50 Bastion Square, Victoria, BC V8W 1J2, Canada
Contemporary Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurant with a low key vibe, Plus a great selection of juices, smoothies, wine , cocktails and local craft beer on tap.
BEST LEMON MERINGUE PIE EVER, cheese cake is great too! Mrunalini and Rinchen had such great service ! Will definitely be back to see what else they got !
My favorite vegetarian restaurant in Canada. Every time I visit the beautiful city of Victoria, I have to eat here a few times. The location is also beautiful and the price is more than fair.
I loved the vegan Reuben! The place was cute and the service was speedy and it was nice to have a kombucha on tap.
first time customers attentive helpful server , food delivered, quickly , tasty entrées. enjoyed Dale Evans smoothie Quantity for dollar spent reasonable Space is dated so if you value modern decor, you may want reconsider your choice
Visited this location in October 2024. My wife has their cookbook from many years ago, and I enjoyed their lentil soup from it. We had the chance to visit on our latest adventure. I’d say this is worth a stop for sure. Great menu with some very tasty Vegetarian and Vegan options, which packs enough protein if you’re worried. Crafted with care, and spiced well, I enjoyed the Super Bowl and their spiced chickpeas the best. Service was excellent, and they suggested an option or two for a cider for me to try out. So had a nice apple + raspberry cider which was good. Will easily return for a second visit!
I have been a loyal customer since 1996, the food keeps me coming back. She's looking a little dated, and the washroom feels a bit like being back in high school, haha it's up some stairs so not wheelchair friendly. The service is always friendly. The margaritas are friigin' amazing! So many good choices, the almond burger and spicy Thai noodle bowl are my fav! My kids love this place too something for everyone and family friendly.
Rebar is one of my absolute favourite restaurants in Victoria. I always have a meal here every time I visit. A great menu, lots of space, a cute patio when the weather is warmer. My fave is the almond burger.
Delicious! Almond burger is a highlight— lots of flavors and textures — table mates also enjoyed the salmon burger and the monks curry was super flavourful— matcha latte was not a standout, but the matcha smoothie was enjoyed— great service as well— we really enjoyed our lunch! Loud spot when busy, but atmosphere very fun and relaxed
Love this place. The Rebar salad with miso dressing is soooooo good, and the fresh juices are delicious. Staff is friendly and helpful :)
The iconic restaurant-Rebar. Still so good, so charming and wholesome! Vegetarian options: They have yummy vegan options too Food : 5/5 |
Best food and cookbook. When I was a very poor student, ordering off their sides menu saved my butt during lunch. Hot side miso and side salad to help a vegan out. I stopped doing this when I could afford to eat like a normal human. The food and service was always fantastic here. Highly recommend to everyone! Great juices too. Ps I recently bought the cookbook and so glad to have found a copy!
Colourful and vibrant healthy food in the heart of Bastion Square in Victoria.
Stopped here when waiting for hotel room to be ready. Super friendly host. Great food.
Great food with a good range of menu options, reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and helpful. We sat outside on a sunny day in September. Very pleasant.
Wow! A must-visit. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options. Edited to add: the vegan fudge cake is some of the best cake Ive ever had
Always love it here, home made healthy food, the place has got some funky decor, price is right
We had brunch this morning at the Rebar. We had the lox and latkes eggs Benny. It was so good! Best brunch We had in a long time. Billys service was excellent! Food
Rebar is one of Victorias original vegetarian eateries its been serving up, delicious food and a good variety of vegetarian drinks with friendly service for many years. Love the food and the decor. Theyve got outdoor tables, great for people watching.
Got the blacked rockfish sandwhich was very delicious and flavourful, great service.
Had a delicious salmon Benny with fresh fruit and fried potatoes. Service was great! I would definitely go back if I return to this area.
The place looked nice but it wasnt that nice... After ordering the unique apple cider on tap, the server came back to me to confirm the order. Whatever my surprise was when I saw a bottled raspberry cider arrive.. I like cider but not when the price differs by CA$5.. Note that I warned the waiter but no action was taken.. Too bad but thats what I call a tourist trap.
Had a great lunch on the patio. Food was very delicious both the super bowl and the blackened rockfish burger. Perfect amount of food.
Nice place, good beer, fast friendly service...great
We came here for a large group breakfast and it was lovely! Everyone enjoyed their food and they handled a group of our size incredibly well.
