676 King St, Welland, ON L3B 3L1, Canada
For over 70 years the Blue Star Restaurant has been a welcoming landmark establishment located on King Street, Welland. We've been the original and uncontested Mom & Pop restaurant since 1947... We are known for having extensive menu choices from breakfast, lunch, dinner and take out/delivery. We also do event catering.
We had our Christmas party tonight in the separate area "the front". We were able to choose from different menus as a group, and it was a buffet style with a bar in the same room. We had cabbage rolls, which were delicious. Roasted potatoes, amazing, salad, carrots (best I've ever had), pierogies and chicken . All but the pierogies were gf, and all were amazing. My son had multiple trips to get more chicken, which he never usually eats. The staff was courteous and let us enjoy our evening together. I would mention that the place is dated, but it looks like they are making strides in updating it. Also, the parking is a little confusing to get to, if not from Welland
Went back after a bad experience 6 years ago. Food was great, but our waitress ( larger woman, curly hair, glasses) was cold and rude! She didn't once come by to check on us. Both my wife's coffee and my refillable fountain pop were empty half way through our meal. We still had to flag her down to get a refill on the coffee, and she still came back to serve other tables multiple times before providing a refill. I didn't bother with my fountain pop as i was done eating and it was pointless. Even though i paid more to have the option of refills. I gave you another chance and you blew it! I don't intend on being back again. Also a note. When cashing out do NOT ask the customer how much they want to tip, that should be a private decision made at the table or on the debit machine. A very poor business decision. Maybe you should spend more time watching your rude waitress, than extorting tips for awful service.
We had the turkey dinner with all the favorites, including pie for dessert. More food than we needed, but it was great. I wouldn't mind a different choice for my veggies. Staff are always friendly and helpful.
love this place and the beautiful evolution its going through also! food is always plentiful and home cooked delicious. the atmosphere feels like I'm at home with family and lots of great pictures over the years. cant wait to come back again soon
Amazing food, great service, friendly atmosphere, great prices. I've never been disappointed after choosing to eat here. I mostly get takeout but tons of inside seating as well. The big bear burger and double blue mac are my favourites, huge burgers that are very filling
Been meaning to go forever. Finally made it and it was as good as everyone told us. Food was delish and good prices. Gentleman at cash brought us a couple of cabbage rolls on our way out as I I told him when we paid the bill that we were very impressed and we would be back. Very thoughtful gesture 🎄 it's been around forever for good reason 🔪🍳🔪
Blue Star Restaurant impressed me with their blueberry pancake and chicken sandwich. The pancake was fluffy, sweet, and packed with fresh blueberries, while the chicken sandwich featured tender, well-seasoned meat and fresh ingredients. Friendly service and a cozy atmosphere made the experience even better. Highly recommended for comfort food lovers!
I recently visited Blue Star for the first time and was extremely disappointed with the overall experience. Cleanliness: When I arrived, the table was dirty and had garbage still on it. This immediately gave a bad impression of the restaurant's hygiene standards. I ordered a Diet Coke, and it came only halfway filled. Food Quality and Portions: I ordered a corned beef sandwich, which only had a few slices of meat on it. The portion was incredibly small, and there were barely any fries on the plate. They also forgot to give me gravy with my meal. When they finally brought more fries, the gravy was watery and had spilled all over the side of the container. Turkey Poutine : I also ordered a turkey poutine to go. Initially, they told me they were out of cheese curds and offered cheddar cheese instead. I declined, but then they came back saying they had found cheese curds after all. When the turkey poutine was brought to me wrapped up to go, I opened it to find there was no cheese on it at all. When they saw me looking at it, they took it and said they had mistakenly put cheddar cheese on it. I told them there was no cheese on it at all. They then asked if I still wanted it, and I declined...again. I felt they were hoping I wouldn't notice my order was incorrect, but regardless, it should have been checked before being served to me. Overall Value: To top it all off, the meal came to $20.00, which was absolutely not worth it given the poor service and food quality. Overall, I haven't left a restaurant without paying a tip in over ten years, but I feel that every aspect of my experience, from service to the kitchen, was not satisfactory. I left feeling extremely unsatisfied and disappointed. Blue Star needs to seriously improve its service and food quality.
