Grandma's Beach Treats is locally owned and operated and aims to WOW all visitors with our awesome customer service. We are a full-service ice cream shop, open year-around, as well as a small bakery creating homemade "award winning" butter tarts, banana bread, meat pies, sausage rolls, homemade soups, square & cookie platters and soooo much more! It all started with our gourmet handmade caramel popcorn and our products have grown to include 20+ popcorn flavours, homemade fudge, hand-crafted espresso drinks, coffee, loose-leaf teas and a great selection of local and unique gift items which we often build into creative and fun gift baskets. I'm so lucky to have stumbled upon Grandma's Beach Treats at the Butter Tarts Festival at the Old Mill today. I bought the 6-pack sampler ($18) and devoured the Maple Bacon and Raisin at home. WOW in one word. This is the OG. The real deal. Absolutely phenomenal, buttery crust and the gooey filling is delicious as heck.
My husband and I love black forest cake. Over the years we found the cakes to be lacking love and good quality ingredients. For my birthday yesterday, my husband brought home a black forest cake from Grandma's bakery. LOVE in a box!!! The cherries are cooked not from a can. The whipped cream is perfect not super sweet and soft. The chocolate cake ooohhh my! Rich and smooth and .... chocolatey. I appreciate them asking him about the extra ingredients (I don't care for). Even with some slices gone the cake felt heavy as I put it in the fridge. Eating it was so light and super delicious. I don't know how he came across this bakery. In my opinion it's wonderful. Great place to stop while out in the Wasaga beach area. Great ice cream and their butter tarts are delicious. Of course, there is also fudge, kettle corn and other goodies. Spots outside to enjoy your treats. Parking available. A small gem full of yummy treats.
This is a great option if you're in this area near Beach 3. They have plenty of options (hand scooped, yogurt, soft serve) & prices are good. I had a signature sundae upgraded with hand scooped ice cream. It was loaded with Reese cups & peanut sauce (a bit salty) - it was well worth it! Make sure to ring the bell on the way out!
We went there after moving up the road, and at first I was skeptic all about coming in, I figured for 30$ it’s gonna be expensive and not as good, but I was wrong the ice cream was low key kinda amazing my girlfriend loved the peanut butter one and I bought a spider man beanie babie for cheap, the store girls were chill and friendly, and I didn’t mind it what so ever, would likely come back when it’s hotter out, a lot of deserrt to choose from

The team has created a lovely little sweet shop that has become a must do in the tiny beach community of Wasaga. Wasaga attracts visitors by the hundreds and thousands every year – for the love of the giant vast expanse of beautiful white sandy beaches that the town has become famous for. While you are there, grab some snacks at Grandma’s Beach Treats, or some of their amazing gifts. They have all of the beach treats and vacation sweets you are looking for. Here, you can get ice cream, fudge, candy corn, caramel corn, brownies, cotton candy, and of course their famous award winning butter tarts. They also have an assortment of Savoury food items on the menu as well. You can order custom items for your parties or events: cakes, ice cream cakes, cookies. We came here for the first time several years ago after discovering them at the Ontario’s best butter tart Festival where they were one of the many exhibitors. During the peak season of summer, this place is always packed, especially on the weekends and the hottest days of the year as visitors flock there for an ice cream treat. However they are open year round, so you can make a sweet roguetrip to Wasaga Beach any time of the year and get the sweet treats you crave.
The flavours of ice cream are delicious, and I loved all the little treats you could get as well. Always rang the bell whenever we left because everyone was so friendly and the atmosphere was great. Our boys LOVED their free ice cream too! Definitely recommend and will certainly be back the next time we come to Wasaga.
Grandma's Beach Treats is the BEST ice cream store in Wasaga Beach! I make sure to end my trip with a sweet treat from here every year when I visit Wasaga Beach. The staff are all so lovely! And there's WAY more than just ice cream, any goodie you can think of, Grandma's has it! The butter tarts are award winning and I could spend all day trying each of the many fudge flavours! Plus the name game each day is super fun.. Every day they pick a new name and that person gets a free treat!

WHOA!!! Fantastic !! They recognized me immediately from last summer, had stocked my favorite ice cream flavour (how the heck did they remember that?!? ) and were exceptionally kind, courteous and friendly!! My ice cream was huge and fresh.. I bought 6 tarts to take home to my family too - raspberry coconut, pecan and raisin - and they were all AMAZING!!! BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! Ill see you again soon for that Creamy Orange!!

