Cheers - Yia Mas Restaurant in Welland

I used to like the cheer s restaurant. This is just not the same, or any better Got the chicken burger nasty. From the breading, to the indiscernible sauce. The fries are such a large cut which gave it a gross texture, and a lack of any crisp (also poorly seasoned). I got the freddo cappucino which was $5 for 10oz and also not great.

Ordered the chicken dinner as take out. It was so delicious, everything was so fresh & flavourful. Not only was it absolutely delicious, but you cannot beat the price. Cheaper than any other take out. Can t wait to go back!

Fish and chips, fish was dripping in oil. Chicken souvlaki skewers were extremely dry. Pastitsio very bland. 1st and last visit.

Wow! Everything hot, fresh, crispy and ready in 20 minutes. We ordered a year ago and the fish and chips were soggy. Not this time. Everything was amazing! Thank you to the new management!

The new renovations are a fresh and inviting update! Such a cozy and welcoming feel when you come in. The new owners are super friendly and take the time to get to know and socialize with their patrons. The food is top notch authentic Greek, made fresh and so delicious, full of flavour! Fantastic dinner at great prices for homemade! Always busy when I come in, and it s no wonder why. If you haven t come in to the reloaded Cheers, you re missing out!! Yia Mas!!

I had some troubles ordering through skip & the restaurant was absolutely so accommodating and helpful. Unfortunately the first order got thrown out due to complications with the order but they still got my whole order & I was able to get it when I thought it was canceled. Cheers was so nice to me and the food is delicious as always!! Will be going there again & suggesting it to everyone! Great staff, even greater food! :)

I came to this bar with a couple of coworkers and we had only had about 2 beers each and were forced to pay pur bill and leave for no reason that we cannot understand as we werent being disruptive or anything we are blue coller men and find it very disrespectful how we could just be forced out without even finishing our beers and not even being allowed to order 1 more which was all we were gonna have before we got our checks very disappointing and I definitely wont be bringing myself or any of my other coworkers there Im astounded by how we were treated especially since none of us have ever been forced to leave a place for reasons unknown

I order here all the time via Skip the Dishes, Im loving the new greek menu, i hope you add rice too, and Im glad youve kept the pub food as well, really makes ordering get me anything i want! good stuff

Very Highly Recommended. The quality of the food was cooked and spiced to perfection. The quantity was much more than expected. The meal cost was surprisingly low. Various menu choices; however, I chose Greek. If you get a chance, try their amazing appetizer, Spanakopita. I just moved to Welland from Toronto and have experienced many different cuisines. The meal I had at Cheers was traditionally Greek and it was the best, most satisfying meal that I have had in a very long time. I will be back to try their highly rated Fish and Chips and other dishes. Thank you Cheers for the wonderful dining experience.

What an absolute crap shoot of a place. I ordered the 2 piece Haddock with fries for take out, and I get home and theres literally a tiny tiny handful. Theres more fries in a childrens happy meal from McDonalds. I called them and the guy who answered basically acted like Im in the wrong for wanting my moneys worth. Terrible service. Terrible customer service. And absolutely Terrible fish. What a joke this guy is.

Ive ordered the chicken souvlaki dinner and the cheeseburger on different days this week. I didnt dine in so I cant comment about the atmosphere, but the pics of the inside look very cozy. The food choices are quite different; however, the food was delicious both times. I highly recommend!

Wow! Love the reboot! We sat up in the dining room which is super cute and cozy. I had seen a pic of the chicken souvlaki dinner online so I ordered that and my hubby got the pita. It was amazing!! Some of the best Greek food Ive had in a very long time. We will definitely be back!

Incredibly delicious authentic Greek cuisine, paired with the real quality pub favourites Cheers has always been known for in a brighter, more modern setting. The fish was tiny and very expensive. The fries tasted like they were under a heat lap for hours . I don t know if there s new owners or not , but their fish and chips are poor quality. They used to have the best fish in town. Very disappointing.

Got takeout. Fish and chips were just ok. More batter than fish. Asked for malt vinegar. Got none. Asked for extra tarter. Got one small container per piece. I feel this place was better before. Coleslaw was really good.

Cannot say enough great things about this restaurant! The food is incredible! We usually do a takeout order of a ton of wings and veg (jack style is FIRE!) - but their fish is also the best around. Food is always hot, fresh and delicious. The staff are great. Five stars!!!

