Glo Restaurant + Lounge in Victoria

This was my partner and mine first time here. We ordered caesars and the spinach dip. Both were fantastic, the only downfall is the proportions of dip to chips. Definitely need a few more chips. We asked for a few extra to finish off the last bit but it would have cost an additional fee so we didnt bother. Would definitely still recommend regardless!

This was my first time trying this restaurant and I have to say I was very impressed. The ambiance was quite nice. The service was fantastic. The food was excellent. We had the calamari which was so good. I had the steak and prawns, which was just excellent. my wife had the blackened Cajun chicken and she really enjoyed it. There were so many items on the menu that I wanted to try, but I was craving steak and it was definitely worth it. I can t wait to go back service was really good. Our server was kind and prompt. Steak was cooked to perfection. The prawns were cooked to perfection. My wife s chicken was also cooked perfectly. The whipped mashed potatoes were delicious. The veggies were excellent, and the drinks were also very good. Can t wait to go back.

Spectacular food excellent views. Warm atmosphere. Friendy staff. This place is fair priced for being on the water front. Happy hour is a must. They also put Sunday football games on for those of you who are big fans. My most recent visit was a disco night. It was very entertaining. I did not order any food on this particular last visit but the drinks were amazing. I cant wait to come back with some friends and enjoy a very good meal.

Great dinner spot in Victoria

We saw this place from the Selkirk bridge while riding. First visit. Friendly staff. This restaurant has a very nice design with views of the Gorge. Service was good. Food was very good. Pricing was what one can expect for waterfront dining on par. The cost of operating an establishment on the waterfront will be more so one can expect higher pricing but they do have a nice Happy Hour choice 3pm-5pm were one can save. The only thing I would like to see which would be nice would be if they dropped ice water when you are seated also it would be nice to have a larger 20 ounce or pint of beer option. Their house draft is nice. Reviews are all about expectations and for my wife and I it meet ours. We dont live in Victoria but next time we visit would keep this place in mind. Vegetarian options: Just noticed them on the menu. We has chicken quesadillas which we loved. Glo bread was tasty as well. Parking: Plenty of free street parking but only one hour to 6pm then as long as you need after 6pm. Look around the side streets off the traffic circle. We found one a 5 minute walk away.There are two hour free spots. $4.00 per hour paid parking otherwise.

We had a great view, and the room was tastefully decorated for the Christmas season. Exellent and friendly service. The thai curry chicken soup and pear salad were delicious. We had the dessert special able crumble cheesecake very generous portion and tasty too..

I hadnt been to Glo in about a year, but got the poke bowl my most recent time because I had bought it a year ago and really enjoyed it. The food was good, but the bowl size looked smaller and portion size was less than half the bowl. I paid $26 for a meal that I was still hungry after. We also got the calamari and artichoke dip, and the portion sizes were tiny for the $ value charged. Its a disappointing trend from the restaurant industry. Food, atmosphere, and service was good, but based on portion size, its poor value for your money and I wont be going back.

Food and service were great, and the Christmas decorations are tasteful and beautiful. It would have been 5 stars if it wasn t for the very loud music played by the live DJ. The level of volume and type of music just did not match the atmosphere of trying to enjoy a dinner with friends. It was an unusual choice and ruined our impression unfortunately.

Best fries in Victoria, atmosphere is unmatched as well. 10/10 on everything if you go get the beef dip with spicy fries. Would you be able to make a Saturn? Not sure if there s Falernum and passion fruit syrup at the bar.

We ve eaten at this restaurant dozens of times. Today at 330pm, we came in with four adults, an infant, and two small children (7). We were told that they could not accommodate us today under any circumstances. The restaurant wasn t terribly busy and in the past when I ve come in with my girlfriends and it s been much busier, and the same number of people, we were given a wait time. In this case here, we were profiled for having children with us. What a shame. I ve been eating here for years. I have read the response below and will reiterate, I ve come in many times with the same or similar number of people and during high season and have always, every single time, been given the option to put my name on the waitlist with an estimate of how long it might be. Not in this instance. The excuse that was made does not cut it due to past precedent.

