The food was okay. The environment was kinda suck, like there wasn’t any AC in summer. The whole dining place was super hot.
The food was just okay but the portion size for what you are paying is not really worth it... I had the bimbimbap but it barely had any beef. My suggestion would be to review the menu before coming because of the higher than average prices.
While the food tastes good, speed and portion size when ordering through Ubereats is nothing short of a disappointment. When ordering a 7pc Yangnyeom for $32.50, it arrived with only 5pc of tiny chicken. That's right, each piece of chicken in this photo is $6.50 Similar stinginess can be experienced with side dishes. When dining in, you can order multiple rounds of side dishes, however for take out despite requesting side dishes for each person, you'll receive a single, stingy set of side dishes for the entire order. While the experience when dining in is good, I wouldn't recommend doing take out. I know I won't be doing take out from here in the future.
I ordered a KamJaTang here and it’s by far the best one I’ve had in Kitchener! The meat was so nice and soft so it wasn’t a hassle to separate the meat from the bone. The soup had a super rich flavour which made the meat and the soup have a good harmony together. Their constant music playing and the servers being so friendly made me want to visit again!!
Excellent foods taste very Korean! We visit this restaurant again and again. The cold noodles in the summer combo selection is very delicious. I forgot to take a picture of the noodles. The presentation is not as good as the food itself though.
The staff were so friendly and helpful. The most was absolutely amazing. Loved loved! The soy garlic chicken (1st picture). I'm still full from it all. Will be coming back soon 😊
A very good Korean restaurant that is slightly pricier than other places. We got the kalbitang and kamjatang, which we both loved. The kalbi was very tender and the egg and mushrooms were good. The pork was very tender too, even moreso than most other places! The restaurant is small, so in the winter it can get cold when the door opens. If the restaurant was closer to UWaterloo campus, we would go more often!
THE ABSOLUTE BEST Korean restaurant I’ve been to in the GTA. I was born and raised in Korea, and the food here reflects the authenticity and quality of food I used to get in Korea. If you get a chance, definitely give this place a visit – the quality, price, service, and the atmosphere of this place won’t disappoint you. One of the dishes I ordered was the Budae Jjigae (Army Stew). As you can see from my picture, the tofu was THICK. I also ordered stir fried squid and stir fried spicy pork, and they didn’t hold back on the proteins. Proteins are generally the more expensive ingredients so the ratio between protein and vegetable is a bit off in other Korean restaurants, but this place was really generous with the use of ingredients in all their dishes. The fried chicken here is easily one of my favourite dishes I ordered. Fried chicken sauce recipe varies depending on the restaurant, but this place’s sauce was a replica of the ones I had in Korea – this is rare in Canada, so I was pleasantly surprised. Also, the chicken pieces were HUGE!! Considering the quality, other Korean restaurants can’t compete with the price at this place. Last but not least, the service and the atmosphere of this place. The servers were so welcoming and were quick to notice any of our needs. Also, I’m really sensitive to sanitation, but everything – cups, cutleries, tables, floor, washrooms, etc. – were spotless. I can’t recommend this place enough. This place is now one of my favourite restaurants. Give this place a try – I’m confident it would be yours too.
amazing service, would Defintely recommend
Amazing
Service was very good, and food was amazing
The taste isnt bad and its nice to have a TV showing K-pop music videos.
Love the food and service! Kamsahamnida!
My go to Korean restaurant in waterloo.
Taste delicious and the service is very good as well. Only downfall would be the portions are quite small compared to the price you re paying. I wish the portions were more. Because the price you pay should match what you re getting.
Great food, service & atmosphere!
Kamjatang Pork Bone soup its really good the best Vegetarian options: Like Kim chi corean pancake Food : 5/5 |
This is the owl, the food is always fantastic, regardless of which location you visit. What we loved about our mid-afternoon lunch on Saturday the 28th was the service. Our server was so sweet. So gentle and shy. She did a fantastic job. The way she presents herself is very refreshing and we thought she was great!
