Initially me and my wife planned to go to Ciccio s Cucina for lunch but cannot found that food truck, so we cross the street and ate at this place. My wife had a pad Thai with tofu and I had a red curry with beef. Curry is good, but I doubt the tofu is overnight or gone bad, my wife vomit an hour after our lunch and I do feel a little uncomfortable because I took one bite of her pad Thai. Really ruined our day because we have to go to rest instead of exploring this beautiful city.

Lovely meal

Peanut Thai Chicken that I had was mouthwatering delicious. One small issue was quickly addressed and I was very pleased with everything.

Good food. Staffs are nice. The only problem is they use low quality plastic container. The plastic container melt when it contained hot food, which is really unhealthy. If the owner can read this, I hope you can change container to better quality one.

17$ for chicken and vegs. 7$ for rice.. Thats way to much money.. It was a small chicken dish, the rice dish was over Portion to the chicken dish.. Not worth it. 24bucks ur charging to much for wat it is...

Wonderful curries and stir-fries, though truthfully I can only comment on those dishes that they can make vegan and GF. They do not mess about, when it comes to spice, so expect hot to actually be fiery hot, rather than Canadian hot. I could only give it 3 stars for atmosphere, because they have been a take-away restaurant since the plague. Seems unfair to rank them otherwise, using a metric for gauging sit-down restaurants.

I highly recommend Kwao Thai! The food is phenomenal! And the staff are so kind.

I got the pad Thai with the mild-medium, but it was definitely compared to a 4/5 at other restaurants. It was actually too spicy, it made my yummy sick. I m typically good with spice But the chicken skewers were good.

We got several really disappointing dishes. Fried wontons--greasy and soft. Texture off. Yellow curry--couldnt taste the coconut milk. No flavour, salt, or spice. Pad Thai--tasted like it was cooked in scorched oil. Ir was very dry--no tamarind sauce. We ordered another noodle dish that tasted ok. The sauce they used on the chicken wings was good. Wings are braised in liquid rather than fried. We were really surprised by the lack of flavour and spice. They have been much better in the past.

Prawns & chicken tossed noodles were tasty. Similar to drunken noodles, yet not overpowering seasoned, I could taste lime from the dish. It comes along with some broth. I do not know what kind of broth, though.... it was just a salt water to me. I had a one sip and couldnt have more. It was just too salty, not edible. I told the waitress about broth. I didnt get any response.

Have been going here for years from the previous owners to the current owners. The food is always amazing and the staff are always so welcoming. Highly recommended we always make it a point to stop by when we are in Vic.

The food was outstanding. We had Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai and Penang Curry. We like a bit of spice and medium was truly that. Made our mouths dance and has left us excited for our next order.

Not a lot of room to sit and eat but the food is amazing.

Absolutely the best yellow pineapple curry in town! The staff are so kind and fast, all our meals have been so delicious. Oh, and coconut rice!

Best Thai food I ve ever had. Red Curry with shrimp, Pad Thai with chicken, Basil with beef. All with their own unique flavours. Great service. Order ready when they said it would be ready.

Nice lil apot here, I had the mahsaman it was pretty good but expected a bit more for almost 20. Thats just how it is these days lol. Still they had a pretty large menu so theres lots more to try! Cheers

Kwao Thai consistently puts out great food with unique flavours!! Recently had a pad Thai with chicken medium heat ,and a side of peanut sauce. It was fantastic and received wonderful service pre ordering before opening

Ordered from the lunch specials menu and it didn t disappoint! Freshly cooked, medium spicy stir fried black bean is so good! Very generous serving and great customer service. Wish they will bring back the Thai milk tea!

Amazing Thai! We are from Ontario and notice the spice level is not as hot but our one notch less than Thai hot had a lot of heat and tasty. The green Thai chicken is recommended as well as the spring rolls and wontons! We will be back next time in Vic!!

Every experience Ive had there has been fantastic. Today I mistakenly ordered mild when I usually do a medium - and I think its safe to say that if you are a person who cant handle heat, the mild would be very appropriate bet for you. Still flavourful but without the burn (although I think the burn is the best part). Looking forward to my next order!

Kwao Thai is our favourite Thai restaurant in Victoria! The owners are lovely, and the food is always so delicious. Our favourite dishes are Stir Fry with Cashews, Eggplant with prawns, Drunken Noodles, and their Curries!

We ordered take out for dinner. Everything was delicious, fresh and hot. The only thing was the yellow curry. I asked which curry was the mildest (red, yellow or green) and was told they were all the same. ?? I asked for the mildest one. We got the green and it was spicy. Not crazy but not mild.

Great food, such welcoming staff! I can t recommend this place enough! 10/10. Definitely if your looking for a good place to eat and wanting very authentic Thai food look no further. You won t be disappointed. #treatyoself

Take out only. Dishes were tasty. Plenty of vegetarian options. My only complaint, we ordered Spring Rolls but were told they had none when we picked the order.

