1623 Store St, Victoria, BC V8W 3K3, Canada
Omelettes, burgers & other casual fare served for breakfast & lunch in a laid-back dining space.
Friendly staff and delicious food! Great environment.
Small and cozy. Service was friendly. It's kind of like home cooked food but better. I'm in love with the breakfast baker. I'm glad this place is far away or I would be eating every day.
Had a heavy travel day yesterday, needed a breakfast spot for a table of six. Called in advance and able to get a reservation if we were there in 10 minutes. The food was a huge portion size. Bonus that they had bubble tea. The only issue was one of our party has a gluten allergy and they were not willing to substitute more hash towns and remove the English muffin for the egg Benedict, but were able to remove the toast for more hash browns with the omelette… We don’t know why one but not the other. We had the veggie omelet, Mexican omelette, breakfast sandwich, and bacon plate. We saw there is an 5% charge if you use any card other than a Canadian debit card. Overall, happy for our party with this find today!
This spot slaps!! So good, everything is fresh. Thank you. Highly recommend
Very good place to have breakfast. No line up but steady busy. Our meal was good. Lots on our plate. We were both full after eating our meal. My husband had an omelette and I had bacon and eggs. Both came with toast and fried potatoes. Also had coffee and an orange juice. Served quickly. A little expensive at $62.00, but that's what it costs these days. She gave us coffee to go as part of our meal.
Wandering, looking for breakfast. As we walked toward what we thought we were going to have for breakfast, we passed the Sour Pickle. The smell of breakfast wafting from the restaurant grabbed my sniffer and led us to the front of the store to look at the menu. A Quick Look and we decided to give the pickle a go. Me and the boss decided on the Mexican omelet and a coffee. What a meal. Toast and crisp, delicious hash browns shared the plate with the main attraction, an enormous three egg omelet stuffed with peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon and onions topped with cheese and salsa sauce. The boss had me finish her omelet but by God I finished all mine too…. Thankfully we had a walk back to the hotel to work some of that big breakfast off. Prices are in line with every other place here in Victoria, however this is a local, husband and wife team that make awesome food and seem genuinely happy to be serving their brand of home cooking to the people. I wouldn’t hesitate to drop in again when we return and try another menu item, wish we had found you sooner!
I had breakfast at the cafe on a recent trip to Victoria and had a very pleasant experience. Would highly recommend for a home cooking experience The location is very central - right at Johnson Bridge Store Street - close to the harbour, shopping, Chinatown. I had the breakfast with scrambled eggs sausages and toast. Everything was made from scratch (just like home cooking!) fresh and delicious. Portions were generous. Just hit the spot. In addition the coffee is bottomless cup. It’s a family run cafe and service was courteous and friendly. The decor is very whimsical and cheerful with special place for pickle decorations 😀. There is a small outdoor seating area for nicer weather days. Very reasonably priced and a much cozier, friendlier start to the day than at bigger restaurants in the area. There were regulars when we dined there which added to the cozy ambience.
This is a very nice small family owned cafe 10 min walk from downtown Victoria. They have great options for breakfast and lunch. Their omelettes are really good! I was surprised by the bubble tea as well. They do not accept credit card. Only cash or debit
I had the Monty Cristo and it was melt in your mouth delicious. The fries were perfect!! Soooo good! My Husband had the spicy shrimp wrap. He liked it but wish it had more shrimp. Definitely get a sandwich with fries.
Eaten here a few times. Always good food. Always good friendly service. Great little spot right in the core of downtown. *Best chicken salad sandwich in town* Food
Amazing sandwiches and coffee! Perfect place to stop for regular sandwiches. Nothing over the top, just perfect BLT s or chicken salad.
They don t update on google, we came here and it was closed.
Had breakfast. One of the best Ive had. Eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly.
Great proportions and delicious fries! I had the soup of the day which was well seasoned and flavourful. The service was quick despite it being pretty busy. I would recommend this spot if you are looking for an easy meal!
