1019 Blanshard St, Victoria, BC V8W 2H7, Canada
Upscale & modern, this restaurant specializes in farm-to-table vegan cuisine & superfood cocktails.
Amazing that they are completely gluten free. Their mac bowl is generally good! Anything other than a Mac bowl I’ve tried has tasted odd… The workers are often odd. They also charge a fee for a tiny cardboard box for takeout. Good for celiacs, but mid overall. $12 for a tiny slice of cheesecake also.
As a vegan, this was on my list of places for my visit to Victoria. I was solo and sat at the bar for dinner. They have a great, healthy all-vegan menu, with many options paying homage to a variety of cuisines. Everything looked so good and as a vegan, it's rare to have so many options - I had a hard time choosing. I went with the Golden Noodles and the Earthblood Tonic (fresh juice). They did not disappoint! Delicious, fresh, flavorful, balanced. The Golden Noodles were like a warm hug on a cold, dark evening, with the perfect amount of spice and noodle/broth ratio. The tofu was perfectly cooked too. The service was kind and attentive throughout. I look forward to returning on my next visit and trying more off the menu.
So incredible. The Mac is one of my favourite dishes in the city. The quality of the food is unmatched anywhere in the city, and it’s so so healthy! Must go
This is a great little gluten free place. Family member completely gluten intolerant. Entire family of 6 had the gnocchi. It was sublime. I like the herbal takes on root beer and coke. Good variety of alcohol too. Group of 6 has the gratuity included.
This is a vegan restaurant in Victoria that non-vegans will like because the food is made with care and quality ingredients. I am not a vegan and we had 2 great lunches. The people are very patient while explaining the food and very pleasant. We will put this restaurant on our "must visit" list every time we go to Victoria. Try it! You will not be disappointed.
I recently visited Be Love Café in Victoria with my kids. The atmosphere was lovely, and the service was friendly, which made for a pleasant experience. While the food was generally good, I found that it wasn't very kid-friendly. The menu lacked options that would appeal to younger diners, and my kids didn't enjoy the burger, which I found to be a bit bland. Additionally, I felt that the prices were on the higher side, which could be a drawback for families looking for more affordable dining options. Overall, it’s a nice spot for adults, but I would recommend looking elsewhere if you're dining with kids.
So delicious! The mac bowl is their most popular bowl and I can see why. It was delicious, innovative, and packed with veggoes. The texture and mouth feel were the best I have had for mac n cheese. Very saucy in the best way. The walnuts, greens, mushrooms, and brocolli were fantastic additions. The rising sun bowl was lighter and also very good. Fantastic service as well. We’ll need to try the beautiful dessert next time!
Be Love is a really great restaurant. We were in Victoria twice and each time went here for very yummy. Vegan food. We also enjoyed their smoothies. The second time we also grabbed a dinner to go in addition to a meal on site. The staff was friendly and the seating comfortable with great ambiance. Service was fast and the food was fresh. We highly recommend this restaurant.
We went to Be Love because they offered vegan food and minimally processed ingredients. But we are no longer vegan and it still has the best Mac and cheese Ive ever tasted! It tastes like the perfect comfort food, elevated to a level of nourishing and delicious that Ive never experienced before. Everything else weve tried has been very good as well. But the Mac and cheese is the best!!
So nice to have a total full service vegan place Vegetarian options: Vegan Wheelchair accessibility: Maybe call first. Im sure they would accommodate, but may have a spot that would be ideal
I went there today and had tacos, it was super tasty. The atmosphere is amazing, perfect place for candle light dinner. Thank you Amanda for your wonderful service, we need more people like you.
Excellent quality ingredients and delicious food! The only restaurant that doesnt use cheap canola and vege oils to cook with. They use olive oil and sunflower oil. They care about quality.
The forks were dirty, they gave us filthy cloth napkins, and the food was utter trash. I could of went to Tim Hortons but instead I ended up in this dumpster due to my Hangriness. I hate vegan food but I support the cause.
Amazing vegan gluten free restaurant. A must destination for all when visiting Victoria!! Definitely worthy of Michelin Star status!!
Oy vey. The desire to love this place... First and foremost, our server was lovely and the experience was lovely. The space gives off nice, romantic, date vibes, which is rare in the vegan world and almost unexpected in a small-city like Victoria. The drinks were also quite good - earthy cocktails - fancy pantsy local beers. I want to say, first and foremost, I realize it is gluten-free and that I am not gluten-free. At the same time, I have had cuisine that caters in that direction and it still tastes yum. I think, to be honest, this restaurant does too much - vegan, gluten free, healthy - many boxes to tick off AND make the food taste good. That is a lot of challenge and, I think, with the lack of oil, it makes it difficult. The sando with tempeh was okay, but was mush between two gluten-free, dry pieces of bread. The same can be said about the burger. The fries, or roasted potatoes, also had a textural blandness to them. Take the food of Bunnys Nook and place it in this atmosphere - bingo bongo. Vegetarian options: all Dietary restrictions: gluten free
Generally very good vegan food. Lots of choices. Friendly, cheerful atmosphere. Sadly when we went there Saturday Nov 2, 2024, we were told a minimum 35-40 minute wait since we did not have a reservation. Within five minutes two other couples, also without reservations, were seated.
DoorDash listing didn t mention that the spicy mayo is made of cashews (other listings with nuts did), had an allergic reaction
Absolutely wonderful food, we got macncheese, the fermented appy board, burgers and lovely Bliss Kiss chocolates at the end. All food is Vegan and delicious and Gluten free. You will for sure find many delightful foods here. A must in Victoria, BC.
