Sabhai Thai Restaurant in Victoria

I ordered food for pick up. Since this establishment has been opened I have only ordered Chicken Pad Thai. That being said, I know how it s suppose to taste. My first bite I knew something was amiss. It was so oily and the taste was off, blah. I had to dump all the noodles onto paper towel to soak up the excess oil. My question is do you guys have different cooks in there? I don t think I ll be ordering there again very sad. It was my favourite place to go. This is the langford location.

Go-to Thai spot in Langford! I find it really odd that they don t use the correct noodle for Pad See Ew but they have many others tasty dishes!

Very disappointed. My husband and I were looking to do a take-out order. We called we at 8:04pm (they close at 8:30pm), and were told - by a very polite and friendly staff member - that the kitchen had already closed. My husband has worked in the restaurant industry over several decades and was unimpressed that this kitchen shut down early. Their food looks good on their website, however, we will not be dining there. *update* We have since decided to give this restaurant an opportunity to redeem our first impression. We have been met with food that is hit or miss - it is either, very tasty, or lacks any flavor. Spice levels are also inconsistent, asking for medium spice sometimes results in extremely mild, other times you get more spice than expected, and if youre lucky, youll get a good balance. The portions have been good, and the staff has always been courteous and friendly. However, the food itself is their downfall, and we will likely frequent other local Thai food places over Sabhai Thai.

Always great food and service.

Having been to Thailand a few times, the food was alright. Ordered the spring rolls and Pad thai with beef. The Portions were quite large, but it was sooo much noodle. It seemed like the focus was quantity when it should have been more on quality, depth of flavour. Service was a bit awkward.

My mother in her late 70s loved this place as she was an Asian woman who mostly lived in Asia. She found the waitresses to be charming and the food to be almost spot on ! The atmosphere is nice with a wood burning stove . Friendly staff. The best Thai food in all of Victoria !

This is my go-to Thai spot in the city! Our recent visit was enjoyable, though the red curry was a touch too salty. Aside from that, everything else was absolutely delicious as always.

Our first time here! It s a winner! We had the Drunken noodles with chicken and the bamboo beef. We started with the spring rolls, both veggie and chicken. Exactly what we wanted, how we wanted it. Highly recommended! We ll be back.

Great Thai place: nice take out portions and in house dining has a bit of a romantic atmosphere. Only downside is dinner hours start at 5:00. Wish they opened earlier for us families with kiddos!

The room was chilly but the food is incredible. Vegetarian options: We had two vegetarians and two with lactose intolerance , they fed us all without issues. Dietary restrictions: Two lactose intolerant dinners. Fed well. Kid-friendliness: 6 children in restraunt when we were there. Wheelchair accessibility: All one level with no stairs or ledges.

Great big portions !

If youre looking for authentic thai food, this is not the spot, this is hybrid food. Not one dish had thai chili peppers in it. Everything was lacking in sodium, and everything was grotesquely sugary, tasted like it had corn syrup dumped on it. I wanted to like this place, but I have been to Thailand and had the real deal. Some restaurants try too hard to appeal to North Americans flavor profile, and this one is no exception. Also, the food left a very weird mouth feel for a long time after eating, almost like that feeling of eating too much pineapple, and your mouth starts to hurt, not sure what that was about. One pro is the staff and restaurant itelf were pretty nice.

The shrimp were muddy and not tasty. I should have ordered the chicken curry. You should change the source of your shrimp.

Amazing. The yellow curry is to die for. Also I love how you cut your carrots its delightful. Coconut rice too is so good.

Best Thai food in town!

If you are craving Thai then this is your place as the food was excellent and we were both hungry, taking pictures of our food was an after thought. With that said, we both had soup (chicken hot n sour soup and prawn coconut soup) and entrees (chicken pad Thai and basil seafood), everything was great. On top of all of this, wine prices are excellent nice to find a restaurant that doesn t try to gouge you on a bottle.

Generally speaking, I love the food here. It wasn t the quality, it was the heartbreak in take out service. All day I was arguing with my brother about rice. He said to buy it there and I said I would make it at my house where we were having our dinner party. He came back at me with but I like coconut rice . Last time I tried and failed to make coconut milk rice. So I begrudgingly bowed my head and agreed to add it to our 300$ order. What s another 10 bucks???? To cut the story short, after our constant banter back and forth all day, THEY FORGOT TO PUT THE RICE IN THE BAG!!!!!! It s definitely not the cost, it s the inconvenience of not having the base to put your 300$ worth of vegetables on. So our food grew cold as I pulled out the rice cooker and proceeded to make normal rice, much to the chagrin of my brother. The main problem is we were now 15 minutes from Sabhai and it only takes 20 minutes to make the rice. Needless to say our dinner event was less enjoyable and cold, now it had been made an hour previous. Because they simply forgot the rice. Check your order before leaving!!