I never write a review before, but this is the Worst experience ever ~my son ordered a 8oz steak, and my friend ordered a 6oz steak. When the food came, my son started cutting his steak, I noticed the size difference, the 8oz is smaller than the 6oz, so the server had to send her manager over( our server was very sweet and lovely tho)and the manager keep telling me they did not make mistakes, that the 8oz is cut thicker ,so I showed her my son s and my friend s steak , compared the the size and the THICKNESS of the steak ! She see it and still denied of their mistake, but offered to make a new one. ( why make a new one if you did not make a mistake??)Is it that hard to admit a mistake? I would just let go if she just say sorry . I would just take the 6oz. so I ask her to cancel the order! And I ordered the beef dip, the dip is very tasty but the beef was sooo dry! We end up ordering other food when we got home! The only thing good about the restaurant is the atmosphere ~ Thaz all~

The food here is always phenomenal, I had the beet and avocado salad and added blackened salmon and it was INCREDIBLE. But so is everything there, always a favourite when we come to Victoria. Very similar to a cactus club, but women-owned/managed and local (not chain)! Kelowna needs one of these for sure, definitely one of my top favourite places to go. Reanna was amazing as well! Definitely recommend 100%!

We visited Glo during a summer day. The food was good and the waitresses were excellent! They were personable, friendly and made further suggestions based on what we were ordering. The setting is really nice, very close to the ocean and in a designated walking area that is fantastic!

I made reservations for 4, online for a birthday celebration tonight which put in the comments of our reservation. This restaurant is usually pretty good and is considered a bit more upscale. When we arrived at the front counter, the friendly staff greeted us and before taking us to our seat informed us another reservation was coming to our table in 2 hours and did we think we could be done by then. I thought this was quite rude as this is a fairly nice restaurant and one does not expect a time crunch altho the person seating us told us that if we thought we may take longer than the allotted 2 hours, we could tell our server and they would make some adjustments. Our server, Nick was awesome and very attentive. However, It felt like he was being pressured to rush us thru. We ordered a cocktail and an appetizer which came promptly. Before our appy was even on the table we felt rushed in having to order our main entres. Once ordered, we also ordered a bottle of wine. Our main course came uber quickly but our wine did not. We each slowed down eating our dinners because we were feeling the rush but were afraid wed finish our dinner before our bottle of wine was brought to the table. Once the red wine ($60/bottle) arrived, the wine glasses put on our table were not proper red wine glasses, they resembled something that would have been served for a dessert wine. Our server apologized for the glasses but said they couldnt find proper wine glasses. We were barely finished our dinner and wine when we were asked if we would like dessert. We had had our cocktails, appetizer, main dish and wine all in less than an hour. There was about another hour before the next reservation. I mentioned to our server that it seemed we were being rushed thru. He apologized and said that was not their intent. We, in no way feel our server was responsible for the rushed vibe we felt. We felt there was pressure on him from someone in a higher position to get us in and get us out before the next reservation. However, we noted there were several empty tables nearby. The point here is that when you are spending $200+ for a nice dinner out to celebrate a special occasion, it is very disappointing to feel rushed and concerned about the time. If we wanted to just grab a diiner, we would have gone to a fast food restaurant. I dont normally post reviews but I feel the food service industry is struggling during these tough times, which is evident by the inflated prices and much smaller portions. However, the lack of customer service where the consumer is made to feel rushed is inexcusable. Again, this review is no reflection on our server as he was excellent, rather the management needs to review their practices if they want repeat customers and word of mouth referrals, and to keep a good reputation.

Really enjoyed our dinner here, friendly staff, great vibe, great service. Chatted w Lily the floor manager, she is awesome! Only four stars for food because Al pastor tacos didn t taste like Al Pastor at all, but otherwise all was good. Definitely recommend

Service was slow. Coffee cups were dirty and staff is rude. Dressing on salad was too much and very salty. Young waitresses tried to make convo at end for tip. Unfortunate for such a beautiful spot.

The deck at Glo is always amazing with friendly and attentive personnel. Parking: Parking is on the street. One might have to drive around the block to find a space. Weve been going there for about 20 years and have always found a spot to park. Food : 4/5 |

Awesome food, service and atmosphere. Halibut and fries are a favourite of mine but everything else I have tried (mainly appetizers) is fabulous. Anyone I have gone with has been equally delighted.

Our dinner was delicious and the restaurant had a fun, vibrant vibe.

I went there to celebrate my husband s birthday . I had made reservation in advance and had specifically asked for surprise birthday dessert during dinner which they forgot. We ordered penne pasta (minus meat) , it was literally an overload of sun dried tomatoes did not taste good at all . Chicken Wings( lemon pepper) were pretty average. The birthday dessert tasted good though. They have got the best ambience and vibe, no doubt about that. Overall, not satisfied with the experience .

