If not for the junior server, Im not sure we would have even got our dinner. We were not impressed. Good thing for the young lady trying to do the servers job.

Really cozy place, amazing service and great prices!

We went as a family of three the other day. I had been to the Kitchener location when it first opened, so I was excited to finally go back almost a decade later. We had a wonder server, but the food was not good. The fries tasted like they were heated up from the day before - I had to soak them in ketchup and the aoili to make them edible (I was hungry). I had the falafel naan, and while the falafel was good, the rest had no taste. The kids meal didnt look great either. It was disappointing to spend so much money for such bad food.

Nice atmosphere, fun trivia night. Food is awful, got nachos and the wedge salad, never again.

Its solid. When looking for vegetarian options dont forget the chickpea burger substitution on their regular burger.

Staff is absolutely wonderful, atmosphere is great. Myself and seven others had a good time together. My main complaint is the proportions. I ordered the korean BBQ fried chicken sandwich dine-in. I thought the chicken was a little on the small side, but it was still passable. Flavours were fine. The gochujang sauce was pretty grainy, and the kimchi didnt have much tang to it. The fries and the aioli were good. The part that Im bothered by is the three large meatball appetizer that I ordered for my partner for takeout. This cost $20. I think that large is an exaggeration; these are at most the size of a golf ball, and I dont think the tomato and ricotta sauce, and three pieces of bread make up for it. I just dont think that its worth the price in any way. Ill probably come by again regardless, because I still enjoyed myself. Im just pretty soured by the meatballs.

I would kill a man for their Nutella brownie. Their mac and cheese with fried chicken is also very good. Truffle chicken was terrible and underwhelming, and it was overcooked and under seasoned. Would not get again.

The best restaurant you can go to! All of the meals we got tasted so great! Ashley was an amazing server and really took care of us! Best service ever! I recommend you get the Birria Tacos and the Fried Chicken Sandwich! Probably the best food and drinks you can get anywhere!

Most definitely a great place to be! Not to be missed. And the brews were Amazing! You need to make time and sit back and really enjoy this place. It is definitely a place you can t rush out of.

The interior of this brewery is asthetic and gives a vintage vibe. Their local brews are worth a try. Best part is that they have a take away option for there self crafted beers. Food was okay but the drinks make it up to the mark.

Friendly staff and good atmosphere, especially enjoyed trivia night. I would say their food is mediocre for the price, most of it is quite expensive for the quality you are getting. Their poutine was pretty disappointing and selection of beers leans heavy on the IPA side (good or bad thing, depending what you like). There are some good food items though and its worth the visit.

Busy Saturday because of Saint Paddys Day. Not enough staff - our waitress was running, didnt waste a moment, but had too many tables to cover alone. I tipped her well - she did a great job given the circumstances. Food was good, and interesting. It took me several minutes to pick, which is rare. Venue was packed and still pretty clean. Crowd was reasonably friendly, all ages. Will return. Parking: Parking lot was full because of Saint Paddys Day. Normally the lot has a few empty spaces.

I had the belt buster burger and yes, my belt was busted. The sweetness of the apple butter reduction was a pleasant surprise, which adds layers to the richness from the curds pressed into the beef patty. Would try again. Food

We went there for trivia and they forced us to buy food or drinks and told us that if we do not do that, they will charge us $5 per person. Moreover, when we told the waitress me and my friend were gong to share a plate of sweet potato fries (more than $5 each) they still made us buy our own thing. They have nothing about the one food or drink item per person rule on their website nor did they say anything about it when we made the reservation. How are we supposed to know? And why is sharing something not allowed?? Especially when its over $5 per person. The waitress was very nice and apologetic, but we dont appreciate being scammed like this.

Solid place for beers, Id recommend the flights. Food is good if standard pub fare, Id go for the beer first and the food second. Occasional live music is nice but the room is acoustically very bright and its difficult to have a conversation when its busy or music is playing.

Ribs were good, lots of different beer selections. It was basically empty on a weekend evening which was weird but we werent complaining lol

Had a reso for a group of 10 people. Aside from us there was only 2 or 3 other groups in the restaurant. Even so, we got slooooow service. We were also given a reduced menu since we were a group which seems a bit silly since their menu is already fairly small. I had the fried chicken sandwich which was decent but not mind blowing. Several people got the Thai ginger bowl and all said it was not very tasty.