Gluten free
Beautiful experience!! I had the daily soup (so delicious) and my friend had the Gado Gado salad. Service was top notch, a guy with curly hair was so friendly, considerate, respectful and kind. Beautiful art and great ambience. Reasonably priced. All in all, a fab experience. Would go back for sure. Thank you!!
Great vegan takes on classic dishes. The quesadilla is spectacular and the Mac and cheese is great. Wonderful variety of drinks as well.
Im not a vegan, or vegetarian, but ate there tonight and was blown away. The food is some of the best Ive ever eaten, anywhere! And the service was friendly and efficient.
The food was healthy and flavorful although there were a few sour bites in my dish that wasn t supposed to be there. I would ve gave it 4 stars but my $5 dessert was the same size as my pinky finger. I m a little disappointed I was excited about this place :/
The vibe was semi-upscale and still very relaxed. Great food and a great range of options for vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc dietary restrictions.
All around outstanding! Really great service for starters. Very knowledgeable on the menu and very welcoming. Thanks Dylan (spell chk). The gnocchi went to 11. The cocktails were deliciously unique. Cant say enough.
The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was lovely. I have mixed feelings about the food. The dessert was outstanding one of the best I ve had but the vegan burger was inedible. It was far too salty, the burger patty was small and overly chunky, and the bread was hard and flavorless. I typically avoid sauce, so I could tell it was much worse than any other burger I ve had in BC. This could have been an isolated issue, as the side salad was delicious, and I get the sense the food is generally good. I hope they improve the burger, or simply opt for something else when you visit
I just visited Be Love today after lunch time with high hopes, and while the customer service was genuinely excellent, the experience left a lot to be desired. The staff was friendly, attentive, and quick to greet me with a smile, which created a welcoming atmosphere. However, my enthusiasm quickly faded when I tried their turmeric latte. Unfortunately, the turmeric latte was a huge disappointment. The taste was off, with an overwhelming bitterness and an odd aftertaste that I couldnt quite place. It lacked the smoothness and warmth youd expect from a well-made turmeric latte. On top of that, the price was outrageously high for what was essentially a subpar drink. I left feeling unsatisfied and slightly baffled at how something could cost so much and taste so bad. While I appreciate the great customer service, the quality of the drink and its steep price left a lot to be desired. I hope they can improve their offerings because the staff certainly deserves better products to serve their customers.
The food is so flavourful without any additional sauces, but the sauces are great too. Ive tried just about everything there and it was all delicious. It can get a bit messy when eating though but thats expected when the portions are good and the food isnt full of fillers.
What a great experience, their food is amazing, the place is lovely and the staff is the friendliest.
Oh men, oh men, my new happy place. The mac and cheese is out of this world (as someone said below). The cheese cake is DELICIOUS.
Delicious vegetarian food. Very creative. Great ambience. Super friendly staff
All of their food is gf and vegan. The most delish food, specialty lattes, and desserts! Celiac friendly
My fiancé and me ate lunch (Mac & bowl) at this restaurant and we were super happy doing so. Our waitress was one of the friendliest people we ve ever met and the food was even more delicious. A 5 star rating is the least we can do to support the team! Greets from Germany
I always bring friends visiting Victoria here. High quality vegetarian high vibes. Vegetarian options: All veg
Staff were very accommodating and friendly. Food was excellent. Would definitely recommend
My wife and I both thought our meals were excellent. They also have an amazing selection of drinks made by their mixologist. Very nice atmosphere as well.
The Quesadillas and the Mac bowl was delicious. The orange vanilla Cheesecake was okayish. The place has a soothing vibe to it. There golden bowl was as good as the other two dishes
Terrible service. Inattentive and slow. Food was good. It was also hot and loud in the restaurant.
Tonight, I got the potato leek soup. One night wasnt enough. I want to take that soup out for a week long vacation on a private greek island, just the two of us on a beach. Id woo the hell out of that soup. Fancy dinners. Designer jewelleries. Helicopter rides into the sunset. Then, Id let her go. Because that soup deserves to be shared with the world.
As a person that has celiac disease and vegan..rarely do I get to eat out with NO concerns..very happy..will be back. Its my new favorite Dietary restrictions: Many awesome choices for gluten-free and vegan
Lovely vegan restaurant that continues to serve very good dishes, better than most vegan/vegetarian places Ive frequented.
Tasty food. I got the Mac and cheese. It was out of the world delicious!
We just had the most delicious experience of our entire vacation! Dylans service was excellent and we will be coming back!
Great food and service. Highly recommended. The highlight for me was the lentil dal
So yummy and fresh! Cozy atmosphere. Super friendly staff:) Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan think it might be all healthy vegan no fake yucky cheese homemade cashew cheese instead Food : 5/5 |
Over the last couple of days, I have gone to Be Love on my way to run a particular errand. I have had smoothies, particular protein boost and cacao cacao, a few times, typically when in the neighbourhood for one reason or another. Its not a place I go to if not already in the neighbourhood. It is quite expensive, especially with tip. The guy who made the smoothie yesterday and today came across as a bit odd, somehow - judgemental or arrogantly assumptive; I definitely felt unknown projections being imposed upon me. I wont be returning for that reason as it feels as though the individual who was mixing my food is untrustworthy, somehow. Another staff member was overly familiar. It all felt odd and off.
