Really great food. Portions are not huge, but really fantastic flavours!

We came in for a couple of cocktails with friends and enjoyed a great evening. The atmosphere here is great, and the bar staff is wonderful. They are friendly and very knowledgeable. Name a drink and if they have the ingredients, they will make it for you. There are plenty of seats around the bar and thats where the action is . Great place !

The place it self is visually nice. took a long time to get drinks, the food was flavourless and expensive.. and for the lack of service they still automatically put their own tip on the bill which is not okay. Parking: Elora has no availability for parking on weekends so good luck!

Came here with my wife for our anniversary and it was incredible. The decor reminds of the old great hotel bars. The food was terrific, this review is quite late in the making so I forget the exact dishes we had but the fresh oysters were memorable. Jake our server was knowledgeable, polite, and provided great service and made the night memorable. It is expensive but well worth it as a special night out.

Our server Kevin was the best! We had a great time and he was really knowledgeable about the drinks. We would definitely come back.

Been here a handful of times now and I am convinced this is the best restaurant in Waterloo. The flavours are so unique, the service is so friendly, and the cozy environment makes you not want to leave. Also without a doubt the best glass of ice water Ive ever had. Not sure how or why, but wow.

Absolutely one of the best steaks... more like chunk of beef... that Ive ever had... Absolutely blew me away. And the apps were out of this world!!

We just had a wonderful experience at Loloan. Our server Jake went above and beyond for us tonight. From suggesting a beautiful and complex cocktail to pair with our food to guiding us to make the best choices for us on the menu. We ran into a problem with our transportation as we left the restaurant and Jake went out of his way to help us. We can t thank you enough Jake!

Such a great vibe here ! The cocktails are amazing and very delish! Love the presentation. Jake is always very attentive and offers A1 service . The food menu is small but mighty! Lots of flavour as you would expect from Indonesian cuisine.

Shout out to Loloan for catering some fantastic food and drink for an intimate dinner with great friends! It definitely added to the evening. William is the epitome of a fantastic waiter. Kind, thoughtful, thorough and charming. Sarah was also serving us and she was just wonderful, we could not believe it was her first night serving. My fiancé and I were in tonight celebrating our engagement. We had never been before and their service is what will bring us back, they made us and the whole night feel so special. Been to loloan 3 times now. First 2 times was at the bar and could not praise this place more. It was my favorite place to go. This third time, I had the worst experience I have ever seen. The manager here is complete trash and Unprofessional. He came to our table to power trip us. We asked for a table for drinks after 9pm. He was upset and said we had to turn away customer for this reservation we made. Which we stated we would only have drinks when we made it. If you looked around the restaurant at that time there was 3+ empty tables that these so called customer could have been seated at. As much as I hate doing this. I would recommend everyone stay away from this place. Or if the manager does come over to talk to you. Dont let him push you around for something that he allowed to happen.

We were treated by our son to a dinner at Loloan for a special treat. We were so impressed with all aspects of our experience at this place. The friendly reception, great ambiance, menu choices, wine selection and so on. We chose the Early Bird dinner menu. It offered good choices of appetizers, main course and a lovely desert. The whole menu was quite adventurous with somewhat exotic choices. The presentation was wonderful and the taste amazing. The wine pairing was well chosen. Overall, we had a very satisfying dinner experience and will definitely be back again.

I been at the bar area many times and had a blast. Sadly for my bday celebration my friend booked the letting them know we were here for just drinks. The person on the phone said we can sit in the dining area. When we arrived they said this side will close and we can move over for the bar side. We said we can do that as we did enjoy our conversation. Later kitchen was closed the manger came and shamed us for being in the dining area. Mind you there was only a people was four people the whole areas was empty. He claimed he had to turn people away (I was look at the door and only people who came went to the bar). We were shocked as we would of moved if informed but the area was empty and past the kitchen time. I am sad to say we will not come back nor let my workplace know this place is not the place for a Christmas dinner.

We had a lovely evening at Loloan for the Parts Mostly Unknown dining experience. This was an experiential menu of 4 courses from Southeast Asia. The set menu was $99 per person and we had a cocktail each and a bottle of wine. A lovely relaxed evening with excellent service from Haley, wine recommendations from Jake, and wonderful food from Chef Sean and his crew. Wonderful evening.

