Came here for a Thanksgiving dinner with family and enjoyed both the food and service. The atmosphere is modern and very clean. I had the steak and frites; delicious. My family enjoyed their entrees as well. The dessert were amazing and if I could eat them all, I would. Highly recommend this place.
Great atmosphere for casual drinks. Half of the restaurant setting like a bar, low armchairs with small tables. The food was good except the mussels in the Bouillabaisse may not at their freshest status. The portion however is very generous and the waitress was kind enough to ask the kitchen to split the food to two plates and at half portion, the size is adequate for a normal meal. At the same time we ordered Grill octopus as appetizer and it tasted great but at $24 price tag, we only got with one leg. I would say that was too small portion for the price. So we have mixed feelings about whether this is a restaurant we should be eager to visit again.
Yes! We'll definitely come back! Drinks are stupendous and, of course, the food, too.
LOVED this place and highly recommend!!! My date and I showed up on a Friday around 8pm without reservations. The second we stepped in the door, we were greeted and sat down at a table of our choosing. The waiter was extremely kind, friendly, and had amazing energy! He made the best suggestion to order the Halibut and Duck so we did. The food tasted AMAZING and was presented very well! This restaurant is located a little further from the center of downtown, so it's a little more quiet of an atmosphere.
We dined here for a Mother’s Day brunch and it was delightful. Friendly service, delicious food, and strong drinks. I knocked off a few points because knowledge of the wine list / taste characteristics seemed rather lacking (I had to return a glass of wine, which I HATE to do) but that wouldn’t keep me from coming back. There’s a fun mix of restaurant, lounge, and bar seating. Recommend for a cozy family dinner, drinks with friends, and anything in between.
Good French-Italian restaurant. The decor is clean and modern, and our food was delicious. I had one of the better Ceasar Salads I've had recently, and the rest of the food was equally good. The only downside was the service was slow, not disastrously so, but there were uncomfortable delays between courses.
Enjoyed the lunch experience with a large group over a milestone birthday party. Place wss not too busy for Saturday lunch. Hostess let the group settle in.. took good care even though short staffed. Complimentary starter bread and oil was good. Had the Rye Manhattan for cocktail.. appetizers included calamari, bruschetta and GRATIN D'AUBERGINE. Mains included beet salad, house salad, CAPELLINI LA POMME D'OR, Sole, chicken.. overall flavorful food. Missed dessert on lunch menu.
Delicious food, attentive service, and generous portions! The focaccia came out warm and freshly baked. We ordered 3 appetizers, 3 entrees, and 1 dessert. The arancini and Caesar salad were the favorites of the apps. Really great tasting Caesar dressing! My parents loved their branzino and bouillabaisse. I was pleased to see quite a few vegetarian friendly options. The Pollo d’Angelo pasta is so delicious. The sherry wine cream sauce is flavorful without being overly rich. They happily accommodated my request to have the chicken on the side. The profiteroles filled with vanilla bean gelato were the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. The pastry puffs were nice and warm, which complimented the ice cream filling. My mom doesn’t like chocolate sauce, so requested it on the side and they also gave us a side of berry sauce as requested. Service is very professional and our server was really lovely. Tonight they even had live music from the Mirage Band which added nice ambiance to dinner. Looking forward to enjoying another meal there!
Dinner at La Fontaine on Broadway in WC last night, and it is always wonderful! Terrific ambience, friendly staff, delicious food and Chef Hassan always makes sure everyone is happy with their experience. It s one of our favorite places to go for a night out. If you have been, you know what I m talking about. If you haven t, try it! You won t be disappointed. Thank you La Fontaine and Chef Hassan!
I hosted my future daughter in law s bridal shower at La Fontaine today. Chef Hasan was wonderful to work with and promt to reply to emails. The food was excellent and the staff was exceptional, professional, kind, and provided wonderful service. I highly recommend hosted an event here.
Food not great at all! Lack flavor.
Great Italian food not to mention live music!
The food and service are amazing. Beet salad is wonderful Drinks great Service just like Vegas Food : 5/5 |
We were there for a wedding rehearsal dinner. Food was great as well as the service & atmosphere. The staff made it fun for us!!
everything was fantastic. service was amazing and the owner was super kind and knowledgeable about the menu. food was SOOO good. the seafood pasta was to die for. better than sf restuants and super fresh
A lovely spot. Perfect for a casual date night. Delicious food and very kind attentive staff.
