordered the nettle tortelloni pasta which was - no joke - one of the saltiest dishes I ve ever tasted. AVOID.
All the ingredients used in each dish are sourced locally, ensuring a taste of freshness and authenticity on your tongue. Moreover, the dishes showcase remarkable creativity, making it unlikely to find the same culinary expert in any other restaurant.
We did a three day Victoria restaurant hop and this was our favourite. It was packed on Friday evening, but we were greeted warmly and asked to just wait one sec, let me see what I can do. We were seated within 5 minutes. The decor is next level - for example, they turned the conspicuous vents into faces and little quirky figurines are hidden in the bricks. The salmon was the best we have tasted during our trip - in fact, this was our third salmon dish of the evening. I m not sure how they made everything taste so balanced. I learned that they are mostly farm to table and in fact our server, Nate, was one of the farmers! So much passion in this place, they are true professionals. Special thanks to JJ and Mat who we were watching cook the entire evening right in front of us.
Had a fantastic meal here last night. The ambience of the restaurant is great. Music wasnt too loud, great service and knowledgeable staff. Had the spicy oysters which were perfection as well as the beat salad and the white fish. Food
I am so happy we have a great place like this. I love coming here and trying different foods and cocktails. Always a great night. Thanks for the great service, End Dive crew!
Girls dinner out - we always like to try new places and sample lots of cocktails, wine and food together. End Dive has all three in a great looking setting and great atmosphere. We found everything to be okay. The cocktails were on the sweeter side, but boozy. Shared plates are in the smaller size, but enough for 3/4 to have a bite. Despite the menu descriptors, we found more than a few plates on the bland side. Nothing really blew us away. The wine selection was good, although we were charged for an extra bottle, which we didn t realize until we got home. The restaurant doesn t have a contact number or answer through SM, so I had to physically return during their business hours to get a refund. Because I don t live in town, and work odd hours - this took over two weeks. Heaven help anyone who is visiting from out of town - there s little chance for them. When I questioned the owner about the lack of contact number, he just shrugged and smiled. So, not a bad place, but IMO, there s way better bang for buck, and culinary talent in Victoria.
One of the best meals I ve had in the last few years.
If you are a vegetarian this is your place. I liked the food but the prices were shocking. The cocktails got good reviews from the table. The wine was grossly over priced but I bought it anyway and it was nice. The place was busy so they are catering to their clientele. I will not be making a return visit with so many other great local offerings.
Only thing Id say is the bench seating would be a bit more comfortable with some pillows or cushioning! But delicious and wonderful. Very involved and lovely owner.
Great food, genuine people, good times!!!
Absolutely incredible atmosphere, cocktails and service. Food was outstanding and I cant wait to go back again and eat more! Best new restaurant in the City hands down, perhaps the best restaurant period.
It s just not my thing. The drinks were not that great. Very similar profile. Too citrusy for my taste
Staff were super friendly, food was great, cocktails were unique and delicious.
Seasonal and vegetable forward dishes. Nice cocktails and natural wine list. Friendly service to top it off. Will definitely be going back!
Couldnt ask for a finer drink in an exceptional location. A worthy heir to China Towns history of speakeasy inspired watering holes.
This is exactly the kind of restaurant Victoria needs. Funky space, amazing cocktails, and delicious food. We will be returning soon.
Seriously impressed with delicious creative food and drink, the best service and a great vibe. Looking forward to our next time.
Great food and cocktails! Easily in the top five of my favorite restaurants now!
Boy howdy! What a spectacular restaurant/cocktail bar. Seriously blown away. The vibe & service is hundO p, top tier. Everything was absolutely exquisite - the food was so fresh with ingredients straight from a local farm; breads and pasta cooked in house. AND THE COCKTAILS. YUM. So unique and like nothing I ve ever had before. Will definitely be going back!!
The most beautiful and delicious cocktails served by attentive and friendly folks totally willing to explain the complex menu line by line. A must visit!
Food and drinks were both fantastic! They have three menus; food, cocktails, and wine. The drinks were easy to navigate and I was happy with what I chose. The food menu was complex, but the server was very kind in both making recommendations and going through it line by line with me. I chose a sweet corn pasta and it was delicious. The pasta was fresh, likely homemade, and cooked perfectly. I was able to get a seat at the end of the bar, which is right at the kitchen. It was great to be able to interact with the staff, who were clearly very proud of their food, much like you would interact with the bartender when you sit at a bar. I will definitely be back the next time Im in town to try more!
Cool art, great ambience, and food was delicious. However, portion sizes were SO small. Don t go here hungry! Or be sure order 2-3 dishes per person.
I am so excited to have end dive here in Victoria! The food, cocktails, service and ambiance are all amazing and I can t wait to spend much more time here. We popped in, late night, for drinks and a snack and it was outstanding!
Absolutely phenomenal drink and food. Fresh, detailed, and inviting. Sit at the bar and let the servers recommend what you need. We will absolutely be back next time we are in Victoria.