We were there for their Balinese night and loved it. The presentation, service and amount of food was incredible! We hope to try the Philippines evening when it is available.

service was amazing, our server was super attentive and was helpful in answering our questions about the difficult to navigate menu. food was alright, nothing special and also ordered oysters which were a bit small and were $4 a piece.

Delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere! My wife and I did the three course meal with pairings. We re on a dry month so asked if they could substitute with mock tails and they obliged! The food and drinks were both unique and extremely tasty. Have to go back and try their cocktails next time!

We went for a south Asian-themed sampler meal which was $100 per person. Ordinarily this is out of my price range but it was for a special evening. I was not disappointed at all. The four courses were quite different and targeted every taste bud. The chef, Sean came out to explain the dishes and what flavours to expect. Our waiter Hayley was attentive and also helpful with talking us through some dishes. Sommelier Jake offered wines for each course that balanced the flavours. A great, well-paced evening with more food than we could eat!

We came here for Valentines Day and while there was some hiccups with their payment system going down and delaying us getting our table, they more than made up for it by generously giving us some free amuse bouche to kick off our meal. William was serving us, and he did an amazing job considering he got slammed with all his tables being sat all at once due to all of his tables being turned around at the same time. However, you would never know it. He took such excellent care of us and was so prompt and helpful. As always, the food was absolutely delicious. My meal came out a little bit off in terms of the usually high quality that Ive always had here, but I think that was mainly because the kitchen also got slammed and sometimes things just happen. However, they went above and beyond to make up for that, which was really appreciated. Overall, a really amazing Valentines Day experience!

Finally had a chance to visit this little gem. Hidden in Uptown Waterloo its not a large establishment, but is full of life. Décor and setting sets a great mood for a night out with friends or a special event. If you want to just pop in for a drink the bar is fabulous. It has the feeling of CHEERS except more upscale ++. The drinks are made with enthusiasm and delicious. Staff is very friendly and make you feel like they know you personally. Highly recommend stopping by.

I love the ambience of the place! Upscale, quiet, with great, very spicy food, and amazing cocktails. I was back here and was impressed anew with the chefs creativity. Such a wonderful mix of flavors! Today we had the ceviche, the scallops & pork belly, and the duck confit for appetizers, and the chicken and fish for the mains. Everything was spectacular! In my opinion, this is currently the best fine dining place in KW!

Best cocktails in KW. My husband is a very good cook, and we often are let down because he can make better food than the restaurant we go to not the case here. The food was really special. A wee bit pricy - a good spot to go for a special occasion!

Loloan has an elegant and upscale atmosphere and the waiters were attentive and knowledgeable. The Ingat Loloan Bali reminded me of old wok water - imagine a chef cleaning a wok after preparing pad thai and pouring that water into a cocktail glass. The Pegu Club had a sweet a citrus flavour but tasted like watered down orange juice. Nonetheless, capturing these asian-inspired flavours in a cocktail is no easy feat. The best part about the Malaysian Rojak was the peanut cracker.

The service, atmosphere, and food are amazing. The price is expensive but justified. The only reason I didnt give the food a full 5/5 is that the menu should do a better job indicating what is vegetarian, vegan, etc. For example, I ordered a cocktail, and to my surprise it came with fish oil. Im used to asking if meals are vegetarian, but a non-vegetarian beverage was a surprise.

Nicely appointed restaurant with friendly staff. Menu was difficult to understand and none of the dishes really evoked a novel dining experience. Prices were that of a fancy hotel restaurant, with most entrees costing in the mid $40 range.

Had an absolutely phenomenal dinner here celebrating a special event, and Will made our night absolutely phenomenal. His drink recommendations were always on point and legitimately delightful, and the food was incredible. The dishes were tasty and creative, and were very exciting. We will absolutely be going back, thank you Will and co for such a delightful dinner!

I worked with Leanne and Jodi to organize a corporate event, and I could not recommend Loloan more. Not only was the service and prix fixe menu top notch, but Leanne and Jodi were both very accommodating when it came to last minute dietary changes and guest count. They even went above and beyond to provide name cards to help our guests find their spot at the table. Will definitely be coming back. What an excellent place to go for a drink. Christian at the bar is the best bartender Ive ever seen! The whole atmosphere of the place is so great, and everyone is super chatty. Almost like youre back in the old days. What excellent management - good for the owners here. Also ... Try the sticky rice dessert!!

