I absolutely love the Vermicelli Bowl with Grilled Chicken here! The chicken is juicy, smoky, and crispy on the outside with a perfect charred flavor. The portions are huge, and it s definitely my go-to dish. The Sugarcane Shrimp and Crispy Spring Rolls are a must-try too perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Service is fast and friendly, and the food comes out in about 10 minutes. Overall , this place is a solid choice for great Vietnamese food!

Absolutely terrible food. I ordered the pho soup and it was terrible. The broth was oily and no flavour. Just watered down. The noodles were overcooked and very little for what the portion is. The meat, which is supposed to be rare, comes already cooked and chewy. This place is not authentic at all. Do not come here for pho soup. One of the worst pho soups I ve ever tried.

Amazing bun bo hue! Great flavours and so filling. Lots of meat, a big cube of blood pudding, garnishes was pretty and not just bean sprouts but also like shredded red cabbage or something and also mint. Would definitely recommend. I had a chicken vermicelli (bun) before and that was pretty good too. Food came fast! Perfect for lunch.

Basically like teleporting to a mall in Vietnam that has a family restaurant inside. Solid Bún Bò Hu and Mango Salad. All the noodle dishes had lots of meat and portions were huge. We would definitely return to try the other dishes and maybe some of their draft beer selections!

Depends on what you order: my Grilled Pork, Spring Rolls & Shrimp On Sugarcane w/ Vermicelli Noodles was a large portion but the pork was chewy with too many fatty bits for my tastes. Service was terrible, trying to wave down servers to refill iced tea or water for our party of 6. Also really noisy and parking was a challenge after 6 pm on a Thursday. Pay debit or cash but 5% off with cash. You have to go to counter to pay and money-handler is no-nonsense serious lady. Very busy; loads of students and mostly Asian so prices must be reasonable and food is good overall. Need to step up to seating area so not accessible for wheel-chair users.

Ive been recently exploring for the best Vietnamese restaurants across the Kitchener-Waterloo Region, and the food here looked awesome, but unfortunately what I had basically made me sick. Let me explain. The menu did NOT let me know, the fish in my soup would be breaded and fried. Guys, I dont eat that kind of food, fried and battered food. It is extremely important I avoid that kind of stuff, because of my health situation. My body reacts negativity when I eat fried food, and the menu should have indicated that my fish would be battered and fried because I would have explored something else. The atmosphere looked vibrant, and some of the dishes I saw looked awesome, but unfortunately, I dont eat beef (red meat). I was hoping to enjoy a soup, as I mentioned, I am exploring for the best Vietnamese restaurant, and growing up in this region, my family loves a great healthy Vietnamese soup. Ive been interested in emailing this restaurant on what happened to me after eating their the food, and theres no options. I hope you can reply to my review, with a contact option, so I can tell you my situation. It was bad, your deep fried fish in my soup made my night feel like I was going to die, literally. Dietary restrictions: The menu should have indicated that my fish would be battered and fried. And now my soup is very greasey. I dont mine having tofu and trying vegetarian options because how delicate my body reacts to this, I didnt see those options on the menu

Best place to try authentic Vietnamese food in Waterloo

I have been searching for good food in Waterloo, and I was pleasantly surprised when I found this Vietnamese cuisine. The food is fresh, the broth is delicious, and I have tried almost all the dishes on the menu, which are all delicious. Whether its a family gathering or a company gathering, this is the top choice.

Probably one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the area. They offer a rib pho soup that was very good and came with a very large bone. I have been here multiple since its grand opening and every time it has been good. It can get busy around noon on weekends so prepare for a wait.

We had the #19 pho, #49, #54, and special #4 on the weekend specials. These were amazing... So taste... So yum. But thats where this review stops being good. The music is insanely loud, we cannot hear eachother talk. There is no service as they do the whole qr scan thing. The atmosphere is decent but DAM THAT MUSIC LOUD I cant even tell what the songs are saying its just really loud sounds. The worst part about this is the music is even more loud outside. The food is a hard carry here and if there were no music I would give this place a 4.5 stars

The staff was careless when handle food to customer, the price didnt make sense, the grill chicken a lone same price as full meal (rice + grill chicken), rude answer was given by cashier when I asked. Never go back to this restaurant.