Best food easy provide service best service
We recently dined at La Fontaine, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. Nestled in Walnut Creek, this charming restaurant ambiance set the stage for a wonderful evening. Upon entering, we were greeted by Maham (who was not only the host, but the bartender and waitress) . Maham and the rest of the staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, fun to interact and created a vibrant fun atmosphere throughout the meal. The cocktails recommended by Maham was mesmerizing not only in looks but taste. We opted for the Two for $125 menu (two app, two entree and two desserts). If you have to choose, go for the Crab Cakes and Asparagus Soup. We had one person with a no salt diet, but even with this, the food was excellent. The Beef Wellington was cooked to perfection (we asked for Medium Rare and the Chef nailed it) The Crusted Lamb Chops had a good toasted pistachio taste and the lamb meat was not gamey. And of course, the Steak and Fries was very good although we prefer the Beef Wellington. As for desserts, Ill say the Chef is an Excellent Chef but not a Pastry Chef. Still the desserts was good way to finish the meal.
Impressive! Absolutely delicious and impeccably decorated. Food was so damn tasty and service was very welcoming. Theres a beautiful lounge and bar area great for casual drinks or snacks. Perfect place for a romantic rendezvous or business meal. I would not hesitate to recommend it!
We celebrated my son s 50th and I am not the type to write reviews but I feel that this restaurant deserves to be found. It receives all the 5 stars in the rating to include service, food, and environment. This is truly a hidden gem for Walnut Creek. Reasonable prices, great food, and live music (acoustic). This is the perfect place to celebrate any occasion. The chef/owner came out to greet us all and made sure we were satisfied with the outcome. They serve octopus that is out of this world and the best beef Wellington in the Bay Area, and lastly chicken cordon bleu. Take my word for a memorable time.
Live music only contributed to it being too loud. Took almost 25 minutes to get our cocktails. Canned beets on the burrata. Caesar salad could have used more than 4 Romain leaves for the price. My short ribs were a disgusting stringy pile of meat - with a weird tomato sauce on top with a minuscule dollop of polenta, undercooked cold cauliflower and broccoli and a couple of green beans underneath. My three dining partner s meals were also mediocre, mushroom ravioli with a described thin pasta shell was very doughy and almost tasteless. A Chilean sea bass special supposed to served with fagalzonze and grilled asparagus had made be 3 1/2 spears of asparagus but mostly c carrots. A lobster and spinach fettuccini dish smelled fishy and was mostly clams. Was at least 20 mins in between the salad and main course and our glasses of wine were given to another table so waited quite awhile for them to arrive. At 9:00 the live music packed up and the DJ started. Signs to me of a restaurant failing and trying to become a nightclub to survive. Dinner cost 400+ Won t be back
Food is great very delicious , very attentive staff. Music was very soothing. Not loud still could enjoy and carry conversation. I ordered pollo de Angelo was very tasty and my husband ordered oyster Will go back always. Food
The staff is friendly and the food is a 10 out of 10. It was my girlfriend s birthday and trust me when I say: perfect environment, quality food, and the owner/chef is remarkable. Don t miss the experience.
Great place. Tasty food. Perfect service. Coming back and bringing friends.
Had a rare kid free date night here. Food was great. I had the pistachio crusted lamb. Brilliant. Wife had the pomodoro with shrimp. We both loved it. Cocktails were great. They had a nice two piece band playing that didnt overwhelm the room but simply enhanced the vibe. Service was impeccable. We will return for another date night for sure!
Great place if you plan on having a great date
We celebrated my daughters 18th birthday here, with 22 people, and I cant say enough wonderful things about everyone and the food at La Fontaine. Setting up the dinner, planning the menu for the evening, the food, the service was all top notch!!! Everyone was so nice and welcoming! The atmosphere was beautiful and fun! And the food was delicious! I know everyone in our party wants to come back. I highly recommend this place. I want to thank everyone working on January 20, 2024!!! You were all amazing and sweet!!! I highly recommend this restaurant, if you want great food, wonderful service, and beautiful atmosphere!! Parking: There is a parking lot across the street. Its paid parking but thats to be expected in Walnut Creek, CA
I ordered the BURGUNDY BRAISED SHORT RIBS and it was fantastic. They said it was their best dish. My mom got the chicken and it was only okay. If you go there get the short rips or seafood. As an appetizer get the grilled octopus.
