Restaurant
Great place for Lunch with a good selection of wines. No wine for me today, but will have to try their dinner options on another occasion.
This is a great place for lunch or dinner. My father in law and I like to get away for lunch on Fridays. It has good parking and a few disability parking spots. The ambiance is quite nice for outside dining during the summer. During the cooler months we sometimes get the table beside the fireplace. The food and staff are first rate. I had the seafood linguine this time. My father in law had the sicilian meat pizza. Perhaps the crust was a bit moist in the middle. Extensive collection of wines and other beverages. I am not a day drinker, but I could be. The menu has a selection of small and large plates. So almost like a tapas type of presentation.
Fireside Grill is a great place to grab a bite. It has a really cozy atmosphere with fireplaces and comfy seating. The massive ceiling is really beautiful, with a cathedral-type feel. The food is delicious, especially the steaks and seafood. The service is friendly and attentive. Overall, it's a perfect spot for a casual and enjoyable meal.
We joined our cousin’s wedding at Fireside Grill. I was not expecting much until I arrived!! The food is delicious, and you can tell how much effort and detail that kitchen team had put into the dishes. The service was awesome, every single waiter and waitress are so attentive to napkins, drinks, etc. The décor gives out the cozy, vintage vibe. I don’t find any weak point from the restaurant at all. The restaurant at the time we attended were very busy, but it was very well managed. Thank you to all staffs for an amazing experience
Beautiful setting and food. Caesar salad easy on dressing came pleasantly with real bite able chunks of bacon. Rib eye steak added with prawns for $11 was worth the price with veggies. The sweet young female server greeted herself and can do a better job of professionally serving for extra tip. Menu thrown on the other side of the table when I’m alone. Dessert menu put in table upside down from my view. Table a wee bit sticky from years of use. Lamp on table was just there in the way and I lit by looking for the switch underneath myself,,,had the server offered to care to light it I would have tipped 20%. I don’t know who have all touched the lamp,,,,tipped 11% because food was great (a bit salty side).
We had decided to try this restaurant for the first time. It has a very good location and the staff are friendly. Our server Alana was excellent. She was very friendly and accommodating. However, we were very disappointed with the taste and the quality of the food that we ordered. The Thai Halibut curry was ok, but the rice that came with it, was undercooked. The Pork belly and Scallops were average. The pork was very hard and disappointing. The steaks were not properly cooked. We also ordered some dessert. The Mango sorbet was good, but the Lemon & Coriander Creme Brûlée were very bitter. Overall the dishes that we all have ordered, were not satisfactory and were very overpriced.
Very nice place, great atmosphere. Food was okay to great depending on what we had. Shared clam chowder, Caesar salad, Thai chicken and lasagna. Soup, salad and lasagna were all good. I would go again but I wouldn't order the Thai chicken. For dessert we had lemon sorbet and Brownies with caramel ice cream. That was great.
We had dinner here with friends and the food was very good. We had the Calamari for an appetizer as well as the Ceasar Salad. The Prawn and Scallop Linguine with cream sauce was very tasty. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. The noise level was quite high and it was a bit hard to have a conversation. But it did improve later when a few tables cleared out.
My only knock on the Fireside Grill is that the ceiling is 30 feet high. Pretty echoey in there. But great food and service, a terrific outdoor patio with a spectacular view.
Went for staff party. Had perfect room for our small group. Excellent food and great service. Dietary restrictions: Excellent gluten free dishes
Ive been here for dinner before and it was tasty. Crabs cakes and calamari was on par. Over the weekend I attended a wedding here. They accommodated the ceremony and the reception. The wedding buffet was UNREALLLLL. Turkey. Roast beef, Cesar salad was out if this world. Not sure what they did. Maybe put pork belly in the Cesar salad? I went back for 2nds on the turkey because I had to. The party servers, JD and Michaela were smooth and friendly all night. JD called me a brown cow and I didnt get offended I hope to attend another wedding here
Amazing ambiance, great service. Found the ribs to be a bit overcooked. Miss their Warm Brussel Sprouts salad dish :(
I hosted a dinner for 20 to celebrate an employees retirement. Beautiful space, absolutely fantastic food and great service. We were all thrilled and will definitely be back. Thank you, Fireside Team! Vegetarian options: The vegetarians in our group were pleased with the options Parking: It s a free parking lot but it was very full!
