Don t waste your time here. Their customer service is terrible. I ordered the same meal 2 times and never received the food. Was promised the food on the second order we and they ignored us.

Weve been regulars and have brought friends here many times. Unfortunately, over the past few months, both the service and food quality have declined significantly. Recently, they served us a noodle soup that, according to the menu, should have come with wontons but for the second time in a row, there were none. This is disappointing and unacceptable. Good luck with your business, we won t be coming back.

Weve been there a few times, and will keep going back. Every dish has been great. I think Mr Hong (who is a real person, by the way) takes care to make good food. The staff are friendly too.

Easily the best Bun Cha I ve had outside of Hanoi!

Excellent food, great vegan menu (with a bonus that they cook the food completely separately from the other stuff). Friendly staff member and decent prices. I usually dont like a lot of Asian food, but I found this very good. I highly recommend the Vegan Combination Noodle Soup. The restaurant is also in the better part of West End, with some road, street parking at night for pickups, or paid parking if wanting to dine in; and the area is quieter than the very noisy/loud side of West End, and feels much safer than a lot of West End. The photo I have here isnt the best; it looks much better in person. Oh and the staff member guy was very friendly and nice. Vegetarian options: A full vegan menu which helps and Im pretty sure theres other dietary restriction options too for those who need it. The tofu in the vegan pho isnt to my liking, its quite sweet. Personally Id like the pho to be loaded with more veggies. We didnt get the plate of chilli / basil / bean shoots this time and definitely missed it from a flavour perspective. The wontons are INCREDIBLE and I find myself craving them - the difficult part is deciding to have them steamed in the pho or fried as an entree! Hubby likes the laksa better than the pho because the flavour profile is more complex. Dietary restrictions: A whole vegan menu. Parking: The building complex has quite limited free parking, otherwise there is both paid and free street parking depending on the time you visit. There is also a paid carpark opposite. Kid-friendliness: Family friendly restaurant, though no entertainment offered for children. Instead they are often running a muck in the alfresco area - unfortunately can be disruptive to other patrons though that is on the parents rather than the restaurant. Wheelchair accessibility: Definitely wheelchair accessible from the sidewalk and the restaurant space itself is quite spacious so manoeuvring within the restaurant should be well accommodated.

I wasnt pleased with my take away order .. A container with chewy chicken and lemon sauce. $18+.. Food

Food above all else is great, generally cant fault it. My issue is with the atmosphere and pricing. $40 for two BBQ Pork Buns and some stir-fried noodles is ridiculous. I cant justify spending my money here because I can visit the corner cafe and get a takeaway container full of hot food for $15. Everytime Ive ever gone here the atmosphere has been pretty mild, nothing Id rave on about. I think if you genuinely lowered your prices to something reasonable, hired staff who could fluently speak english and picked up the vibe youd have more foot traffic - but thats just my two cents.

The worst food I have ever tasted. Honey chicken was disgusting, tasted like burnt oil and felt like they just covered it in honey and wasn t even warm. Never seen something so poorly. Never eating here again.

If I could give one star I would! Is this place under new management because last time we came to Mr Hong the service was good the atmosphere was lovely the food was great and the staff could actually speak English well. On Friday all of the above was completely different. Went to dinner on Friday with 4 people the service was absolutely atrocious staff couldn t speak English very well we arrived @7pm and we waited at the table for 45mins until we got served we actually had to get up and ask someone inside to come and take our order! The menu has a lot of stuff that is no longer available as well as drinks which was disappointing! We ordered entrees and mains and we waited another hour for our food after ordering and the food was coming out at random and the same for the other tables and it wasn t even busy so to be bringing out one or two dishes every 15-20mins didn t make sense also we received our entrees in between our mains which was so strange! You either need more chefs or you guys completely don t know how to run a restaurant! I tried to call to discuss this however whoever answered the phone didn t even say hello Mr Hong they just said hello and why you call Wow not good enough! If you can t run a business properly don t have one at all and not to mention the owner and the staff need to learn how to speak English ALOT better then they do they cannot understand! It s wrong you live in Australia you should know how to speak English well. We won t be back to Mr Hong again after Friday night! Disappointing as whoever owned it before the people who have it now was So much better and I would recommend to dine there as of now I no longer recommend for anyone who is reading this review to dine here in the future!!