Vegetable Pad Thai came with chicken in it. Spring rolls dry. Would not recommend.

okay wowowowowwow I seriously think Kwao Thai is some of the best Thai food ive had. Hands down the best in the city IMO. The green curry is my goto, but every other dish Ive tried has been incredible. Ive also had only positive experiences with wait times! Very efficient but the quality never suffers. Thank you Kwao, you are hard to beat.

We love the food, always ready on time, but wed also love to see the restaurant use compostable takeout containers where possible instead of plastic and styrofoam. This is the only earth we have, and we should do everything we can to reduce our impact on it. _/I\_

Kwao Thai restaurant unfortunately scrapped the delicious rice soup and Thai spring roll from the lunch menu, which the past ZAP Thai restaurant did serve. The deep-fried wonton does not taste that good at all and on top of that, it is Chinese food. The sweet and sour stir-fry was so sweet that it could be qualified as a dessert. The food generally is just OK, but not that I would recommend it. I lived 19 years in Southeast Asia and know Thai cuisine very well, so I know what I am talking about. Your prices are way much too high for what you serve, and the restaurant is a little shabby. This is why I give you a one star only.

If you like authentic Thai food try this hole in the wall the picture of the King proudly displayed is the first clue you are in a real Thai restaurant The food is GREAT , be warned hot ( spicy ) means hot, dont expect a toned down Western version of Thai food, as mentioned its authentic.

Definitely a good place for a quick healthy meal. The meals are cooked on the spot and are ready very fast. You can call in an order to pick up.

Food is decent. My wifes favorite is stir fry basil with long bean. It was delivered with green beans, when I called to mention it I was told they are the same thing. Dont appreciate being talked down to especially when I know they are different.

I have recently tried this restaurant, it is the best Thai food I have had on vancouver island. The portions are very generous and delicious. The staff are friendly, highly recommended. My new goto place to eat.

Very good take-out. Mild-medium spice level (mildest option) still has a bit of a kicky tingle, so be aware that it wont be a functionally non-spicy option, but still good.

Easily the best Thai food in Victoria! Very authentic, super flavourful, and great portion sizes. I order from here anytime I have guests over, and they re always impressed. Also has the sweetest staff! The yellow curry is my fav! :)

One of my favourite local restaurants. I probably eat here more than I should, but its hard to beat the food, service, and friendly staff. The Cashew Chicken is delicious and well worth a visit.

Best Phad Thai on the island, and typically ready in under 15 minutes. Only downsides to this place are the seating area leaves a bit to be desired and the spice levels seem about one level higher than what you see at most other places. The quality of the food and service more than make up for these little shortcomings though. If youre looking for takeout and like Thai food, this is defintiely the place to go.

Love it. The portion sizes are generous, prices are reasonable and the flavours are amazing. This is one of the better Thai offerings in town for sure, and its usually quiet, which is a perk. Highly recommend this restaurant!

The food is great. The waiter is so nice and friendly. But they dont have Thai iced tea and that is very disappointing.

I just ordered their lunch special cashew chicken, and its so good I actually just had to write a review. So full of flavour, just the right kick of heat, a really good deal to with generous portions. Probably one of the most delicious cashew chicken dishes Ive ever had.

I just baught the drunking noodles and the cocunut tom yum soup it sum of the most amazing thai food. This place is a hidden jem,fast, friendly and the place is spotless. And its very resonably price...

Ive eaten at most likely every Thai restaurant in the City, and none have come close to the service, taste, and cost that is given at Kwao Thai. I typically order 2-3 times a week, typically sticking with the Pad Thai. However I was was suggested to order the Tom Kha by a server and its honestly the best Thai Soup Ive ever had. Nearly every staff member remember you by first name, and its a truly a treasure of a restaurant.

Take out was tasty but DO NOT ORDER CHICKEN WINGS. We ordered some curry and soup which was quite good. We also ordered the chicken wings for $12 and all we got was what is in the picture. 9 pieces, super small . Actually the were split wings so that only works out to 4.5 small wings. They had really no special flavour at all. They were deep fried which is fine, but any flavour that they had before going into the frier was totally lost. Highly recommended not getting the wings.

Enjoyed a good lunch here on Saturday: chicken fried rice and noodles with pork. Just like a previous reviewer said: great food, great service, and authentic taste. Well worth a visit.

(and thats competing against a couple other strong contenders for top spot). it is a very small affair, so get ready to just get right into it. you wont regret this gem of esquimalt.

Best Thai fried rice in town in a lovely neighborhood. We usually visit them once or twice a week. Although, we ordered the chicken wings once and it was rather disappointing. For $12, you get 4 very dry overcooked wings. Not something I would expect for a restaurant. Overall, a place worth to check out if you love Thai food.

We have been a couple of times. Enjoyed the coconut soup and Pad Thai. Have specials everyday. Service is pleasant and you can hear the sizzle of the wok as they prepare your food.

Not as good as Zap Thai was but still good. We had the green curry which was excellent but the pad thai was not as aromatic as Zap used to make it and was a bit over sauced. Tasty still but we like the noodles stir fried in extreme high heat. Service was slow on Saturday night too as they were catering to take out orders. We had to remind them we were ther.

Best Thai in town, authentic flavors and friendly service . I eat here a minimum of 3 x a week, so good!
