Tasty food and amazing customer service. I ordered food for pick up and while I was waiting for my order the lady offered me tea on the house. It s so rare for restaurants now days to take time to talk to their customers and go out of their way to provide a memorable experience.

Used to be great but the quality of food has really deteriorated in the past year.

Amazing place!! Wonderful decorations and super friendly staff. Pretty good price as well. Got the shawarma pita wrap with fries which was delicious. Personally I am not a fan of dipping sauce at all (I know, sue me) but their garlic sauce really changed me and I can t stop thinking about it. And the sauce in the shawarma feels very balanced, not too dry, and not too wet to make a mess.

Food tastes great, really like their rice which is always soft and fluffy! Unfortunately, I dont come here nearly as often as before because the portion sizes in their plates have gotten significantly smaller/stingier since they opened. Very disappointing, Id rather they just have increased prices to account for rising food costs.

I love this place. Ive had excellent service and delicious food every time Ive been there. Yummy combination of spiced and nice selection of dishes. Had one tiny issue last night. I ordered Melarosa and Im pretty sure I was served a Meloui. There was no chicken in my Melarosa. But of course Ill be back. :) Update: I was asked to contact Shamina for follow-up and I did. She graciously offered me dinner tonight but I told her that was not necessary. I appreciate that she is so caring to her customers. I wish her continued success. Parking: Never an issue. Lots of parking available.

Fantastic experience!! The food was so delicious and I would definitely go back! What was even more amazing was their service! The staff were so kind and thoughtful. Our server was very attentive and brought us everything we could possibly need without even having to ask! Another staff member came by and asked if we were cold and we were. She was so kind and offered us some mint tea and was a delight to talk to! Decent!

For my first experience I ordered a couple shawarma plates for take out. The service was nice, but the food was only okay. It felt like a very dry shawarma plate, chicken was pretty dry, seemed like it was from the day before and the meal over all was cold. Cold rice, cold chicken.

Ordered a chicken shawarma plate with rice .. get home and there is NO sauce on it, garlic or hot .. called and they were not apologetic but said sauce only comes when you order shawarma plate with fries .. whaaaaaaaat?????? Never going back, was over $20 for one order of chicken shawarma .. which I will not enjoy, as who the HECK gets it dry? Waste of time and money. Very unhappy FORMER customer.

The warm bread was a lovely start with the olive sampler, although the garlic sauce was not my favorite. The Mixed Grill plate was perfect to share with my son. The lamb and chicken were so moist and the rice had amazing flavor. The Mediterranean salad was also delicious although the house dressing is very mild. If I lived in the area, I would definitely be returning here.

Horible chicken shaworma no salt no taste no flavour dry and disgusting. Fries not good, rice ws instant rice discussing. The good reviews I guess are from family and friends or people with no taste for food. The chicken meat was just above a tone of french fries to give you the impression that you have chicken. They put a lot of salt over the meat to.compensate the lack of flavour and taste. And instant rice?!?!?! Oriental rice is one of the best rice meal.i had but this one it was disgusting, no flavour no nothing. O my God I will never go back there and I will tell all my friend and employees to avoid that place. Shame on you guys you charge a lot for garbage food.

Bland food. Less than average service.

Food was ok. Quantity was very low for the price. The entre came with bread and hummus. They brought hummus in the tiny plastic take away containers and bread was halfway cooked. Also, the bread is the tiniest bread I have ever been served seeing that Im paying $35 for one item. The server left the menu on our table without saying hi or making eye contact. She seemed to be more engaged in sharing pleasantries and jokes with other tables where white ppl were seated. The owner seemed very pleasant and attentive. We really appreciated that. Will not be returning, though.

One star is too generous. I ordered a chicken shawarma plate and the chicken was old, gross, and overcooked and they fried it with onions (when they heated it up)and added a lot of cumin for some reason? This isn t part of any style of shawarma. They also mixed the chicken with the fries, so it looked like you were getting more chicken than you actually were. The plate also came with 2 thin slices of tomato, romaine lettuce, and pickled turnips, and garlic sauce mixed with spices. Ideally, this type of plate should come with a bigger quantity of veggies or a decent side salad. They also brought out fresh bread , however it came 20 minutes prior to the plate (which I wouldn t even consider this pita bread, it was very floury and tortilla-like). It went cold and stale by the time I got my food- not good at all. We also ordered a kafta plate, and the meat was high in fat, which would indicate that it s the cheapest kind. Kafta is a fantastic dish when made right, with the correct lean of meat and spices. However, this was not done well at all. This meal cost 70$ (with drinks and a side order of fries that came dusted with cumin???) not worth the money. Definitely not coming back here. I wouldn t dare to recommend it to anyone.