Came during lunch time, only 1/3 full, ordered a lunch special, waited for over 30 minutes for the food to arrive. As a Chinese myself, I never tasted something that bad and poorly presented. Not sure why people gave 5 stars really disappointed there s a lot other Asian foods much more better around.

Lemon duck covered in a sickly sauce, pork unrecognisable in thick batter. Token carrot sticks. Chicken dish garnished with shredded iceberg lettuce and inedible shrimp - possibly plastic? Who could tell? My only review in 10 years. It s that bad.

Overpriced and below average. The 4 dishes we tried were worse than a train station Chinese takeaway store, but for $27/dish. If you love celery, youll be pleased to know its featured heavily in every dish. Such a shame as Im a local and would have happily ordered from here regularly, if it wasnt such poor quality. The photo is leftover celery from one dish. This was taken after already eating a portion of celery...before realising it was drowning in celery! The Mr Hongs rice was dry and no flavour. All the stir frys tasted like something I would make at home with a bit of oyster sauce, rubber chicken and half a kilo of celery. AVOID!!!

Something happened to the restaurant and its not the same. The kitchen is unorganized, staffs are treated terribly and unfair, your vegan rolls are frozen, orders are wrong all the time due to miscommunication between the BOH to the FOH. This is my favourite in my hood. Friendly service, reasonable price, great seating for a small to a large group. I had one of my favourites (Vietnamese omelette) the other night and it was divine!

My first visit to Mr Hong Modern Asian was for a friends birthday, and it was definitely a pleasant experience. The staff were accommodating and friendly with great customer service. The food was tasty with standard pricing. We each decided to get a dish and share. For entrèe we had Hanoi spring rolls, panfried pork and prawn dumplings and crispy tofu. Each starter was crispy and fresh with perfect accompanying sauces. My favourite was the dumplings. For mains we had Sichuan chilli chicken, bun cha and Mongolian beef. The Sichuan chicken was colourful and vibrant with the veges cooked to a nice texture. The bun cha was so full of flavour and seasoned well. I didnt get a chance to try the beef but it came out looking good. Overall, it was a lovely evening and adding good food to good company is always a plus. Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian options along with a full vegan menu. Kid-friendliness: Its a sit down dinner place so not too much for young kids, however, theres plenty of space around the back of the restaurant if you needed to take them for a walk to burn off energy. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant is ground floor.

Had a dinner today and it wasn t enjoyable. Why did I choose this place for my Birthday? Waitress young european looking girl wasn t friendly and plus she spilled lots of laksa soup on our table and didnt even clean it up. We did it with the napkins. Laksa soup wasn t tasty, it was flavourless with too much noodles. Barramundi and calamari were ok. Oolong tea was not the best but drinkable. Tea pot wasn t very clean inside. Overall bad experience. We won t be coming back. P.S. My review was very fear. By the way ok is just ok (below average), not great. Improve your customer service and food quality and all will be good. Cheers!

Appalling service. Will never come to this restaurant again. Was only one large table in the restaurant, otherwise completely dead. Tried to order at the front, the server was having difficulty with the system and then was screamed out by another member of staff whilst we ordered. So unprofessional. Waited half an hour, no drink or food arrived. Then was presented with a menu by a different server! We said had ordered half an hour ago but nothing had arrived. Asked twice how long our food was going to be, had no straight answer or apology for the mess up. We decided to leave and go elsewhere. Don t waste your time here.

Not happy. Usually a favourite for us every few weeks. Food tasted different, dumplings undercooked, stir-fry salty and the service was bad. Ordered a beer and red for the missus, told nothing and never served. Found out later, that they cant serve drinks, not even a juice. Just soft drinks and water...?? Says temporarily closed and staff all seem new... They seemed friendly enough but bit of a shame. Food and service werent great.