Friendly staff not as good like it used to be plus took the best selling items on the menu off I was disappointed
Menu said fresh orange juice but I got a bottle of oasis from concentrate I was very confused.
Always a guaranteed good meal. From when you walk in and a warm greeting from John to the incredible wait staff. And then the food is always Good and and with a good portion. John is always there to give you a good laugh on the way out . Vegetarian options: They always accommodate my vegetarian lifestyle just have to ask. And there are a number of choices
always went to the blue star but staff can loose customers CHRISTINE WAS THE SERVER asked for a booth she said booth broken I saw 5 booths still open SHE sat us at a table,,, cripple person and a senior person.... CHRISTINE ASK THE NEXT 4 CUSTOMERS BOOTH OR TABLE, and they got BOOTHS when they came into the BLUE STAR ,, CHRISTINE IS PREGUDICE AGAINST SOME PEOPLE... so we left NO FOOD and a long time till we ever go back Christine lost you a good customer.
Food
Food was greasy. Inedible. Husband said his spaghetti was bland. Waitress was rushed. Forced attitude. Wont be back Vegetarian options: Varied and many Dietary restrictions: Just ask and they accommodate Parking: More than ample parking Kid-friendliness: Perfect place for family dining Wheelchair accessibility: Absolutely Wheelchair accessible
We were seated by one waitress and then totally ignored while other guests seated after were given menus then coffee. We were finally given menus by another waitress .10 minutes passed with no sign of her ! The other waitress with gray longer hair was looking after her tables accordingly while we were still ignored! After 25 minutes we just left !
Food was amazing, very quick and quality service.
Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Just feels like home. Kid-friendliness: Big kids menu Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs
Been coming here probably close to 40 years, on and off. Always a good breakfast, fantastic chicken (and wings), pierogies, cabbage rolls... Sandwiches are good, coffee is decent, pies are great, service is always friendly and prices vs portions are pretty reasonable.
My cousin .come hear for breakfast often. Always the way breakfast should be. There is a reason they have Bern open forever
The servers were awesome
I just wanted to give a big shout out to blue star for the amazing chicken a potatoes a salad we ordered for my son s wedding ..everyone at the wedding was asking where we got , they said it was the best chicken .. ppl from out of town was asking where it was ..thank you once again for a great job ..
Great food, and they have broasted chicken!
Grossest Gravy Ive ever eaten, damn dog wouldnt eat it either..
Great food! Great pricing! Great service and great atmosphere!
Great food! One of the only original restaurants left in Welland! Great food and pies! Johnny Rocks!
U cant go wrong with the blue star
I thought the sausage were not so good tasted almost like a hot dog
Five (blue) stars! Good prices for lunch, quiet, calm and friendly people, cheerful staff and delightful decor. Fantastic hot meal. Turkey rice soup was so delicious.
Horrible horrible place so dirty! and the worst part is the jerk manager ..so I went in with a man I guess is a lousy tipper Im told by staff and manager during my visit .. so they threw our food at us so hard and the plates bounced off the table and caught air !!!! so I went to complain and I was Immediately screamed at in my face by a large man with disgusting manners ..so he screamed in my face that were lousy tippers !!? so we can just leave and dont come back ..and I left half the tip the previous time it was a couple bucks over the 20 % mind you ..so yeah theyll let you know if your tip isnt sufficient by their standards you will be insulted berated and told to leave after paying good money for slop . also I was 9 mos pregnant and being screamed at was extremely upsetting I wouldent come here again if you paid me ..horrible experience
Amazing all day breakfast with great prices. An OG gem of a restaurant!!
Excellent food and service
Yum Yum Yummy! Great service also!
