I usually love this place and have been many times but went on Dec 15 and got food poisoning from an oyster.

Horrible food poisoning from the oysters, do not recommend. Bouillabaisse didn t taste fresh either,

Both my coworker and I got severe food poisoning after dining here, likely from the oysters. We were sick for a few days with constant vomiting and diarrhea for the first 24hours. This was an awful experience and I hope the restaurant improves its food safety practices.

Kate was amazing! We had a very large party of lobster lovers and she was so accommodating. The rest of the staff were very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed for our whole stay! Parking: Yates parkade is super close

Little good place and food, recommended

Used to love this place but the service has gotten astonishingly bad. Was in the other day and was seated right away (it was empty.) Our table waited far too long to get served while the server with freckles was just chatting at the bar. There were at least 3 things that got messed up with our ticket and we all ended up eating some variation things we didn t order. One meal didn t even get delivered till we asked about it. Didn t get our drinks till after food was served (bartender was great though!) Had to ask for cutlery. While we told the busser not to worry about the food mistakes, no need to waste food, the server didn t even acknowledge the errors, apologize, or make any adjustments to our bill. While the food was still good, the service really ruined our night. Shame that this place was lost its charm.

We were reservations for a birthday and they left a little birthday card on the table, which was a nice touch. The food was great, and the service was decent. No real complaints. It was a bit dim the evening we were there, but nothing bad by any means at all. Worth a stop. Vegetarian options: Meatless options, but more options for fish eaters

Came here in May, and my god what a place! My partner and i came here for happy hour 3 times throughout our stay as it was SO good. Coming back in 2025 and will be stopping in as much as possible!

Not as fancy as upstairs dining rooms but there was a warm welcome and efficient service. The food was tasty.

We went with our monthly lunch group of 16 ladies and everything went very well. We were greeted warmly and our server was friendly, organized, and on top of everything. And the food was generous and most importantly..very good!!!

The food was really good. I m a vegetarian and felt it has good options for me while my husband had meat and seafood options. He ended up getting the salmon burger and thought it was excellent. I got the falafel wrap, also really good. French fries were excellent. Service was a bit slow as our server left mid meal so I m guessing they were short a staff. We also got the brownie for dessert and was disappointed - was dry and a little burnt.

Kate and Anne were so welcoming for lunch. Food recommendations were spot on- fried oysters, tandoori chicken wrap and salmon burger, great side salad and vinaigrette dressing. I have been going to Ferris for so many years. So many good things to choose from. The house salad is a classic, the best in town!! And please keep the deep fried mushrooms that are on the happy hour menu. Ferris is a love affair I never want to end!

Service was spectacular. Food and drinks were amazing! We shared a variety of appies, and they were all top notch!

This was the quintessential place in Victoria for me to eat. I hadnt been here in a couple years and I was pretty disappointed that they have trimmed their menu down quite a bit, particularly for the oysters where there used to be over 10 options for baked oysters but now only 3. And the oysters are now quite small.

Oysters were good but the salmon burger I had was dry and the gluten friendly menu wasn t clear on what was gluten free because the kitchen had a different answer than what the menu said.

A really good restaurant in Victoria. We liked it so much we made a point of coming back here during our short stay in Victoria. The oysters are extremely fresh and well priced. We also loved the whipped ricotta (as a replacement for dessert) and the pecan pate. The house-made horseradish is phenomenal. Highly recommend.

Ferris is a iconic local restaurant in Victoria I have been enjoying for many years. Last night I had another delicious dinner that was nicely presented as usual. The same consistent high quality you can expect when you return for another visit. Seating on the back patio is nice this time of year. An extra big thank you for the friendly, authentic, and caring service by Matilda! Another reason to visit Ferris is their wonderful staff... Vegetarian options: Ferris iconic veggie burger is the same delicious in-house recipe and quality as it has been for years. They have a selection of great vegetarian options across all their menu areas.

Cannot stress how much 2 doz happy hour oysters and a dirty martini from this place did for my mental health. Cheaper than therapy and just as effective

Beer battered fish was good. Pacific Rim Bowl was not too good. White wine my husband ordered was poor. Benches to sit on while dining were so uncomfortable it was difficult to want to stay very long. Good service though, and to her credit the server took all of our comments on board without just walking away.

