We are a family owned and operated restaurant offering gourmet comfort food.
On the few occasions I have visited this café my experience has been the same, - not good. Ordered a sausage roll and lemon cake. The roll had little taste, very little meat and was as hard as carboard, the lemon loaf tasted old. The service is consistently slow. Staff were too busy talking to friends.
My wife and I stopped for a quick bite while on our honeymoon escapade. Very friendly staff and very nice atmosphere. Food is fresh and yummy! Would highly recommend if you're looking for a spot to chill and enjoy and a coffee / beer and a bite to eat. Thanks for having us and the helpful hints on a nice place for a fancy dinner!!! :)
A wonderful, quaint cafe in a fabulous location. I've visited a few times for coffee and snack while on a bike ride. A favorite is their amazing mushroom soup- best I've ever had. Sandwiches are also excellent- very fresh. The outside patio options, as well as the cozy indoor spaces makes this a great choice all year round. Friendly and efficient staff too. Highly recommend.
The location is good, nice outside seating. I was really! disappointed at the food. I ordered a chicken BLT it was more like a lettuce sandwich to make it look big and a tiny bit of chicken and bacon for $14.50. The sandwich was on store bread and didn't even have a side of potato chips, a pickle, or anything. I ordered a spinach fetta pastry to go when I opened it up, and it had almost no filling just pastry. For the price in today's economy, I don't see any value here for what they are serving. Unfortunately, I would not go back.
The Windsor Cafe is an excellent spot to grab a coffee or some lunch. When I arrived the cafe was pretty busy, but there is lots of seating inside and outside, so I was still able to find a spot. Despite being super busy, the staff were super friendly and seemed to know most of the locals by name. The food was delicious. My salad was fresh, tasty, and well priced. The coffee is also of excellent quality and was not too bitter. Overall, I would happily return to The Windsor Cafe in the future and I look forward to doing so.
I had high hopes given the reviews but overall disappointed. $16 chicken blt tasty albeit overrun by lettuce. $26 sweet potato and chicken salad BEYOND overpriced for what received -- less chicken than on the blt, a few slightly warmed cubes of sweet potato, a sprinkling of goat cheese. Service friendly and nice assortment of baked goods and coffee. I just can't recommend the mains.
What a cute little spot to drop in for a coffee. Or wine. Or a snack. Delightful sitting out front. But even better seating out back in a garden like atmosphere. Service was great.. I just loved how old the building and how well kept up it was.
I arrived at Windsor Park a bit too early for the Oak Bay Tea Party parade (my children are performing in the Spectrum marching band) and this place opened up early for this occasion. I was greeted by a gentleman (presuming Jay) who kindly explained the early opening so decided to come in to shelter myself from the wind & drizzling rain. The food was good; came fast so technically one can quickly eat and go if they're on a time pinch. That is usually me but today I decide to take it slow to absorb the jazz music and the ambiance. Listening to Unforgettable & Just the Two of Us kinda made me think this would've been a good place to bring my former boyfriend (the person with me in my reviews all these years until recently) but his loss. Anyway the sun mysterious shone momentarily as I am ready to get ready to watch the parade. I appreciate this place getting me the glass of water and allowing me to have an entire room to relax and enjoy my meal. I'll make sure to bring my performing daughters here on my next visit. My only suggestion to the cafe is update the social media more as it has outdated information and perhaps use some furniture felt to balance some of the table feet that has cardboard and folded paper underneath them. 😂 Also to the one person who left the awful review saying Cheese Whiz was used for the ingredient, you need to get your olfactory bulb and eyes checked. It is beyond obvious cheddar cheese 🧀 the ingredient used in the menu. Just look at my wrap; it's obvious standard, medium sharpness flavor. (For those who need nitty-gritty details, food is 4.5, hospitality/service 5, ambiance 5, decor 4.5; overall score is rounded to 5 stars)
We prefer to sit upstairs where its quieter. Wheelchair accessibility: Steps to main floor. Stairs to upstairs Food : 5/5 |
Absolutely lovely local business with amazing hazelnut hot chocolate and delicious breakfast wrap. Customer service was decent but the food was superb!
