Love the Beef Chow Fun and Char Siu Ramen. The decoration reminds me of modern Chinese high end restaurants interior in China. The fried scallop was great. The other good thing is the 15% discount.
Amazing food and an even better experience! My friends and I ordered the Seafood Ramen (spicy soup), the spicy crispy salmon roll, and takoyaki—everything was absolutely delicious and bursting with flavour. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting the Waterloo area and looking for fantastic food at a reasonable price. The customer service was warm and attentive, making us feel truly welcomed, and the cozy, inviting atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing meal. Will definitely be coming back again!
Now this is what a ramen spot should be like! The whole atmosphere of the building was wonderful land definitely seemed as though i was stepping into a fine dining restaurant. The service was impeccable, with very friendly attitudes and excellent service i was very pleased. It took about 10 minutes for our food to come out (two of their signature ramens) which is incredibly fast and i was amazed at the huge portions. The most shocking part of the whole experience is how after barely finishing the huge bowl of the best ramen i have ever had the total was less than the average burger combo at a fast food spot!!? I highly recommend as a spot to get top notch ramen with fantastic service and a delightful atmosphere!
Overall, it's a decent Asian restaurant with large tables, late hours, and reasonable prices, especially with the cash discount. We got a Combo B and a tendorous rib ramen for dinner, and both were pretty good. I liked the texture of the crispy salmon roll but the ratio of tempura crumbs to salmon was too high. The ramen had a lot of meat, but was otherwise just ok. However, the server took a while to check if we were ready to order considering the restaurant was not very busy. The view from the second floor is pretty nice too.
Always our favorite go-to asian resto and the foods are the best and not so expensive! I've tried other sushi rolls but their spicy crispy salmon roll is still the best for me!!! 💯💯💯
Good Korean fried chicken mount not your traditional style. Unagi dish had very little unagi, but my ramen was very filling. Not your traditional ramen though. The skewers didn’t seem grilled. I would come back.
My absolute favorite comfort food place for Asian cuisine! I absolutely love their sushi combo as you get so much food for such a great deal. I also love their fried rice and their curry chicken! It can get very very busy as it's usually visited by a lot of uni students so be mindful when coming during the busy hours as it can take a while to get your food. The atmosphere is very nice and I highly recommend people to eat here if on a budget and are looking for some great comfort food!
UPDATED FOR 2024: bumped to 4*, reasonable prices that have stayed pretty stable, and they give good portions of food. most dishes also come with miso soup. overall solid and also cool selection of dishes. I would recommend the bentos, sushi sets, or rice bowls. (old review from 2021): I have visited twice: The curry pork cutlet rice is good, but the batter does not stick well to the cutlet. The teriyaki chicken doesn't seem to have the soy saucey and sweet taste of teriyaki. The oyakodon (take out) had egg shells in it. The ramen is good. They provide half of a hard-boiled soy egg and some wood ear mushrooms. Overall good value for portion size and convenient place to dine, but dishes are okay-ish. The lemon water is nice.
Good food, but roaches everywhere. Ive gone twice, and both times have found cockroaches.
Basic Bento Boxes was what I was looking for and I got! for improvement no one really checked up on us it was difficult to get a takeout box
I come here so often and the food is always great. I m here at least once a week.
Fried rice was ok but ramen in soup was seriously good. Friendly servers
Cant really go wrong with Foodie Fruitie. There are so many options, the food is consistent and delicious, and the serving sizes are large for the prices. Staff are friendly and helpful as well.
A great restaurant. Amazing food and a great staff. Prices are very good aswell. Just over 30$ for 2 people
I ve been coming here since my grade 9 year in high school (I m now in my last year gr 12) not only have I never had a single negative experience, the food, the servers and everyone at foodie fruitie is so sweet and kind. I bring my friends my family and my boyfriend here all the time and they love it aswell. This is the best bang for your buck for food with giant portions that I hope never change and an amazing prize for amazing food. I love it here and I ll continue going here forever
Incredible place both for its food and the price we paid for it. I cannot wait to come back.
it s comfortably mid and cheap food, especially with cash discount. come with a large group for a decent meal and good vibes - the food will never blow you away but it s always good enough for a good time with some friends.
