We first visited Baan Thai in the spring and ordered a side of rice and crispy tofu. If I had written a review then, it would’ve been 5 stars - my partner and I talked about that crispy tofu for months! That’s why we decided to return recently and order the same thing, but unfortunately, this time we were quite disappointed. For the price we paid, the takeout container of crispy tofu was only half full. It felt like we got short-changed, and honestly, I think I should’ve paid half the price for what we received. It’s a shame because the food is good, but the portion size just doesn't justify the cost. The best part of the experience? The paper bag the takeout came in! I've since reused it for recycling.
Well I always wanted to try this location. I had been to their Blanchard street location years ago and it was good but that was 15 years ago. So I was lured by the promise of happy hour specials and a live columbian singer. The singer was wonderful and added to the atmosphere but the food was something else. The $6 sleeve of beer was cold at least.. lots of Phillips beer products which is top of the class. The skewers of pork was good and worth it but the tempeh was skimpy. Tiny little pieces for $4 each with their own dipping sauce. The pad Thai was $9 with little bits of tofu, a minuscule portion, overcooked and unappealing looking presentation. One could order protein ontop if it. I ordered seafood $10 and it had prawn, scallop and I don’t know if anything else but they were cold ontop of the mushy pad Thai. The entire dish was flat looking and just in appealing. I added chicken $7 on the other one and that one was better. The amount of food and questionable quality of the pad Thai was for me a rip off cost wise. Also ordered the lettuce wrap and it came in a nice small cast iron pan. The meat was lukewarm but tasty. So crazy since it’s in a cast iron pan it should be sizzling. The lettuce cups were baby romaine served with a ground pork mixture. Lettuce was and very fresh and I liked this dish despite it being cold. They lure you in but don’t deliver with a quality product. I would have ordered more but I was not impressed by the pad Thai which should be a signature dish for a Thai restaurant and one as established as Baan Thai. I told waitress they were terrible when she asked. I somehow was point blank honest so she took the dishes back to the kitchen for the chef. To be fair they did offer to make something else for us but my appetite was already ruined by now so I declined. She later told me I would get a discount but instead they gave me a $10 coupon for next time on a $76 bill. Which after paying the bill I forgot to retrieve because it took so long to get the bill Maybe it was late night but the quality has to be good and consistent and happy hours are a good way to introduce diners to their restaurant so they really should be prepared nicely. If one has a bad experience even if it is happy hour they will not return.
Food was not what i was expecting, too salty. I understand that Thai cuisine is supposed to be bold flavour but it shouldn’t taste saltier than sea water. Got full from drinking my glass of water. Ingredients were very fresh otherwise. Also i felt the prices were a little too expensive (especially 4-5$for a small bowl of rice). Server had BO which made the experience not enjoyable. At least they had mango sticky rice which we got for takeout, jury is still out on that one. Unfortunately i will not be going back.
The food is decent, but I've noticed inconsistency in their flavors. Sometimes the pad Thai is excellent, while other times it tastes completely different. However, their fried pork and other wok dishes are consistently great. It's definitely one of my go-to spots.
My wife and I walked here for lunch with 2 other friends. We were at a highschool nearby for our daughter's volleyball tournament and had a 2hr break between games. We found this place on Google map. We like Thai food so decided to give it a try since the pho place next door was closed. Food and service was decent. Price may be a bit on the high side for what you are getting. Feels like we were eating a a food court case they were play music that you would listen to on the radio. Food came out within 10min after we ordered since we were the only ones in the restaurant. I like spicy food so the red curry with chicken was tasty. If you are hungry and don't mind spicy food, give this place a try.
Enjoyed the foods and services. Our server was Supattra, such a lovely person, best customer service ever. She also referred some dishes for next time. Loved it, we will be back soon. Highly recommended.