Staff and service was exceptionally good and we enjoyed the food very much. However, the atmosphere ruined the whole experience. It was a hot day and their AC was broken. Suggest for owners to try dining in their restaurant with this heat without AC. Its a greenhouse and its torture for the employees! We felt so much better when we left the restaurant. Considering our total bill for 2 person came up to $90+, this is not an acceptable experience.
We went 2 evenings running because this place is so good. Food is amazing and the staff are great.
An oasis of healthy food! And it s super yummy. Had beet salad and tempeh tacos. The salad would have been enough for one person so next time I ll order only one thing on the menue. That said it was still great.
Smoothies here are incredible!
I adore this restaurant - hands down my favorite place to eat and I m not even vegan. I order from here a couple times a week. My favorites are the dal and the rising sun bowl, but I ve never had a bad meal here. Every dish is flavorful and filling. I have a dairy intolerance and an epic sweet tooth, so I love the cheesecakes here too - the coconut lime is heavenly. Highly, highly recommend.
Great little restaurant just outside the downtown core so it gets missed by many visitors. They have a great selection of locally sourced foods & beverages, including some amazing desserts!
Great staff, amazing food I m so happy. Drinks were fab, starters and entrees were fab dessert was FAB! Highly recommend for anyone and especially celiac or vegan folks. Dietary restrictions: Celiac and vegan friendly
Great atmosphere Knowledgable waitress. Super tastes fair and wine list. Vegetarian options: The MAC and cheese was actually MAC and delicious slightly crunchy cashew butter. My bowl was spicy Thia with an out of this world blueberry chutney Recommended dishes Pesto Bowl, Mac & Cheese
What a scam! I purchased their Macaroni Bowl for $21.00. After going and picking up my meal and taking it home, I noticed a 50¢ charge on my bill listed as To Go. (They also charged me tax on the 50¢). For one little cardboard box and asking for my meal to go, they added this To Go charge on my bill and never said a word. Not a single word! Had I ate in the restaurant they would have had to wash a plate, the cutlery, a beverage glass and clean the table. It shall be my last time going to Be Love, how sneaky of them. We shall be going to Meet On Blanschard in the future. There are other options out there. May I suggest to all others reading this review Meet on Blanschard and Green Cuisine have some very nice food choices in Victoria. Word of caution to customers - Check your bill, evidently this restaurant is not quite as honest as you may assume. Yes, they may be a head 50¢, but they have just lost a customer.
My first experience at this fine restaurant. Would highly recommend it.
I just had the most amazing experience at Be Love. The BBQ tempeh sandwich was amazing and staff super helpful. Dietary restrictions: All gf
We ll be back! Food and service were amazing. In the picture Meze, must try!
Fantastic food + drinks, great value for money
We had an outstanding dinner (Spring Burger and Quesadilla) this evening at Be Love. It tasted as good as it looks, and the people were really friendly!
Food was overpoweringly flavored and off-balance, e.g. the tacos were carefully constructed out of many tasty ingredients, but then the seitans seasoning overpowered everything else to the point of not being very good. An odd dining experience.
One of my favourites Victoria restaurants
Gluten free and celiac safe with great options and amazing staff. A highlight of our restaurants for our trip to the island.
Dietary restrictions: Everything we tried was delicious, gluten-free and vegan. A gem that is hard to find. Food
Outstanding experience all around, a must stop for vegans visiting Victoria. We had to come by two days in a row. Vegetarian options: Everything is vegan and gluten free Dietary restrictions: Everything is vegan and gluten free
The food was on point and the cockatils delish! Ive been trying to find a great comfort food spot thats veggie and this is so it!
Our go to place for vegetarian food when we are in Victoria. Cosy setting and staff is always helpful.
Although Im not vegan, every meal Ive had at be love has 100% hit the spot and wowd me! great service, lovely atmosphere...perfect go-to restaurant if you have a group of friends with a variety of dietary needs (or not!). PS do you sell your orange hot sauce? its unreal.
I had the Masoor Dal Bowl - it was deliciously spicy and filling. I will definitely return to try some other dishes on their winter menu.
Loved the wall art and music and general vibe. Mac and cheese was SO good. Server was very helpful and friendly and attentive. One of the smoothies definitely needs some reworking though (shilijat, cacao, espresso, fig one). Vegetarian options: Vegan and locally sourced if possible, BUT uses honey in many drinks. The honey is locally sourced from a small farmer and sounds like its ethically handled/farmed.
Loved the veggie options and mostly all the fresh juices they make! :) We tried four diff dishes including the burger which was very yum! Will definitely be back!
Healthy food presented beautifully, and it s delicious! The people who work at Be Love are friendly and the place has a nice atmosphere. The deserts are so tasty too
Enjoyed the green bowl and wellness toddy! Great place for a hearty lunch!
Delicious food and super friendly staff!! Macaroni is amazing!! Love the house hot sauce too! I d buy it! Only bummer is tight seating but what can ya do! Dietary restrictions: Entirely GF
Amazing service. The way they greet the customers is just beyond amazing. The food is tasty and tasted good. Would be visiting again.
Cute ambiance. Yummy gluten-free food. So many GF options - the entire menu!! Vegetarian options: Fully vegetarian and vegan Dietary restrictions: Fully gluten-free
I went yesterday to pick up something allergy-safe to go while on a day trip to Victoria. The man at the till immediately pulled out the allergy binder when I asked about ingredients, and I was also able to order without a veggie I didnt want included. Slight mishap when they didnt notice my food was ready and I had to ask about it (even though there were only a few customers there), but the mac n cheese was AMAZING. My kid and husband tried some and we wish we knew how to make it at home, it was so perfect - creamy and cheesy and delicious. Dietary restrictions: Cant have dairy or eggs, nor certain chemicals common in convenience foods and sauces. The fresh-made meal with safe ingredients was wonderful.