Id give zero stars if I could. The service here is horrible. We were waiting in line for a table of 2. A group of 3 Vietnamese adults and 1 baby come in passing the whole line and was sat immediately. When I asked why they were sat before everyone else in line the lady said they had more people. I could understand if the group was over 4 people but there were people waiting with 4 people and/or less in line already. The rude lady said in return with disgusting attitude Well, your table is ready anyways. Follow me I was so annoyed by her rude behaviour that I walked right out the door. Service does not compare to the ones in Toronto. There are definitely better pho places in KW and I rather give my money to them.

Good food. Price is pricier than other photo place but their quality is better. My parents went to the Scarborough location before and there are some differences: one being menu options. The service is friendly. Note: debit or cash, no credit card.

Pho Anh Vu is hands down the best spot for pho in KW! The ingredients are super fresh, and the flavors are amazing especially the broth. Sure, its not the cheapest place, but honestly, its worth every penny. You can really tell they put a lot of care into making each dish, and it shows in how good everything tastes. If youre craving some legit Vietnamese food, this place won t disappoint!

The only thing that is good is the location and cleanliness. Went here during their grand opening and a lot of their signature dishes were sold out (which is fine). We opted for the Pho and Bun Thit Nuong Chao Tom. The meat in the bun was burnt and when mixed with fish sauce it tasted very bitter. The spring rolls and sugar cane shrimp were fine. The pho came out very fast and was okay but not amazing. It was really expensive for what it was. $17 for pho and $23 for bun thit nuong. I would rather go spend my money at Ngoc Yen in Missisauga for these high prices.

We ordered the pho. Less sour as compared to what I had in my country. They serve raw bean sprouts which we do not want as we don t eat. It will be good if the bean sprout is cooked. The pho portion is abit less, it will be good if they can increase the rice noodle portion but the meat portion is huge. The fried spring roll is good but the accompanied sauce is abit bland. But overall is good, will go back, again .

The food is very delicious. Definitely one of the better pho places in the area. Prices are higher than normal pho prices but it s worth it for the flavours. Only concern about this place is that it is not wheelchair accessible or disabled-friendly as it only has stairs to get up to dining tables. It does get fairly busy during dinner time so it is better to book a reservation.

Obscene amount of food. I personally didnt like what I ordered, but I can tell it was objectively good for what the dish was meant to be. Bad day to wear a white shirt, though.

Let me just say . The iced tea is so good. The pho is amazing (I had the beef tenderloin) the broth was very flavour, the meat was so tender. The service is so fast, and the seating and vibe is beautiful.

It s finally here, the pho we have all been waiting for! Literally one the best pho I have ever had. Meat is tender, broth is delicious with no msg, and the rice noodle is just perfect. Their mango salad is also a must try!

Although the food is quite pricey, but food is excellent, portion is decent, worth the price imo. Need more protein The background music can be improved, kinda ruin my enjoyment for the food. (clubbing vibe lol, not sure if this is their strategy of attracting the university student) I order the noodle dish S3. BÚN BÒ HU (spicy) Hue Style Beef, Pork & Blood Pudding with Vermicelli Soup It taste like light version of Laksa and Prawn noodles (if you know what Im saying), and I love it! Will come here again.

I have been to a few of this chains locations and this is the best one yet! Im happy that there is a closer location now.

Best pho I ever had!

I ve had pho my entire life, many times cooked by my mom, and I never thought I would say this. The pho here is better than my moms (sorry mom). The line was massive, but I was surprised to get a 5 minute wait time. So I waited, and boy am I glad I did. Great pho! I got the Pho Dac Biet size small highly recommend.