DO NOT EAT HERE. Immediately when I sat down I noticed the table had not been cleaned. The table had been fully set (wine glasses and everything) on a dirty surface. I pointed it out to my friend and she agreed it was gross. We were seated towards the front of the restaurant so the afternoon light was shining in which made it look even worse! The table was streaky with dried rice and remnants of other food stuck on the surface (we should have left then)…..I told a server and she wiped part of the table but it was dried on there so she didn’t get it all, and the other side of the table she didn’t wipe remained dirty….. My friend ordered the red curry. She asked what spice level it came with and the sever said medium but if it was too spicy she could bring us extra coconut milk. I ordered Pad Thai and asked for extra bean sprouts. The server said I wouldn’t need extra bean sprouts as it already came with lots of bean sprouts. Our food came and the red curry was too spicy for my friend, so I asked for extra coconut milk which the server brought. After mixing the pad Thai (with the bean sprouts on top) I still wanted more so I asked the server and she said there might be an extra charge. I asked how much and she said she was not sure, she said there will definitely be an extra charge for the coconut milk because “it’s expensive” but the bean sprouts might be free. She came back and confirmed it is $2 for extra coconut milk and $2 for extra for bean sprouts. I pointed out she did not tell us there would be an extra charge for the coconut milk. After deliberating she said again that “it is expensive” but she won’t charge us for it this time. I said okay and asked again for extra bean sprouts and consented to the extra charge. At the end of the meal I asked for the bills. She really messed up the bills, but the most significant mistake was splitting the dishes instead of billing us for the dishes each of us individually ordered and customized. The $5 cost difference between our two orders was overall insignificant and I didn’t want to point it out, and wait for it to be fixed so we paid and left. Overall my experience was terrible, my friend agreed the table was dirty (and not re-cleaned properly), the server did not communicate extra charges to us while trying to argue coconut milk is very expensive (it’s really not and neither are bean sprouts), she didn’t confirm how we wanted to be billed (and made wrong assumptions), and the food was mediocre (small portion of red curry and overly sweet pad Thai). I will not be back and I will not recommend Baan Thai to anyone. If you read this, be warned and go somewhere else!
Delicious food and speedy service. The place has a fairly cozy atmosphere and fair portion sizes, hands down the papaya salad was the best thing we had. It's been ages since we've had a good papaya salad with a proper spice to it. Martini was a touch bit on the strong side and don't bother with the coffee if you're looking for a caffeine slap. Overall will definitely be returning next time I'm in town!
Food was excellent and the service great!
Great place, food and service! Was lined out door for lunch!
Everything is great, foods is a little salty today.
Amazing ambience, service and food every time we go. So nice for it to be so close by as well. Spent a recent birthday there and the chef let me in on some secrets of how to do a proper Phad See Ew, which was so appreciated, as they have the best version in town by far! Thanks again and we will be back again soon!
Overpriced
Today I went here again and had a FABULOUS time. Our waittress was a woman with red hair and she was SO KIND AND FRIENDLY!! She was a fantastic server, she was great to talk to and very helpful in picking what to order. The other people were great too!! Vegetarian options: I did eat meat but there were some veggies too
My son loved the sticky rice and mango. They had a great kids menu as well. He particularly enjoyed the kids coconut pineapple drink and the fresh, vibrant flowers on the table.
Good lunch and service!
Amazing food, amazing staff.
Stellar team and amazing food! Keep it up Oak Bay Crew!!! Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating Food : 5/5 |
Ive had nothing but great experiences here. We went out last night for an evening of live music and late night happy hour. It was lovely. We had the best service weve had in Victoria in a long time and for the first time ever, did not feel any way about tipping 20%. In retrospect, I wish I had tipped her more. What a great evening!
Delicious food and the staff was really helpful and fast.
Good food
We have Padthai , Padsew/ Somtum , plamug Tod. Thanks chefs and Jocelyn nice service.
The food tasted good going down but gave me food poisoning. I thought it was the spice level at first, so I gave my friend the leftovers later that night, but warned them about the spicy one. They didnt eat the spicy one, they ate the seafood stir fry, and informed me the next day that they got food poisoning so I know it wasnt just me. The staff were young and inexperienced so I didnt bother complaining. But food poisoning from seafood is scary (botulism can be deadly) and the fact that they are not careful with the seafood has kept me from going back.
Did a large take out order for the office. Half our food was missing and the phad thai container was only half full. Disappointing.
The food here is outstanding. I ve been here four times now and it s always (chef s kiss) delicious. Seriously the best Thai food I ve had anywhere. Absolutely love the red curry, the pra ram long song, chicken satay, and pad seeuw. I highly recommend.
Hey, I was there to pick up an Uber Eats order. The pickup time was 5:14 pm, but I had to wait over 45 minutes. If you cant get the food ready on time, you should increase the preparation time on the food delivery apps. Dont waste peoples time
Excellent food. Very sensitive to exactly how spicy each diner likes their dish. Reasonably priced, especially the lunch special which is massive. Very good, friendly service. Tables are a bit scrunched together. They could use more space, but with rents being what they are who can blame them?