A favorite for sure. The Elixirs are great non alc choices and more non alc choices would be welcome. Tasty and healthy food.
Delicious. Tea was amazing.
Wonderful food. Cant wait to come back.
If there is one good thing you do in Victoria is to come here and have their green curry. The only thing is that as an ex manager at a few restaurants, it doesnt look good when the staff is on the bar top chit chatting instead of making sure people have water Food
Come here a lot and all of their dishes are well executed with many beautiful taste and texture combinations in even what youd think to just be bowl. Next level quality and always engaging staff that make the experience a joy. Highly recommend for vegans and food lovers of all tastes. Vegetarian options: Fully vegan Dietary restrictions: Gluten free!
Not a fan of their desserts but some their food is good Really healthy and great works of art But just a very expensive menu... Food : 3/5 |
I paid our bill and added 10% tip(our waiter was it because of the service only 10%) not going back
The place was pretty cool, nice decor and good vibe. The layout feels a little squished and grid-like. I was immediately met with the smell of warm dish water when I walked in, but the far table was clear of the smell. In terms of the food, its 95% vegan with some vegetarian options available. I got the BBQ tempeh sandwich. Im not the biggest fan of tempeh but they made it pretty well. The super green smoothie was great, just the right amount of sweetness and loaded with healthy ingredients. Our server seemed to be having an off day so I dont feel right harshing the service. She was saying the right things, checking on us, etc. but felt very spaced out and annoyed. Overall, Id recommend giving it a try if you like plant based foods. Vegetarian options: Mostly Vegan (95% according to their menu) with a couple vegetarian options sprinkled in.
Absolutely incredible food! This restaurant serves only plant based meals, mostly from local suppliers. If you want to try plant based food that isnt just raw salad bowls or pizza with nutritional yeast this is the place. My partner is a carnivore and usually opts for a big chunk of meat and yet he still raves about the food here. Someone in the kitchen really knows what theyre doing, every single ingredient is intentional and adds to the dish, the flavours are very well balanced, everything is seasoned well and rounded by an intentional variety of textures of the ingredients. The menus are very creative and seasonal and even the drinks are so good they really stand out. Definitely try the root beer they make, its heavenly. I also noticed that they offer a variety of gluten free beers! This is a wonderful spot for a dinner date and for the experience we got I feel like it was a bargain even with a 25% tip. Kudos to the whole team! A true gem! Big love to the service staff too, very kind and attentive!
I had a 3 sisters soup of the day that was really good
If you re a foodie, this place is a must! The meals are beautiful, delicious and Mary gives excellent service! I crave this place Vegetarian options: Delicious veggie options!! Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating
Charming space, lovely staff! Loved the green curry bowl and chai tea. The thoughtful menu and quality ingredients made this a stand out experience.
Friendly service, delicious and adventurous entrees, super healthy and tasty drinks and desserts too! Vegetarian options: Awesome to have this special vegetarian/vegan place right here in Victoria!
I was looking for a vegan restaurant where the food actually tastes good and WOW. I got the winter burger with roasted potatoes and also ordered the Mac. Both are so packed with flavour and big portions. I m in Victoria for work and this will easily be my go to for food.
Be Love used to be my favourite restaurant to dine in or pick up a wonderful meal & deserts, especially after lock down when only takeout was allowed. Up until recently I would have given them 5 stars but a recent interaction with one of the staff changed this. Early October I did a take out of 2 main courses & deserts - exchanges were pleasant, I paid & left a gratuity & left. The next week I had time before an appointment & wanted a sit down meal. I alerted the hostess of my time limitations, sat in the front section which was vacant & no one on the patio. 6 tables were occupied at the back. I chatted briefly with hostess, perused menu & made my choices. I waited a bit & came to the conclusion that with a 20 minute period between taking my order & eating it I would not have time to make my appointment. I got up, approached hostess to advise her I would have to leave & if I had the chance to speak after that point would have mentioned I would come back for take out & also purchase some treats as I was leaving. She raised her voice & accused me of giving her attitude & wanting preferential treatment & that I had only been there for 2 minutes. Never even asked that. So weird. Then she went on to accuse me of being a habitual troublemaker, again weird as my only 2 interactions with her were the aforementioned takeout & this one. She then advised me I was no longer welcome & in a tone that meant the contrary to have a nice day. To say I was shocked is putting it mildly. I took some time to process & a few days later emailed them. 2 months later & no reply. If they were short staffed or unable to meet my timeline all she had to do was let me know. Plain & simple. Is it not the responsibility of the hostess to advise servers that some has a time crunch so they can at least take their order? I was recently at another restaurant this weekend & asked server if I would have enough time & not only did he mention this to kitchen staff he checked back periodically to let me know of the status of my order. I do miss Be Love but under the circumstances am hesitant to return. I hope no one else has to experience this. I hope this was merely someone having a bad day, but even so, no one deserves this kind of experience.
Concise menu, but big flavours. The vegan mac and cheese is out of this world. Very elegant presentation and plating too. Highly recommend!
Really great tasting food, the mushroom burger was especially delectable, as was the green bowl. Yummy yum yum.
Simply awesome.
I would have got a better picture but I was having my brunch here. Highly recommended for anyone particularly those enjoying vegan diet
The best seasonal vegan eats.