Very poor service. They didnt log my order. Waited over an hour. They dumped the dinner on the table and ran. I watched the table nearby have their mains arrive before entrees and only after they asked where were the entrees. The first time I visited the waiter dropped a glass of wine on me. The second chance was no better.

Mr Hongs are under new management and their hospitality was not up to standards. We were waiting for about half hour until we got served, the restaurant was not busy at all. We ordered a banquet meal and they said they do not do any Gluten free meals on Banquets any more. Half the menu isn t available until they get their new menu s which they do not have available. When they do get get the new menu and the owners did mention there will be NO GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS AVAILABLE!!! The drinks menu had changed they do not do cocktails or the jugs anymore. Under new management.. This was my favourite place.. Today was horrible.. it was not busy the service was at a low quality, the food was okay but not as nice as it use to be. No more cocktails and still using old menus while they wait for their new menus but can t offer what is on the old menus.. I would rather a simple piece of paper with what I can order printed. Communication goes along way too.. but we waited forever for service and when menus provided a good idea would be to communicate everything that we cannot order. We were told there wouldn t be gluten free options on the new menu s.. I don t think this is a good move especially in West End. Restaurants need to be more inclusive of those with allergies and intolerances. It s a real shame.. the old ownership and team were always fast, great food and great service but today was terrible.. and it wasn t even busy.. even to ask a question was hard.. I don t think I will be coming back.

Stopped here for lunch but didn t get served after 20mins so we left. After reading the recent reviews it seems like it s a good thing we left.

Mr Hong used to be the go to for awesome Asian food, but the change in management is very obvious. Food was sub par and the restaurant was empty when it s usually full.

After a busy day of shopping, we came here. Thank you so much for opening a little early just for us and taking care of us when we were extremely tired, hungry and thirsty.

Incredible experience! I had a surprise birthday for my husband with 15 friends at this restaurant and the staff went above and beyond to make sure if went perfectly. The food came quickly, they played a song and brought out our cake. They were just super accomodating. Everyone enjoyed the food, and we all were allowed to pay for our own meals. Could not be happier!! Dietary restrictions: Great for gluten free options!

Food is definitely better... not quiet to standards it was... but getting closer... Dont recommend going if its looking to be a cold night unless you have extra layers on stand by... some staff close the doors to keep outside cold air out... others, dont they open them? We would have ordered more but it took alot to get the food we did order and we had to check it was ordered as the guy taking it only took mine as far as we knew not the other 2 I dined with? It has potential for sure to be great like it was... but also when paying the person just pointed at the payment machine and took a call...said I was happy to wait they didnt care. Got nicer when others dining with me came over and suddenly the call ended? Will go back... but just hope they read these and take it on board and get better.

Open 7 days Monday to Friday opening time is 10:00, I come for lunch at 10:20 and theyre not open, it is consistently open late...maybe they should update their times

Possibly the best Vegan Asian food Ive had. The Vegan Smoked Duck with Special Sauce is amazing, as is the Vegan Lemon Chicken. Wonderful service, excellent food, highly recommend.

Second time here. First time was interesting. Variety of dishes and seating to cater for different people. Second time here tho unfortunately was not very good. Not busy on a Friday night and wifi isn t available as shown. Waitress spilled water from water jug on my table and walked off. Chicken had black marks and didn t taste fresh. Housemade lemonade lacked balanced flavor. I received incorrect initial charge as well. Bad customer service

I ate here for the first time since their changes and everything was great. The food was tasty, the serving sizes were appropriate without going overboard, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the menu still has gift variety (even if a few of my favorites are now removed)! Theres even an entire page for all the vegan dishes. Parking: Parking is around back, but if thats full you can check street parking.

Basically OK but nothing special. Tries to cover multiple cuisines (Vietnamese, Chinese-Australian, Malay- Peranikan). On the plus side no added MSG. Disappointed as food was average, nothing to complain about but nothing really to praise. Service was responsive but limited by level of English skills. Outdoor seating was good and they did turn the music down on request so we could hear each other. No complaints but I wouldn t bother to return.

Very slow service

Place used to have great food. But something changed about 6 months ago and haven t had a nice meal yet.

