The food is amazing, my favorites are the tomyum soup, 110, clear glass noodles and shrimp rolls. I have tried new things on their menu each time i visit and they never disappoint.
Authentic, quality Viet-Thai food at decent prices. Ive eaten here for many years and always enjoyed my meal. The flavours are delicious and the menu is big enough to try new things all the time. I highly recommend the Mango Salad, Beef Pad Siew, and the Meat Lover Vermicelli Platter.
The restaurant is conveniently located near to the shopping mall. The place is spacious with plenty of tables and chairs. Food is very delicious and tasty.
I have gone here a few times. For the most part it has been pleasent and good food. However, I just visted with 2 other guests and had a big issue. Rocks where cooked into one of the noodle dishes. The person bit into one rock which alerted us, then we looked through the food and found even more rocks. This was very gross. When we told the server they apologized and told the manager and kitchen staff. The manager then, without ever coming to the table, took only the meal with rocks found in it off the bill. We then asked for the manager to come over, as this was not a small issue. When she came over she said there was nothing more she could do, and did not know why rocks would be in the food. We then told her we would not be coming back and had photos of the rocks, at which point she said she would talk to the owner, and asked that we delete the photos of the rocks (extremely unprofessional). In the end, we got an apology with 2 meals taken off the bill as this is all they said they could do. I would have recommended this restaurant in the past, but after some small issues in previous years and now this, I will not be recommending but rather warning of this restaurant. Mistakes do happen, and it's understandable but the combination of multiple rocks being found and the pour handling of the situation from staff will mean me and my guests will not be returning.
Went here for dinner with a group of friends, we all got smoothies, coconut mango and strawberry and they were so yum. The classic beef pho was also amazing, super flavourful broth. I think i also saw a little robot waiter or dish cart which was funny. Human servers were very quick and friendly too. Dining room was pretty, a little loud but that’s okay cause it was fast and yummy! Price was pretty good for how full we all left. Stop here if you like soup.
Pho Ben Thanh was literally my favorite Pho place when I first discovered Vietnamese food....but I feel the prices and quality have dropped off from yester years...still a decent place to go but I feel the prices don't reflect the product anymore and it's sad really ...still decent but not really worth it anymore in my humble opinion
Great place with a variety of Vietnamese and Thai food. I went twice to try their pho, spring rolls and fresh spring rolls. Their pho is very good with a fatty broth and meat. It has a nice mouth feel to it, but it's certainly heavier than other pho's I've had. You have the option to replace the broth with a few other options. I tried the sate, and it was nice. However, most Vietnamese restaurants offer sate/chili oil on the table for you to season the broth yourself. If you want this, ask for some sate on the side. Unfortunately you have to pay $1.5 for this. Most places offer this seasoning for free. The spring rolls and fresh wraps are delicious. The spring rolls come with a sweet chili sauce (Thai) instead of the usual fish sauce dip (Viet). The peanut sauce for the fresh wraps is well made.
Wide variety in the menu and product offerings, great taste, value-for-money portion sizes and super prompt service (staff behaviour could be a hit or a miss but they try their best). Busy restaurant on the weekends and we saw a lot of delivery orders being sent out. Family friendly seating options and good offerings in the soft/bubble tea drinks section as well.
Best Pho in town.
We ordered the popcorn chicken ramen and it was amazing.
Lady working in the front is unprofessional and has bad attitude
My go-to Thai food place for years. Extensive menu with many different flavors. Tom Yum, Pho, Spicy Basil Beef, and Singapore Chicken are my favs. Oh and dont forget to oder the BBQ pork rolls for an app!
Amazing experience ! For a great price.
I asked my waitress why there was only one single piece of tendon in my soup and she said that s because I ordered a small . Is that a reasonable answer?? What does the size of the soup have anything to do with that? I will let people reading be the judge .
Amazing as always. Fast service
Fantastic Pho and Thai food - great speedy service! Have been coming here for almost 20 years!
Unfortunately we found a cockroach in one of the soups that we ordered last weekend when we were there. After seeing the other reviews, this is not the first time it happens. Can t believe this place is still open.
Edit(2024): (changing from 5 star to 1) This restaurant used to be awesome! You can see my previous review from 4 years ago below! Unfortunately, past couple of times I have been there the food has been horrible and very disappointing! ! Pad Thai doesnt have any flavour, the curry is too runny! Rice is simply garbage! The atmosphere is no longer the same! Furniture is old and crappy. Bathrooms are not clean! I will not be going back. My old review from 2019-2020: Good food! fast service! A lot of people go there for lunch break specially on Fridays! So make sure to book a table or you might end up in line!