I ate at the main store in Toronto and kept thinking about it. Today I finally opened it in Waterloo! The soup is tender and the meat is plentiful, the spring rolls are crispy; the mango salad is delicious There are too many customers, but the service is timely and the dishes are served quickly. Now that there is an opening discount, I will come again!

Didn t expect it to be so busy on a Wednesday at lunch. However, the store handled all customers with care and the food was excellent. We will all be returning.

Food was good. Paid in cash for the 10% cash discount. Server counted the amount I paid them wrong and closed the cash register too fast for me to say anything before they gave me my change. I had to argue with them for 10 minutes as they refused to admit their mistake. In the end, they asked me to name a random amount they should be giving as change and just threw the money onto the table roughly while rolling their eyes. Never had a server give this much attitude for their own mistake, wouldn t be surprised if we see a different restaurant there next year again :/

Dinner time was busy with a long line of customers, but the service was well-organized, and we were seated quickly. The menu with pictures made ordering easy, and the food was served promptly. I tried the classic beef noodles this time the noodles were smooth, the beef was tender, and the portion was generous. Absolutely delicious! The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and the young staff were very efficient. Located right next to UW, UW students are in for a treat. Cant wait to come back and try the No.22 beef rib noodle soup next time.

I m Viet and I highly recommend this place. Every single dish that I ve tried is done well and truly authentic, unlike the watered-down version you normally find in other Vietnamese restaurants that tries to please both Viet and western customer. So if you want true authentic Viet taste, this is the place! Parking: Plaza parking. Can get busy at times.

Took a friend here for their birthday and was a great time. Service people were awesome, and menu is great. They stick to the comfort food classics of Vietnam vs doing a full Thai/viet/cambodian menu which I love (sorry Ben thanh) and they execute it well. Killer soups (better broth than pho dao bo) and simple noodle/meat bowls, would recommend!

No lie, best pho in my life(I am 23), I came for two days after they just opened four days ago. I tried vermicelli bowl as well, chicken was sooooo juicy, absolutely delicious. Please please order the one comes with spring roll, it worth it!!! Their spring roll are handmade(others pho store either buy from supplier or doesn t taste as crispy as this). the Toronto chains are supposedly good, but this Waterloo one is super mid considering how expensive it is.

Meat portion on the vermicelli were very small, the shrimp were sliced in half and they were already very small. The sugarcane shrimp didn t come with sugarcane and they were also in half. The spring roles were the smallest I ve ever seen and were very very small, literally smaller than the cucumbers. The rice paper were also very small and very thin. Their rice dishes were good portions and very good, but their vermicelli bowls are small for $30+. Food is on the expensive side compared to other over places.

The pho was delicious, and the beef broth tasted really fresh without that MSG aftertaste. The appetizers were great too the shrimp rolls were super fresh, and the crab sticks were tasty. I ll definitely be back, highly recommend!

We waited 20 minutes which wasnt bad considering how busy it was, and placed our order using the QR code at the table. I ordered the well-done beef tenderloin and flank pho, but they mistakenly gave me a special (which has the well done tenderloin, flank, and beef balls). I didnt bother saying anything because we already had to ask for the beansprouts/lime/basil twice, and my brothers pho mistakenly had no noodles in it. They were quick to rectify it and give him a new bowl of pho with noodles, but it was just strange. The pho itself was very good, but the portion size was really small. Even though I read other reviews and expected the portions to be small, I was surprised HOW small. I usually order a small pho wherever I go and dont end up finishing it, but I was still hungry after this. No one came to check up on us and see how we were doing or to ask how the food was. We also found it concerning that some staff were wearing open-toed shoes (slides/sandals).

Great food quite expensive though and was disappointed that they sold out of the special beef bone soup noodle so early in the day. Been there twice already, still haven t been able to catch it.

Avoid this place. I know that the beef in pho is supposed to arrive raw, but the soup was nowhere near hot enough to cook it. After waiting a few minutes, parts of the beef were still blood red. I told the waiter, and he took my bowl. When he returned, it seemed like all he did was nuke the pho in a microwave for 30 seconds. Still not hot enough. After waiting a few minutes, we decided to leave.