I honestly cant say enough good things about this place. The staff are all lovely, the food is phenomenal, and very fairly priced. By far one of the best Eggs Benedict Ive ever had, and the hash browns are addictive. Id post a picture of our food, but we always eat it too quickly to take a picture
Great food for a good price
Food and Service was great
Hours incorrect
Amazing place , great food !! And wonderful staff and owner !! Thank you ! Food : 5/5
Disappointed with how they made my partners pancake considering we paid a dollar extra for getting a breakfast item past noon. The pancake was undercooked. It shouldnt have gone out of the kitchen just by looking at it -- whitest pancake weve ever seen served it was also wet and doughy inside indicating that the batter was not cooked well. Their home fries was the highlight as it was crispy on the outside and soft inside (tho we suspect it was a store bought and not made/cut at the restaurant as the cut was very uniformed like those youd buy at the grocery in the frozen section). Ordered eggs Benedict as well, which was nothing special. Poached egg on a peameal bacon doused with hollandaise sauce. The sauce was thick and whether or not it was made from scratch is debatable (not that it was ever claimed on their menu anyway). Overall, it was ok. Id give it 2.8 if I could just based on the undercooked pancake. Service was good. Only peeve was that we were asked multiple times how things were within 5 minutes. For example, we were asked how the food was 2 minutes after serving them and perhaps the server didnt take a second to really look to notice that we havent had the chance to taste any of it. Then the same server came back at least 3 more times to ask the same question and all within 5 minutes. Typical bar atmosphere with jerseys hung on the wall and oddly enough a life size statue or wax figurine of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark and Iron Man. Family and big groups friendly as they have booths than can accomodate up to 4 people or 6 with kids and they are more than willing to put tables together to accomodate big groups (we saw many family gatherings at the time we went as it was during Mothers Day weekend). Personally, it was alright for what it was that day. Im pregnant and I was craving for breakfast items while driving through Welland. Considering many breakfast places in Welland closes early (2pm the latest), this was the only choice really.
It is an okay place.
Came to eat breakfast here because of the great reviews. Location isnt the best but sometimes the best restaurants are were you least expect them to be. I came in expecting good food. Unfortunately my experience wasnt as great as some of the other reviewers. I ordered a bushmeal and it took us about 30-40mins to get our food. The pancakes were fluffy and light but a bit too oily. The home fries and bacon were quite good. I liked the seasoning on the home fries and they were cooked perfectly. Where the meal really fell short were the eggs. I got sunny side up eggs and the eggs, including the white, were incredibly runny. In fact they were barely held together like the egg was cracked right on my plate. I asked for another plate of eggs, this time over easy, and they were more cooked than the first plate but not cooked as much as they should be and were way too white and still had a bit of run off. Unfortunately even with salt and pepper, the taste was not right. I couldnt finish my toast either as it didnt taste like bread. It tasted like it had chemicals on it so Im not sure what happened there. However, the staff were friendly and did check in a few times during our meal to see how the food was. I truly wish I had a different experience like the other reviewers as Im sure this must have been a rare occurrence.
Excellent Service and Great food and prices. I Highly recommend
You won t be disappointed!!! Great food, very reasonable prices and friendly staff.
If you want a delicious meal during thanksgiving, this is the place to get one!
Had a wonderful family breakfast with relatives over from Wales. Good prices and huge portions. Blueberry pancakes ftw!
An unbelievable find. Quality and quantity unheard of these days. Ordered two trio meals which was a but of a mistake. We easily could have shared one meal. We took home as much as we ate. The wait staff was as good as it gets. Great home cooking in a friendly, family atmosphere . And prices that shocked me in a good way.
One of the best restaurant I ve ever been to. Staffs are so nice and welcoming. The food is great! They have big portion. Will definitely come back next time.
Great food great stafff !!!