Went for lunch.I had the Blackened Rock Cod burger. Loaded with amazing toppings. Everything very fresh, great portions. The rebar Salad was equally delicious.
Great juices, iced teas and smoothies. The atnosphere is lovely and really great service. Love the music playing Next time I gotta try their food Service : 5/5
The food quality - which weve appreciated before - pushed the overall rating to four. The waitstaff were distracted but friendly. The location in the middle of downtown is great, but the atmosphere inside Rebar feels a bit like being in someones basement rec room. The drinks are all interesting and tasty, the rockfish tacos were great (for the non vegans), and the super bowl was tasty also.
Been here twice while in Victoria and both times were absolutely outstanding. The Rebar salad was so tasty and great with avocado! Tried the spicy peanut noodle bowl today and was knocked out of the park - 10/10. A lovely place to visit and revisit, the outside seating fabulous and the interior is cozy with a sweet charm. A must to check out while in the area!
This place is always delicious!! I just had the best lentil soup of my life there today and the rebar salad with the miso ginger dressing is always yummy!! I love their peanut rice noodles dish too!! Great drinks and desserts too! Love it!!
Pancakes are outstanding. Coffee about average. Service is fast and friendly. Vegetarian options: No meat on this vegetarian menu. Food : 5/5 |
Really wonderful almost entirely vegetarian menu. The staff are very nice. Reasonably price. Would recommend.
Perfect vegan friendly restaurant Vegetarian options: Lots! Food : 5/5 |
5 trillion stars out of 5. Where has this place been all my life? Innovative and fresh-to-death menu options. The first authentically made ceasar salad Ive ever had on the island. Ill be ordering here every Sunday going forward while I sell at the Bastion Square Market. Vegetarian options: Tons. And vegan too!
It s been 10 years since we ve last been here and we went twice in two days this past weekend. Food consistency is amazing and things just don t change there. It wasn t too busy for lunch and an early dinner. Service was good. Love the Yukee Bar!
Great food and drinks! Amazing atmosphere, the tablecloths are so fun and quirky!. Staff very friendly and prices fantastic.
Incredible food made with fresh ingredients . Quite rare nowadays. Serving sizes are good - will need two entrees if you are hungry. Not a purely vegan restaurant, which is great for non-vegans. Definitely one of Victoria s finest.
Billy was awesome and Karishma was great. I had the huevos rancheros and my guests had the 3 sisters enchiladas; which Ive also had. As a starter I had the curry lentil soup. All of the food here is awesome and feels like its homemade / made with care
Great food and amazing service!!! Thank you
My favourite place in Victoria for healthy, delicious, affordable, unpretentious food any time of day. Comfortable, slightly retro decor, good music, interesting servers.
Delicious and affordable food. Its rare to find a good fish burger with a Caesar salad that doesnt cost a fortune these days. The staff are wonderful and attentive, and the menu options are exceptionally health-conscious. I have a couple allergies, and they couldnt have been more accommodating. This place may be known as a vegan restaurant but it has plenty of options for carnivores as well Vegetarian options: Loaded with good vegan options, and not just tofu.
Good food and service. Interesting atmosphere.
Lackluster food, overpriced, poor service. I had a noodle bowl that tasted inedible. I havent tried their other items but am not planning in it.
I like to try this place as i heard i was one of oldest vegan restaurants in Victoria. I like place & atmosphere, food was ok, thanks
We cook from the Rebar cookbook all the time. This morning, during a visit to Victoria, we decided to try the real thing. The ten year old, after two bites of Mamas Breakfast Sandwich opened his eyes wide and declared, This is exquisite! ... and it was
All time favourite restaurant in Vic since as long as I can remember! Amazing food (especially the yam quesadilla, enchiladas and the house salad:) and great service!
Delicious food. Excellent service. I had Mamas breakfast sandwich with tomato soup. Wheelchair accessibility: Not level entry and no wheelchair ramp.
Excellent food. Great friendly service. Even though it was packed they provided great service and excellent food. Enchilladas and the Power bowl is what we ordered. delicious baked deserts.
Love the yam quesadilla!
Service was pretty quick and Staff was friendly. Food was very underwhelming. I got the Eggs Kurosawa. It tasted like a microwave meal I could get at a grocery store for a fraction of the price.
My husband and I have been eating at rebar since 2000 and in that time the high quality of the food has only gone up. In this time of increasing restaurant bills and smaller plates, rebar s prices are extremely fair for the price.
