Great place and people and amazing food

Went for dinner this week and it was amazing. The food was great and the service was exceptional. Already planning our next visit

I get Mediterraneo family restaurant all the time. When I order or eat here I always get chicken souvlaki, rice, lemon potatoes, and of course their delicious Greek salad. Whenever I get Mediterraneo family restaurant I always like the food and service as everyone working there is awesome. Overall a great restaurant.

I come here anytime I crave any Greek food, they have a great menu with lots of options. I always order any of the apps, usually the chicken or pork souvlaki ! The staff is amazing, great service and food comes out prefect timing! If you re craving Greek you must try the Med! Kid-friendliness: My son always ask me to take him to the Med for the Greek ! He loves it so much !

I m fairly new to KW and I ve been on the hunt for a good Greek restaurant. I m very happy I found Mediterraneo. I am originally from Toronto GTA and always went to Greek Town on the Danforth when I was craving Greek food. This restaurant is top of my list of favourites now. It reminded me so much of the great family oriented Greek restaurants that used to exist on the Danforth. It brought back some great memories for me. The moment you walk into the restaurant you are transported to Greece. I love the decor and feel of the restaurant. Staff is nice and friendly. They provide great efficient service. Now, the food is absolutely delicious. I especially really enjoyed the Moussaka and the rice that came with the souvlaki dinner was so flavourful. Overall, loved it all!!!! This will definitely be my Greek spot on the regular. It will be yours too!!!

Hands down the best Greek Mediterranean food ever! I can t believe I didn t post this earlier. I have been coming here for years. The lunch and dinner options are always a hit! The staff super friendly and inviting!

The atmosphere is delightful. My only gripe is the tzatziki is a little too dilly for me (EDIT: Ive been informed theres no dill, it is probably the mint then, which Im also personally particular with haha), but thats 100% just about my personal taste, and its still good enough that it doesnt dissuade me from getting a gyro every time. It is a favourite of both my partner and myself.

The food was delicious. The service was a little slow. It took us 20 minutes to get our bills. But the delicious food more than made up for it. Highly recommend giving them a go.

Always messing up godamn orders

Delicious food, some great options for vegetarians. I will definitely be back when Im in the KW next! Vegetarian options: 2 solid vegetarian options on the main menu - spinach pie and veg moussaka

Food is excellent every time we come here and the staff are amazing. Best place for making everyone enjoy their meal and experience.

Have tried to order their lamb stew probably 10-15 times over the past year. 1/3rd of the time they don t answer their phone. The other 2/3rds they have either been out or didn t make it that day. Not sure why they have it on their menu. It was good when I was able to order it in 2022.

Can be crowded and a bit of a wait if you dont reserve a table but well worth the wait

Update: STILL a favorite and have recommended to many who raved about the experience once they went. We love the food (especially the calamari) and our youngest gets the spaghetti and loves it every time. Portions are great and the service has been fantastic. Really loving the vibe and atmosphere as well. Thank you and we will keep coming! Would recommend calling to give a heads up for larger parties. FIRST TIME REVIEW: Food is great! The calamari is delicious, the potatoes and gyro as well. The greeter was a bit annoyed when we came in as a family of five and when asked, said she d have to figure out where to put us. The place was empty, there were two other tables with patrons only. Other than that, the place is great and becoming a common place to come with the family.

Hazel was an amazing host for us during our last visit. She provided all the information and directions about the menu. She was the perfect waitress I had ever seen.

Tried this restaurant after driving past for years and regret not going in sooner! We got 2 souvlaki plates and Gyro plate. Portions were huge and the food was so good! Definitely adding this to the regular rotation!

Delicious food. Very nice atmosphere

Food was good but was disappointed when they didnt have menu items. They only have 4 cocktails and they didnt have ingredients for 2 of them. At the end of the meal we ordered Baklava and again they were out. Again food was great, we had the lamb souvlaki and it was great as were the lemon roasted potatoes and salad etc.

The place was amazing and the food and the portions was 10/10. Very reasonable prices for most of the dishes. The food was great specifically Santorini chicken and definitely recommend to anyone loves Greek food and music!