We waltzed up at 530 without reservation and they bent over backwards to make it work. On top of that we had a little one that they also accommodated. Great food and service. Would come back again.
organic plant based food is top tier - the smoothies are delicious too!
Food, service is good. Portions are what you expect for the price. Beautiful airy, contemporary decor. Lunch was very busy and the restaurant can feel crowded. Despite the full house, noise levels were low and conversations were audible. Highly recommended for vegetarians.
Very healthy, very delicious vegan cafe! Vegetarian options: Fully vegan Dietary restrictions: Fully vegan
We came here as a date dinner and it was perfect! The tables were really close to each other but it made the atmosphere really cosy and magical. Beautiful restaurant and attentive service. We ordered the soup of the day that was delicious and their tacos, the sauce was good. We also ordered the green bowl which was good but nothing too out of the norm and a little bit bland. Their pickled vegetables are homemade and one of the best I have ever tried. Their cheesecake was to die for. I love the idea of having a seasonal menu as you can tell the produce is fresh.
Every time I come to Victoria I will try something new, I tried green bowl and 2% jazz coffee, I like them!
Up until 3/4 months ago I would ve said hands down this was the best place to have dinner in Victoria. The last 3 times I have been there I have been greeted with mediocre service at best. This last time in particular, we waited nearly an hour for a reservation we made. While we were understanding of that and waited, no one offered us a beverage or water. When we got sat- my friend has a severe allergy and it was like pulling teeth to try and get help as to what she could safely eat. The server was being very abrupt and not helpful. After ordering we then got our food and the item we asked to be modified so we could all share it, wasn t modified, and we got a sorry while it was placed down, and the server walked away. Not once we re we offered something else, and the meal didn t even get comped. Even though she couldn t eat it. This server has delivered poor, unfriendly service multiple times to our tables of friendly 4 people many times now, and I will not be returning. The vibe has changed from welcoming to unfriendly. Too bad be love.
Excellent cocktails, beautiful, modern and dim ambiance. Reservations seem pretty necessary during prime time. We had a spring roll appetizer which was absolutely out of this world, and had some bowls for main dishes which were great. Very filling, delicious, well seasoned food. The service was friendly and helpful. This was an excellent dining experience full stop, and as far as vegan restaurants go this is amongst the best Ive had anywhere.
Seriously delicious. We were there early and the place was quiet, so the service was excellent. The food was outstanding, especially the gluten free bread on the sandwich and the Mezze in particular. I thought the tacos lacked a little punch and would have liked a touch more flair or flavour in them, but that in no way detracts from a well deserved five star vegan lunch. The roast potatoes were so perfect too. Yum! Excited to take my family when they visit.
Be Love seems to be a favourite for many but it didn t do it for us. We had the Spring Burger, the Farmer s Market salad, the Fasolia bowl, and the Springtide roll. While I do appreciate vegan that isn t trying to be non-vegan food, the flavours were one dimensional. The prices did feel quite steep for the portion sizes but that is the cost of doing business these days and I m happy to support small local business!
Stopped by for some lunchtime soup and was not disappointed!! This gem of a restaurant in downtown offers extraordinary vegetarian meals I m not a vegetarian but I d gladly eat here any day! The soup of the day on our visit was Potato Leek soup and it was hearty, filling, and so delicious. Definitely a spot worth coming back to! A worthy mention - lovely staff that prioritize a comfortable dining experience above all. Thanks for the great meal!
Food was disappointing, smelled very fishy and the service wasn t good. A disappointment.
Hands down, most inventive and delicious gluten-free, plant-based restaurant yet, and with a beautiful warm and chic ambience. There were so many incredible options to try, so this place will be at the very top of my list with every future visit to Victoria! Excellent variety of elixirs and cocktails, loved the Bon-Boocha. The sunchoke salad was the perfect balance of texture, flavor and healthy goodness and paired wonderfully with the buckwheat sourdough rosemary focaccia with a side of cashew cheese. We came here while traveling with our 2 and 3 year old and while the vibe of this place is more sophisticated than where I d typically bring kiddos, the staff were all very friendly and welcoming of our kiddos (even if they weren t on their best behavior ).
Fabulous & fresh vegan food.
Fresh, tasty, and healthy. I loved my meal here. It s difficult to choose what dish to eat, they all sound great, but o had the brown bean bowl, OUTSTANDING.
You will not be disappointed with anything off the menu at be love. It is my favourite place to eat out at. This restaurant is consistently delicious and has a warm sit down atmosphere that is perfect for a date or a beautiful meal with your friends. Even if you aren t vegan, you are missing out by not exploring their menu.
Some of the best food I have ever eaten.
Delicious and wonderful for a celiac person!
Excellent Customer service. Took us in 15 minutes before our 630 appointment. The waitress was very friendly and kind. The food were amazingly plated. The smoothies were a treat. However I didn t appreciate the spring burger and the sandwich we ordered. The bread and the veggie patty and tempeh were too dry for our liking. The buns were too crumbly, dry and dense. My excitement for coming back here went down. Im pretty sure their other menu selections are tasty.
Always enjoyable.
The Mezze app was excellent, the grilled pita added a depth of flavour to the dish. However, the nachos were disappointing - theyre served cold with heavy chips. Our app didnt take long to arrive, although our mains took quite some time to arrive (15-25 minutes). Otherwise a positive experience with kind servers. Would like to try dessert but was too full from dinner. Thank you for the good vibes! Vegetarian options: Excerpt choices, whole menu is vegan!
Phenomenal is truly an understated, unbelievably amazing food and service!