Always an enjoyable meal!
Food is amazing i definitely cannot go wrong with that however some of their staff is extremely rude and seem like they get annoyed when you ask for something
Horrible service from waitress gets annoyed anytime you ask for something.
The service at the restaurant was good but we found a large cockroach in our soup which was very disgusting
Was so good it made me forget about my divorce
Super delicious, pai thai is moderately sweet and sour and not too spicy. The portion is bigger than it looks. I had a full meal and a half. edit: I went to eat pho before, and when I took a bite, I found a fly floating in it. The waiter gave me a different bowl, but I ate half of it and found that there was another fly inside. I really cant stand it anymore and I wont go there again.
The food is always delicious at the Ben
Found ROCKS in the food. when brought to the attention of staff, we had to ask for the manager to comeover. To which she responded with asking me to delete the photos. I was here with 2 other guest and only got 2 of the meals taken off the bill after complaining multiple times. The whole experience was aggravating, gross, and unprofessional. Would definitely not recommend this place nor be returning.
The food was succulent: the pad thai had genuine flavours with a combination that makes you feel as if you re in heaven. Furthermore, the fried rice and chicken kebabs exceed any other Thai food restaurants in the country. My bus boy was also very sweet and had swift and kind service.
Excellent food and a very large selection of Vietnamese dishes. Service is usually good and the atmosphere is pretty spacious as well. Prices did increase over the past few months.
1/5 stars. Awful experience picking up an order at 8:20 PM. The lady at the counter ignored me completely and was downright rude when she finally acknowledged me. Although I communicated with two other staff members who were polite, the unprofessionalism and dismissive attitude of the lady made the experience incredibly frustrating.
Great Ramen and Noodle Soups. Staff always friendly. Decent prices. Regular visitor, never disappointed.
Look no where else because this is the best Ben Thanh from all of the other ones. The portion is generous, the beef brisket and broth is what set this place different from the other Ben thanh. Althought the only thing I could suggest about the broth. I do wish it was a tad less sweet. I think that would be really good as well. but other than that, amazing pho overall. its my go to in Kitchener/ Waterloo
My husband and i went to grab something quick and tasty. We ordered the Green Curry Chicken and Red Curry Beef. It came with salad and rice and there was plenty of food. It was delicious and we would definitely be returning.
Great dishes for reasonable prices.
great place. the short rib ramen is delicious. their portions are very generous and prices are reasonable.
A great place for pho soup . Great service, fast and fresh. Been going here for well over 10 years and Ive never had a bad experience.
I love Vietnamese Soup & it was excellent. Ive been eating this soup since I was a Teenager, so I know what Im talking about. As for the the Tai food my friends enjoyed it, no complaints. Nice Restaurant. Food
Mango salad is delicious
I love the spring rolls
Love the spring rolls (501), the 136C Tom Yum soup (especially if I have a cold), and the Red Curry Chicken. I also recommend the passion fruit slushie with passion fruit jellies. Ive been coming here for 8 years and have had very few disappointing experiences. It is a favourite of mine and many of my friends...I prefer the atmosphere of the Cambridge and Kitchener location, but the food at the Waterloo restaurant trumps the others.
The lady picked up the phone for takeout is really rude. Dont know why they have to charge 18% tips for groups over 6.
We have go-to choices here, but always agree on the spring rolls - always tasty. Sometimes service is slow for take out orders. On my last order, made 25 minutes in advance, I still had to wait over ten minutes at the restaurant to pick up... almost 20 minutes after the guaranteed time.
Delicious, very suitable for Vietnamese taste
Recommended
good food and reasonable price
My husband and I stopped by super late, within an hour of them closing and they let us dine in which was so nice of them. Food came out super fast and fresh. Definitely coming back next time we re craving pho :)
Great food and service
Food was excellent. The host was a bit abrupt, but our server was very friendly and efficient. Our appetizer was served with our meal, which wasnt expected. Service was quirky, but it wouldnt stop us from going again. We go to the Guelph location often, and find the service there to be much better.
This place as been a family favourite for going on 8 years, however I ordered my usual tonight and disappointed is an understatement. I always get the spring roll vermicelli bowl and add BBQ chicken, and have for eight years. However it seems that in the couple weeks since Ive had it, theyve introduced some new contemporary type of style. Half of what used to be noodles got replaced with a sad, warm, spinach and green apple salad (?). Ended up just taking it out because the thought of warm salad make me feel grossed out. It was disappointing when they stopped adding bean sprouts, but this is a new level. Please go back to making it the old way!