Had a wonderful lunch at Owl of Minerva. I will definitely be back! The food is amazingly good
Ordered beef mushroom soup (forgot its Korean name). The taste is mediocre and the portion doesn t worth the price. I was not full walking out of the restaurant. Don t recommend this dish.
Always in love with their food!
There are many kinds of food and drinks! The taste is very good as well. I ordered jajangmyeon(black-bean-sauce noodles), pajean, soy garlic chicken, dakchulpan. All of the foods are delicious! The vibe is quite similar to Korean restaurants and so clean inside. I really recommend this restaurant. Its like a steamy Korean restaurant. If you want to eat Korean food in Canada, visit!!!! I recognize that Gamjatang is a very, very good restaurant (of course, the other things were delicious as well. Its not in the picture, but the kalguksu is very tasty because its based on beef bone)
You guys should try everything in this restaurant. It s rlly good
The Owl of Minerva is a wonderful Korean restaurant specializing in pork bone soup. Food is delicious and friendly staff. Same great taste as other locations.
Been here a few times and always receive great service and amazing food.
We usually visit the location at Mississauga. We were in the area so decided to drop in for lunch. Well I guess it is a franchise so a little inconsistent as regard to quality of food. But overall a good place to eat.
Food taste and portion size do not match up with the high prices they have. Food is ok but not great.
Good korean food around kw area
Food and service was awesome, I would definitely come back to this restaurant. I cant believe that I missed this absoutely amazing restaurant until now!!
i couldt eat their foods, so bad
MaeEun Bokeum U-dong is my favorite, 10/10 DakChulPan, and Ojinguh Bokeum are also very good. Fried chicken was a bit small for the price for me, but still good. Its like 1.5 servings so get rice or something with it. Food : 5/5
The best Korean food ever. My son and I liked everything.
The rice with veggies was great! The waiters gave a warm and welcoming service and the 20 bucks was totally worth the value here.
I love their kaarage, bibimbap, side dishes, and their friendly staff!
Great food, nice staff.
Highly recommend korean reastaurant! The authentic pork bone soup tasted rich and tasty. The seafood pancake and spicy squid were so flavourful with fresh ingredients. We also had Kalbi (marinated beef) for my four year old kid, and he loved it so much. The staff were so friendly and the atmosphere was very clean and comfortable. Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs, and booster seats. Lots of menus are kids friendly ( bulgogi, kalbi,.. )
My friend had horrible food poisoning (nausea, vomiting, extreme diarrhea) from the kimchi rice. My other friend and I were ok since we didnt have any kimchi but we also felt the quality of the food had gone down significantly compared to other locations. Edit: the response from the owner is actually really rude. If you check out my other reviews you will see that I almost only leave good reviews as I dont like hurting small businesses, but this time the experience was just so upsetting. My friend is a business owner as well and she missed two days of work due to the food poisoning. It was her first time trying the restaurant and I actually raved about how good the food was, so the whole thing was extremely unfortunate.
Amazing, mouthwatering food EVERY.SINGLE.TIME!
Professional, kind, and accommodating staff, delicious Korean food, good ambience
great food and employees are so incredibly nice and helpful. we asked about a specific food item that we ordered because it looked a little different than usual, and it ended up being completely normal but they still ended up giving us extra free food as a sorry for the inconvenience.
Food is okay, however it does not match the price. It s the most expensive Korean restaurant in town. The portion is quite small compared to other Korean restaurants. The complimentary side dishes are extremely small and bad. There used to be a the owl in uptown Waterloo. Price is reasonable and the service was superb. Unfortunately they are closed during pandemic.
Its delicious. I love Korean food, but nothing else satisfies me like this.
really yummy food and the quantity is decent too
Very friendly servers and staff. Good service and food portions.
This was great Korean food. Ordered a whole bunch for a party we had. Food was tasty and really quick to be made. My only feedback would be to label the containers (take-out) with whats inside as we had no idea. We shared everything anyway.