Overpriced poor quality food, the breakfast wrap I ordered was pitiful, overcooked ,menu items are all overpriced, 5$ espresso shot, why ?. ,, seems like they dont care about inflation. Its in a wealthy neighborhood lots of old boomers will be here so of course come here if you want to know what privilege sounds like. I Dietary restrictions: Dont count on eating vegan here Kid-friendliness: Chock full of old boomers, probably will be scoffed at if your kids behave like kids here. Wheelchair accessibility: Its an old house, is an afterthought.
If you want to find an alternative to starbucks atmosphere, this cafe is a hidden gem ! You feel like youre in old England or Scotland and there is so much space to sit upstairs, downstairs or outside. Its beautifully situated in the corner of windsor park. Parking: About 10 parking spots right infront of it or you can park across the street as its right infront of Windsor Park. Not far at all. Kid-friendliness: Lots of space and options for food and drinks. Asked for a kids hot chocolate and they were able to accommodate. Friendly staff.
Nice cafe. Really nice sandwiches and friendly service.
Had the chicken BLT sandwich. It was great! Wandered across the street to the park and ate under the shade of a large tree. Lovely neighborhood.
A hidden treasure in the neighborhood. Good service, great food. All in house created. Even some of the baking goods. Just minutes from the Oak Bay Hotel. Worth the walk.
This was just the thing for a simple lunch in the neighbourhood. The mushroom soup was excellent. Friendly, welcoming staff. Old timey Oak Bay charm. Well be back!
The perfect light meal for a hot summer day: a chilled Perrier coupled with an amazing Pear & Goat Cheese Salad. Although the cafe was busy (and one staffperson away due to an unexpected circumstance), Quinn ably juggled everything and made us feel completely welcome and relaxed. My party and I were delighted with the friendly, airy café environment and the always-delicious offerings. My friend said his Chai Latté was the best hed ever tasted, and hes a fussy man. Wonderful experience. P.S. Updated to recommend that you ALWAYS phone the cafe to confirm it s open. It was closed 2 days this week (June 19-20) and there were several would-be customers waiting in front as I was to meet up with a friend. They did note this on their answering machine, so my bad for not checking the day before.
Yummy salads. Wonderful variety of drink options both coffees and teas as well as beer and wine. The food menu is not huge but all the salads and sandwiches I have had have been tasty. It is a small cafe, so space can be at a premium. They have 2 lovely patios.
A hidden neighbourhood gem in Oak Bay. If there were a Best Server in Victoria contest, Id recommend Carrie, who is the most hospitable and thoughtful waitress Ive met anywhere. Housed in a charming, old shambling house -- perhaps like your beloved grandmothers home -- it comes with lots of healthy lunches and great lattés and such. And looking out over Windsor Park - a lovely view. JDK Parking: Parking outside the place is often available. If not, there is plenty of parking across the street by the park. Kid-friendliness: Very accommodating to all. Wheelchair accessibility: They have it.
First time going there, but I was extremely impressed. The staff are amazing, friendly and welcoming and the Hazelnut mocha was amazing, the deserts I had were super fresh and great flavors. I highly recommend this place and when I do my regular tour guide duties for friends and family that visit Victoria this will be on my list of must stop at places.
Cutest little cafe by the water! Food was yummy and fresh! The staff were lovely and welcoming. A couple rooms you can sit in, felt like an English tea room
Excellent coffee and food options on this corner of Oak Bay
Coffee was good, bagels were fine, but there seems to be missing a character. Staff needs to be more like Shirley Delicious. Next to Windsor Park is a huge bonus.
Great location, simple but delicious food, friendly staff and the home made balsamic glaze is awesome.
I stumbled apon this place yesterday. They make THE best Lavender london fog in Victoria and at a price that cant be beat. They also have a lovely patio. They also have alit of gluten-free options!
Great place for cyclists to stop for coffee, breakfast brunch or lunch.