Do not recommend. Offensive service no one knows what they re doing how to serve or any knowledge of the cuisine. Management are even worse they are never there to deal with any of the problems or actually train their staff.. Please address this as the food is usually good but not worth the hassle. For the prices you charge this is not acceptable.
I will not be coming back here anymore.. plenty of other decent Thai restaurants in Victoria and this place is not one. This restaurant use to be great for food, atmosphere and the staff. However after my recent visits they either get my order wrong or I wait over an hour longer than quoted. The staff don t seem to care nor management. Dine in not recommended either, you will be waiting ages for a table (even when it looks empty) and when you finally get one it s dirty.. This place urgently needs some organization.
Ordered take out for 645 on monday night with more then an hours notice. Showed up at 640 and didnt get my food until 705. Might as well of gotten a table at that point. Otherwise food is always good.
I ordered C3 based on the reviews, W4 and N4 based on the waiters recommendation, and ordered A3 myself. The red curry chicken was great, and W4 beef stir-fried with vegetables had a good Chinese flavor. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.
The food was good but my unfamiliarity with the dishes made my choice difficult. Will try it again as what my companion had was very nice.
They dont offer our favourite dish, Masaman Gai, anymore... Its now served with lamb, but its WAAAAY too expensive.
Went here for my birthday. Definitely enjoyed it.
Terrible service. Currently writing this sitting at the bar waiting 40 minutes past when I was told the food would be ready for pick up. I get it, if the kitchens busy sure, but give me a realistic wait time here. Incompetent service, everyones running to the back, noone up front. Yeah just avoid the headache.
Server was attentive & accommodating to celiac needs. Dietary restrictions: Celiac options Food : 5/5 |
Excellent service, nice experience. The food was very good, except my husbands noodles were slightly undercooked. We let the server know and he apologized profusely and offered to have another plate made up, but we didnt feel that was necessary.
The food and atmosphere is good but if youre ordering for dinner take out or delivery, dont bother. The policy here is that dine-in customers get priority on their orders. Not a strictly bad policy but it leaves take away customers and delivery drivers waiting excessive amounts of time, as in 45 minutes to an hour. Ive seen a crowd of delivery drivers and regular take-away customers waiting that long for their orders before dine-in customers would come in, get seated, and served their food in the time span that we were still waiting. Tonight a take-away customer who was there with me for an hour brought this up to one of the people working there and was told this was the policy and that he just had to be patient as he wasnt there for dine-in. This was also the first I heard of this anywhere and so I wanted to share it. Great for dine-in though if thats what youre wanting.
Great Thai in Victoria. Used to go a lot as a kid, now go every time I back home!
I came to this restaurant as a recommendation from a friend when I was visiting. love my food and this food was incredible, definitely going to be returning when Im in vancouver again, so much selection on the menu! Staff were very welcoming and lovely to talk yo you also!
Great service, great food and really friendly management. Lovely variety of choice of food and drinks and the atmosphere is 10/10.
Greatest people in the world!
I was reminded tonight why we stopped eating here. Ordering online for pick up the website said 40 minute wait. Perfect. When I placed the order the text I got said it would be ready in 20 minutes. Big difference. Need to hustle to get there for when it s ready. Long story short the order was ready 55 minutes after ordering. I know it s not an exact science, 5 or 10 minutes is totally acceptable but 35 minutes? You ve got to do better. Got home, 2 minute drive, and had to reheat the food. Disappointing
Had chicken satay: 1. Great taste 2. Interior atmosphere is good 3. Awesome staffs 4. Recommendation: highly recommended.
Daily specials are $17 and includes 1 spring roll, a meatless entree of rice or noodle, and veggie broth soup; proteins are ala carte extra, Portion sizes are cut back. Nothing outstanding.
Best Thai food in town.
The vegetable spring rolls basically only have vermicelli and are not recommended. The rice noodles are pretty good, I must order them every time I come here. But Victorias BaanThai chicken noodles has white radish in it, and the soup is better. In addition to not having radishes, this restaurant also doesn t have that many types of appetizers. The service was okay. Actually, there is no need to keep asking how the food was. The spring rolls were really terrible. They were filled with vermicelli and cost 15 dollars for 4 pieces. I really hope that after I finish drinking the water, I can come and help refill it when I have time.
The pad Thai is always good. Medium is better than mild.
Everything was excellent! We ordered a red curry, coconut rice and a vegetable bean sauce dish. So good! We ordered spice level mild and was grateful because the mild here was more of a medium.