Glo Restaurant is lovely downtown restaurant and lounge. It has a beautiful view of the inner harbour. The staff are professional and pleasant. This is the third or fourth time I have been there, and I have yet to have a meal that is the adequate temperature. I ordered the Smoked Salmon Quiche and it was cold. My partner had the Traditional Glo Breakfast and it was cold as well. We didnt want to say anything as we were with another couple and didnt want to interfere with our visit with them. Too bad because the atmosphere is good.

We stopped in for a mocktail. The bartender she was wonderful. I had an old gift card that gave her a bit of trouble. She was very helpful.

Loved the waterfront location and the beautiful design and decor of this restaurant. The hostess was very welcoming and the service was fantastic! (Nikki) I had a white peach sangria which was very good, my husband had the red sangria, to which he also gave a thumbs up. The bacon wrapped shrimp was a nice appy, but the mains of lamb burger and tuna poke bowl were both underwhelming. My tuna poke came with sides of soy vinaigrette, chipotle mayo and a pico de gallo, the latter which was confusing with the overall Asian flavour profile of the dish. The poke bowl was one note and a little too acidic/spicy and the addition of a small piece of avocado did not ameliorate that. The only side sauce that was needed was the soy vinaigrette, and more of that would have been great! Hubby s lamb burger was nothing special and we would not order either main again. We would definitely return for an evening meal or happy hour because of the ambience, the drinks, the service, the appies and the patio!

This is a great restaurant. They have a fantastic menu. The food is delicious. The service is outstanding. The prices are reasonable. Highly recommended.

Overall a lovely spot with good food and a nice location. Good selection of wines and dessert, though lacking in Vegetarian options. However, This would be five star if it was not for the incredibly slow service. We waited over ten minutes just for our glasses of wine, after waiting 10 minutes earlier between receiving menus and placing the order. From reading other reviews this is not that uncommon. The restaurant was flooded with staff, and I would expect a bit more attentive service from a nice place such as this. Please encourage your staff to do better. I was pleased overall but the speed of service will be something I take into account for future celebratory nights out. Thanks!

Beautiful spot on the water, lots of good food options

Five year anniversary with my partner tonight! Had the Bourbon BBQ ribs and they were phenomenal!!!! Thank you Glo for the perfect anniversary that ended with a proposal!

The ambiance with the sunset is absolutely fantastic. The food is also very delicious, and the service is extremely friendly. Prices are on the higher side, but I would definitely eat here again.

I think the best pub in Victoria because having sightseeing, free parking, amazing food and awesome beers!

Great food, amazing atmosphere! I d recommend the patio even if it s a bit chilly as the glass and the heaters keep you warm enough, and the view and atmosphere is gorgeous. We had a fantastic server who really added to our overall experience. Would likely be worth reservations if you had a group.

Decent restaurant in Victoria. The food and drinks were good, could have been better. The service was a bit slow, we had to keep call our server for water and remind her to turn on the heater near our patio table. I got the creole salmon fettuccine, and the salmon was overcooked. The dessert (sticky toffee pudding) and the lettuce wraps were the best things at this restaurant.

Food is good and reasonably priced. Nice portion sizes as well. I ordered the chicken wings, breaded prawns and braised beef. Service was slow as usual. Everytime I ve been here it takes about 30min+ to receive food. And servers do not check up on you for drink refills. Also wanted to redeem parking coupon as it is clearly stated on the paid parking lot sign and the server was very confused about the process. Otherwise average restaurant experience. Wish the servers were more attentive and communicative if the food was going to take longer.

The food was aweful, portions small. 2 tiny dry chicken tacos with less than 1/4 cup salsa, served with too many chips to accompany little salsa. All for $22. My husband felt sick the next day from his fish & Chips dinner.

Had a lovely dinner with my parents! After having some really bad experiences at restaurants with horrible service, we were so relieved to be taken care of by the professional staff at Glo. The food is amazing and worth the price. The atmosphere is beautiful and the tables are spaced out highly recommend for any occasion and will definitely be back.

First time. Great food, service and we sat outside by the water.

We had an excellent meal at Glo. We shared the lamb meatball starter, which was really tasty. The Bourbon ribs were falling off the bone tender, and the blackened chicken with mash was delicious. Our server, Michaela, was friendly and efficient.

Sorry but Great location , great service but the food is lacking. I ordered the happy hour Calamari Portions are very small. Also very oily that taste is still in my mouth. Sorry to say I will not be going back.

