L'Authentique Poutine and Burgers in Victoria

I was SO excited to try this place on our vacation. I was starving and looking forward to authentic poutine. IT WASN T OPEN!!! it said it should be and it wasn t. I was beyond disappointed.

The classic poutine The people were very nice. The view was great. There was no indoor seating for those who would care about that. Food : 5/5

The classic poutine here is a MUST if you re visiting Victoria. It is a walk up style, out door dining situation but totally worth stopping by.

First time here a couple of weeks ago. We both enjoyed the classic poutine. Service was friendly and surprisingly knowledgeable. Good atmosphere. We will be back for sure!

The gravy too salty. The cheese is not real quebec Authentic Cheese curds. Not going to lie was pretty. Disappoint will not be getting another one there. Im sure most people will be fine with it but myself.Im from quebec and this is a disgrace to real french poutine

Wow that is excellent poutine and the burgers are fantastic. Had the méchante and regular cheeseburgers and they were top notch. So was the classic and burger poutines. Family was very happy! Server was a bit odd but that may add to the atmosphere.

Decent poutine, but not authentic.

The owner Sebastian gave me a super hard time. I wanted a fries and gravy with extra cheese curds and they tried to charge me 3$ extra because I beat the system. Essentially a poutine, but the poutine was 10$, fries and gravy with cheese are 9.50$. They wanted 13.50$. Womp womp. He got mad and yelled at me. Don t eat here.

This was our first time to this restaurant and went there based on the reviews, we were not disappointed! The mushroom Swiss burger was excellent and cooked perfectly, the poutine wes exceptional, the fries you could tell were freshly cut and cooked to the right crispiness and the gravy was flavorful. We are actually planning another trip soon to Victoria based on this restaurant because it was that good! Edit: We returned last weekend on Friday the 16th of August 2024 and the mushroom Swiss burger is still absolutely delicious. I could eat this burger over and over.

Best poutine Ive had on the island. Hot, crispy fries. Cold, fresh curds. Hot, flavorful gravy. Highly recommend recommend. Parking: They are literally in a paid parking lot. So, if a space is available, parking is easy.

I was in a rush and they served me really quickly. The burger was tasty, hopefully next time I will have time to try the poutine. Theyve got a nice little spot near the waterfront too.

Nothing like poutine in Quebec... Ive never seen these stringy McD-like fries back in La Belle Provence? Had the Smoked Meat-version and for $4 more, it didnt meet my expectations for a $18 spend. Glad some like it but there is better examples in Victoria and Esquimalt.

Great location with views of the quay. Servers were friendly and helpful. After a very short wait we enjoyed the Montreal style poutine which was delicious. I would go again if I was back in town. Only complaint was having to walk up to the street after having eaten so much. Dietary restrictions: Met our gluten-free requirements.

Gotta say, this is one of the best poutines Ive had in western Canada. This place is bringing that eastern Canadian poutine flavour (which in my opinion is where some of the best poutines are found.) to the west coast. Glad I got to check this place out!

Just seen the food truck parked near my place on my walk home after work. I had the best burger of my life. That was better than anything you can buy for $12. I have been waiting for SOO LONG since Im in BC to find the real original experience with the gravy and the Squick Squick fresh cheese curds. Everything I have tryed so far over here was... Good for a dumpster. But this place... OMG, I felt back home. Just like the real original experience. try it it really worth it. Just the best poutine I have ever tasted in British Columbia so far. Thinking only of food quality, I think this is some of the best poutine in town. The atmosphere is better than their main competitor, who I wont name here. I only wish they had some heating lamps or something for the cold days.

Had the Montreal Style Smoked Meat Poutine and the cheeseburger. The poutine was classic and delicious. The gravy was the star of the show here: well-seasoned and there wasnt too much over the fries. The cheese was squeaky and tasty. The burger was smash burger style, well cooked, on a fluffy bun. We ate at the picnic tables around the side, cute ambiance. Service was good, food came out quickly.

Hands down the best burger and poutine on Vancouver Island. There is simply no competition among other burger places in Victoria, you will be blown away every time you eat at this location. Only downside is they are open for limited hours!!

My favorite poutine place in the city. Fresh, crispy shoestring cut fries. Have variations and burgers, but I prefer the classic. Covered, but outdoor picnic table seating. Steps away from the water if you get take out and want to enjoy the view.

The gluten-free poutine is the best I have ever had! Celiac sensitive gluten intolerance greatly restricts my choice of restaurants. I am so happy I gave them a try. My wife and kids agreed that we have to have to visit Victoria every year so we can have LAuthentique Poutine and Burger. My kids are now inspired to try and create this at home. What a pleasure!

