Its my favorite pho in KW!

The wife & I were in the area looking for some comfort food and we found it at this hidden gem. If you haven t tried this restaurant yet, you re truly missing out. True professionals & passionate about their food. We ordered their crispy spring rolls, hot & sour soup, shrimp pad thai, Khao Soi and of course our personal fave Nasi Goreng. In my opinion, there s no finer Thai dining experience than this place, especially if you re in the Waterloo Kitchener area. We will be coming back for more soon!

Very courteous staff and delicious food

I ve eaten here before and thought their food was decent, but this time around I tried the Khao Soi with chicken for takeout. The service was friendly and pleasant, the packaging was neat and well separated, the curry was piping hot and full of flavour, the amount of noodles and chicken was generous, and the price was very fair. One of the best bites I ve had in Waterloo in a very long time.

Gave so little chicken for the red curry; $5 for 5 pieces of shrimp, $1 per piece XD? Not to mention the rice is soggy af, it s literally sticking together.

The pad thai had a weird sauce which is very sour; the worst pad thai that we had for a long time. The pineapple fried rice was also very salty. The pad kee mao and cashew nut stir-fry were decent.

Ordered takeout and most dishes were truly subpar. The tom yum was watery. Green & red duck curry were lacking in flavour and meat did not taste fresh. The crispy egg noodles that went with the khao soi were stale. Papaya salad and the rest of the khao soi were acceptable. Overall, I was disappointed and wouldn t order from them again.

Fantastic food but they consistently dont pick up their phone for pickup orders. It is always disappointing when this happens.

Nothing about this food is Thai. Chinese food basically. Flavors are all wrong. Service and cleanliness were horrible. Chef was on lunch at 3pm and we waited 30 mins after being told 10. For him to start his shift again.

Amazing food and amazing staff! I initially ordered pho but they were out, it turned out to be a blessing because the waitress recommended the Khao soi which I could not have loved it more! The Khao soi is a definite must have and i ll be going back for more soon!

The food was excellent but customer service was really bad. We had been to this place before but nobody treated us like that. There was a tall person wearing glass he didnt know how to greet customers we felt so bad. please learn some basic greetings its very important when you serve food. Vegetarian options: They have very good veg options too.

Food was good, portions were large, service was fast, overall a good experience. Ive had better Khao Soi but theirs was still great. The aromas were great and the flavours were great. I wish it was a bit more creamy and a bit less oily but I still enjoyed it. Friend got pad Thai and they enjoyed it as well.

Got a red curry and the chicken was so rubbery. With that being the only ingredient in it, the entire dish was ruined. For $20 this was the worst curry I have ever had.

Please check tofu expiry. Had to pick it out of my Pad Thai today because it tasted off, and have been sick all night. Order from here regularly and normally love the food. Update: The manager at Red ginger dealt with this issue fantastically. I was offered a credit, and the issues with the food were dealt with immediately. Thank you.

Kind of a disappointment, especially if youre vegetarian. They have a good vegetarian noodle soup, which hits the spot when youre sick, however their Thai staples just arent great. Their vegetarian pad Thai is literally just noodles, sauce, and tofu. They dont even add bean sprouts let alone any other vegetables. It costs the same price as the non-vegetarian pad Thai which has chicken, shrimp, and egg. Its such a rip off, that instead of charging a base price and uncharging for various proteins, they just skimp out on ingredients, and dont even include vegetables. Their dishes arent as advertised either. For example, the spring rolls say they contain glass noodles, taro, etc. But the one I ate was literally 100% cabbage with one shred of carrot.

This place had amazing food had the curry pad Thai and for under 20 bucks it was alot of food and super flavorful.

Fantastic food and service. Food came piping hot but splattering oil everywhere which cna cause a burn. On the positive side I knew my food was hot and it carmalized the under food nicely. My 1st time here and Ill be back.

I recently dined at Red Ginger, and it was a delightful experience. The service was impressively quick, with orders arriving in about 15 minutes on average. I tried the Chicken Pad Thai, Singapore Noodles, and the Sizzlin Beef, featuring tender flat-cut beef in a flavorful sauce with bell peppers. The food was not only tasty but also had a perfect level of spiciness, adding a delightful kick to the flavors. The staff was friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere throughout the meal. Annie our server recommended Khao Soi and Bami Goreng. This was the absolute best Thai food we have EVER had! Annies recommendations were spot on and she was extremely friendly and a FANTASTIC server. We will definitely be back! Food

Always been my go-to place for Thai food since I moved to the area. I havent ever dined in, but theyre always super friendly over the phone and quick to make the meals. The dishes are slightly pricey, but its hard to blame them because the cost of food is insane right now, no matter where you go. Will always continue to visit. Highly recommend!