Seeking this experience, I went down to the Boardwalk to try out ALMADINA Woodstone Oven & Grill (330 The Boardwalk, Waterloo, ON N2T 0A6). A restaurant located in one of the most happening areas of Waterloo, this eatery served me the best Middle Eastern food I had in a while. Hoping to start off with a palate cleanser, I ordered the signature AlMadina Salad plate - an appetizer platter fit for a Middle Eastern feast, boasting a vibrant trio of hummus, tabbouleh, and tzatziki, the dish was paired with crisp and golden pita chips, making for the perfect segue into the entree. My main course was a mixed grill plate - the ultimate carnivores delight showcasing the mastery of charcoal barbecue. First, the succulent shish kabob, boasted tender chunks of marinated beef, charred to smoky perfection. Next, the shish tawook had tender chicken imbued with a melody of spices, offering a burst of flavour with every bite. And then, the kofta: two skewers of seasoned ground meat, grilled over charcoal to achieve a delectable char and caramelization. Could not ask for anything better! This a place for people that prefer softer/milder flavours. The overall experience was fine. The location was clean (although there was no soap in the mens), service was friendly, prompt and only minor drink order mistakes. There was ample parking. The food was a bit bland for our taste - lacking both spice and general flavour. The meat wasnt as crispy, and the wraps werent (or were barely) toasted; Think lettuce and tomato wrapped in bread. We did ask for additional hot sauce but got essentially water with chili powder. Weve eaten better wraps at half the price.

As always, the food at Almadina is fantastic. The grilled lamb plate is my favourite dish here, but really the rice is the star of the show, so nutty and full of flavour. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian options for appetizers and main dishes.

I like that there s a variety of meat and vegetarian dishes, something for everyone to enjoy. The overall service and restaurant is lovely - The manager is also very kind and went out of her way to greet us and talk to us. The food itself is just okay. It wasn t bad, but it wasn t anything special (especially for the price) either. It s worth a visit to try for yourself if you are in the area looking for middle eastern cuisine. Such a beautiful resturant, the owner has a heart of gold, god bless her. The food is top tier. The charcoal chicken is my go to, its always made perfectly and tastes amazing. Overall a great wonderful resturant.

The food is great!! We ate it all. But more incredibly, the customer service and staff were memorable. You see, our Tesla had locked us out in the parking lot amidst our food order, and the people here were very kind and accommodating. A staff member (which I didnt catch the name of unfortunately), came out with us, in the freezing cold, in hopes of fixing our issue. They gave us tea in fancy gold rimmed cups, and let us sit in the restaurant despite our frantic panic. How fun!

Their charcoal chicken is a must try. It is super delicious and it comes with salad and rice that taste amazing. I would recommend having it at the restaurant. I do wish they gave more rice though because the chicken is huge and the amount of rice they give is not enough for two people.

Their quality has really gone downhill. Just ordered on SkipTheDishes. Horrible rice and chicken. I feel like they gave me leftovers. The rice were clumping. The chicken quality was so bad. Ugh never again.

Is there new ownership or chef? The Beef Shawarma no longer contains delicious, thin, and soft beef. It seems to have been replaced with very tuff beef slices.

If I could give this restaurant more stars, I would. My husband and I visited here for the first time and the food was absolutely wonderful. My mind is blown. I had the grill platter and it is out of this world. Its neat to see the kitchen area exposed like a place with a more casual feel, but it puts out some of the best food Ive ever had. The humus is next-level. I didnt know kofta could be so good. The chicken is marinated to perfection and you can taste the smoky BBQ flavour in it. The kabob was the highlight, though. Only the best meat, seasoned and grilled perfectly. And the fries! Good Lord, theyre better than youll get at any of those gourmet chip trucks. Dont forget the baklava- the best Ive ever had, served warm. The owner chatted with me afterward and seemed genuinely happy I was there. Service was great, too. The price on the menu seemed steep to me, but it ended up being worth every dime. Very highest recommendation. Parking: Parking all around. Its in the Boardwalk plaza so theres a huge parking lot. Wheelchair accessibility: Its barrier-free for persons using wheelchairs.

I had their shawarma platter with fries and it was a bit soggy, the fries were salty and definitely fried either using old oil or were fried too long. The chicken was decent, and so was salad. I cant recommend this place unfortunately.

I order catering from Almadina for many of our events. They are amazing - We are NEVER disappointed! Everyone LOVES their food. They are by far my favourite restaurant to order food from. Their food is delicious! They have great portions, prices, and service. Food is always on time and even provides labels to put out to help people identify what is vegetarian and gluten-free to make the lunch s run smoothly. Shamina and the team are professional and always so friendly and kind and just pleasant to work with. Thanks for always trusting us so well!

