Loved their chicken wings! Very crispy and flagourful. We also ordered some oysters. Their ravioli was okay. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant! Service..it was just okay. The lady who served us looked uninterested and cold. I feel like she was just serving because she had to? if that makes sense. Also, both me and my mom had diarrhea a couple hours after dining there and til now as I am writing this review at 1am ;(
Made reservations for our anniversary, the romantic ambience, the view, the food are absolutely perfect, our server Scott was an incredible host to us, made us feel welcomed, gave us great recommendations for drinks, when we mentioned to him we were celebrating he was very genuine to congratulate us and order dessert on the house, the food was delicious, overall we had an amazing experience, well recommended.
Tonight’s dinner was spot on. Everything about the dishes and service was perfect. A really big thanks to the management team (Kieth) aswell as to our server Lauren who both went above and beyond for us to ensure they left an ever lasting impression. Can’t express enough gratitude for the perfect service aswell as most tasteful dishes we have had in quite sometime. Thanks so much. We will definitely be back again soon. 😊
Great staff ! ( our waitress Lauren was Awesome) the restaurant was quite and the views few uninterrupted. Food was soo good as usual! ( 10 oz steak and all the sides 😋)
Understaffed. Super long wait for food. Looked like it was thrown on the plate, or dropped on the floor and scooped back onto it so we didn't have to wait more than 45 minutes for the food . This after seeking out the manager who we couldn't find and spoke to the bartender who apologized due to staffing. Server didn't communicate much, slow to refill drinks. Ok views if you get seated in the better spots facing west. The meal my wife had was the Angus. Cooked good and healthy portion but the veggies looked like someone threw a party for tomatoes and a few uninvited carrots showed up, but they let them in anyways, then 2 tiny fingerling potatoes saw them and decided to crash the party. Everyone had too much tequila and the result was as messy as a hotdog thrown down a hallway. My ravioli was ok, but flavorless sauce and wasn't hot because mistiming with the steak. Totally underwhelmed!
Breakfast/brunch Summary: Stars for the service and view. Food however leaves a lot to be desired and was not satisfactory. Called and the lady was super nice and accommodating. When we arrived we were asked right away if we had any reservations. They accommodated us but said we couldn’t stay long because there was another reso after us for that table (which worked out perfectly because we were in a rush.) So reservation is highly recommended. Everyone we encountered seemed genuinely nice & our server (she was an Asian lady) was all smiles. Breakfast prices were decent for the atmosphere and view but sadly lacked flavor and none wow’ed us. The potatoes though I was grateful were not greasy, however were way too dry. Though my 10 year old daughter did enjoy her kids waffles and scrambled eggs. Big difference in quality and flavor when we ate at Frankie’s Modern Diner the next morning. Frankie’s does not have the view but the food was delicious. I suggest maybe going here for lunch or dinner instead.
Amazing view around sunset, well done food! We tried the flatbread, vista 18 greens and mussels for starters. As for the mains we got the herb roasted chicken with butter poached wild prawns which was very juicy and full of flavor and grilled lamb t-bone with added prawns. We finished up with birthday celebrations with a white chocolate macadamia fresh baked cookie and the creme brulee, both were amazing! Definitely highly recommend, specially around sunset time to enjoy the views.
I have to say, the servers Scott and Juanita really knew their stuff 👏👏. They provided attentive service that was above average, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The view and overall vibe of the place were also really nice, creating a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy our evening. To top it off, the staff surprised us with a cute little birthday cake for my friend, which was a really thoughtful touch. It added a special touch to the dining experience and made the occasion even more memorable. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the food. The steak we ordered was a letdown. We asked for a medium, but it came out well done. That was a big disappointment. We were hoping for a juicy, perfectly cooked steak, but it just didn't deliver. ☹️ The squid dish was also underwhelming. It lacked the flavor punch we were expecting. It fell flat and didn't leave a lasting impression. However, I have to give credit where it's due. The batch of oysters we had was a saving grace. They were fresh, flavorful, and really saved the meal from being a total disappointment. We thoroughly enjoyed the oysters and they were definitely the highlight of the dining experience. In conclusion, while the service and ambiance at Vista 18 were great, the food didn't quite live up to expectations. The overcooked steak and lackluster squid were major letdowns. The oysters were the only shining star in an otherwise mediocre culinary experience. Hopefully, the restaurant can work on improving the consistency and execution of their dishes to match the level of service and atmosphere they provide.
Lovely brunch! Tasty hash browns, super fluffy pancakes, and nice thick slices of ham. A nice change from the regular brunch scene. The views are amazing and our server, Efern, was really kind and attentive. We appreciated his attention to detail and professionalism. It was the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion. We felt taken care of, great value for food, and left with fully happy tummy s. Would come back!
My partner and I just went there for their brunch and it was out of this world. Amazing service, delicious food and the view was outstanding. Would definitely eat there again!
What a view. What a meal. What service! Our sever Scott gave a great wine recommendation. He was approachable and knowledgeable. Great evening! Will be back soon Food : 5/5
We were at Vista 18 last night for a celebration dinner prior to the theater. The parking lot had spaces but were so tight we almost were trapped! We ended up parking on the roof and then we had to run in to get a pass and run back out to our car, which made us late for the restaurant. Very stressful! I will never attempt to park inside again. ( this was my 3rd visit ). We were a bit stressed when our hostess told us we were late and shed been trying to call us! Fortunately, theyd saved us a beautiful table in the corner. However, there was a table directly behind us, with 4 people who were extremely loud and that kind of ruined the ambience for us. Most of the restaurant was empty, so it was strange that we had to be seated next to a rowdy table. That couldve been better planned. Our server ; Drew was absolutely friendly with exceptional customer service skills. All his suggestions were absolutely perfect for us. Especially when we were trying to decide on the wine. Drew was never intrusive & naturally observant to our needs. The Vista chips & aioli was absolutely delicious . The olives yummy too. My Sister had the Lamb Tbone which was perfection itself. My scallops & arugula risotto was a huge disappointment. Drowning in arugula , mozzarella & pesto it was over poweringly unpleasant & for me , unpalatable. To ruin the delicate flavor of scallops like this was a crime. Chef- take note!! I could not eat the risotto. Drew came to the rescue with the peaches & cream Brule with a blueberry cloud of cotton candy! Scumptiously shared! We followed up with martinis prior to running out to the theatre. A great evening thanks to Drew & most of the food. A definite revisit.
A very disappointing first time visit.....when paying the bill for my friend and I, I submitted cash, over the amount of the bill, and advised the waiter I would pay the tip in cash.... he did not give me any change..... therefore missed out on a 20.00 tip.... very rude and condescending.. - he even took my bill, and was rather rude, when I asked for a copy.....A tip is never to be expected, it is a reward for service.........and at the discretion of the guest...... we noted other waiters being very courteous to their guests........maybe because we did not order liquor and our bill was rather small compared to some?????? If you do not like your job, move on buddy.
Best Roof top restaurant. View is stunning. Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian and gluten-free options Parking: Ask the front desk for parking pass and you can park at their parking lot.