Great food and fair price , staff was very friendly
I got their shrimp pad thai, I gotta say it was pretty light on the amount of shrimp. Also a bit expensive too (I think it was like $18 before tax). Id recommend Pho Sunrise if you want the pad thai since its cheaper there.
The food is amazing but the service is.. eh, Bordering rude but not quite there. If you don t really care about that then I d definitely recommend it Food
I love this place for Pho. Good sized portions and delicious tea
Food comes quick, tasty and well priced. Just get there early to find a good parking spot during lunch! Employees are friendly but sometimes can take a while to get drink refills.
Always great food from Ben Than!
Absolutely delicious, great service and good portions!
They bring all courses in the same time, unless you specifically ask them to wait until you finish the one course. It gets cold by the time you eat one course.
Visited a lot of times, would recommend. The pho and meat lovers plate are worth trying.
My favourite for more than a decade, highly recommend, I come back to town just for the Vietnamese Spring Rolls and Tom Yum soup. Ive tried Vietnamese food in dozens of cities and live this places food best
I had barbecue rib soup. They didnt pull the membrane off the back of the ribs so that kind of makes it a little weird. I was asked once how I was or if I need anything. Lastly, the lady when I was checking out never acknowledged me or asked me how it was, but she did perform some pretty epic nose picking while she was on the phone and on the internet. I addressed her about his concerns to which she just walked away from me. I will not return mediocre at best
Great Pho for a great price
Its been years since the last time I was at Ben Thanh and I was very excited... Prior to being seated, my family was informed we would need to pay an additional 15% charge because we have a party of 6. I can completely understand this charge for large groups or parties but why for a family of 6? We did not eat there and Im floored this happened today. Thanks for nothing Ben
Seems like they doubled my soy sauce in my pad siew
Good mango salad, fine curry, but the steamed rice is extremely bad. Thanks for the waiters serve our table, However, the lady at cashier, is rude. Food : 1/5
Ever have service so good that you resolve to become a regular? Kudos to our server Pene for being diligent with our table of 8, adults and kids, all with different drink orders and food. He checked in on us to make sure everyone had everything numerous times. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had a Thai Tea (50), Vietnamese Spring Rolls (best Ive had in town) and a chefs special Beef Rib pho. I have never been overwhelmed with the sheer amount of meat in a pho dish before, but this was a massive beef rib in the middle of my bowl! Wow! There was also beautifully tender beef tongue. The broth, meat, noodles were all delicious. My daughter had pho for the first time as well and enjoyed it. The meat lovers and spring lovers meals were also ordered at the table, and not only were the meat and toppings amply provided, but when we couldnt finish our server gave us fresh wraps and take out containers of the sauce to take home. What a great experience, I will think about this restaurant first the next time my family wants to eat out.
According to our waitress, their entire menu, including those listed vegetables and tofu are non-vegetarian. So either the waitress lied or their website is wildly inaccurate and misleading! We only found this out after driving all the eay there and being seated.
Good choice. Excellent cuisine. Reasonable price.
The food was pretty much the same as other Vietnamese places, but it felt like the servers werent trained as youd expect to see in other restaurants.
Had an experience of a lifetime. Just not a pleasant one! Their coconut soup has massive pieces of tomatoes, like a quarter of a very large tomato. These were very difficult to eat. The vegetable chow mein was completely flavorless and the yellow Vietnamese curry had large raw onions that had not even been chopped. Plus the flavor was not good. Every mistake that could be possibly made while cooking these recipes was made. The only saving grace was that the spring rolls were edible.
Worst customer service. Very rude and disrespectful staff.
I ve been eating at Ben Thanh since it opened over 20 years ago. There are several restaurants now and this one is one of my favourites. After all these years the quality of food is still top notch. I love that I can come visit the KW area and know that Ben Thanh will always be an incredible meal
I love Ben Thanh. I ve gone to 3 different ones and the food is always consistent, tasty and the portions are great. Love that this one is quick with their orders and the food is fresh! This is my go-to spot in waterloo
Note that 18% mandatory tip for group 6 or more, including babies and kids.