I walked in , sat down with my wife and 3kids. The first thing the server told me was that since I have a family of 5 they were going to charge a 15% gratuity. I got up and walked away with my family. Gratuity/tip should always be optional, not mandatory

Finally tried the Red Ginger and it did not disappoint! Amazing food. The best red curry dish I have had and the service was superior with extremely pleasant staff. Will definitely frequent here and highly recommend.

Best Thai I ve had since Koh Samui! Massaman chicken curry & bami goreng were delectable with perfectly spiced flavours. The mango salad was so good (but a tiny bit too sweet after a lot of it). Our server was lovely as well. Seems like a popular take out spot too right by Costco.

Honestly one of the best pho Ive had. Unlike most Thai restaurants, the pho had a lot of noodles and a good amount of meat. The soup base was great and was completely full afterwards which is usually not the case. For the price, you get a decent amount of good quality food.

Came here a few days ago with my boyfriend and the food was delicious! Got the Sizzling Beef and Pad Thai. The Staff were very friendly and the service was quick! Also their Thai Iced Tea is delicious! Overall would recommend them for sure :)

I came here for lunch and I really enjoyed it. They have lunch specials until 3pm. The place is smaller with maybe max 10 tables. I ordered the Khao soi and beef stir fry. The Khao soi was amazing!! You could really taste the coconut milk and curry. It came with lots of egg noodles, a few pieces of beef, a hard-boiled egg, fried noodles, etc. My only concern was that it was served in a small bowl with not enough broth. The noodles absorbed all the broth. I ended up taking half my soup home and added more broth. I still highly recommend the Khao soi! The beef stir fry was part of the lunch specials. It was also served with soup and an egg roll. The egg roll was crunchy and the soup was sweet and sour. I would order from this place again and try other menu items

Item for one: Cantonese Chow Mein. The flavours were there and I was very satisfied with the size of the portion for the price. What brought it down to 3 starts was the lack of crispness in the bed of crispy egg noodles the quantity used for topped with our house soy sauce made me think I had received a soup based dish I was incorrect. In regards to the vegetable toppings. I cannot speak on brocoli as it was understandably unavailable. The onions and non choy were cooked to a very enjoyable degree. The size of the carrot slices were quite inconsistent so it led to some being quite soft with some being par cooked and some being nearly raw. A trend with all of the prior mentioned vegetables (excluding broccoli) was they were all extremely large to the point where it was a struggle to get some vegetables in my mouth as they had come. The only perfect vegetable from my perspective were the mushrooms. I don t frequently enjoy mushrooms however it seemed like the only topping I could get some with the noodles and have a balanced bite. The chicken was nothing special. Large chunks that were easy enough to break smaller however they could still maintain their size if that s something you prefer. It was cooked well and with the abundance of house soy sauce it had enough flavour to satisfy the mouth when eaten with noodles. A note for all of the toppings. It may have been the abundance of liquid that confused me, but it seemed like all the toppings had been steamed or maybe even microwaved before further cooking. I can t speak on service as I had it delivered however there seemed to be very little care taken into the food for 3:30-4pm on a Monday. I will definitely not be trying delivery from here however if I find myself in the area. I may physically go in and try some other things. There s enough potential to keep my interest but I will never get this dish delivered

This was the first time my mother and I came here and The food was delicious! And our waitress Annie was an absolute delight! She was so sweet and funny just our type of person! I wish more people were like her it makes me want to go back!!

Ordered Thai takeout last night. Probably the worst thai I have ever had. The food was bland and just plain terrible. Didnt even keep leftovers, just threw the rest out. Very disappointing. $90 with tip. I ordered based on reviews. Never again..

I placed an order by phone moments ago and was assisted by Noot. I havent even picked up my order yet, but I had to write a review because she was so patient, informed, and delightful. I also know the food will be fantastic because I dined at the restaurant two days ago and loved the food so much I had to indulge again immediately! Im so impressed the service at Red Ginger Waterloo is as stellar as their food!

Amazing surprise added to our online order! I thought it was extra rice but they gifted us two very large spring tofu rolls! Wow! Thankyou!! And so fresh! Ordered the red curry with shrimp and beef flank, and two coconut lemongrass soups - all absolutely delicious and plentiful. 2-1 jasmine rice offer was great too because it was a huge portion, so have lots of leftovers for meals. I suggest a green curry if you like hotter, as I find their red curry to be more mild than medium, but it s a matter of taste. Love this place.