Our most recent dine-in experiences at Al Madina have been pretty good. Salads are fresh, the beef and chicken are juicy and flavourful, and the rice is out of this world!

Very friendly and calming atmosphere. Owner loves kids. Food is great! The pizza and the meats are delicious. Theyll join in celebrations if you tell them. PS. I saw photos of the Prime Minister dining here about 2weeks ago. Neat!

I miss Al Madinas falafels so much, that I make a special point of getting them every time Im back in town visiting my parents. Everything is top quality, and fresh tasting. Also had a great fatoush salad with lots of zaatar and a nice sprinkle of pomegranate molasses. Years, ago when they were in University Plaza, they used to have amazing beets, and I miss those. But every time I eat a sad falafel in Ottawa, thats just not as good, I want to get in the car and come home.

Tasty food but poor service [was offered mint tea with rotten mint] and super dirty place with spider nets on the lamps and dead flies on the window ceiling, dirty tables and floor.

First time ordering in and it was so good. Hubby and I had falafel dishes, very tasty. The baklava was amazing. We will be returning customers.

Never been not interested

I honestly have no idea how this place has such good reviews. Maybe we just weren t lucky tonight, but the chicken shawarma was dry, flavourless and didn t even add up to a small chicken thigh. It was mostly rice, and so much of the meat was just skin. The $13 salad was maybe two cups of lettuce and a skint sprinkling of topping, couldn t even taste the feta. The hummus and pita were the best bits, but hardly worth nearly $40 for one main and a salad.

We ordered the Shish Tawook Plate and the Mixed kabob plate. Rice was tasty, chicken was juicy, fresh warm pita and dip was great, the beef could have been better if it wasn t cooked to well done. Also had the banana mango strawberry smoothie which was creamy, very mango-y and delicious. Only problem was it was absolutely freezing inside, with several people complaining about the temperature. Everyone had to eat with their coats on (wish I had gloves)

One of the best Middle Eastern restaurants in KW. We went late to the place, almost 30mins before the closing time, even then the food was really fresh and tasted amazing! Ordered chicken shawarma plate, grilled lamb plate, falafel dish as starter, and Egyptian tea. We got fresh pita bread as starters before the main course was served (didnt order them) First time trying Egyptian tea (comes without sugar, you need to ask for it) and it tastes really good. The chicken and lamb were really juicy and tender. The food in general was really fresh, and flavorful. The dips- hummus, garlic and toum were toooo good. They have pita breads and sauces that you can buy from the counter. We are definitely planning to go back another time and try other items on the menu.

I visited on a Saturday afternoon and was able to choose from a few available tables. The restaurant was warm and bright with attentive service from the staff. Food wise, Almadinas menu is an exciting change from the typical fast food options of burgers, fries, and pizza. They do have a menu section devoted to something that looks like pizzas dressed up in Mediterranean/Middle Eastern toppings. There is a wide selection of vegetarian and meat options all over the menu. The standout item for me was something I had never tried before, Egyptian rice. So buttery and delicious.

Expensive and V bland taste.

We hadnt been in a couple of years and always love their humus and often get it at the farmers market. Ordered for takeout during the blizzard for our family of 4. We ordered the chicken shwarma wraps with fries, and the lamb wrap as well as the humos of course. Best chicken shwarama we have ever had! And my kids agreed. Theyre picky. Cooked perfectly, and it wasnt fatty. Lots of meat. The garlic sauce was so good. And we loved that their fries were freshly cut. Thank you for another lovely meal. Service was also great, fast and friendly. Owner also introduced herself which was a nice touch.

Every time I go here the service and service is amazing.

I went there for lunch with a friend before we were going to a movie at Landmark Cinema. We were on a tight schedule but after we brought it to the attention of our server when we ordered our food we did not have to wait very long and we were served good quality food! Dietary restrictions: Went with a friend on a Gluten free diet.

The food was ok. We ordered Shawarma, samosa, salad and soup. The Shawarma was good. The soup the same. Samosa was nothing like samosa. It was a big ball filled with potato and vegetables. And the potatp was half cooked. The service was not good. The staff were not smiling at all and although I mentioned that the potato was not cooked properly and it was hard, she said just oh and nothing else. Prices were good. The dining room was clean and the atmosphere was good too.

I brought my father to Almadina for his birthday. I couldn t have chosen a better place to celebrate him. Katia was the absolute best, best, best server I ve ever had (and all my closest friends are in the service industry!)!!! She celebrated my father like she was part of our family with the most genuine kindness and warmth. As though the hospitality wasn t enough, the food matched the feeling. It was so fresh, flavorful, and plentiful! I m not a big foodie, but I savoured every bite. My father said it was the best birthday meal he d ever had. Life is so short; time with my sweet father these days are treasured. His birthday lunch at Almadina will be a cherished memory for the rest of my life.