Wonderfully delicious food! Ambience was perfect for a rainy evening, entire staff super attentive! Hard to choose from a list of great food options, will definitely be back for more!
What a wonderful dinner and restaurant plus a beautiful lounge bar area with delicious cocktails & a great wine list. We had a wonderful server. I wish I could remember his name, Arancini, appetizer, and Baratta style fresh mozzarella appetizer were so good. We all loved our main courses, including chicken, Cordon Bleu, two different pasta, dishes and short ribs. Everything was cooked in order, and we were never left for wanting anything, our server was so attentive. Parking: Great parking garage across the street that we were lucky enough to find street parking, metered
I had a fantastic birthday here. The food was yummy, the service was lovely, and I really liked the atmosphere.
Ordered appetizer - Arnacini , main course - pollo d angelo and Gnocchi . The complementary bread is too good. Arcini dish has only three rice balls for the exorbitant price . Pollo D Angelo was a stunner ; yummy sauce in the pasta . Big let down was Gnocchi which was tasteless and it felt like eating raw flour .
Fun new Italian experience for us, good food, good service, nice ambiance
The ravioli is to die for but their desserts are not great. The creme brulee was overcooked and I wouldnt recommend
Nice little restaurant and bar in downtown Walnut Creek. Good food, nothing too fancy Dessert looked like a winner but we were too full. Food
Everything was bland. Appetizers and crab cakes were over fried with shell pieces. Husband s short ribs were over braised or sous-vide and had odd mushy texture with bland sauce. Brazzino was thin, bland and ok edible but who puts fish with cold mashed potatoes and veg was crunchy. Waitress wasn t very attentive. Offered a complimentary dessert but we declined. They did kindly comp the short ribs though. Looking through all the reviews of the past year it s interesting to note that the menu hasn t changed AT ALL.
Very good place to go.
This was a great restaurant the food was actually really delicious. The service was excellent and the price was on par. If youre looking for something good to eat I would recommend this place
We got scammed ! We went to celebrate my friend s birthday and got a bottle a wine for 50$. The waiter massed up and brought the wrong bottle for 155$. No one noticed and we drank it. The bottles had very similar names. Pio Cesare Barolo and Pio Cesare Barela. So it was easy to mixed up. When we got the bill we were very surprised but they refused to reduce the bill. The waiter said that he would have to pay for the wine from his own salary. We asked to speak to the owner but he refused to talk to us. It was unacceptable to let the waiter pay from his own salary so we decided to take it in and pay for the whole bill even though it wasn t our mistake. It feels like a scam as they might have done it on purpose. We will never go back!
We had a fabulous time dinning at the La Fontaine!!!! The food is EXTREMELY delicious and we absolutely loved it. The octopus, pistachio goat cheese crostini, orechiatte, and duck breast are amazing! Definitely can t miss the dessert. This is the place to go if you are looking for a casual setting with a fine dinning execution in cuisines. Not to mention - excellent service!! Wish we live closer so we can come every night!
The overpriced risotto is just rice with sea food, pasta is very average. The substance they bring to you to dip bread into is not even olive oil. Place looks nice though.
La Fontaine brings the charm and flavors of classic French cuisine to the heart of the city. With its elegant ambiance, attentive service, and a menu filled with traditional French dishes, La Fontaine offers a delightful dining experience for those seeking a taste of France.
Our new favorite spot for dinner. Every meal weve tried so far (4 times) has been immaculate and delicious. From the Cordon Bleu, to the Beef Wellington, or multiple fish dishes, we love it. French cooking at its finest, though Im not the best critic in that area. I just know its delicious! It seems this place is not well known yet, so its also great if you need a last minute option and dont want to wait. Although not on the main restaurant thoroughfare, its only a short block over, and is right across from a huge parking garage. Hope you love it as much as we do!
Great restaurant. Love it!
Not much to say just a mediocre dinner! Food & service was ok & no plans to returning nor recommending to others!