Very friendly and attentive. Would highly recommend
Awesome place to eat. Huge portions, and very quick service.
One of the best affordable eats in the city. May not be the greatest quality but appreciate the Asian menu variety, the speed of service, and the value (good portion sizes for what you pay). This is located on the second floor of the food court of Linden Square, so you might miss it. Parking is also hit or miss as it s below an entire (student) apartment complex. The washrooms are not attached to the restaurant but a little walk down the hall, and not well maintained. They only accept debit and cash, and will give a little discount (10% I think?) if paying by cash.
Amazing place and really cheap. best go to sushi place in kw
A university student quick and cost effective meal, but always tasty and consistent. Cant complain
Every time I order a dynamite roll I keep getting a California roll. It s been like 4 times. Also the sushi has way too much rice and the wait times can be long sometimes
Great place and great food! I ordered the avocado sushi, miso soup and chicken dumplings. All of them were delicious and the staff were very kind in modifying some of the dishes I wanted. 10/10
Authentic Asian cuisine at prices that are cheaper than nearby competition. The food is inconsistent. Sometimes, it is superb and other times it is meh. For instance, Ive ordered the vegetable fried rice 3 times now. The first time, it had plenty of veggies--bok choy and nappa, as well as little bits of tofu. The best veggie fried rice Ive ever had. The 2nd time, it had only rice and a tiny sprinkling of frozen peas/corn/carrots. (The veggies were hot, not frozen, but they looked exactly like what you get when you buy Green Giant frozen mixed veg at the supermarket). What a disappointment. The 3rd time, it had lots of 1-inch blocks of fried tofu, and a sprinkling of frozen peas/carrots. I liked it better when it had tofu AND greens. Weve had better success with the cripsy fried curry chicken with rice. It is very good. Sometimes, they pour the curry sauce on top of your chicken. Other times, they provide it on the side in a cup. The curry is very mild. The teriyaki chicken dish is very tasty, also. Given my mixed experience with the veggie fried rice, I think Ill be sticking to the teriyaki chicken donburi from now on. The teriyaki beef donburi is not your typical teriyaki beef. It looked and tasted like Cantonese beef and broccoli stir fry on white rice. It was tasty. It just wasnt teriyaki. Stay away from the oyakodon. It is meh. For a superb oyakodon, go to Momos, which is in the University Plaza, just a block away. I wouldnt say Foodie Fruitie has the absolute best Asian food, but the food is decent, and it does have the absolutely lowest price. They also give you a 15% discount if you follow them on instagram, so the price then goes even lower.
This was my second time there and the food is amazing i wish that they had a place in cambridge ontario i will be back for dinner again i had the crispy chicken cury with rice
food had an earwig in it, gross!
Food is great, the curry is wonderful. Portion sizes are great and prices are amazing. Service could use some improvement but overall really good!
Had a COCKROACH fall from the ceiling on our table disgusting. foods good but they don t bother checking up on you its hard to get their attention waited 25 minutes just to ask for a water refill.
Cheap and tasty
Great price to food ratio
Only gave one star because I cannot give 0 star
Decent food and prices. I don t really recommend their noodles but their curry dishes are okay! Great place for large gatherings.
One of the best Ramen dishes Ive ever had, the service was excellent and the management went above and beyond to accommodate us. Highly recommend Foodie Fruitie and I hope to go back soon!
My favorite stop for a quick and affordable dinner fix after a long, tiring day at work.
Worst place too much waiting time I have waited 30 mins and I order 1 hour before. Don t waste your time
Its always a foodie fruitie angle -M
Relatively inexpensive Asian food with good service, atmosphere and food
Love to dine in here with my friends or get takeout. Sometimes service can be really slow but that s when it s really busy. The bento boxes are great, so is the sushi snack combo and the curry chicken/pork. never disappoints!