My partner and I really enjoyed our dishes! They have a bunch of creative cocktails as well. The seating can be quite tight if youre eating in, we were practically sitting at a table with other people lol!!
I had the chili. Wow good.
This place was marked vegetarian on Google Maps, but its most definitely vegan. I found it harder to eat here with a sesame allergy than I expected, but the mac n cheese (with a modification) and smoothie were both really good and surprisingly filling. Service was extremely slow, but they were very apologetic. Dietary restrictions: vegan menu. Probably not the best place for those with tree nut allergies, especially if highly allergic to cashews.
Many vegan restaurants simply take unhealthy American dishes and veganize them, so that they are just as unhealthy. Not this place. Their food is plant-based, healthy, creative, and absolutely delicious. It s like entertainment for your mouth! Excellent food. Great service. Wish this restaurant were near where we live. Will be back the next time we visit Victoria. Dietary restrictions: Completely plant-based menu
I was introduced to Be Love on Blanshard about 4 years ago by a vegan friend. At that time, I had a memorable spinach salad but did not think much of this restaurant. I revisited it for lunch on June 16 with my husband and a friend, who is a regular customer. This time, I noticed that the place is very pleasant, bright, cheerful, tastefully furnished, exuding wholesomeness. Although busy, it was not noisy, and the soft background music added to the enjoyable atmosphere. Our waitress brought us water and took our order promptly. However, we were hungry and it seemed we waited a long time for our food. Our friend ordered Mac - brown rice macaroni with coconut cashew sauce, broccoli, mushrooms, walnuts. I saw around me that servings are generous, so I ordered half a bowl of Karma - brown rice, sauerkraut, barbecue tempeh, miso ginger sauce, and my husband had a wrap (I don t remember the name) with roasted cauliflower, potatoes and greens, we also had a tasty cup of borscht soup. Even though I am not vegan, I am a vegetarian who loves cheese, I was pleasantly surprised at how good vegan food can be. We enjoyed every bite of our dishes. To top it off we shared a delicious, silky, lemon vanilla cheese cake made with cashews, and a divine chocolate cake. We highly recommend it to anyone interested in tasty, wholesome, nourishing, and satisfying vegan food.
The seasonal menu idea is wonderful. I had a taste of the gnocci and it was delicious. My main meal was the chickpea and cauliflower wrap with their daily soup, and had the Bombucha to drink. Ended it with their lavender cheesecake :) Couldve had a bit better service, kinda slow but I get it. Would 100% go back again :) food left me feeling good and whole
Bad service. No-one to greet us. When a server finally came - the server did not seat us we had to ask to be seated . We then had to ask for a menu . Once we got our meal 4 staff from kitchen moved into the dining area and sat across from us while we ate. We were checked on once but later had to walk to their table to them ask for service? Food was dry and overpriced. I will not be back.
Delicious food. Creative menu by a gifted and enthusiastic chef. Lovely service. Definitely one to visit again and again.
This place is lovely but likely too far out of price range for anything but an occasion. I took my partner here for a birthday dinner it was 90$ with tip. We got non alcoholic drinks and one dish each. The food was excellent and our sever was lovely. It s just too expensive for anything but a big moment.
Doh! I didnt take a second to take photos. So youll have to take my word that the Mac and the Kati Roll were amazing. I was really impressed with how well balanced these dishes were and they paired with each other really nicely as well.
This is clearly the cool vegan spot in Victoria, but it ended up being my least favorite (and most expensive) food over the 6 days I spent eating vegan in the city. The servers were all prompt, very nice and cheerful. But there were several awkward aspects of the restaurant that could be easily fixed to make it great. Im tall for a woman, but still found the chairs too low/tables too high to eat comfortably. I ordered a juice and a K bowl. The juice came with a spoon, rather than a metal or glass straw. There was no real need for the spoon, it just meant I had to take it out and dirty the table, or hold it as I drank. I was excited about the bowl, as it had some amazing flavours, but it came with each element arranged separately and jammed into such a small bowl that it was impossible for me to mix in order to distribute the sauce or ingredients properly. The tempeh needed to be marinated for longer and with more oil, it was extremely dry - even for tempeh. In a bigger bowl and properly mixed, this would have been delicious. I ordered the BC cake as the other reviews raved about the desserts, and it was one of the worst vegan cakes Ive ever had. The chocolate cake was dense and flavourless, as was the icing. I persevered with it for a while, thinking my taste buds were just still recovering from the gochujang, but it was truly just flavourless. I know vegan cake can be so much better than this. Overall, disappointing, but with some small changes this place could be great!
I had ordered takeout so I cant judge the service from inside the restaurants. On the other hand it is the first time that I receive a boxing so well presented! The springtide roll is crazy, hearty for the price and perfect balance between flavors and melting and crispy consistency in the mouth! The mac when to him is a killer! its perfectly rich, exquisite flavors with lots of vegetables and nuts, perfectly seasoned too! I recommend this restaurant!
I wish I could give more starts! This is easily one of the best Meals I have ever eaten and it was plant based and vegan. I wish they had a cookbook. We ordered two appetizers ( Nori Fresh roll and Tacos) and has the seasonal gnocchi and the spinach Roti and split the chai cheesecake. Each item was great. The roti and the tacos were so soft and chewy that I wondered how they could be gluten free. Please make a cookbook!!! Vegetarian options: Amazing options that tasted great and were flavored to perfection Dietary restrictions: 100% plant based and Gluten Free.
Would recommend the green bowl or Moong dal ( my fav )
Fantastic tasting food by any measure. Its a bonus that it is gluten free and vegan. Dietary restrictions: Everything is gluten free
One of the best place in Victoria to visit with your loved ones. Definitely recommend it and will visit it again.