Big fan of this place. Will likely revisit everytime we are in the area. Its not often anymore we say the bill fits the meal and time we had... But this place just checks all our boxes. Vegan friendly is a huge plus for us. Love it here!
Delicious food, beautifully presented and quickly served, absolutely lovely place to eat
All the food and drinks we ordered were fantastic! Recommend highly
Can improve
Just delicious Tempeh Reuben and Rockfish burger. Our server was lovely and very accommodating for our toddler. Its an institution for a reason.
Super cute space, generous portions, and the tempeh reuben is to die for.
Outstanding! The budget-conscious option, soup and salad (Tomato-basil soup, Rebar house salad) was a generous portion of each, superfresh, and the accompanying focaccia bread was piping hot and freshly buttered. A first-rate light lunch at an affordable price.
Cute and quaint basement-style café. Health, fresh food.
The food is simply so good! Vegetarian options: Great selection of vegetarian and vegan options. Food : 5/5 |
I was in another restaurant in Victoria complaining about the awful treatment I received working at this restaurant and the waiter said are you talking about Rebar? Awful!
Get the Green eggs and Hash for brunch you will not regret it at all!! Wow! The salmon and latkes are fantastic too but oh man. That green eggs and Hash. This is a favorite place for us to go. We went for brunch for our anniversary and we are never disappointed here.
The best enchiladas I have ever had in my life
The produce was really good but the eggs were over cooked and the had browns were burned. The vegan bowl was too oily and the sauce bland. The atmosphere was really nice.
Parking: I have been to rebar multiple times and have always had a great experience. The food is delicious and the waitstaff are always friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend it for a brunch out with friends or family. The only downside is that it can get quite busy on weekends, so if youre looking for a more relaxed atmosphere, Id suggest going during the week instead.
Very good place to eat in Victoria
I have owned this cookbook for years and finally made it to the restaurant-I was not disappointed! The food was prepared to perfection and the flavours were amazing. The serving staff were great, but there is some real genius in the kitchen. We ended up getting dessert to go as it was nice to stretch the Rebar experience into the evening as well.
Burger was okay but the potatoes were amazing
Lots of light and fresh decor. Full range of vegitarian and vegan food selection. The Rueben was made with marinated tempeh and beets - deliciius. 3 Sisters enchiladas very good. Andrea came by to see how the food was.
Nothing is finer than eating at your diner <3 j.s
Holy ratatouille moment! The flavour combinations are just incredible!!!! Something as simple as making their own delicious ketchup to pair with the crispy soft potato blew my mind ! I gotta come back for the local snapper tacos so excited to find a restaurant with locally sourced food and they are doing such great flavour combinations ! 10/10 love it !!!
The food was delicious. However, we both felt the place looked tired. The hall to the washroom was unclean and the atmosphere was a wee bit dingy. Nothing paint and a good clean cant fix.
@jasonsalwayshungry Rebar had a low key but pure quality vibes I smashed the Three Sisters enchiladas this matrix of pinto beans, roast butternut squash. sweet corn, white cheddar, jack cheese, mesa red sauce, corn tortillas, queso fresco, , toasted pepitas, cabbage slaw, brown rice, pico de gallo, creme fraiche was generous and delicious vegetarian experience 8.6/10 rockets #victoria #britishcolumbia #canada #alwayshungry #foodcritic ##vancouverislandeats #enchiladas #foodie
My wife used to live in Victoria and always recommended this place over the last 20 years. Still a wonderful pick today, especially if you love vegetarian options (and plenty of options for non-vegetarians). Artisan shop for foodies.
I had dinner here on a Friday night and ordered one of my favorite dishes, the Three Sisters Enchiladas. To my disappointment the meal was served lukewarm and seemed to be haphazardly thrown together. If there was any squash I didnt find it, and the first enchilada I ate didnt seem to have any filling whatsoever. The second one had a little cheese, and was somewhat better. I didnt try the third one. The salsa was sparse and I didnt find any beans, but there was an abundance of sauce perhaps an attempt to compensate for the lack of everything else. If they had run out of ingredients, why didnt they tell me and let me pick another entree?
Happy Rebar Customer Great options for kids, creative menu option- kiddoss.. Tried mouth watering Breakfast Sandwich Best house-made yogurt..