This used to be one of my favourite places to dine in and take out, however the last few times I came in or ordered out I had very bad experiences. The last time I dined in, I ordered the 119 (seafood noodle soup) and there was a fingernail in it!?! When I pointed this out to the server, they insisted on giving me another one, despite being totally turned off of the food. Reluctantly I accepted because she was so insistent. I didnt touch the soup and of course they charged me for it. Recently friends were ordering lunch from them. I joined in and ordered a beef noodle dish. When I went to pick it up the lady was incredibly rude and abrasive. I asked for Sriracha and hoison and she told me that it is now and extra $1. Her attitude and behaviour on top of everything else ruined this restaurant for me. The quality and service are poor, the prices went up. This place has completely lost its appeal. They have lost me as a customer, and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
FIRST ..came the abuse. A full 30 minutes before my dinner appeared. NO I know what you are thinking. For the record The place was practically empty. ( photo attached) and the dish was a quicky. I overheard the waiter mumbling an excuse to a diner at the next table who was obviously also disgruntled something about the kitchen being overwhelmed with too many takeouts. Takeout I assume get priority over diners at this joint. THEN ..came the insult. A heaping plate of overcooked noodles with curry sauce. A smattering of undercooked veggies thrown in. What can you say when the highlight of the meal was the crushed peanut garnish. I guess the cook was in quite a hurry to make up for his lapse of judgement. Service was also a bit shoddy. OK , let s end on a highnote and something positive. Oh..nice decore.
I always order before hand, an hour or so and as I get there, they just start making the food. I work so I have a schedule and I always have to wait about 15 mins in store for pick up.
Good portion size and price. Taste was fine. The service was bad, cutlery was dirty, and the kitchen has no idea how to time dishes. With only 3 dishes ordered one person shouldnt have to wait 15 min... especially when 2 out of 3 dishes are soup!
Great environment, quick service and amazing food. There are good amount of options for vegetarians. We had Red and green thai curry and both tasted good. Interested to visit again and try other vegetarian food.
By far the best fish sauce in town! Ive tried many times to replicate it but its definitely perfected here. Vietnamese golden crispy roll are beyond perfection! Meat lovers vermicelli platter is absolutely delicious!!!!
Food is ok but the servers are very rude and extremely impatient. Absolutely not worth dining here and ruin the day.
Totally empty and waiting to be seated.
Today, 6 friends had lunch together. However, they decided 18% of the service and tip. Because its my car... I got into an argument with the employee. It wont be easy to come back again.
Only one star for the acceptable food. The service is absolutely trash. The waitress is super rude and yelling to customers. Maybe she should take some middle school education to know how to talk to people, especially customer!!
I ordered Singapore Noodles with Chicken for take out and it came with raw chicken as shown in the pictures. This was disgusting!!
bad service
Good service and good food. I got the 101 Pho noodle and my friend got the 125 beef stew noodle. The food was delicious, fresh, and tasted just like how I expected it to. Will be coming back.
What a great place to stop and enjoy Pho! We were pleasantly surprised by the decor and coziness of this place. It was busy in late afternoon but our server was taking care of her tables so seamlessly with a smile. Food was fantastic! Location with ample parking and lovely vibe!
Im from Toronto and first time at this restaurant. Not much to say but first impression was 4 stars.
Served moldy food, did not offer a refund.
CHECK YOUR FOOD WHEN ORDERING TAKEOUT They only refunded me for the appetizers (my total order was $130) and then after I made a second call they then offered $25 credit. Ridiculous customer service.
Ordered dinner with Door Dash. Driver claims the restaurant only gave him the soup and none of our meals. Restaurant is now closed and Door Dash refuses to refund the order because it s against their policies. Now out the money, no dinner for the family and now have to spend even more money to get food from somewhere else. Very disappointing!
Yummy pho and good prices
Had a pleasant experience here. I got the short-rib ramen. It was about $16 before tax. I had to take it home as it was a good portion. I wish they did a soy-marinated soft-boiled egg in the ramen, but it was hard boiled plain. My only complaint.
If you Asian or specifically Vietnamese , DO NOT COME HERE. This has got to be the worse pho I had in Canada. I personally got the free range chicken pho. And it was beyond dry it could not be eaten. My cousin got the noodles and it was undercooked. We were all so hungry we tried out best to eat it. If you never had asian food before, sure come give it a try. Also the service was terrible. We did make a mistake which we said that s fine we ll still keep it but it was in the wrong size anyways but can we place another order . She made such a big deal about how we made the wrong order and it s our fault. We had no issues paying for it but the way she handle it ruined the experience on top of the terrible food.
Food came out fast and hot. We loved everything we tried. Staff was attentive and very friendly.
18% mandatory service charge. I guess were never coming back. Service was almost non-existent. Food was okay.
We tried their new dishes. Absolutely delicious. Great size portions. Will definitely go back.