Views here are obviously stunning, like the rest of the reviews say. Service and cocktails were also quite good, but it was really the food that made this review fall flat. Miso chicken wings were a cool idea, and came out fine, but lacked any real pop. Scallops were cooked well but also lacked flavour. Steak was severely overcooked when it arrived, but that s no problem. The server was prompt and apologetic. The unfortunate part was, even though it didn t seem to be busy at all in the restaurant, it took over 30 minutes for the new steak. When it finally arrived it was in fact cooked nicely, but once again the dish lacked anything memorable when it came to flavour. Would recommend this place for a sunset cocktail for sure, but if you re looking for a nice meal there s plenty of better options in the city.
Vista 18 is an interesting establishment with an above-average location and views. The atmosphere is upscale and modern, but the wait/cook staff havent quite caught up to the standard it tries, and somewhat fails, to set for itself. There is tremendous culinary potential that juxtaposes the stark reality, that Vista 18 seems more intent on being a cocktail bar that simply coincidentally sells food as well. Making reservations was easy, but finding the restaurant was difficult, and hotel staff seemed unwelcoming to diners who arent guests renting rooms. Further perpetuating the principal issue that Vista 18 does not hold itself to a fine dining standard; first and foremost. Moreover, it carries itself as just another bar or restaurant burdened by its relation to the Chateau Victoria hotel. From the time of ordering to the time of receiving food, approximately 45 minutes had passed and my date and I saw our waiter no more than twice. He was quite nice in the few interactions we had, but sadly the establishment gave off an air of understaffed. If you arent getting alcoholic beverages, options are quite limited. But if youre in a mood to be inebriated, if nothing else, your cocktails will be made promptly and delivered just as quickly. If you can get service, its phenomenal otherwise, you may be waiting all night. As far as the food is concerned, the ingredients were indeed fresh and delicious, but the plating lacked concise vision. The Roasted chicken and Prawns was a messy and unrefined dish. Perfectly cooked, simply needing more time and thought to be exemplary, in my opinion. My date, suffered through the 10 Oz Angus Steak which she ordered as Medium but came to us quite tough as Medium-Well to Well-done at best. The lime butter and vegetables were excellent additions though. Prices are higher than average for average-quality dishes and cocktails. The drink menu is about twice the size of the food menu, youd be forgiven for confusing the two. Cocktails are creative and quite delicious, the wine selection also being extensive. Gluten Free/Vegan options are clearly labeled and easily distinguished, giving it points for accessibility. The food menu could benefit from an overhaul, if it got half the attention the drink menu receives, I wouldnt have felt prompted to write a review. One caveat, that Id be remiss to not mention, the servers gave us a free desert for my birthday. Which was a very nice gesture. However, the desert menu lacks diversity and creativity. Even without cost to us, the Peach Brule lacked cohesion, distinguished flavor, flair, and jenaisequois. Anyone who frequents Michelin-Starred restaurants may not be impressed by Vista 18. An interesting gimmick, a nice view, sub-par service and food for the price. The casual diner might find better culinary experiences elsewhere in Victoria. If youre a hotel guest I implore you to try the bar. TLDR; Worth a try, perhaps not worth a revisit.
The food was pretty good, the view was amazing, the waiter was very good but it was a little dark for eating. Hard to see your own dish.
Beautiful views, decent happy hour, but the service could be a lot better.
Perfect place for date night. Great staff, great view, and great food. Mussels were to die for, salmon was fantastic. Plating and presentation is superb Food
Pretty cool view and always great food and service. Love this place.
The view was amazing! I had breakfast there, and it was so yummy. The pancakes were like cotton candy in my mouth.
Fabulous view overlooking the city and the Happy Hour is a great time to visit, 3-6PM. Theres currently a sale on bottles of wine but we decided on the Three Finger Ca red and it was everything a good wine could be. The mussles and sliders were great. Nicole our server was very friendly and helpful and lovely! :)
Gluten free french fries!
I get the feeling in a dinner restaurant such as this that to justify the prices they use in terms and ingredients on the menu to give the allure of fine dining. Maybe just the modern way. Except that of the four of us dining only one of the meals was very good. A friend had the tuna and said it was exceptional. My spouse had a burger she did not finish and said it was dry and tasteless. i and the friends wife had the sable fish with an asparagus compote and asparagus on top of a beet potato patty. The asparagus had had a birthday in the steamer. The compote it was floating in was tasteless. To be honest i had never had sable fish but it was also devoid of flavor.
Enjoyed every single moment if the evening.
Fine dining with a wonderful view. We enjoyed a late supper and was it ever amazing. Greeted and served by friendly staff. Enjoyed an amazing meal! (The tuna and steelhead were amazing) And watched the sunset over the Victorian downtown from the 18th floor. Our meal was finished off by an exquisite Creme Brulee, and the waiter even gave us two glasses of champagne on the house. A wonderful dining experience!
Amazing atmosphere, great service and food is delish!
Lovely place to eat an evening meal and super views to the east at sunset ( too bright on the west - I need to go back for breakfast!) lovely staff. Others have mentioned Scott and I d agree - just a great host/ waiter, Informative and informed and knowledgeable and charming. Just great. Oh and the food was good too.
I went for happy hour, view and service were nice. You got 7 mussels ($5 extra for bread) for $17 and 7 miso marinated small wings for $14. The curry sauce for the mussels was good, not too salty and not spicy but definitely not worth the price. Wings were fried for too long and thus, not much flavour left. It wasnt even busy so I was surprised about the wings. I had to catch the ferry so I decided not to ask for the wings to be remade
We had some nice appetizers and wine: the oysters and flatbread were great. Then the main dishes came and ruined everything: The stuffed poblano pepper was bland and watery and had no flavour. The chicken burger was overcooked and the bun was completely charred and burned. Our lovely server took it away and removed it from our bill. Picture is the burned bun and burger. Their happy hour is quite nice, I would happily go back for that.
Beautiful restaurant, Beautiful view, and Delicious food. Make a reservation! We were lucky to find seating on a weeknight.
The view is amazing, the breakfast selection is diverse. I had the egg & bean rice bowl without the taco shell. For under $20! Service is always attentive and knowledgeable.
I dined here with my family to celebrate my convocation and was very impressed by the food, service, and overall atmosphere. The gentleman who served us went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our time there and I look forward to coming back again soon.
Great service & view. Elegant drink menu, including very good zero-proof options. Food was creative and top-notch.
Amazing Charcuterie board, nice view since top floor of hotel! Will definitely return!
After the flat bread the food was quite disappointing. Strip loin was tough and lacked flavour. Potatoes undercooked. The vegetarian dish was mediocre (boiled beets, really?) and salty. While the view is great the restaurant decor is quite dated. It has an office tower vibe. But must admit the service was very good - a rare thing in this post pandemic era.
Very gracious staff. Manager is on his game! Im local and its a great experience. 7pm July 19.2024 dinner.
Everything was exquisite. Great views of the city especially the west facing view of the harbour. Restaurant was quiet and dignified service was prompt without being annoying. The service was good with the exception of the wine glasses. The wine glasses were newly washed and smelt strongly of disinfectant which overpowered the flavour of the wine. So sad.