Ordered online there is a COCKROACH in my ribs ramen soup. Saw it after finishing the noodles. Really gross me out and I ended up throwing up. This is the worst experience ever Dont go to this place if u DON T want roaches in your food
I recently dined in here and had a great experience. My friends and I, very much enjoy the food from this place. Great place to dine in, respectful staff and good crowd. Food is well worth the price which isn t very high either.
bts chicken nuget meal at astronomical price .. stephen milek cockroach incident never forget
The food is a hit or miss. Not fresh and sometimes service is quite slow. Good value for the price though and large portion sizes
Is a great place to hang out. Food is medicore and a bit expensive but the vibes are great and made a lot of memories here
Good spot for large parties Curry Fried Chicken w Rice is a W
I love this place! The portions are big, its cheap, and close to campus. I really like their sushi rolls (especially the Las Vegas roll and any of the Dragon rolls), they are very filling and tasty. I would also recommend the curry chicken or donburi. Food
every time i come here everyone is always very nice and the food is always amazing. i crave their food so often!! The prices are great as well, so it s easy to come often :)
Rip off. Have all these little signs everywhere with a million rules like no soup with take out . Take the charge out of the bill then and don t expect me to see some dingy sign
The food is good. The quantity is not big but the taste is great. The servers are also very polite. The atmosphere and the place setting is very relaxing.
There is no salad on my menu item that has a picture of a salad. Also there is no tea! The appetizer came last, unacceptable Wheelchair accessibility: I have to walk up 2 whole flights of stairs! What if I was in a wheelchair! I still wouldnt be able to drink tea anyway
Seafood ramen and octopus balls were good
Very comfortable experience.
Inflation and shrink flation. The price used to be lower and the portions used to be much larger. The takeout box is way smaller than the one they used to give.
I ordered the Curry ramen, literally tasted like water. Id have a better experience eating dry instant noodles without the seasoning.
Foodie is our go to for quick and tasty but not expensive meals. We ve always had good service and haven t had a bad dish.
The sushi combo special is very reasonable and tastes really good too. The place also looks really cozy and the service is great
Great variety in the menu with plenty of amazing dishes. The prices are very reasonable and the whole place has a very nice layout.
The food was delicious.
new menu best menu
Delicious and cheap
5 star for the food and service! but after knowing that the OWNER TAKES ALL OF THE TIP WE LEAVE FOR THE SERVER, is just low tier, selfish, irresponsible person Ive ever met. I found out when I was looking for changes/tip for the server, only to get told explicitly not to because the owner takes them all. Unbelievable. If you ever go to this restaurant, be careful what you do with that tip you are handing out.
Best place overall to eat in waterloo, great cost, portion sizes, food and atmosphere
Food is always good. Bbq eel fried rice is always my favourite. Service is usually fairly fast. Bubble tea is not good at all though. Go for the food, not the bubble tea.
I ordered on Fantuan requesting to have no peanuts in the food at all which includes PEANUT OIL ( the Resturant failed to recognize this) I was puking all night because of the peanut oil used and requested a refund because they gave me the wrong order but they declined it as they said they didn t put peanuts inside but my peanut allergy was triggered. NEVER BUYING FROM HERE AGAIN. Doesn t respect your allergies.
Honey dew bubble tea is the best and try Korean fried chicken
The food is okay, but waitress is too shy and speaks really really low, caused some misunderstanding, she also count the coin wrong, which is quite annoying.
I loved the vegetable fried udon here. Ellie did a really good job of serving us food.
Good price for the food :)
I used to come here. After today, I dont think I will. The service was horrible. After we were seated, we waited for 1 hour and werent brought water </3 or acknowledged while they continued to seat and take orders for many people that arrived after us. I get that today was Valentines day and its busy, but it was evident that the waiters were purposefully ignoring us in that we made eye contact multiple times and they rudely ignored us to the point where we were wondering if we had done something wrong. We ended up leaving and went to Kabob Shack where the service was lovely and we were finally able to rehydrate <3
Goated ramen with nice prices. Takeout takes forever tho $13.99 for Ramen with EXTRA noodles fills me up
Good food, generous portions, nice service.
I love coming to Foodie Fruitie. The prices and food are so worth the drive. I love the cheese wontons, scallops, torched sushi, soups and rice bowls. Ive been so many times and still havent tried everything yet.