This place is great!
Freshly made to order breakfast. I loved the French toast so yummy
A necessary stop every time my wife and I visit Victoria; great tasting food, friendly staff and customers as well.
Really great local place. Extensive menu; food prepared in front of you. The veggies omelet and Monte Cristo we ordered were both excellent!
Got the breakfast sandwich. Was literally the same as an A&W breakfast sandwich but costed 18$ plus change.
Literally some of the best fries I ve ever had in my life. Give this place a try, you won t regret it!!
These little gems are hard to find, fast, tasty, well priced. Im happy this place still exists!
One of the best omelettes I ve had! it s a lot of food too so definitely worth it! The matcha milk tea was amazing too 100% recommend. The service was lovely and very attentive!
Kid-friendliness: They asked us to stay outside without possibility to stay inside while we were waiting for our take out. Food
Excellent Sunday morning breakfast. Omelette really good and mywife had the Quesedilla, equally good. Little downtown restaurant with happy smiles, good service and a comfortable atmosphere
Our first time visiting this lovely restaurant! We are visiting Victoria for the first time . Tom And Michelle( owners were very friendly ! Food delicious .We would highly recommend. Prices weren t any higher than other restaurants . Food
Best omelet ever
Got breakfast here and it was incredible. The space was warm and adorable and the food was incredible and reasonably priced. Will definitely return soon.
French toast is delicious
The place is very cozy, clean, European style. Very popular, almost full, but not too loud, so conversation with friends is easy. Food is hearty and delicious. The service is excellent! Very attentive staff.
Found this as we drove by and decided to go there for breakfast. So glad we found it. Food and service were both excellent. Highly recommend.
lovely spot, we order burger, wrap, Mexican omelette, everything was delicious, big portions, and the host was welcoming and friendly
Amazing service and great food, we enjoyed sitting on the patio with our dog. Will be back :)
This is not the place you remember. Breads are packaged store bought-not homemade. Soup was good though.
Unfussy eats with quick, super friendly service. Great value breakfast, and a chance to eat local. Gluten free toast available! Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available, good looking veggie omelette. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free toast available, can go gluten free with a veggie omelet.
Everything is perfect, just its way too pricey. On top of this, there is a 5% fee on credit cards (not on debit), which I couldnt see on the menyon the menu. Got 4 and not 5 stars, just because of them being a little too much greedy. Vegetarian options: The vegetarian omelette is yummi!
We loved the pickle theme! No pickles on the menu, but the decor was fun!
We were heading to Jam but the line was crazy long so we stumbled into the Sour Pickle. Very old school in a good way. Service is amicable but the food was a bit of a let down. Very basic, under seasoned, and just bland overall. Especially for the price, I was expecting higher quality. Coffee was not included at almost $20/plate. So for $60 after tax and tip for two people, we left full but not fulfilled. I would probably wait for Jam next time.
Good food with friendly service!
So good
Recently dined her on a trip to Victoria. The food and the service was absolutely incredible. Great little spot to check out, highly recommend. Thank you to the wonderful staff!
My favourite place to get breakfast with friends! Every time we go here, we are treated to excellent service and good food at a reasonable price. We will definitely continue to have weekend brunch here in the future. My go-to is the egg enchiladas.
Service was great and the food was as well. Definitely recommend
Lovely little place, staff made me feel very welcome and I thoroughly enjoyed spending lunchtime in this setting. The food was equally amazing, and was prepared fresh and quickly.
Clean, friendly service. Highly recommend the veggie omelette!
Amazing food and service. Nice little place!
A small cafe in the heart of Victoria. This gem has great atmosphere, friendly staff, and excellent menu options. The bacon was crisped to perfection and the French toast was delicious. If youre in Victoria this is a must stop for breakfast.
Food was excellent. Small family business. We loved the French toast, Mexican toast and club sandwich
A small restaurant. Not fancy, but very warm and friendly. We had the veggie omelet and Mexican omelet. Tasty and delicious. Good coffee, too.