Always excellent here for food, service, atmosphere and menu options. Good parking. Nice inside and outside patios.
We were in our own upstairs room so we had a great space to celebrate an 80th birthday. Good list of cocktails, no problem accomodating a special cocktail request. They came a bit slowly, hence the 4 not 5 stars. All food choices were very tasty and there were good wine choices for pairing. (I had butternut squash soup, salmon with polenta, and an amazing brownie - way better than I thought it would be!) Excellent portion size - definitely not too small. After the drinks, the service was attentive and frequent enough. Definitely a good place for a large family birthday celebration.
Its always good when I go, and Its still reasonably priced.
Pleasant, calm establishment. We visited during lunch and enjoyed delicious food and drinks, looking at the fire in the fireplace. Attentive staff, great presentation and taste.
update to below 5th and final visit and only to get rid of last giftcard. manager was different i think, younger guy, friendly and welcoming and this would be the first time we felt this way. BUT burgers again; we love punishment same house burger (smash burger) but this time it was house made and actually smashed, it had so little beef it disolved between the condiments and now cost 24 bucks, half the fries of the last 3 attempts. bun, lettuce, tomato and the special pickle were all freahlsh this time though. so never once is the beef the same of 4 visits but that welcoming greeting today moved you to a (pitty) 2 stars. 4 visits, 1st - 2 house burgers 1 was still moo ing rare and bloody and the other overdone 2nd - same burgers but came with 2 tiny well done paddies on each and totally diferent condiments but same listed burger 3rd - 2 same burgers but again different preperation and tgis time pretry sure frozen store bought, they were not home made and very dry. 4th - dined in and had a horribly wet pizza, badly made french like dip with mooshy steak beef and dry bun every visit there was a creepy guy at the bar (manager?) always asks why your there and then some snyde comment but never helps you and says she be there in a bit. why even ask, maybe put your phone down when you do. 1 visit i was was a female friend that he staired and (creeped her out the whole visit) and made her brush by him to pass becasue he wouldnt move. this man should not be customer facing at all and many people have called him the creepy bar guy and say thats why they dont go there. its just a no way for our family. recap.. bad food, way overpriced and inconsistent, and of course creepy bar guy stalking instead of working.
Great ambiance, great food, great service.
Popped in for chowder and a beer - consistently good food and service. I have been told I need to get there for happy hour which I will soon!
Food was excellent, staff were attentive but not too much. Real wood burning stove and Christmas tree really made a great atmosphere. Will be back.
The atmosphere was festive and warm, the service was exceptional, but the menu was fairly basic.
Very pricy, But well worth it Food
Korean chicken was excellent. However, the Clam chowder was watery and had very few clams.
Over priced, the lobster roll, mainly bread, the side of yam fries, charged extra a very small cup, have been before and swear would never go back, the only reason I went now, was a work celebration- had one drink and dessert ,72.00!Sorry, but prefer 100% the restaurant across!
Love love love this restaurant!
Fireside grill is an older building (quite common in Victpria!) but theyve maintained it well. Theres a lovely little green area with a fountain or two when you come in, and the interior is old-fashioned in the best way. Food is just a little bit on the pricy side (but only a little: and Let s be honest, what restaurant isnt pricey these days?) And servings are medium-small, but the taste is awesome and the service was great for our party while we were there. It s a great place to relax, have a couple drinks, and just chill with some friends from out of town. It is a relaxed and respectful atmosphere.
Food could have been hotter but delicious non the less. You just dont have the heart to send it back, hungry Waiter was great, but super busy Food
4 out of 5 stars for service is simply because it was a busy holiday evening and staff were extremely busy.
Salads were made from limp lettuce and ingredients. Clearly, several days old and far from fresh. When this was pointed out to the server, she ignored the comment and walked away. Portions were on the stingy side, considering the premium price. Id look elsewhere for a quality dining experience
We had pricy but great steaks and best cheese cake ever excellent service, would always go back Food
Best ribeye steak Ive had in ages. Perfect cook with a Chicago sear. Food
The service staff are very friendly and the food is great!
Great food and cocktail selection. Love that they change the menu each season too.
Food is great, the acoustics could be better, the buzz is very distracting! Easy to solve!