Came in this morning for family breakfast. The owner treated my daughter to a candy apple, when she asked for a colouring sheet. Class act, and great ownership. This is why you support local business
Friendly staff pancakes were just OK,I had better
I am sure I have been there before. My experience on May 12 was not a good one. I ordered the chicken parmigiana special, there was nothing special about it! It was a piece of chicken breast deep fried with a slice of mozzarella cheese, covered in store bought canned or jarred sauce! On a pile of cold over cooked penne pasta. I was not impressed and would think twice about going there. It could possibly be they cant cook certain dishes? If you cant make good Italian sauce take it off your menu, as well as freshly cooked pasta! That pasta was sitting there cooked and cold until an order came in.
We went for an early breakfast on Mother s Day and we were seated prompted. The service was excellent as was our meal. We are pretty ordinary with our choices of bacon & eggs and sausage & eggs with toast and coffee. We will be back.
the pancakes are big and fluffy and fabulous
On of the best family run businesses in town. Plant based burger was more tastier than many places Ive tried. Definitely worth a shot!
They say first impressions are important and this restaurant made quite the first impression the food was excellent I have no complaints at all I would go back and eat there again thank you for hosting our Easter dinner
We go there often as the food and service is usually always great. Today I was very disappointed. It took over 30 minutes to get our breakfast as others who came in 20mins had already got food. Once our food came, potatoes were cold, eggs were over hard (I ordered over easy) and my toast was cold that even the butter didnt melt. Not a good experience today
My aunt loves this place, me not so much, the service was great, the food for me not so good, had a craving for eggs Benedict, it came cold and I wasnt impressed with the hollandaise sauce, I ate it and didnt complain cos my aunt would have been disappointed, needs work on the home fries too
Great chicken & chips
What a gem! We were genuinely surprised by the quality of food and the owners hospitality. We ordered take out, but the owner offered us a sampler of the best sellers while we waited. We will definitely visit again in the future if we are in Welland.
My recent stop ins have been to take out cold cabbage rolls! Good food Good value Family owned. Worth supporting!!
Amazing everytime. Been a consistent customer for a long time. Excellent service food price every single time. The Blue Star is an institution in Welland! Food is incredible. Service is lightening fast.
I love this place! I dont get bad reviews been here over 50 times thru out the years an I can honestly say Ive never see inconsistentsy.. the food is always good !!
Good food, decent prices, comfortable booths, but a little cold inside, wear a sweater. Wheelchair accessibility: No stairs, you can easily get a wheelchair in here.
Fish and chips, dinner for one, is enough for dinner for two. Crispy, tasty and excellent price
Came here as a kid with mom and it was a treat each time. So glad theyre still around and the food is great, breakfast or dinner
Need to cook your French fries longer. Last batch I had were half raw Food
This place holds a certain nostalgia for me. Nice lunch with friends. Nice relaxed atmosphere.
I Got a chicken ceaser for me and a friend. Spend almost 40 bucks. We ate a little amd had to through them out. It was terrible tasting. Within 30 minute we were in the bathroom and spent the night sick. The crutons were almost as fresh as bread because they were so stale. Bad food. Would never recommend this place. Save your money this place isnt worth the trouble.
My boyfriend took me here and while it s definitely an interestingly situated building.. our experience there was amazing. The service was phenomenal and the entire staff were so friendly. The food deserves its own 5 star review as well, everything tasted like good homemade food. Before we even finished our meal we were planning our next trip, I hope they stay open for another 85 years!!
Service was fast and friendly
What a hidden gem! I had dine in last time. Tried take out this time. Food is excellent, portions are large, price is reasonable and staff is great! Cant believe its been here for years and I was unaware!!