Terrible service ... or, rather, no service. We sat at our table for over 10 minutes after we were seated and not a single server even so much as looked at us, despite the fact that the restaurant was half empty and the few servers we did spot lollygagged their way to the tables, so they clearly werent short-staffed. Dont waste your time with this place.

Had a wonderful meal here yet again! Last time I was here I was with a large group and they arranged a wonderful meal for us all. They did mention to us in advance that we would have a limited menu but the options were more than enough. Most recently I had amazing service from Julia. She was so kind, sat us immediately and gave us amazing service. Thanks Julia :) We got the cauliflower bites, nachos and sweet potato fries. All the food was delicious as always!

For Waterloo standards, beer was good and ambience was good. Chicken wings were fine as well - however, the nachos were just horrible. Not only the chicken was bland, the chips were all chewy - that that too it was the most expensive item on our bill. TBH, they get the 4 stars just cause they are in K/W region; where things in general are mostly dead and food is pathetic :-|

Food was not up to expectations. The fish was mushy and not flavourful. The bowl was good but the serving very small. Our drinks were mixed up with another table, however, the drinks themselves were okay.

I was invited to Abe Erb as part of a volunteer appreciation evening. This is my first time to enter this pub and I was blown away. Very nicely done decor. You can see the tanks used for Brewing quite tastefully placed. Service is excellent. Food was delicious.

Nice atmosphere, especially in the summer when they open up the front area. Service is usually fast and food is good.

Amazing specialty beers

Atmosphere is great, waiter was very quick and friendly, beers were good, but the Thai Ginger Bowl I decided to try wasnt very good at all. Shouldve stuck with the burger, but thought Id try something different.

Order sofritas specifying vegan multiple times. Unfortunately, they included the dairy based sauce, which I am allergic to. Edit: After returning to the restaurant, I was refunded. I appreciate the resolution.

Place is great, but really hard to find the real beers. Service is excellent and staff is very friendly. Parking is the other problem. Vegetarian options: Seeet potatoes fries are great.

What a great spot. Randomly stopped in for dinner and was rewarded with some interesting flights of in-house and guest draughts. But the food took the spotlight. Had the feature dish of chicken Alfredo pasta and it was delicious. Similar remarks around the table. Will definitely return to try other dishes.

We cant thank Tony, Ashley, and the rest of the staff at Abe Erb enough for allowing us to use their space for our recent engagement shoot, as well as being so incredibly kind and accommodating during the shoot! Its the place where we had our first date years ago, and coming back as an engaged couple felt incredibly special. We were able to capture some beautiful photos, and after leaving to take some photos in Waterloo Park, we came back and enjoyed the amazing food and drinks that we remember from our early days of dating. Im so happy that Abe Erb is here, in the heart of Uptown Waterloo. Such a great place!

We showed up on the Sunday of the August long weekend. People who arrived after us recieved food before us. We had to ask when our food would be ready. One hour to get food. They were not busy as restaurant was less than half full. Fries not cooked. Very overpriced. $3 for one slice of bacon on a burger. One thin slice of cheese on a grilled cheese sandwich. $10 for a lemonade. First and last time to visit this restaurant.

Good for a fancy night out. They have a plant based menu. I got a bowl which was very good but my sister who is vegan got the pizza which was lack luster and the crust was so thin it had a hole in it. The vidlbe inside is nice but it is a bit loud so not ideal if you are easily over stimulated; but the patio looked really nice (it was full when we went).

Went on a sat night - they had a live band performing. Great vibe I ordered tequila Mezcal which tasted good (cocktails are overpriced though) $13/- Fries were fresh and crispy. Friendly staff

Finally had the chance to visit Abe Erb. I really wish a spot like this had been around when I was in University, they would have seen me a whole lot. The beer options are varied and have something for every taste, and the food is flavourful and delicious. Our dishes today were enjoyed by all, and Im already trying to figure out when the next time I can get to Waterloo will be. Parking: Located right in Town Square there is plentiful parking in behind the restaurant. Free for 2 hours and then I believe there is an option to extend parking for a fee after that. Kid-friendliness: They were fantastic about our kiddos (3 years old) being in the restaurant. The hostess/server/bartender on shift was amazing and brought over toys and a puzzle to help occupy them during the meal.