The view was great but the food was mediocre. Not much flavor and incredibly oversold. Great place for a drink, would not recommend for dinner.
Came here for my mothers 65th birthday breakfast and had a fantastic experience. Saisha was an absolute gem. Attentive. Personable. Kind. Caring. Quick. Efficient. And took into account my moms dietary issues to a T, and we had a great, safe, and tasty breakfast. She had the Vista 18 breakfast slightly modified, I had the buffet. We ate well. Things tasted good. The views are fantastic, and Saisha should get an award for her service and professionalism. 11/10 for this fantastic human and 10/10 for a great birthday breakfast experience. Dietary restrictions: Corn, dairy, gluten
We had a wonderful dining experience here with great food and service and a fantastic view of the city. We had the fresh Oysters and Humboldt Squid as appetizers. Then the Sesame Tuna and Pork Tenderloin for our main course. Cheesecake and Three Truffles for dessert. We came back again and had the Mussels as an appetizer, the Sesame Tuna and Roasted Duck Breast with Truffels and Peach Brule for dessert. Delicious!
Some good, some not so good. The view is lovely. The service was friendly, helpful without being intrusive. The food? My two companions enjoyed their meals of steak and pork. My duck, though, was so overdone it was inedible - grey all the way through. I ate half of it not wanting to create a scene, but just couldnt finish. When I commented on this I was told it was because it was done sous vide. No. Anybody using sous vide knows that you can adjust the temperature, so it was the fault of the kitchen. I had to order a cheese plate as I was still hungry, and at the end saw no reduction in the price of the meal despite it being inedible. There are other restaurants in town....
Our go-to spot for lunch, and now dinner! First time trying their dinner and the food did not disappoint. Loved the mussels with bread and flatbread. Appreciated the thoughtfulness of splitting our ravioli onto two plates without us even asking (unlike other restaurants that charge for this service). The view and service were top-notch as always. The hotel doormans warm welcome sets the tone for a great experience!
I m sure the food is great.. but I called to see if they had room for 2 and the lady on the phone was very rude. So we decided not to go. Lady on the phone be nicer next time.
Special dinner for my wife and I, 50th wedding anniversary, we love staying at the Chateau and thought our last meal at Vista 18 was great !Sadly both our meals tonight were not what we expected, my steak was cooked medium rare and was but very tough and parts were so tough to eat , my wifes chicken and prawn was bland except for the prawns , we did bring it to our servers attention with no reaction on his part Sadly we will not be back to Vista 18 except for breakfast and will continue staying at our favorite Chateau Victoria
Vista 18 has the best view out of all the restaurants on Vancouver Island. Absolutely stunning sun sets, cityscapes and the Olympic Mountains make for an unforgettable evening. Our server was a gentleman named Drew with excellent product knowledge of the restaurants food and wine. Drew was a lot of fun with quick wit and positive energy. We are eager to return for the seared tuna, we will be requesting Drew for laughs and great service.
Peter was our server and he was amazing. The view is unbeatable. The steak was absolutely delicious. Wonderful evening Food : 5/5
I did not like the experience because the steak was burnt, the stuffed eggplant lacked taste, it wasnt worth the money, and the staff was passive to my feedback.
The views, food, cocktails and service was great. The peach and creme creme brulee was delicious. We tried the green tea cheesecake but were disappointed. Other than that, it was a great experience. Vegetarian options: They had a poblano stuffed with tofu and black beans as an option.
Amazing food, beautiful view and ambience
Was looking for a place to get brunch while waiting to get on our ferry back to Washington and found this place. The views are amazing here. No matter where you sit, theres a great view. The food was delicious too. I highly, if only for the views. Was a quick walk to the black dot ferry line, so that was a plus too
Classy, chic, city views! I have been to Vista 18 a couple times now. every time I have enjoyed my experience from the ambiance to the views and service! Our server, Scott was funny, informative and relaxed. restaurant interior, elevators, guide you up to a gorgeous city views of Victoria, BC. Glass windows, surround the restaurant. Beautiful at anytime but especially sunset and at night! Food tasted beautifully curated! personally, I felt that no dish needed salt or pepper! Desserts were fun, childlike and unique I had the peaches and cream bourbon Brulé with fruity cotton candy! Looking for to next time! Parking: every time I go, I get my car valid!
Food was good, service was great, views were amazing.
Great place to eat for a date or special occasion.
Good experience overall. Food reasonably priced and was tastier than I expected. Food : 5/5
Very, very ordinary. Food was overcooked - I had the fish and crabcakes. Meh. Cant comment on the wine list, as we abstained. Might have helped. Server was lovely but seemed frazzled. Ambiance? Meh. We didnt have a table with a view on the harbour - I imagine those must be lovely. Nothing about the place was above ordinary, and the food wasnt particularly well cooked, or anything special. We had marked this down as a special occasion. Nothing about the evening was particularly special. We were fed. It wasnt horrible. Just... Meh. Wont be back.
We ordered meals when we came here for lunch, and the food was excellent quality and reasonably priced. Also, the personnel is incredibly polite and helpful.
Vegetarian options: I loathe when places serve alternative milk that curdles in coffee. Food
An upscale fine dining experience that never disappoints . Friendly knowledgeable staff, prompt service and I always feel like royalty as I walk through the main entrance. Always greeted with a smile and a chat by management. Dietary restrictions: I have an egg allergy and it was taken seriously as well as with great care to insure my safety Kid-friendliness: Accommodating to even the busiest little bee we brought
My boyfriend and I came here for dinner and the customer service and restaurant service was great. very beautiful atmosphere and view and ambiance. Would recommend going here for a nice dinner or special occasion.
I was about to give this a four star but I felt like my experience was good from service, cocktail and the soup appetizer (my favourite ) until I got my entree. A pork Wellington, which I received and it looked like a pork steak. There was little to no pastry which I had waited for the server to come back but did not see for awhile which I then looked online to see if anyone else shared pictures of their dish to compare. As a benefit of doubt. He arrived only when I was finished the entree, compared to the beginning where he was around under 10mins or so. I inquired why there was no pastry around the pork, which he quickly informed that he was sorry that he should have mentioned that this is how their pork Wellington is. I was kind of shocked by his response and tired so I paid to leave. These are the two things that bothered me and Ill leave some photos for you to judge. But other than a not pork Wellington which I was excited for the mushroom and pastries that was non-existential. The taste of everything was overall tasty and well cooked.
We had an excellent experience at Vista 18 last night. The food was fantastic, the waiter and staff were professional and courteous, and the location is second to none in the city. The night view is magnificent on a clear night with all of the buildings lit up. It was well worth the money spent. Not the cheapest in town, but the value and the experience is great. I would highly recommend this restaurant for travellers and locals alike.