Love love love this place!! When my wife and I a re looking for Thai.. this is THE place to go. I have yet to have a bad experience here and I would say we go here at least once a month. Their Panang red curry is to die for!! Do yourself a favor and just go to Sabhai Thai.. Youll thank me!

First and foremost, I want to say how pleased I was with our server, Sam, tonight!!! Our visit was nothing big or extravagant, just a quick stop in for dinner, but the energy and attention to detail for our experience was OUTSTANDING! Secondly, this was our first visit to Sabhai Thai, for which Im in disbelief that I waited so long! PERFECT atmosphere, great lay out, busy but not crowded, food was out of this world good! My stomach is still stuffed and I already want to go back! Thanks for doing food right Sabhai Thai!!! I look forward to coming back!!

Good food,even if you cant do spice.

Great food at a great price! I usually go during the lunchtime hours from 12 to 2. There are three options at the bottom of the lunch menu. I LOVE the vegetarian pad thai combo. It comes with a spring roll, a cup of their signature soup and a large portion of pad thai. I usually get medium spice, which is enough for me! Not hot enough??? Ask for their table caddy of spices. That will do the trick!

Best drunken noodles

We visited with a small group last night for the first time, at the suggestion of a friend, at were really impressed! Two of our group are vegan and got the veggie pad Thai and said it s the best they ve had on the island. Really happy with the quality, portion size, service, and ambience and can t wait to visit again!

We regularly order from the Langford location and enjoy the food. The prices have gone up in the last few months which is understandable with rising food costs but I am disappointed with my order the last few times. The red curry price has increased and usually it s a share item between two people but the last few times, the quantity of chicken and vegetables has reduced by 1/3 to 1/2. I understand raising prices but I don t think that the order size should also decrease. There was barely enough ingredients in the curry for one person while the amount of sauce was the same. I hope the management reviews the portions to make sure that quality and quantity remain the same as customers are accustomed to.

Decent thai food with some quality control issues. Must try the drunken noodles and spring rolls. Unfortunately the curry is super inconsistent, sometimes its perfect, other times like today s order as pictured, they put barely any curry sauce in the dish and its just dry and flavourless. Ive spoken with the manager about this before and she was super friendly but the problem has still not been resolved in the kitchen. What is the point of the curry without the curry sauce?! I hope this issue can be resolved. 2.5/5 stars Update: 02/02/23 - Curry was much better on todays order! 4/5

Delicious! Best Thai Ive had for some time. We shared the drunken noodles and the prawn curry, which was excellently prepared. Both very tasty. We also enjoyed a twist on the crême brulé. Our server was very attentive. As we entered and left, staff took a moment to greet us and wish us a good evening. This was the norm in days past, however, it is increasingly the exception these days. We will be back soon.

Delicious food from mild to hot. Reasonable $$.fair atmosphere.

I ordered the #47. Som Tum (Papaya Salad) for $19: Spicy (mild) green papaya salad with tiger prawns (generous portion, very fresh, no shells, perfectly cooked and cleaned), ripe fresh diced tomatoes, crispy fresh diced long bean, crushed peanuts fresh squeezed lime juice and roasted cashews. 11/10!!! I could eat that every meal. Also had some chicken spring rolls; also delish My hubby ordered a mild Pad Thai which I tasted and it was the best Ive tried so far in Greater Victoria.

First time here for us and we loved it! Had the prawn pad Thai and cashew chicken with coconut rice as well as an appetizer (special). Food was fresh, so tasty and great portions. Waitstaff was very friendly, restaurant was clean and an all around great dinner experience Will definitely be back!

Always amazing and the staff is very kind and efficient. Ive been craving the yellow curry since I left the island and years later it s still just like I remember, definitely my favourite restaurant to this day. The dinner portions for me are big enough to have leftovers that still taste great the next day. Rice doesn t come with the meal but comes in the same size container as the curry which is worth it for the what they charge.

Ive been going here for years and the quality of the food has been very good and consistent. I find that lunch here is a little more economical than dinner. Always good place to go for great food!

Nowadays its hard to leave a restaurant feeling full. Sabhai Thai Restaurant had large delicious portions of freshly-made Thai food that leaves you with left-overs! We noticed most other tables leaving with left-overs! Yay! The spring rolls were good but the standout was the Pad Thai and the Curry! The sophistication of the spice made it hot but not the kind of hot that you feel the need to drink water. We couldnt finish our dinners because there was so much food. Definitely a must-try place in Langford. I cant wait to go back! Friendly service as well!

What a great authentic restaurant! There were loads of menu choices and we enjoyed every bite of our food! They are very accommodating in you request your meal be made vegan too. I wish they could have a vegan peanut sauce on hand because its one of my favorite things, but they have prawn paste in theirs. The service was excellent and the meals came quickly. Atmosphere was very nice too. All in all, a yummy night out! Vegetarian options: Just make sure you ask for your food to be made vegan or vegetarian in case they use fish sauce or something of the sort.