The LAuthentique food truck has provided a Corporate lunch 3 time for a large site of ~250 people. The food was fantastic and service was excellent. It is difficult to serve a mass amount of people with high quality, hot food, without huge wait time. Sebastien and his team hit it out of the park! Overall good experience and would go again! Right to the point now.. I had the Bacon Cheeseburger & Poutine. Now the Poutine was awesome, seriously one of the best Poutines i ve ever had! Generous with the curds & gravy, and the serving size was perfect with a burger as well. Price was $8 to add to the purchase of a burger. Now to the burger, very well thought out in the way of ingredients & seasonings, but i ll admit i was pretty disappointed when it came to how small the burger was for the price of $11, plus tax. It was a great burger, just really wish that I d gotten a bit more for my money. I ordered for takeout, and once i had sat down to eat, i opened the bag and i realized there were no utensils or napkins. Whatever, it was pretty busy, things get overlooked. All good!!! TLDR: Overall score of 4 Stars for food quality, taste, & friendly staff. Poutine was amazing and perfect portion size for $8 (with burger purchase). Burger was disappointingly small for being $11, but tasted very good. Fork & napkins were not supplied. Friendly staff, great place!

I had a stop in Victoria from my cruise and I knew as soon as I stepped foot in Canada I had to get some poutine. Thanks to google maps, I knew just where to go. I made a beeline off the boat and headed here before the lines! Food came relatively fast, they made the poutine with fresh fries and topped it sopping with gravy. The man who handed me my order was so sweet and wished me bon appetite . As I sat there enjoying this plate of heaven the line go super long! As it should, this place was excellent!

We visit this little place at least a few times a year while out deck crawling in Downtown Victoria. The big draw is the authentic (its in the name LAuthentique) Montreal Smoked Meat on the Poutine and Mechant Burgers. Best Montreal Smoked Meat I have had since I last went to Montreal. Very reasonably priced. Parking: Its along the waterfront, just off to the side of a paid parking lot so its more of the parking is enhanced by LAuthentique and not the other way around. Wheelchair accessibility: Its on the waterfront boardwalk, so highly accessible.

We came in from a cruise and we re looking for some authentic Poutine. This place has it! Fantastic food and service. Definitely check this place out!

I chose this poutine spot because of the great location and the veggie options, and I was not disappointed. The veggie burger was very tasty well formed patty instead of being to squishy. The vegan poutine was also fun because I could enjoy! My husband had a double cheeseburger, which he said was similar to a smash burger. Overall, great experience! There are several large picnic tables you can eat at, which are shaded with a view. Vegetarian options: There is a veggie burger. Also vegan and vegetarian poutine.

The best poutine in town

Best bacon cheeseburger Ive ever had and I eat alot of bacon cheeseburgers. And you wont beleive it but also one of the best poutines Ive ever had and I also eat alot of poutines. I have been coming every week since I found them about 12 or 13 weeks ago. Cannot get enough!! Parking: Its paid parking but if youre just stopping in for food I dont bother paying and its always been fine.

Cold & overpriced poutine

Hidden away beneath the stairs beneath Finns (across from the Local), you will find this takeout window with an outside (but covered) eating area. I had the Hamburger Poutine, which is difficult to find here on the West Coast. Lots of other fun options like Loaded Baked Potato and Italian. The toppings are delicious (real curds, not just mozza!). The fries are thin cut so they get cold quickly, although the gravy helps with that. I will be back to try another kind!

I enjoyed their tasty veggie burger which had a pleasurable crispness to the actual burger part. We also ordered the large poutine covered in gravy and cheese curds and was surprised how crispy the fries remained without going soggy. Tables are outside so we were glad to have jackets with us.

We had the spicy poutine, which had an outstanding flavour. They add banana peppers to make it spicy, the crunch of the French fries with the creaminess of the cheese curds makes it an absolute delight.

Really good poutine. Only outdoor seating which was perfect for people watching just on the waterfront. The chips are both soft and crispy. There s a few other things on the menu. Other than poutine which is nice. I ordered the Poutine Montreal and it was pretty tasty. The only thing that I felt was lacking was the gravy. It was kind of bland. Other than that, such a good spot.

Extremely pleasant staff. Poutine was great. Hot, fresh, well cooked fries. So yummy. The spicy poutine was excellent and unique. Their outdoor benches allowed dogs, which was nice because we had ours with us. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of poutine you get. Location is great down by the Victoria harbour.

The Poutine was great. We had the one with the burger on it, and it was a great afternoon snack to share. It could be a whole meal if youre eating one by yourself. Its counter service. The person at the window was very friendly. The seating are had plenty of seats when we went, but the tables werent very clean.

My heart aches seeing the Temporarily Closed on Google. This place & their food truck are true gems on the island. I ve lived in Montreal and Toronto, had dozens of poutines at some of Canada s best places and this one is on my top 5 list for sure! *They also gave my small chihuahua an entire burger patty for free once while we were waiting at the food truck. Needless to say, ALL of us walked home HAPPY. 11/10!!

This place used to be a go-to for a good poutine. Now they basically serve an overpriced version of a Wendys or mcdonalds poutine with shoestring potatos and packaged gravy. Dont bother with this place.

If you havent tryed this poutine then please treat yourself to a good meal. Always tastes great and plently of cheese and friendly staff. Been coming here since he opened his first food truck and will keep coming back.