Cannot recommend this place enough. My favorite eatery in the kitchener-Waterloo area. You cant go wrong with the med platter but beware thats plenty of food! 3-4 people easily.

The best! The Mediterraneo was a pleasure to work with. They happily accommodated a large and slightly last minute order, and it was above our expectations. We had a late dinner on a Friday night. Service was quick and food was terrific. I had the lamb stew over rice which was very flavourful, lots of lamb and huge portion size. Ambiance was OK but lighting was too bright for dinner service. This place seems to be quite busy which is a testament to the good food. We made reservations for our group of 6.

Food was really good and big portions. The lemon potatoes were a little too sour for me but everything else tasted amazing. I had the chicken souvlaki dinner.

The first time we went, the food was good. Portion good, food was hot. Service was good and polite. However, on our second visit today with our family of 4, it was the total opposite experience. We were seated fairly quickly-15 mins after we arrived. We knew what we wanted to order, so we gave our order within the first 5 minutes. Our drinks were served first, which were totally flat and tasted watered down. Then the wait began..... after 40 minutes, we inquired how long the food would be as we noticed people being seated after us who were already being served their food. The server was extremely rude. She had an angry, annoyed look. After another 20 minutes, we were served, but all food on all the plates was barely warm to the touch. I asked mine to be warmed, and my husband and kids could not be bothered as they were too hungry to wait any longer. We ate what we could and left soon as possible. I was extremely unhappy with this experience and could not understand why the servers mood was switched off with us. But fine for the other white guests. Will not be coming again.

I ve been a customer since day one. I visited April 10th and I ordered the gyro. I found the meat too salty and the beef was overcooked, hard like beef jerky. 3/4 was left untouched. I mentioned this to server plus to tell the chef when she asked how was the meal. Seemed like it didn t even phase her. Another server asked and I told the same thing. She seemed more concerned and said she would mention to the chef. I received the bill and my gyro was listed with full price. I said to the server that I was disappointed and I was told the bill was completed by the original server. Hence, my tip was zero. My 2nd tip should have been listen to the customer Since this review was posted, I have had discussions with Mario Kyprianou. He has reached out to apologize which I think is a very large step forward to maintain the high standards that his establishment has achieved. Nobody, no place, is perfect, but Mario has certainly strived to make things better both in the kitchen and with the customer. Kodoos Mario. I look forward to returning Aug 28th, 6:15 pm. After a long drive home from Quebec, we ordered take out, my wife chicken souvlaki and I ordered and the gyro. I must say, the souvlaki was excellent. My gyro was moist and certainly plentiful. This was the gyro that I have always enjoyed. Great job Mario.

Amazing food. Slow service but worth the wait.

Best Greek food in town and there s nothing even remotely close. Dishes are spiced and cooked perfectly, huge portions, and prices are totally reasonable for the quality of what you get. Lamb souvlaki, shrimp souvlaki, saganaki, and calamari are all highlights for me. They also have the best tzatziki I ve had anywhere. It can be a bit of a wait to get a table or get takeout but it s absolutely worth the wait. This place is busy as hell for good reason.

The best Greek in KW! I ve had the shrimp souvlaki, tzatziki with pita, and calamari and the portions are huge. I think 4 skewers of 3 big shrimp in one meal - other places often give half the amount in a shrimp dish. Everything is seasoned perfectly.

BEST Greek food in Waterloo Region!!! My husband and I always order a shrimp souvalki dinner and a spanakopita dinner and share. The food is fresh, flavourful and absolutely delicious. Parking: Restaurant is located in a plaza with several other businesses. Lots of parking available.

I have loved this restaurant for years for their consistently delicious greek food. This weekend we had the pleasure of placed a takeout/small group catering order with owner, Mario, and had a fabulous experience. Not only was the food of the same, delicious quality you get when eating at their restaurant, but Marios customer service and gratitude made the experience wonderful. Thank you for making our family birthday party so tasty! Vegetarian options: Im obsessed with the veggie moussaka from Medditeranneo which is really hard to find at other greek spots. Same great, hearty flavour as the meat option. The greek salad with their dressing is also amazing.