I have never been overly impressed by the food here but thought I would give Mr Hong another try. The food was average but what really got to me was the fact that not one staff member was wearing a mask, no one checked our check-in status or our green tick. Everyone has to do the right thing atm, and it is mandatory for hospitality staff to wear masks.

Had dinner at Mr Hung tonight. The food was ok, but I have had better. My real disappointment stems from the fact that they showed NO Covid awareness what so ever. No one checked our check-in details or our vaccination status, further I didnt see the staff check anyone elses details. I am not a serial complainer at all, but when none of the staff was wearing masks, I asked the manager what the go was, he toll me that he checked all staff vaccination status, but didnt think she should have them wearing masks. I run my own business, and can hardly afford to take the risk of infection and isolation because Mr Hung does not want their staff wearing masks, or bother checking patrons vaccination status. I will not be back.

Third time we have been here, our first experience definitely better than the next two!

Lovely staff and the food was great.

We had a great late night meal tonight (we arrived after 8.30pm, and they close at 10pm). We had a coeliac with us and they have plenty of coeliac friendly options to choose from. Our waiter also confirmed with the chef regarding the coices made. All the portions were of a good size. We will be going back. Our only disappointment was the outside tables were quite sticky, like they needed a good scrub, sanding back and re-varnishing.

First time eating dumplings and i am super glad i came here they are beautifully done, taste fantastic and i will not be eating them anywhere else. And i recommend a sasuage bun if your lookings for a sweet paste meat sorta of thing , The people are so nice and lovely !

Loved the 1991 cocktail and my dinner was delicious. I comfortably bring friends and family here. Had the dumplings which where amazingly soft and fresh. No one has ever been able to say bad things about the food.

It is an Asian food restaurant that also has a full vegan menu! Best of all, they have different kitchens, one for vegan food and the other of course for non-vegan food. The place is big, very well decorated and they have tables inside and outside the restaurant. The food is delicious, it also has a bar with different cocktails, beers and some delicious fruit juices (all very well decorated). Very friendly staff and good customer service. Highly recommended!

Pretty poor service considering we were only people there , brought my girlfriends food out 10 minutes before mine , forgot our rice and drinks bill for 2 people $70 just didnt seem like any value at all

Have eaten there on many an occasion and each time has been memorable. The atmosphere, the staff are engaging and so helpful both in drinm and food selection. And my gosh, rhe food, has to be the best in Brisbane for the quality, flavour and price.

Lovely service and ambience. My seafood laksa was good. Some good sized prawns, a mix of noodles. My girlfriends crispy chicken noodle soup was disappointing for her, she didnt like the way the noodles were cooked, the choice of noodles, or the way the chicken was cooked. We both liked the entree selection.

The Crackling Pork Bahmi is to die for. The crunch of the roll, followed by the soft pork and crunch of crackling. Yum. The Sizzling Mongolian turns heads and theres no better feeling than to see someone else order the same dish after they see yours.

Unfortunately I have to give you this review based on the experience I have had on 27 Aug. I had vegan Pho Chay (soup noodles) which was the worst meal I have had here. It was plain and the quality of the food was poor. Most of the veggies are dry and old. Frozen carrots and canned mushroom were used. I was really struggling to try to finish the food as I didnt want to waste it but I still couldnt.. Very disappointing experience. I used to enjoy the vegan food here but after this experience, I dont think I will return again.

I ordered fired beef hofun, it was over cooked, very over. I can only taste bitter in my food, disappointing. Also, I ordered another pho, I saw the customers behind us also order pho but they receive first. When the pho come, they didn t give us the lemon plate, only when I ask for it. Actually, I want to give 0, but the lower score is 1.

Had a booking for 13 people. Staff were very accommodating for a large(ish) group on a Friday night. Drinks were great and the food arrived quickly. Most had the Silver Banquet while others just ordered off the menu and the quality and amount of food was excellent.