Groovy little cafe across from the park! Great place to grab a Joe on Saturday and watch some cricket ! Yummy delights to eat as well Food
Visiting Victoria for the week and nearly every day found myself coming back here for their coffee! Especially love the chai tea latte and their breakfast burrito. Went to a few other places and they don t compare to here! Our last visit was by chance as we were driving around finding ourselves lost while trying to find a place to shop. Came out of the residential area and immediately recognized the field that was in front of the cafe and we just had to stop here one last time. Quickly became our home away from home. :) Parking: Plenty of parking along the street. May depend as there was a soccer game happening on the field and spaces were sparse.
Such a lovely café! The food is delicious (the balsamic vinegar with honey is to die for), the staff are so friendly and wonderful, and the view of the park across the street is a nice bonus. Theres a cute vintage bathroom upstairs. And if youre up there - make sure to sit in one of the two comfy chairs!
Lovely!
Food and drinks are a solid 10/10, really comfortable seating and friendly staff.
What a calmly beautiful place! I had a really nice tea and a bagle. The staff was very kind and helpful and it wasnt too expensive either. Would definitely go again if Im in the area!
Fantastic spot for a meal. Exceptional service and delicious food. One our favorites.
The best lavender oak milk latte in the city
Excellent muffins , very fast service too.
Imagine living every day like you re on a quaint British seaside holiday that s Windsor Cafe. The building exterior has Tudor-style design & the atmosphere is perfect for reading a good book or sitting down with friends jazzy music, a fireplace, an interesting menu with a hearty soup that changes daily, large windows. Perfect if you re visiting Willows Beach. If I lived in Victoria I would absolutely come back regularly.
I went there for my first time today , I got the breakfast wrap . It seemed very basic to me for the amount I paid for it . They used hot dogs for the sausage, the bacon wasn t cooked properly The cheese was cheese wiz . $13.50 was what I paid for it .
Good breakfast.
Cute little local cafe shop in a heritage building with inside and outside tables, seats . Its around the corner from the marina & oak bay beach hotel and beaches .
Been here for 5 mins. This place is a vibe (as the kids say). Incredibly hospitable staff, smooth jazz playing + sea side breeze.
Quinn and staff are amazing. Just stopped in for a nice glass of wine and were surprised to be served a lovely plate of appetisers. Very unexpected but VERY much enjoyed. We shall return. Good job, guys ... than you. X X X
Great pear and goat cheese salad, great coffee, really really great staff. Cute cozy place with wifi too, which was a bonus.
The mushroom bruschetta was delicious. Just the right balance of savoury and sweet.
Visiting for a month I came to love the Windsor Cafe. From cappuccinos , a late afternoon beer or great baked goods and soups everything I needed was here. Had a feeling of Cheers here, after my second trip the owners and staff recognized me and I had plenty of nice interactions with their loyal patrons.
BLT chicken sandwich. Yummy $15.00
Painfully average
Great place
Not open
One of the best service ever all the staff are super friendly and their dessert is amazing
Staff very friendly and great food, and right across of the Oak Bay Marina and Winddor Park. A great place to stop and grab a drink and a snack to enjoy. Lovely place
A cute little licensed cafe. Sausage rolls were delicious. What was most remarkable was the service. The ladies were all very lovely.
windsoior acfe
Great family owned cafe. Love going there for my mochas and snacks. Super friendly atmosphere and great location.
After I purchased a very questionable sausage roll to take out and spoke to them about it, they offered a piece of delicious carrot cake to reconcile. thank you
Always treats me well!!
You couldnt ask for a better place to find a little relaxation. Two patios, one sunny, one shady. Fantastic coffees, melt in your mouth pastries, and the owners are always friendly and welcoming. Beer and wine are available and everything Ive ever tried from the food menu has been delicious. Wish it was closer to me but its worth the trip across town.
A lovely Cafe right by Windsor Park. A lovely place to enjoy a nice quiet cup of tea with a tasty snack.
I love this cafe! They have great coffee, food and now even serve alcohol in the afternoons. The owners are super friendly and kind! There is seating in front of the cafe but they also have a lovely back patio as well!