What a rare treat to find during my trip to Canada. I haven t tasted Thai food this good since I was on holiday in Bangkok. The Chicken Red curry was just amazing and with the right amount of spice, the staff were absolutely brilliant and accommodating. You guys really put a smile on my face, couldn t ask for better food or better service
Excellent food for take-out! Vegetarian options: Lots of options! Food : 5/5 |
I ate once over here but I also delivery food to people so imagine a person is tired and that person waits for a looong time because the restaurant cant make one dish quickl enough. And if u say staining is short well I see 3 ladies on the counter but I didnt get the food on time I dont review a lot but pls be aware if you are coming here wait is excruciating
Recommend caution with any web-takeaway orders you prepay for. Make certain you have received everything you paid for before leaving if you don t want to be treated like a deadbeat con-artist when you call in to get a credit for the food you didn t get and we re still waiting on that. Or, you could just go somewhere else.
Great food and service!! Come here all the time
Wow. This is an amazing place to go! I have been to this Baan Thai location a multitude of times. It is an understatement to say that I highly recommend this place. For anyone who enjoys quality Thai food and great service, this is the place to be.
Every dish is excellent, can t go wrong. Great service and atmosphere as well. Would highly recommend!
Ban Thai Oakbay in Victoria is fantastic! The food is absolutely delicious and bursting with authentic Thai flavors. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the service is always friendly and attentive. If youre craving some incredible Thai cuisine, Ban Thai Oakbay is definitely the place to go. Highly recommend!
I m never disappointed with the food or service here. Even when busy, the staff do what they can to be speedy. Takeout is always great, but I d recommend sitting down for their happy hour See you again soon!
Great spot. Professional and upstanding lad by the name Markus was my server.

Friendly staff , delicious food , cozy atmosphere - consistently excellent!! Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options Parking: Easy parking Wheelchair accessibility: Nice flat entry
Best Thai food ever!! All of the staff are really nice! Highly recommend
Great food!
Dined in last night and ordered the crispy squid, red curry, and spicy lemongrass fried rice. The food was excellent and some of the best Thai food I ve ever had in Victoria . The cocktails were also amazing. Annabell was our server and provided us with excellent customer service. I will definitely be coming back!
So amazing, incredible food. Service was lovely.
Good
Horrible service. Dont bother going.
Great food and amazing service, definitely recommend coming here!!
My experience at Baan Thai was amazing. I got Francesca as a server and she was amazing, best service ever:)) will def be going again. Food is fab as well!!
Not really traditional Thai food, way too sweet in every dish
I loved my experience at Baan Thai! The food was truly amazing, the best Thai food I ve found in Victoria! The staff and service were so friendly and welcoming! I recommend this restaurant to everyone
Best Thai food in Victoria! The food is exceptional and the service is flawless. Our server, Ella, was so friendly and offered us some great recommendations. Delicious food, relaxed ambience and super friendly staff keep us coming back regularly. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
Had a great dinner here! Food was excellent, especially the Pad Thai! Best in Victoria!
Our favourite Thai restaurant in town! The gf pad thai, panang curry and Tom Kha Gai soup are some of our favs! The staff are always friendly and welcoming whether you re dining in or calling for take out. Highly recommend! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Delicious food and great service!
The food was good, but they forgot to make it spicy like I asked, and the vegetarian portion was very small for the $25 that I paid. Rice was also an additional five dollars.
Came here for lunch, had the drunken noodles - WOW! Absolutely delicious, will be back.
TERRIBLE! The Google menu prices are incorrect. We were disturbed to arrive at the restaurant to pick up our food and every dish was almost twice the price as advertised!! And the pineapple fried rice didnt even have pineapple in it!!
Baan Thai is a classic go to for Thai in Victoria. The food is consistently good and the space is calm and bright. Tonight though it was the service from Solomon that motivated a review. He was the best. Cheerful, attentive and friendly. Made our night.
Amazing pad thai, red curry gaeng and coconut rice. Didnt care for the drunken noodles
Very helpful staff and the food is amazing. Anne
Amazing time and amazing food. I highly recommend especially if youre new to the area. The food was phenomenal! Also the service from Toni was amazing.
Delicious food. Excellent service. Very knowledgeable and accommodating server Monica.
food like china and india
Ive eaten here many times and everything is always so good. Real delicious thai food with generous portions and the service is very quick! I highly recommend the bangkok noodles or the drunken fried rice.
A place to try in Oak bay. It was busy for a Tuesday. Great food and friendly staff. Good portion size and great taste.