I tried their food truck at the local baseball game recently and if you are a fan of powdered gravy, packaged frozen French fries, and 6 cheese curds for 14 dollars then this is the place for you. But, if you are looking for authentic poutine, like the establishment name, stay away. I have had authentic poutine from Quebec and this doesn t taste like it at all. I don t write many negative reviews, but I was not pleased with their food truck, that I would never try their location on warf because I might get the same quality of food at such high price.

July 8, 2022 There was a Nation wide blackout of internet services. Debit, Credit cards and all ATMs were down. Me and a coworker had been working since 4AM neither of us had cash, it was 11 AM and we were both very hungry. I offered the owner (Mike) to take a screenshot of my ID and gave my word that I would return with payment and a big tip if he would trust us for a meal. He told us no screenshot was necessary and to order whatever we wanted! The food was awesome. The bill was paid promptly and I wish that could I give him a ten star rating. Thanks Mike, theres not that many people that are as reasonable as you.

I was happy to stop by with my husband last weekend (had a food tour of a few places); its below Finns, which may make it difficult to find for some. Its got outdoor and sheltered eating area, nice and casual. Its got a view of the water, and a nearby restaurant. Husband and I shared a poutine- and I do love poutine! The fries were crispy shoestring- the cheese curds were squeaky, and the gravy was just enough to coat the fries but not drown them. Good fast and friendly service, and crispy fries. Worth to try, especially if you enjoy a good poutine! I havent tried their burger, but I may have to!

Excellent, flavourful, aromatic smash burger. Great poutine, even for someone who doesn t tend to enjoy poutine. I ve returned many times. The French Canadian staff are also perfect and fitting.

This is the closest to Québec poutine youll find in the city. Their cheese curds squeek, the gravy is rich, and the fries are well seasoned. What more can you ask?

We dont go into Victoria often but it was the wifes birthday and she loves Poutine. So just Googled it and this place had a number of good reviews, so thought Id give it a try. The food here is really ! Good. The bacon cheeseburger is excellent my wife had the beef poutine and couldnt say enough good things about it. It was well worth the trip from Sydney.

Delicious rich brown gravy , plentiful squeeky cheese curds combined with perfectly fried potatoes makes the most perfect poutine in all the land ( I ate it so fast there was no time for pictures sorry)

So good, best poutine in town, friendly staff, delicious burger, I recommend this place to everybody. Just glad I dont have to drive all the way to Langford anymore. Just go, you will go back!

As they say in the social media world, OMG. What delicious poutine! Coupled with the Mechant burger (flat patty, cheese, Montreal smoked meat and fried onions, it couldnt have been better. Great staff as well. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back for more.

The burgers are absolutely fantastic. I always want the second burger after I finish just for the flavour. Crispy edges and juicy inside patties. Poutines are great too but the burgers are my favorites here! Thank you for awesome foods

RIPOFF. False Advertising For a basic sized poutine was 16$, and judging by the picture on Skip the Dishes I thought it seemed like a generous portion for that. So after $22 after taxes, I get ridiculously small box of poutine.... Tasted good at least, but not ordering here again for such false advertising

Had high hopes because of the reviews and nice pictures. We have done most poutine places in town. We did the smoked meat poutine, the cheese curds were plentiful and squeaky. Fries are pretty good, would prefer them to be a bit thicker for more of a bite. Meat was alright, didnt seem to have much flavour. But the gravy was the weak spot. In the pictures it looked much darker and thick, what we got was thin and light with pretty much no flavour. Maybe they didnt use enough pre packaged gravy mix. But with no flavour in the gravy it kind of made everything bland. Overall I would grab the pulled porked poutine at Jones BBQ instead for just a few more dollars and get a way bigger and more flavourful poutine.

Awesome!!! Such a great meal for the whole family. Huge portions, and great options for the kids. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating. Poutine is as authentic as it gets. You will not be disappointed.

The best Poutine in Victoria...bar none. The fresh -cut fries are the right shoestring size, cheese curds not big hunks but plentiful & the gravy is outstanding. If the Poutine is any indication, all their other items wont disappoint, Im sure. Rod

Got the mushroom swiss burger and poutine combo from their food truck. I can testify that the cheese curds are indeed squeaky. We just moved here from Quebec and very happy to find good poutine here. The burger was also excellent. Thank you for making my Quebecois husband very happy :)

It s good poutine, but I wish they would update their hours online to reflect their actual opening times, it s always disappointing showing up to a place and it being closed unexpectedly.

The best poutine we ve ever had! Everything is delicious and freshly prepared all accompanied by friendly service. We so appreciate that offer so many GF options for the Celiac member of the family. Lovely patio overlooking the harbour to sit on as well. We ll be back soon!

Fast and friendly service. We ordered the kids burger and fries which is a steal of a deal. Excellent cheeseburger with fries, juice box and ice cream cup for $9. We didn t get the poutine sadly but we did order another small fry because these fries were arguably the best I have had in my life! Definitely pop in for a bite!

Really great Montréal style poutine! Every component was on point, especially the tender smoked meat option. Highly recommend for classic poutine in Victoria!