Solid 4 stars all around. I dont like pho, but I havent had it in a long time and wanted to see if that changed. The pho here is not bad. The portions are huge. The apps are probably the most interesting apps Ive had from any restaurant. I had Vietnamese iced coffee for the first time here, but I could say it tasted like both milk and dark chocolate at the same time and also a little dry. Its not bad, just a little strong for me. The service was very good. Waiter checked on us a couple times, let us know to order via qr code, and pleasant overall. Very clean inside.

We went in a party of 5 and ordered multiple dishes. The food was bland especially the pho broth and the BBH (spicy pork noodle soup). If you ve been to other Pho Anh Vu locations you can tell the difference (taste wise) is massive. The price is on the expensive side considering this is a Vietnamese restaurant.

Went to Grand Opening. A little bit of waiting was expected because of the line up. Everyone was excited to try out this new Gem Overall Appetizers were a bit expensive for small portions $16 up ( current economy sucks ) Wouldn t recommend Fresh Roll but Spring Roll and Mango Salad were But for Ph , Bún Bò Hu , any other Soup Based Food were so delicious, generous with meat portion and their sizing (Starting with $16 up depending on S, L, XL ) 9.5/10 Rice dishes definitely needed more time to marinated, it was lack of savory flavor and not really kicking yet. 7.9/10 My fam couldn t finish their food. We ended up packing up the rest and saved for another round later LOL Yes it is more pricey than other Vietnamese restaurants but their food is remarkable, authentic and close to our hometown Even the Vi t elderly approved ( As I grew up in VN ). Good atmosphere, great and speedy service. I like how they keep their menu simplified with clear highlight and pictures of each food without overwhelming whole extended list like others restaurants. Worth the money spent for the food and experiences!! Definitely my comeback spot

We ordered pho and a vermicelli dish that was $30 and supposed to feed two. The pho was great. The vermicelli dish was not worth $30. Literally half the plate is sprouts and basil. The shrimp was sliced in half to inflate the visual amount. Everything was tiny. Would be happy if this was a $15 dish, but $30, no way. Service was pretty bad, we had to wait 20 minutes to order while every server did their best not to look at us, and the pho arrived 30 minutes after the vermicelli. Then we had to wait until the person that operated the cashier machine decided were worth her time, and then we found that they dont accept credit cards (this is not mentioned anywhere). We payed cash and she didnt have enough change. Thats right, a place that only accepts cash and debit didnt have enough change. In a nutshell, the food was actually ok, but pricing and service ruined it. Not going back anytime soon.

As a Vietnamese, I guarantee this is a best pho in town. Had a small bowl of rare and beef flank today, the both was flavorful and not too sweet. Especially, they use big and flat rice noodle which is a Northern pho style . Another dish I had was a Hanoi bun cha, 10/10. Im glad they open a location here.

The place is very busy since it is brand new and its back to school at UWaterloo. However the service is super efficient once we were seated. We ordered via QR code, no server checked in on us while we were eating. Overall I was curious about this place. I am used to family-run, cheap vietnamese food but in KW its been hard to find stuff beyond pho so I really wanted to try the mixed cuon platter! Overall it still felt a touch expensive, but the ingredients were all so fresh. The herbs were crisp, I liked the tiny spring rolls.

We had lunch here on their grand opening day. Very welcoming staff, I had a lots of questions just to realize that I was given a Chinese menu but our server Dan immediately got us an English copy. The food was phenomenal so was the service, the place was packed. All the best to this new business, wish you guys will flourish. Keep up the good job!

Dont know if I got unlucky, but the raw vegetables that came with the vermicelli looked like they were left out for a long time. The vermicelli is average at best, but the chicken wings are good. Also, the price is pretty expensive for the amount of food you get.