Friends took us out for brunch on December 23, 2023 at the Blue Star. They raved about the place so my wife and I were eager to try it out. As soon as I walked in I loved the atmosphere of the place. We were seated in a booth which was comfortable, while my wife and I took in the relaxed ambience of the restaurant. We liked it! Then our server came along apologizing for the wait, which wasnt long at all. She was a tall woman with short dark hair. She had a brusque manner about her, almost to the point of ungracious harshness. She had a disagreeable nature which she tried to cover up with bad humour. She came across as irritable perhaps even surly. I got the impression that she wasnt happy in her work. I ordered the fish and chips which were wonderful. Everyone else at our table enjoyed their meals. We will return to the Blue Star in the future but we will avoid her section if possible.
Great local place to eat at.
Friendly place with a family atmosphere. The waiting staff were friendly and courteous. The food was well-made and the pancakes were soft and still moist. The eggs were great and the bacon had a great crispiness. One thing is, that coffee could be stronger. Coming from Texas this place was a great place to eat.
There are way too KIND loved the pie thank you so much Happy New Year may 2024 be a blessed year for all
We got there shortly after 1pm. There were some big parties. A waitress sat us at a booth and someone said theyd see if a waiter was going to take us and if not she would. We sat maybe 15 mins. I was just going to get up and leave and they came and asked what we wanted to drink. We knew what we wanted to eat so we ordered that too. The girl who was supposed to be our waitress said someone would be with us shortly. I said someone has. We got our drinks and our food shortly after. No one came around to ask if we needed more coffee/drinks or food was ok. My home fries were Luke warm. Not even hot. Not surprisingly as how fast they came out. Lady apologized a few times.
Food was good. Service: not so much. It took 45 minutes from when we arrived until there was food on the table. There was another couple that came in just after us and ordered and ate and left and then 10 minutes later our breakfast arrived! It is still cold sitting near the door.
Always great food at good prices.
I was very impressed with the customer service we had today. I hadnt been in to eat since before covid. I took my dad for lunch and it did not disappoint. Delicious cabbage rolls!!! My dad said his rueben sandwich was amazing. We had yummy coconut cream pie for dessert. Thank you for the nice experience and of coarse the great food.
Great food and friendly staff.
Kid-friendliness: Just had dinner here with my husband and 2 boys who are 4 & 2 and our waitress was so great! She was patient with us and so sweet when talking to my 4 year old, they were kids and a little loud at times and not a single complaint by anyone (staff or patron) the portions are huge even for kids which is awesome as I now have another whole meal for my kids tomorrow as well as myself as I couldnt finish my meal either! Big thank you to blue star staff for being so great tonight and not making us feel like a burden or unwanted in your restaurant! Have always liked this place and love it even more now!
I give a 1 star because a business that has hours that are on web site and when I called 30 min befor they closed they tell u the kitchen is closed when I have called befor and it takes 10 mins to throw a take out order together the have dinner menu but pretty much close around supper
Went for dinner. Nice place. I had lasagna and my husband the spaghetti. Portion size was good and the food was delicious. Staff was friendly and attentive. Also got a dozen of their cabbage rolls to go and they are fantastic. All reasonably priced Parking: Lots of parking
Wheelchair accessibility: Need automatic doors.
Really gone down hill especially when they have posted pictures of Justin Trudeau attending this place, Justin Trudeau is a liar and hes ruining this country. Back to the food, you are served half of what you use to receive, I had the reuben sandwich and French onion soup, the sandwich was really tiny very thin, and the soup lacked really any onions, also asking for crackers I was told outright NO, and the waitress walked away. We waited until halfway through our dinner to get any drinks at all not even water, the waitress said she was busy, but we could see her texting on her phone. Sorry no tip, and we will never return to the Blue Star Restaurant. Two Thumbs Down
Never disappointed.
The blue star has been and always will be the # 1 place for a quick bite or a delight for an evening out. Your hosts Brian n Johnny are always the most congenial people u could ever meet. !
Awesome food just excellent, we travel 25 km just to go to this restaurant. Doesnt look like much from the outside but inside its great.A real locals place to eat. Everything is extremely well priced, very friendly and casual atmosphere and the food is to die for. 100% highly recommended.