The service was so so special I felt like we were family by the time we were finished. Everyone loved their dinners and some had delicious deserts to top off a perfect night out
Very weird experience with the staff here that I think the manager would like to know about. We followed the sign for handicap parking and followed the handicap entrance sign into the restaurant as the photo shows. There wasn t really an official looking entrance it was just the back patio, so my very elderly grandma who can t do stairs walked back and asked if we could be seated. The restaurant was about 25-35% full so it seemed normal when the friendly staff men er said sure sit at any table you want on the patio. After sitting there a few minutes a different server came over and told us our table was reserved and there was actually a 45 minute wait to sit outside and a 20 minute wait inside. I understand in the hostess mind she thought we just walked in and sat down and ignored the host stand, but if you are offering a handicap entrance then you need to man it properly and not treat people rudely like they did something wrong when they were following what staff told them to do. We decided to leave and not even eat there after that as the whole experience left a sour taste in our mouth. Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible, just make sure someone in your party goes inside and talks to someone about getting a table.
The experience was very good overall. My wife had the halibut and i had the thai chicken. The halibut was a winner. As for the chicken, i liked the concept of serving it with the herb salad, but the peanut sauce and the green curry with the chicken didn t pair well together.
Had ,steak mash and veg! All done to perfection and beautiful Hannah was an excellent server.
You need to try their creme brûlée
There were 28 people in the tour group from Taiwan. Very good restaurant. Highly recommended
2024/06/24We are from TAIWAN tour group, great restaurant
Very nice people, friendly atmosphere the food was awesome, scallop prawn linguine with the perfect wine butter sauce. Cheers to you
We came for my dad s 50th birthday recently. Food was amazing, service was friendly and prompt, it was very busy and loud which wasn t ideal but it was 6pm/dinner time and it s a smaller establishment so it s to be expected. 4 stars only because they charged each guest a cake cutting fee , totalling $22.50 for 9 people. Thats almost the price of the cake that we brought. Just found that a bit tacky.
We love the Fireside Grill! Their patio in summertime is heavenly.
A great find. We were on the Island for the Victoria Triathlon and looking for a pasta/pizza pre race dish. Set in a English Style Ale House it had a great patio for a summers night and I expect it to also be cozy in the winter. Food and service were fantastic. I had Fungi pizza (Tasty) and my partner had the seafood linguini. Both were Delish. Our waitress was friendly and attentitive. In fact all staff were alert and ready to help.
Great food and friendly staff!
Fireside Grill was a fantastic dining experience and really seemed to be underrated from what I was seeing online as well as from the exterior of the building if youve only seen it driving by. Their back patio is especially delightful, getting to sit amidst the camas meadow. Interior has rustic inn style charm, and the whole place was spotless during our visit. As for food, there are clearly listed options for those with dietary preferences or restrictions. Lots of gluten free options and plant based food for the vegetarians. I dont remember their being vegan options, but I cant imagine they wouldnt accommodate. 3 people at my table ordered pizza as they had no restrictions. The Funghi Pizza was specifically the table favorite. I had a steak, which came with tasty accoutrements that complemented it well. Definitely recommend going for happy hour as well, of which they have 2 different timeslots, and the drinks are fantastic. Good wine selection, beers on tap, some ciders and really good cocktails. Very pleased with our experience here and cant believe we havent been yet after living in the area for a while now. Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten-free options for me to choose from, but they are generally the more expensive dishes compared to getting a pizza. Wheelchair accessibility: There is an area with a ramp that can lead into the building as well as either patio area.
Great place. Always been one of my favourites.
A quaint cottage style restaurant with a beautiful garden and a covered outdoor patio - perfect for big groups and photos in the garden. Reasonable prices. We came for mothers day today with a group of 22. Excellent service, attentive staff.
My wife and I go frequently to the Fireside for the Sunday prime rib dinner. In a word it was perfect. The meal, service and atmosphere were absolutely first rate. (I m someone who almost never rates anything 5 stars as there is usually room for some improvement.) Kudos here to the owner, the chef(s) and the staff.
A little noisy
Cannot go wrong here, good and everything is always great. A little on the expensive side though.