Used to be great. Ordered LA Kalbi last night to go and they served me burnt food. I couldnt even eat it. So terrible
Very lowkey and very tasty food. Wasn t sure what to expect but it was a nice casual dining vibe with my buddy. Food was delicious.
I ordered number 21 and it was really bad. It was supposed to be beef and black beans. There was no beef and no black beans, only a gooey black sauce. The rice portion was really small. My friend ordered the sizzling chicken and it was not as bad, but it was pricy for the amount of food she got. Not recommended at all.
Bravo
Best Korean food in Canada, must try!
Delicious food and friendly service. Will be coming back for sure! The LA Kalbi (bbq beef ribs) was very tasty.
I come here often with friends, and the place is clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is really delicious.
Having visited this Korean restaurant multiple times, I can confidently say that it consistently delivers an outstanding dining experience. The kamjatang, jeyuk bokkeum, LA galbi, and more are consistently delicious. and the staff provides excellent service. I highly recommend this place
Very bad experience especially if you are an Indian. Racism at peak. Lady who worked today didnt even asked for dining or not offered seats . Getting inside a restaurant and asking if Im Uber or for the delivery, had to fill a glass of water by walking, what a shameful racist behavior. Talking about us in their language looking at our face. Making fun of it. SHAMEFUL
Food is excellent with friendly service every time :)
Affordable and delicious, this is my new go to spot for Korean food! Love the pork bone soup here.
Good food
Excellent food, excellent service.Deffinitly will return
This place has really great food for the price, with friendly and helpful service. Definitely recommend overall. Atmosphere is 3 stars mostly because the restaurant is rather small, but overall is still a great place.
Good experience with nice servers and delicious food!!!! My friend and I really love the stir fried pork with kimchi and tofu. Definitely come back Food
every thing is perfect.
This is probably one of the better Korean restaurants in town. Everything tasted great, and the prices were reasonable. The portion sizes were pretty big, too. Definitely recommend.
Good restaurant in Waterloo
Great place to eat authentic Korean food - I love the kimchi the most, very tasty. Service is also very good - reminds of the time I was in Korea.
Phenomenal food, telling all of my friends about this place, the pork bone soup is so good, I ate until I couldnt anymore and I wish I could have continued eating it more.
I love rice with squid. The staff are very friendly.
After asking for no mushrooms due to an allergy they proceeded to not follow the request and my order jas mushrooms. Luckily I inspected prior to eating or Id be in the hospital
They say its until 10 oclock, but they dont accept customers even 40 minutes before. Put your business hours in front of your employees, not their work hours. I know roughly how expensive the seats are, but the prices are too high and the portions are small. The taste is ok too. Please post your operating hour, not employees working hours. Not accepting guest even 40min before closing? The taste is ok, but the price is way too high for such small amounts
Racism towards brown and black people . Very bad, don t even ask what I needed
Favorite Korean restaurant in KW. I especially like their Bulgogi, LA galbi and Korean fried chicken ;) Good food and good service Food : 5/5
Nice korean food place to try out if youre looking to expand your locations! Very nice customer service and yummy food ! I ordered the Spicy Bokeum U-dong, Id recommend it if youre looking for something spicier and like noodles.
The food is amazing also the high- quality service! Love it
Delicious! Kind! Clean!
Its my goto Korean restaurant!
Good food, good service, good environment OWL IS BACK! Other korean restaurant need some promotion to get me back. Food : 5/5
The ddukbaegi bowl makes Kamjatang more delicious. The soup was still boiling when it came out!!!
We had an incredibly delicious Korean restaurant in Waterloo. The gamjatang was outstanding, and the Korean fried chicken was also incredibly tasty. All the side dishes were fresh and delightful. The staff was extremely friendly, creating a comfortable and enjoyable dining experience. We will definitely visit again!