Waste of money! The fries were in small chunks and burnt. The main course, chermoula marinated salmon, was a very tiny portion for $30. The taste was good but in comparison to the price it was very small. Food : 2/5

The decor is immaculate and the servers are absolutely beautiful in more ways than one. Outside of the cheap and delicious oysters the food is pretty under seasoned, so dont be afraid to ask for a salt-shaker.

Food was good. I don t love seafood but the menu was approachable and I ended up loving my food. I had a small complaint about my dish (not the restaurant s fault) and my server Kate went above and beyond to make sure I left feeling taken care of. My kind of place. Narrow. Atmospheric. Good pub food. Had a salmon burger and it was good. Would come again. Parking: Plenty of street parking during a weekday. Kid-friendliness: Burgers and fish and chips for the kids.

The host had a bit of an attitude, although our server was nice. The burger was overcooked and looked like it was off the childrens menu and had brown-specked lettuce served on top. My friends laksa soup certainly didnt include $30 worth of seafood. They did give us the staff discount to make up for my burger, but I wouldnt return.

There were multiple times the staff just let me cook while I was dining solo. I enjoy a decent happy hour and they have a great selection of under $10 bites that you can share with yourself! Heidi was great and made sure I had everything I need without the judgment on why Im eating oysters alone

Love this place, as a local it is me and my wifes favorite spot in Victoria. The happy hour menu is truly unmatched. We go about twice a week. Kate is a delight and always looks after us. Whole experience from the service, ambiance, and food is top tier. When people visit from out of town it is the spot we take them to showcase Victoria.

We hosted our rehearsal wedding at Ferris Upstairs and they absolutely rocked it. Family wouldnt shut up about how delicious the food was. Staff went above and beyond.

Best Happy Hour for bites in Victoria. The oysters are always fresh and delicious. The mini fish and chips is just the right amount for a snack.

We made a reservation ahead of time for two through Google. When we arrived, our table was tucked away in a small corner. We requested a table in their lovely courtyard in the back and the staff was accommodating to our request. We did have to wait thirty minutes but It was worth It!!! The courtyard is a dream and was just the aesthetic we wanted. We ordered the Blackberry Spritz and the Dull and Windy cocktails while we waited for our dozen oysters and mushroom poutine. The Fanny May oysters arrived on a plate of melting ice and the mushroom poutine needed a bit of salt but others wise delicious. The oysters are mild in flavor but meaty and there was an array of accoutrements provided. The fries for the poutine were perfectly thick and crispy. We then moved on to dinner with the Pacific Rim Bowl with poke tuna and the Bouillabaisse. Both were absolutely delicious- rich in flavor and the perfect portion. The staff was very friendly, gave wonderful recommendations and attentive. Definitely check this place out during your trip to Victoria BC.

Overall good. Service could be better and friendlier. And like so many places in town, they have opted to make 18% the minimum tip on the pay terminal, which is gross and reprehensible.

Ill be honest, Ive never had anything other than oysters and Caesars at Ferris. So its fair to conclude that my review may not be the most well-rounded or best-informed. That said, I come here for precisely those offerings every time that Im in Victoria--sometimes several days in a row. I dig this joint and I think that you will too. For sure if you have oysters and Caesars.

Really enjoyed going..... I wasnt sure what to expect..... The service was excellent, the beer was served in a really cold glass, and the food was piping hot and delicious.

Tara was our server and she was amazing. She noticed that something was missing from my salad...there was a new chef on at that time...and she promptly went to the kitchen and brought what was usually in the salad. The meal was delicious and she was friendly and didnt rush but chatted with me as I waited for my guests to arrive. I know that this is not always possible. I will definitely go back!

First time eating at the downstairs location. Had very good experience upstairs in the past. My partner and I ordered the ricotta and baguette appetizer as well as the cauliflower appetizer. Both were underwhelming but we ate them. For our mains we ordered the Spicy Chicken Burgers side yam fries. Spicy Chicken Burger was over cooked and dressed in too much sauces. The yam fries were black on the outside (possible result of old deep fry oil) and raw on the inside they were very limp, under cooked and tasted off. We did not eat the fries after testing them. The waitress did not check on us for 15 minutes so we were done at that point leaving most our burger and full order of fries. We reported to our waitress when she came by and she said sorry but did nothing about it we still paid for the food we did not finish. Very disappointing for a meal billed over a $100.