Arrived Saturday night and had a great time. Food looked good but beer was great and band was outstanding.

I had the Korean Chicken Sandwich and it was delicious, definitely would order again. Its got a bit of heat maybe similar to Franks Red hot. I can always find a style of beer that I love too. Recommend.

We held our wedding reception at Abe Erb and it was the best decision ever. I am so happy I got to talk to Tony months before our wedding. He was very responsive to emails, answers all our questions and thats why I felt confident that our event would go smoothly and went with Abe Erb. On the day of our wedding, they were very helpful and organized. Bar service and all of the staff were amazing, the bartenders kept us and our guests happy. But the most important of all, THE FOOD. Oh my god, the food. Our guests cannot stop raving about the food. They couldnt believe it. Everyone kept asking us how we found this place to hold our wedding. We had a sit down dinner and set menu and Abe Erb did that seamlessly. We also had passed appetizers in the beginning and grilled cheese sandwiches for our late night snack. I am so thankful for all staff! Thank you for making our wedding memorable :) the vibes were definitely 1000000/10!

All I can say is wow I m amazed! The atmosphere and service exceeded expectations. I came in a few weekends ago and Natalia was a wonderful server. This was my first time here and I will definitely be coming back. The drinks were amazing im glad I gave it a chance. I ve heard a lot of good things about this place and now I know why.

We were out for a walk. They had a nice live music going on... We liked the vibe and got in.. I tried their inhouse IPA, loved it. Chicken wings could be better. I also found the price to be little higher comparatively. I was in for a quick grab, Just ordered a beer and wings.

The service and drinks are always great but the food is extremely disappointing. I was there on June 16th and paid $22 for the mushroom farfalle pasta with chicken (entrée). The dish was appetizer-sizeed, not entrée-sized, it was tasteless and I could count the number of mushrooms on one hand. It was so small that I was still hungry when I was finished, even though I normally struggle to finish my meal at a restaurant. If the food is going to be subpar the price should reflect that!

This place went downhill. I ordered a smoked salmon appetizer which ended up being mushed canned salmon fried on top of bread. It did not taste fresh. I returned it and they only took off 30% of it off the bill. Customer service has now died in this establishment along with quality of food and beverage. Needless to say they lost me and my friends and family as customers to save $9.

Not sure what happened to Abe Erb. It didnt help that we one of us was served a different beer than was ordered (ever though we questioned our server, and then received a second, identical incorrect beer. I assume it was put in the bar tablet incorrectly). But the meal itself was just .... underwhelming. Nothing stood out, and we decided that it would be a while before we thought about returning.

Music at music trivia night is unpleasantly loud. Food is good, selection sucks though.

Edit: The owner reached out to me and asked me to come back again. I appreciated that and went back a couple of months later. The food was good this time and I appreciate the burger too. A bit expensive but the food quality was better. Thank you! If I could give 0 stars, I would. I ordered a classic burger and it looked like the bun was soaked in oil before coming to us. It was very greasy and dripping allover the plate. I asked it to be sent back and when i got the new one, I was SO ANGRY to see that the bun was ICE COLD and they used the same patty and ingredients as the last one. It actually felt like buns were taken from a fridge and slapped on my burger. The side salad was despicable blackened cherry tomatoes and hardly any dressing on it. A friend ordered the perogies and she paid $25 for 4 perogies!!The entire service that night was very rude and did not even ask us about our meal and we had to go to the table to get our bill because no one was coming to us. I am never coming back to this place again. There are MUCH better pubs and bars around, they get my business.

Amazing food, service, and atmosphere!

The owner/waiter scolded me and told me that he will be paying for my for my meal because I chose to not to tip after having an overpriced and bad experience. The food came in after an hour of wait and 3 follow ups. Our server got us the wrong order and asked us to have it as if he was doing us a favour. My friend s lamb BLT meat was dry and my noodle bowl had lumps of noodles stuck together like when they ve been stored a really long time. I asked for virgin drinks to which the server made a face and after I was extra nice and kept asking for virgin options he got me drinks - 10 bucks each. For half a sweet potato, 1 vegetarian noodle serving (with lumps) and 2 glasses of the virgin drink whose name or price the server couldn t explain I was charged 46 after tax. And then I was scolded for not tipping. Not sure if tipping is mandatory even if you ve had a bad experience but I will not be scolded or peer pressured into it. What a waste of a night when all I was try to do was have a good experience. Not coming back.