Ordered a variety of dishes and they were all pretty good. Was pleasantly surprised
Great place to grab Japanese cuisine. The food was delicious and the portion sizes are large as well. It is the best bang for the buck Japanese cuisine place. I ordered the Octopus balls and Crab Salad both were amazing. The staff is very cordial as well.
Delicious and affordable, haven t been here in a while, but they ve kept everything the same!
I really like coming here not necessarily for like a large meal per se although they do have options for that, I enjoy buying like a bunch of apps or snacks to share with pals! Very affordable which is great for students especially LOL
Nice place and yummy Asian style food.
They ve definitely cheaped out on quality and portions
Great value and most of the food is good but certain items are really bad. The dumplings are worse than the frozen ones I get from Walmart and the miso soup tastes like nothing.
Both their dine in and take out is decent. The food tastes more modern and non-traditional. If you are looking for more authentic asian food this isnt for you but they offer a lot of variety, japanese, korean, chinese, and everything tastes fine
Food and drinks are so good from this location, sometimes they have issues with order mix-ups or mess ups from Uber eats or skip the dishes orders but the food is good!
Staff is super nice and patient!!!
Easily the best value food in the entire UW plaza with the lowest price inflation since Covid. The food is pretty good and portions are generous.
lady with glasses took away my tray because i was sitting on the table for too long. how disrespectful. i didnt even say i was finished. the lady with glasses shouldnt be serving. and the whole time they didnt even ask once how the food was. not one person customer service is garbo here.
Always good food and great value. Nothing is spectacular but in the end you get a tasty meal at a very good price. Not accepting credit cards is a bit of a miss but they do take debit in case you dont bring cash.. but cash will get you a nice discount, so best to bring some.
Food is great value for the price.
Food is absolutely not clean and fresh!!! We went there yesterday and we saw a cockroach chilling on a customer table. In addition, we saw at least three cockroaches walking in the sink when we went to pay the bill!!! Can t imagine that!!! In my perspective, I think food quality and safety are much higher than price and the fake decorations. Absolutely won t go there anymore. Don t go there
Last time me and my friends went to this restaurant the waiter let us to wait for 20 mins didn t come to serve us, after we done our order we are waiting for another 45 mins to get our food, so we tip 0$ in the end, not sure the name of the waiter, Asian, male, wearing glasses, very bad attitude.
The food was so delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. It was worth the wait.
Unofficial covered parking at the residential building basement level. Often opens until much later than other restaurants in the food court. Huge menu with a variety of Asian options, though it is mainly Chinese influenced. Service speed varies, sometimes theres a ton of students and you may wait awhile to pay (you can only pay at the front).
Hair in my food I m not sure how to include photos but I have them
I LOVE coming to this place when I am in town! Super cheap prices and good food. The wait staff is really nice and the menu has a lot of items to choose from. Ive come here +10 times and always enjoy the cheese wontons and the sushi combo! Highly highly recommend. The food comes out pretty fast too!
I would give a minus 1million if possible. Rude chef, want to fight me for their fault of being late for the takeout and brutal servants like without any education. Don t go here if you want to be treated with biases.
such good food for such a good deal! i got the teriyaki chicken bento box which had rice, miso soup, teriyaki chicken, shrimp tempura, deep fried yam and deep fried broccoli! the total for all 4 dishes we ordered amounted to $55 after we tipped! you can view their prices on their website and if you pay with cash, they offer a 10% discount. the employees were also nice, coming around to tables every once in a while to fill up water.
Pros: Tons of options, great prices, open pretty late, delicious food for most dishes. Cons: They run out of green tea a lot and its full often. Not all food is equally as good, some dishes are average.
It was good, fantastic portions and pricing, extremely polite servers, just dont forget your debit card or cash :)
Every-time I come here, I usually get the sushi house special with spicy crispy salmon roll and squid balls. The sushi pieces are tasty and very big compared to most restaurant. The squid balls are soft and chewy. One time I got the chicken pad thai and it was very sweet and flavorful. The sushi price is fairly affordable compared to most places and I highly recommend you try it.