We visit every Friday evening, and somehow are lucky enough to have Kate to serve us. While the food is always top notch, (Thank you Tavis), Kate makes us feel so welcome and is truly the best part of a great experience.

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I came for a late lunch with a friend during happy hour, and we ordered a two happy hour items and two mains. The waitress asked if we wanted to have the happy hour items come out as appetizers, and the mains come out as entrees, and I agreed. After around 15 minutes, our two happy hours items came out -- mini fish and chips, and 6 oysters. The oysters were fine, but the fish and chips were absolutely tiny. It was 1 piece of fish, and a couple of fries. After quickly finishing our happy hour items, we waited over 30 minutes for our server come to our table and clear our plates, and the server showed zero concern for us waiting that long. She instead pinned the blame on me, and stated you wanted the mains to come out like a second course. After asking twice about an update on our mains with nothing done to help with the situation, i ended up waiting a total of 42 minutes AFTER receiving the first few plates before asking for the check. Once I asked for the check for the two happy hour items ONLY (since that was all we ate), our waitress came over and informed us that our mains were ready if I wanted them to go, and I refused. I ended up spending OVER AN HOUR in this restaurant, and only ate 3 oysters and half of a piece of fish with some fries. Once I was starting paying for the half of a meal I had, the server began chatting with us and acting incredibly friendly. It was so off-putting, especially after having such a negative experience with her dismissing all of our concerns earlier. I would not recommend coming here. The atmosphere is fine, the service terrible, and the food is okay at best, if you even get a chance to eat all of your food. There are definitely better restaurants in the area where you can have a much better experience.

She did a fantastic job! Finding quality customer service these days is hard to come by. Heidi did a fantastic job!! Food was delicious, drinks were great and overall a wonderful lunch date with my sister and mom. Atmosphere is inviting and comfy and we will definitely will be coming back. This is my favorite restaurant in Victoria. We visit the area once or twice a year and whenever we do, a dinner at Ferris is in the cards. Honestly, its excellent food, with great atmosphere and really nice wait staff. No one in my family has ever had anything other than a wonderful meal in 8 years of coming here. Just a great place that we look forward to every visit.

Kate was amazing!!

Had lunch with some colleagues and was served by Kate, we were early before open but she happily let us hangout on the patio until noon. Her service was so friendly and hospitable which added to the delicious food! Could not recommend more & if you get Kate as your server consider yourself lucky!

We had the pleasure of our waitress Heidi today for lunch, she was very prompt, very professional and extremely nice. She did a fantastic job! Heidi did a fantastic job!! Food was delicious, drinks were great. Great Job Heidi! Keep up the great work!

Kate was our server and made the experience absolutely magical,, We have loved Ferris for years and it is always the best! Yummy yymmy oysters - and adorable staff who go the extra mile , all we can say is Thank You! Thank You!

The service was awesome! Kate was killer and super friendly. The heat lamp was on when it was 16 degrees so it was a little warm in the garden patio, but otherwise superb.

Our server Kate was incredible. Really kind. Great energy. food was fine. Yam fries were bland, oyster burger was also bland. Oysters were good though.

Late the server was superb. So friendly, happy, funny. Honestly cannot say enough good things about her. The food was overall pretty good, oysters were great, the mushroom gravy seemed more like mushroom soup though. Very happy.

Heidi was great!

My first time here and I have to say the food and atomsphere was exactly what I was looking for. I really enjoyed my meal. only comment I have was my server Kate I believe was her name went on about winning a contest and wouldnt let me enjoy my meal if I didnt write a review. Just a little note for next time just say it at the end of the meal so we can have a genuine idea of how you are as a server instead of just telling your tables to write anything with you name in it, I understand you really want to win but it made my time there not enjoyable.

First time in Victoria island, it was st Patricks day, very busy place but we had an amazing customer service experience from kate! Highly recommend for sea food. Parking: There is a paid parking across the street.