It was a really wonderful first time experience, our server was really knowledgeable and personable. I had the tuna tacos and was delicious. Food
Not sure why we waited so long to try. We heard nothing but amazing feedback. Being rushed at the downtown restaurants so they can turn the tables as quickly as possible has left a bad taste for dining out. Not here. What a relief. Was the perfect dining experience. Great staff. Excellent menu. Had the tofu Buddha bowl. Fresh. Delicious seasoning. Birthday boy had chicken. Tuna poke & ceasar for appetizers Nice high ceilings & tables spaced nicely. Parking: Good size lot no issues
Without a doubt, best beef dip in town!!
Its always a good time and great food.
Went for a celebration dinner, and all four of us loved our meals and beverages. I had calamari, then the shrimp and scallop linguine. The calamari was prepared perfectly and the sauce almost made me lick the bowl. My pasta dish was excellent. It is difficult to find scallops cooked so perfectly. Mild but tasty sauce allowed the seafood to be the star.
Nothing bad to say but its not outstanding so not 5. Way over salted mashed potatoes and for future reference, Chicago style steak is charred on both sides, not just one side. Food
Had lunch there today to celebrate a birthday, seven in our party. The Margherita pizza and caesar salad were great and the service was exceptional. Shout out to our server Tanya, youre the best!! Will definitely go back!!
Food was amazing! Top notch is the Octopus! Best Octopus dish I had here in Victoria so far! Service was great too! Ambiance was set perfectly with the dimmed light and how they seated the guests not right next to each other is something I observed and appreciated. Timing for the seating arrangement was great! Kudos to the Host! I would definitely come back specially for the Octopus!
My boyfriend invited me to dinner, the dishes we ordered were exquisite, the waitress was concise and quick when it came to suggesting the dish of the day, the atmosphere in general was very calm, even though the place was full, good place to dinner on a Friday night
Amazing pizza.
Beautiful place, unbeatable service, good price and very good flavor!
From today for me the best restaurant in all aspects, we will surely return to try more things on the menu, everything we ordered was delicious, the service excellent and the place beautiful, of course we will return! Parking: Many places to park
Always a good experience.
We have been to Fireside Grill quite a few times. It is a restaurant we like.
A beautiful setting. Service was great and the meals are tasty. The patio out front is great for Sunday brunch on a sunny day and the Tudor style interior and high ceiling makes for a wonderful evening meal. Enjoyed the Buddha bowl and catch of the day.
On Sunday my wife and I celebrated our 50th anniversary with 40 of our family and friend everyone has texted or called us said the upstairs room was perfect the service was perfect and the food was absolutely fantastic
Little open concept for me. Thats just personal preference. Food constantly changing recipes is annoying. Brussel sprout salad goes from wow to meh. The Negroni was excellent all times .
Shoutout to Michaela, five star service!
Our go to place to relax and enjoy great food . Patio in summer is great . Plum trees are flowering..carpeting the walk lovely entrance.. call ahead . Many people are finding this a great place
Excellent food served by great staff. A great place for casual lunch right on up to a gala dinner.
This was our third visit and this time for lunch. This is a great place for gatherings that are small and intimate or when you need more room for a larger group of friends or family. The food is very good with a variety of offerings. The service has been very good on all of our visits. Next time we need to check out the weekend brunch.
Had Easter brunch with my fiancé and friends . The food besides being way over priced was not good I had the French toast it was one piece of bread and apple sauce for $23 and my fiancé had &2.eggs Benedict and hashbrowns that where end of potatoes that where burnt .which she had to ask for steak knifes to cut through sourdough toast eggs Benedict. Very disappointed. Service was good and atmosphere. This was my second time there as I m from the USA . Do not recommend this place for brunch
Very delicious food and cozy spot!
We recently had a buffet dinner in a private room to celebrate a family wedding. As usual, the food and service were amazing. Tim was so helpful in laying out our options and getting things arranged. JD did a fabulous job of hosting our group the night of. I would highly recommend choosing the Fireside Grill to book special events.
I love this restaurant. Have been coming in regularly for years, but today had a poor experience. I was offered the happy hour menu, was told started in 10 minutes. But that I was free to order from that now. And then when I was presented my bill, it was for the regular prices. I was left feeling a bit awkward and embarrassed. And refused the happy hour price in the end. Ultimately I dont care at all about the $4. But they shouldnt have put me in a position to question the bill. And then even after that, to deny the discount that had been originally offered.