It was so good! I was obsessed with my Mac bowl and the whiskey kombucha sour. The other food we got was great too, especially the moong dal. Excellent service, lovely ambience. We got panna cotta and chocolate cake for dessert. The panna cotta was amazing, the chocolate cake was more like a chocolate bar then cake. Vegetarian options: Scrumptious, well-priced vegan fare.
We had the best experience the food is amazing and the area is lovely,
Ordered a rice bowl and it barely had any flavour.
Well Ive ordered from them many times. Food is delicious and healthy. However last order (the Green bowl) I found a clump of 2 human hairs deep in my food. Both hairs had roots still attached. Surely if the employees are all wearing hairnets that wont happen.
Wonderful experience! The food was delicious and healthy. It was nice to know that the ingredients were local and the chef paid close attention to plating, the photos don t do justice. Our server was also very friendly and struck up a convo with us also which felt so wholesome!
100% gluten free restaurant and the combinations of flavours and ingredients were amazing - you would never know you were missing meat - I love meat but if I could eat this every day I could easily be vegetarian. The max and cheese, green curry and enchiladas dishes were all great and we had the summertime roll which was also very tasty! Can t wait to come back! Dietary restrictions: 100% gluten free
Superb, nourishing food, lovely service, delightful ambience. Attention to detail to flavors and presentation. Dedicated GF, DF, vegan, hooray! They make their own cheeses, milks, desserts, and they are phenomenal! Dont miss the medicinal fudge, it is a religious experience!
The Mac bowl was healthy and delicious, as was the juice I got. Friendly staff, thanks!
This has been my BEST meal in Victoria so far. Our family came in to celebrate mama bear s birthday and we were not disappointed! Every item we ordered was so fresh, with unique flavours and good serving size. Highly recommend their Mac n Cheese, Mezze platter & Tempeh sandwich. Also, kudos to the server for being light hearted, friendly and helping us narrow down what to order. (Wish I had asked your name, sorry) Vegetarian options: Vegan and gluten free options
Amazing food! A must!
This is my third time here and while its expensive (what restaurant isnt currently!?!), the food is consistent good. There is no way on earth I can make vegetarian cuisine taste as good as these folks do...
In one word: wow! It was so good! What a pleasant surprise! We had 2 different types of kombucha, the vegan enchiladas and vegan Mac n cheese. It was the best dish I ever had. Also, it was my friends birthday and I asked for a surprise on her plate and they put a candle on it. She was really surprised, thanks again!
Favourite Place in Victoria for a Healthy Vegan meal
Amazing local and vegetarian food. Great service and vibe.
The most enjoyable GF meal Ive had in a long time. It was a nice surprise finding out the whole menu is gluten-free, and the food was amazing. I got it delivered and the sourdough buckwheat focaccia was not only toasted (big bonus for GF), but it was still warm, and fresh! I do wish it had a stronger sourdough flavour but it was so, so, good. The mac was delicious, super savoury and full of veggies and nuts--I did not miss dairy cheese at all. The box it came in looked small but it was stuffed full and ended up being a lot of food. It felt a little pricey for some bread and macaroni, but with my dietary restrictions, the quality, and amazing flavour it was definitely worth it. I cant wait to eat here in person one day and try other dishes. Dietary restrictions: Very high confidence in GF offerings (everything on the menu is GF and I did not react to anything I ate and Im Celiac)
One of the best restaurants in Victoria.
Delicious plant based food. Too many delicious options to choose from. I cant wait to return and try more of the menu. Food : 5/5
Very nice restaurant, food is tasty and service is good. Everything here is vegan. Homemade kombucha and local ciders are a nice touch; wines are super expensive, Im not sure why. Extensive use of nuts so if you have severe allergies I wouldnt recommend. Vegetarian options: This is a vegan restaurant.
Vegetarian options: Love all the vegetarian options and make great smoothies! Food
love it here. had some of the best vegan mac n cheese i ve ever had. the customer service is laid back and comfortable while the atmosphere is really upscale. So glad i went.
If you want to feel good, eat here. Good experience, tastes great but super healthy. Dietary restrictions: Celiac friendly
Very suitable for people with celiac disease, well done!
Just great. You can see and taste Love. Jasmine Tea and Green Bowl. I was looking for warming food and service. Result is always also part of what you bring with. Vegetarian options: Looks and taste like high quality
WOW, what an incredible experience we recently had. Delicious drinks to start. I had the carrot/beet and Im still trying to recreate it myself at home. Fabulous! Then we had our dinners, some with delectable soup, others had bowls that we all tried, and I shared my excellent burger too. The ketchup is fantastic. Portions are generous without being too much. Their desserts always impress. The creamy, rich matcha cheesecake was out of this world. What makes all this delicious food so tasty is their excellent staff and kind owner. Well be back again VERY soon. Thank you BE LOVE. We really feel it... Vegetarian options: this is a 100% vegan restaurant Dietary restrictions: Staff checked in to make sure they knew of any allergies.
Truly delicious vegan food, I had the Mac bowl and was offered in house hot sauce which was SO GOOD. Great atmosphere and setting, staff were awesome, service super speedy. Highly recommend. Vegetarian options: Everything is veggie/vegan Dietary restrictions: Lots of gf options
Everything I tried, the 3 times in a week that I went there, was amazing!!!