Incredible. Couldnt rave about this new bar/restaurant more. The staff, the food/drinks, atmosphere, decor. The creativity and talent they have in the kitchen/bar is everything. Highly recommend.
Great vibe! Part of a growing yyj restaurant scene that actually delivers on this important element of eating out. Also well priced.
Decided to stop by when I was actually looking for a different restaurant originally. Ended up turning into an amazing evening. I sat at the bar by myself and had one of the owners, Todd, help me with both the food and dinner menu. I ended up having the smoked spring belly, ricotta stuffed spinach tortellini and the smashed lentils. None of them disappointed. As for drinks, I worked my way through the Almost Crimes, Pontiac 87, Ill communication and the Talk Talk Talk. The TTT was by far my favorite, especially acting as an aperitif it was the perfect way to end the night but I could have drank a pitcher of it gladly. If you want a place thats an adventure for your palate in both food and drink, you have found the place my friends. Give it a try!
Obviously many talented people; looking forward to next time to see where it goes. Vegetarian options: Half the menu, well thought out.
Great cocktails and customer service!
I had the chance to try this out last night and it didnt disappoint. Beautiful room, great staff and loved the open plan kitchen and watching the chefs create the food. We had cocktails and a few share plates, the Salmon belly was so good!
I had a perfectly cooked peice of halibut and some triangle pasta that had a little spice to it. Both dishes were complimented well by a bottle of wine recommended by the bartender where we were sitting. Its neat to find a spot with that caliber of food with such a casual vibe to it.
Exceptional vegetable-forward plates and creative cocktails.
What a remarkable place. Ingredients in the dishes and cocktails are masterfully executed. Cocktail prices for what you get are very reasonable.
Small plates that pack a big punch. Great cocktails.
Amazing wine selection. Tasty food. Great atmosphere.
Ordered the radicchio dish x2 and some cocktails. Drinks were fantastic but my girlfriend s radicchio wasn t washed well and some leaves still had dirt on them. It was also a bit bland and mostly consisted of raw, plain/unseasoned whole leaves of radicchio. Mentioned it to our server and they didn t do anything about it, just a weak sorry and some story about it being locally sourced product (what does that have to do with it not being washed?) For the price it s not acceptable. Disappointing because the the general ambience and drinks were good but basics of service aren t covered.
This place is a great concept. But beware: its small (40 or so seats) and the metal ceiling combines with the under-40s crowd to create lots of noise. The printing on the thoughtful menu is too small to read. One dish that we were looking forward to (Charred Napa) was undercooked, cold in the middle and paired with far too peppery a sauce to be good. That said, why were there so may very contented diners around us and why would we gladly go back to End Dive? Heres why: The place is simply designed by three owners who have wanted to do this for years. They have adequate staff (not easy to find in restaurants these days), the bartender (also an owner) uses lots of fine local drink and is full of detailed knowledge. The wait staff were kind and had accurate details about the food (essential when you cant read the menu). Music was well-chosen and, when we could hear it, was just right. A Rugossa Triangoli (stuffed pasta) was perfectly balanced and paired with a silken buttery sauce and walnuts. The cod cheeks were cooked just right to bring out their scallop-like consistency and served with the richest blended mushroom sauce Ive ever had (but served, inexplicably, on a frigid plate). The servings are generous. The price is dead on.
Great drinks and amazing vibe!
Vibe, room, service, food, drink, all absolutely stunning. Charred savoy dish, best thing I ve tasted in years. 10/10 soigne!
Unique, exquisite. Will be on Air Canada s top restaurants next year
I cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant. I arrived in Victoria and went in for dinner my first night after it was recommended by a friend. I went back twice more during my five day stay. The food and cocktails are incredible. The ambiance was perfect. Great music, nice lighting and decor and the service was some of the best I ve experienced. I sat at the bar and was greeted by the wait staff, the chefs, and the bartenders. All of which were incredibly polite and making sure things were well. I can t wait to return next summer for more delicious local food and beautifully crafted cocktails. Well done staff and owners of end dive. You ve created something very special!
My wife and I came across this restaurant on our recent trip to Victoria. Great location that was close to the downtown and our Airbnb. After a day of travel we stopped in for lunch service and when we arrived it was relatively busy. They were able to seat us without a reservation which was a plus because we didn t plan ahead and both were starving. The menu was fancy but familiar without the big city price tag. The meal is literally prepared in front of you with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I m not a seafood fan but my wife said the smoked salmon she had was one of the bests she s ever eaten. We also had a couple drinks with our meal that were new to us but tasted phenomenal. Definitely a wizard of mixology working behind the bar. The atmosphere was amazing and the staff treated us like family. I would highly recommend you add this stop to your dining experience the next time your in Victoria.
nothing but top tier food, cocktails, atmosphere, and service from this place! killing it!
Love the vibe and the quaint feel. Great atmosphere. Great service. Small out of the way place close to Chinatown. Strong recommendation.
love
Great menu and ambiance. I love that they mostly serve vegetables and fish. I ve been twice and can t wait to go back. Their cocktails are great, they also have a nice BC wine selection. Perfect spot for a date or for a night out with friends.
