Had a great Beef Barbacoa burrito! And the service was kind and quick.

Not even close to real Mexican food

Dry and mediocre. More dry rice and bean than shrimp. Was really hungry and didn t even bother to finish the wrap :(

Food is good The problem is they never open on time. That s twice now they haven t been open and ready to go 20 minutes after their posted time. Disappointing and unprofessional. Food : 4/5

As a vegan, I m used to having to pay extra for things like avocado or guacamole - even though I m not eating the cheese or sour cream that s included. Imagine my happy surprise when I went to pay for my burrito bowl and they told me they don t charge for the guacamole on vegan orders. I enthusiastically encourage my fellow plant-based eaters to eat here.

Terrible service- not even close to mexican eatery--not worth spending $$ I was served with chicken bowl (that I ordered from uber eats)that had no chicken in it and when I asked the lady(server) she said they are out of chicken. Food

Completely bogus portion sizes

I got 5 tacos. I specifically said I didnt want onions. Unfortunately, the salad had onions. We couldnt eat it. Im not going back. Ever.

Since its Mexican cuisine and Tacos are their specialty so I went for that but i was so disappointed, the tortilla they used for it had a funky smell like it was being kept at moist place for long time and they didn t even grilled it properly, ordered three but couldn t even finished one and all went to garbage, highly disappointed

I ordered (via Uber Eats) 2 borritos with all the free additions plus paid for guacamole. What I got was borritos with just rice and beans and maybe some sour cream. No vegies, no salsa, no guacamole. I called z-teca to complain but they just referred me to Uber Eats. As if Uber prepared the borritos.

Okay for quick meal, guy behind counter not overly friendly.

It was alright, although my burrito was chronically under-filled and drowned in sauce. Better then a lot of the other chain Mexican places, but far from authentic and steak was very chewy

You know what, Ill say it - best burrito in Waterloo. Every time I come here the service is friendly and excellent, and every time I love what I am eating. I am the biggest advocate that we need more Chipotles in Ontario, but until that day this place is my go to. And honestly, it might even be better than Chipotle in my mind at this point. All the ingredients taste fresh and of the highest quality. The burritos are stout and sturdy, and not at all sloppy, with as much integrity as the artists who fashion them. Im in love with the girl who was right next to me the whole time.

I ordered from here today. The food was amazing. Excatly what I asked for. Packed with flavor and definitely helped me hit my veggie craving. Quality of the Salad was amazing and the corn side dish is delicious. Definitely recommend. Vegetarian options: They have options for everyone

Fresh and clean ingredients are the name of the game at this Z Teca location. Real pride of ownership in the quality of food and level of service received. My favorite place to visit when Im craving a fresh and filling meal in Waterloo. Highly recommend!

I ordered online, they were super quick and efficient. The estimate time they provided was accurate, and it was a decent amount of food for the price.

For the first time, I visit this restaurant and order a vegetable burrito and there are no vegetables. The chips are normal and with no salsa. They give sour cream with a quesadilla and it tastes bad. overall it is a bad experience. I will never visit this restaurant again.

Never have I had such perfectly cooked juicy shrimp at a taco joint. They cooked it on the pan, it wasn t sitting in a hot table like some places. The fish taco was yummy too. Both times I went there was no line so my food was made fresh. Pico de gallo was very fresh tasting. Two tacos were enough for me.

Reasonable tasty food

BBQ pork corn tacos were a yummy appetizer to start with. Chicken quesadilla was big, crunchy, with lots of meat and cheese and pickled onion and cilantro garnish - tasted wonderful with sour cream on the side :) The tortilla soup was excellent with a strong savoury bean flavour and crispy nacho topping! There are big windows facing the LRT train, great location Service was quick and friendly highly recommend this place! Will keep this restaurant in mind next time we are in the area

Salsa etc tasted fresh, but it took a long time for the single server to serve the five members in our group, so my food went cold. Other customers left rather than wait. Our group enjoyed their tacos overall. Nachos made with nasty processed cheese. Dietary restrictions: Clear info on gluten free options available which was great.

One of many Mexican chain restaurants. Chipotle, Bar Burrito, etc. Nothing bad, nothing great. Its good, not great. Friendly staff, clean. To owner: You ask what it would take to get a 5-star review? Create differentiation. When somebody asks where do I get Mexican food in KW, make me say Z-teca.