Patio After 5:00pm Tacos and margaritas in the sun. A great option for Gluten Free dairy Free diners. Music from next door flooded the background but we could still have a great conversation. My dining companion liberated one if the 3 fish tacos that came in my order. Still plenty of food for me. I had not been to re-bar for several years. It was a pleasure. I particularly enjoyed the margarita for under 12.00. the chairs could use some padded option for those of us in skirts. Dietary restrictions: DF GF
I have loved the food here every time I stop in. It is worth a trynifnin Victoria.
Fast friendly service. Everyone loved their meals. Fun outdoor market right outside. Breakfast all day!!
Good food, fast service.
Amazing food in a great location! Everything tastes super fresh and there are options for everyone. The rockfish burger and 3 sisters enchiladas were big hits, but everything ordered was great. Keen to go back and try their brunch!
My favorite restaurant in Victoria!!! Vegetarian options: Some excellent vegetarian/vegan options! All the food is so fresh! Food : 5/5 |
Their enchiladas are one of my favourite foods in Victoria, and their curry is delicious plus great service and a friendly environment
Amazing juices, huge portions Came in in dire need of vitamins and found everything I wanted. The Lemon Aid juice was delicious and the peanut noodle bowl was huge and very filling. Cheery atmosphere and attentive service - a wonderful find for a vegan visitor!
Food was tasty but the experience was tarnished by extraordinary slow and absent service
Terrible service, we wait more than a hour for eggs and hotcakes, thing that take around 10 minutes. After an hour we were still waiting for the drinks. There were around 6-7 ladies working, all of them were walking around and they said that the restaurant was busy. It was not. The food was terrible. Service terrible. I so not recommend this place.
I got the 3 sisters enchiladas - they were good! Unfortunately our experience was tarnished by the incredibly slow service. It look a half hour to get our drinks alone!
So glad we tried Rebar while in Victoria! The waitress was happy to point out the many gluten free & vegan options. The portion sizes are great. You won t leave hungry. Lots of fresh flavours and veggies in the dishes. It would also be worth it to go just for the fresh juice. Delicious - it really hit the spot!
Rebar in Victoria, BC, is a hidden gem that offers an exceptional dining experience. With a focus on sustainability, their vegetarian and vegan menu delivers creative and delicious flavors. The warm ambiance, attentive staff, and commitment to eco-friendly practices make Rebar a must-visit for conscious food lovers. Highly recommended!
This is a place we regularly have Sunday brunch. Food is great and good for you. Service is amazing. Staff are friendly. Highly recommend
Shoutout to Billy for being the most gracious host and very engaging. After 7 years, happy to say the meals were just as delicious as we remembered Favorite place for vegetarian food Vegetarian options: Delightful!
Almond burger was delicious.
I chose this long established eatery for a group of local friends/collaborators while visiting from the States. The healthy, well presented and portioned dishes did not disappoint. My reservation was handled courteously and the fun atmosphere was conducive for us. Special thanks to Andrea for her friendly, attentive service.
Absolutely delicious food! We had the Monk curry, the spicy peanut noodles and the winter zinger! Everything was perfect!
Delicious food for reasonable prices. Thoroughly enjoyed it!
Well this place has gone downhill, very sad to see. The enchilada I ordered and the fish burger my wife ordered were inedible. The taste and texture was like they had been microwaved from frozen. Worse - if youve has the Amys microwave enchilada, the Amys beats the Rebar enchilada BY FAR. The fish was rubbery and solid like a hockey puck. The chick peas were from a can. The corn was from a can. Gone was the fresh delicious food with bright flavour and pleasing texture. My enchilada had very little filling, I couldnt even find some of the ingredients listed on the menu, and it was swimming in a pool of WAY too much sauce that seemed intended to hide the condition of the food. Oh and it was cold in the middle. Five years ago on our last visit, this restaurant was busy and there was a line out the door. When we went, it was empty except for us and two other tables - IN JULY! Height of tourist season, prime location, hardly anyone there. We certainly wont go again. The server was very sweet it wasnt her fault and they offered to have the cook redo our meal or make something else - but our first food was so terrible we didnt want to try anything else. Oh, and the bathrooms look like they havent seen any maintenance in 10 years. Very poor condition, and the soap and paper towels were empty.
Great staff and the best enchiladas ever! Just want the recipe for the sauce!
Excellent food, great service with an inrerrsting eclectic menu.
Great service and food. I would like to try different dishes next time. My partner is vegetarian and lots of veg dishes .
Great experience. Food was excellent. Service quick and friendly.