Amazingly Delicious! And as a bonus, everything is gluten free, dairy, free, free of processed sugar, and I think its all vegan
Great service, and great food
I love how a lot of the components in the meal are house made. If you don t like vegan food, you probably won t appreciate this restaurant as much. I like vegan food and found this to be some of the best vegan food I ve ever had. Even the side salad was tasty! Excellent matcha latte and kombucha elixir. I really enjoyed my ZLT order. I especially appreciated the key lime cheesecake at the end. Will be going back for sure!
True vegan food experience with lovely service !
Got their poke bowl and it was marinated melon sooo much throughout I got a salt burn on my tongue and couldnt eat even half of it. Then I was eating the seed cracker thing and found fibers of some sort baked into it.
Been vegetarian for 30+ years and vegan for 6....traveled to and ate in almost every major centre in North America and the ZLT was probably the best thing Ive ever eaten!
Be Love has been my favorite restaurant since the first time we travelled to Victoria in 2016. To this day I still dream of the cauliflower wings which I ate often when I was pregnant a few years ago! Every spring/fall I get excited for their house-made gnocchi and dumplings. Drool worthy. The ambiance is perfect for a special night out with your partner. I love the extremely tall ceilings and homemade bar. They truly put so much into their food and always have. I love that they do seasonal menus and also have features from time to time. They use local produce and put a magical touch on each dish. Always a pleasure. Thanks Be Love.
The food is just exceptional. Local, organic, super tasty, and carefully seasoned with wild herbs. Also the natural wines are fantastic. Last but not least: great service!
Wow! Stopped in for lunch and everything we had was scrumptious. Will be back for sure!
Wonderful interesting vegan food! Vegetarian options: So many choices!
be love offers a soul & belly nourishing food. It was a our first time at be love and enjoyed their colorful, healthy and delicious food. Banh Mi sandwich was distinct with special in-house soy meat and Poke bowl. Amazing ambience and friendly staff :)
We were so blown away by the dinner we had here its hard not to use expletives. Fresh, comforting, delicious. Natural wines from BC! We ate here with a 1 year old and did just fine. Vegetarian options: 100% plant based gluten and plant free menu Dietary restrictions: 100% plant based gluten and plant free menu
food quality average and menu does not reflect correct ingredients expensive
Lovely service team at Be Love. The restaurant offers a fun environment with a fancier feel. Amazing smoothies on the menu, and dinner options okay! The presentation of the seasonal gnocchi was tremendous.
Excellent food experience!
Interesting experience. The summer roll is very pretty but is a very messy eat. I thought it would hold like those Vietnamese salad roll... boy, was I wrong in that. Had I knew the sauce would be everywhere, I would ask for utensils as none was provided. The medicinal fudge sort of worried me because the ingredient states medicinal mushrooms... which was left very open-ended to interpretation. I didnt think its psychedelic shrooms and I feared because I was on a business lunch with 7 other coworkers; the last thing I need is to trip out and be sent home. I wasnt seeing anything wrong with ingestion but Id hope they would not just say medicinal mushrooms and clarify the specific ingredient which could be Chaga, Lions Mane, or Reishi I could think off hand but will never know. Reading past menus, I find the current summer menu very limiting. I hope to try again when hopefully they bring their former dishes back as they sound way more appealing. Vegetarian options: Everything on the menu is vegetarian. If youre looking for meat, poultry, or seafood... this is definitely the wrong place! Parking: Street parking if available or your best bet is use Broughton St parkade and hope for first hour free stall availability. Otherwise standard parking rates apply.
The Mac.....best dish ever! Pasta, vegetables, crushed nuts......a heavenly dish. I had the wellness toddy to drink. Turmeric, pepper, ginger, lemon, camu camu honey and echinacea. It was a spicy warm hug in a mug. I loved it.
This place is absolutely amazing. I m not even vegan and my mind is blown. I ordered the fresh pressed green juice, the green curry bowl and the orange chocolate cheesecake. Unreal I will be back, probably within the next week! Take my money!!
Love, love, love this place!!!!
Glad I finally made it! First timer. Loved all of it. Nice atmosphere, friendly and attentive service. Had turmeric latte w house made oat-milk, green ginger juice, sabzi bowl w side of cashew cheese and pumpkin square! Fresh, healthy and beautifully presented. Thank you!
Just outside of main downtown is this full on vegan on trend restaurant. Really popular and booking is advised. We managed to get seats at the bar at short notice but all main tables were taken. Menu consists of varying influences but all were fresh, seasonal and mostly organic ingredients. Wine is also organic and there is a decent choice. The Encilladas are recommended though cheese is obviously of the cashew variety. Green curry was fine but lacked a mix of textures, hence the 4 not 5 star rating. All the food was very flavoursome and the atmosphere and ambience was excellent. Reasonably priced and great service.
Time vampires
Snazzy room. Friendly service. 100% gluten free which our celiac friends were very grateful for.
We went to Be Love for my birthday dinner and I was absolutely blown away by every single dish, the ambiance, the music, the service What an amazing experience and exquisitely delicious food. Nirvana ! Vegetarian options: Delicious and plentiful - what a menu! It was hard to decide I ve heard so much about the food I didn t know what to get! Dietary restrictions: 95 percent Plant based, celiac, dairy free deliciousness in every dish. I am gob smacked at the genius in the food served.
Really good dinner!
Great date night with very good vegan food
BEST healthy place in Victoria. My favourite spot for nurturing meals and drinks. The quality is unbeatable. Incredible every time. The best of the best!
Awesome vegan and celiac friendly restaurant.
Im not a fan of vegan food but this restaurant was very good