Decent food, however the last two times we went, they failed to clean the table properly and the floors were absolutely disguising, and upon checking the Niagara Health Food Inspection, not really surprised as they had a lot of infractions of basic care for a restaurant.
Great food
Food was excellant staff was amazing, recommended
Cant go wrong here
Finally made it to the Blue Star we have read so much about. The staff were so welcoming and friendly and made some great recommendations. The cabbage rolls were the best I have ever had. We even bought some to take home. The lasagna was delicious! We will be back for sure! Thank you!
Great food. Good service. Dirty washroom.
The staff was very nice and welcoming and service was timely and the food was good. We enjoyed our first eat in experience and subsequent meals. The desserts are also deeelish! Parking: Parking was ample at the back of the building as the front faces the street and those doors are closed for use as an alternative space.
Dietary restrictions: Can make changes as requested and very child friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: Able to accommodate everyone no matter what your needs may be. Food : 5/5 |
Enjoyed a lovely lunch with friends. Great staff
Great breakfast and good service
Excellent quality and reasonable pricing, definitely worth checking out when in Port Colborne Excellent turkey dinner
Great food and service. Theyve been cooking great food here for as long as I can remember. Family restaurant.
Great home style food. Generous portions. Fast service. Amazing roast beef.
Absolutely the best hands down, they know their food and baked goods. Staff is excellent and the atmosphere is great. Hoping to try that peanutbutter pie soon!!!
It doesnt matter what you order here it will be excellent. Eat in or take, any time were here with our friends Evey and Phil we order from here!
Hair in my food!!
Food was good and wait time, not very long.
Every meal that I have ever enjoyed at Blue Star, wether take out or dine in, has always been delicious, comforting, fresh, and well prepared. The staff is always friendly, and the service is good. They are a Welland landmark and they truly live up to that designation.
They have a dish station in the middle of the booths We sat in a booth next to it. We couldn t hear anything over the staff clearing dishes. It was soooo load I couldn t get out of there fast enough. It today destroyed our dining experience , it literally sounded like they were smashing the dishes on purpose
Such a comfortable place. Excellent service great food good prices. Great family experience Kid-friendliness: We went with 5 kids who were still rowdy from the indoor play place. The staff was good with them and friendly. The kids were given coloring pages and crayons. The food was brought quickly. It was a great experience
The service was ok didnt ask us if we wanted drinks then threw them on the table on the way by the food was horrible re warmed french fries. Chicken fingers so tough you couldnt cut them or chew them three chicken fingers a half cup of fries 15.99 no side salad or veggie the rest of the meals were no better the floors were dirty I have never liked this place but thought give it another try wont be back spend your money at a better place
Great food, service and prices
Very friendly staff, large food portions and reasonable prices. Great selection of meals with daily specials.
An absolute hidden Gem in Welland, great service and even better food. Our new weekly spot. Food
Great food big portion priced right. Tks Johnny
I love this gem it s been here in welland forever pretty much everything you can get there is Homesdale freshly cooked, cabbage rolls are great and if you ever in the mood for the best wings in the region I personally think, give this one a try!!! Very underrated place
Great food. Pancakes were outstanding...super fluffy. Great portion size. Service was a little slow but otherwise a very positive experience.
Great place to grab delivery or dine in. Good old fashioned food like your mom made. From cabbage rolls, roast turkey and chicken dinners, burgers, or clubhouses, they got it. And dont forget the pies Good family style deals on take out for larger families/events/ parties. Including Broasted chicken and salad trays. Roast beef or turkey, pierogies, pies ,butter tarts, and tons of other options. Staff is super helpful and friendly and they deliver to places outside Welland (port colbourne, Wainfleet, Townline tunnel road, fonthill, crystal beach and more for a small delivery fee using RC delivery .)
My first time there, welcomed at the door and showed to a booth. My family and I very satisfied with service and food. Love the menu choices. Just go and relax and let them do the rest. Prices are fair.