Always has amazing food and amazing service, cant ask for anything better than that!
Nestled in Oak Bay, a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. The baked goods are delicious and the coffee delightful.
Staff all make sure you have everything you want, with a very pleasant attitudes. Food is always good and the way you want it. Sitting areas are very delightful and very nice surroundings. Good job Quinn the cowboy.!!!
Pleasant coffee shop in Oak Bay. Nice backyard patio. Wide selection of lunch entrees. Quieter than the nearby marina coffee shop. A pleasant little gem
Perfect outdoor patios for Victoria summer! Great menu and friendly staff. Definitely going again.
Good & honest food. Ok prices. Thank you!
Chicken BLT club sandwich completely tasteless. Bring your own dressing and seasoning.
Great food, I had a chicken club that was nice and tender. People were very friendly , and the staff were greeting people by their 1st names.
Gracious, generous, quick service and delicious chicken salad. They accomodated my need for an outlet for my laptop most graciously and food came very quickly. Also had a nice fresh air ambiance.
Wonderful baking and some savories. Nice to sit outside on a beautiful day. Great coffee.
The third photo in Google maps looked like pork belly on mashed potatoes. Silly me going there thinking that I could get the same dish. Nope. They had to scale down the cooking and serve more simple food after the pandemic. So, we ordered Chicken Club Sandwiches, our third one in one week! Well, they win hands down, this was the most delicious Chicken Club Sandwich Ive tasted in a long while. Moist, tasty chicken, enough fresh greens and mayo. Cant say the same for the latte or cappuccino, the espresso was not pressed down enough, and foaming was very weak. As for seating, at one point, it seemed like my sandwich was going to be stolen by a visiting dog. Thats casual outside seating. Five stars for the Chicken Club, minus one star for the terrible coffee drinks.
Great service and very pleasant personalities.
Came for lunch. Love the atmosphere (restored house) with many cozy rooms. Had the wrap and mushroom bruschetta - both were amazing! Highly recommended.
Excellent food and very cozy atmosphere, with soothing jazz and wonderful seasonal menu. I hope they are able to stick around for the longterm. I think i just found my favourite neighbourhood haunt! Oh and the staff were very accommodating and friendly. This place is a gem and Im so happy its just around the corner, off the beaten path for us folks who prefer the quiet corners of the world.
Charming place with excellent food.
Very good stuffed mushrooms. Good service. Pricey.
Good Coffee & Muffins!
I honestly love the owners and to do the food they do with the kitchen they have is quite remarkable.
Great food and perfect for a hygge Sunday sheltering from the cold!
Feels like a small town cafe and everyone is polite, coffee is great too.
I love this place and would recommend it to anybody ! Not only is the food good but the staff are just lovely ! Also look at the fabulous art on their walls ! Bring your friend or your parents. They won t be disappointed !
Impeccable service, fresh and delicious food, to discover
Last Sunday, St. Patrick s Day our hiking group (21 of us) had lunch at Windsor Cafe. From the booking process, the seating, service and food everything was wonderful. We were given the upstairs dining room all to ourselves which made it so nice for us to socialize with everyone. The staff serving us were very efficient and our meals were delivered in a timely fashion despite them telling us they have a small kitchen and there might be delays. As far as I could see everyone enjoyed their choice for lunch , my apple salad was delicious. I would highly recommend the Windsor Cafe for a group or individually. The owners are especially personable and eager to please. Thanks to you and your staff!
Cute place! With some nice outdoor seating. A bit on the pricey side, but quality food. I had the butternut squash bruschetta which was quite good, and an iced almond mocha. Their desserts also looked tempting but didnt try. Service was good. Only wish they didnt use plastic straws :/
Nice people, good atmosphere. Only reason for 4 not 5 stars was the cheesecake was $6.50 and Im cheap.
Had a nice 12 oz coffee and a spanakopita in puff pastry both were delicious
We walked past this place and came back later for lunch. It had a lovely patio, casual and friendly. We had our 4 month old with us, we had a delicious lunch while sitting outside and looking at the park across. Great food, friendly staff, would for sure come back on our next visit to Oak Bay!
