Updated review. Revising down from 5 stars, unfortunately. Wed been going here for brunch for a few years and really enjoying it, but the last three times we went the service was not good. Each time we got seated promptly, but then were not visited by a server for between 20-30 minutes and the kitchen was very slow. Two times we rolled with it, but with kids, its tough to keep them from falling apart when it takes 50-60 mins to get food. The last time we walked out after sitting there for 25 minutes without having anyone visit our table. We started going to a new place. Same times of day, just as busy and were promptly seated, served and fed.

Lovely breakfast place service is always friendly. Call tell that bonds are really made between regulars and the servers and that is always such a wonderful thing to see

I had my first ever experience of this quaint restaurant today. When I ordered I got the chipotle chicken wrap and it was amazing! They made it extremely fast and EXTREMELY delicious. The drinks were great. I would definitely recommend grabbing a bit to eat here. The service was not so great however. I had a waitress by the name of Jennifer and she was awful. She was barely walking straight and almost spilled our drinks all over us. She reeked of alcohol and so did her breath. Maybe she was just hungover but i ve never seen someone quite like that. the other servers were wonderful and friendly however i don t quite understand how this girl got her job. Other than that i liked this restaurant however i wouldn t bat an eye at walking in if she was there.

My friend and I were in Waterloo for the day, saw this place and decided to grab a bite to eat. We walked in, stood beside the sign that instructed us to wait to be seated and were made to feel invisible for the next 15 minutes or so. The server continuously walked past us without so much as a greeting, eye contact or even the simplest acknowledgement that we were there. Realizing that our money obviously has no value to those that own and staff this restaurant, we walked out and went to a different spot that accommodated us in a less awkward manner. I ve never felt less welcomed at an establishment and will not be returning.

Came in the place was packed but we were still promptly served and food came out way faster than expected. Still didnt feel rushed though they kept the delicious coffee flowing.

On Sunday at 10:00, six adults in my group arrived for breakfast. There was a small crowd in the restaurant. The host was excellent. When seating us, he noticed that something on our table wasn t perfect, so he apologized and fixed it. The waitress was very personable and professional. Throughout our breakfast, everything was excellent. A few of the people in our group raved about the pan fried potatoes. We didn t have to ask for refills on our coffee. I watched the host as he sat other groups. He impressed me every time. He worked with an obvious passion. I later went to tell him personally at how impressed we were with the food and with the service. The Dearborn is now our favourite breakfast place.

I always judge a breakfast dinner by their potatoes... and Dearborns are the best!

Excellent breakfast/lunch place in Waterloo. Always busy in the mornings and weekends but the staff is friendly and efficient so you have a good chance to get a spot. The menu offers the standard breakfast fare with a few unique combinations and popular recommendations. The coffee tasted good and overall it was good value for money on a cold pre-spring day! Highly recommend next time you re looking for a classic breakfast joint in the region.

Oz for oz the best steak+eggs steak in the city. Always done to perfection, tender and juicy. Also friendly, great light, comfy seats, perfect temp, quiet, open, clean. Very simple spot but getd the job done a real hidden gem.

This place has barely changed. I hadnt gone since before the pandemic and Im happy to report this. The older woman server who works there is still serving. She is so incredibly efficient. She isnt bubbly or talkative but you get your food fast .. and she is on top of coffee and every other need. I deeply appreciate her. Ive never had anything but breakfast here but the meal is good, quick, and always lies within expectation of a decent diner breakfast. Their hashbrows are perfection for those who like light seasoning and good small crispy bits.

First time my boyfriend and I visited. We enjoyed ourselves. Friendly staff, fair prices, really yummy food. I had the Canadian eggs Benedict, probably the best hollandaise I ve ever tasted! My boyfriend enjoyed his burrito. My only complaint is I wish my poached eggs would ve been more runny, they were a bit on the hard side but just could ve been an off day. We ll definitely return!

This is the best breakfast place in town and it s not even close. Even when they are busy the service is top notch. The menu has everything you could ever want and is always prepared perfectly down to the scrambled eggs being perfectly cooked. The sausage snaps when you bite into it and the hash browns are perfection. There is no reason to ever try a different breakfast spot once you have eaten here. You will see.

They went above and beyond our expectations catering our parents 50th Wedding Anniversary. Every single guest raved about the food. Highly recommend using Dearborn Restaurant for catering and a restaurant to eat at.