Update: Quality and quantity of the dish significantly decreased: not filling! Ordered a cutlet udon and the cutlet shrunk in size because it was beaten to paper thin before frying it and camouflaging the thickness with flour. Service is so slow! 20 min wait on a udon? I can make one in 5 min at home. Still following the cash discount idea, honestly current times you need to evolve away from that. No free ice cream at all. (5 years ago was 4 stars review): Great asian food for a reasonable prices, a bit crowded during dinner time, sometimes youll have to share a table with someone else. Free ice cream at the end :) If you pay cash you get 5% off.
Food is great. You can get a combo with a sushi roll and appetizer for ~$11. Sushi rolls are huge, almost 1.5 size times your typical roll size. All portions here are quite large, typically good enough for one massive meal for one meal and a late night snack. Definitely worth the price and you get 5% off if you pay cash.
Big portion but food is okay. Go if u are broke student
Large menu with all items delivered to the table quickly. Food quality is excellent!
One of the best value places for late night sustenance, especially the curry chicken. Sometimes the dish to rice ratio is a bit off but its all good. The water here also tastes good
leftover rice and some curry man
lil bday brekky w the gang! great food at a great price + yummy boba. strong 8
Im a UWaterloo student and this is my GO TO spot for food with friends. They have a diverse menu with ramen, sushi and rice dishes like donburi and curry. Their sushi servings are massive and very aesthetic. Definitely the #1 place for students for high value+volume, cheap and tasty Asian fusion. As a heads up, they only take debit and cash, no credit!
Great prices especially with cash discount. Food taste good for the price and portions are large!
A diamond in the rough. Excellent food , reasonable prices and impressive view from the second floor windows. Definitely will return.
There was hair strand in food , they dont care about customers . Atmosphere is good though Food
Great variety of dishes, and all of them are well done.
Love this place, the prices are reasonable and seating is great
Good food and very affordable! And good service :)
nice
Affordable & filling!
Foodie is a bit of a gem in the UW area. It has quite a variety of Asian food to try and prices are very reasonable, especially for a restaurant with table service (compared to the many other take-out places in the UW plaza). Service is generally quick, and you can call ahead to order in advance if youd like. Overall, a great place to eat in Waterloo!
There is a large assortment of dishes to choose from at reasonable prices. My favourites are the eel fried rice or the pork belly skewers. I cant wait until dine-in is available again! I even got 10% off using cash with my LSIDISCOUNTS membership :)
I give the food 10/10. Th food is amazing and it has an resonalable priece. Will reconmand this to any who likes Asian cusin.
Good prices, food, and portions
Portion sizes were huge. I couldnt fit the sushi into my mouth. Overall good value for what you pay for.
Best sushi place in Waterloo no doubt, unbeatable quantity for the price and the taste is exceptional!
If youre used to Toronto you might be disappointed by the ramen, but I find it delicious and hearty - the only ramen in KW that tastes good, IMO. This food is the pinnacle of the price-taste-filling triangle and is the most cost-efficient way to feel satisfied. Pre covid, my partner and I would go here for dates all the time. Happy to finally be back!
Really great value food about $10 for a meal.
honestly one of the best asian places in waterloo you can find. the cost and portions great too.
food is a solid ok. portions are massive but arrives very quickly
New experience, quick service, not easy to find parking, inexpensive, nice people
This place has a very interesting menu. With the selection of noodles, sushi, snacks, and much more. There is a large variety of asian cuisines that is available but I feel like they are the definition of the saying the jack of all trades, [but the] master of none. Id say the food is alright (i guess the sushi was the best). I ate all my friends dishes and nothing really stood out. My noodles tasted like msg and the tempura was soft like a muffin. If you were to come here, it would not be because you crave the food but because you and your friends cannot decide on what to eat and everywhere else is closed during the late nights. But the service was great, they were very attentive and I enjoyed the lemon water.
I had never had sushi before this place, and I am now hooked. Their sushi is fantastic, awesome portion sizes and friendly service in a neat environment.
A little bit waiting for food, but tasted good!
Mango slush was very nice. Pork belly skewer was very nice. Pork bone soup style bbq ramen had too much bean sprout. The ramen only had the beansprout taste, but nothing else.
The main food is no-tasting, but the pork belly skewers and spring rolls are delicious, and the mango smoothie is really!!! Massiso!!!!! !!!!!