We had dinner here New Years Eve. We were promptly greeted and shown to the table and provided with water. Our order was taken and the food started to arrive. The chicken sweetcorn soup had a fair dose of vinegar which was not that pleasant but not awful. The pan fried dumplings were pretty good but came with a vinegar based sauce which was ok but not fantastic. We then had some buns which again came with a vinegar based sauce. I did not enjoy the vinegar theme. The mains arrived or should I say were banged heavily on the table by the male waiter. My partner had a beef pho which looked quite good. I ordered the crispy beef and fried rice. I got the crispy beef but they forgot the fried rice. The beef was ok but again was soaked in a vinegar based sauce. Overall not a great experience which was a shame.

One of the best Asian restaurants in West End. Extensive menu that caters to all dietary needs. Love their Vietnamese vegan menu and their banquets are excellent too! They also have a vegan banquet! Generous serving sizes, great service, friendly staff and good location.

We had vegan laksa looked freaking amazing but sadly no flavour what so ever I think the base of it was made on plant base milk so devastated that if they cant get a laksa right what do their other vegan dishes taste like .

I wouldnt even have given a 1, I would be choosing 0, but Google has made me generous. We ordered 4 dishes and have been waiting for 2 hours, when we received the dish, it tasted horrendous. Gordan Ramsay might need to bring his show here. I believe it should be on kitchen nightmares. The staff are very rude and non friendly to customers like their page states. Im very disappointed.

Cant recommend it and had bad experiences every time Ive gone. The wait time is really long and they forget items you order until you remind them.

Lovely Asian restaurant in west end. Parking can be a bit tricky as there are limited spaces unless you park on the street. Wide variety in the menu and food is reasonably good. They have a bar and some cafe food. Big restaurant with lots of dining spaces inside and outside.

Ive dined here more times than I can remember and I cannot fault them. Love the Combination Soup...

Service is a bit hit and miss but the price for the food you get is really solid would definitely come back again. Most diverse mix of veg I ve seen so far in a laksa. Vegan combination laksa and noodles.

A great place for vegan food with a full on vegan menu in West End area with quiet ambience and good coffees. The combination Laksa and pan fried Ho-fen (flat rice noodles) are something you dont want to pass.

Very good food and very friendly service. Many tasty vegan options. Can particularly recommend the vegan smoked duck rice paper rolls, vegan pho and laksa.

The food was fine but the hygiene at the restaurant wasnt perfect. I annoyed by flies considently because they were around my food..

Had Sunday lunch for the first time here and we all shared various dishes including sweet and sour pork, Mongolian lamb, pineapple rice to name a few! All the food was very tasty and the service was very friendly. They make good coffee too.

Ive eaten here twice. The presentation of the food is exceptionally elegant and beautiful and the service is fantastic. I ordered the green papaya salad with pork and prawn. It was awful. Completely bland. Green papaya salad should have hot and sharp and sour notes from fish sauce and lime and salty prawn skins. My papaya salad tasted of nothing.

Such yummy, affordable and amazing food and vegan options. The honey chicken was so realistic, I had to ask if it was real honey Anyway, definitely recommend for all my vegans out there! Super yum!

Really hearty Asian dining, crispy chicken was fresh and crunchy as Lays thin chips, broth was just right, not too light and not too greasy, super friendly staff, and Amy the kindest, recommended.^^

Had a look on their website and decided to come here for the breakfast menu. Drove about 30mins to get here only to find that they do not do the breakfast menu anymore. Drove away very disappointed. Update your website!!!

Clean venue, good variety of dishes available, pleasant atmosphere

Had dinner with friends on a Friday night. Service was great, we had water promptly and had our orders taken quickly too. The menu is very extensive with bucketloads of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. There is all sorts of Chinese and Vietnamese dishes, definitely something for everyone. Food was generous and really tasty. I got the lemongrass pork vermicelli salad and was very satisfied after it. They are licensed and have a good drinks menu available. Would recommend coming again, especially if you have people with food intolerances or allergies!

As a vegan its hard to find decent food that resembles the food I used to eat...Mr Hongs does a good job of making tasty vegan dishes that doesnt taste like cardboard

Mr Hong has the best asian food with a mix of thai and vietnamese. You can tell their food is fresh and made from scratch. They have a great selection of alcohol as well and great service staff!