The food is good and the portions are generous. Its a bit dated, but this restaurant has been a mainstay in Welland for ages. Service is great, the waitress was very friendly.
I came there tonight for my 46th birthday. You gave my dad a piece of coconut cream pie on the house. Thank you for making my birthday a special one!! Lots of Love Jen
Home cookin, great service. Even grabbed 24 cabbage rolls ta go...sooo good. Been going since I was a kid...alwsys stop in and never been dissapointed!!
Food was great. Took my Mother for her birthday and Father for Fathers Day. They both happened to be on the same day this year. After waiting for 35 minutes our food came out, we asked for parmesan cheese and I asked for the cranberry sauce that was supposed to come with my turkey dinner. After waiting for 10 more minutes and my meal almost finished our server finally came back to ask how everything was tasting, clearly forgetting the cheese and cranberry sauce, she noticed my mothers steak was cooked medium and not well like she asked for, so she took it to be replaced, I had to ask again for the cheese and cranberry sauce. Id like to mention it was not busy at this time. When she came out with my mothers meal again and the other 4 meals have now been eat, I politely said to her I will not be paying for the steak dinner, she said she would need to confirm with her manager. The meal was taken off the bill, as it should have been without say, in my opinion the whole bill should have been no change. I also would have expected the manager to come to our table to apologize for the mix up, but no she just gave me a dirty look when I only tipped $5, which I regret doing. Good food but very poor service.
We all loved our lunch.
Great food service and prices..home made pies!!!!
Great portions, amazing breakfast.
Really Great food, Friendly, welcoming staff and best prices in Town!!
Always a pleasure to dine at the Blue Star. Food is good staff are very friendly, like going home to moms place. Parking: Plenty of parking
Great home cooked food along with good size portions. Friendly service, will definitely be going back.
I had chicken parmesan and spaghetti. The serving was a little small, but it was really good. Kiko Food
Ate too fast to take pictures. Ordered takeout. Food was ready as promised. Friendly staff. 2 different burgers and 1 order of onion rings were plentiful for 2 people. Meat patties were good size and flavourful, as were the toppings. And the coconut creal pie slice didn t disappoint. I apologize to the server as I made a mistake on the tip. Not intentional. Just bad math.
You know it was a good breakfast when after eating all you want is to go back to bed! Delicious!
Good restaurant in town. Food is decent and service good. Great for family gathering.
Great family diner with a wide variety menu. Lots of very good comfort food. Great staff that makes you feel comfortable and at home.
I went for the fish and chips, didn t like it, the fish was thin and soggy, but my husband ordered the nacho supreme and it was really tasty!
Great portions and fair prices!!
Perfect breakfast and service.
Great food a little dated but a hidden gem for sure
Good food. Prices are good.
Food is good. Staff are friendly! Have been eating here since I was little. Best breakfast in town.
Home cooked food at a home cooked price! Generous portions and kind staff.
Dont let the outside fool you. The food was actually really really good! My only complaint would be it was super busy so it took a while to get the food. If ever I end up back in the area I would definitely go back! Was just passing through at the time.
Not many vegetarian options and nothing on the lunch menu. Waitress got my order wrong and then just said that they didn t hear that part and that they also offer this other item. My food was also the last to come out after everyone else s even though I ordered before others at the table. I was very hungry after being there an hour, but maybe 45 mins or so after order, and I left hungry partially because of the mixup. Also didn t ask if I needed milk with my tea, and I had to grab some from someone else in our group who was asked. Other people in our group said their food was just ok as well. I wouldn t have chosen this restaurant and I haven t gone here in years. Only came because my aunt booked it for us as a family gathering.
Ok, hidden in this industrial warehouse atmosphere is a restaurant serving the best liver and onions in Welland! I highly recommend the coconut cream pie as dessert...