Terrible food, very expensive for bad taste. Oysters were shucked poorly and the caviar was terrible and fake made out of oil. The food lacked sauces and the pork belly was dry. Everything else was like fast food. Service was good, drinks were good but pricy, and the view was nice. Wouldn t come again
Been coming here for almost 40 years. Used to be called the Parrot House. Always lived the food and view. Service is always top notch. Have stayed in the hotel as well many times. Love this place! My favourite in Victoria
A classic Victoria restaurant with beautiful views and friendly staff. Food was well prepared and flavours were great. Steak was cooked to perfection as was the Ling Cod. The carmelized peach bread pudding was a perfect ending to wonderful meal.
Drew is a fantastic server, food was above expectation and the vibes are perfect. Absolutely recommend, we will definitely be back for more date nights.
Truly a restaurant with a great view. Even on a rainier winter night the view from the reataurant was still beautiful. The food was decent. Its worth a visit for the view and atmosphere of being seated to high above the rest of the city
Can t beat the view, and my Amaretto Sour was perfect. The charcuterie, calamari, spinach salad and the steak were all delicious, the only thing that didn t quite meet my expectations was the tiramisu cheesecake. Other than that, lovely experience and great service! I highly recommend checking this place out
The food was very good, but what made this so enjoyable was our waiter, Scott. He turned it into an experience, rather than a transaction and that made all the difference. Will definitely be returning in the future
We had a party of 5 for Christmas Eve dinner, waited over 90 mins for dinner, obviously some sort of mismanagement in the kitchen or our waiter forgot to place the order, either way we werent impressed. You think the manager would have come out, or offered a free dessert. No they offered a glass of very sour champagne, likely leftover from last year. Very poor experience
This was one of my worst dining experiences in a long while. Service was absolutely tone deaf. I felt ignored by my server. I spent half my meal looking for him. he boasted to us 30 years serving experience. He was rude and unavailable. at the beginning of our birthday dinner he offered complimentary champagne. I explained I was completely sober. he brought some sparkling water instead. We ordered the apple soup that comes with dumplings. After a while he comes back to tell us, the chef doesnt like the dumplings, they were too hard, so hes not serving them and then disappeared without even giving us a chance to reconsider our order, then proceeded to serve us the soup with a major component of the dish MISSING, and then charged us full price for our soups! umm excuse me? I ordered the Wellington. when it came my whole dish was splashed in red wine. the vegetables on top of everything were cooked with it, and the alcohol was definitely not properly cooked out. it tasted strongly of wine. I had to send it back, because as I explained I am sober. Besides that the pork was terribly overcooked but that was a secondary issue. I was pretty hungry by the end because I couldnt even have my main, so I asked for a dessert recommendation that would have no alcohol. He recommended the tiramisu. okay I said. while I waited a long time for dessert I got bored and picked up the menu to find out the tiramisu has a sambuca liqeur! How does this guy not know his own menu items? of course because he was super unavailable all night I had to get up and search the restaurant to tell him I couldnt have that dessert and to just forget it. This was a special dinner turned frustrating and horrible experience. I want my money back!
I had an exceptional experience ordering breakfast from the restaurant attached to the hotel. The bacon, eggs, hash browns, and toast were not only delicious but also reasonably priced. Despite a mishap with my order, the staff promptly called my room and resolved the issue with utmost efficiency. The outstanding customer service exceeded my expectations, and I would gladly give it a 5-star rating. The food quality paired with exceptional service makes this place a must-visit.
The ambiance was wonderful and I loved all the windows! Almost every table seemed to have some view! Having worked in the service industry I was appalled at the level of service for a finer dining restaurant. We waited 15 minutes for our server to address us and when she did, she said I m not here to take your order, I want to tell you about our special. Then she left without taking our drink order. To be honest we weren t even sure if she was our waitress no hello or introduction. After another 10 minutes ( 25 minutes after being seated and still no one had taken our drink order!) we asked the server of another section to have our server come over. The service and attention was a little better as the night went on. It may have been a bad night for our server but at these prices I would have hoped for a server to be more warm and friendly. Her smiles was forced and she seemed frazzled and distracted. I ve had consistently superior service at Glow, The Palms, Marilena, and Il Covo. The apple potato soup was delicious! The mains ( salmon and chicken/prawns) were good. The cheese cake was one of the worst I ve tasted. I say all this truly with the hope that management can take this info.and use it to improve.
We enjoyed a staff Christmas dinner here. Highly recommended!
terrible slow service. Update Jan 2024: returned to give them a second chance and the experience was way better this time. Very attentive staff and tasty brunch.
Fave brunch spot in Victoria. Best views, shortest lineups.
Efren is an absolute gem, always makes our meal enjoyable. He is kind, curteous, knowledgeable, sweet and lovely. Dont ever let him go!!!!
My daughter took me out for my birthday. We were seated in a booth. The uptempo music was playing at just the right volume. The lights were low which allowed for better views and created a very intimate atmosphere and a private feel. We ordered 3 courses. Mains were the pork Wellington, Beef short rib and we also got the 3 cheese ravioli in chorizo bolognese. Truly everything was spot on. Portions were generous. Food was well seasoned and cooked. Medley of flavours was deeply satisfying. We were observing dry Jan and Feb so we had mocktails (YUM) and Royal Jamaican ginger beer (highly recommend). Our server, Drew, was a delight. He didn t hover. He was on the ball and he had great energy and a quick wit. He gave good suggestions on food and wine. We felt welcomed and had a lovely evening. Overall, well worth the trip. All round excellent experience and we would like to try happy hour next. One thing, I d love to have a view of the harbour next time - we were facing the Marriott.
I ordered the Crispy chicken + Waffles excellent combination, the view of the port of Victoria spectacular!
This place always amazes me , never had a bad meal here! They do have a happy hour till 6 (if I remember correctly), food is delicious and service is great. Highly recommend. Free parking if you go into the desk. Food
Tastes good but not worth the cost for portion sizes
Very enjoyable. Look forward to going again.
A wonderful treat with a very satisfying Dine Around menu! Kevin was a very attentive, friendly and professional waiter who clearly takes pride in his work. The food was fresh, delicious and well presented. Always a pleasure dining here and well definitely be back!
We visited Vista 18 to try their Dine around town menu. We started with the kimchi chicken lollipops and roasted sunshine soup. Both appetizers were delicious. We selected the rhubarb glazed salmon and Moroccan spiced lamb steak. The salmon was perfectly cooked and worked well with the lemon salsa and spinach coconut rice. The Morrocan lamb on the other hand was grilled perfectly but lacked some kick in the spices. Desert consisted of warm spice donuts and Chai chocolate cake with ginger ganache. Overall, a great meal with fabulous service and an amazing view of the city. We will be back again soon. Parking: Parking is complimentary but requires a signed pass from the hotel concierge.
We should have read the reviews. But like SEVERAL people have said, the steak was a waste of money. It is definitely not a strip loin in any sense, California or otherwise. More like a giant sirloin. But burnt on the outside and tough all the way through. We also had the Cornish Game Hen which was decent in and of itself. But the cornbread it comes with was inedible. The three stars are for the view and for our waiter. Who really deserved ten stars but the food sadly brought it down to three. It s unfortunate because they could have a fabulous thing going. Head downstairs to Clive s instead. The drinks and apps were stellar there.