Consistently excellent
Im was a regular customer until after paying $25 for a lunch special they made me pull out my card again even after I tipped them for a pickup order. For 26 cents for some chop sticks. Talk about cheaping out on your customers. Also a very foolish way to loose a regular customer. I wont be back. This could be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever come across in the restaurant industry.
I was there to pick up my online order. Stood at the bar for almost 15 mins. Three girls (staff) walked pass me but did not acknowledge my presence. There was nobody else waiting there except me. What a horrible customer experience is that? Train your staff or hire someone who knows what they are doing.
Good prices and good Thai food. Its served really fast. The crew is very kind.
The red curry was a bomb. So much flavor
I recently ordered take out. I subsequently went to the restaurant and discovered a person in front of me. One of the servers asked to serve him. When done with the client, she did not ask to help me. When it was apparent no one was going to help me (there were about 6 people serving behind the counter) I had to flag one of the servers down. Not acceptable. Update: They have improved last time I was there. Vegetarian options: Several options Parking: Usually easy to park
Overpriced compared to similar Thai restaurants and food. Service was quite poor
We came at a busier time so service was a bit slow. The meal was really nice though. We always ask for the spiciest level and tonight we werent disappointed! Kudos to the chef for making it perfectly hot hot . We had the red panang curry, pad graow pow and the papaya salad. All good portions and nice and hot (temperature) Good server. No complaints. We would come back.
I would give 0 stars if I could. We got food poisoning from this dirty restaurant. Rotten limes with our noodles. Beef was really chewy, noodles tasted like dirty frying oil. Hostess was clueless and not welcoming, service was sub par. Do not eat here.
8$ to add protein to a 20 lunch special!
Baan Thai has really gone downhill. I have recently had meals in two Baan Thai locations and they were poor. We used to be regulars there but after eating at other Thai restaurants I will not return to B T. Not only are the others better!!!!!!! but BT has truly gone downhill. I will not recommend
So good! I love the tofu in the curry s, not sure what they do but it s very yummy!
Should be called Bangin Thai. Cuz that Thai food was Bangin!
The food was certainly better the second time around (food cool) so that is positive. I must say the staff are really pleasant ...I will return!
Why cant you make your menu viewable on your website without me having to register?? customer lost
Great service, good authentic Thai food. Pad Thai and fried chicken wings were great. Curry and Nam noodle soup was good. Would avoid Tom Yung as its just wayyyy too salty.
Great staff and great food
I have no words. Baan Thai is the absolute best restaurant I have ever been to. The service is incredible, the food is divine, and the ambience is just right. I will be back again without a doubt!
Really good food.... However: On two separate occasions we received confirmation messages saying that our order was received only to show up and wait 20 to 40 minutes while the front staff hid the fact that the kitchen never received the order. I understand that mistakes happen and that isnt the reason that our experiences were frustrating. Both times the staff at the front counter didnt tell us that our order was missed and told us that it would be another couple of minutes. Standing at a counter for over 20 minutes, while other people come and go is a lot more frustrating than having someone apologize and give us an accurate ETA to come back/ offer a refund. When our order showed up it was obvious by the rush note in red that it was never received in the first place. Instead of apologizing or thanking us for waiting, the host said, dont worry you did nothing wrong when she handed us the bag. That is not what we wanted to hear, after standing around hungry for over 20 minutes. As much as I love the food here, I dont think I want to experience this a third time.
As a self proclaimed thai food enthusiast, Baan Thai is one of if not the best Thai restaurant I have been to in Victoria. The service here is great, the waiters are friendly and accommodating. Great for athletes, they serve lots of food for a pretty average price (~20$). When youre there dont forget to tip!
Waited 1hour for our order.
Very good food it was good. The food was also good price. The register was less good because it was hard to do. The restaurant location is also very good. Would go again.
Always late for delivery orders. People waiting. Staff lady not so polite. Don t waste your money on a restaurant like this. Make a change.
Loved it!! Going back for more!!
I love the staff at Baan Thai, everyone s so friendly! Super good food
Delicious Authentic Thai Food and Great Service would definitely come here again !
Maybe change your hours. Google maps says open until 11pm, your website says open until 10pm, and apparently you are only actually open until 9pm. It would be a funny joke if I wasnt hungry.
Good food and great portions
Best Thai in the city , great staff. Highly recommend:)
Baan Thai has the best food ever!! The service is also amazing and all the workers are super friendly! I would eat here everyday if I could!
