Fantastic gem. The dumpling soup is incredible, I m a big aficionado of won ton soups. Sandwich was delicious, fresh. Service was efficient, friendly, and hospitable! So refreshing this day and age. I will be back! Can t believe it took me this long to discover this local gem.

Classic sandwich bar. Hidden gem in Langford. I always order the Halifax style Donair (sweet sauce). They do their own little spin on it and it works out great!

I had a hot dip beef and cream soup. The food was seasoned appropriately, the size was big enough, and fresh and clean!

Nice bread and veggies but they really skimped on the sauce and it would have been better toasted or hot off a panini press. And Im not a fan of the self-serve tea and coffee station, just make it behind the counter please.

The employees were super nice. The cost for a simple turkey wrap was way over priced. Paying $18.59 for a wrap and can of coke is a bit much and there is nothing fancy about the wrap. The company used to be much better and even offered bean sprouts but everything now is super basis. Red Barn is a way better deal and much better wraps.

One of my favourite restaurants over the past 15 years. Today was my last, never again at almost $30 for soup sandwich and drink.

I came on a Friday afternoon. There was 10 people deep in line. The 3 people behind the counter were soo efficient. Nobody waited very long. But let me tell you any kind of wait is worth it for this place. The sandwiches sooo fresh and tasty. The soups super yummy. I had an amazing experience and highly recommend this restaurant.

Nice rotating selection of soups. Had the clam chowder and French onion and the grilled Reuben sandwich. It was really really good. Lunch counter type service. Nice clean dining area and very fast service. Various types of sandwiches available. A glass of water would have been nice to have available butotherwise it was perfect for a light lunch. Couldnt finish the sandwich and it still awesome having it a few hours later. Will definitely go back and try other soups and sandwiches.

The soups are heart warming and the sandwiches are moral boosters to the soul. The staff are always friendly and full of kindness so the rest of your day can be filled with sunshine. Seriously the best place to get soups and sangy s on the island.

Asked for Chipotle sauce on a grilled cheese it wasnt included in the price (yet i paid $20.30 for the combo)....if you like a dry..crusty sandwich with two pieces of mediocre cheese. Come to this place. I asked the eastern European food handler about this issue...and they told me..everyone knows that sauces arent included in the price. I told the food handler to perhaps change their sign. So this way *everyone* will know what they expect to have out of this place. It used to be amazing...save your money folks..go elsewhere.

These magnificent artisans create the greatest culinary phenomenon you could hope to encounter. From the most epic, soft, HUGE sourdough to the perfectly seasoned, fresh, flavorful ingredients - including the amazing jeddar cheese - youll never encounter a better sandwich. Red barn is like Dads dimwitted but lovable cousin in comparison. Ordering a turkey club and a tuna salad sandwich from this place is often the highlight of my week - and thank god they are on Skip.

I really loved the pastrami panini and mushroom soup. The panini was loaded with yummy beef and cheese, very flavourful. The panini bread was fresh with tasty caraway seeds I think so good! The soup, of course was homemade, creamy and mushroomy. Next time I need lunch in Langford. I m hitting this place!

Went for the first time since new owners, we had the roast beef sandwich like usual, not sure if its a different recipe or maybe just what I got but the flavours were just not there. Im going to undoubtedly give it another chance a few months down the line but thats because its hard to walk away from the Langford staple

Dads is a classic lunch place. Their soups are iconic and hard to find elsewhere. I personally am a big turkey dinner soup guy which only comes around once in awhile. I would definitely recommend looking up what soups they have since it helps plan lunches out. I do find their sandwich s are fairly mediocre but still enjoyable and pair well with their soups

Great egg salad sandwich. Also great spanakopita, which my husband gave me a taste of. He also had tomato vegetable soup which he enjoyed. Didnt have room for dessert, but considered the baklava. Which is supposed to be very good.

Delicious giant sandwich The roast beef was delicious, and the bread and all the veggie toppings were fresh. I had to take half of it home. Ill definitely go here again.

I wish I had come here sooner! Ive lived here for a year, and always contemplated going, but never did. Boy, did I miss out!! This place is AMAZING!!! They bake all their own breads, there are 5 to choose from! The roast their own turkey and beef right there as well! Toppings are fresh, and plentiful, and every sandwich is made beautifully!! Every day they have three soups to choose from, and I believe the lady told me on Fridays, they have seven different homemade soups!! If you order soup, I dont recommend getting a sandwich as well, as you get a huge chunk of buttered bread with it!! The staff are super friendly as well!! Everything is clean. It can get quite the line up at the lunch hour, but all good things come with patience!!

We had been meaning to try this place since moving to the neighbourhood, and finally got the opportunity to do so. We were met with amazing customer service. The staff were personable and genuine. The prices were incredibly reasonable. The food was delicious and the soups were not overly salted, as I often find restaurant soups to be. I am still dreaming of the cream of tomato soup. We will most definitely be back!