A good place for special occasions as the view is lovely. Food is above average and they had lots of allergen friendly options for different kinds of eaters!
Beautiful view, i can t decide if I like it at night or in the day. Food is amazing have anything on the menu it will be good
I love this place. Its unique because its on the 18th floor and also I think its a real treat. The drinks are incredible and so is the food. Staff are always so friendly and attentive. Kid-friendliness: There is a kids menu and the portions are very, very generous for the price.
Loved spending my birthday/Easter brunch there. Atmosphere was amazing, view was awesome and the food was soooo good
Its a more than 5 star worthy restaurant. Service was excellent. Food was tasty and portions were good. And 360° victoria view is breathtaking. But the most important thing, It was not expensive at all.
Buffet is beautiful, delicious with much variety. Staff is efficient and polite. Gets a little loud at peak time but restaurant is designed to minimize that aspect. View is spectacular.
Wow. This is a treasure in Victoria. Highly recommended.
This is an amazing restaurant! The staff get my five star review for the way my granddaughter and I are treated when we come in for brunch. Everyone welcomes us like we are royalty and are so understanding of a two year old learning the social graces of eating in a public place. Thank you to all of you who go out of your way to make us feel so welcome and special. Oh ya, and the food is great and the coffee keeps coming!
My wife and I returned to Vista 18 after a long absence. Mothers Day Brunch was excellent, our server Pam was very attentive without being in your face and the view is amazing. I had previously resisted going here due to limited parking in the area but we werent aware of the availability until we called the front desk. Problem solved! The experience was positive and we left there with smiles on our faces. We spoke with the restaurant manager prior to leaving to give positive feedback.. We will definitely be back! Parking: Parking is available by obtaining a pass from the hotel front desk.
Love it here for food and drinks
I went here for dinner recently and the food was amazing. Chicken wings were to die for. All entree s were filling and we had deserts to finish it up which were delicious as well. Thanks to Peter who served us. We were welcomed by Rohan (the host) and he was hospitable and enthusiastic. He gave us a table with an awesome view and it made our day. Would recommend to everyone
World class food, some of the best! Dinner server Michael left an impression nobody can ever live up to, what a service, such a caring gentlemen, treating diners like royalty. If not just for food, I d come back just to be served by Michael again. Salmon and squid for dinner with a guava passion fruit juice was a very memorable combo, I d have it again. Breakfast is great too, but service is just normal. Potato Green Apple soup with olive oil was the bomb for breakfast! The Artichoke Spinnach benny on their biscuit was really good, I packed one home too and it stays fresh and soft for long time. Wow wow wow! Great vegetarian and pescatarian options!
Objectively the best view in Victoria with very experienced professionals running the place like a well-oiled machine. If you re new to town catch Drew at the bar for some great banter and knowledgeable guidance for where to catch the hidden gems of the area depending on your personal interests.
This was a very disappointing experience. The server (Peter) was actually rude and argumentative. Our cheese plate was missing an item and he not only did not notice before bringing it to our table, when we pointed it out he said that it was the kitchens fault & made no apology. Also, some of the bread included with the cheese board was not fresh. Its too bad because the views are spectacular.
The view was great. We order 4 appetizers and 1 entree, they came within 10minutes. But they were all cold. The food wasn t fresh at all. This would be my one and only time going.
Just came across a lovely add for Vista 18. But had to look up on the internet for the name of the town and phone number. Really?!? Why on earth would you not include the city in your advertisement?
Food & service were okay. Avoid during summer months. It gets very warm behind the west-facing (towards harbor) windows. Food
Ive only ever had brunch at this restaurant, but the food has always been good, and the views are spectacular!
I very much enjoyed the service at Vista 18. My breakfast morning server, Sherry, was the highlight of my day. I m a guest who appreciates great service and both Sherry and Rohan made me feel welcome. Please let them know.
The views are a huge attraction and the food is good.
Had the market special - food was good but a bit pricey. Spectacular view!
The best sky-view restaurant in Victoria! The food portions are just perfect size (not too big) and taste is very good. We also liked the wine menu with lots of BC wines that we usually enjoy drinking at home. The service is amazing - Emma is a very nice person and a professional waiter. Thank you! We will come again for sure.
Food was great. Service was excellent. Our server Scott was very professional and made sure everything was taken care of for us. Highly recommend!
The food is amazing and the view is spectacular!!! I would definitely recommend this place and the hotel!!!
Nice place with great views.
The food is just so fantastic!! You can feel every piece melting in your mouth. The entrees are so good that makes you feel is the main course. Absolutely lovely. I can t wait to visit again.
The steak was amazing so was the fresh baked cookie the staff was amazing and friendly.AMAZING!
Had a delicious meal. Nice view and great service.
I don t expect much from a hotel s restaurant but the food was very good! Had the chicken w/prawns, everything cooked perfectly. The chicken was bursting with juicy freshness & the purée underneath was superbly delicious. Food
The Vista 18 Restuarant and Lounge is located atop the Chateau Victoria Hotel. Got there just as the sun had set, and I can verify the view of the sunset to the west was amazing. We ordered Chicken and Prawns, and also 10oz strip loin.... the entire meal was very spot on. I had to make sure the waiter, whom was also bery delightful and tentative , to let the Chef know we acknowledged his expertise. 75$ each for a couple drinks and our meal including appetizers. I Definitely recommend this very clean and looked after gem.
We had a great experience in Victoria s infamous Vista 18. We were late and called in for a reservation close to last minute but the wonderful Host Sanjana was able to help us with a table did justify the atmosphere everyone mentioned to us about Vista 18. Our server Lauren was really welcoming and helpful throughout our dining experience.
This place is perfect for date night. The atmosphere is amazing. The services are great. Kevin was very friendly and attentive. The food was good but most dishes are a bit too salty for me. There are many options on the drink menu. They also have a kids menu with a few options. The view of the sunset was remarkable.
Vista 18, on the 18th floor of the Chateau Victoria, is a gem - perfect for celebrating a special day, or life itself. The restaurant has stunning views (no surprise how it got its name!), as well as great ambiance, and watching the sunset from that perspective is truly magical. Our food was wonderful, perfectly cooked to order, great presentation - we savoured every mouthful! And I cant say enough about the exceptional service. Scott was attentive, upbeat and engaging, and ensured our experience there was the best it could be.
Absolutely beautiful place for a special meal. The service was excellent.
Superb service, menu is chef designed and tasty. Great place for date night. Our server was amazing, and it appeared the other staff were amazing as well.
I ve been here twice now and absolutely loved it! I can t remember the name of the person who made our drinks but the rhubarb 75 cocktail is incredible and one of the best I ve ever had. The servers are great and just an overall wonderful place to have a cocktail or some delicious food. Can t beat the view either!
Wow hidden gem. Amazing views food and service
This place really is a hidden gem. The food is excellent, diverse and intruiging. The staff are fantastic company. Honestly, a 10/10 experience.