A place with nice atmosphere and great chef. It was so delicious even though I didnt prefer chorizo. What did u put in my dish..? Already miss this restaurant.
Our party of 8 enjoyed a fabulous lunch at the Windsor Cafe this past weekend. The owners Jay and Quinns warm personality and attention to detail shine through every aspect of their establishment. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxing. The place tastefully decorated with beautiful original art. Our server was a personable, efficient young man who clearly loves his job and the place where he works. The dishes our group ordered were all fresh and delicious. The prawn scampi, mascarpone stuffed mushrooms, and chorizo mussels were outstanding. Highly recommend!
My friend and I went here for lunch today....while the food was excellent the service was poor....we wanted to ask a few questions about the menu....we asked one question and the server walked off.... Leaving us speechless!....we were left alone for a long time and couldnt get anyones attentions as they passed by in the hallway....we needed more hot water but had to wait ages to get it... for a while we were the only ones sitting inside downtstairs and we felt completely ignored.....my friend and I frequent many places in town and as I say the food was very good, however the service left much to be desired.
The best Cafe in town! Would always recommend to anyone looking for good experience in Oak Bay.
epic
Great little place that is far enough out of the way to stay quiet but lively enough to feel a sense of community. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Tasty dishes, great wine and lovely proprietors.
Had a great meal and at a fair price . its close to the Oakbay marina so we went for walk .
My go-to place for getting my morning coffee before work. Pastries are delicious. Owners Jay and Quinn are delightful and make you feel right at home. :)
A very nice place for breakfast and lunch. The staff is very, very pleasant! Food is very, very good. Price is reasonable and fair.
The owners Jay and Quinn did a fantastic job renovating this place. The staff is incredibly nice and the food was delicious. We ordered the Brisket Sandwich which came with a side salad from their lunch menu. And my oh my was it ever delicious. It looked fabulous and tasted even better! The meat and sauteed onions were perfectly cooked and the sauce (I believe it may have been horseradish) added an amazing flavour to the sandwich For dessert we had a 7 layered cake, made with coconut, marshmallows, nuts, chocolate and other goodness. It was a little hard to cut, which we didnt mind in the least seeing that it was gone within seconds anyways ;) If you havent visited the Windsor Cafe, you definitely should! We know we will be back for sure.
My wife and I stopped in last Tuesday for lunch. We both had the Braised Brisket and garden salad. Let me start by saying that they were extremely busy. The food was out of this world, fantastic. Fresh and very flavourful. And the staff were super friendly and perfessional, while making you feel like you were family. This is definitely a must for breakfast or lunch. We will be back very soon.
We have been twice now and each time the service and food has been top notch. A fantastic addition to the neighbourhood!
unispired. fresh pastries clearly frozen and reheated.
Really nice place, friendly staff and great eats!
Small cafe with pricey food. Only had a coffee. The food looks inventive and good but well overpriced.
Beautiful, bright, and a daily changing menu locally sourced! Cant wait to go back
Fantastic service! Beautiful location with patio seating in front and back of the cafe. Our lunches were delicious, flavour was spot on. Our only constructive criticism would be the side cabbage salad. We werent loving the flavour and it didnt go especially well with the chicken, bacon & avocado baguette. A seasonal leafy green salad would have made the meal perfect! Fresh fruit tarts were a delightful way to end the meal. We definitely will be back!
I tried out the new Windsor Cafe this afternoon. I intended to just go in for a coffee/pastry between home projects, then this happened... a delicious mushroom bruschetta, a great pinot gris, and a chat with Quinn the co-owner. I wish them the best success and will definitely be back. Next time for the mussels!
My husband and I are new to Oak Bay and love, love, love this quaint and cozy cafe. The food, great prices, service, atmosphere, and location are sensational. The owners Jay and Quinn and their amazing staff are lovely and extremely hospitable and friendly. It says something when you walk into an establishment and they know your name - and the name of your dog. :) I am impressed by people that are willing to take a risk and follow their dreams - and this is clearly their dream. This cafe is a gem. Cant recommend this highly enough. Thank you Jay and Quinn for making us feel so welcome.