Ordered the winning fish and chips through skip,Not exactly sure what they are winning. The fries had very little taste, and not only was the fish soggy, and boxed in undersized cardboard with out paper to help absorb some of that grease. Yes, you will respond with oh they must have been packed too swiftly. Not sure how long your fish has been winning for, but wouldn t you place them on a rack to allow the oil to drop, and the surface to crisp before packing? Instead I got two large pieces stuck together on the bottom of the box, drowning from the oil of the top piece. Very underwhelming for a 63$ order, would reccomend BEAMSVILLE fish and chips, or new foundlands own fish and chips. I was just looking for a change, and boy was this not it. Best of luck in the future, perhaps take some of the criticism and improve things for potential new customers.

Tried Beamsville..... doesnt hold a candle to cheers for fish!

I was walked out for my personality, very prejudice and unprofessional. I was sitting with multiple coworkers of mine(up to 8 of them) and we were walked out for talking to much and supposedly being disruptive. This isnt the first time this has happened to me, idk if at this point it is because Im native American or they are just generally disrespectful but I dont appreciate how theyve treated me or my friends what so ever. We are good paying customers and we get treated like we are a bunch of worthless degenerats. I will never again associate with the staff nor let them accept my patronage. Farewell and good bye to a good customer.

Ordered a few times and got a poutine with basically burnt fries. Ordered nachos for two and asked for extra topping for one of them. Only to find hair inter fused amongst the cheese and toppings. Nice to see where all that additional cost gets me. The cook in the kitchen is always giving a look of complete unamusment when I go there to order. but I dont need someone with zero teeth and a smug attitude feeding frozen deepfried foods. I dont care how it sounds. Dont go to this dive bar.

Cheers is a small restaurant and bar, friendly people when you first enter. You seat yourself either on the main floor or the second floor. The atmosphere is like an old mom and pop shop if you like that kind of thing. Great service friendly staff large portions on the food.

For the first time, we ordered from Cheers, the fish and shrimp dinners were so delicious! Gonna do the same in near future.

Great little spot, but very little gluten free options. Dietary restrictions: Very little to offer for those who are gluten intolerant. Thankfully the Caesar salad was substantial, minus the croutons. My husband and daughter enjoyed the fish & chips, but they have no dietary restrictions. Parking: Thankfully there is free street parking, as the parking lot is very small.

Cant beat the Halibut & Chips. Some of the best in southern Ontario!

Beer is cold. Neighborhood pub feel. Dated and dark. Servers are great. Food is awful. Seriously dont eat here...only redeeming food item is the wings.

The food is really good, with large portions. We always get the fish and chips. Its reasonable priced, and the staff is really friendly. We go as often as we can. Unfortunately, due to job losses, we havent been able to go for a while.

There were flies landing on my sons fish and chips, he ate a couple bites and got grossed out. I had the large nachos, which were smaller than most restaurants smalls. Prices were high for portion size and quality. I d consider another restaurant

Its funny when you get a little turned around in a out of the way small town and find a little gem (hole in the wall) delight. Friendly staff and quality food taste and price. For sure would go back the wings are 5 star any day.

I love Cheers. Im always amazed with their ceasar salad. Real bacon and a ton of it. Im in heaven. My husband gets the fish. Always delicious and this time we got huge slice of homemade bread. Such a nice touch. The waitress are so friendly and welcoming. Keep up the great work.

Lady working at there is very rude and refused to give me order without any reason as she wants to talk to guys there. Worst experience at this place never going there and will never recommend this place to anyone. If someone ordered it twice it s obvious that whoever gets the order first will take the order. When i reached at restaurant and asked for order she said i will not give this order to you as you came first and she said whoever will come 2nd i will give this order to him. Is it a kind of joke. Even i taked to customer and he said she was kind of weird with him too so i think the management needs to think about the girl working there if she has same behaviour with most of the peope. Hope you will take this seriously

Ordered poutine for $10 and got a tiny handful of undercooked fries with a little sprinkling of shredded marble cheese.... seems to be no quality controll, portions are absolutely tiny.