Great server, great food. A little pricey but worth it
I had a lovely unplanned lunch on Tuesday with 2 other friends visiting Victoria. We each chose one menu item that we all liked and shared it. A very inexpensive way to introduce variety into a delicious meal. The Service was excellent, the staff were very accommodating.
Good food. Nice atmosphere. Ample parking. Friendly service.
My dad and I went here to have lunch with family to celebrate my uncles birthday. We were out on the covered patio and it had heating inside it, the food was delicious and our waitress Tania was really sweet, she offered to get another salad for one of my family members who didnt want croutons on it when she forgot, he was okay with it and still ate it and enjoyed it. I shared some calamari with my dad. He had the prime rib beef dip, and I had the FSG smashburger. It was both our first time here, and we enjoyed it.
Refuse my phoned order because of the amount. 3 order of Full Back Ribs because I didn t provide my Credit Card Number. Then I phoned the Keg and they happily took my order without any problems. We have spend thousands of dollar over 20 years eating at Fireside Grill. Because of Covid we do not sit crowded Restaurants. I don t like to order my food Online!! Guess you won t be getting any business from us for a little while. Have a nice day
Very good service, nice old inn atmosphere. Food very good a little expensive side.
It was very crowded, with the tables quite close to each other. The room was not warm and the atmosphere was very plain. Not what I would have expected for such a pricey place.
Pork belly and scallops cooked to perfection. Nice balance of flavours and quite a delight. Highly recommend.
Very enjoyable evening
We had a birthday lunch at the Fireside on Feb.23rd, 2024. Everything was wonderful. We gave them a five on everything. We ll definitely go again, and often.
We had a super time at happy hour. Justin, our server, was lovely. We were in comfy chairs by the fireplace. The food was really among the best we have had. Mussels are in a very tasty sauce and the toasted focaccia bread was really good for dipping! My husband loves dark chocolate and their house made chocolate lava cake with housemade brittle was to die for. Thanks to Justin and the talented kitchen crew!! We will be back.
Great food great service we were a large group and everyone was very full.
PROS: -Friendly and efficient service -Nice ambiance -They accommodated my dietary restrictions of no dairy or garlic. Thank you. CONS: -None OVERAL IMPRESSION I can recommend this restaurant as a must to visit.
Decent place for dine-in. Has options for vegan and GF diet. Tried Buddha bowl and dynamite sushi and pizza, it was good.
Amazing place! Friendly staff and delicious food!
Wonderful venue for small wedding. Can book separate room upstairs. Beautiful old building that is great for wedding photos. Delicious food with GF options. Dietary restrictions: Good gf options. Wheelchair accessibility: Good accessibility on main floor. Ramp at back door. No elevator so need to stipulate main floor for reservations if your party has mobility issues.
Great place to have a birthday dinner and our server was lovely. Thank you!
Poke Bowl is full of favor. Really big portion they seats us upstairs, a little bit of a lack of service for sure, but understandable
Food knocked me off my seat, the vibe is nice and there s a fire. 100% try it
Excellent truffle fries!!! Nice service.
Beautiful restaurant! Wonderful atmosphere & delicious food.
So patient, very accommodating, no rushing us. Wonderful place to gather! Great food.
Our favorite restrauant! When eating other places, we find ourselves saying, that was good, but it wasnt Tbe Fireside Good value for Exceptional Food. Quality, presentation and atmosphere are top notch at a reasonable price point. Keep it up Fireside and we will be coming there for many years to come.
The Fireside Grill has been both awesome for my business lunch meetings and group events.
Excellent service, food and atmosphere
Dined at the Fireside Grill for dinner tonight. The food was great, but our server Connor was subpar. He gave good service to surrounding tables but none to us. We ended up getting dessert at McDonald s because we were flabbergasted at the poor service and just wanted to get out of there.
Absolutely lovely! Dietary restrictions: Great gluten free options! Food : 5/5 |
So many great things to say about FG. Even though it seems a bit dated furniture wise - love the Tudor high ceilings, fireplaces, nice playlist and inviting experience. The whole property and history is amazing. Our server Brooklyn was great - knowledgeable, kind & paced our drink & food order perfectly which were very tasty. Looking forward to coming back.