They didn t come serve me immediately nor offer me free tea. Alongside that I ordered pho and it took them 6 minutes to bring it to me, it was so cold. Wouldn t recommend this non-traditional restaurant
Very fast and oh so delicious. Pricing is honest too!
They have plenty of seats to there is no wait. The service was fast, and the food was tasty! Dietary restrictions: My parents do not eat any starch, and the restaurant was more then willing to swap the noodles on the dish for more veggies!
Showed up with a group of 6 and was told there was a 18% service charge because of our large group. Offered to sit a two different tables and told would still be 18% charge. This is extortion plain and simple. Would not reccomend. Many other Pho places that would welcome the business.
Good portions at good prices. Comments show that this place is a hit or miss. Ive only had good meals.
Great Pho, Ramen, and vermicelli dishes. Staff were really friendly.
Awesome food great service
Pad thai mixted seafood had mostly fried tofu and few squids and shrimps. Pho had meats uncut and chewy, hard to eat tbh. Except for that food was good, especially spring roll was awesome. Food : 3/5
Went there with my family. BIG MISTAKE. They were about to close so we had to pay ahead. Since we had two small children who were very hungry we paid in advance for their convenience. The waitress was something else, she just did not wanted to be there working and serving customers. Rude. Restaurant floor was filthy dirty with scattered food and napkins. Food comes in, where portion of it is practically falling off the plate. DISGUSTING. They bring your order and do not give you any plates to eat. You actually have to ask for it. waitress is so clueless, even when you ask for plates, she pint at the plastic knives and says why these are no good for you. We had to spell out PLATES TO EAT . Food is the worst, we all got sick from it. How is this place operating.....amazes us all!
Too many flees flying. Around i lose my eger to eat. Dissapointed.
We been here so often since 2019 and quality is good , services is excellent but something change since pandemic and high inflation in canada Our server are excellent in services even tho the food have nothing to do with his services Let me put this way , if the food is bad , kitchen fault not the server He rectified the situation by not charging us for that dish but I feel bad since he have to pay out of his own pocket. We did leave him more than 20% tips Attached are the both picture what they showed (what we get back in 2022) vs what was delivered If you are Asians heritage , you can tell this is beyond dry chicken , very dissatisfied with the kitchen foods
The hostess was not friendly, she did not greet customers with a smile or a simple hello, Good evening, how are you?. First thing that came out of her mouth after we requested a table, was there will be an 18% service fee on top of your meal. When asked what the fee was for, she said it was a mandatory tips. Her tone was like were busy, stay if you like and leave if you dont. Many would be customer chose to leave. We stayed because we thought the food would be worth it. When the food came, it was another disappointment. The food was cold. Vietnamese soup base dish doesnt work when it is not served hot. Never again coming to this restaurant. This resturaunt give Vietnamese a bad name. I feel robbed for having to pay 18% tips on mediocre food and mediocre service.
Putting everything else aside, their spring rolls are really amazing
I ordered flank brisket and tendon soup, spring roll and the mixed bean and Pandan jelly drink whick looks so appealing from their poster outside. The pho was the worst pho I had. It didnt taste like a beef brisket soup at all and it has an unpleasant smell. And they dont have the veggies that goes with it. I was never informed when I ordered. The spring roll was good...that was my only consolation. The drink with the bean and Pandan jelly was so so. Im not from the place so wont miss this restaurant. Also it has flies inside. Service was ok.
Word of advise before you order any of the pho dishes- check that they have complete ingredients that should be included noodle pho. In my case I ordered a pho dish that came without any vegetable. I was then only told they run out of the usual veggies. I asked for sub and was told I had no choice but lettuce. I guess it s the way that it was told that I had no choice but to accept the fact that their soup does not come with the advertised ingredients and that s just too bad . Perhaps that was the last owner because she sounded like she had an attitude towards asians like me! I m a pho eater and know a little bit of the art of pho and I can say I won t be back to this place any time soon. Am oh, did I mention the flies buzzing around the tables??? Wow talk about indoor dining with flies !!
not amazing
Love the avacado milkshakes and fruit bubble tea!
This place refused to offer take out nor dine in more then half an hour before the official closing time. They dont respect the time of their customers going there by not adhering to their own posted hours. Deceptive and deceiving
Its a nice place. Theres more than just Vietnamese food on the menu, and theres a lot to choose from. The food was pretty good. No complaints, but some dishes were better liked than others. The server was great. The place has a nice aesthetic while keeping a casual vibe.
The best Pho in KW. Wide variety of options and tons of coffee / bubble tea to choose from. I recommend their dumpling ramen and the coco coffee drink.