Gotta love these mom and pop shops. Huge portions super nice serving staff and the food was top notch
Awesome food good specials
Ukrainian trio for dinner. Simply outstanding. Cabbage rolls/ perogies and a Peanut Butter Pie to go. Simply outstanding dinner and service was fantastic. Food
New to the area, so this was my first time here. When I pulled up I thought it was closed and called to inquire (the entrance is around the back). The gentleman who answered the phone was so kind. The server was amazing. The food was delicious and huge portions. And upon leaving, the man I spoke to on the phone gave me some takeaway and a catering menu (which we order for sure). This will definitely be a regular stop. Thank you for such a positive experience.
One of the dirtiest restaurants Ive been in how it passed it heath inspections is beyond me.
in my opinion the fanciest family restaurant in town Kid-friendliness: they usually provide a treasure chest for kids to pick a toy out of. Food : 5/5 |
Great food and portions are plentigul.
Came for the first time for breakfast. The only issue we had was when I asked for no Mayo, and my husband asked for dry toast it was not done. Will have to give it a try ine more time as the food was really good.
Best cabbage rolls in Welland.
Love the Blue Star - never disappointed!
Interesting place. Waitress was so curt it was funny. Menus dropped on table vs. handed to us. A guest asked if he could get something and she said No! then joked that she was just kidding. Food was hearty and hot. Would be great if gluten free and dairy free options available. Dietary restrictions: Lots of parking available.
Great food . reasonable price
Go here alot!
Best eggs benedict!
Well. This place was dirty, disorganized and the server was rough. Fish I had was good.
Absolutely hands down the best place to eat in welland! John and the staff were outstanding!
Good food for good prices
Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options available to choose from on the menu. Parking: Lots of parking available. Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome and can choose a prize from the Treasure chest. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is wheelchair accessible for guests.
Great food, service can be a little slow. So sit back and enjoy the food. Dont plan to eat here and enjoy your dinning company
Very friendly staff Johnny is a really nice guy and always smiling great prices and lots of food served
Absolutely the best diner bar none! Been going here for thirty years! Best food and spectacular service make this place a no brainer! Ordering takeout is excellent also! Kid-friendliness: Endless choices and colourful atmosphere for kids.
Just a great place to have any meal.
Ive enjoyed many wonderful dinners at the Blue Star Restaurant in Welland after some games of pickleball with my Welland Pickleball Club friends and partners. We had many a laugh while enjoying the food and drink at the Blue Star - thank you! <3
Friendly place, the eggs Benedict are my favorite.
Love it
service was bad, food took two hours, it wasnt even that good
My wife and I have dinner there once a week. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic. I m currently working my way through the menu and haven t found anything I don t like yet!! Try it out and you ll be hooked!
Very disappointed. Came here for a birthday breakfast. Steak was over cooked, eggs undercooked. Some waiter took my spoon for my coffee, then told me to use a fork. What a waste of money and my time, only thing that they seemed to get right was the toast. Will not be coming back here again. If I could I would give 0 stars.
Always great food, great service at great prices
Parking: Good enough amount of parking Kid-friendliness: Very friendly staff with children Wheelchair accessibility: Very accessible building
Chicken Parm and penne was good and lots of food. Felt the marinara sauce needed some oregano or something otherwise great!
This place has been around since before I was born. Family owned and operated since opening. Portions have been downsized a bit and is presented in a bit more of a fancy way then they used to but the food hasnt changed and you still are full after a meal. Generally, a great place to get a nice and tasty, not to mention healthy, meal. One of my favorite places to eat!!!
Take out for family of 4. Option 2 that has cabbage rolls, perogies, salad and a pie. Lots of food great tasting food for a great price.
Lots of tasty breakfast options at a good price with attentive, humorous service from Yvonne. It is a bit dark inside the restaurant which is a shame when it is sunny outside. It would have been nice if there was seating available on the side of the restaurant which has windows but I understand that is going to be used as a party or special event area.
Good food and a relaxed atmosphere! I enjoyed my breakfast here. Prices are very reasonable!