Baanthai restaurant is the best Thai food in Victoria!!! The staff are always amazing and ordering takeout is always quick and easy !
Food was delicious! Had a great experience dinning here, our server was lovely. Overall a great experience and would definitely come back!
Absolutely amazing service, best Thai food I ve had on the island, very authentic. I had a really yummy beverage called the golden temple 10/10 on everything
We ordered the Phuket Phad Ped to take away and it was delicious. A variety of seafood perfectly done. Mild spice was the right choice, still hot enough for us and gorgeously flavoured! One entree with rice and an appetizer was the perfect amount for two people who dont have big appetites.
I got the dried red curry, it was really heavy and lacked spice. Wasn t gross but really really sub par. Service was fine.
I urge you to eat here, it s the best Thai food in Victoria!! Staff is always friendly and helpful, food is always so good and you can t go wrong with anything on the menu!
Delicious food! Love fried rice there! Amazing experience. Great service. Definitely will be back!
I am from Thailand and I had try phad med ma muang (Cashews wok-fry) , Phad Thai and Tom kah kai. The taste so delicious , They cook so good same taste like in Thailand also very good service and I want to come back again.
Baan Thai has the perfect mix of great food, atmosphere, and service. Definitely our new go to spot!
It was our first time there. We were very happy with our meal and will be back.
Baan Thai is one of my all time favourite thai restaurants! I recommend anyone who loves thai food to visit this restaurant.
This restaurant has a very welcoming atmosphere. The food was delicious and the service was phenomenal. We were particularly impressed by a young lady that worked there (it started with an A but her name is escaping me). She made sure that we were well taken care of during our meal and made our experience that much more enjoyable. We are from out of town but will be returning when we are back in the area.
Baan Thai is my new favourite spot to take my girls for lunch! The food is exquisite! The best place for any craving!! Their portions are huge, with the most loving staff members, who make me feel so welcomed!
Went to Baan Thai today for lunch. Nice atmosphere, comfortable tables. Clean. The food however left something to be desired. It was very salty and not very good. Service wasnt great. The server and girl who sat us were pleasant but never came to check on us or offer more water.
They have cheaped out by cutting back the portion size of a bowl of rice. My husband and I were pretty disappointed and will go to a different Thai food restaurant after many years at this one. It just struck us as a poor decision to increase profits on such a small item.
4 of 5 dishes we had were terrible. Too much soy, salty, no vegetables or greens in any dish other than the vegetable dish. The vegetable dish was full of celery and bok choy The crispy pork pieces tasted like dried, shriveled pieces of pork skin and fat, awful. The only good dish we had was the curry. Not an inexpensive dinner!
So so so delicious. The workers are so kind too. Lei is the sweetest ever Will definitely be back
Love this spot! Lunch special B is my go to. Cashew stirfry with a spring roll and delish starter soup. Generous portions, I always leave with leftovers. Food, atmosphere, and staff are always A+ Highly recommend!
I dont usually give out reviews ,But both the food & customer service was amazing .I ordered the chicken & rice for take out . It came with 3 nice pieces of chicken and the salad was super fresh ! All that for a reasonable price. It was also my last min dinner for me and I forgot my bag ( I was on my scooter today ) They gave me a bag so i can carry the food home ( Super appreciated)
Service & food did not meet expectations.
Initial seating and getting cocktails was excellent. Food was disgusting. Ordered W8 or larb chicken with seasoning and herbs. No flavour to food. Looked like dog food/ alpo. Service was then deplorable. No one came by to check on meal quality. Waitresses we noted to be chatting at bar. Very dissatisfied. Do NOT recommend.
The most delicious authentic Thai food, and such lovely staff. Excellent service.
I had originally had a 5 star rating for this restaurant but over the past year or so the quality has gone significantly down. We used to order from here around once or twice a month and our favorite dish was the pork larb. Maybe the last 4 or so times weve ordered, the larb has been really flavorless and watery. We tried a different Baan Thai location and the larb tasted totally fine, so it seems to just be this specific location. We really liked this place but the quality has gone significantly down and somehow the prices went up so we can no longer justify eating here.
Food quality has diminished and the wait time is ridiculous here. I don t know what happened, this place used to be awesome
besssst food ever !!!! the kitchen is so lovely & all the Thai food is authentic & so flavourful!
I rank them No.1 in Thai food. Loved the Thai meal we had here. Our server was Fah and she was super friendly and guided us really well.