Seafood soft tofu and stir-fried pork are delicious~ Its clean, probably because its new.
great
It was a pleasant surprise to find this restaurant. I had dined previously at a The Owl of Minerva on King St, Waterloo but since the Covid pandemic, it has closed permanently. This small restaurant is newly owned and very friendly and clean. I guess it has just opened a week ago but you can already see the care and effort the staff and new owners are putting in it. I applaud their attention and their menu that caters to all diets but it is still Korean in essence. We ordered as a starter Gaeranmalyi, which is a fried egg roll with green onions, carrots and ham. I asked for no ham and it was pretty good and not greasy at all. This suits me perfectly. We also ordered Dolsot BiBimBap, an assortment of vegetables on rice with an egg all in a hot stone bowl. You can have beef or vegan options to a number of their menu selection. My husband ordered Dakchulpan, spiced stir fried chicken, vegetables on a sizzling plate accompanied with a bowl of rice. The food was very good indeed, very generous portion and not swimming in fat and msg but still tasty. As usual, the Korean hospitality brings side dishes of kimchi and other pickled vegetables to enjoy with your dishes. Everything was well served by a very kind and polite young staff. It was indeed a very pleasant experience. I wish the owners, chefs and staff a successful continuation. We need good restaurants in Waterloo that have integrity!!! This seems to be one of them. Diners, I hope you give it a try and enjoy the food and the hospitality. Vegetarian options: A lot of choices in soups, noodles and stir fries that can be vegetarian. Parking: It is a restaurant in a plaza, parking around. Kid-friendliness: Very clean, comfortable and friendly. Nice colour scheme and Korean pop videos playing on big screen. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes
The restaurant has just opened. The food here is delicious and the staff is very friendly and enthusiastic. A dinner restaurant worth experiencing.
Literally 20/10
I love this restaurant in Mississauga as well. Suji was very nice and recognized me from our last visit. Would really recommend this place. Great service and good food. To top it up: This has a better layout and better customer service for sure.
Best place to eat if you love Korean food. My taste buds are still dancing I definitely will be going back there!
10 / 10 restaurant. Perfect food and great service. I love to eat here with my family and friends
We were so happy to see Owl of Minerva in KW. I moved from Toronto and the Owl was our go to place for amazing Korean food. My favorite is the Pork Bone Soup and Spicy Pork sizzling plate ...and thats what we got this time too. The taste was exactly like the other locations and the staff, atmosphere everything was perfect!
The best restaurant ever!!!! I love this place so much!! First of all, this restaurant greets us warmly from the beginning. Its a restaurant, but it smells so good, too. The best part is that the food is really delicious!!! Gamjatang is the main food here and is the best, all of my 7 friends loved it. My favorite is stir-fried squid!! OMG sooooo delicious!! I am definitely coming here again. Please try all the delicious food here!!!
I am happy that I found the nicest restaurant in waterloo. The food was so delicious. My favorite food were Gamjatang and stir-fried squid . The meat in the Gamjatang soup was so soft and gamja(potatoes in Korean) was so savory. Oh... the stir-fried squid was so great too! I ate two bowls of rice with them. I hope everybody come and try the best food!!
It s the cleanest restaurant and the food was so delicious! Of course I ate Gamjatang which is the main food here! If you want to try food here, you should eat this Gamjatang! You won t regret it. Plus the soondae was so delicious, too! Thank Owl of Minerva Wateroo!
Hands down the best Korean restaurant Ive ever had in all of Waterloo area. I was excited to try this Gamjatang, the soup was amazing ! The appetizers like soondae was so great too! Hope everyone tries the greatest food here. Plus this restaurant is so clean!!
For me, it was the best Korean restaurant in kw area. Food were awesome, Servers were nice and kind. Grateful for your service. Will go again
So good! Got some sweet spicy chicken and pork on sizzling vegetables. Big TV with kpop music videos in the corner is nice tbh. But the food even sang louder, very flavourful and good portions. I need a raise at my job so I can keep affording to eat here. Hope you like spicy food though!