Freaking love this place

This was one of the first places I came to when I moved to Welland and I really enjoyed it. Their fish and chips were amazing and big portions too, I also had their nachos which were massive and delicious as well. They have plenty of seating inside and outside. Maybe if I come back enough everybody will know my name (Cheers reference for those who know the show)

Ordered take-out. Food was ready on time and hot, freshly made. Friendly staff. Had cheers burger with fries and beef dunk with onion rings. All was tastey. Gravy had good flavour. Personal preference would be thinner gravy. Picture shows each sandwich cut for sharing. Not huge but plenty for our dinner. Very reasonable prices.

Just ordered food from here off skip. Food was okay. We did get a fishy smell from the wings and what were assuming/hoping is that maybe they were fried in the same fryer/oil as the fish which would explain the fishy smell. Unfortunately, we did not continue to eat the wings but the burger and fries were good and the taco potato skins is not something I will order in take out ever again - probably more ideal to order pub food while actually sitting at the pub to ensure freshness. Maybe clean oil more often or fry fish and wings in separate batches of oil if restaurant has the equipment to do so.

My first time in this place. I drive by a lot and finally went in. Its a cozy atmosphere with a local vibe. The wait staff welcomed us and we felt at home. Fish and chips were the choice for us , and we werent disappointed. Ill go back.

Such a cute little pub located downtown welland. Staff is always super friendly, beer is cold, great live entertainment (when that was a thing ) and the owner is a stand up guy. Very friendly and welcoming. Definitely a great little Place to pop in for a pint or two (once allowed again) and try them For take out!

I love Cheers. They have great chicken wings, service and staff. I recommend getting the Jack style or some Fish on Fridays. The owner is very nice also, one time I got my car stuck in pot hole outside and he came and helped me get unstuck. I didnt need to call CAA. Thanks, Cheers!

First time trying this restaurant and I loved their wings. Big and juicy! Only thing I didnt like is the 2 hour wait for my food to be ready and having to call 3 times before finally getting through to place an order. The lady who greeted me when I entered was very friendly. I would definitely order from here again, only I would suggest ordering 2 hours before you anticipate being hungry!

My fries weren t even filled in the container very little gravy and it definitely wasn t cheesy it wasn t even cheese curds it s so bad I doubt I ll ever eat there again

Dont judge a book by its cover, the restaurant looks old, the exterior is a little off-putting. Inside is old and it looks like an old bar from the 70s. But, all of this stops to matter when you walk in. The staff is welcoming and super friendly. I ordered fish and chips and it was the best fish and chips I had in a long time. Light crispy batter, super fresh fish and home maid fries that were just perfect! Price was very good and I will definitely go back.

The Bartender that took our takeout order over the phone was great. Very friendly. Ive eaten at cheers before and was pleased but that was pretty pandemic. This time I was quite disappointed at the food. A large nacho consisted of a half full Styrofoam container. The wings were overdone and definitely under portioned. I called to inform them of my disappointment and was told that the cook always overloads the nachos ...nope. I will give them another shot but this was definitely discouraging. Follow up to the response from the owner. I appreciate you reaching out. I assure you that there was no offer to remake or refund or make it right in any shape form or way. Having said that, the problem wasnt the actual nachos....they were fine. The issue was the fact of how little there were for the price charged and for that being a large. When I called her back to voice my concerns, it was immediately upon opening everything. Had there been an offer to resolve or replace, I would have taken it before eating the meal. Cheers.

What a wonder little find. We were in the mood for fish and chips. Service and food were all excellent. We noticed some poorer reviews from people who had the food delivered home. I think you just need to eat and drink there. There is even parking behind the building. We will certainly be back!

Very disappointing customer resolutions at this place. If you have an issue with something and complain be prepared to just be told you cant come back. I would understand if I was irate and rude (according to the waitress I was, funny how everyone else agreed i was not). I guess they can afford to tell regulars that used to spend a lot of money in here they are banned over a complaint.

Hands down the best wings, maybe anywhere in Ontario!? Always delicious, never over or under sauced. The honey garlic and the hot jumbo wings are perfect delivery through Skip the Dishes is definitely a good option. Once the plague simmers down, would be nice to sit inside and check out the pub for myself.

Was really craving a chicken parm sandwich and found this place through skip the dishes. Wings were raved about so got those too. Really happy with my meal, will definitely order again. The wings were great, and so was the parm sandwich!