Worst Thai food in Victoria, never gonna comeback again in this location, the only thing they had a great customer service!!food was no thai flavour overpriced in a very small portion,
They took more than 30 min which was already ordered half hour ago they have worst system and worst employee. I wont recommend ordering from there anymore
Sauce was off tasting. Not even close to how good it was when I went about 5 years ago. Sad:(
The staff is incredible. Baan Thai is delicious! We ordered the Cashew Vegetable Wok Fry and the Tom Yum soup. My favourites.
I love coming here for both dine in and take out. The staff are great and the food is reasonably priced. Love the menu of classic Thai dishes like phad Thai and tom yum soup, as well as new menu items like the Thai nachos. Vegetarian options: Dishes come with tofu. Other proteins are optional and extra. Parking: Large parking lot with plenty of spaces.
Great Food and Great service
Great foods! Not authentic, but very similar
It wasnt busy nor loud when I walked in to order take out, yet I had to repeat every word at least three to four times while pointing to the menu. I even paused to give the waitress time to input into the system and she looked at me like she was waiting me to finish my order? I guess my fault for not confirming, just felt like I was repeating non stop and trusted her confidence. Surprise, I came home to find out there was no meat added like I had requested multiple times. One dish was extremely salty, and the other was too sweet..but at least it was made within ten minutes.
The food is delicious! The staff and environment top off a great meal! Always a Go To for us and when friends visit.
Decent Tai food
Delicious meal and lovely staff. Take out is always quick and fresh!
Super prep of food!
Pad Thai for lunch. Good price for huge portion
Food is dynamite at this place and the customer service is AMAZING. I couldnt remember the name of the dish I wanted to order and ELLA said no worries, we will figure this out together.. can you remember what is in the dish? Absolutely in love with this young lady. She is going places my friends. Go check out Baan Thai Wok and Bar in Oak Bay and say hi to their wonderful staff (shout out Ella)
The service left much to be desired. The food was great.
Baan Thai always has great food and great service. Gaeng Gai is my favourite. Their red curry sauce is very flavourful.
The Bangkok noodles are amazing! I was in Victoria for the first time last month and I really enjoyed eating food from here!
Excellent food and the service was great.
Wow wow wow this has to be the best Thai restaurant in town and it has only gotten better. Im usually a green curry gal but ordered the Gaeng Galee yellow curry with chicken and the flavor profile was something else. The prawns appetizer was delish also!!
A little pricey but good sized portions of quality food The green curry is
Every dish Ive tried (and theres been a few over the last 3 years) is delicious!!!
Very slow across apps
I tried this place for the first time last week and I liked the food and the staff there was friendly.
i often order take away from here and the quality is consistently good. highly recommend trying them out.
We had a fantastic dinner last night! It is remarkable how smoothly things were running considering the restaurant is probably as short staffed as the rest of the industry. Despite having to work long hours, Anna and the rest of the staff were incredibly kind and treated us just like we were family coming over for dinner. Each dish we ordered was fabulous - so tasty and perfectly prepared. The veggies are vibrant and crisp, the sauces perfectly balanced and irresistible. I hear strories about how decimated the restaurant staffing situation is while also being overwhelmed with having too much volume of business. This is usually a good problem but in these past weeks it has pushed people in the industry to their max. It is remarkable that this restaurant is making consistently delicious food on a good day let alone under these circumstances. We will be eating our leftovers happily and gratefully today!
Wow. Absolutely amazing Thai food. The flavour and freshness was unreal this is the best Thai I ve ever had. It was so good we ordered an extra couple dishes to go for our native Thai friend to try she agreed it was authentic, high quality Thai food. Excellent.
I love the food and the generous portions but the spring rolls were just too oily!
The food is delicious and service is great.
Amazing food! I order from here all the time and I have never been disappointed!
I feel like the food has been on a steady decline here for several years. The prices continue to go up, and the portion sizes and quality continue to go down. This used to be one of my favorite places in Victoria, but after the third consecutive lackluster meal last night, Im thinking Ill be switching to Sookjai as my go-to.
Friendly staffs, nice food. Love their Thai ice tea. I think the price is affordable
Lovely Staff, excellent service! always a pleasure!
Awesome food, great service.
We arrived the restaurant by 5:30, placed our order by 5:45, and ordered nothing special but papaya salad, curry, and staff picked noodle soup. Waited an hour. All other tables after us got their food, we kept waiting and waiting and didnt even get our papaya salad which doesnt even need to cook!!! We asked friendly whether the waitress missed our order since its been an hour. She said of course not and said it was very busy in the kitchen and we should check the kitchen. We understand it was rush hour and kitchen has been busy, but the response from the waitress was very disrespectful. If you dont want to sit here and wait until you arenhypoglycemic, do not come!!! The Baan Thai in dt is way better than here. We left angrily without eating anything...will never come to this place again.