Nothing left to be desired. Absolute careful and deliberate execution of every plating and pairing. Our server, or host as Id like to call him, Mitchell, was passionate about the food he offered and introduced us to a number of wonderful dishes. All were D-lisch! The bar man Christian a veteran with timeless class, managed to make even the sparkling water dance on the palet. The ambiance the portions and the value we experienced will be bringing us back soon.

Fantastic place for fun, fancy cocktails. Christian is an amazing, skilled, and knowledgeable bartender who is also great to talk to.

I had high hopes for the food... And it was good, but not great considering the price. Dishes were nicely presented with a nice balance of flavour. But compared with other southeast asian restaurants where every bite is a punch full of flavour, the food here felt very mellow - almost like they were afraid of the flavours being overwhelming. I had the jackfruit, and while it was good, once I ran out of sambal, I realized that the dish was pretty bland on its own. Its a fun restaurant for the cocktails and atmosphere, but Id prefer rustic southeast asian over this any day.

Only good things to say about this hidden gem. We really enjoyed our visit a few days ago. Spectacular service. The chefs went above and beyond with an amazing sampling of different hot sauce for us. The drinks were unique and impressive. The food flavourful and unique. Great presentation as well!

Amazing cocktails!

I went here for Valentine s day with my boyfriend and it is very beautiful but it was FREEZING. The waitress said the heat has been broken for 2 weeks, which is weird that it was never mentioned before. (it is -17 degrees out) All of the ladies in the restaurant were freezing which was very unpleasant, especially for $200. The waitress is also not very knowledgeable on the food. Most of the food was very random and when asking the waitress how to eat the food for the best experience, she said just pick away at it and would walk away in a rush. Very weird experience. It s expensive, but definitely beautiful!

Went for valentines day and quite disappointed with the experience: The food was quite nice overall - nice balance of flavours overall, service was nice, but got worse as the night went on (reservation was at 9 so its understandable - still would expect better though) The main point of disappointment however is the fact that the restaurant did not have heat for a -20 degree Celsius day... server was a little overwhelmed so the food came out a little late and not exactly hot, and paired with an extremely cold restaurant it would cool down completely within a couple minutes. Girlfriend came in a dress and couldnt eat because it was so cold, and it got so unbearable we got the dessert to go so we could get out of there ASAP. Whats funny is that the server said that they didnt have heat for 2 weeks if I remember correctly, and I didnt see any portable heaters haha. Went on actual valentines day so to see there wasnt an effort on the 4th day of valentines day weekend was just sad. Aside from that, I wouldve given the food an 8/10, service 6/10, and drinks 7/10 (they looked cool and were a fresh experience, but some of them didnt taste that great).

Went for the second time today and was disappointed. Food: we were recommended the lamb and the venison. Both dishes had good presentation and the meats were well cooked, but the flavour was good yet nothing special. It felt like the chefs tried too hard to elevate the dishes and did not do a good job. The venison dish came with a piece of peppercorn, 3 small green balls of some unknown spice, and a banana leaf, none of which were edible nor added flavour to the dish. The green garnish pieces on the lamb also had some odd flavours that did it more harm than good. Service: when the server brought out the appetizer, she dropped a whole glob of salad from one of the apps. Half of it landed in my friends plate, and the other half on the table. She simply said sorry and didn t make any attempt to clean it up or top up the dropped salad. After we finished, we were trying to figure out what to do next but given that it s pretty cold outside we sat chatting for a while at our table. The server kept trying to kick us out. The ambience is nice and the food is good, but at this price point I expect more. Don t think we ll be returning.

Went in with friends. Had an amazing time and appreciated the different flavour profiles. The table beside us was complaining about everything though, acting all privileged and obviously they know nothing about the cuisine from the way they were talking about it, but they left their plates completely empty. Amazing restaurant, but filled with unknowledgeable and pretentious stupid gen z customers.

Its all in the name. Its a funky, huge, u-shaped bar with big, comfortable bar stools. Bar staff is very interactive and friendly. Great place to hang out with friends with jazz playing in the background.

An elegant restaurant offering Southeast Asia inspired (fusion) dishes and cocktails. We ordered the venison and the Javanese gudeg, both of which had great flavours and presentation. The Javanese gudeg (jackfruit) was especially notable with its interesting texture and flavours after being slow cooked in a curry. The only downside was the service, the waiting staff forgot our napkins and a component of our dish.