The overall food was actually pretty good, would definitely recommend if you are in the mood for some Greek. I will say that service was actually pretty disappointing. Basically no attentiveness from our server, had to walk up and ask for a water refill, waited 45min for our food, just not the best experience.

We have had the pleasure of dining at Mediterraneo our on many occasions, and it never fails to impress. This family-owned gem has become one of the only restaurants we return to regularly, and for good reason. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm and inviting and the service is consistently outstanding. Every dish is prepared with care and flavours are always spot on. Our favourites are the bruschetta, village salad, lemon potatoes and of course the chicken souvlaki. In addition to the fantastic food and service, the overall ambiance of the restaurant adds to its charm. It s a perfect spot for both casual meals and special occasions. Would not hesitate to recommend!!!

Food was good! I did find two big bay leaves in the rice and there were a lot of dried herbs, would have been nice if it was lighter. The staff working seemed overwhelmed and kept saying they were under staffed. Not the best experience but it was good. Food : 4/5

I cant get over how good this place is. I always get the village salad which is complex, fresh and generous in size. Theres really nothing else like it. Lovely service and great atmosphere as well.

I love love love the food here! I ordered the gyro plate and couldnt stop eating. The food came out quick and looked and tested amazing. Make sure you make reservations if you want to dine in.

My wife and I visited here around 4:00 pm on August 10. Lets just say that we are glad we did. We had saganaki, moussaka, and pork souvlaki on a pita with greek salad. All of the food was delicious and tasted authentic. When/if we pass through the Waterloo area again, we would definitely drop by this establishment again. Keep up the good work, folks!

The servers are so rude and disrespectful all of them if they hate there job they should work there it s so simple, when they see a person with color they treat them differently I am never going there anymore and I m telling everyone I know not to go to this place

We were looking to do a takeout order from their catering menu for 8 people on a very busy night for the restaurant. Originally, we thought we would have to order from another place. Then, the owner personally reached out to me so they could make it happen for us. Food was absolutely delicious and we will be eating there again in the future.

Went for a casual Friday lunch with my husband after seeing the weekly appetizer feature posted on Mediterraneos social media. We chose a seat on their patio which had a nice amount of shade which was great for how warm the weather was. Our server was quick to come take our drink orders and answer any questions about the menu. Our food came quickly, despite the amount of patrons dining inside the restaurant. We opted for the weekly appetizer feature to start since that is what we traveled to the restaurant for. The plate was hot honey halloumi cheese flatbread (Fresh halloumi pan seared with hot honey on warm flat bread and tzatziki, topped with pomegranate). When I say this dish was magical, that would be an understatement. The halloumi was seared beautifully with a nice kick of sweet and spicy from the hot honey. Everything balanced perfectly for the most savoury flatbread that I hope will become a regular part of their menu. For our main, we shared the spanakopita plate, which was the right amount of food to share for lunch. This plate came with a large serving of Greek salad, rice, roasted potatoes, and a very flaky and fresh spanakopita. It was very tasty and I would definitely order this again. Our server was lovely and attentive, making sure that we had everything we needed, that the food was up to par and that my husbands coffee cup was never empty. For our first experience at this restaurant, we were thoroughly impressed with the service and the food. We look forward to visiting again in the near future! Vegetarian options: Spanakopita plate, fettuccine Alfredo, and veggie moussaka are amongst the vegetarian options. There are also salads and many appetizers that are vegetarian friendly.

I ordered a Chicken Souvlaki over the phone for pickup. I ordered a Dinner sized meal. When picking up the order the owner was incredibly arrogant and rude. They made the mistake and made a lunch sized meal (didn t listen correctly on the phone). Instead of apologizing and offering to correct it. He simply replied it ll be 25 min wait. I left and will not be returning.

I recently dined at Mediterraneo restaurant and was blown away by the delicious and authentic Greek cuisine. Despite the restaurant being busy, our server Michael was incredibly attentive and kind, which we greatly appreciated. The food was simply outstanding you could taste the authenticity in every dish. Each item was well-prepared and bursting with flavor. I was thoroughly impressed and cant imagine going anywhere else for Greek food. Mediterraneo has truly set the bar high for exceptional dining experiences!