First time tried it. If customer satisfied always going back. Not pleased with the dish I got plain nuddle and meat. No sauce no vegetables . No salad. Very small portion.
Full discloser I did not eat in the dining room. Take out only. The restaurant business is based on details and how well the restaurant can achieve them. Pho Ben Thanh knows the details - little things like house made pickled vegetable garnishes (delicious) for the spring roll appetizers, or expanding the roll category to include BBQ pork. On that note the BBQ pork comes on fresh rice paper, which sticks to everything and to other rolls, unless you know the details and use a small piece of plastic wrap to keep them separate until you get home. Such a simple solution - never see that before. We also had the Pad Thai and this is a great version - Tofu slices and chicken - mild and hot - and a very good sized portion at a very good price. My family lives well outside of Waterloo and we have been looking for a place to go and get good food. This is it. I look forward to eating my way through the menu in the coming months. Cheers Pho Ben Thanh!
Ordered two chicken pad thai, both orders were just a huge glop of stuck together noodles covered in some type of hot sauce - no flavour, no peanuts, all tofu with next to no chicken. Very disappointed, will go elsewhere for pad thai next time
So yummy. Great food and service.
A couple of months ago I found a piece of plastic bag in my tom yum soup at this place (it was appropriately comped). And last night we went again (invited by a large group) and ordered ~8 different dishes each more disappointing than the last. My child is home sick from school today and I suspect the cause was the pad siew which looked as if it had been sitting out for some time.
It is a very bad restaurant. We came for 9 persons, manager insist to separate us to 2 tables to 2 different sections - he said it is company policy, which fair to their waiters for tips - mandatory 18%. Not friendly conversation, they simply don t care the business and customers. The worst restaurant and manager I have ever experienced. No. 1 of scam restaurant in GTA , suggest to try if you want to test your EQ
The manger wouldn t allow us, a group bigger than six, to dine at one table or even two tables in one section (not necessarily adjacent), unless 18% tips is guaranteed, according to their policy . Never experienced such low standard of customer service , already felt sick before eating. We left and will never come back. Promised the manager a bad review and he said please with a smile.
Couldnt believe what happened to us there. The manager on duty insisted on charging us (9 in total) 18% on tips as a group although he wasnt willing to provide us with anything even close to the so called group service. He first said he wouldnt combine 2 tables, although there were 2 empty tables right beside each other in front of us. He then moved on to declare that he would only sit us on 2 separate tables in 2 opposite sections yet still charge us as a group, despite that we probably couldnt even see each other while eating. We felt that he was just trying to disgust us for fun. It was indeed very disgusting and ridiculous experience there. Of course we left, and wont ever go back. Not sure what the restaurant owner would think, but this manager definitely didnt care to care his customers.
Ive been coming here every year for my birthday for the last few years. We got the meat lover, mango salad, and cashew chicken. Great food and great service!
VERY DISAPPOINTED/ Stick with the soup only! When you ask your server Dave to not bring the spicy sauce for your appetizer plate and he still does = SHOULD HAVE BEEN MY WARNING SIGN!! I asked to get something that had no spice but there were no substitutions in the lunch plates so I decided on beef with onions and broccoli and some green beans instead of peppers that was a dinner plate . I get my plate laced with hot pepper flakes! Question: what did he not understand from no spice and no peppers? And I get a pile of rice noodles delivered with my husbands soup 10 mins afterwards that got all stuck as one big blob. They redo my plate only to get uncooked broccoli and green beans, no onions and piece of eggshell. To top it all off I had to walk up to the bar to get myself a refill because Dave dropped the plate. So I ask him where my onions are and he never came back until we were ready to leave. So I got a to got box from another server. Our server sees this and oh now you want to help us because you will get paid! TOO LATE I understand if I asked for something off menu but this was simple, no spice. And I need to drink with my meal due to health reasons. Please Note: The smell of javex everytime they wash the tabletops is very offputting. So that just added to my unsatisfying meal. After years of coming here, I AM DISAPPOINTED and I should have listened to my Husband and stick to the soup only! Please Note #2: Spoke with the lady at front who seemed to run the place and she told me twice to tell the server. I replied I did. And I wrote a Google review so you could read my experience tonight.
The portion of the food is getting significantly less comparing to before. We ordered drinks with the food but the drink arrives after we are almost finished with the food. I really love this restaurant and the owner, and I hope these constructive criticism can make this restaurant better!
Always a great experience. Food is never anything but great. Service is insanely quick. Prices are very reasonable.