Food was super yum and VERY filling, I had the vegan Reuben and loved it, the homemade mayo and ketchup for the potato wedges is amazing! Our server was very sweet also.
Nice restaurant! Good food. Veggie and a lot organic.
Everything was exceptional. Fresh and so flavorful
Omg! I have had so many caeser salads at many restaurants its crazy. This is by far #1 for sure. Topped it off with blackened rockfish. Service excellent. Love this place!
Friendly staff, fun casual setting, generous portion size meals with good flavour. Variety of options for the vegetarian, fish and meat eaters, raw foodies and plant based. Fresh blended juices, creative cocktails, BC local ciders & beer, and yummy baked goods. Brunch, Lunch, Dinner and anytime in between!
Good food with special diet options. Now there is seating outside.
Food was delicious, specially the salad with the basil vinaigrette. Had to come back to try other dishes.
I ordered the breakfast sandwich, which was delicious. I forgot my sunglasses at the table, but the friendly staff held them safely for me.
My boyfriends family are long time fans of Rebar (they have the cookbook and all), so I was so excited to be in Victoria to come here and try their recommendations!! Between my boyfriend and I, we split the Almond Burger, the daily gazpacho soup and the rebar salad. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. We left feeling full and happy. Staff were all lovely as well. You will find us back here next time we are in Victoria! :)
One of the best food places in Victoria. Their sandwiches are excellent. Staff is super friendly, and service is quick.
Visited here whilst in Victoria... the restaurant was small & quiet, which I loved... food choices for vegetarians & vegans was gorgeous... staff were lovely..
It was good until I realized my miso soup had bugs floating around in it. What did they do about it? Say thats gross and a date square, on the house. Just horrible.
Been here twice. The first one was terrific. The food was great, and the service was excellent. However, this time it turned out as the worst experience in Victoria so far. The second time I decided to bring my vegetarian friend as I really liked this place. We came here during lunchtime, it wasnt busy at all. We were the only customers, but it took 20 minutes for our server to make our drinks. It was just an iced latte and espresso martini, which dont take a long time. We had an almond burger and a fish burger. We asked for a hot sauce on a side. Besides not bringing the sauce, our server forgot about the cutlery and salt and pepper, which are the basics. We felt like she just forgot about us at all, even tho she didnt have customers besides us. As a cherry on top, another server dropped a fork on my white jeans while she was grabbing plates from our table. She did apologize, but it was just a formality. Like she didnt care or empathize at all. Very disappointed.
Lovely food. Super nice staff. Was nice to find a vegan/veg place that my wife approved and had delicious food. I could easily eat an entire plate of their potatoes.
Fresh as it can be ,light nutrition breakfast natural juice!
Decent food, kinda expensive for the quality. I would say this a really middle of the road place over all. The redeeming part is the juices are really good.
Vegetarian options: Rebar helped us in hosting 30 guests all with various dietary restrictions/preferences. They did a Fantastic job in meeting everyone s needs. Food was fresh and delicious. Service was also very friendly. Highly recommend. Food
This place used to be so good! The food was mediocre, expensive, the surroundings are old and tired. It was one of those restaurants you would tell any visitor to go to.
I was disappointed in my visit to Rebar. The service was exceptionally slow. The restaurant wasnt visibly busy, but the servers took a long time to deliver our drinks, which were expensive yet mediocre. We had to ask each time to refill our water, which desperately needed to be cooled (it was slightly warm tap water). Food took a really long time. I ordered the peanut sauce noodle dish with $4 tofu. The thai dish was served with fork and knife, but thankfully they had chopsticks when asked. The portion was massive, tofu had zero flavour, it was mostly noodles with a few pieces vegetables. The sauce cooled off quickly and curdled a bit. My friend who ordered enchiladas said that it was way too spicy, which wasnt advertised on the menu. The atmosphere of the restaurant was fine, but overall seemed lacking attention. The menu options and number of choices was great. The place is clean and lots of room for large parties. I would love to come back, but the service needs to get a bit more training for such a prime location of a restaurant to compete with similar restaurants nearby.
Paige was our most delightful server. The food was excellent and the presentation was lovely. We were not disappointed.
Loved it here!
Consistently tasty with good service.
Always a treat! I love this place for food!!
Love the healthy food they offer. Yam quesadillas are the best
Super disappointed today. Normal spot for my mum and I to go to, however we sat and waited with zero attention, not even waters at the table. Waited for 10 minutes and no one even came by. We decided to leave and hope that this was just a short staffed day. Normally would have been wonderful.