Enjoyed two lovely cocktails from the friendly bartender on a quiet Sunday afternoon. We had two snacks from the menu and thoroughly enjoyed our time.

The food is good, and the staff is very professional. Dont expect anything in a rush, they could have left something on the table to snack, but Id probably order the apps with the main next time

Go early and spend time at the bar, the cocktails were great. For dinner we chose to just order one of everything from the apps and no entres. Boy that was a great decision, it was a small bite of amazing from each plate. I will definitely be going back. Did not feel over priced.

The place is an experience. The menu was overwhelming but our server was patient and wonderful at describing what was available. Presentation is definitely important to them and they did not disappoint. Each part of the lamb dish was an experience for my tastebuds. Truly enjoyed the changes in flavour and texture and it came together wonderfully. A great location to celebrate but be aware that the cost is substantial.

We really enjoyed our evening here. The drinks were crafted, not just made, with care. True mixologists. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to drinks. Dinner was an adventure in fine dining. The food was well prepared, presented and flavored. Each of our meals had something to offer in variety and taste. The service was on point and brisk. We wanted for nothing. It wasnt cheap but I would say we got value for our money.

Food was spectacular and very flavorful. However, they need to have more Vegetarian / Vegan options on the menu.

What a wonderful restaurant. Food was amazing as expected. The ambiance was nice. We had a lovely anniversary dinner. Our server brought us a plate with some tiny desserts.

Best bar around, cocktail classics and some interesting new stuff. Pretty expensive for dinner but worth it for a date night, otherwise apps and drinks with friends on the patio is the way to go IMO. Cute individual bathrooms make for great selfies if youre into that sort of thing.

Presentation of drinks was nice but actual taste was disappointing, as well as fairly expensive. They also dont take credit card...beyond cheap to save on fees for a high end establishment. The bar itself is beautiful. However, this was a one and done.

Delicious food! Service and atmosphere sadly a bit lacking. Went for a celebratory dinner. Food was absolutely scrumptious, two thumbs up to the kitchen!! Would absolutely return again for the A+ food, and to try the bar area. Service was slow and a bit lacking. Very slow for each step in the process aside from seating. 10+ mins to order drinks, about 30 mins into seating to order food, etc. Felt somewhat disjointed from the price point. Speciallty house cocktails range from okay to decent. Presentation excellent. Would try others at the bar area next. Atmosphere was lovely, but overall ambiance was ruined by a large party of 10 seated in the middle of the table dining area. They were quite boisterous, requiring the adjacent 6 or so tables to literally shout to be heard across the 2ft space to their dining companions. Not romantic at all. They should have been seated in the Map room, outdoors, or in a corner/back wall of the restaurant to reduce other guests discomfort. Tables were also close together requiring uncomfortable scooting/squeezing for female guests. Perhaps better to stay on the bar side for the full cocktail experience and party scene of this restaurant during late Saturday dinner service. Bathrooms were not in great shape maintenance wise - out of cloth towels to dry hands several hours before the restaurant closed. Bathroom tissue was perched on an accessibility wall grip instead of a proper holder (no holders installed) - would expect that from a student bar rather than a $250 meal for two spot (with apps and drinks). Overall had a nice time, but with some improvements it could really deliver an amazing 5-star service in the Waterloo region!

The best service, and we appreciate their openness about staff being fully vaccinated and wearing masks. Not cheap, but worth it when you want a treat or nice date. In fact, they really care if you truly liked your food, and have top notch customer service skills, offering to do whatever it takes to make you happy. Worth the money! Ignore the fake 1-star reviews from anti-vaxxers who e-swarmed places like this.

Loloan is beautiful and the drinks are original. I had the Pho Thoi Trang (pictured), Mona Lisa, (pictured) Singapore Sling and to eat, oysters (ordered by a friend) and the Banh Mi board. The drinks were delicious and original, and the bar staff was delightful. The oysters were delicious but small. The drinks were delicious although next time Id skip the Pho Thoi Trang only because I found the fish sauce off putting. The Bahnh Mi board was good, lots of herbs (basil) on there that werent edible. Paté was delicious. Ended up ordering more baguette slices as the original amount wasnt sufficient to accompany the spreads. Was able take the uneaten bone marrow home (to feed to dogs). The ambience of the bar was great - felt like a night out in a big city bar. Drinks were pricey than other local bars but the originality made up for it. Overall an awesome bar for a night out with girlfriends.