We ordered froyos and icecream. The guy making the froyos was inefficient and was unfriendly. He made us wait for a good few minutes and had an attitude. I would not suggest anyone visiting here. The lady at the counter was kind though.

Memories of always going there with my mom to have the Black Raspberry Thunder ice cream and they still sell it. The butter tarts are so delicious, the kind that make you close your eyes and savour the moment. The crust tastes like shortbread and each flavour is so wonderful with the perfect amount of goo. I went next door to their coffee and gift shop. Bought a set of Robert Bateman moose mugs, a barn owl travel mug, some bear socks and a vanilla latte. Excellent friendly staff which is why I support local business during my travels. You never get this kind of genuine service in the big city.

SHOULD HAVE NEVER GONE IN...HUNGRY I would love to work at this place. I would weigh twice what I do now. Purchased a coconut cream pie and some double chocolate cookies. Luckily, I didnt bring a fork, or the pie would have never made it home. This place is busy even in the off-season, but only because of the selection available to choose from. A must location to add to your itinerary whenever youre in the area.
You dont want to go here... HUNGRY. There are just way too many delicious treats available. I personally picked out a coconut cream pie and double chocolate cookies. I didnt want to leave the store. Lucky for me, they dont have in store dining, I would still be there. You must add Grandmas Beach Treats to your itinerary when in Wasaga Beach.
I used this store to send treats as a gift to a friend in Wasaga Beach. I am told that the treats are very tasty. I was even more impressed by the brilliant and very kind customer service by the team in the store. Immediately upon ordering I was contacted by email to check if Id like to send a card with my order and if so what Id like to say. I will order again.

If like me your dreamland is spelled as ice cream land then this is the right place for you. Their special ingredient is love But I guess you figured that, given the name Specialty: Ice-creams, tarts and Caramel Popcorn (We got some for our friends and the popcorn was so fresh that our friends they kept asking us for the name of the place) Every time we visit the beach we have a mandatory stop here. Pros: - Wide variety of flavours - Cutesy, friendly place - Parking space right out front - A souvenir shop right beside the place (Easy to distract kids while waiting for your order ) I guess the only con is it s not accessibility friendly meaning, there s no ramp to access the shop. And yes, no restrooms either. But goodness the ice cream cones should be renamed as cones of happiness and the vibes are super amazing! A must visit place! ~GoExplore

My kids and I biked over to Grandmas Beach Treats and got there almost half an hour after they closed - a very kind staff member was still there and was kind enough to get some ice cream for my kids! So grateful!

Very very yummy everything
We drove 20 minutes from Collingwood to get some of their desserts like butter tarts. The drive there was nice and the place was open late. The food tasted great and the prices were average. The place was very crowded when we got there late in the day but would recommend going if you are craving something sweet.
If you need a place to stop for popcorn, ice cream or anything snack related this is the place to go, staff is very friendly and prices and service are good

They have a nice patio and all manner of nice treats, softserve and of course ice-cream! I treated my fam (4people) to single scoops of their choice of ice cream (good variety of flavours to choose from) all for $20. Best $20 Ive spent in a while!

Tried the apple butterscotch butter tarts & the chocolate coconut fudge. The fudge was delish! Butter tarts are a bit pricy! Could have more filling and be a bit flakier.
It is a tradition for our family to visit whenever we are in town. Lots of great flavours. Good value.

The butter tarts really are as great as they claim! The ice cream was good, everyone was friendly and they seating outside was nice.
Would you be caught dead saying ANYTHING negative about yours or anyone elses Grandma for that matter??? Well, this place is no different! If ANYONE says otherwise you must have swallowed the lake water and its affected your thinking! From the heavenly smell of banana bread or what ever baked good has recently popped out of the oven! To its rare, amazing, wonderful staff that you could chat for hours with but cant without ticking off the dozens of others waiting to get their ice cream or other heavenly sweet treat! The secret has been out for a while so be patient if you get there and the line is out the door.... ITS WORTH THE WAIT!!! Now if I could figure out how to get them to autoship me a care package of goodies weekly Id be all set!!