Perfect location, Nicely prepared food with sufficient portion size. I can t believe it s a Vegetarian restaurant but that makes them unique restaurant, which serves healthy and hygienic food. The server was knowledgeable about recipes and quite helpful. Menu is well designed. Although less food options in menu, the quality of food is superb with balanced flavors and taste. We had ordered 1 enchilada and 1 pad Thai noodles with 1 miso soup and 1 dal soup, and it was more than sufficient for a family of 5. Everything was tasty and filling. My wife had severe headache, so, requested tea with ginger and mint and the server and chef tried their best to get it done. Nice gesture. One must pay a visit, it s really worth it. Lunchtime visit is preferable to avoid rush and wait. Interior and tables are simple but clean, little upgrade in tables and toilet will take the restaurant to top in the area.
Down home healthy food and generous portions
Delicious and nutritious meal. The staff were super nice and offered great suggestions. Would definitely eat here again. P.S. Fair warning, the cold defence juice is fairly spicy :) .
We went on Saturday and they were full. Returned on Sunday and there was lots of room. Interesting decor with bright colors and lots to look at. Decent selection on the menu but not clear what was available at the time. It was1:00 and ordered off the lunch side, but waitress had to check if we could order those items or if we had to order from the brunch selections. Maybe she was new? The food was excellent! I had the salmon burger. A generous piece of salmon! My husband had the monk stew and enjoyed it. Next time we are in Victoria, we will return.
Amazing quality and customer service
Great casual place with delicious, healthy food. The Super Bowl was delicious and a good portion size. Peanut noodles were creamy and again a good size portion. Atmosphere is upbeat but also relaxing. Highly recommend!
The food is very good nice atmospshere
I go to Rebar every time Im in Victoria. The staff is really lovely and welcoming to families with young kids. The food is fantastic (The salmon burger! The peanut tofu noodle bowl! The Rebar salad!). Definitely a favorite.
This place serves up totally delicious, nutritious, super fresh and attractive food absolutely consistently. Why dont we hear much more about Rebar?! Everywhere else I eat pales in comparison. Such incredible value for your money too. Its so worth going there. Way to go, Rebar!
We walked here for lunch on Wednesday and arrived about 1230. There was no wait and about 6 or 7 other occupied tables. We were quickly seated and the waiter came by twice as we weren t sure what we were going to have and were busy chatting. The food came out pretty quickly and looked fantastic; we had the Rock Fish Tacos, a rice noodle/peanut salad and an egg sandwich. All were very tasty and a pretty good portion! We were however disappointed with the service after we got our food like we had been forgotten. Not once did anyone come back to check on us - we had 3 empty glasses on the corner of the table for more water and sat with empty plates for quite sometime. We attempted to gain eye contact but never achieved our goal. It was only when we went to get up to find someone to get the bill were we acknowledged again. I am not sure if they were low on staff but it is not a large restaurant and they could have least pop buy one more time to see if everything was alright.
We have been coming to the Rebar for around 20+ years and have always found it to be excellent, both in food and in service. Billy, one of the servers who has been there for many years, is outstanding - professional, prompt, courteous, great sense of humour etc. - is always kind and tactful, even when having to deal with a difficult customer (we saw this last night ). Bill is one of the best! Hope you love the place as much as we do!
Rockfish burger/tacos are killer. 10/10 would reccomend
Yummy soup
Absolutely wonderful. Great ambiance. Very friendly. Yummy, yummy food.
We orderd two Monks curry and two spicy peanut noodles bowl dishes. The Monk was mostly juice with a few pieces of eggplant and tofu. For noodles, there was not enough vegetables, just 2 pieces of carrots and 2 pieces of red belly paper. Also, the noodles were overcooked and so sticky and there were no peanuts at all. The quality of food was so poor yet the tip starts from 18% which is not normal.
Excellent food; very good for vegetarians. My parents eat meat and loved it as well. Has a good atmosphere and attentive staff. We will definitely go back when were next in Victoria.
First but not the last visit to Rebar. Food was delicious and the staff and atmosphere bright and friendly. Highly recommend this sweet spot.
Quick service and delicious yellow pineapple juice!
Shame on rebar for not paying their employees properly
Solid restaurant with great staff. One of our top restaurants to go to when visiting Victoria.
Excellent food and friendly servers.