Had the Pad Thai , tom yum soup, spring rolls and Red Curry. The food is really good and you can adjust the spices. The spring rolls were serendipitously good - better than expected. Pad Thai and red curry were really good - next time I will try the Khao soi given other reviews raving about it - It is a small neighborhood vibe restaurant with really good service and freshly made food. Overall good for lunch or a dinner with family. Will return for a second round!

Amazing service and people. Places is small but clean and neat. Food was bland though. Pad Thai tasted more of ketchup, nasi goreng and pineapple fried rice was very bland. Most of the dishes lack salt and flavour. Chicken satay sauce was very watery, Cantonese chow mein tasted bland as well. Red curry lacks flavour of spices as well. For the price we paid, I think the portion should be bigger. Sizzling beef and fish tamarind were decent, the only two dishes that we could taste a semblance of flavour. A little disappointed as we were expecting more flavour from a Thai restaurant

I feel bad for writing this review because this place has always been great. I ordered the pad thai a week ago though and it was inedible. I gave them another chance and got the pho and it too isnt something I can eat (chewy meat, soggy noodles etc). Pretty disappointed.

This restaurant is absolutely amazing, Went in for crab rangoon, By far one of the best Ive tasted. Ordered chicken Spring rolls as well sauce is Delectable, Their house salad is quite good as well. We ordered take out at Red Ginger and couldn t be happier! When walking in there was just the cashier who promptly greeted us. She was friendly and very efficient with taking our order. We ordered her recommendation (Bami Goreng) and it was delicious! It was rich, creamy and comes with satay chicken skewers. Incredibly flavourful and fresh. My husband who is not usually a fan of thai food (especially when it s too sweet or spicy) loved it. It has the perfect balance of sweet and savoury. We will be back.

I ordered takeout from UberEats, and without realizing, had placed the order about 15 minutes before closing time. To my surprise, when my food arrived, a free box of fresh rolls had been added to my order! And they were delicious :) I also ordered the red curry and the mango salad, both of which did not disappoint. Food was still hot when it arrived too. Will definitely order from here again.

Ordered pad si ew (chicken) for 17.50 and spicy noodles (beef) for 17.50 just to get soggy, tasteless rice noodles with 3 pieces of beef and chicken, basically you are paying for bland rice noodles, OVERRATED and OVERPRICED

I ordered a strictly vegetarian meal and received chicken all over my noodles instead of tofu. When I called to let them know the staff was extremely rude and unpleasant to deal with. Would not buy from here again.

Delicious food. The chicken spring roll was the best I have ever had! The Thai basil and chicken dish with rice provided enough food for 2 plus some leftovers. Definitely a shareable meal.

Fresh, flavourful, wonderful food. Friendly, polite and welcoming staff. I would recommend Red Ginger again and again.

Worst customer service ever. These guys talk to people like they own them. Not sure how they are in business. The girl who picks up the phone is the rudest person on the planet. Matter of time they will be out of business. Wish they could be given a 0 star rating. Do your part and say no to bad customer service by avoiding them completely.

A quick comment on the service provider: I asked for a dish to be made without peanuts or eggs due to allergies. They ended up giving me the standard version of the dish which includes those ingredients. By the time this was realized, I was halfway home with two cranky kids in the car -- I wasnt turning around to exchange the dishes. The manager drove out to make the exchange personally (30 minutes round-trip). Great example of customer service!

I have been to Red Ginger a few times now, and I enjoy their Thai food. The Pad Thai is excellent. Its a very small restaurant, but what they lack in decor, they make up in quality of food. I had to ask for hot sauce for my Pad Thai, for those that dont like spicy the way I do that would be a plus. I will continue to eat there.

**EDIT: I decided to lower the rating after all, since my partner and I both seem to have a touch of food poisoning today. Im also not certain Id order from them again at this point.** I was leaning towards 3 stars for this place but my partner ranked it 4.5 stars so Im going somewhat in the middle for the 4 stars. I did not enjoy this place very much. I ordered the Pho and it was not nearly as good as the homemade Pho Ive had. Ive only ever eaten one persons homemade Pho, so Im not an expert, but I would definitely pick my friend Doans Pho over this one. I also asked for no cilantro because I have the gene that makes it taste like soap, and there was a noticeable amount in my meal still, which was disappointing. My partner got the drunken noodles. They were too spicy for me but were definitely tasty. He clearly enjoyed them. I will say, the portion sizes were incredible. I got a large for my meal and there was so much food. I wouldnt get the Pho again but I would try getting other things from Red Ginger

Tried to order on Door Dash. Estimated arrival time went from 30 minutes to 75 minutes after already waiting for 20 minutes. Complete incompetence.