Had some of their Butter tarts. They looked appetizing but as you eat them that changed. Severely underbaked. I do not know how they won awards for them. If you like very undercooked butter tarts you will like these, if not, do not buy them. Also barely any filling and it was extremely runny. Not worth the money

A pretty neat place to stop for ice cream and other treats. I asked an employee to choose 2 fudge squares for me as there were so many options. The ones I got were Raspberry Lemonade and Skor. Both were amazing and the Skor one has a brownie like taste to it, which I love. Kudos to the staff here, they were super kind and helpful. Would come again!

Wonderful ice cream frozen yogurt butter tarts and all sorts of goodies. They pick a name every day, and if you have that name, then you get free ice cream. My grandson got his last week.

Ice cream is the same everywhere. Thats the no brainer part. However, she handed me my hot fudge sundae and it was a melted sloppy mess. It got all over me and my car. Gross. You failed. Bye forever.

Not worth the wait
First off - secret menu suggestion - ask for a gourmet butter tart in the bottom of your ice cream cup. Delicious!! Very friendly servers guided us through other menu choices. Manny many ice cream concoctions available. Very cool little treat store as well. Thanks for the wonderful visit.

The portion was very generous but the quality was not super awesome. I had a two scoop ice cream Pistachio Almond and Butter Pecan. The Butter Pecan was nice but had large pieces of Pecan in it. Id prefer smaller portions of Pecan instead of large pieces. It will taste much better. The Pistachio Almond tasted very strange, it tasted very artificial. Not my type for sure.

Ive tried several of their treats, including the butter tart supreme sundae which is a favorite. Their selection of treats should accommodate any and all tastes, including gluten free.

Ice Cream was very liquid, and we did not really get what we asked for. My son wanted me to give a worst review. He became all messy because the ice cream melted so fast. It still tasted good though.
Had 2x double scoops on waffle, 2 frozen yogurtz, 1 pecan butter tart, and 1 Sunday. Service is great, speed is great, quality is decent. +1 for pandemic. No complaints.
3 stars for the loooooong wait to basically scoop ice cream and ice cream was mushy and melting when we got it - had to put the tub of happy birthday ice cream in the freezer for an hour. The tub of vanilla was basically a tub of Kawartha ice cream from the grocery store. However, added a star for great selection of flavours that my kids loved.

This was a delicious stop on our way to Beach Area #3. We received fabulous service and help here. And of course, we bought all kinds of goodies! Espresso coffee, ice cream, fudge and butter tarts. Everything tasted awesome!
Don t waste your time, go to Norm s next door and save yourself 45 minutes. Not sure what their issue is but they can t serve out ice cream any quicker than 30 minutes. We ve tried on multiple occasions, twice recently, and ended up getting our money back the second time because the wait was so long. They might be understaffed but honestly it shouldn t take that long to scoop an ice cream. Nothing against the kids that work there but management needs to get it together - it s embarrassing.
Then worst service ever. 4 workers and one order coming out every 5 minutes. Ridiculous ! Where is the supervisor?

Great spot near beach 3, always go for the soft serve ice cream and bring our dog with us to get a little treat as well. Would be great if they implemented a ordering system. There is always chaos at the pickup window (which I do find entertaining) but some patrons can be rude while waiting for their ice cream. A number or name system for ordering and pickup would make this place the best spot to hit up at the beach!
Fave butter tart was apple butterscotch. Love how the place looks too. My butter popcorn was a bit stale but overall really enjoyed trying the mint ice cream sundae with crushed peppermint.. really cool spot for everyone to try
What a great way to end the summer. We spent the labour day long weekend enjoying Beach 3 at Wasaga. On our way out we decided to stop for some ice cream. It was great! Many flavors to choose from, even dairy free options. There were other baked goods available for those who arent fans of ice cream! We will definately make this a new tradition when we visit the beach each summer!!
OMG Amazing! I had the buttertart sundae and it was SO GOOD! The staff were really nice and there was no wait (we went on a Friday night). Going to Grandma s was the perfect ending to our day! We will definitely be back soon!

I recall years ago they where soooo good, larger, more filling, fairly priced. Like so many things nowadays, not as good as they used to be. Grandma s is still worth the visit, the super tasty homemade banana bread almost makes up for any shortcomings of the tarts. :)