The building is its selling feature. It is beautiful and if you like old farmhouse architecture, definitely worth a visit. Food is quite decent (not exceptional). Ordered Poke with chips as well Pizza. Both had good flavour and were decently priced (might be the only items decently priced...). The server was very attentive & it has (as I said) a very cozy feel. So why the 3-star review? Everything on the menu is very expensive. And for that price, the food did not go beyond up-scale pub food mark. I dont think I would pay $28 on beef dip. I dont think no matter how fancy you try to make beef dip, I dont think I could justify that price. And I dont think inflation explains it, either. If I am paying premium money on the food, I would go to restaurants (and there are many alternatives) where you actually get *fancy* experimental flavours. If I wanted up-scale pub food, I would drive a few extra minutes and go elsewhere where there are very similar items with a lot more reasonable price tag. So worth a visit but be prepared to pay an arm and a leg.
Average
Nice time and good service. The meal id ordered wasnt bad. I was smidge dissapointed in my choice. I had opted to try something putside my norm. My less than ideal experience may have been more a matter of my own high expectations and poor meal choice for my appetite. Worth a second try.
Beautiful old building.
We had a great meal here last night with friends. Our server was amazing and the food was delicious! I had the prawn scallop linguine. We will definitely be back!
Unfortunately our friends birthday was ruined by (frankly) rude service and subpar food. Hopefully just a one-off but was pretty disappointing
Ive been here twice. First time was great .This last time, not so much. Had greens salad to start. It was extremely soggy. I couldnt even finish it. My steak was okay. Quite a bit of fat on it. Its too bad because I really like the room.
Very inviting interior, and good service. If the lobster and prawn roll was anything to go by, the rest of the menu must be dynamite as well. Will definitely be back in the future.
Excellent restaurant. Great food, service and prices. We stopped here on our way to Victoria and on our way back home. Highly recommend!
Very nice meal, although a tad expensive. Our server was lovely. Would highly recommend.
Birthday dinner of a group of 10. Great service. I had pork belly and scallops. Pork was overcooked. I didn t eat most of it. My husband had prawn and scallop linguine which he thought was good. Others had some complaints. We brought in a cake they charged us $25 for having it. Over all service was good food mediocre and very overpriced. I would not return
Always a pleasure to be back. Thank you Food
Absolutely wonderful!
Food
Very nice dining experience. Lovely girl who took care of us.
Have your wedding reception here!
We moved to Victoria yesterday. Was excited to dine with fireside for the first time. Food was cactus club level . (Side eye) Server however was great. Though.:: Experience with management was number five orange bouncer vibe. I was treated more gently getting robbed in Morocco. Zing
My wife and I have a long history with this restaurant, going back to when we were dating, and it was called The Chantecler. Its an iconic restaurant that has always been pricey, served very tasty food, had great ambiance and attracted well-healed staff. Not much had changed, except the faces that keep it running. The food is still very well-prepared and tasty. The staff is still courteous, helpful and quick. The prices are still high. But this is a special place to celebrate occasions, splurge a bit and relax and let your taste buds sample some worthy food. Theres plenty of free parking, although entering the parking lot has to be done from the northbound lane of West Saanich Road. I would recommend reservations. Theres a nice outdoor patio to eat at (seasonal, but heated). Sometimes they offer a three course (BBQ?) special that weve enjoyed very much, although I havent seen it offered lately.
It was awesomely good...i will surely recommend this place.
We were here for my husbands birthday dinner with some best friends. Sat upstairs which was excellent (less noisy for the hard of hearing) had our turkey dinner which was excellent, especially the butternut cream soup. Could I get the recipe? Our server Cassidy was wonderful, attentive to our needs, friendly and helpful, made good decisions for our questions, and made the evening special. This is a favourite restaurant for us.
Great food, but you need reservations
Went for a work dinner and we were blown away. The fried octopus and fried chicken appies were absolutely worth going back for alone. The braised short rib was just a touch dry, and the jus really added to the flavour, so more jus would be perfect. Another diner had the pork belly and scallops and it did not disappoint. Well be coming back for sure.
Good menu choices, yummy food, prices are on the higher side...would love to see the old summer barbecue dinner specials they used to have.