Amazing charcuterie, second to none - always love the twist on the pickled element. Exceptional sesame tuna, again, complete with wasabi cauliflower and saffron thank you, Vista 18, for never letting us down. It was my son s birthday tonight and we could only entrust it to you - thank you to our waiter, as well, for going above and beyond. Thank god there is a restaurant we can go and know it will be awesome every time. Restoring our faith in dining out - well done.
Room with a view yes, nice place. Service wasnt up to expectations. Cups had lipstick, we had to ask & explain why we wanted them replaced. The food LOOKED fantastic, however the taste and mouth feel were not at all matching to the appearance.
On November 5th 2023 my wife and I attended here for our Anniversary. I have never felt so at home and taken care of in a very long time. The food was of excellent quality an taste. Our host Tania we thank you so very much you are a princess!!. Drew our server you are a very wonderful man and excellent at what you do. Your knowledge and suggestions were spot on. To Alex we can t thank you enough for the very special evening, and Carla you simply Rock!!. If anyone is thinking about going here do not hesitate it is 100% a class act. Al&Jen
I visited this lovely spot for my birthday with my folks and it was awesome. The food was fantastic, the service was stellar and the view was breathtaking. Highly tecomme d and Ive heard they do a killer brunch too.
Hadnt heard of this place and got invited for dinner by some locals. Was impressed with the panoramic city views, and food was high end restaurant quality with reasonable prices considering.
The cheese board is particularly good, and the smoked fish that goes with it is delicious. The staple food is also very special. Lots of surprises. The environment and services are in place, and the scenery is actually quite satisfactory. Why is it only 4.1 points?
Vista 18 is an excellent choice for both dinner and lunch, offering an experience that goes beyond just dining. The views from this place are simply AMAZING, adding a spectacular backdrop to any meal. Whether youre here during the day or in the evening, the scenery is sure to enhance your experience. The food at Vista 18 is very good, striking the right balance in terms of flavor and presentation. While it may not be over the top, it is consistently enjoyable and satisfying. Additionally, their selection of drinks complements the menu well, offering a variety of choices to suit different preferences. Ive had the opportunity to host a client appreciation event at Vista 18, renting out half of the top floor, and it was a fabulous experience. The venue lent itself perfectly to the occasion, with the staff providing excellent service and ensuring everything ran smoothly. The ambiance, coupled with the attentive service, made for a successful and memorable event. Vista 18 is not just a great place to dine; its also an exceptional venue to host events. Whether youre planning a special dinner, a business event, or just looking for a place with great food and views, Vista 18 is highly recommended.
View and setting was great table service was an 8, our main meal was salmon which was over cooked and the rest of the plate was dry and not tasty. A little over priced for what you get. Over all experience 7.0....
Great food ( burger , lamb ) and awesome service. Try a Negroni !
came in on a tuesday evening and had the restaurant almost to ourselves! the view was incredible as well as the food and drinks. if you re looking for a unique fine dining experience for your next night out i d recommend coming here!
A nice place to have quality time and quality food. And thank you for our anniversary cake.
Not gonna lie, I love this place.
What a beautiful view for a valentines dinner date. This place is also great for breakfast. Morning and night views are exquisite.
I went for a brunch here on weekend. The view and ambience was great and we had good service too. The ice-cream here is a must try. The breakfast platters are huge too and very budget friendly. Will definitely visit again soon
My husband and I had a mini holiday in Victoria and had reserved at Vista 18 for a Valentine dinner a day early. We were so impressed with the atmosphere, views from our table and the service from our server Nicole was top notch. We will be letting all our friends who maybe visiting Victoria know about this amazing restaurant!
Amazing food wonderful service. The duck was a little expensive and a tad overcooked but the pork on toast was to die for! Overall really happy and cant wait to go back! Great view and polite/helpful staff would definitely recommend.
Fantastic view.
Great view, amazing food and the staff were the best! Definitely going back some time.
A beautiful restaurant on 18th floor of a hotel. Really nice view of Victoria fr the top. Good food selection, good service. I have the sesame seard ahi tuna, cook and prepared just the way i like it. Perfect, served with green beans and mashed potato. My friend ordered beef brisket, and I tried it and it was really good too! We started with stuffed provolone chicken balls, I didn t like it, it was really dry. Good service fr our server Kevin, it s a fine dining but not intimidating, friendly staffs. Highly recommended. When in Victoria try this one. Will try again if ever I go to Victoria.
Nice views from the 18th floor. Kevin was an amiable host. Delicious food despite slightly smaller portions than I would have expected. Lovely ambiance. Would definitely return.
Great food..clean covid friendly Fast service
Spectacular views, suuuuuper friendly staff.
Took my best friend here for a birthday breakfast, as his first time at Vista 18. In my reservation I had requested a table overlooking the Inner Harbour if possible, for the special occasion. Upon arrival we were taken to the other side of the restaurant and seated with a less than desirable view of some buildings below. It was slightly busy, but noticed some empty tables as we walked in, so I inquired about a better table as per my online request. Though not a window seat, our server was able to seat us at an empty elevated booth near the Harbour side of the restaurant, across the aisle from the windows, giving us a view of the ocean! My granola parfait was oddly mostly pineapple chunks, which I left as I dislike them; however, my breakfast potatoes were very good, and my friend enjoyed his benny. Our banana smoothies were also very delicious! Overall, it was a nice breakfast, reasonably priced, and our server was very nice! Would pass on the parfait for next time. *Note: the empty tables pictured were mostly all occupied when we arrived*
Beautiful views of the night lights of Victoria. Food was creative and tasty.
Grate food
Disappointing food. The views and the service were great, however the food didnt meet the standards we were expecting. Reading the ingredients listed everything sounds great but the preparation was often odd. The lingcod had SO much big pieces of ginger on it, too overwhelming to actually eat like that, and the coconut was big dry chunks. All the ingredients are there to make some great dishes but they seem to be trying to hard to be different in how they present things, so different that it doesnt actually taste great. I had a cocktail that seemed too watered down and boring in flavour. It just wasnt as sophisticated as Id expected.
Our server Amelia was fantastic and very accommodating. There was an issue in terms of the serving of the food which was delayed. We came in at 6:30 and had no appies and received our food at 8:10. Super late and by that point a few too many bevies had been consumed by our group. I ordered the steak which was disappointing as it was extremely chewy and grisly for a $40 strip loin. My husbands lamb was also tough. The flavour was great but they need to invest in better cuts for that price. Amelia was great and offered free dessert for the delay and disappointment in our meals. Beautiful view of our city in most places in the restaurant.
We went in for me and my friends 18th birthday. Amelia was fun, helpful and very knowledgeable about the menu. She did a great job creating a laid back lovely experience. Food was fantastic, views absolutely worth it. Will be back the next time we are in the province!
I visited Vista a short time ago, and thought I wouldnt be back after a less than favorable experience. However, when I arrived this time Kyla completely changed my opinion. Not only was she a gracious host, but she also turned me onto something that I loved. Ive had lambrusco before but this one that she suggested knocked it out of the park and paired perfectly with our charcuterie. I will 100% be returning and asking for her.