One of the best restaurant made red curry I have ever had. The pad Thai was tasty too.

It is my favourite takeout place in the area. I usually get the house pad thai or the cashew chicken and they are delicious. If theyre not busy Ive had orders be ready in 15 minutes but on weekends or on holidays it can take up to an hour and sometimes the dish isnt as awesome compared to the off peak days but still worth it.

Edit: changed my review from 2 to 3 stars. Went back for another try, ordered the spicy eggplant. Was your standard-sized rectangular plastic container, filled to the brim, still crazy oily but because its eggplant Ill allow it, but with taxes and $1 tip (always try to tip, if you can! ) this one little dish came to a few cents shy of $15. No rice, no extras, nothing. I was appalled at the value but perhaps this is the new normal, esp with quarantine leading to huge government bailouts, huge printing of money and massive inflation/devaluation of the Canadian dollar. WARNING: If you want your food to not be crazy oily, try to ask for less oil!! Original review: Ive had Thai food all my life at restaurants in various corners of Ontario. Of note are the cities of Toronto and Newmarket. These two cities have amazing competitive markets, pushing the quality to greater and greater heights. Call me spoilt, but this was the worst Thai experience ever. The food was incredibly oily and salty. (Which is REALLY saying something, because I usually love foods drenched in oil n salt). The flavors were otherwise good, but I was very disappointed in the amounts of oils everything was sloshing around in. We ordered a fried rice dish, an eggplant, a mango salad (waaaaay way way too much sugary syrup added), and a seafood dish. Yes, these things are supposed to have oil, but not THAT much. That was crazy. I was sorely tempted to return everything and ask for our money back.

If I could give this place a 0 I would. Service is terrible. Walked in for my pickup order only to have the employee scream at me and argue with me about my mask exemption and demanding I stand outside and wait in the cold. Then I payed and left, got home and the noodles were so dry, and the shrimp smelt very bad. To speak to a paying customer this way and have the food be such bad quality, I will never be giving them my business again. Disgusted.

I love Red Ginger, they are consistently the best Thai around. One of our favorites for take out. Did you know their delivery containers (other than being the really good study type) are made in Canada. This stuff matters! Highly recommend.

I was visiting Kitchener today and passed by Red Ginger. I pickup several dishes here for my family and also some for my sister who lives in Guelph. The food did not disappoint even down to the veggie spring rolls & sauce that came with the lunch meals were delicious! I would highly recommend this place. The staff were very accommodating and very courteous. They even took my call afterwards and took time to clarify the ingredients due to allergies. Wow. Im so disappointed of the food I recieved today. We are new to Kitchener and are huge fans of Thai food. I have tried Thai food from many different places across Ontario and this is probably the worst iv had. I ordered the spicy noodles and according to their description it should have a spicy sauce with various veggies in it. As you can see from.the image, it was basically boiled noodles with boiled beef.. completely tasteless. I am really sorry to give this review because I know restaurants are suffering right now but I just had to say something...

We had the red curry lunch special and spicy duck. Both were delicious, and the lunch special was pretty good value although I wish it came with a different choice of soup since I m not a fan of hot and sour soup.

This restaurant is amazing! I have tried pretty much every single plate from the menu and can tell you they are simply the best Thai you can find in the area. Additionally, plates are very generous!

I ordered pho not too long ago and ended up with food poisoning. Definitely not impressed with my experience you guys need to get your stuff together I work around food every day of my life and this should never be something that a company comes across.

What a fabulous dinner we just enjoyed! This is our first time ordering from Red Ginger but it definitely wont be the last! The Thai Spicy Stir Fry had just the right amount of heat and the Panang Curry was delicious. The Mango Salad and Singapore Noodles were very well prepared. I cant wait to try more from the menu!

Hands down the go to place when youre craving freshly made khao soi and shrimp rolls!

Order was supposed to have extra shrimp but it did not. When I asked for a refund I was told they count the shrimp before bagging. There was not extra shrimp.

I ordered delivery today, I don t know what they put in their pad Thai, they may put sugar instead of salt it s way too sweet. I don t how a pad Thai can taste this bad, I have to dump it.