The worst ever server I ve met ever. Everything was fine at the beginning. I found hair in my soup when I almost finished it, and I brought it up to the server when I got the bill, then got blamed for telling him too late. I told the server there were 2 small problems with the soup, one was the soup being too sweet and the other was there s hair in the soup. After the server checked from the kitchen, he said the chief has brown hair, and he looked at me (my hair is black). He spoke with such a rude attitude which made me feel shocked, and when I asked to talk to the manager, he sounded very angry. I said I didn t like his manner, and he said you can complain to the manager, the owner, or never come back, I don t care ! I was completely speechless. My intention was to flag the problem so that the kitchen could make some improvements in the future, I didn t ask for a discount or anything, I never intended to. However, the way he handled my situation was awful, and I was super disappointed.

Used to order the drunken noodles from here all the time. Ordered it before closing and got something resemble the menu item at all and was extremely spicy even though we asked for mild/medium. Not sure if the cooks were upset because it was half an hour that we ordered take out before they closed or what happened but wish I didnt spend my money.

Very tasty but my curry was way to sweet! My dessert was less sweet that the curryIt is pricey too. Nothing comes with the curry so you have to pay an extra 3$ for rice and 3.25$ for rice noodles. Considering the price of these en big quantities , it is deceiving that you are supposed to eat a curry with nothing . When you order a curry plate for 20 to 25$ you expect to have that... The server was also asking my group if we wanted rice or noodles with the curry as if it was coming with it. So we all thought it did. Watch the price! Nice decorations and music

I cant say its Better than their Sidney location, but its definitely up to par! Highly recommend the Tom Yum soup - hot means hot. Pad Thai is fantastic too. Excellent service, very sharp decore, clean!

Even the food is not too bad, the service is just at the bottom level. We d waited for an hour but they just served 2 dishes at said there are some problems with the machine. But guess what, the table that came after us, they have all the main dishes on the table. I guess they dont know how to prioritize things. We told them, and they didnt even show a good face to us. So disappointed, not gonna recommend it to any of my friends

The best food! Had khao soon for the first time and it was delicious.

Last night I ordered take out dinner for a work event. Super easy to place the order by phone. The online portal wouldnt work for me. The food was ready on time. The prices were very fair. But the rave is all about how yummy the food was. So good!!!! A nice medium spice, a good variety of dishes to share family style and it was easy to get a good selection for our vegetarians and dairy free folks. The consistency of the experience at this restaurant cannot be understated.

My pastor said he wanted to try it. So walking in with our Halloween costumes we ordered. My plate was so delicious i ended up finishing it without an amazing presentation picture. Our server helped us out over and over.......with more hot sauce, then flakes and spices. Both my husband and pastor know now to ask for the heat next time! I loved mine just as it was. Yummy!!!!!

First and last time at this place. The waiter was abrupt and rude at first. His behaviour descended into abrasive, scolding and scary. We couldnt wait to get out of there, barely eating any of the meal.

Went with my mom and older sister. Delicious Garlic Pork (Moo Gratiem) was very fresh and flavorful with bean sprouts and rice!

Hands down the best Thai food I ve ever had! The restaurant was so so kind in accommodating my vegetarian family. We ordered the pad Thai, yellow curry, basil tofu stir fry and papaya salad. Every dish tasted so delicious, perfectly flavored and authentic. They were hesitant at first, worrying that the papaya salad wouldn t taste good without fish sauce but they did end up making it vegetarian for us and it was SO good. So refreshing and yummy, and so happy because it s so hard for vegetarians to get a veg papaya salad. Saving this to my google list and will definitely be back if I m in Victoria again!

Friendly service, quick service and excellent curry with quite a lot of choices. Restaurant was busy and reservations were being taken, so I m going to assume others felt the same way about the restaurant as well. Both the green curry and red curry was rich and flavourful. Both, respectively, enjoyed their right amount of heat and spice. If I was to find any fault, and it s a small one, I would say that the jasmine rice was a tad too sticky, but I could only imagine the amount of rice they have to make each day in preparation for dinner. We took home leftovers and had it the next day the portions were that large. The Siracha honey tofu bites were very very good as an appetizer as were their chicken spring rolls. For the 4 of us, each with our own entree and two shared appetizers, the total was just over $100. With the leftovers for dinner the next day the price was a good value.

Top 5 best pad Thai Ive ever had. I got mine with prawns and chicken. Only complaint would be I ask for mine to be spicy but the spices were just added on top and not mixed in. When I got back to the hotel the spice has stuck to the chicken from the moisture and made it impossible to mix as I didnt have a plate. Please mix spices into the dish

Love this place, if you can only go to one Thai resteraunt in the area make it this one

I had heard good things about this restaurant. It was hard to get a booking so we just came and we were seated within 10 mins, despite it being busy. The server(s) are, polite, nice and friendly. The food was, let me say, the best Thai food I have had so far in Canada. We would go again, it is a cozy little place beautifully decorated. The portions are good sized too.

Food is always good, have never eaten in yet but the staff are always friendly on pick up.