Very good lunch
Amazing space for small or large gatherings. Happy hour and dinner offerings are excellent. Heard the same about brunch, so I will be back to have that next! Pork Belly and Scallops was delicious, and beautifully presented. Service was cheerful, professional, and efficient.
The Fireside grill had been one of my favourites in Saanich for both lunch and dinner for many years now . Great food , great service , great atmosphere.
The portobello eggs benedict was delicious! The staff are friendly and attentive and the restaurant has a very welcoming, homey feel with lots of indoor and outdoor seating Dietary restrictions: Catering to those who have a gluten free diet, as well as other dietary restrictions Kid-friendliness: Family friendly establishment
( ) Food : 5/5
Had the rockfish topped with crab and shrimp. It was very flavourful and highly recommend. The service and location atmosphere was great.
Beautiful place! They were setting up for a Wedding in one area and a Celebration of Life in another. They still managed to get us in for a nice late lunch. Food was fantastic
We made a reservation but it was not needed. Friendly service and the food was good. Limited brunch menu (compared to other places) but surely something for everyone to enjoy. Caesar was extra-pickly therefore delicious.
We really really enjoyed it . I made a suggestion they start a list for their hundredth anniversary in 2039 . I was not joking they thought I was :-) . The only suggestion I would make is that for dessert , the Fireside ice cream dish be changed up. The entree was amazing . We had the prawns and scallop linguini. Thank you so much for the memories :-)
Great outdoor balcony with heaters. The food is great too! Great desserts too!
This is my first visit. I use public transit its a little bit of challenge to get here without a car. We didnt have reservations and there wasnt a spot at the bar at 5:00pm in a Friday. We were offered a table on the patio with heaters and the fireplace It was perfect for Friday after work dinner. There were a couple of choices for dairy free gluten free I wasnt in the mood for ribs or a Buddha bowl and went with BRASIED SHORT RIB (GF)...this was a splurge pomme puree, bordelaise sauce, smoked confit shallots, roasted mushrooms, seasonal vegetables Our server suggested I switch out the puree for the roast potatoes, salad or extra vegetables. My friend ordered the WARM BRUSSEL SPROUT SALAD (GF) Tuscan greens, maple roasted squash, fried Brussel sprouts, feta cheese, candied pecans, pickled cabbage onions and sundried tomatoes, truffle vinaigrette. It looked delicious! When my meal was delivered the server let me know that the short rib portion size was double the usual. Im took half of everything home and enjoyed it later. It was very pretty sitting outside and seeing the twinkling lights. There were blankets available of which I used two. I hope to return in the summer to enjoy one of the patios during happy hour.

Amazing food, excellent service, beautiful atmosphere, and a classy experience. Their menu has clear gluten-free options and the building is so beautiful. Its a bit pricey but very worthwhile for a night out. A definite must for any romantic dinner.
I attended my work Christmas party at Fireside on Friday. The food was amazing and our servers were attentive, fast and friendly. We were given the opportunity to take leftovers from the buffet home which was a new concept to everyone but it s a great idea to cut down on waste. Overall I was left with a positive feeling and won t hesitate to tell my family and friends! Thank you Fireside Grill!
Considering Covid this place is great. Good food and great service. I think they could really expand their outside dining too if Saanich allows it. The place is on a nice park like setting. I imagine a bunch of interconnect ed decks with common water feature like a brook running all over. This would din the traffic sounds and transport you into a dining out experience like no other. Add some heaters and flames ...sorry got carried away there. The pic is after we attacked the dish ...again good food not same old restaurant fair. Check them out all these cool spots need our patronage. Oh they do Christmas Parties too
Very nice place and the food was very good. Thank you
Eating at the fireside was a real treat. Service wàs prompt, our table well situated, and the food excellent. Vegetarian options: Good selection, fresh and well prepared. Parking: Parking is in a lot to the side A bit difficult for those with disanilities but there is dropoff space near the entrance Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible tables availible.
Great food, server attentive to all our requests
Expecting customers to pay their staff salary through tipping instead of paying them proper wages, no wonder this restaurant has gone to the dogs.
Richness defined If you like rich foods Fireside Grill is a good place to check out. There are many dishes with creams, battered, or well covered in oil. I prefer coming for the buffet as one can get some leaner items but the general menu is taste.
Good food, extremely nice waitress, nice atmosphere albeit loud when super busy.