Great Waterviews from the 18th floor and great cocktails to go along
Had dinner to celebrate my early Birthday while I am here in Victoria,BC. Food was delicious and I was surprised with one of starter called Rendang Chicken Meatballs. Im glad got chance to celebrate my bday night at one of fancy dining restaurant in Victoria.
Deeply mediocre food at premium prices. The service staff is absolutely great; professional, accommodating, attentive and willing to try and make up for the sub par food. But all in all the food is why you go to a place and this was incredibly bad for the price. Started with bread. Just a bread basket. Half of it was rock hard stale and most just cheap tasteless baguette. A couple multigrain crackers from the grocery aisle. Tried the Ancient Grains bowl with shiitake mushroom tofu. No mention of how the grains would be swimming in garlic and onions, so sent it back. The Champagne vinaigrette was a horrible match with the dish. The few bites of the grains revealed a strange buckwheat/kasha quinoa mixture that clashed with everything on the plate. Bad. Tried the chicken Vista burger, which inexplicably came with a blueberry BBQ sauce (blech) pickled red cabbage and underripe Roma tomato. The wild greens included radicchio (bad bitter choice for a burger). Chicken patty was gristly and over salted. Mixed salad was forgettable but not offensive. Dressing on the side was also some strange berry concoction. At 29 and 21 dollars respectively, as well as 3$ for the stale bread, I was grateful for my server taking off one of the entrees and the bread and discounting the rest. Great views, great service, utterly not worth it for the food. Have a drink and enjoy the skyline. Eat elsewhere.
Views, drinks and service are good! BUT, the food wasn t tasty at all, we couldn t finish our meals Also, food is overpriced for the quality! We expected a different experience..
What a view! This is a great place to see the city from a high angle while enjoying tasty dinner and cocktails
Went there for a family dinner and had the 10oz Sterling Silver Striploin...it was WOW...so good that we will be returning to Victoria (from the Mainland) to have it again. The service was excellent and the view was amazing!!! Thanks for making our family dinner so special...it was next level!
Amelia was amazing. The food and drink with an amazing view of the Victoria City , harbour and the Mount background was amazing from the 18th Floor. Best view in town. ;).
We went there for Mothers Day brunch. My son ordered a burger and they gave him a burger bun with some kind or mystery cutlet. I guess they made a mistake so they made him a burger but it arrived after we were done eating our meals. The server has asked what kind of toast w wanted with one of our dishes and didnt bring it. Then they were surprised that we wanted toast... Basically the food was okay, they brought the wrong dish and forgot two sides for a group of three customers. The place was at least had empty and the staff seemed to be walking around casually looking for something to do it seemed. This place has a beautiful view and so much potential! Its a shame they cant live up to it. The two stars is for the view. I wouldnt really recommend it.
I keep wishing this place were better. Its in a prime location, but they just cant get their act together with service. The restaurant was half empty for Mothers Day brunch. Server was very unprofessional. She leaned up against the back of our booth to talk to us. She also passed us a plate of food from the back of the booth. One of our items was incorrect and two were forgotten. Food is mediocre at best. It was a very disappointing meal in general.
Portion sizes were good, the cut of meat I had had a fair amount of inedible membrane. The dressing also should have been a little more acidic, like a vinaigrette.
Food excellent!!! Staff friendly!!!! Great view!!!!
Usually these hotel restaurants with a view suck. This was a super suprise. We had breakfast and it was awesome. Amazing view was great. Beat breakfast I ve had in a while.
The food was shocking. Our chicken meatball appie came out surprisingly fast, barely warm, and still pink in the middle. Our wonderful server Lauren - on her first shift - was so lovely and apologetic and took it back to the kitchen. Not much else looked appealing, so we went straight to mains, which also came out at lightning speed. I ordered the ancient grain bowl: the grains were undercooked (chewy/crunchy), the squash were undercooked... Thankfully the chicken was cooked through and warm. I mentioned it to Lauren and ultimately she discounted my meal. My husband got the chicken and prawns; his veggies were also undercooked and barely warm, and his 4 prawns were soaking in a bowl of butter; the chicken was fine, but overall his dish was grossly overpriced at $37. The cocktails were nice, our view was great, but we wont recommend this place to anyone. It was such a disappointing final dinner on our honeymoon - especially compared to the gorgeous wine/cheese flight we enjoyed at lApero, and the fantastic meal/cocktails we enjoyed at The Palms. The kitchen would be better served taking their time to nicely prepare and properly cook the food; we were left with the impression that the food was pre-prepared and poorly/barely reheated instead of made to order, which is what we expected based on the price point and the restaurants branding/PR.
Best view, good food and amazing service
Visited for dinner before going to the theater and was very impressed. Our server was very attentive and professional, the food was quite tasty with lovely presentations all enhanced by a spectacular view...my one issue, it is a little pricey, yet not overly so...
One star for the view. We went for a la carte brunch, the service and food was disappointing. We didnt feel welcomed upon arrival. The lady and gentleman at the front greeting didnt seem friendly. Our food took over 30 minutes, and when our coffee was empty, we had to ask for refills. The crab cakes benny was bad, it wss burnt, not fresh and very thin, the poached eggs were dry, and the hash browns were over fried. The 10 oz steak and eggs was ok. The other dishes were also mediocre. The waitress was an older lady, either she had a cold or seasonal allergies, and was sniffling with a red nose. It made me uncomfortable as she served the food and drinks. Our table of 5 was in a very tight area, but the waitress kept asking the guests to move in their chairs a few times to go behind us to bring foods to another table, but there was no room to move as one side was the window area, and the other side was the wall divider to the raised level. She could of went to that area to bring the foods to the other tables.
Seriously bad food for brunch. I literally couldnt even eat it.
We had an early reservation as we would be going to the opera after dinner. We were seated at a nice view table, but immediately next to another table with two ladies, surrounded by empty ones. I realized that, since we were early, there was a good chance those tables would fill up soon, but I requested to be moved, as the ladies were having a loud(ish) conversation that was really distracting to me (ADD). The hostess was sympathetic and moved us, which I really appreciated. The food was really good, and I loved my seared tuna, while my partner loved the lamb, calling it the best he d ever had. The crème brûlée dessert (a favourite of mine) was also fantastic, as was my espresso martini. All in all, an amazing evening out.
Very understaffed, hope management can hire more staff or decrease amount of tables.
We love the restaurant & food. Amazing view from all the corners. Our server was Lauren she was amazing with cute smile & she was very helpful to choose our food & drink what to order. We will be coming back when we come back to Victoria. We good luck Lauren for her study.
This was the first time in my life that I haven t left a tip for a server, and it was a very difficult decision to make. Two stars because the food was incredible, as well as the view, but the server was very upsetting. She was very short, snappy and cold with us. I understand everyone has a bad day, but when we went to ask for the bill, we assumed we had to pay at the front after the bill was slammed on our table and nothing was said about change or a debit machine. We saw a machine there, so we proceeded to the front after waiting for awhile. The server snapped I LL BE RIGHT THERE and made some awful face, like we were her kids who made her mad or something along the lines of that. Hopefully future patrons don t experience this.