I hesitate in writing a review for this gem of a restaurant, because of the potential problem of possibly having more people go there? This is a place that we have taken our kids. The food is first class. Granted that the menu might be slightly limited, but the flavours are other-worldly. The service is first class. Enjoy a simmering coffee while you wait. If you have kinds, be sure to remind them to select a lollipop. This place is superbly recommended.

We are having our weekly Business Networking International meeting at Dearborn every week. On November 16th, we had our first meeting and it was awesome. Eggs Benedict was amazing, great Hollandaise and perfectly cooked poached eggs. Service was perfect. The only thing lacking was the coffee, which was weak for my taste.

Parking: We had no issue getting a parking spot. The lot is quite large. Kid-friendliness: The staff was great with the group of kids we had. Almost 10 of them, and everyones order was spot on the money. Good place for a group. We will definitely be going back.

Good old school family diner atmosphere, food was fantastic. Loved the hash done on the flat top, which I always prefer to the deep fried ones. Also some really good, I believe, scratch made slaw. Portion size is generous.

Service is fast, food is great. Ive been here twice on weekends and have not had an issue getting a seat right away.

Food was really good the last time I went, and has consistently been that way over the years. I also believe theyre probably the closest place to the University that is open by 7am. Service was prompt, friendly, and excellent.

Came for lunch with some friends around noon and had plenty of space available. Server was friendly and attentive, checking up for coffee and water refills frequently and being very quick with orders. The food was delicious and even when they warned us that they were taking long to serve, they really didnt take that long. I loved the transparency and loved it even more that what they consider long is 20 minutes. Me and my friends loved EVERYTHING on every single plate except the French toast. Its on the eggy side so if you like that, great, otherwise, youve been warned. Vegetarian options: As long as you are a vegetarian who eats eggs and dairy, youll have no problem here. Although its a place that likes its canadian ham and sausage, it also has a veggie omellette and a veggie egg benedict. I ordered the latter and it was AMAZING and very filling!

Thick, REAL BACON! Huge portions, fair prices, super friendly staff, very clean establishment, and the coffee is actually delicious black (how I prefer) not the same ol same ol mediocre coffee as every other restaurant. I work in construction and this place has had a great reputation until now - Ive never been rushed out of here before whether it was busy or not, they didnt even offer coffee refill or a take out container. All four service staff watched me like a hawk for 10minutes after food was on the table then shoved the bill at me. Regular server wasnt there - Jeanette I believe is her name, wonderful lady. All young people serving today. Dont want to come back anymore. That was horrible, I felt like an inconvenient potentially bad customer who might run out and not pay the bill or something. Usually I tip handsomely, this time nothing. Sorry but rushing people through a meal isnt good customer service at a restaurant no matter what.

The best home fried potatoes and you can get them with onions and green peppers if you like them. Best breakfast in KW by far. Is highly recommended by me to family and friends.

We celebrated an event at Dearborn and had 30 people attend in the private room for dinner. Mike and his team served a delicious meal with good variety. Everyone was very happy with the meal, the venue and the chance to use the space to do some socializing. Mike abs his team were very attentive to all of our needs and went out of their way to ensure our get together was a big success. We would highly recommend Dearborn for a meeting or event !

Decided to have my mothers birthday party catered this year. We asked the Dearborn Restaurant to make a meal for us. Mike walked us through an excellent menu choice to create a wonderful birthday meal for our guests serving 12 of us. Everyone of our guests raved how good the meal was. We had Chicken and snitzle both fantastic, mashed potatoes, gravey vegetables and a Greek salad. Everything was delicious. We could not have asked for a better meal. Thank you very much for making this day extra special. Henry.

This is an amazing little gem. We love the breakfast here from the pancakes to the regular breakfast to the skillets. Everything is fresh, the staff is always so nice and pleasant and the food rocks.

Popular local diner. This is one of our regular breakfast haunts. All the usual breakfast standards plus some special options such as breakfast burritos and avocado toast, if you feel like branching out from bacon and eggs. Friendly service and hot coffee. Treat yourself after waiting in line at the ServiceOntario offices!

I went to this restaurant for the first time for lunch recently, food was great and the coffee was much better than most diners I have been to. I enjoyed the Greek salad, and it was nice to be able to get a pork skewer instead of chicken. Friendly server, food portion was good for the price, and everything was great.

No skimping what so ever. You receive what you order. Real ingredients, cut skillet potatoes with paprika not McCains home fries, real sausages not oversized links. Priced fairly considering the great taste quality.