I put in my order at 5pm and was very surprised to see an 80 minute wait time for pickup, but when I arrived 80 minutes later I could see they were absolutely slammed with take out orders - there was probably over a dozen of them that went out in my 15 minutes there and more queued up to go. There was an incredibly rude woman belittling the staff as she told everyone around her how to do their jobs, accused the kitchen staff of all being on break, complained that people who had put in their orders earlier than her got their food, loudly told everyone who entered that their meal wouldnt be ready... the front of house staff were nothing but kind and patient with her as she absolutely belittled them. I picked up my food ~5 minutes behind the texted time (I was early), and all of it was delicious. I couldnt believe they were so busy and that it turned out so good - Ill be eating all week off of my $60 dinner combo for two, great value.
So after being on hold for 20 minutes on the phone, ordered online only to find out, after credit card info submitted and purchase is finalized, that wait time is 80 minutes. This info should be provided up front. Not too far away so we drove down to cancel the order--than as I spoke to them, I got a text saying it would be ready at 5:48 (ordered at just before 5) Decided that was okay, and left. Came back for 5:48--not ready. Ended up waiting until 6:15--close to half-hour after their text told me I could pick it up. I saw seven different employees up front at various points, and it wasnt as crazy as Ive often seen pickups on weekends--tonight is Thursday--but there were a number of people, like myself, who kept having to return because their food wasnt ready. I have attached a photo I took of the seating to show how busy the actual eat-in part was. I have been trying hard to be kind and supportive to all restaurant workers during Covid--but they need to sort this out. The food is pretty good, but let people know beforehand what the wait time will be, and dont send out texts that are no where near when youre actually going to have it ready. (our total was order was two Pad Thai and one serving of veggies) If you remember to order 90 minutes ahead of time, you should still manage okay.
Please change your business hours on your Google Listing to reflect the hours you are actually open.
Put in online order for delivery between 5:22 and 5:52. I received a text telling me my food would be dropped off at 5:42. Nothing showed up and when I called at 6, I was told my food was being packed up and wouldnt even be ready to go out the door for another 10 minutes. I know its a rough time for restaurants, but change your online system if you cant live up to it!! Good thing there are plenty of Thai options in town.
This place was amazing. Best take out Thai Ive had in a very long time. Will definitely be a repeat customer.
Outstanding food and service.
DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. I placed an order online and got a txt message saying the food is ready for pickup. after driving to the location they proceeded to tell me my food wasnt quite ready yet..... 45 mins later i was still standing there, the 6 servers that were behind the counter finally said they never received my order in the first place... and i wasnt the only one. about 10 other people standing there waiting. i then asked for a refund and she told me they dont know how to do that. over all it is by far the worst managed restaurant in victoria. no sort of training was clearly done and no managment on site to talk to. I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN.
A great place. I really like the pineapple fried rice! Delicious! I ve also tried other dishes as well. Bankok noodles, etc. Worth the price!
Can t fault Baan Thai as a go to Thai food option. Food is always good quality, reasonably priced and the place is open late. Can t ask for much more.
Best Thai in the city. Everyone loves this restaurant and the staff are genuinely happy to work there.
Ordered over $100 worth of food online, given a 60 min wait time and order ID. When we called in after 45 mins, they said they didn t have our order even though my card had been charged. Customer service was unapologetic, saying that we probably made a mistake online. They finally found our order, and said it could be ready in an hour (2 hours after we originally ordered). Had to cancel the entire order as our 4 year old and 2 year old were hangry by this point. Great food, terrible customer service.
The food is great but their ordering system is terrible. More than once I ve shown up to paid orders that have been lost and not prepared. The orders are then rushed but still take an hour. Just don t order here when you have somewhere to be!
Very nice service and delicious food
The vegetable red curry lunch special was absolutely delicious and a wonderful value!! Highly recommended!
Worst experience ever ! Ordered chicken satay and Tom ka chicken soup in the restaurant .and sit waiting in there for an hour .
Absolutely abysmal delivery experience. They sub contract their delivery though door dash and the food showed up an hour late and cold. I will never order from here again.
Very good place to get delicious food and good service. Very happy with the options and size of portions you get. Thanks