All the senses were alive this evening! The views are amazing. The service was impeccable. The meals were exquisite! The Blueberry BBQ was phenomenal!
The views are super amazing. We didnt eat just did happy hour. But I will return!!!
On this recent visit the renovations felt nicely done , the service and food was very good!
Incredible staff! Amelia, Victoria and Peter were so welcoming! Luca in the kitchen is an amazing cook! Well done! Definitely coming back again!
Food was incredible (sesame tuna especially), great calm athmosphere, amazing view over the city. Also: our waitress (Michelle) was great! She answered every question we had (about foods and drinks) to our satisfaction and was incredibly friendly and competent. She was also very authentic and great to talk to. 100% recommended!
The meal was falsely described on the menu . . . as a 10 0z Strip Loin . . . I received a thick cut Sirloin. When I questioned the server she explained it a California strip loin . . . then why dont they call it that? Prices are over-inflated and meals are disappointing. I would never recommend this restaurant. They must be dependant on one-time visitors staying in the hotel rooms. I remember when, back in the day, eating here was a true pleasure. Sadly, it is now a disappointment. This is no reflection on our server . . . she was an absolute delight and a true professional. She deserves to work in a more reputable environment. Thank you Michelle.
We went for our anniversary and were disappointed. My wife ordered a strip loin steak and it was definitely not a strip loin. It looked like a big cube of meat. When we questioned the waitress we were told it was a California strip loin. The menu did not mention this type of cut. I had the ravioli. The sauce was good but the ravioli were pasty tasting. We will not be returning!
Decided to see what Happy Hour at Vista 18 was all about and we weren t disappointed! Arrived around 4:30 and were greeted by our bartender, Kevin. He was very welcoming and a great host for our entire visit. Highly recommend the espresso martini and sangria. There were four of us and we left the choice of appetizers to Kevin .all 4 were tasty ample servings. The view was wonderful .spent awhile standing and identifying buildings ..a great way to see Victoria!
My partner and I visited Visa 18 for a date night dinner. We were excited to try out Victorias highest dining experience. We were lucky to go on a beautiful evening - the view was gorgeous. We loved looking out at the various buildings and areas, and talking about memories in the various places. The food was also delicious. I had the vista burger with a gluten free bun, and my partner had the silver striploin. Our server kindly asked if my partner wanted his food gluten free as well so we could share. Being celiac, I rarely encounter this, as it takes extra time and care to ensure food is allergy friendly. We shared the chocolate trio for dessert, which was almost too pretty to eat. Overall, we had a lovely experience and would definitely go back. The food, drinks, views and service were phenomenal.
Beautiful views of downtown Victoria and the water. Excellent food, service and ambience.
Great food, great views and they support local farmers so the produce is top notch.
Excellent service and delicious food - I had the 8oz sterling steak which was made to perfection. The Ahi tuna was out of this world and the 12oz lamb chops were very tasty. Definitely going back for more!
The food here is simply amazing. Wife and I loved the food and the amazing views and service. It is one of the places that you promise yourself to come back for more. All aspects from drinks to dessert all top notch. We waited in hotel lobby after a long walk to refresh with some chilled lemon water before heading up. There is a Lego model of hotel in lobby which you have to see.
A convenient downtown Victoria location, with a fantastic 270 degree wrap around view of the inner harbour. The food was excellent and the service staff were professional and very friendly. Made for a memorable dinner with friends.
Great views but Kevin, Victoria and Drew always make it a great experience ! Thank you for the great times !
Thank you for the great nights! Drew and Kevin are gems and Vancouver (Victoria) is always a delight.
Always amazing....Alex and his staff are second to none!!!!!
No question with service and environment but food was not up to the mark. Food Quality could be more better
Great food and views of the city like no other
Great happy hour
good food but overpriced
Best steak in town,so delicious
Fantastic views, service and food.
Delicious local food prepared with love, served professionally, stunning views all for the same price as a bargain victoria brunch
Awesome....L.J.
It is my daughter s birthday and our gracious and efficient server brought us an excellent brunch. We both are pleasantly full and content.
I can only comment about my food taste last year at Vista 18, and it was delicious (had the Humboldt squid). This visit was the first stop with my friends for a birthday dine/hop around, and we started with drinks. Arriving from the elevator, the hostess was immediately there in front of you at the booth, so you dont have to look lost searching for service. It was around 530pm, rainy day on a Sunday. Beautiful views never failed to impress me up here, even with the fog. It was eerily beautiful, and the lights in the restaurant gave a nice vibe to complement that. Was around for happy hour, and I had the passion fruit mojito. I love passionfruit- it was good for me, it went down easily- I could have ordered another one. Saw another tables food arrive, and the portions looked good for the price (for what they chose). It smelled good too. Server was nice and personable, we were allowed the benefit of picking our seats, which I thought was sweet (its something I encounter time and time again, but Ive taken it for granted on how nice it is to pick where you want to park yourself). So while I couldnt comment on the food for this visit, the service was good: personable staff, welcoming (even though our attire were onesies), comfortable ambience, great for special dates or a special night to impress in-laws or others. Place was clean, which I can appreciate, including the bathroom. Overall Im happy with my experience.
Disappointing leg of lamb, prepared as a steak but fatty, tough and undercooked. I left most of it on my plate, mentioned it to the server and she said very sorry. The night view from the 18th floor was nice, but no reason to come back for the food.
Great food better bar manager!! Drew is a Victoria legend to locals go see why tourists.
Delicious meals and wow what a fantastic view. Great value and wonderful staff.
We went there on recommendation from a friend for the ambiance and that part of it was great but the rest was disappointing. To start off my husband and I both ordered non-alcoholic drinks and my husband received an alcoholic beverage which was quite disappointing after avoiding alcohol for 6 years. He drank about 1/4 of it before noticing. Usually I expect drinks to be half full of ice and I should have said easy on the ice but we received $8 drinks that were full to the brim with ice. They compensated our drinks but truthfully as a previous restaurant owner I would have compensated the whole bill which totaled $120 including tip. Everyone was very apologetic and it was obviously a mistake but perhaps they need to pay more attention to the bill or get a system that highlight/bolden the part that says virgin. Our waiter was very friendly and very accommodating, the appetizer was delicious but the entrees were subpar. The side dishes actually exceeded the meat. The steak was tough and the rabbit was okay. I honestly dont think I will go back. Just the drink mistake alone was disheartening. If it were anyone else I know that has walked away from alcohol it could have had a different outcome.
Nice,classy,great food and service.great view.
Came here for HH, excellent service. Once we walked in the host immediately greeted us and sat us down at a table by the corner. I have been here many years ago and always enjoyed the vibe and views here. Still pretty happy with Vista 18. Their food was yummy and the drinks were unique. Overall great spot for HH and a pretty reasonable price!
Great value for money and without a doubt the best view on the island. The food was great and really well priced
Me and my buddy went last night ( undercover chefs) had 3 course meal. Very satisfying. The Aesthetics, presentation, service from Emma . Highly recommended restaurant!
Awesome service and food. View is outstanding.
Amazing view, nice breakfast, and reasonable prices. Thanks!