Simple food cooked very well. Warm service and super unique cafe. Would recommend!
Great mom and pop cafe restaurant. Real food. Great location downtown.
The Sour Pickle is quite pleasing to dine at. Do not go there if you have time restraints because everything is made from scratch. We waited 20-25 minutes, but it was worth it. The Denver breakfast item is only on their special item menu posted outside the establishment, and I really enjoyed it! The sandwich is toasted to perfection and filled with so many healthy goodies. It came with a side of potatoe salad which was the best I have ever had... ever. The Tortilla Omelet is a HUGE serving with lightly fried potato in the side. If you like garlic, then this is the breakfast item for you. My brother and dad enjoyed it. The Veggie Omelet is also quite enjoyable here. The cheese ontop the egg is notably flavorful with the basil pesto.
Great place for breakfast. Hospitality and attention to the client is on the high level. Strong recommend to visit.
Very friendly people who run this place. Food was good, nothing out of the ordinary, a little on the expensive side.
Perfect home style food!
Consistently great food with consistently great service. The cafe and the people are friendly and inviting. Vegetarian options: Great omelette without the use of ham. Lots of flavour and variety in the dish, all in a generous portion.
Charming, charming, charming! Warm, polite service and a reasonable menu with many tasty options. Try the days soup!
The most immaculate of vibes. If your looking for a slice of Victoria this hole in the wall has it all!
The owners are a hard-working couple, do support their small business. We went for breakfast on both days of the weekend during our stay in Victoria, BC. We were satisfied both the times. Their pricing is on the higher end, but their portion sizes are fulfilling.
very nice staff, was not busy at all and our food came out very quickly. Everything is fair priced and tastes good, exactly what you want for a breakfast meal. In a very cute up and coming area, lots of parking nearby.
Great food! The prices were such a amazing match for what you paid for! The staff was so nice. It s cute and quiet in there too so you can easily here what your friends are saying to you!
food is not delicious and expensive!
Food was very good. But its just some place to eat as far as the atmosphere goes. But hey I am there for breakfast not to be entertained
Amazing food and such a cute restaurant and everyone was so friendly.
This place is an institution, Ive been going here as long as I can remember and its always a pleasure
Great breakfast here and friendly staff. Food came out very quickly and portions were very generous! We will be back!
Nice Restaurant and delicious food
We found this place around the corner from our AirBnB. Really friendly/funny staff, and we had an excellent breakfast. Worth supporting local small businesses even when traveling.
Very chill but quaint environment. The food was very good for a very price. Friendly, personable service. Great to support a local family-run business. I had the classic eggs and bacon. The food came out fast and the home style fries were delicious. My niece had the waffles which came with some apple and orange slices and was also delicious
An excellent option for breakfast, without extravagance but well served. Good coffee and very friendly service. I ordered the eggs with sausage and was very satisfied.
Great breakfast.
Great food for a great price!
Great service but disappointed with the small basic sandwich, VERY overpriced for what you get ..
Awesome food, great service at a reasonable price.
Great local business, good food, affordable. The owners are lovely and friendly, this is an excellent breakfast option. The food, service, coffee - thumbs up all the way.
Service was very good. Followed up on food and coffee, not watered down coffee either, friendly service. I had the 2 eggs and Sausage. The eggs were perfectly cooked overeasys. The bread was bland and I got a little packet of kraft strawberry jam without any offers for other kinds. Potatoes were bland and dry. Like something I make in a rush at home because Im late for work. Breakfast sausage were a descent breakfast sausauge like something you get at coras. Overall its a place I would eat again if joining others but not gonna choose this as a place I love to eat at or that I would return because I want breakfast.
Cozy spot, good prices and great food. Simple and delicious.
Tiny place with friendly folks providing good service & good food.