The calamari was cooked to perfection. We also ordered the chicken souvlvaki and gyro plate, the flavours were great! This was our first time here and definitely wont be the last. Service was mediocre but it did get busy very quickly. Was almost a full house with only one server. Overall, she was nice and did well for it being that busy.

We had a family dinner, ordered Saganaki, and souvlaki dinner. The food and service were great!

We got takeout from the small family run restaurant and absolutely LOVED it. The restaurant is super cute and authentic, the food was also amazing. We went to order in person and the man taking our order took great care of us, went out of his way to specialize my order to make it vegetarian friendly and talked to the chef himself. Would highly recommend.

I do like their food, but their catering menu is soo limited, boring and awful. We constantly order food from this restaurant for our office and its wonderful when we individually order meals or order off their regular menu, but when we order off the catering menu, its nothing special. They could could also improve their tzatziki sauce. Tzatziki sauce can make or break a meal, and this one is very meh. *Relax on the mint and add more garlic*

Take-out is not a strength. We placed our platters orders 5 hours before pickup for a dinner party. Unfortunately, I waited in a line with others waiting to pick up their orders too as the food was not available. The waitstaff were amazing but of course that is not their responsibility. While waiting I did see several orders coming out of the kitchen so this comes down to a disorganized process. I did check in with staff and confirmed my order while waiting. So it was disappointing to arrive home to discover the moussaka missing. I called and then they had a driver deliver it.

The food was amazing! However, make sure if you get delivery you double check what their delivery person puts in the bill. I asked what delivery would cost and they said the delivery person would tell me when he arrived. He didnt and I only realized after that he charged $20 and then handed me the machine with tip options. I thought delivery was based on the tip option. So I ended up paying $50 for just the delivery alone. I know I should have paid more attention, but it also felt a bit sneaky.

medeterranio ruined my birthday all i wanted was their chicken souvlaki for my birthday dinner and my mom called multiple times and no one answered everytime so we went there and they were closing early for the long weekend. no one answered so we didnt know and it wasnt on the voicemail. its a huge shame because i love this restaurant but im so upset by their service.

Mediterraneo is a local Waterloo gem!!!! Theres a reason why this restaurant has survived and thrived in the region for over 18 years - its simple, well made and delicious classic Greek fare is divine!!! The service is wonderful, with a super attentive and friendly waitstaff and the restaurant decor is charming without being kitschy. We had the chicken souvlaki and the gyro dinners - fantastic! Absolutely love the Greek potatoes, perfectly done! This dinner reminded me of being in Corfu.

I cant say enough good things about this Greek restaurant its hands down the best in Waterloo and the best Greek food Ive ever had! I love the combination of crab and shrimp salad in my Santorini chicken. Best part is the rice, very herbal and juicy I took out 1 star for the long wait time, we waited for more than 45 minutes to get the food

The foods are so delicious! Meats are tendered, salads are flavourful. They get all the spices right! Notes: Friday/Saturday nights are packed! The wait time for food could be 40-50 min. Be prepared! Tho it worth the wait.

We hosted a birthday party for my mother-in-law at Mediterraneo and we had a lovely time. The food was incredible, service was exceptional. All of our guests enjoyed themselves, will definitely go back again!!!!

Had an excellent meal here with new friends. We split a spanakopita and calamari. Both were excellent. The calamari were perfectly crunchy battered but soft on the inside. The spanakopita was flakey and savory. For my main I had the Lamb Souvlaki. The lamb was good but it was the sides that really wowed me. The lemon potatoes were so amazing, I am still thinking about them, and the rice was really good too even though I normally rarely bother finishing it I ate every bit. The Tzatziki sauce was incredible but I wish there was a bit more of it! All in all it was an excellent meal and I was very pleased. Recommended!

Large group for dinner tonight and everything was fantastic. Shared a bunch of apps, the calamari and whipped feta with hot peppers were the highlights. Santorini Chicken as the main which was delicious. Also had a Greek salad (not pictured). Service was spot on!