Worst restaurant in Waterloo that I ve been to. I was very disappointed with my experience.
The curry chicken cutlet on rice was good. Could have used a bit more curry and potatoes in my opinion. Portion was good. Brown sugar bubble tea was good but in my opinion the tapioca seemed stale.
Food prices are very affordable and good portions for what you get. Service is fast and friendly
I enjoy coming here because its relatively cheap and they give a lot of food!
Big asian waitor is the rudest guy I ever seen. Threw the menu on the table then look away, slab my food on the table. When he held the ice cream his palm touches it. Who hired this man should be fired along with him.
Good food, good prices. Ceiling was leaking water onto our table but otherwise a good experience
Decent price for the amount that you get. But quantity does not justify the quality. The taste is average I guess, nothing special. Only gripe is that the broth is very salty which makes it hard to finish a bowl and you can tell the noodles are not the best, okay to say the least. I ordered the beef kimchi ramen.
Normal
The teriyaki salmons always good , healthy option if youre always in the gym training
Best value for sushi in Waterloo Region. One of my favourite restaurants!
This place is great. Everything about it.The upper level dinning area, the cold pitchers of lemon water. The dishes are large portions, soup is amazing. Free ice cream dessert. Super quick service. Value and quality place.
You literally get what you pay for, the prices reflect the meal. Large portions, quality is 7/10 but nothing stands out or is amazing. Youu cant beaat $10 for a big ccombo meal especiall with the 10% If you have the discount card and pay in cash.
We ordered a few meals online through doordash, and unfortunately the doordash driver had to call us an hour after the order to tell us the restaurant hadnt started making the food yet. We called the restaurant to see whats up but there wasnt any good explanation and just said the food should be done soon. Still waiting an hour and a half later for it....hopefully the food is worth it.
Reasonably priced, but very mediocre food.
This was their veggie ramen.... no soup, just ramen noodles in a ton of oil and cheap vegetables. Probably the worst food I ve ever eaten in my life. Please stay away
The food is really good and they have a well priced lunch menu. I d recommend having the option to use a credit card rather than cash and debit only
Great prices and massive portions. They also have lots of space so I highly recommend it for large groups. Perfect for students celebrating or mourning after exams
Just ordered two bubble teas and they messed both up almost completely(not even tapioca in them). One was so bad that it was undrinkable. (Ordered 50% sweetness and recieved what seemed like 100%) It was pretty much syrup in a cup.
Ordered some sushi as a late night snack and was not at all disappointed! Portion sizes were big and great for the price, plus I got a free dessert thrown in with my order (Taro Coconut Milk with Sago). First time ordering from here and it wont be the last, Im very happy! :)
I really, really enjoyed my food from here and really appreciated being able to order bubble tea with my noodle bowl and sushi rolls however lately my orders get cancelled because pearls and or jelly is out of stock though the app doesnt reflect this, why?
this place is known to not have good quality food. the first time i tried it, i thought it was just a fluke. but the meat literally tastes like its made of plastic. its cheap though so you get what you pay for.
Ordered the pad thai, delivery, and was disgusted to find a bug in my food. Will not be returning.
not fresh
Excellent selection at an excellent price
Excellent value for money
Cheap okay food :)
Its a great place to hang out with friends and great seating areas. However, the food is pretty mediocre and not the best tasting. Although they sometimes give big portions, overall its not a place I would go often as theres many better places to eat in the area.
Can t decide where to eat? You come here, they have a little bit of everything from ramen, sushi, rice platters, skewers, bbt, udon, fried rice and more. You would imagine a place with a huge menu to be pretty bad but this place is able to make everything pretty good and reasonably priced for student budgets.
Very good food considering the price. I would highly recommend the crispy spicy salmon sushi as well as the chicken teriyaki skewers.
The combo meals with ramen are definitely worth it and come in big portions. Lots of rice, noodle, or sushi dishes to choose from and at reasonable prices. Love taking my friends here. Be mindful that they serve peanuts to every table so allergies may be an issue but overall really tasty food at a good price.
Hidden gem by UW! Ramen is fantastic. Sushi great as well. This little food court has a lot of authentic Chinese street food.