I have been to Glo Restaurant more times than I can count, I was just there yesterday once again. Their level of service, the food and atmosphere have remained impeccable. They never fail to accomodate my request for a reservation as I most often book my meetup group on what is one of our favorite venues.

Gorgeous view and nicely decorated restaurant. Lots of windows for the waterfront view and 6 TVs by the bar. I got the Venice peace (love the peach sorbet on top!) with sprite instead of soda water, lamb meatballs and beef carpaccio. Some of the best thinly made beef carpaccios Ive had with enough toasties on the side and argula salad. Lamb meatballs (3) was yummy too, lots of cumin in the tasty curry and naan on the side.

Still a great restaurant at this unique location. Very nice experience.

We had a great meal there, we really enjoyed the drinks and food as well as the service. The only thing is I booked the reservation a couple weeks ahead of time and asked for a window seat.. we did not get a window seat we were sat in the middle of the restaurant. We also got a steak asked for it to be medium rare but it was well done. It s a great restaurant that I love and will always come back too.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Unprofessional service. Asked if they seated kids and was told yes and that a table would be ready in 25 min. Checked in after 35 min and was told a few more minutes. Never received text saying table was ready and clear they never intended to seat us. No problem not accepting children, but at least make it an official policy and be honest.

Didnt have an amazing experience at Glo. Although we had reservations, we had to wait in the line up for 20 minutes for our table. We had not visited for a little while and was excited by the food options but everything we ordered was nothing special. We ordered the miso halibut, pear and walnut salad, mushroom flatbread, and beef tenderloin pasta. The halibut was extremely pricey considering that it tasted like it had been previously frozen and was very dry, definitely would not recommend ordering. The view we had was also pretty bad so overall just not super impressed by the experience.

No one answers the phone. I doubt it even rings at the front. Poor service even to make or confirm a reservation. Should I expect better if I can even contact a human?

Perfectly setup for outside dining or lounging. Staff is very friendly and attentive but never pushy. Nice Big umbrella over tables to help keep the sun off you but high enough as not to obstruct view

Absolutely abysmal. Reservation for table not ready, ordered five meals only four arrived. Was told after most of us had already eaten that they didnt have the first selected choice. Ordered a second meal only to be told 10 minutes later that they didnt have that either. Finally ordered a simple pasta, asked for no tomatoes and got tomatoes anyway. My lamb burger, which was $30 was bland and dry. It went on and on. Drink orders didnt show. Waitress blamed having other tables. Never again. Update, replied to management with picture of check .. Zero Reply.. Update, Received a piddly 30$ GC .. Wonderful, A dry burger..

Glo was a nice surprise during our trip to Victoria. The food was really good, the cocktails were great and the service impeccable. While we were there the service staff handled a problematic customer with grace and good judgement, further demonstrating their skills.

First time visiting this restaurant. The chicken creole and the braised shorts ribs were good but the seasonal vegetables were undercooked and bland (bok choy was bitter and too crunchy). I dont really like wine but was given a good recommendation by our server which i enjoyed. The best item we had was the black raspberry sour, has to be in my top 3 cocktails. Overall id visit again and try some other items that sounded good.

we celebrated my husbands birthday, oh my God... the service was terrible... it took a very long time to bring cocktails, they brought water only when I asked and it took just as long. The food was delicious but... the service ... the wine was brought after the food was on the table. And they didn t have enough glasses for wine... and finally dessert... I asked to serve dessert with a candle... which the birthday boy waited for 15 minutes... and it was melted (it was sorbet). It was one of the worst experiences visiting this restaurant. The mood of all our guests was not very satisfied.

We always love coming here. Its often very popular and crowded but not in a way thats overwhelming. If we can, we prefer to sit outside of the patio. The temperature is controlled very well out there, and I havent been looking for a jacket, like I have with a few other outdoor dining options. Service is always exemplary and the food is top shelf.

The food is consistently amazing but I have to give a special review to our server Layana. Super friendly, knowledgeable and one of the best servers I have ever had the pleasure to meet. She gets a 10 ! Parking: They reimburse $5 for parking but I paid $9 for 3 hrs... even though I only wanted 2.5 hrs.

Food was pretty good and decent value. Great location down on the Gorge in Victoria but there s an old industrial area right beside the restaurant and the water. If you sit outside on the patio you can ask for a view of the giant pile of crushed cars.