GF dining options. I had the shish tawouk lettuce wrap and the garlic potato salad. The wrap had good chicken and sauce but the quinoa salad tasted like it was previously frozen. It was very watery and lacked flavor. My husband has the shawarma and fries. Great service and my daughter was in the high chair. Shes 7 months and Ive never seen her eat so much bread. She has good taste. They have a change table in the womens bathroom. Definitely a good option for dining with baby. Dietary restrictions: GF options on the menu. Nonne of the platters are though. Kid-friendliness: Waitress cleaned the high chair for us. And was nice about our messy little eater.

Server Katia, took the time to explain the menu in detail. We ordered based on her recommendations. Kofta plate and Grilled Lamb. Food was so delicious. Everything fresh and made in house. All of the complimentary dips were fantastic. Bought some to take home. Strawberry lemonade, so refreshing. Lentil soup, outstanding.

I recently had a wonderful dining experience at Almadina Restaurant in Kitchener-Waterloo. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. It was lovely dining at Al Madina. Had the chance to meet Shamina and her spouse prior at the Grand Malabar and their restaurant truly was lovely. Tried the shawarma, warm pita and Egyptian coffee. Truly wonderfully food, service and ambience.

Havent had the food yet but love the vibe

I m not sure if the owners changed or the management but the food has gone completely DOWN hill. I got 3 shawarma wraps and 1 shawarma plate. I don t know which was worse. I ll have to go with shawarma plate. The rice was over cooked tasteless not to mention the chicken tasted boiled and unseasoned. $60 was thrown into garbage! Won t be returning. Save your money and go somewhere else.

A nice place to enjoy Mediterranean style food. Might require to add a few more waiters to improve their service. Toppings on the manakesh were not adequate, however, it was tasty. Shawarmas werr great too.

We had Almadina cater our wedding and we could have been happier. Shamina was a pleasure to work with throughout the planning and process and all the food was AMAZING! We had people coming up to us all night telling us how great it was. I loved the chickpeas and the beef kebabs myself. We also had many dietary restrictions and requirements which they handled with ease. And the baclava was a hit too. Could not recommend more.

This is the go-to for ordering in lunch at work. There s something for everyone and the quality is always consistent. The shawarma wraps are to die for and this place has hands down the best rice in the region.

I generally order takeout so can t say much for the atmosphere, but this by far is one of my favourite restaurants based on their food. I will keep coming back for their hummus! Staff are also very friendly as well.

Amazing food, good portions and they even sell individual salads, hummus etc. Delicious smoothies and amazing lemonade and amazing bread and desserts.

The beef Shawarma is terrible

The food wasn t good , wasn t even cooked well , the beef shawarma was like a gum can t be swallowed , the fries was full of oil , let s not even talk about the manousha it was just a bread with cheese on top , my receipt was 50$ didn t worth a cent , all this is from my heart I m not coming here again . Not recommended

Food was fresh and well portioned. Humas was really fresh and full of garlic - bread was warm and offered several times. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

Food is ok. Staff were friendly and attentive. Need improvement on authenticity of Middle East / Arabic taste. The char grilled chicken and rice was truly unauthentic and tasteless. Other items were similar. Need to have improvement on ingredients, taste, authenticity and quality. Food : 3/5

What an amazing place! I am a little picky with food, but I have to confess that I fell in love with the taste of this place; the attention is great, and the menu has a variety of affordable prices. What started from a wifes restaurant suggestion ended with one of my favourite places to eat. I highly recommend it; I made this restaurant my number-one option; The Egyptian rice is one of the most exquisite pieces of the food art in the world.

We absolutely love this place!! The food is outstanding. My absolute favorite is the chicken shawarma plate. Their homemade hummus and pitas are to die for!!! The staff is very friendly and welcoming! I would highly recommend trying this place if you haven t already!!!

Amazing food and service. We tried the charcoal grilled chicken with rice and tea, and it was really good. The serving size is good for the price.

So reassuring that it has a place to pray. Ordered the falafel and lamb sandwiches, plus feta and spinach manakeesh. Pricier than similar places, but the ambiance and location probably justify it. Vegetarian options: Falafel were properly fried and spinach was fresh too.

The problem I have is that when you travel and you ve tasted the authentic taste of this countries cuisine it s difficult to find something close to comparison. This place was far from even comparison. Their staff and service is 5* if you want a nice place to dine this place offers it. Their food did not meet my expectations. My bill was $300 for 5 people who dined in and we were comfortable with the amount of space available. With that said the beef kebab was undercooked. We ordered the family platter with extra beef kebabs.