Great food in great location with amazing staff
Fantastic meal. I had the 3 sisters enchiladas and they were terrific. One of the best meals I ve ever had. The gent who took our order was super friendly. He remembered my kids names and addressed them personally when bringing their meals. A nice touch to the service we received. This place should be WAY busier! Folks stand in line 2+ hours at different places and receive inferior food. Hit these guys up and you will NOT be disappointed.
We had a lovely dinner here tonight, outdoors. Fabulous vegan food and everyone was helpful and kind
So tasty! We had a delicious sit-down lunch here. Lots of vegan/veggie/pescatarian options to choose from. Everything was delicious and high-quality.
Rebar has excellent food and very friendly service - definitely go eat here if you re in town. Every time I visit Victoria it s on my must-do list. My favourite dishes are the soups & the vegan Reuben sandwich, but honestly every dish on the menu I ve had is delicious and high quality. If you like tasty food and a relaxed atmosphere you can t go wrong with Rebar. They have lots of vegan and vegetarian options as well. The desserts are also great. They have a lovely outdoor patio in a pedestrian-only walkway, which is so much nicer than sitting beside traffic. The servers are top-notch too. Overall highly recommend!
Great friendly service and big portions. Family friendly.
Stopped in to use their facilities Kid-friendliness: Aloud homeless to use their facilities
Typing this whilst we are eating as we are so impressed. Loved the almond burger !
One of the best veggie burgers I have ever had. The almond burger was incredible! And so was the masala hummus
Want a *warm* smoothie on a hot summer day? And pay $12 for it? And wait ten minutes when the place is dead? Go to Rebar! Please avoid.
They put, upon special request, an entire head of tasty garlic, beets, and ginger, in a yogurt base smoothie. It is delicious !
Delicious food, excellent friendly service! I had the blackened rockfish tacos and they were fantastic!
Oh my goodness! We were walking down the street and saw this cute place. Little did we know that we will be so impressed! I had Rueben and my husband had spicy peanut bowl. It tasted like music to me! All different layers, notes and spices! Do yourself a favor - try it! Oh - and the stuff is super friendly!
Rebar is an institution after 30+ years and still one of best restaurants in town. So glad they survived COVID! Had lunch there today for the first time in a while and was happy to see that many of their classics are still on the menu. Im not a vegetarian but love the quality and freshness of the food here. My favourites are enchiladas, almond burger, noodle bowl and juices from the juice bar. Service was great, and the pricing is very reasonable considering the size of the portions. I rarely give 5 stars on anything but Rebar deserves it.
Dont understand the hype, food felt low effort, as did the environment. Maybe you are paying foe the central location. Tomato soup had chunks of onion in it and was very sweet.
the best meal I have had in a long while (and I eat!). Super friendly service. Monk s curry (green curry) was exceptional. Stronger Lemongrass flavor reminded me of eating in Thailand.
Great grub with some really good, long standing, vegan options. I love the Tempeh Rueben.
Wonderful meal on the patio with band playing down the street best summer evening!
Excellent selection on the brunch menu. The staff made us really welcome and were clearly passionate about their food and service. We happened to be passing and are so pleased we popped in. As a customer, I couldnt fault this excellent independent eatery.
So fresh! So delicious! Wholesome ingredients, assembled with love. Rebar delivers the perfect respite from overly indulgent travel fare. We split the Rebar salad and the kurosawa with an emerald city & cold defense juice. My friend and I are now walking examples of health and wellness.
Great food! Large portions. Superb fresh. We had the rock cod burger and the rock cod tacos.
One of my fav underground (literally!) spots. The BEST fresh juice and smoothies in town. Amazing vegan and veggie options that are delicious for even those meat eaters. As a non-restricted diet eater myself, I d highly recommend checking out the Almond Burger. Delish.
Amazing food with huge portions. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options, as well as a couple pescatarian options.
Lovely atmosphere and the natural light the restaurant gets for most of the day is stunning. Amazing vegan food, my favourite being the Monks Curry. Staff are also really kind and do a great job. Even if youre not vegan its a real treat getting to come here!
Vegetarian options: Its mostly a vegetarian restaurant . But it has fish tacos.
Pita and hummus was awesome!
Food was alright kind of bland and our waitress forgot we were there but will go back just in case it was an off afternoon ....
I highly recommend the Rebar Caesar Salad and Bombay hummus and pita. The Ceasar salad is one of the best that I have had . The croutons are Fresh and homemade and the Parmesan cheese is fresh . The food is always consistent and I keep coming back year after year.