Glo used to be my absolute fav spot in town -they had vegetarian menus which were the bestttt, and then slowly they took away the vegetarian menu, and some of the options, now leaving a few left they even took the spinach dip off?! Salads are superb but as a vegetarian, the menu isn t exciting at all anymore. Used to be 5 stars, now sadly, it s a 2-3 for me. :(

We went to Glo for the first time for happy hour. What a lovely, upscale place! We re originally from New York, and as much as we love all the nice pubs in Victoria, its a pleasure to drink and dine in in such a beautiful place, with a splendid view of the water. The ginger beef was tender, seasoned perfectly, and quite honestly better than weve had at most Chinese restaurants. The Morrocan lamb meatballs were made with an excellent blend of Middle Eastern spices and were accompanied by naan-style bread. The Tan Tan salad was dressed perfectly, and the goat cheese in it complemented the dressing. The garlic flatbread was simple, yet flavorful. Our server was attentive and made sure our drinks were modified to suit our taste. All in all, its a terrific spot, and we cant wait to come back - for dinner next time!

I was having a really rough night, i came in on my own to celebrate my birthday. The staff made me feel the most welcome I ve ever felt in a restaurant, and they made my night super special. Kate is such a kindhearted and caring server who kept checking in on me. and the manager (I never learned her name), and hostess on shift (I can t remember her name but she had long brown hair it was at 9pm ish on a Friday) made sure I knew how welcome I was there. If you want a warm service, delicious, high class dining experience this is where you will want to go.

Over from Vancouver for a little visit and we went to Glo last night. It was amazing. I had the BRAISED BEEF SHORT RIBS - delicious! Great wine list with lots of local options. Loved the experience and will definitely be back!

The waiter served two couples at lunch, but for some reason brought one check for payment! And she put us in an awkward situation. Its unprofessional.

My hubby and I went out for a late Saturday lunch. We had a wonderful time and the food was delicious. I had the Taco Al Pastor and the Prawn pasta. Special mention to Maddie. She went above and beyond in providing excellent service.

I used to be a huge fan of this restaurant, but recently had a terrible experience trying to book a reservation. I wanted to book a reso for a special family dinner with 6 people and was unable to do so online. Their website said to send an email to book, which I did, and I was told that I would need to provide my phone number to receive a link to book a table with a credit card hold. I never received the link even after following up twice and response times were slow. I also tried to call the restaurant during business hours on several occasions and there was no answer. I have never heard of this type of booking system in Victoria for small group sizes and find it to be very inconvenient. I will no longer be recommending this spot to family and friends. Parking: Parking is limited during peak times

Came here for brunch. Wouldn t eat here again, it was fine. But nothing to write home about. The eggs benny was yummy but the hash browns were not the best. Service was okay. Servers dress code was questionable in my opinion too as a side note lol

You must try the Thai soup and salad. Its my go to lunch there. Great atmosphere and ocean views. Servers always make you feel welcome.

Horrible service. Before we were seated, the hostesses imposed a time limit on how long we could stay at the table. I had an Amex in my pocket and was willing to spend generously for my partners birthday celebration. I regretted not going directly to the Fairmont instead.

We come to Glo quiet often and very happy with food and service until today. We were told that we have only 2 hour sitting limit and spent next 30 min trying to get an order in. We literally felt invisible. Waitress are doing wonderful job but clearly, not enough staff for busy Sunday afternoon. I hope you can sort this hiccups, cause I really dont want to change our brunch location. Thank you.

Pleasant atmosphere, good food. Tipping is expensive (18%) and demanded as in most places. For something that used to be given for good service is now part of wages. This is not good. Wheelchair accessibility: No obstacles.

First time here for dinner. It exceeded my expectations. Our guests from Japan were also. The food was prepared and presented well; not overly fussy which is my preference. Dessert was fabulous; not usually one for creme brûlée but it was very memorable, especially paired with a small scoop of ice cream. View over the Gorge was nice and we enjoyed a beautiful sunset. Not as busy as I would have expected but last time here it was for brunch!

Right down the street from my house! Walking distance which is a bonus! Beautiful views of the gorge waterway! Patio and indoor seating. Ive sat both inside and outside. Food is always good. I had the carparcio and the truffle fries. Both absolutely divine. Atmosphere was great! Our waiter Leif was awesome! Great customer service was received!!! Ty Leif!

Delicious food. My partner and I shared the cauliflower starter, brie and pear flatbread and the ribs. It was amazing. Perfect amount of food and absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend the cauliflower starter