Great place, great portions, great taste, great and friendly staff and service, and its healthy and quick. I enjoy grabbing a taco or burrito from here every so often, and Ive never had a bad experience.

Very good Mexican food!

I tried Z-teca for the first time a few weeks ago and when I found out that there was one in Waterloo, I was very excited to try it. However, I was disappointed with my visit (oct 16th). I wanted to try the pulled pork burrito bowl after my sister recommended it to me a while back. When the employee opened the pulled pork lid, it looked disgusting - soggy and in a lot of liquids - nothing like the other location we have been to. Not sure if it was a bad batch of pulled pork, but you cant expect customers to want to have it when it looks the way it looked.

The guacamole was just pureed Avocado (not the best ones, either). No jalapeños, no onion, no tomato, no garlic, no salt, no lime. The steak Barbacoa tasted like it was just meat boiled in water with no spices or salt. The server didnt actually ask about the toppings and started wrapping the tacos before we had even selected the toppings. We informed her that we actually wanted toppings, but when we asked for guacamole and Pico as toppings, and she just put it in a separate container for the first taco because she had already wrapped it. So we are supposed to assemble it as soon as we sit down? Strange.... She also didnt ask if we wanted a drink, so we had to stop her during checkout and inform her of our drink selection. She also seems like she doesnt want to be working, and is chatting on her personal cellphone while working with the food. The steak had some flavour, and the shrimp itself was tasty, but everything else was a let-down.

Tryed for first time today ordered steak found the food to be bland and boring will say the pico was fresh also wonder if its normal to get chips with no salsa never had that happen anywhere else

I got a vegetable burrito and let me tell ya, there were no vegetables to be found. Price is okay, just not really a place Id go back to. Hot sauce was not spicy at all.

The rice was quite nice but there were barely.any vegetable options, their hot was not at all spicy and the chicken was tasteless. To top it all off, I got a stomachache after.

I tried to order online but when I am checking out, it keeps saying Missing Customer Information . I tried calling but keeps going to voicemail. I wonder how they re still in business when I can t even place my order. (Couldn t find them on Uber Eats either!)

We used z-teca to cater a birthday party. The food was outstanding, exceeded our expectations and would order again. It was hot, good portions and very tasty with lots of variety.The manager went beyond what was expected to help us meet our expectations. Highly recommended.

I was quite disheartened by the crispy chicken burrito bowl. The bowl itself was quite tasty, the issue though is it was just two TINY pieces of chicken strips.

Really enjoyed everything! I would like try to improve the consistencies of the fish. I order 3 fish tacos and the first one, was amazing. But the other two tasted older and looked a bit grey. The beef was great and the shrimp! Overall, i would come back!

Excellent food, made quick, and the staff are super nice and friendly! Their crispy chicken is low-key incredible, and you cant really go wrong with anything they serve! Highly recommend!

Awesome place to have Burrito

I had the shrimp bowl with the pineapple and mango salsa. Ok serving size, was not very filling though. Not much flavor either. Tastes ok.

Delicious. I had a salad bowl and it was super hearty and filling. Family had tacos, burrito bowls and nachos. Only to criticize is how soggy the nachos were. Wouldnt get them again. Everything else was delicious.

Loved this place on King St. in Toronto before it shut down, so I was glad to see a location in my new home of Waterloo. The franchise is great with fresh ingredients and quality combinations. It will always fill you up for cheap and when I went, they had Mexican Street Corn. Where could you possibly go wrong?

A cut above other Mexican/burrito eateries in town in my opinion. The cilantro lime rice and chipotle salsa . Solid portions!

Surprised by the good ratings - there are much better places than this. Guac & chips were actually awful - very bad aftertaste and the chips tasted like salt with weird vinegar. BBQ Pork Burrito bowl was mediocre. If I was going to eat at a chain, I would definitely prefer Bar Burrito over this.

Clean environment. I was a little underwhelmed by the toppings options. Its basically salsa and cilantro. I had the barbocoa and was again disappointed with the amount of meat. When it was all said and done I didnt find much flavour.

Small portions when ordering taco and quesadilla - not stuffed with filling like other spots in town are. Very few topping / filling options (eg. no jalapeno). Disappointed that they only have a soft tortilla option instead of a crispy version too.