We had a wonderful experience for our anniversary tonight. We understand that the wait times are longer during the busy holiday season, and we can confirm that the wait was absolutely worth it! We had the poached lobster and the lamb - they were both delicious. Our server, Abigail, was amazing and made our night one to remember.

Amazing menu, great service, and probably the most interesting venue decor in Waterloo region. Highly recommended! Dietary restrictions: They were very attentive to the dietary restrictions in our group, with subtle guidance and alternatives provided to the individuals impacted, gluten intolerant and other.

We ordered their oysters for our anniversary dinner tonight, half dozen raw and half dozen baked. They were phenomenal! We only wish we could eat in, hopefully next time! When we ordered, we let them know it was our anniversary and they gave us this amazing complimentary dessert. Thank you SO much for making us feel so special today.

Tuk Tuk BBQ is absolutely brilliant. Brisket was perfect and her au jus was to die for. Never had a bad experience at this place. Ever.

The food was very delicate and rich in flavor. We got an appetizer, two mains and one dessert and it was all quite good. We expected a bit more from the meats, but all in all we enjoyed our meals and the experience overall.

Service, cocktails, food: all are excellent. They even made my wife a custom dessert to fit her dietary constraints. My daughter got the white-glove experience in mock tails, which I understand challenged the bar staff as well.

Fantastic place, elegant and friendly! The food is excellent, the cocktails are very creative and delicious (my favorite one is the Butterfly pea flower). The staff is very nice. We had a very pleasant and relaxing time. We will definitely come back! We highly recommend this restaurant:)

The food is gross, the staff are rude, hair in the appetizers and when you confront them about it they say its not theirs. They are also picking and choosing who they want in their restaurants. Pure discrimination!

Food was bland and mediocre at best. Service was non existent. Overpriced for what you get. Would not recommend.

Food was relatively mediocre considering the price point. We had the 5 course tasting, and the dishes presented didnt seem to fit what I would consider the theme of the restaurant as a whole. Watching other customers dishes come out made me hungry when compared to the relatively small samples we received as part of the tasting. The food fell flat, and was relatively under seasoned. The ideas and concepts were definitely there, but missed a touch a finesse to pull it all together. Textures and flavours tended to muddle. And on one dish we were provided a side of jasmine rice I had no idea how could even integrate with the dish (considering there was barely enough flavour in the dish for itself; rather enough to also season a side of rice). Atmosphere was great, and the service was on par. But the food is what we came for, and at the price we paid, we did not get our value in terms of quality or quantity. If you go, I recommend ordering off the menu, and not getting the tasting, as the meals we saw served to other customers seemed far more substantial and interesting for what I imagine was a cheaper price as well.

Delicious food, great service, wonderful ambiance, and a relaxed atmospher for a night out. The crab was delicious, some how they got the whole shell off before frying it!

I was in this place with a friends, the food was excellent and the services , omg the waiter a guy that explains everything and God I love to saw his passion about the wine s and the food, even as tired he was (you can see that in his face even with the mask,) he made the effort to us had an amazing night. Was amazing the place is stunning and I will be back for sure a many times I can.

Would go 4.5 stars but not an option. Was looking for whisky bars in Waterloo now that Fir21 is closing up shop. Definitely an upscale place and specializing in cocktails and and whiskies. I was very pleased with our server who was able to maintain the entire bars orders and conversations with different groups throughout the evening. He had a wide array of knowledge of what I was looking for and recommended some great beverages. Dont remember the name, but he had resided in the Caribbean for some time, to the owners, this man made the visit that much better.

Ive been here a couple of times, and the food has always been spectacular. All the dishes are so flavourful and well thought-out. Its not just heres some meat and potatoes, each dish has so many components and textures for you to create different combinations for each bite. For fine dining, the portions are also quite generous. Service is also amazing. For example, they didnt bring our dessert until we were done our cocktails. Like, as soon as we took our last sips they swooped in to take our empty glasses away and then dessert was on the table immediately after. Speaking of cocktails, theyre on the strong side here! Definitely getting your value of alcohol, although this could be seen as a fault for those who prefer sweeter drinks. A genuine 5/5 restaurant, Im not even exaggerating.