Pho soup was pretty good! But portion was a little bit small, and green papaya salad was a bit hard and not crunchy.
Went today with a small party for lunch. We had not been to this location before. The staff provided good service although were not at all communicative. The food was very mediocre. We had 7 different dishes at the table and the sauces for the three of them were heavy and gelatinous: cashew chicken, asparagus chicken, and a third. The Pad Thai was very light on the included meat. The curry chicken was nicely done. However, we will not return due to the state of the washrooms. Cobwebs... including in the stalls, filthy door and dirt on walls.
Huge selection of amazing food! They also have very quick service.
The prices are fair average with this day and age. The chicken was dry and the beef noodle soup tasted a bit spoiled as I had a stomach ache the same night. Probably would not come here again for pho.
Service was quick even though the waitress seemed very unenthusiastic. Got 101, the pho classic and it was a large portion. Wish they gave hoisin and sriracha bottles insteads of small plates of sauce. The pho itself tasted good though and came with plenty of bean sprouts.
Reasonable prices, good quality was very good, and service was good fast and efficient.
Food is good but service is horrible...I placed a takeout order they told me it would be 20 minutes pick up...when I went to pick up my order they had no order at all so I had to place another order and wait 15 more minutes and no apology for their error at all
Yeah just added this place to my list of never order from again, I dont know why my food and the outside side of my containers smell like they sat on raw fish juices, specially when you dont order anything with fish
Overall the dishes are tasty and delicious. Good for family dinner or lunch.
Amazing food, fast and friendly service
I ordered Pho and they don t have sriracha (spicy red sauce)t ng n ph anymore. Now they serve the red sour sauce that tasted weird. Very disappointed
My fav place for pho in town. Was their customer when they were in the old location on King St. in Kitchener in 90s.
Ben Thanh is a KW staple for quick and easy Vietnamese food. There is nothing not to like about Ben Thanh, but it s hard to love anything from here either. If you want a quick and delicious meal, usually on the healthier side, check out Ben Thanh! I recommend any of the vermicelli bowls and grab a bubble tea on the way out!
Amazing Pad See Ew, fast and curious
Was a nice place a few years ago. Dont go now.
A good place for affordable Vietnamese food! I like their Pho and my friend had their rice dish. The food came out pretty fast. There is a lot of seating and their menu has a lot of stuff on it!
Third time finding hair in our food. Really unacceptable. I want to like this place because I love Vietnamese food but the service, quality and cleanliness is all on the decline. Try Pho Da Bo downtown Kitchener for a more authentic Vietnamese experience.
Very quick service, surprised how quickly they brought the food. Very fresh, and authentic food in good portions. Kids friendly.
Poor customer service.
Usually my go to Thai place as it s close by .not sure if I ll be returning, which makes me sad! I ordered the pho I regularly got, didn t feel fresh ! The noodles were chopped up ( really strange) which made it really difficult to eat, and then veggies that were chopped up, were discoloured needless to say, I didn t eat it !
I paid $16 for a take-out order of Supreme Chicken Rice Noodle Soup and 80% of the chicken in it was bones (see picture below). Its difficult to enjoy soup when you must spend a good deal of time trying to pick the small remnants of chicken off bones. $16 seems a pretty steep price to pay for some noodles and broth and a bunch of grizzle and sharp bones. Disappointed.
Ordered veg thai green curry & spring rolls for take out lunch. Food was subpar quality. Curry had a layer of oil on top and didnt taste great or fresh. They even refused to give me the rice that comes with lunch options since I chose the green curry to be vegetarian (I asked them to remove shrimp)! Spring rolls were very oily/greasy and tasteless. Would not return here again. Vegetarian options: When I asked to make lunch option their green curry into vegetarian option, they charged me the dinner price and didnt give rice. Also the food was subpar. THere are many better thai restauranrs in the area.
The service was great here; nice and quiet space with fast customer service. The pho was also delicious, great value for price and portion size. One extra large bowl can serve 2-3 people depending on hunger levels. The beef was tender, soft and tasted great.
Love the pho. Wish it had more meat in it! But still love it.