This location has been longing for a successful restaurant/café and I am so pleased with what is on offer at Windsor Café! This is a perfect place to stop in for a latte, muffin, lunch or dinner. I can see people snapping up the cute back courtyard for group events and meetings in the summer. Bravo!
Nice friendly service and pleasant atmosphere. Great place to get together with friends over a light lunch.
Beautiful spot, great coffee!!
excellent
fun and intimate little spot in oak bay near the water. come early for the brisket, it sells out quickly for a reason.
Owner operated with passion and excellent customer service. The owners and staff welcome you as if you were their personal guests in their home. Excellent food. Great patio.
Went for lunch, had a decent BLT but the side of what they called coleslaw was just raw chopped cabbage, carrots, and onion. No dressing. Service was good, the coffee average, and since the patio is not licensed yet I couldnt get a beer.
Great food. Service was also organized and pleasant.
Excellent coffee and food, including delicious light meals.
Very friendly service and a tasty coffee as well
Fantastic food quite setting great place for dinner or lunch
A great, pleasant place. Good food, and excellent ambience. The upstairs dining room is a treat -- and has great acoustics! Quiet, unobtrusive jazz for music! Such a treat to have a pleasant place where you dont have to talk over the background. A few days later - met a friend for coffee on their back patio -- again, a treat - and really good coffee too. Im not in the habit of giving five stars - but this great neighbourhood place deserves it!
Great place. Nice patio, front and back.
Delicious fresh food, attentive and very kind staff, and gorgeous patio. The kitchen made accommodations for food allergies, and the menu had enough variety to please everyones palate. I had a lovely experience at the Windsor Cafe!
We called in at this café by chance when we were in Oak Bay and waiting for a bus back to downtown Victoria. Beautiful setting with great coffee and cakes etc. Didnt get chance to try anything else, but loved the place and will be back there again next year in May (2019) - one of the reasons we are choosing to stay in Oak Bay next year (we are from the UK) is the fact that this café is there and provides such a lovely amenity to this area. Well done to the owners!
Good coffee. Great customer service. Jay is so friendly and willing to help.
This is a great little cafe with delicious baked goods and coffee. Super friendly staff and a sweet patio front and back
Fabulous food and desserts with a very good understanding of preparing foods that may be enjoyed by people who also live with Celiac. Delicious
Little eclectic place that had a good menu selection and outdoor seating. This place is dog friendly at the outside seating.
Overpriced
Delicious food, great service and wonderful atmosphere. Whether it be for morning coffee, mid-day meal or a gourmet dinner, you are in for a treat at The Windsor Cafe. What makes it so special here are the owners, Jay and Quinn, whose passion for great food, exceptional customer satisfaction and inspired menu will make your experience a truly memorable one. Id like to book my next reservation, please. Mike.
Great spot, nice food, friendly service.
Excellent location for weekend walk near the water and grab a bite to eat after. Staff make you feel like youre at home. Food is great, coffee is great too.
Excellent service, lovely outdoor seating area, both in the front (sunnier) and back (shadier).
A largish group of us (10) dropped in and staff smilingly seated us all together upstairs. Dont let yourselves be scared off by the cozy seating just inside the front door. Theres much more available.
Great baked goods, lovely oak Bay style location.
Stopped here on a whim midway through a rainy bike ride. Cozy little spot off the beaten path, with a small selection of baked goods, a bigger selection of wine and liquors, and a surprising amount of seating capacity. Not the hippest coffee joint weve ever visited, but a nice quiet spot to grab a pick-me-up.
Absolutely loved this place, the food was delicious!!!
I took my physically disabled mother for lunch today, without a reservation, and the staff were so kind and accommodating. The menu was tantalizingly diverse, and we will be returning to sample more of the menu. Thank you
Great place for coffee and a treat!