I hope they were just having a bad night. Slow to non existent service, cold and bland food were what we got. Beer selection was pretty good and that was the highlight. We will likely give it another try in the future but if it doesn t improve substantially then that will be it.

Great drinks and vibe.

Ive been here a number of times and its been hit or miss. The menu is kind of strange, not many immediately appealing options. The quality of the burger the last time I went there was really not good - maybe because it was pretty late in the night. Beer is pricey but generally pretty good. The chicken tacos were tasty.

Ive always loved ABE ERB because they are very consistent with the food, service and the beers. I love how open the restaurant is, and the vibe they created is immaculate. I always love that they have kW Craft on tap, and they also sell it in 1L Growlers! The service was exceptional and the food was delicious. Overall I will definitely go back and would suggest this restaurant to other friends.

Very pleasing atmosphere. The food is quality over quantity. The beer selection was very nice, The poutine was nice suprise, Not many places use a good heavy thick gravy anymore especially without oversalting it. The fries were seasoned and delicious on their own.

The name dont make sense to me but the food and atmosphere is fantastic!

One of the worst dinners of my life. We originally tried to order fish and chips - they were sold out. It was a Friday, so that was forgivable. We then ordered ribs, the jerk shrimp bowl and the beef grilled cheese. The food came after about half an hour and it was all ICE cold. I sent my ribs back and was told I would be given a new rack. 10 mins later the exact same rack of ribs with 2 missing came back to me. Instead of giving me a new rack, they reheated my quarter eaten rack, drying out the already incredibly dry ribs to the point where they were inedible. Im not usually picky or even one to send food back but this was ghastly. The beef sandwich (according to my dad) was watery and flavorless, and the shrimp bowl was ice cold. And most unfortunate of all, the fries. They were completely undercooked, soggy and almost still raw in the middle. One positive from this experience was our server...she was incredible. Very apologetic (even though she didnt have to be) and comped the ribs upon request, gave us free beers for the road and a 15% off for our next visit. I would come back here for the beer (which was good) but certainly not the food.

Great spot for some good food and amazing local and partner beers and cocktails. It is a little more $$ than some other places, but thats expected for the level of food, drinks, and service provided. If you want to upscale youre night out without breaking the entire bank account Id say get to Abe and Erb STAT!

Don t go there. Worst food. No salsa with Nachos, we waited for so long, asked for heaters but they didn t even provided the heating around us. Had to leave early because it was cold there. Highly disappointed!

Terrible evening at Abe Erb. (Fri Dec 9) It was my sisters birthday. They booked 12 seats 3 weeks in advance via Open Table. When we got there, (we were the first group of 6-7). They had a slimmed down menu on the table at each seat (attached). We asked for the full menu. They said they cant serve the full menu with 12 people. 1. This was never communicated to the person booking 2. All the people around us as well as walk ins were allowed to order from the regular menu. We were upset and escalated it from the service to their manager. Apparently, the back of the house manager managing the cooking area refused to serve us the full menu. They said if we all ordered ribs, it would take too long. We confirmed only one person wanted ribs. We even said we can order in two orders (6 and 6). Furthermore, we then escalated to the store owner via the waitress, who then said they would serve us, however, when she came and told us she mentioned they ran out of ribs. 10 min later, a table two down received ribs. They may have ordered before us, but still, really suspect. They also said we had to order 6 and then 6. We didnt even receive our drinks for 40 min while they were trying to escalate the whole thing. I ordered chicken wings and they were really dry. Worst part was, they added the mandatory 18% for groups to the bill. Seriously! After all that, we should have been given the choice of how much we tipped. Its really unfortunate, but I will not be going back to Abe Erb!

Worst experience we have ever had at a restaurant. We went out for our friend s Christmas party and booked this place a month ago and we were there for 3 hours. Most of us did not get out food. The manager left knowing there was a huge group of us coming. I don t blame the staff they all seemed pretty new and i could hear the kitchen staff say that the manager just left and they didn t know what to do. 3 hours and 75% of us did not eat. Our kids didn t even get their meals. Worst experience ever at a restaurant. Would give it a zero rating but it wouldn t let me.