Best Thai food hands down! Our favourites are black bean stir fry, tamarind stir fry and drunken noodles. As for drinks the Thai tea is unique and tasty!

Only giving them 2 stars instead of 0 because their server is very nice. Otherwise the food is terrible. Ordered lunch specials for 4 people. Every single dish was excessively sweet, to the point that they might as well call themselves Sweet Ginger instead. Also, have you ever had Pad Thai made with ketchup? Like actual Ketchup? You can find that experience right here. Itll be that one Pad Thai whose aftertaste youd still be remembering with disgust 80 years from now. Ive ordered from lots of Thai places and thought itd be impossible to do Pad Thai wrong. Turns out at Red Ginger, they make the impossible possible!!!!! Ive had bad Pad Thai, Ive had sweet Pad Thai, but Ive never had Pad Thai made with Ketchup... Like wow. I wasnt expecting anything beyond an ordinary fast-food takeout going in, but this place honestly blew my mind with their creative (and disgustingly sweet) reinventions of Thai. I now have a much better understanding of Jordan Petersons bad is still a long way away from hell. 10/10 would go again, but only with my worst enemy.

I was really hoping the reviews were lying:( I dont mind the sweetness but the sauce is watery and lacks flavor. (Not a good sauce) should be tangy and sweet. Maybe you guys should revamp it sorry:(

Best curry Ive ever had. I had the yellow curry, cant wait to try the red and green.

We had the dinner for two. Three of us shared it. Pad Thai noodles were a bit too sweet for us but delicious nonetheless. Green Curry was awesome. Service was excellent. Highly recommended. Wld like to be given a choice of how spicy we wld like our food.

The best Thai food in town.

Coming from the GTA where there are a lot of Vietnamese and Thai restaurants I thought this would be your typical spot with competitive pricing but stingy portions. Not the case at all. The portions are definitely generous with good quality and presentation. The staff was cool and friendly and they also do a lot of SkipTheDishes and UberEats order. Definitely visit them and do take out to support them directly.

Order took about 25-30 mins on Friday which if fine, we ordered the panangg curry - you have to order rice for a charge as curries don t come with it also ordered curry fried rice. The flavour of the curry was pretty good, my only issue was that it would nice if they had other vegetables with it but they had lot of tofu. The fried rice was good huge quantity, enough for two. The quality of the food is pretty good, especially the fried rice for fried rice. You can tell it s fresh. I m glad I found this place.

This is so good, I never have photos to post! Their Massaman Curry with tofu and Veggie Coconut Thai soup are delicious, kids love pad Thai and fried rice. Plus the service and people there are always super nice!

Very good takeout. I ordered the Green Curry with Chicken, Coconut Shrimp and plain rice. All was delicious. The green curry was milder than some Ive had, but very tasty. The dipping sauce for the coconut shrimp was also excellent.

The Red Ginger never disappoints. Order a variety of food on a Friday evening. Delivered by Door Dash. Food was hot, tasty and portions were very generous. We have never had a bad meal from Red Ginger. Highly recommend it.

Everything is excellent every time I get take-out for 2 or 3. I usually order yellow or red curry with chicken (and Jasmine rice), pad Thai with tofu or chicken, fresh shrimp rolls, mixed vegetables and mango salad (no protein). I order extra because the left-over are delicious!

Ordered here on DoorDash last night and wow! Super impressed - packaging was nice - food was still hot when it arrived - food was fantastic. Chicken skewers with the peanut sauce Coconut soup with shrimp and the coconut breaded shrimp was amazing and the boyfriend ate all his Chicken Pad Thai in one sitting(hot spicy was hot and spicy lol) Definitely will be ordering from here again. Door dash initially estimated 30-40 minutes but the food arrive in less than 20.

The basil beef fried rice was not even fluffy or fried through: there were lumps of mushy white sticky rice. The quality of takeout food at this Red Ginger has progressively gone down.

Khao Soi!!

Just discovered this location, closer than the Kitchener location, which has been my favorite in KW for years. Usually we order fresh rolls, pad Thai, curries and mango salad - all great flavours. Tonight my mom wanted pho. A little more expensive than a pho joint but she enjoyed the flavour just as much as our usual pho place. Well be back.

Delicious food for a great price! We ordered Red Ginger again last night and as per usual it was delicious. They have a number of vegan options including all of their curries, their spring rolls and fresh rolls, and their pad thai (omit the egg). Our favourites are the green curry, pad thai, spring rolls and ginger stir-fry.

Excellent service. Great food. Mango salad is excellent.