Here s what you don t know from reading the menu. On the breakfast sandwich the egg is enveloped in griddle crisped cheese that overflows the bun and is worth a meal here in and of itself. Also loved the Huevos Rancheros and Tempeh Reuben.
Great place to get tasty vegetarian and vegan food. GF option available
Vegetarian options: Rebar is mostly a vegetarian restaurant. They do serve fish and eggs but no chicken or meats. They make a delicious almond burger amongst other things. The original owners sold Rebar but the quality seems to be the same, based on my experience. (I had an almond burger). Dietary restrictions: Rebar offers dishes that are gluten free, vegan, and vegetarian. Kid-friendliness: Sadly, the new owners removed the dinosaur toys that were kept on display by the original owners. Kids could take the toys to the table and play with them. It was great fun for kids. They had a kids menu too. I think that the menu remains. I hope they will bring back the dinosaurs. My kids used to love them, as did other kids.
We had the tempeh Reuben and mamas breakfast. Both delicious, made with fresh tasty ingredients. Good price and size. Super friendly staff!
My husband and I had a great lunch today - my choice was the spicy peanut noodle bowl - I have enough left over for two more meals! My husband was only going to eat half of his reuban sandwich but couldnt resist finishing the whole thing. Great food, great service. Well be back!
A pineapple, parsley, and a celery walk into a bar and the pineapple says to the parsley . I stopped in with my lady on a whim and we weren t disappointed. Bill our server was a hoot and had some solid recommendations! Try the breakfast sandwich! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
Excellent service, chill vibe, inclusive menu. My partner got the vegan peanut noodle bowl and I got the quesadilla with a salad - both delicious! Miso dressing was incredible. Looking forward to another visit next time we are in Victoria. :)
The food is very good. Recommend the sweet potato quesadilla which sounds strange but is actually really yummy. Only complaint is the service was snails pace slow despite an empty restaurant inside and 3 servers with maybe three tables outside. Our server was particularly spacey, ignored us standing at the entrance multiple times walking by. I finally said something to get her attention and she still smiled but walked by and ignored us. So I walked inside past the please wait to be seated sign find another server/bartender? He was a bit confused too, but eventually took us to a table. 30 minutes, asking three times for water before we could even order. 90 mini urea for food to come. Our parking ran out before we could finish so we had to pack up and leave. Strange experience. Otherwise past visits have been great.
We are not vegetarian but they have one damn tasty brunch menu. Perfect in so many ways with a different twist on the each dish. Only warning, dont sit beside juice prep bar. Very noisy with brender/juicer squealing away for much of the time we were trying to enjoy our meal. But that tells you how good food is.
One of the best restaurants in the town, surprisingly they have lots of vegetarian options, cheers to you guys!!!
Food was good but not amazing. No one greet us or seemed to acknowledge us when we first arrived and standing waiting to be seated.
Pretty good
Mmmmmm!
Lovely and lively lunch. I was visiting Victoria and decided to give Rebar a try. Even though it was past 1:00 pm, the place was busy and bright. Colourful table covers greeted me. I had the full Rebar salad that was both filling and delicious. The lemon square for dessert was just the right balance of sweet and acidic. Staff were friendly and efficient. Enjoy!
I asked for an expresso martini. I took 2! I had to drive, so I didnt take 3. It was not on their cocktail list. Beside, I am going to caution everyone concerning the actual food. It is undoubtedy the best breakfast I ever had in 51 years of existence. Vegetarian options: Numerus vegan and vegetarian delicious options. Dietary restrictions: Delicious wheat free and gluten free options.
Very disappointed! Waited for acknowledgment at front door for 15 minutes. Servers walked right by ignoring us and continued doing other things. Walked out as we were so disgusted they couldn t even look at us even though there where only two tables occupied.
Delicious peanut noodle dish!
Loved the friendly waitress ( Shea ). Loved the Miso Soup with noodles ( tofu, sesame seeds ) + the corn bread. Again, happy the restaurant still around during the Pandemic/after. Great eatery! did not try the Red Velvet Cake sliced. Should had! Next time! =) Will be back!
Wow!!!!!!!!
Great food. Amazing. Big portions. Super fresh. Too bad they are actively participating in medical Apartheid.
Great go to place for both coffee and food. Great pancakes and fluffy soy lattes.