Had a great experience at La Fontaine with the Moveable Feast Group. Cocktails were beautiful and delicious and the appetizers were unusual and tasty. Nice atmosphere with parking across street in the City garage. Parking: Across the street in City garage
Great food, service and atmosphere.
Went here after getting a recommendation from a friend and was not impressed. I expected a $52 beef Wellington to be more than an undercooked filet wrapped in puff pastry (no duxelle? No prosciutto?). I wouldnt say anything we are was bad, just uninspired and slightly disappointing for the price.
Food was delicious. We had pasta and gnocchi and everything was really tasty and good. Service was great too
Dude, how do u you mess up pasta? Literally $25 Ragu. Chef is the owner, had success in Mountain View, opened up new shop in Walnut Creek, thinks rich old white people will pay for this stuff. And yes I am white too. I want the business to do well, so I say these things to help them. There isn t even art on the walls, it s empty. Music way too low. It s like a library in there. The beet salad had very little walnuts or cheese. Why? The arugula was not anything special. Alice waters would be petrified of the quality of tomato s on the bruschetta, it was almost pico de gallo. Please fix!
Exceptional service and food. Great place to celebrate a birthday. The pasta and seafood were cooked perfectly. I highly recommend the Bouillabaisse.
Fairly new restaurant in WC... a great addition. Food was really good, well presented (loved their plates) and the staff attentive. Not many people there so hope they make it... it is a restaurant you want to go back to!
Great food & service. I had the Steak Frittes with mushrooms sauce.
My girlfriends and I went here tonight for a valentines date. The food was absolutely incredible , and the ambiance was so much fun. I cant wait to go back and try more dishes and wine.
Very!, Very Gooood! I got 2 orders of the Beef Wellington. Wow! My first time trying it. Well prepared, & great service!
This is a wonderful new addition to the restaurant scene in Walnut Creek. The food is absolutely terrific. Everything we had was very well prepared and presented. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. Had a nice and unique cocktail. Wine list is adequate. We had a combination of dishes from the regular menu and from the specials. All were equally good. Walnut Creek has very few restaurants where you can really count on a truly excellent dining experience, but this is one. We were there on a mid-week night and there were relatively few patrons, so we hope that that will be as successful here as they are in Mountain View where they have been operating for nine years.
Ate here on a Saturday night (3/5:22), nice location, nice menu, and nice restaurant. All staff appeared to be new, little to no experience. The host was swamped and had no assistance, and finally seated us. The table bread was doughy (undercooked), the entree duck was not cooked as requested, the sea bass dish was lackluster and did not arrive as requested, nor did the truffle fries I ordered as a sub for the truffle mash potatoes. The bar provides generous pours, a reason to dine at the bar . The menu is superb, restaurant great, and wait staff can be trained up. Get rid of the Chef, send that person back to Bakers Square, Marie Callendars, Black Bear or wherever the hell this person came from, Six Flags?
Not much space to park but the food was good. FYI crowds of 8+ have to pay 20% gratuity.Other than that great food and great service.
Great food and wonderful service.
Food very good, service good, but very slow
Appetizer took 50 minutes and arrived cold! Food took another 15 minutes and one of the two dishes was also cold! Poorly coordinated restaurant.
Ugh.... dont even get me started!
It was Fathers Day. I was looking for place not to noisy and had wanted to try La Fontaine for a while. I made an online reservation and when we entered we were greeted immediately but a cheerful beautiful young woman who courteously seated us to the place we indicated that we preferred. Our waiter, Sedat was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and attended to us perfectly, while I reminisced with him about my time in his home country. I ordered a vodka on the rocks with a splash of soda and a lime. 9 times out of ten when I order that I get a vodka soda not a vodka with a splash. This time it was perfect. To start we ordered the Spinach Gnocchi with mushroom cream truffle sauce. The Gnocchi were cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious. My wife had the spinach ravioli with pesto. It also was perfect. Then I had the Orecchiette with smoked bacon, green peas, fresh tomato, garlic and olive oil. It was cooked perfectly but if I were making this dish (this is not a complaint just a preference...I am a chef also) I would use more tomato and less bacon. They have done a beautiful job on the interior giving a nice ambience and its a good place for families. One more compliment to Sedat. You made it a pleasure.
Beautiful dining room, excellent service and the food was YUMMY!
Very tasty food, great service!