Went here with a large group and had an amazing meal. Had the Tirokafteri to start and then Santorini Chicken for main. The food was hot and very tasty. Service was great and didnt even feel like we were part of a large group because it was so smooth. Will definitely be coming back

I cant come up with enough positive things to say about this restaurant. We went there with a large group of 35. From my first phone call in to start the booking process to when we walked out the door was nothing but smooth and pleasant sailing. Both the kitchen and the staff were on their A game through our entire dinner. Plates came out picture perfect and tasted as good as they looked! I have never tried Mousaka before and was quite taken aback by how good it was! Great value for your money, great service, great owner!

Excellent food and service. Souvlaki Dinner chicken portion is small for the price and the amount of tzatziki they give you is so small, tiny actually. Increase the amount of chicken and increase tzatziki by at least 3 times and it s 5 out of 5.

Best Greek Restaurant in KW! I usually have the Moussaka (amazing), decided to try the Gyro Plate today. It was delicious, such an excellent culinary experience. So much tasty food, enough left to take home. My husband had Chicken Souvlaki, his favourite. Incredible food and service! Thanks to Andy, his lovely wife and son in law, great chefs! Also thanks to Perry for the excellent service as always!

Went for lunch after seeing such great reviews, drove 45 minutes, totally worth it. Such a nice lunch with a friend, had the chicken Slovakia, it was delish, portions were so big, cant believe I ate it all! Will be back.

Last weekend I placed an order for pickup and by the time I arrived they were packing my order, so it was on perfect time for when they told me it would be ready. Bruschetta app, souvlaki dinners and chicken pasta dinner was all amazing. Portions are perfect. Can t say enough good things about them and the service. This is a great Greek/Mediterranean restaurant. It almost seems like a hidden gem. The food is amazing abd served in large portions and the service is helpful and friendly. Although, their closing times of 8pm during the week and 9pm on the weekends do not accomodate later evening dinners. This was our experience so we ended up ordering online. Beforehand we called 8 times and no one answered the phone and when we came to pick up the food the woman at the front was rude. This would have been out second time at Mediterraneo in which we were taking some friends whom we suggested this place to and were disappointed with our experience. Although the food, of course, was amazing.

I ordered a large order for take-out and the food was fresh and delicious. I was impressed how everything was packaged. The portions were just right as sometimes with take-out orders that can lack. Im just so happy that the food and all the side salads were fresh and tasty. A huge hit for my moms birthday!

Its best to have reservations because the food is great and it can get busy. Our food got delayed so we got a free appetizer. We didnt care since we were enjoying our conversation and wine. Staff is very friendly. You feel like friends and family. You definitely have to eat here.

You know when you find those hidden gems in your city...this is one of them. I really wanted some great food and they delivered. Portions were a good size and flavors were amazing. I will definitely be back. Only suggestion would be to dim the lights as its very bright in there. Server was knowledgeable and attentive. So glad I asked her for her recommendation. Cant wait to go back!!

Excellent food! Family friendly atmosphere. Heads up that portions are gigantic. Soup is also amazing. You cant go wrong with any of the mains!

Consistently good and fresh. The village salad with chicken is our go to favorite. I wish it was bigger for the price but taste is always on point. Kid-friendliness: My kids love the kids souvlaki.

Started with their calamari which was crispy and fresh. Had the shrimp souflaki which came with a dozen juicy tiger shrimp on skewers! So delicious! My hubby enjoyed the Chicken Santorini and we finished our meals with the last piece of baklava and an Oreo cheesecake! An all around wonderful experience.

We went for a work holiday party. The staff is amazing, the food was delicious and such a great set up. For a bigger group it kept things more family like Vegetarian options: The moussaka was delicious Dietary restrictions: They met the needs of our group well having a variety of different needs Kid-friendliness: We had a couple kids there that ate more than they would eat at home

We had a very fulfilling dinner and there was enough leftover to have dinner twice! Fast and friendly service, very reasonable prices. Its worth another visit!