The egg enchilada was awesome! Super cute little cafe with good solid food
Very good service and food. The lady was nice and the food was out fast
We enjoyed the all day breakfast. Friendly food service.
Very cozy and live the environment, fairly cheap, good food. (And lots of it)
I m a regular breakfast customer at the Sour Pickle Cafe and love this place!!! I regularly stop in for a yummy breakfast and usually get their Vegetarian omelette. The owners are very friendly, the food is always very fresh and good tasting and these people always have a smile in their faces. I highly recommend that you try this one out, you will not be disappointed. Thanks Sour Pickle for always doing an excellent job in serving Victoria food good!
Taste nice and service nice
Don t be fooled by the clever name. The only thing that is more sour than a pickle is me right now. There was a shelf of kids books beside my table, all related to pickles and I wanted to see the titles, but was quickly scolded and told not to touch them because of covid. There was no pickle related foods except one sandwich with pickles on it. I asked for extra pickles and it came with 2 coin sized pickles and I was charged extra.
The quality of food was amazing. The owner herself was very friendly and takes good care of her customers. The breakfast was delicious, we ordered a few things and everything was amazing. It was our first time there as we were on vacation to Victoria from Toronto and Seattle. We looked for breakfast places in the area online. Best decision to go to Sour Pickle cafe. Very happy and satisfied with the food, quality and quantity. Highly recommended.
Great service. We had breakfast and it was excellent. Highly recommend.
Possibly the best omelette Ive ever eaten. It was the Mexican Omelette and the appearance and taste were amazing. It was filling to boot.
Delicious food, big portions that you can share for 2. Liked this place!
Best breakfast in town! We went there twice during our stay in Victoria and came out super happy. Try the veggie omelette and the shrimp sandwich
This is a very small cafe located in downtown Victoria. The menu has plenty of dishes to choose from and Ive been going back to this cafe because of the top notch food and friendly service. Prices are a little high but this also reflects on the proportion of food you recieve. The serving sizes are larger than most cafes offering the same dishes. Located a block away from the harbour and has a small outdoor eating area. Place is always busy but worth the few extra minutes to wait for delicious food everytime.
The waffle serving is smaller than what I thought, generous whipping cream and overall taste great. But I enjoyed the breakfast wrap more. I love the salsa, sour cream and ketchup that was serve on the side. The breakfast wrap portion is huge so it is better if you share it.
Best kept breakfast secret in Victoria !
Super cute little corner cafe. Huge portions and a great place to stop by to get your fill.
Great service and great food, and at a reasonable price
Very fresh food. Generous helpings!
A wonderful place to eat. Real food that is cooked well. Wonderful service and good prices. I felt like I was at my grandparents house!
Great service, good bottomless coffee, large portions on meals that taste and feel like good home cooking... and reasonable prices. I love this place
Very friendly owner. And above all, cheap and tasty.
Just okay - only posting because it s so highly rated. Not sure how, but we were really disappointed. Service was friendly. Menu and food were underwhelming. We passed a number of places that looked good on the way here, thinking it would be something special. It was not.
Came across this little Cafe today and I need to tell you that we had such a tasty breakfast, if ever back in the area again we will definitely come back.
Mexican omelette was amazing. It could be shared with your special partner...so much food for one!
Wonderful cafe with very patient and happy to please staff. The food is delicious with a great variety. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable and tasty cafe experience.
went yesterday, probably the best service I ve had hand down. Food was amazing, our coffee was always full and the owner was nice and cheerful 5/5
Great little hole in the wall spot. Will not that there is not many tables within the restaurant if you re planning dine in. The decor is what you d expect of a name like Sour Pickle cafe.. there are pickles everywhere, it makes it interesting. The service was quick from our orders being taken to our meal being served. The food was also good quality for a good price, quite tasty. I highly recommend checking out this spot for a breakfast/brunch area.
My favourite place for breakfast when I visit Vancouver Island! Wonderful food and friendly owners
Tasty breakfast.