Nice ambience, service, and food.
The food here is incredible. We will definitely be back to try more dishes! The pistachio crusted lamb was by far the best lamb Ive ever had.
The food was amazing, the truffle gnocchi was so so good. As a Parisian, I m so picky and this place is top notch. I also really loved that they use eco friendly boxes for leftovers
Great service - waitress was always smiling and responded to requests quickly. Food was delicious. We had beet salad, pistachio crusted goat cheese, grilled octopus, bouillabaisse, grilled branzino, and truffled ravioli at our table. Everything was delicious. And the music with live singer was a lovely enhancement. Music was enjoyable yet not so loud we couldn t talk. Great addition to Walnut Creek restaurant scene.
Amazing food. Great Service!
Visited only once and we didnt really order much, actually had them split it for me and my wife. Foods good so far, not disappointed at all. Service not much you can ask for, which os good. We were able to have a taste of two different wines before we picked. Oh, they do charge $1.50 for splitting our steak into two plates. I think maybe its just fair so no ding for that (maybe a tad little, because other places dont charge for that). It wasnt a busy time when we went so yhe place felt somewhat empty (there were maybe two or three more tables occupied) so was wondering how it is during busy times, but then maybe we wouldnt have gone. Would we come back? Maybe. I wouldnt seek it but would be ok if we went there again.
Great service, great selection of well prepared entrés, great presentation. Unfortunately over priced and limited wine selection. Their wine pricing takes them from a regular dining to special occasion dining experience. I highly recommend for special occasions!
Good food, though nothing really that tells me Ill have to come back to try something else on the menu. Great service for sure
Date night. Good food and service. Appetizers good, salad good and main meal good the disappointment came with dessert.
nice place for eating
Delicious food. Highly impressed with the beef Wellington, the ravioli, the branzini dish were highlights! My parents who were visiting out of town loved the food. And on Friday, there was music as well. It was such a pleasant visit.
The foods and drinks are good. Service is excellent.
Service was pretty slow. Slow to get food ordered when we were maybe 4th party in the restaurant not too crowded at the time. Slow to get the check. Food was excellent!
Enjoyed the large menu and great service. Agerage age was +50 Not busy at all on a Thursday night
Great food! One of the best restaurants in WC.
Today was our third visit to the restaurant because we recalled liking their food on our last visits. We made a reservation for 2 at 6:15 and arrived on time. The Restaurant was 60% empty. The Hostess showed us table connected to Kitchen. We request another table and she refused to seat us in the area where there were plenty of 4 tops saying they were reserved. Instead she said our only other option was by the hostess stand and front door. Within the next 15 minutes she sat another 3 tables of two at the four tops that we requested . I asked the hostess the reason and she said her manager directed her to fill with reserved customers in bad (kitchen/entrance) tables and give other tables for future customers. It is smart move for manager but not nice to customer. We will go other restaurants in the future.
Found this gem one Saturday and have been back several times since. Perfect lounge for a glass or cocktail, nibbles too. Lunch was delish*****. Not your traditional french menu but highly recommend. Looking forward to trying dinner .
Amazing service and food. Staff went above and beyond to serve me and my family. I will definitely go back again!
I loved the food it was a professional clean and lovely environment. The quality was amazing! Definitely would recommend
My boyfriend and I started trying a new restaurant every weekend. This restaurant made us not want to try any other one. EVERYTHING was sooo good! Super authentic and beautiful ambiance and presentation. Were definitely cheating the new tradition and coming back here! Thank you so much
One of the flavorful restaurants, bars in the most incredible areas; Walnut creek and Mountain View. Very professional services and attention to every guest. Outstanding service!
Finally got to try this place out and it did not disappoint. Had the beet salad to start, real fresh tasting very good start. Truffle was a reoccurring thing for us. My wife had the Mushroom truffle ravioli. And I had the beef wellington, that was incredible. I have to say the staff was pleasant and helpful. Just a real treat. I will go back for sure.
This place has the chops to be fantastic. Food is clean and service is great! We got the specials tonight, but dont let the name fool you, it is more Italian than french. Owner needs to figure out what they want to do. It would be 5/5 stars if the menu was per their name and area of France. Other than that really good.
Fantastic. A long needed quality restaurant that Walnut Creek needed.