Feeling sad about today s experience at dads sandwhich. I love dads and it was one of the first take out meals I asked for after having my baby this year, but I will never be back. After seeing a post on their Facebook page from December about it costing $0 to be kind, I m even more perplexed at what happened... let me preface this by saying I m sure that people park in the 15 minute zone outside the store all the time and know full well it s not for public use, so I get the frustration. However, as someone having a million things on my mind for the rare time I get to do errands without my baby, I did not see that the space was for customers only. Sabhai thais lot was fully packed and I was running in for a take out order. I had maybe made it ten feet from my car when I hear someone yelling at me? Rather than her giving me the benefit of the doubt that I didn t notice I was in private parking I was told to move extremely rudely. I could hardly get a word in before she started closing the door. When I said excuse me can I speak to you? I would come to your business in the future but because of the way you came out and attacked me I wont want to. I genuinely didn t see the sign. she replied I DON T CARE. MOVE and closed the door. To which I shouted you are so rude! (sorry)... I was stunned. I didn t swear. I didnt argue or refuse to move. (I get why I shouldnt park in customer parking!) I wanted to have an adult conversation and even apologize for my mistake but it felt like being hung up on. In a world where we are so quick to be mean to strangers (retail or otherwise,) I was hoping this exchange could ve been handled differently especially on Valentine s Day. That I could ve been given the benefit of the doubt and maybe it could ve gone something like excuse me, I m not sure if you noticed but you are parked in our parking spot... there are public spots a few feet down for you to use But the treatment of being so insignificant that my patronage didn t matter to this woman (not sure if owner? Older with short brown hair) was shocking. I have family that own small businesses and I know that customers word of mouth is almost everything, you need to be careful with the way you treat The public, when there s so much competition out there. I know you are a beloved shop clearly, but if you keep this up and people tell their friends who tell their friends (Langford is growing, but still smallish) you will run your business to the ground. I m not sure what I m looking for. An apology? Awareness so that woman doesn t treat another person so rudely? Just sucks.

To be honest, I ve never visited but had been recommended to try for some time by friends on the island. After reading the reviews, & most notably the responses from the business, I can say I won t be visiting after all; Nor will I recommend it to anyone else. A business should conduct itself with class no matter the situation, especially in an age where social media & word of mouth have such an immediate impact. I m especially disappointed knowing this is a local shop- meaning families depend on this business and not a corporation. I hope they can find new ways of handling these issues & rectify the behaviour before the damage cannot be undone.

Don t let the sudden influx of 1 star reviews fool you, this place is amazing. It s really sad when people post fake reviews when they haven t even stepped foot in an establishment and are basing their opinions off of a Facebook post. The food at Dad s is INCREDIBLE. Best soup I ve ever had. The mac & cheese is delicious, stew is to die for and their beef stroganoff is superb!! I ate there at least 2 times a week throughout my entire pregnancy. The staff are friendly, welcoming and make you feel like family. I am ALWAYS greeted by name and the lovely ladies who work behind the counter are always more than happy to interact with my daughter.

Unfortunately my experience was below standard. The soup was average and the sandwich was mediocre.

Not impressed by the way the owners conduct themselves in response to reviews. Sure we ve all had bad days but no need to respond like that to someone publicly!

Nice cozy shop with excellent fresh food. I randomly checked previous reviews and I was shocked to find out that most of the negative ones are due to personal reasons which is not fair since the shop now operates under new ownership. My opinion is not to rely solely on reviews but stop by and try it yourself.

Family owned and operated, everything is made fresh in house especially the baked bread!. They always have at least 3 soups of the day made fresh for you to choose from, all kinds of different sandwiches made infront of you and of course freshly made bread of your choice. You can also order a variety of Greek food as the owners are Greek and are passionate about the food they put out in their restaurant. I highly recommend a visit to taste all the delicious food available. Also check out the restaurants Facebook page as they list the soups of the day.

Stopped by for takeout today. Had a very delicious Reuben sandwich made by the lady who has worked there for 16 years. Was such a nice change from the local fast food places. Highly recommend!!!!

Sandwiches are tasty and fresh but that Thai Chicken Curry soup was worst Ive ever had. Not sure if that was homemade or not but sorry won be back b/c of that one. And the Baklava was wayyyy too syrupy for my liking. Im married to a Greek and I know Greek Bak is usually pretty sweet but its nice when the flaky layers are still flaky and not all soaked in syrup. Believe it our not, Pressd has a more flavourful Thai Curry Soup

Just visiting the Island from a freezing cold Edmonton, AB and today is my last day here before heading east again. I googled best soup and sandwiches near me and this is what came up so I thought Id give it a try. I expected a small mom and pop type place and thats what I got. Great homemade bread, great homemade soups, great sandwich, great staff. What threw me for a loop was the Military memorabilia when I walked inside. As a Veteran, its awesome to see support for the troops, but in the case of this place, I knew people who sailed on a number of the ships and submarines represented here and that choked me up. The only thing I couldnt find was the plaque representing my ship though, unless it was hiding; HMCS Provider. You have a great place here, I would definitely recommend it to anyone, and should I be back on the Island in the future, Ill come again. Thank you

This is a great place to grab a takeaway bowl of one of their delicious soups and sandwiches! Never been disappointed! One thing though...getting quite pricy..$6 + FOR A CUP OF SOUP..AND $8 PLUS FOR A BOWL. If you include a sandwich ..you are looking at an expensive lunch.

Friendly staff and environment, with quality made locally sourced ingredients to make some of the best sandwiches you can find in Victoria. Place is busy with a line (usually) out the door around noon and continues on for least an hour. Is open late and offers take away salads and goodies in their fridge, reasonably priced as well. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an awesome / filling lunch!

All options seem to be mostly non-vegetarian, but the sandwiches are healthy, homemade, full of stuff, and lovely :) the soups are also pretty hardy- be warned a soup and salad combination is actually a ton of food here! Super helpful staff, great selections, and overall a nice chill atmosphere.

Someone nearly ran me off the road in the company car so I called to complain and left a message with another staff member. John called me back, cursed me out, and asked me to come down to his location and fight him. Absolutely incredible level of unprofessional conduct.

Best soup place in town, great staff and food.

Always a great place to come and enjoy a meal, big or small. The food is tasty with generous portions. Lots of sandwiches to choose from and fresh soups change every day. The bread is fresh baked too with several different options. Lunch is their specialty. The staff are friendly and genuine. This is a local gem and the staff know most of their clients by name. The proprietor is always happy to see you. As the group they are always smiling and having fun behind the counter.