The space is homey and the service is warm and efficient. I had the tortilla omelette and it was AMAZING!!
So cute and cozy in here.
Welcoming and delicious!
Simple food done right, had the Monte Cristo and loved it. The waitress was friendly and its a nice mom and pop place which is nice to see. Would recommend for people visiting Victoria Chinatown.
Amazing cozy spot! Service was so friendly and attentive - I never had an empty cup of coffee. And the veggie omelette was tasty and STACKED with ingredients. Wanted to finish it but I couldnt. Big thumbs up!
Best Mexican omelette in Canadá I recommend!!
Prompt fresh exactly as ordered. Yum
I RARELY leave a review here in Google but I think this place is a hidden gem. There are tons of brunch spots in Victoria but I advise you to check this place out.
Amazing value. We had hearty and tasty omelettes. Generous portions and excellent service. Can t wait to return.
Mmm French toast
Good food and great coffee. Stopped here for a cheaper breakfast while in Victoria and enjoyed it.
Reuben Sandwich was nothing special. Potato salad was too salty to eat. For a place called the sour pickle I was very disappointed to not get a pickle. Get your deli somewhere else or have low expectations
Home-y, cheap and delicious. Nothing too fancy but that s the idea. Never had a more perfectly cooked set of over-easy eggs.
The owners of this unique space have been feeding people for 18 years in Victoria. I understand why their regulars keep coming back. The food is great, as is their service. Prices are great as well!
Such a quaint little place friendly and really good breaky
Unreasonably expensive.
This restaurant is in a great location, but dont let the Cafe in Sour Pickle Cafe fool you, they only serve regular coffee, no specialty coffee drinks. We ordered the breakfast sandwiches, which were pretty much just microwaved grocery-store hamburger buns with Costco deli-meat ham, eggs, and cheese. It was the type of meal you would make if you are a student on a strict budget trying to be creative, but the next time you made it youd probably change it up. You are much better off going to McDonalds and getting a breakfast sandwich, itll be a quarter of the price for a much tastier breakfast.
Excellent food and kind people
Very delicious! The omelette is so soft. I love it.
Really good spot for breakfast! Small and owners (I assume) were great.
Great food and service
Great tiny old skool diner. Friendly owners.
You just cannot miss this place!! The hollandaise sauce on eggs Benny will be one of the best youve ever had! And everything else on the menu is exceptional! My photos are of eggs Benny and a Monte Cristo with salad. Worth the ferry ride just for breakfast.
Basic breakfast fare - old school - served with a smile
Great atmosphere, great service, best pickle Ive ever had. 10/10 BUSSIN!
ABSOLUTLY BUSSIN! Best pickles Ive had in my life. Great service and its they definitely have a nice vibe. I was pleasantly surprised by how much food I got and how tasty it was. Easy 5/5 Also, Admin Sameni, why didnt you give this place 5/5? You only said good things so I dont get why youd give it a 4/5. Dont ever review anything again.
Wonderful spot! Great portions and good prices. Will definitely come back.
Amazing breakfast, a large variety of dishes (Mexican enchiladas are great!), bubble tea and a super friendly and kind environment. Will go back, for sure!
Friendly excellent service. Large delicious portions cooked ti perfection. Very cool interior decor. Will come back
Sour is apt - staff were cold and not very friendly, and the food was incredibly bland. Does the job but thats about it.
Excellent food with reasonable pricing. Even better customer service.
Wonderful service, very friendly. Delicious food. Will be going back.
Friendly staff Delicious food Great portions
Very good food
Amazing food get the enchalada its actually a quesadilla, michelle and tom have an awesome restraunt :)
I operate the crane, on the construction site, across the street for Farmer Construction. Everyone told me the food was great. Today I tried the Monte Cristo sandwich. Best I have ever had.
I really enjoyed the restaurant as a small and quiet place to eat before a busy day touring Victoria. The food was okay, and I only say that because the price was a bit high for standard breakfast fare. I think the pickle decor was very cute. My meal was good but my boyfriends was not.