The chicken and beef at this location is halal! Confirmed at different times both in person and over the phone. Great opportunity for Muslim customers to try Korean dishes outside of vege and seafood! Food was good and the restaurant is quite clean. Excellent service as well.
Its nice to see that the owl opened up in the new location. Great taste as usual and awesome service.
The restaurant closes earlier than the stated time on Google. Would call first if youre going after 9pm. The pork bone soup was good. They had no boneless chicken during our visit which was a disappointment (the reason why we chose to eat there). Ordered the Katsu quickly because I was told the kitchen closes in 3 minutes and I had no idea what to order yet. The Katsu was bland and the brown sauce on the side has a strong flavour of ketchup taking away from other ingredients. Would not order that if youre looking for flavourful dishes. Servers were kind and the restaurant was clean.
I went this place several times and tried most of their dishes. All of them are very decent and 100% authentic Korean. Usually their dinner time is most crowded but no wait time so far and even during the busy time food comes out very fast!! Also the service is fast and helpful. I love trying Korean food and Ive been to other Korean restaurants in Waterloo, but this place is absolutely the best.
Thanks for re-opening
The food here is delicious! We have been here on several occasions and love the spicy bulgogi beef. My top Asian restaurant in Waterloo.
Food was great, and service was good too! I ve been to their other locations and this location is equally as good. We got the kimchi fried rice and black bean noodles!
The food is great! Kam ja tang highly recommended! also their kalbi and bulgogi is one of the best I had! The staff are so friendly and especially the managers! I always eat there whenever before or after my shift at Later Pizza
Wolves
the food is yummy! and the staff were very attentive. it s a little pricey knowing i can make this stuff at home but it s a fun restaurant experience ^_^
Highly recommended
Spicy chicken go crazy Lil expensive doe Food
Got food here today and it was not good, I got fried rice and shrimp and the rice was so bland and there was barely any shrimp. Went back to the place and the one worker was very rude, horrible costumer service. I will NOT be coming back that s for sure.
Owl is my favourite Korean restaurant in kw area. Food was excellent and servers were nice and attentive! 10/10 recommended
My mom and cousin got really bad food poisoning from the pork bone soup. Brutal diarrhea, vomiting. Ive never seen such brutal poisoning in my life. The food is okay but absolutely not the risk.
JMT the spicy pork was very awesome
Very nice place. Taste is always amazing! Servers are so friendly
This place has amazing food! We got the bulgogi and deep fried chicken. The portion size was good for the price and the food was very tasty! I ll definitely be coming back to try other items on the menu. I am so glad that I have found good Korean restaurant.
Parking: Theres Ushibei next to him
nice
I come here to eat very often. They have a good portion size here. The price seems a little pricier than other places, but for a generous portion size and side dish, I think it is worth it. Spicy food are actually spicy (Asian standard), so I really enjoy their spicy food. Highly recommended.
Their Bulgogi is really good. Really appreciate the kind service and the kimchi + cucumbers that comes at the start. It is however on the more expensive of Korean food in Waterloo (21$ for the Bulgogi).
yummy food had the hotpot
Very tasty food and nice service.
it was a great experience. food was delicious! definitely coming back here again
Great dinner! Very yummy food & great service!
yummy! got the squid fry and army stew
Very Very good
The Dak Chul Pan is a must. Best food in town!
Great restaurant, amazing food, and nice service! A must try
The beef rib soup is really good, the staffs are very friendly. Definitely recommend :)
The food here is good
Bulgogi was delicious. Good kimchi. Service and food came quickly and our server was very welcoming.
Food was bussin, big fan of the kimch
I ve been eating here since 2015, originally they were located on Regina Rd and now has moved to here this new location. I love all the food here especially the Kim Chi soup with the beef ribs. I love the new location and customer service. Would highly recommend to check out this restaurant.
Excellent, authentic Korean food.
Our best go-to place in town. Love!