The price has increased a lot this year, tea costs 1.5 yuan, and the old waiter looks very ugly, as friends described. (Two years ago) The food quality and taste were good. The service is mediocre, often missing dishes from the menu or chopsticks and paper towels. The fried dough sticks sometimes turn black after being re-fried!
i m viet, i d tried many pho and vietnamese eateries during my life time. this is my regular go to restaurant when i m seeking convenience and value. over the course of the past few years i ve noticed their quality, value and service has steadily diminishing. recently i ordered pho chicken but they came out with pho seafood-really? not the first time it happened and certainly won t be the last. i had to ask for beans sprouts for my noodle soup which came without any thai basil- serenity now :( . i also had to ask for hot sauce that came in the smallest sauce plate- we re not playing doll house here people! the dine in experience has really diminished as their staff continues to exemplified unwelcoming, unfriendly and their unwillingness to accommodate. i ll be less frequent to this restaurant from now on. be well and eat well
Good food and nice ambience.
A pleasant in restaurant experience. The food was tasty and the portion sizes are extremely generous. There is a good value for the price of the meal. After ordering the service was very fast and efficient.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE THE 474 PHUC KIEN CHOW MIEN IT IS THE BEST DISH ON THE MENU
my only goto for vietnamese pho in town.
We arrived at about 7:55 pm and the waitress told us to leave because they are closed. so the store hours means nothing to you right
Overpriced, cheap materials and made me feel sick the next day not worth your money go somewhere else.
Excellent Thei Vietnamese restaurant with lots of choices for every diet. Delicious curry, excellent vegetable spring rolls and fresh rolls. Good portions too.
Food is consistently delicious and the prices are reasonable compared to many restaurants which are increasing prices exponentially. Service is so fast. Food is so fresh.
I had a very good Pho with rare beef Soup portions are big so a small is more than enough for 1 person.
oh shoot it s a banger. they did not make me tip extra like watami!
Good place to eat Vietnamese food ..
It used to be good, but now its terrible. Chicken was NOT cooked fresh and the fish sauce was very stinky. Will not be back for a long time.
Friendly service
Best Vietnamese restaurant and hyper region chain
It s so delicious. I must order number 101 every time I come here.
Enjoyed the rolls.
My go to spot for soup when feeling sick.
Huge menu with a variety of options. Prices were fair and portions were pretty big. Service was okay. Restaurant was spacious.
Very good Vietnamese dishes including pho, rice, great service and portion, price fair.
If I could leave 0 star I would. My friend and I chose this restaurant because we thought it was authentic Vietnamese dishes. I looked at the menu and did not see a single word of Vietnamese to describe the items. Items were very fixed and cannot be modified when asked. I asked for spring rolls with both shrimps and pork and the waitress said no. Its one or the other. The springrolls were more noodles than any shrimps. I ordered a pho and it came with a small bowl of sauce which was not even enough for my bowl of pho. It felt like a low budget restaurant for high priced food.... Never going here again. I dont recommend at all if you are looking for authentic Vietnamese dishes. Parking: Limited
Used to come here with family all the time! Love their options - always ordered at least 2 chicken dishes & 1 noodle dish.
I thought a lot before putting down a 1 star review, but I think I had to, as a responsible contributor. BE CAREFUL WITH THIS RESTAURANT, THEY CAN CHARGE YOU A DEFAULT 18% SERVICE CHARGE IF THEY SEE YOU TALKING TO ANOTHER TABLE WHICH, IN THEIR DEFINITION, CONSTITUTES A GROUP BOOKING! That was what happened to me and my Mum when 2 of us came last weekend for lunch. We met a big family there who were our friends and as we sit at the nearby table; and we talked to them. We then learnt at the very end when we saw on the receipt for 2 of us a 18% group service charge. I asked the staff & she said because we sit next to a group and we talked to them!!?? I refused to accepted that ridiculous reason so a so-called manager came over and said because the other group booked a bigger table so they concluded we belong to that group withour even bother verifying with me. I always tip but this kind of forced tipping is absolutely unacceptabl!. No matter what I said, the manager just argued back, as if I lied, then left very impolitely. I left a cash with 10%, as a tip for their effort to fight for that 18% which they would have received anyway if they did not behave so unethically. And I leave this review to warn other curtomers if you happen to visit this place. I wish I took the picture of the receipt to share here, One an additional note, their foods are barely an average 2.5 - 3 star to us.
Friendly service, huge menu...food was rather bland
yum
The pad Thai was just noodles and two or three pieces of small uncooked chicken. My husband s veggie pad thai had literally four pieces of veggies when he even asked for extra veggies and no tofu. No flavour no peanuts and poor service.
Came here for lunch and ordered pho. Should have read the reviews before coming because this place was pretty bad. The pho bo (beef) was basically a bowl of broth, tiny portion of noodles and a beef fat. It was terrible. Left hungry. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
Very bad customer service, they dont even care about wait time. Food was okay .