Great little place for quick, big breakfast. Good coffee and nice people.
Delicious food and attentive staff!
Hot coffee. Good breakfast
Been eating here for 10 years and they never disappoint best breakfast place in vic
Quite good, very large portions, cheerful staff, good price for quantity. I would go back if I was hungry!
Best Eggs Benedict in town. Can t recommend this place enough.
Great for lunches. Unique combinations and awesome pickles! Scenery enthralling in summer, people from everywhere go there
Small yet cosy place. The lady is very caring and seems they have many regulars
My husband and I love to come and eat at this cafe. we sit outside where we are sheltered from any inclemet weather and we watch the world go by....such a nice little spot. The owners are so friendly and accomodating, very nice people, very nice food, very reasonable in price. Check it out!.
Basic, generous, cheap food and hospitable owners.
Great place for unpretentious classic diner style breakfasts and lunches! Highly recommend!
Tasty simple food and lovely owners!
Veggie omelette was super tasty and service was really attentive
Lovely place with good food at a nice price. Friendly staff. Highly recommend.
I absolutely loved my experience here. The staff was very warm and attentive. Simple breakfast that is affordable and satisfying. Ill be returning next time Im in town.
What a great meal, clean, affordable & excellent service. We found a new breakfast place! Thank you Sour Pickle.
Waitress was very friendly. Monte Cristo was good.
Loved this place. Stopped in for brunch one day and it was great. French toast was amazing, soup super tasty too! Love supporting local, family owned/operated businesses. They make great bubble tea too!
Great egg omelettes, fast and courteous service. Very cozy and warm.
Great food owner operator run would recommend them highly.
We went there for breakfast two days during our visit to Victoria. It was a nice simple breakfast that was a good price for what get the service was great both times I would go again for sure.
Good bubble tea and SUPER friendly staff. :) The little lady who seems to run the place is sooo sweet
Welcoming, Affordable and Colorful ! The breakfast enchiladas are very tasty! Staff is warm and friendly! Will come again :)

Terrific food, great service!!!
One of Victorias little gems! Great food and great service!
Prices were great, portions and price excellent, and the staff were really friendly and attentive. I will return.
Great food great prices cozy environment with good service! Portions are very decent!!
Yummy veggie omelet.
This place is fantastic! Friendly service, reasonable prices, and delicious food! I had the veggie omelette which is packed with veggies, and has this amazing cilantro pesto on top. It was the best veggie omelette I have ever had!
Really sweet owners! Make sure you bring cash or Canadian debit card. Great portions for the price and felt local and authentic.
Great food and service
Great food. Amazing service. Very clean. 100% recommend
Their omelette is really good.
Cute little family run cafe with a delicious breakfast menu. The lunch looked great also, very friendly and attentive staff and decent prices.
Ive been going to The Sour Pickle for years, since I was a young child, and its still my favourite place to go for breakfast! Their french toast and sausages are to die for! I consider myself somewhat of a french toast connisseur, and make a point of tasting the french toast at every breakfast and brunch place I go to. No where has come even close to how good Sour Pickle french toast is! Its seriously delicious! If I could only eat one meal for the rest of my life, that would be it!
Not sure why an omelet, 2 Pancakes and 2 cups of coffee came to 27.00
Super nice owners! Their breakfast is very good. My kids really like going there.
Great food and service, my favourite casual eatery
Fast , clean , gracious to their quests Large portions , and delicious . Will absolutely go back .
I wish we d found this place on our first day in Victoria and visited multiple times to try lots of different dishes! The food (veggie burger with fries & my partner had the shrimp chili wrap with fries) was delicious and portions were perfect. Although I had food envy because his wrap was huge! Lovely lady serving us.
Good food, reasonable prices, great service.
Amazing food And service
Very tasty breakfast and excellent service.
Lovely little diner