CASH OR DEBIT ONLY!! We went on a weekday for lunch. It was a little difficult to find a parking spot in the huge lot but managed to find one empty spot. The restaurant wasn t super busy but still had a steady stream of customers that filled one section. We were seated quickly and ordered our food from a server. You can also order food using the QR code at the table. The restaurant was clean, bright and the decor was cute with the fake cherry blossom trees inside. We ordered the spring rolls, bun cha ca hai phong (fish noodle soup hai phong style), pho dac biet (special beef noodle soup) and a Vietnamese iced coffee. The spring rolls came out last after our bowls; we would ve preferred them to come out first. They were hot and super crispy. Good on their own but the dipping sauce was nice and light and added the right amount of flavour. I read that they use new oil to fry each batch of spring rolls; not sure if that s still true but I ve never had a crispier spring roll. The bun cha ca was so good!! The fish cakes were perfect. There were also battered and fried white fish in the soup as well in addition to the fish cakes. The pho was also good but didn t taste infinitely better than other phos we have had. They use beef tenderloin for their pho. The Viet coffee was too sweet and too small. If they put it in a bigger cup and water it down a bit/added more ice, it would ve been perfect. They have cutlery and condiments at the table so you can season your food how you like. I was impressed with their selection of condiments: hoisin, sriracha, fish sauce, sliced hot peppers, Pickled garlic, chili garlic and chili oil. They serve you complimentary and refillable iced jasmine tea; it was so refreshing. All the servers help out and there s always a bunch around if you need something. No one checked up on us to see how we were liking the food but we didn t mind. We were so full we had to take two spring rolls home. The portions are smaller than other viet restaurants but they do add more meat. Overall, we had a good experience. The service was quick. The food came out piping hot and you can tell it s higher quality than other pho restaurants. The herbs were fresh, the cuts of meat were more high end and generous. However, it was pricey. Our bill was $88 after tax and tip for 2 people. If we are looking to fix our pho craving quickly, we d probably go to another pho restaurant since the pho wasn t sooo much better that we can justify the price difference but we d go here when we feel like treating ourselves (or if we had a hankering for the northern style dishes; haven t seen a Vietnamese restaurant in the area with these dishes on the menu).

We ordered Bun Cha Ha Noi for take out and we have to wait 30mins for the food to be done. But when we get to the park and open it, there were only vermicelli, fish sauce and veggies, no meat!!! We were so disappointed since the restaurant were not that busy!! Like it was medium busy but staff was unprofessional!!! She gave us the ordered without checking what should be inside. When we back to ask for the meat, she have to come back to kitchen to ask, and they left the meat in the kitchen without knowing it was there!!!! The price definitely higher than the nearby restaurant but portion is not big, it medium!! It could taste better if the meat was hot and not being left more than 30mins in the kitchen without no one knowing!! Fish sauce was a bit too salty!!! In general Im disappointed!!! The location in Toronto is much better!! Hope they could improve their serves and food!

We got the bun bo hue and pho that s served friday - sundays only. For these two bowls, it came to about $50 after tax and before tip. The bun bo hue lacked flavour, smelt yummy but was disappointed when we tasted it. Also, I was ecstatic to know there was going to be pork blood in it; but there was one little cube :( The pho was also okay. It was very oily and wasn t our cup of tea. We order through QR code, no staff interaction I guess it s good if you don t want to talk to anyone lol. Overall, we wouldn t come back and wouldn t recommend. But give it a try! Don t trust one stranger s review :)

Best pho in the waterloo area by far. More expensive than iPho but the portions are also bigger

I m Vietnamese and it s really nice place with cozy atmosphere. My niece and nephew obsess with pho. But my fav dish was bun thit nuong

A nice vietnamese restaurant in the area. The restaurant is pretty big but busy. There is usually a waiting time for the table. The waiting list system is well managed. The food is serving hot and authentic. The menu is sufficient and well covered. Service is efficient. There are special dishes only serving at weekends only. Also, the amazing part is that they offer some authentic vietnamese sauces you dont always find at other vietnamese restaurant. Parking could be an issue as it is inside a busy plaza.
